Now that Donald Trump has declared himself "the presumptive nominee" for the Republican party, he's turned his attacks on Hillary Clinton. At the end of a news conference following his victories in all five of last night's primaries, Trump declared that the Democratic front-runner is only doing as well as she is because she's a woman.
"I think the only card she has is the woman's card. She's got nothing else going. Frankly, if Hillary Clinton were a man, I don't think she'd get five percent of the vote," Trump said. "The only thing she's got going is the women's card, and the beautiful thing is, women don't like her, OK, and look how well I did with women tonight."
Trump doubled down on his comments this morning telling the hosts of CNN's New Day: "She is a woman. She is playing the woman card right and left. I think if she were a man, and she was the way she is, she would get virtually no votes."
Clinton addressed the whole "woman's card" thing last night in a speech of her own, saying: "Well, if fighting for women's health care and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in!"
