Sara Jane Olson is now sixty-one, six years older than she was when
taken to Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla for her
role (as Kathleen Soliah) with the 1970s terrorist group the Symbionese
Liberation Army (SLA). Shes more than two decades older than she was when she
disappeared, having melted into a suburban life in St. Paul, despite the
fact she was a fugitive from the FBI for her involvement in bank
robberies and violent crimes. Still, her release from prison on
Thursday is a lucky break. As her husband, Dr. Fred Peterson, told me last year, the length of her sentence had long been disputed. Regardless, it's a happy
outcome for Fred and their three daughters. Read more about their lives (and what its like to have a mother who appears on "America's Most
Wanted") here.
