Earlier today, it sure looked like that while many celebrities have been making their way to Italy this summer, Miley Cyrus was having the best time out of all of them. Cyrus had been busy living it up in Europe posting plenty of photos and videos—and then, abruptly, on Saturday night, she and Liam Hemsworth released a joint statement announcing their split, per People.
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” a rep for Cyrus told PEOPLE. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
In a photo she posted to Instagram Saturday, Cyrus lounges in a black Versace bikini and flip flops writing, “So much Versacheeeeee.” In another video she opted for a white bikini while she danced to Aaliyah’s “Rock The Boat.”
On Saturday, Miley also posted an Instagram with her sister:
Even before the split news broke, Cyrus definitely deserved a vacation. She’s been busy the past couple of months promoting her appearance on Black Mirror as well as her latest EP She Is Coming, which she’s accompanied with concerts across the world. In her latest cover for Elle, Cyrus spoke about her role on Black Mirror saying that her character, pop star Ashley O, was inspired by her own life.
“The character is me. They twisted it up the way they always do, but the industry is already pretty dark,” she said. “And at times, I’ve definitely felt like Ashley O. I still do. Making this record, I felt like Ashley O at times.”
She also said about Liam:
I think it’s very confusing to people that I’m married. But my relationship is unique. And I don’t know that I would ever publicly allow people in there because it’s so complex, and modern, and new that I don’t think we’re in a place where people would get it. I mean, do people really think that I’m at home in a fucking apron cooking dinner? I’m in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women. People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still fucking good, and I know that. I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most. I definitely don’t fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don’t even like that word.
