Last night I went to the premiere of Magic in the Moonlight (out July 25), Woody Allen's new period flick starring Emma Stone and Colin Firth. The film, set in the South of France during the Roaring Twenties, is every bit as romantic as it sounds thanks to Stone and Firth's charming love affair, the idyllic French Riviera scenery, and of course, the dreamy costumes.

The soundtrack, chock full of the popular jazz standards of the time, struck me as a perfect complement to a midsummer's night. Whether you're reveling alfresco at a party or just swigging cheap red wine at your apartment solo, jazz just suits summer's devil-may-care attitude.

Here, I've rounded up 15 of my favorite jive tracks from retro — think re-imaginations of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Glenn Miller — to modern day. Listen, below, and be sure to subscribe to the Marie Claire Spotify profile for weekly playlists.
