Rock and Roll Legend David Bowie Has Died at 69

The singer's son confirmed the news.

Music icon David Bowie has died following an 18-month cancer battle, his son has confirmed.

Duncan Jones, the son of David and his ex-wife Angela Barnett, wrote on Twitter: "Very sorry and sad to say it's true. I'll be offline for a while. Love to all."

The following statement was published to David Bowie's official Facebook and Twitter, announcing that he died on Sunday. 

This comes just days after he celebrated his 69th birthday on Friday, when his 29th album, Blackstar, was also released. 

His wife, Iman, tweeted on Saturday, "sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory."

Twitter and Instagram were flooded with tributes to the late singer. Kanye West, Madonna, Cher, Pharrell Williams, and more posted.
