Hi, I'm Lorraine Massey. Welcome to Devachan Salon. We are going to show you how to maintain easy crispy curls to keep your hair moist from the cleansing to the conditioning. First of all, you wet the hair down. Most curly girls use shampoo which dry their hair out and-- and the conditioner which keep our hair even drier. So, what we're doing now is using a product called [unknown] and you'll see there's no bubbles in the [unknown] hair cleansers at all. Curly girls don't need any more bubbles. They have very public personality and then go direct to the scalp and massage the scalp. When you're rinsing out the sulfate-free cleansers, you'll find that you use less water to rinse. When you use detergent cleansers, it multiplies in curly hair and you have to use gallons more water just to rinse it. So, you're doing all these good things not only to your hair but to the environment. If it's very knotty on the end, sometimes it indicates that it is probably ready for a trim and you got to give it some moisture. You can never over condition naturally curly hair. So, take a very generous, handful of conditioner. You have to make sure the whole head is covered or let's just say you're icing a cake. You come through only with your hand. You just simply glide your fingers through. And then, what we're going to do is trickle in. You're going to squeeze out any of the excess conditioner and you'll see a residue, a milky residue seeping from your fingers. For more body, squeeze out some of the excess water and conditioner with a microfiber towel, a t-shirt or even paper towels are great. The last step is while your head is tilted forward; take a generous amount of gel. Remember, this is a landscape. No curl left behind. Make sure every curl gets some gel and then you're going to scrunch it. Can you hear that squishy sound? That sound means it's properly hydrated. Flip your head up to shake and wherever they lay there, they usually [unknown]. But, to release the hair, we'll use some wide Uncle Bobby pins right to the scalp perpendicular to where the hair falls. See that? [unknown] and it allows the air to flow in so it dries a little bit faster. Once the hair is dry, you'll take the clips out very gently and fluff to open up the curl. Make sure you don't fluff on the outside because that will disperse the curls and make them frizzy. By avoiding flat irons and blow dryers and using these simple steps that you saw today, you can have beautiful hair for life.
