It seems that the voice of America poured into the Texas Governor's office asking and demanding that the FLDS children be returned to their mothers. In the first days after the April separation of mothers and children, more than 400 requests for returning the children to their mothers came in, while only 32 supported the action CPS workers had taken in separating them. This knowledge washes warmly over the child's heart hidden away inside me, the heart of the little girl who cowered in the dark believing that the whole world wanted to separate her from her mother. If I had known then that Americans generally have such kind, true, and empathic souls, I would have grown up with more joy and greater trust. On behalf of "plygie kids" everywhere, I want to thank you, America, for your vote of compassion.
