Preventing Back and Chest Acne
Q: How can I keep my back and chest from breaking out?
A: In the shower, use your fingers or a body brush to gently rub a 2% salicylic acid cleanser into your skin (available at drugstores). After showering, use only a noncomedogenic body lotion. During the day, wear loose-fitting, breathable fabrics, like linen and cotton. At night, dab a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment onto body blemishes. If you don't see results after four weeks, ask a dermatologist about getting a prescription oral antibiotic or a topical cream to accelerate the clearing process.
