HAIR: Naturally, for the cover look, Roberts turned over her famous mane to her longtime favorite hairstylist, Serge Normant. He drew his inspiration from the private Venice Beach, California, home where the shoot was set. "We were going for a Morocco-meets-Arizona-meetsNew Mexico feel: simple but strong," says Normant. He used a volumizer from root to tip on wet hair, then blow-dried and curled with a 1-inch iron in order to create a loose, wavy texture. "We wanted a relaxed, comfortable look," he says. MAKEUP: Genevieve, also a trusted member of Roberts' beauty entourage, used a subtle bronzer for a radiant warmth. She then lined the star's lips with a small brush and achieved a stained effect by using her finger to melt in a berry-hued lipstick. NAILS: "Julia loves a clean manicure," says manicurist Lisa Jachno, who smoothed ridges with a buffing block for a minimalist finish. Joy Hernon
