Hitting the New Sex and the City Hotspots

After the Marie Claire staff saw an early screening of the long-awaited Sex and the City movie, a few of us revealed our rabid fans status by taking the Sex tour. In New York City, cosmo-sloshing devotees can pack one of those big double decker buses for a guided tour past some of the movie’s most memorable locations. Cost: $80—roughly ten times the cost of the movie ticket. The bus was packed with gigglers eager to scarf down buttery cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery, whisper “Hello, lover,” to the Manolo Blahnik store window, and take our photos on Carrie’s stoop. Sex and the City made household names out of places most people outside of New York had never heard of (Sushi Samba; Bungalow 8), and gave an inside view to New Yorkers who couldn’t get past the velvet ropes. If you’re loathe to pony up $80, we’ve pinpointed the film’s most salient ‘It’ spots. (Warning: Spoiler Alert!) Beeline for them now before they’re overrun by wannabes!

Of course he races after, whereupon Charlotte’s water breaks on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant.\r\nFind It: At 963 Lexington Ave. between 70th and 71st Streets on the Upper East Side, Charlotte’s neighborhood, just a quick trip to Lennox Hill Hospital, where Big then shuttles Charlotte to have her baby.\r\nTake Home: The fusilli alla Siciliana, whole wheat pasta with eggplant and fresh mozzarella.

The Brooklyn Bridge

The problem with such meetings, says Miranda, is that if the other person doesn’t show up, you’re rejected…and on a bridge. \r\nFind It: Start East, from the Manhattan side, near City Hall.\r\nTake Home: Someone you’re willing to start fresh with, or at least some severely windblown hair.

City Hall

The only thing to make this low-key civil service more special? Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda waiting just behind the Hall’s swinging doors.\r\nFind It: In the middle of City Hall Park, near Broadway and Chambers St. in lower Manhattan (the building would also be included on Spin City and Ghostbusters tours). If you want to pull a Big-n-Carrie, it’ll cost you a $25 money order.\r\nTake Home: A new hubby.
