FIRST LADY OF EYEBROWS: Eliza Petrescu
WHERE YOU CAN FIND HER: Petrescu runs the first-ever brow boutique, housed in Avon's spa in Manhattan.
WHY SHE'S A VISIONARY: Petrescu helped carve out a new beauty category — brow shaping — in the early 1990s. "I was working at a salon in New York, and I would often suggest a little brow shaping to my nail clients. Pretty soon, they were coming in just for that." Today, there's a three month waiting list to see her.
HOW SHE DISCOVERED HER ARCH APTITUDE: "I started shaping my mother's brows when I was 8 years old. Romania was communist then, and we couldn't afford to go to the beauty salon more than twice a year."
TO LOOK LIKE A PETRESCU CLIENT:
*See a professional. If you can't get to Manhattan to see Petrescu, she says to have the fuzz around your brows waxed off, then shape conservatively, accentuating your natural arch but not over-thinning. Finally, use tools from the Eliza Brow Kit to pencil in any bald spots.
