Episode 35: The Masthead with Marie Claire Video
Dressing for your career, plus women celebrate their beauty.
Hi. I'm Annabelle, a correspondent for New York Fashion Week Spring 2009. Now, this is an important week for all the New York designers but it's crucial for all the models who wanna make it to the top.
When I cast a show, it really to me is all about glossy, healthy, gorgeous.
So, we're attracted to girls who are just confident and strong walkers and a lot of them are friends of ours and there's just-- there's an ease to them.
We were really always looking for iconic classic beauties whether it's Lakshmi who's from India, or Du Juan from China, or you know, all the amazing European girls. But most of the time it's really the models that I've used season in season out.
These are actually very inspiring.
There are so many castings. I mean, I completely lost count of the number of castings and need to costumes, fittings, gold seats, and being my first season I have to do a lot of those. It's just sure will power, that's the only way to get through your day.
For me, it's much easier because now, the clients are on those middle designers and really well, and I don't have to go through the gold seat, so it's just me fitting and then go to the show. So it's much more relaxed.
I started with Prada exclusive with them and then my next season, I did exclusive with Calvin Klein, you know, I really like Calvin Klein because they helped me get to where I am now and so with Prada.
That's like my 8th season. You cannot get old. When you get old there's wrinkles and they're gonna stop using you.
I like the sexy walk. I love shows that will you do a sexy walk.
When I was younger I used to-- I actually had Jay from the America's Next Top Model, Ms. Jay, he taught me how to walk when I was about 14.
What's your next call?
I'm trying to rule the world.
Oh I like that.
