How to Stop Snoring

British snorers (and their sleep-deprived mates) rejoiced when a Liverpool doc recently reported that a simple injection of sodium tetradecyl could quiet the throat muscle's vibration in noisy sleepers. But some U.S. docs aren't convinced. A similar treatment once popular stateside put off patients with its discouraging burn, says Dr. Craig Schwimmer, director of The Snoring Center in Dallas. Instead, he suggests singing lessons (to strengthen throat muscles) and the 10-minute in-office Pillar procedure, which stiffens the throat tissue with stitches and tiny polyester rods.
