You're about to get 72 more reasons to never type out actual words.
The Unicode Consortium will release 72 new emojis today, adding them in nearly every category. From a sneezing face and a selfie icon to left and right fists (for virtual fist bumping!) and, most importantly, BACON. The geniuses behind emojis have heard our requests.
Finally, the beloved princess emoji 👸 will get her prince and the dancing lady💃 will also have a male counterpart. Other highlights include expanded food options, like pancakes, peanuts, a cucumber, and an avocado. You'll also find a duck, shark, squid, gorilla, and butterfly among the new animal emojis. The sports section has grown as well, with water polo, fencing, handball, wrestling, and boxing emojis arriving as part of this release.
Emojipedia released a video featuring every single new emoji in early June.
Adding emojis to your texts will soon be even more seamless on Apple products. The New York Times reports that a new iPhone feature will include a button that will highlight the emojifiable words in a certain text and provide an option to replace the word with an emoji.
The Emojipedia website notes that although the emojis will be released today, the actual roll-out process—meaning when they arrive on our keyboards—will depend on the vendors, including Apple, Google, and Microsoft. Until then, we'll be all😩😥.
