Need to Meet: The Duke Spirit

Remember when Alexander McQueen created McQ, his fab capsule collection for Target, back in 2009? We thought so. But what you might not remember is that his line featured a shirt with the face of Leila Moss, the lead singer of a little-known British rock band, The Duke Spirit. He also exclusively sold the band's 10-track album alongside the line.

So, why the love? For one, Moss was moonlighting as McQueen's muse.

"I have always been fascinated by the way he brings the raw, symbolic beauty of the natural world sharply into play with a regal, noble, architectural force," Moss has said of the late designer.

Now, Moss is all about the music. The band's third album, Bruiser, was just released overseas last month, and MC's Sergio Kletnoy got to talk to her about The Duke Spirit, the band's beginnings, and how their sound has evolved.
