Senate "Hearings" on Polygamy

Senate "Hearings" on Polygamy

I am troubled to learn that the only people invited to attend the Senate Judiciary Investigation into "Crimes Associated with Polygamy" are those who have made a foregone conclusion that polygamists are criminal. (Such a move reminds one of the legal proceedings regarding those incarcerated for terrorist activities at Guantanamo Bay simply because they were Muslim and in Afghanistan-despite our American insistence that people are innocent until proven otherwise.) A similarly narrow consciousness launched the raid against the YFZ compound. Why hasn't the Senate invited someone with a balanced and well-informed view, such as Salt Lake Tribune reporter Brooke Adams, Utah state representative and former Utah Children head, Roz McGee, or sociologist Irwin Altman?
