Jane Green

Welcome to my summer where you'll get a sneek peek at my travels and tribulations as I promote my latest book, The Beach House, which recently hit bookstores and marks the tenth novel of my career. Ten books ago I was a single girl, living in the city and running around looking for my Mr Right. One Mr not-right-in-the-slightest, four children, a move across the Atlantic and numerous houses later, I've found both peace and happiness, and have been able to give that to my characters in The Beach House, a book that reflects where I am in my life now.

Once upon a time I quit my job, threw caution to the wind, and wrote a novel called Straight Talking. Ten bestsellers later, it has turned out to be something of a fairytale, and over the coming weeks I'll be sharing stories from my own life that inspired each of my books.

Come join me, and find out how my life evolved from chick lit diva to single mom of four who unexpectedly found love again, and keep coming back to see where my current journey takes me.

Jane Green was born in London and has lived in Connecticut for seven years. One of the founding writers behind the genre known as ‘chick lit’, Green now writes novels that reflect the lives of real women today, with all the trials and tribulations that come with real life: from in-laws, motherhood, mid-life crises and loss, all of which are told with Green’s trademark warmth, wit and wisdom.

She began her writing career in entertainment journalism and P.R., the sort of glamorous-sounding but low-wage salt mines in which readers might expect to find a Bridget Jones, or, to take an example from Green’s own fiction, a Jemima Jones. She moved up to become a feature writer at The Daily Express in London, where she became known for her wry take on dating and relationships.

Then, like all good heroines, Green decided to take a chance and follow a dream. She left the Express to freelance, and started work on a novel. In August of 1996 there was a bidding war for her first novel, Straight Talking, an overnight success.

Abigail Pesta

Abigail Pesta is a journalist who has lived and worked around the world, from London to Hong Kong. A highlight from her travels: bar-hopping in Shanghai with a minor-league Mafioso in his hearse-like limo. A lowlight: getting attacked in Cambodia by swarms of flying cockroaches, each one the size of your thumb. She writes short-short stories for her website, Fine Words Butter No Parsnips (http://butternoparsnips.com/).

I'm an editorial assistant in the features department, I'm addicted to bad reality television, New York Times crossword puzzles (Monday only!) and figuring out how to save a little money in the country's most expensive city. I'm blogging about that too (http://www.marieclaire.com/life/career/career-advice/)

Lauren is the articles editor at Marie Claire. She loves to obsess over politics, play soccer, and watch movies, not necessarily in that order. She can't imagine any human interaction that wouldn't be improved with a line from The Simpsons or Rushmore. She saved Latinâ what did you ever do?

As Associate editor of the Radar section, I obsess daily over movies, television, celebrities and music. A southern girl at heart and Brooklyn by address, my skill set also extends into witty asides, vintage shopping, planning themed parties, brunching, entertaining, applying eyeliner, dancing, concocting bourbon mint iced tea, gift giving, movie quoting, coffee drinking and Elvis spotting. I love conversations that begin with "remember the time...", am still paying off my student loans (and then some), and have fallen madly in love—with my DVR.
