Beautiful human and Estée Lauder spokesmodel Joan Smalls interviewed fellow beautiful human and Estée Lauder face Kendall Jenner on the set of the brand's forthcoming campaign. To welcome Jenner into the beauty fold, Smalls asked the 19-year-old about makeup, her greatest fear ("Being crushed by a big rock. Don't ask!"), and, of course, selfies, for The Estée Edit, and they sound like two super gorgeous peas in a pod.
First off, Smalls asks if Jenner remembers the first time they met (backstage, at Givenchy's fall 2014 show) and reveals the piece of advice she gave the newbie catwalker, "I was telling you to be more boyish and manly, and you did a good job!"
She also asks about Jenner's reaction to the news that she'd landed the Estée gig, which involved "freaking out" and tears from Momager Kris, as well as the model's personal beauty habits, which include lip balm, moisturizer for plane rides, and neutral nails. But one surprising tidbit: In response to Small's question "You have four sisters. Have they given you any makeup tips over the years?" Jenner replied: "Randomly enough, my older sisters went to a makeup school when they were younger, so they're all really good at it. They've always told me that 'natural is better.'" Hmm. While there are many descriptors we'd use to describe the elder Kardashians' beauty looks, "natural" isn't exactly one of them.
The interview includes some other delightful revelations. It turns out we share some of the same beauty icons as Kendall ("Angelina Jolie. She's just ridiculously beautiful. And then I really love Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's style, and I love Rihanna. I feel like she kills it all the time") and wish we could possess the same dream talent ("I wish I could sing like Beyoncé"). Sooo, can we hang out already? Joan can definitely come, too.
