On Thursday, Jay Z took to Twitter to shout out his favorite rappers and influences. The rapper hadn't tweeted since March, so what was the occasion? His induction into the Songwriting Hall of Fame—which also included a personalized congrats from former president Barack Obama.
One of Jay's tweets was a Dropbox link to a video of Obama congratulating this year's songwriting class, which also features a larger section devoted just to Jay and his bromance:
"I like to think Mr. Carter and I understand each other. Nobody who met us as younger men would've expected us to be where we are today. We know what it's like not to have a father around. We know what it's like not to come from much, and to know people who didn't get the same breaks that we did. So we try to prop open those doors of opportunity so that it's a little easier for those who come up behind us to succeed as well."
But Obama then spoke specifically about Jay and Beyoncé's forthcoming twins:
"Jay and I are also fools for our daughters, though he's gonna have me beat once those two twins show up. And let's face it, we both have wives who are significantly more popular than we are."
Ex...excuse me? The internet immediately latched onto the phrase "once those two twins show up," because wouldn't that mean that Bey and Jay would have to have more daughters than the Obamas do...which would mean that both of the upcoming Carter-Knowles twins must be girls.
Naturally, Twitter collectively put on their detective caps and made their case for double XX chromosome trouble:
