Afghani Women Moving Forward

Seven years after democracy came to Afghanistan, the Taliban are back, fighting a guerrilla war against the government—and putting women in danger of losing hard-won basic rights such as pursuing an education or career. With the U.S. bolstering its troops in the region to try to bring stability, photojournalist Louis Quail talked to four Afghan women who are blazing a trail in their professions, despite the volatility.
