On July 16, red carpet events in New York read like a who's who of Hollywood's most stylish couples. First, Jalen and Ali Brunson and Ciara and Russell Wilson matched each other's energy at the TIME100 Sports Gala. Then, Zendaya and Tom Holland delivered contrasting date-night outfits for dinner in Greenwich Village.

To celebrate the theatrical release of The Odyssey, the married couple traded red carpet gowns and tuxedos for somewhat off-duty outfits. While Holland looked casually cool in a navy crewneck and blue jeans, Zendaya styled a fresh-off-the-runway little black dress from Elie Saab's Fall 2026 fashion show.

The crinkled-taffeta midi's dark color marked a departure from The Odyssey press tour, which featured Law Roach-styled white looks from Schiaparelli, Louis Vuitton, and Givenchy. The LBD's sleeveless, plunging-neckline bodice and wrap-style skirt, however, mirrored Ancient Greek garments. (For context, the Emmy winner plays Athena, the goddess of war and wisdom, in Christopher Nolan's film.)

In true Zendaya style, she didn't debut the Elie Saab dress without taking some creative liberties in the accessory department. She traded the runway peep-toe pumps for her favorite Christian Louboutin So Kate stilettos. Z also skipped the short leather gloves seen on the catwalk, flaunting her east-west engagement ring from Jessica McCormack (and Holland, of course), instead.

Zendaya and Holland aren't your average newlyweds. Months after they said "I do," the co-stars embarked on joint press tours for Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey. They walked various Spider-Man red carpets together in Madrid, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Paris, and London. But once they shifted into Odyssey mode, there have been few Zendaya and Holland brush-ins on the international red carpet (full cast photos with fellow actors like Charlize Theron and Anne Hathaway, aside).

It's safe to assume the duo will resume their Spider-Man duties in the coming days, before the superhero film releases on July 31. Knowing the booked-and-busy actors, they'll deliver more power-couple outfit inspiration then. Nordstrom offers the Grammy winner's exact Dôen top, too, but its scalloped neckline and poplin sleeves haven't received the Anniversary Sale treatment, so it'll still set you back $278. Just in time for Nordstrom's major markdown, Swift's platform Mary Janes dropped from $220 to $129.99, though.

Pro tip: Use the money you're saving on her Free People skirt and G.H. Bass shoes to splurge on the Dôen blouse. If we're to believe the L.A. label's celebrity clientele, including Ariana Grande, Dakota Fanning, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Olivia Rodrigo, and Kaia Gerber, it will be worth it.

Queen Camilla is celebrating her 79th birthday on Friday, July 17, marking the day with a new portrait and a special gift to the children of the United Kingdom. The Queen, who has long been a champion of literacy charities, will be giving books to every sixth year student this Christmas, and along with her impact on reading, she’s been a quiet, grounding support for King Charles throughout their marriage.

Since marrying Charles in 2005, Camilla has been a source of steady reassurance for The King, and as she turns 79, body language expert Darren Stanton is sharing how their partnership has only strengthened over the past two decades.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Stanton says that Camilla’s strategy during the couple’s first royal tour to the United States in 2005 helped build the public’s confidence in her—as well as boosting The King.

“Camilla’s deliberately cautious approach played a key role in supporting Charles during their earliest joint engagements,” he shares. “By stepping back and allowing him to take the lead, she helped reinforce his position while easing the public into their new dynamic.”

The behavioral analyst adds that Queen Camilla’s “willingness to follow his pace rather than dominate the spotlight gave Charles the space to settle into their partnership publicly” in the early days of their relationship.

As the now-Queen slowly started to take on more charity work and increase her public presence, Stanton says that her “gradual, measured introduction into royal duties” made all the difference.

“As she slowly opened up to the nation, it allowed Charles to appear more relaxed and assured beside her, strengthening his image as a future monarch supported by a dependable partner,” he shares, adding this has had a “powerful effect” on The King.

Widely regarded as a favorite amongst royal journalists and photographers, The Queen’s warm personality and cheeky sense of humor has also helped the public see King Charles in a different way.

“Her willingness to laugh at herself—and the genuine laughter she often triggers from Charles—has given the public rare glimpses of his lighter, more human side,” Stanton says.

Whether it's pulling pints at a bar or interacting with penguins at the London Zoo, The Queen never fails to keep her husband laughing. “Those candid moments, sparked by Camilla’s natural warmth and authenticity, have helped soften Charles’ public persona and allowed people to connect with him on a much more emotional level,” Stanton shares.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dôen designed its summer styles with Bella Hadid in mind. For her most recent Instagram post, the model and fan of the L.A. label wore the under-$300 Julia Dress, which blended boho-chic florals with the girly babydoll dress trend. This screams Bella Hadid-core to me.

The Queen has been wearing a diamond and sapphire butterfly brooch for the past two decades, but until now, its provenance was unknown. It was assumed by some royal watchers to have been a 2005 wedding gift from King Charles, and she’s worn it to everything from the Commonwealth Day service in 2006 to church at Sandringham on Christmas Day 2016.

More recently, Camilla wore the dazzling brooch during the Japanese state visit in 2024 and to a garden party at Hillsborough Castle this spring. But when the Royal Family released Friday’s birthday photo of The Queen, taken by Chris Jackson, Buckingham Palace confirmed the brooch she’s wearing in the picture was given to Queen Elizabeth at the Birmingham Spring Fair in February 1977.

Queen Elizabeth was never pictured wearing the brooch in public, which is understandable given the sheer volume of gifts she was given in her lifetime. But gifting the beautiful diamond design to Camilla so early on in their marriage indicates the late Queen’s feelings about her son’s wife. Butterflies are signs of renewal, transformation and hope, an especially fitting gift for a second wedding.

Body language expert Darren Stanton says that Queen Camilla’s “deep respect for royal protocol” helped cement her relationship with the late Queen.

Since he wasn't chosen, a single Carl was dumped from the villa, and Aniya quickly regretted her decision. Luckily, Episode 21 ended with a brilliant twist where America voted to bring back one girl and one boy from Casa. Carl made his triumphant return in the next episode's cake-themed challenge, instantly cheering up Aniya.

Though Carl had said during Aftersun that he had some walls up after Aniya's choice, those walls were clearly made of air. They quickly picked up where they left off, with Carl making cute breakfasts for Aniya and the pair sharing more makeout sessions in Say Less. When the male Islanders got the chance to recouple after Movie Night, Carl shared his intentions with the iconic line, "Revenge is sweet, but this girl is a little sweeter."

Princess Charlotte’s transition to teenhood is coming soon, but for now, Prince William and Princess Kate’s 11-year-old daughter is busy with ballet, playing tennis and enjoying her final few years at Lambrook School. Now that she's not quite so little, her style has shifted to a more tween aesthetic—and a look at her last three Wimbledon outfits shows the source of Charlotte’s fashion inspiration.

As patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Princess Kate is an integral part of the Wimbledon championships every year, and she’s been bringing Princess Charlotte every summer since 2023.

Charlotte was just eight when she attended her first Wimbledon match in a Liberty-print floral dress that wouldn’t have looked out of place on Queen Elizabeth as a child. But since then, her tennis outfits have followed more closely in Princess Kate’s fashion footsteps, both in terms of style and designer.

Instead of dresses from traditional childrenswear brands like she's worn in the past, Princess Charlotte has been turning to some of her mom's favorite styles.

In 2024, Charlotte wore Kate-approved navy polka dots as she joined her mom and aunt Pippa Middleton for the men’s singles final, with her Guess dress bringing back memories of the dotted Alessandra Rich design Princess Kate wore to the championships in 2022.

"It felt like a bit of a milestone, like she's transitioning from a sweet little girl in smocked floral dresses to a slightly more grown-up tween vibe," Bethan Holt, style director at the Telegraph, told People at the time.

Charlotte upped the Wimbledon style stakes in a major way last summer, stepping out in a sleeveless ivory dress with black trim by none other than the Princess of Wales’s wedding dress designer, Sarah Burton. If the custom designer dress seems familiar, it’s because it gives off very similar vibes as the Emilia Wickstead style Princess Kate wore to the Royal Charity Polo Cup in 2022.

This year, Princess Kate looked to a more recent example from her closet when it came to her only daughter’s Wimbledon outfit, dressing Charlotte in a bespoke blue Jenny Packham dress. The British designer has been Kate’s go-to for eveningwear ever since she married into the Royal Family, but the dress also features the same cobalt blue shade and similar sleeve detail as the Roksanda midi dress the Princess of Wales wore to Wimbledon last summer.

Marie Claire contributor and royal fashion expert Christine Ross says that it’s natural for Kate to choose similar styles for her daughter, but with a tween twist.

“Princess Charlotte has the perfect fashion role model at home showing how to balance modern trends with what we expect from royal style,” Ross shares. “Kate knows how to dress for the unique royal spotlight, and as she selects outfits for Princess Charlotte’s most public moments she’s undoubtedly pulling from her own experiences.”

In terms of Charlotte's wardrobe, Ross adds that “leaning into girlish frills and youthful fashion details” makes Charlotte’s outfits appropriate for her age while also “sticking to the colors and styles that Princess Kate has already shown are tried and true.”

The 2026 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will be here before we know it. But, unlike years past, it won't be in New York. On July 16, the lingerie conglomerate announced that the 2026 runway spectacle is taking its wings to L.A.

While Brooklyn has been the backdrop for the star-studded event for the last two consecutive shows, before its hiatus (more on that below), Miami, London, Paris, Cannes, and Shanghai have also hosted the soirée. It's about time the Angels took over the City of Angels again, right? (The last time the show took place in L.A. was in 2007.)

"This year, we’re taking the show on the road to the birthplace of glamour, stardom, and icons," the brand shared on Instagram. So, prepare yourself for a runway show with plenty of drama, extravagance, and even more celebrities in attendance.

Preparations for the 2026 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show began early this year: Open casting calls in cities like L.A., Miami, Texas, and Chicago allowed Angel hopefuls to audition for a spot in the third-annual affair (and receive a contract with IMG Models). From April through June, thousands of models strutted their stuff in front of judges and Victoria's Secret regulars like Gigi Hadid, Paloma Elsesser, Ashley Graham, and Alex Consani. (We are still awaiting the results about who made the cut.)

Over the last three decades, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has come a long way. From 1995 to 2018, the brand's annual affair would take place in glamorous locales ranging from The Plaza Hotel to the 2000 Cannes Film Festival and see see celebrities like Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, and Claudia Schiffer walking the runway. Over the years, the allure began to fade, and the show began to be increasingly criticized for casting unrealistically slim body types, lack of diversity, and cultural appropriation. The worst ratings in the show's history and accusations of LGBTQ+ discrimination and harassment within the company led to the eventual cancellation of the show in 2019.

At the time, executives said that "the messaging of [Victoria's Secret]" needed to "evolve." Five years later, in 2024, the brand was ready to stage its comeback: "The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is BACK and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love—the glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment, and more." This translated to Hilary Super's CEO appointment in 2024 (the first woman to lead the company) and more accessible lingerie on and off the runway.

Since then, the show has continued to evolve. In 2024, plus-size models like Ashley Graham, Devyn Garcia, Paloma Elsesser, and Kai Soleil gained their wings. Simultaneously, Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio became the first transgender Angels to walk the brand's runway. Last October, Jasmine Tookes made history as the first pregnant person (and the second Black Angel) to open the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Shortly after Tookes, WNBA star Angel Reese walked out, becoming the first athlete-turned-Angel to grace the Victoria's Secret catwalk.

Victoria's Secret also previously teamed up with Amazon. The show streamed on Prime Video and the Amazon Shopping app, which let Prime members shop Victoria's Secret lingerie as soon as Gigi, Bella, Consani, Elsesser, and Palvin debuted their looks.

Princess Charlotte is already starting style trends at age 11, with her adorable Ted Baker charm bracelet selling out soon after her appearance at the Wimbledon men's finals on July 12. The tween princess took after her mom at the tennis championships, wearing a custom Jenny Packham dress that channeled the outfit Princess Kate wore to last year's men's finals. But she also matched with her mom in another way, with both royals sporting this summer's biggest nail trend.

Princess Charlotte wore bright pink nail polish to Wimbledon last year, but she traded her bubblegum style for a bare manicure at the 2026 men's finals, coordinating with mom Kate in clear polish.

The Princess of Wales has always favored short, bare nails or the softest hint of polish, but it seems she's started a bit of a movement in the beauty world.

This year, more people—including Princess Charlotte—are moving away from bright colors and designs to what some are calling the "rich bare nail" trend. Think sheer, clear or no polish at all with neat, shorter nails.

"The argument, from a cultural perspective, is that given the prevalence of standing nail appointments, the scarcity mindset that anoints what’s luxurious and what’s not has finally tipped manicured nails into the passé category, while bare or barely there nails are crowned the ultimate luxury," Marie Claire's beauty director, Hannah Baxter, says of the trend.

But even if it might seem like the royals don't do anything to their nails, it still takes work to pull off a bare manicure, as nail artist Jessica White previously told Marie Claire. "The reality is, a clean manicure is still a manicure," White said.

Keeping up with filing, trimming, buffing and the like—whether at home or at the salon—is essential to pulling off Kate and Charlotte's bare manicures.

For the royals, however, it's hardly a trend. Princess Kate was showing off the clean look before it was ever a thing, and Queen Elizabeth's hatmaker, Stella McLaren, recently told me that the late Queen "never" polished her nails. The Princess of Wales has made some exceptions, though, like on Easter Sunday 2023, when she turned up to church with a vivid red manicure.

As for Charlotte's nails, fans likely won't see her again in public until Christmas, but perhaps she'll buck tradition and go with a holiday red or even reindeer nails like Princess Eugenie.

What did Zendaya's The Odyssey gowns from Jacquemus, Schiaparelli, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, and Matières Fécales all have in common? Besides Greek goddess appeal, they were white (fitting, given that the star plays Athena in the film). So, to surprise fans and mark the ending of yet another impressive press tour, Zendaya wore two gilded metallic gold looks.

On July 15, 48 hours before the film's theatrical release, Z stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Her stylist, Law Roach, outfitted his longtime client in a custom mock-neck dress from French fashion house Jitrois, which added cool-toned gold to her Odyssey color palette. Horizontal leather bands wrapped around Zendaya's bodice before transitioning into an opaque maxi skirt. The hip-high slit gave her matching "Miss Z" stilettos from Christian Louboutin a close-up view.

Even the Emmy winner's accessories got the gold memo. She complemented her east-west Jessica McCormack engagement ring and wedding band with diamond Tiffany & Co. earrings and a Rolex.

Before fans had a chance to get over the look, the actress swapped the form-fitting gown for a vintage Zuhair Murad Spring 2013 Couture skirt suit.

Metallic gold embroidery covered every square inch of the blazer that featured raised shoulder pads, lapels that gave way to a plunging neckline, and a peplum hemline. A swirl-shaped belt cinched the blazer around Zendaya's waist, and a matching pencil skirt featured a thigh-high slit not unlike her previous look.

On the 13-year-old runway, the two-piece debuted alongside gladiator sandals. But since Z already endorsed the gladiator trend on this press tour, she stayed loyal to her Christian Louboutin pumps.

We shouldn't have been surprised by this outfit change. "There's always a second look," Roach said after Zendaya traded Schiaparelli Couture for Valentino at The Odyssey London premiere last week.

While Zendaya may have additional press tour looks up her sleeve, her Greek goddess era is hours away from its official end. So give the actress's fashion-forward Odyssey finale your applause. But don't fret: Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases on July 31, giving Zendaya plenty of time to weave a web of more show-stopping looks.

Prince Harry’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, met with grandfather King Charles for the first in four years this month—but when it comes to reuniting with their uncle, Prince William, it seems that’s not in the cards just yet.

The Duke of Sussex traveled to the U.K. earlier this month to meet with charities close to his heart and take part in events related to the Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham, England next July. Along with his much-discussed security squabbles, there was a back-and-forth narrative of whether or not he’d be bringing wife Meghan Markle and their kids Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5—and if they’d see King Charles at all.

Ultimately, his wife and children joined Prince Harry briefly at the end of his trip and spent time with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House, The King’s country estate. No photos or details have been released from their meeting, which happened on July 10, the same day the Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Royal Charity Polo Cup.

However, when it comes to Prince William, sources close to the Royal Family say there was never a chance of him attending the get-together with Harry.

A source close to both William and Harry told People that Charles and Diana’s sons continue to be estranged. “I thought it would have perhaps eased a little bit by now, to be honest,” the source said of the tension between the brothers. “But there has been no movement, especially on William’s side. There is no contact.”

Another insider added that Harry and William’s relationship is “so broken.”

The brothers were last seen engaging with each other in public in September 2022, when Harry and William did a joint walkabout with Meghan and Kate to meet fans who had gathered outside Windsor Castle after Queen Elizabeth's death.

Morgan Riddle, tennis-core's biggest influencer, brought the drama in a corseted Thom Browne dress. The black gown with pink lace detailing marked a surprising (but exciting) departure from her US Open-friendly neutrals.

In Christopher Nolan’s new adaptation of The Odyssey, Lupita Nyong'o plays two roles: Helen of Troy and her sister, Clytemnestra. And given that the characters appear in two of the most famous stories of all time—the Iliad and the Odyssey—Nyong’o’s longtime stylist, Micaela Erlanger, had plenty of source material to draw from when shaping the actor’s appropriately epic press tour.

But, as Erlanger tells editor-in-chief Nikki Ogunnaike on the latest episode of the "Nice Talk" podcast, she didn't want to go too literal or venture too far into method dressing territory when it came to Nyong'o's looks. Instead, the stylist let the characters inspire the outfits in more subtle ways.

"For me, it is really thinking about how I want my client to show up as her most authentic self, while also, at times, thinking about the character and thinking about the dichotomy between, in this case, two roles that she's playing," Erlanger says.

With that in mind, she sometimes drew inspiration from Helen, sometimes from Clytemnestra, and sometimes from both at once.

"Perhaps we're playing with more structured silhouettes in one instance, to more fluid Greek-inspired silhouettes in another instance," she says. "I like a little Easter egg here and there. I have a lot of fun with that."

One look that combined both characters was Nyong’o’s stunning dress for the London world premiere of The Odyssey.

"It was a Christian Cowan chainmail gown that was very sleek, very simple silhouette, but when you turn to the side, the shape of the body, the illusion, the giant armholes, it was such a striking, unexpected silhouette," Erlanger says. "I felt like that struck the perfect balance between the two characters that she plays."

Other nods to the film and Greek mythology included a custom Sally LaPointe suit trimmed with ostrich feathers—a reference to Helen being conceived while Zeus was disguised as a swan. Erlanger also paired a Grecian-inspired sandal with a relaxed outfit by The Frankie Shop for one of Nyong'o's press days.

Nyong'o and her women co-stars from The Odyssey have really kept people talking with their looks for the tour, from Zendaya's gown paired with angel wings to Anne Hathaway's glamorous maternity style. Erlanger says that one particularly fashionable and cohesive group moment wasn't planned.

For a London photocall, Erlanger dressed Nyong'o in a white Chanel skirt and blouse. "You know what was so funny? All the women showed up and they complimented each other for the photocall. They were all in white," Erlanger says. "We couldn't have planned it better. I mean, we didn't plan it. It just happened."

While Erlanger says stylists sometimes consult with one another when their clients will appear together, that wasn’t the case here.

"In this instance, there was no time to do that. But yeah, on other film projects, absolutely. I think it's really helpful. I like to know the color of the carpet. I like to know what the background is going to be, because I want to think about how my client is going to show up in an environment or in a space. You know, what's the time of day?" she says. "All of this sort of informs things. So this was a 10 a.m. photocall in London, and I thought the look was amazing. And they looked great together, which was a bonus."

What will 'Little House on the Prairie' season 2 be about?

Though most of the plot details for season 2 are under wraps, creator Rebecca Sonnenshine has spoken out about the influences she wants to balance throughout her reimagining of Little House on the Prairie. Speaking with The Wrap, the Vampire Diaries and The Boys alum explained that she’s interested in depicting the books’ version of the Ingalls, who were more nomadic than shown in the '70s TV series.

“A part of my pitch was that we were going to follow the ebbs and flows of the books, and they are fairly nomadic for quite some time,” she told the outlet. “I missed that from the original show, which was an amazing show and everyone loved it, and it was very special. But it didn’t have the opportunity just because of the realities of television, and it didn’t have the opportunity to do this. And we do now.”

While that means leaving behind season 1’s supporting characters, Sonnenshine added that she’s “always going to look for a way to bring those characters back” if the story allows. “I hope that it runs for a long time so that we get the opportunity to organically do it...We’re trying to be faithful to historical truth and still look for ways to keep our characters alive, however we can.”

As for the future of the series, the showrunner also added that she would “love to do all the books and then look beyond [at Wilder’s] fascinating life.” She added, “When I think about Laura Ingalls Wilder, it’s kind of amazing that someone lived through times that started in covered wagons and no electricity, and lasted all the way into airplanes and the atomic bomb.”

Charlotte often wore adorable smocked dresses similar to the Liberty print styles worn by Queen Elizabeth as a child, but over the past year, she's leaned into proper designer clothing. Along with her Jenny Packham Wimbledon dress, the 11-year-old wore a floaty ivory style by one of Princess Kate's favorite designers, Alessandra Rich, to Trooping the Colour last month.

As for her new bracelet, charms were also a favorite of Charlotte's late grandmother, Princess Diana. Jewelry expert Nilesh Rakholia, founder of Abelini, tells Marie Claire that Princess Diana's gold charm bracelet represented “a collection of meaningful symbols connected to her life, family and experiences.”

She rarely wore her gold bracelet in public, but it featured personal charms such as Prince William and Prince Harry's initials and an apple to represent her love of New York City.

Unlike Charlotte’s Pandora bracelet, which, like Diana's, has personal charms such as her May birthstone, an engraved heart and Nala from The Lion King, the preteen's Ted Baker style doesn't have the option to add on new designs. However, Rakholia says the style is “a beautiful example of how even small details can carry meaning.”

“The heart is one of the most recognizable symbols of love and family, while the flower represents growth, happiness and new beginnings,” he says of her charms. “The bow has a sense of connection and togetherness, often associated with gifts, celebrations and the bonds between people.”

Pearls, of course, have long been associated with the Royal Family, with Queen Elizabeth in particular known for her love of a pearl necklace and earrings. Rakholia notes that the faux pearl charm on Charlotte’s bracelet “adds a timeless quality, for pearls have long been linked with elegance, innocence and tradition.”

“For Charlotte, this bracelet may be a small, grown-up accessory, but it represents something much bigger: the idea that jewelry can tell a story,” Rakholia adds.

Former college athlete Sincere and bikini store manager Melanie were together from day one in the villa, but their time on Love Island USA was plagued with controversy. While both were fully allowed to explore the field (and they did, as Melanie chatted with Gabriel Vasconcelos, Corbin Mims, and KC Chandler, and Sincere with Sol Dean), it wasn’t until Sincere started lying to Melanie about his interactions with Sol (including kissing her outside of a challenge) that he became the de facto villain of the season. Still, Melanie kept giving him more chances, and before he left for Casa Amor, they were finally on somewhat solid ground.

If Casa Amor was a test, Sincere squeaked by with a passing grade. He happily connected with SCAD student Amora Robinson—also kissing her outside of challenges—but walked back into the villa solo, where Melanie was waiting for him. Their reunion was sweet but was quickly tested again during Movie Night, where Sincere’s two-timing was laid bare for everyone to see. Melanie cried and accused him of making her look like an idiot, and even the guys couldn’t justify Sincere’s actions.

To make matters worse, when their relatives arrived on Family Day, neither party was optimistic about their relationship. Sincere’s stepfather, Benjamin, expressed disappointment in Sincere’s actions, while Melanie’s mom and sister begged her to take off the rose-colored glasses. Melanie’s mom even asked her, “Why are you going to give him a second chance when there are so many others waiting for their first?” Sincere and Melanie were the only Love Island USA couple who had a negative Family Day experience and didn’t take a joyful group photo, which fans noticed was conspicuously absent from the Love Island USA Instagram carousel. Still, after some thought and discussion, Melanie decided to stay with Sincere and give him yet another chance.

Sincere and Melanie make it to the final four, and in the finale they are treated to their “first date.” They were whisked off to a floating island where Sincere gave Melanie a massage (after she won at rock-paper-scissors), and they made homemade pizza together. They seem to really enjoy each other’s company, but the test has always been whether Sincere can commit to Melanie without being tempted by his wandering eye. At the end of the date, they talk about having their second date in Philadelphia after leaving the villa.

By the end of the episode, Sincere and Melanie came in third in the Love Island USA finale, losing out on the $100K cash prize.

With a small, aging group of senior working royals, King Charles has fewer people than ever to carry out official duties. But there’s one member of the family he’s always counted on, and that’s his sister, Princess Anne. The Princess Royal, 75, kicked off a tour of South Korea with her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, on July 13, and body language expert Darren Stanton shares why Anne was the ideal person for the job.

“I think immense trust is placed in her by The King,” Stanton says. “The fact Anne and Tim Laurence have been chosen for this trip shows that.”

The Princess Royal carried out a wide range of engagements on Tuesday ranging from a solemn event at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery to a visit to one of the world’s largest shipbuilders. Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Stanton says that it’s clear during her tour that the hard-working Princess Royal is admired in South Korea.

“You can also see that the people she is meeting in Korea have immense respect in her,” he shares. “They show a lot of submissive gestures, but also seem to be really warming to her. People can often be subservient out of fear or nerves, but the broad duchenne smiles on the faces of the people she is meeting shows that this subservience comes from a place of real respect.”

On Tuesday, July 14, the Princess Royal and Laurence traveled to Seoul, attending an event for UK-Korea Sustainable Fashion Futures, visiting Korea University and meeting with representatives from Save the Children, a charity she’s been involved with since 1970. She even met members of the K-Pop group NMIXX during a reception celebrating the UK–Republic of Korea partnership.

“What I have seen of the trip so far really demonstrates why the trust The King has in her is so well placed,” Stanton says of the “incredibly successful start” to the tour. “She is such a natural.”

He notes that the people she’s met “appear to be overjoyed to be in her company,” sharing that “confident and happy” Anne “also seems to be enjoying herself on the trip.”

Even though 22-year-old Haitian-American Kayda Bosse entered the Love Island USA season 8 villa as a bombshell, she soon integrated into the cast and paired long-term with original villa member 26-year-old Greek-Brit Zach Georgiou. Their relationship weathered the storm of jealousy, snide comments, and heartbreaking moments—though they made it to the finale, where they placed fourth in the competition.

They were the first couple sent to The Hideaway, but Zach’s jealousy and vindictive behavior (which you can read more about in our mid-season recap) constantly pushed Kayda’s (and the audience’s) limits.

During Casa Amor, Zach connected with USC film student Alannah Keyser, who had previously made out with his brother Charlie, a former Love Island contestant. (Weird!) He kissed her outside of a challenge, and a photo of the moment sent Kayda into a spiral during the forced separation. Alannah was soon removed from the series after a video of her using a racial slur resurfaced online, forcing Zach to go back to the villa alone. Thankfully for him, Kayda decided not to couple with her Casa connection, Chay Nehra, and she and Zach were reunited. But during Movie Night, Kayda discovered that Zach intentionally withheld information about Alannah’s departure and his subsequent solo arrival at the villa, and she rightfully calls it shady.

None of this is enough to break them up, and the couple soon decides to close their relationship off and make it “exclusive,” though they’re not yet boyfriend and girlfriend. Trinity calls it a “situationship,” which upsets Kayda, and she defends their slower pace. When their families arrive in Fiji for Family Day, both sides express support for their relationship: Kayda’s mom and sister notice that he makes her happy, and Zach’s siblings encourage him to tell her the depth of his feelings.

Kayda and Zach make it to the final four couples, and in the finale, they take a boat ride to a cozy waterfront dinner. While it’s billed as a romantic getaway, fans online noticed that their production budget was likely much smaller than that of other couples who received more elaborate dates, calling out Kayda and Zach's dinner as "prison sandwiches by a swamp." The pair came in fourth place during the finale, decided by America’s vote.

Given the real-time nature of Love Island USA’s filming schedule, Kayda and Zach are just now reintegrating into their lives and haven’t publicly commented on their relationship status. However, season 8 winner Trinity Tatum posted to her Instagram Story, calling out fans' "hate and ignorant comments" towards Zach. Kayda reposted the story, but hasn't made any further comments.

Bombshell Jen Terry has also weighed in on their dynamic. In an appearance on SiriusXM's "Smith Sisters Live," after the finale, she admitted that she doesn't understand "the Zach hate" and reaffirmed his connection with Kayda. "Zach is obsessed with Kayda. I’m not kidding. He is obsessed with her," she said. "Always touching her, always hanging out, laughing together. They’re like little kids together, honestly. That’s why I’m confused. I’m lost. Like the rest of the United States, I’m a very dedicated three-week-long fan of Erling Haaland (even if I’m rooting for England to bring it home). After Norway lost to England over the weekend, it seemed like I’d have to go to a Manchester City match to get my Haaland fix, but on Monday, July 13, the Norwegian royal family gave the world an extra dose of Viking fun when they welcomed the country’s World Cup team to Oslo’s royal palace.

More than 90,000 fans gathered outside the palace to greet the team, who had never made the quarterfinals of the World Cup until this summer. Inside, Haaland and his fellow players enjoyed a private drinks reception with King Harald, Crown Prince Haakon, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus.

It wasn’t the brother/sister duo’s first time meeting Norway’s World Cup team—Ingrid Alexandra shared a locker room hug with a shirtless Haaland after the team’s July 5 win against Brazil. Their father, Crown Prince Haakon, also met with the players and gave an inspirational speech after their loss to England on July 11.

"When you get home, the King would like to invite you to the palace," Crown Prince Haakon said, adding, "But as I told you, you have every right to feel disappointed. Even so, the rest of us are immensely grateful, incredibly proud of you, and believe you've given this country something truly invaluable."

Haakon's wife, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, did not join the rest of her family as she's on medical leave recovering from a lung transplant.

While the atmosphere inside the palace was decidedly royal, Crown Prince Haakon and his children let their hair down and joined in the celebrations with the fans outside. The future king even beat a drum during the team's famous Viking row as Ingrid Alexandra and Sverre Magnus rowed along.

Following nearly 15 years at the helm of Balmain, Olivier Rousteing has found his next job. On July 14, the French designer was named creative director of Rabanne. He succeeds Julien Dossena, who left the house earlier this year after a 13-year run.

“Joining Rabanne is a tremendous honor. This is a house that has always challenged convention, transforming bold ideas into creations that have shaped fashion history. Its spirit of innovation, craftsmanship, and fearless creativity has inspired generations, and today it inspires me,” Rousteing said in a statement.

The appointment marks a major milestone in Rousteing's career. In 2011, at just 25 years old, he took over as the Balmain creative director from Christophe Decarnin, making him one of the youngest designers ever to lead a historic French fashion house. Over the next decade, he transformed Balmain from a relatively niche label into a global luxury powerhouse. His tenure was defined by high-glamour runways—including shows featuring performances by Cher—along with collections that modernized Pierre Balmain's signature codes: sculptural shoulders, military-inspired tailoring, and lavish embellishment.

Unlike many designers who remain behind the scenes, Rousteing became one of fashion's most recognizable faces, amplified by the “Balmain Army,” a group of celebrity and model supporters including Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and Zendaya. Over the years, he dressed Kim Kardashian for every major event, from Paris Fashion Week to her 2014 pre-wedding festivities, created custom looks for Beyoncé during the Renaissance era, and outfitted Tyla in a sand sculpture-inspired gown that became one of the most talked-about looks of the 2024 Met Gala.

While fashion insiders were disappointed to see the departure of Dossena—who is credited with transforming Rabanne from a fragrance business into one of Paris Fashion Week's most consistently praised ready-to-wear brands—the appointment feels like a natural fit. Both Balmain and Rabanne share a history of spectacle, over-the-top embellishment, and high-glamour silhouettes; similarly, Rousteing's affinity for experimentation aligns with the house's legacy of material innovation and futuristic design.

From a business standpoint, Rousteing not only has enormous global name recognition (his personal Instagram boasts more than 9 million followers) but also proven commercial success. During his time at Balmain, the brand's revenue reportedly grew tenfold, as the house expanded its retail footprint and accessories and menswear offerings. His long-standing relationships with some of the world's biggest celebrities also position him well to bring renewed visibility to Rabanne at a moment when fashion houses are placing great value on cultural relevance.

This is not an entirely surprising announcement. Since Rousteing exited Balmain last November, industry speculation has linked him to Puig, the Spanish luxury group that owns Rabanne, with reports intensifying in recent months. That said, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the debut. Rousteing will stage his first show for the brand at Paris Fashion Week in March 2027.

Kendall Jenner wore GapStudio to the 2026 Met Gala, but Hailey Bieber is loyal to Gap's denim department on the daily. By my count, Bieber has worn her favorite jeans from the label almost 15 times since last August. On July 16, a limited-edition denim collection, called "The Hailey Jean," made her an official Gap Girl.

Bieber's love for Gap's summer jeans is so strong that she teamed up with the San Franciscan brand to release two styles of jeans and star in the campaign. “Gap has been a part of my wardrobe since I was a kid, so this came together very organically,” Bieber said in the press release. Naturally, her beloved '90s Low-Rise Loose Jeans—known for their hip-hugging waistband and ultra-wide legs—are the star of the collaboration.

Last fall, the "Midnight Indigo" color became her signature shade. (Perhaps she was influenced by the denim trend on Balenciaga's, Coach's, and Prada's runways.) But that was before the American brand gave Bieber free rein to reimagine the Low-Rise Loose and Extra Baggy Jeans in six Gap washes.

Inside the pockets of the Hailey Jeans, Gap printed Bieber's signature and birth year. "1996 was the year I was born and I get a lot of style inspiration from the ’90s because there was something so effortless about that era and the way people wore denim," Bieber added in her statement. For context, that year, Kate Moss became synonymous with Calvin Klein jeans; Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy frequently appeared in blue straight-leg styles; and Aaliyah became the face of Tommy Jeans.

"We wanted the campaign and the collection to capture that same feeling in a way that felt modern, nostalgic, and personal," Bieber said. In the months leading up to the campaign, the Rhode founder used that same effortless energy to style the Gap jeans with white button-downs, cropped tank tops, vintage crewnecks, the flip-flops trend—and the occasional four-figure The Row bag.

For the shoot, photographer Mario Sorrenti and stylist Alastair McKimm channeled the '90s feel of the Low-Rise Loose style. In one shot, Bieber appears in dark-wash denim with a black crop top styled over a white long-sleeve tee. (Back in the day, Mary Kate Olsen adored the two-shirt look, before Kendall Jenner revived it last summer.) Beyond the Hailey Bieber of it all, 2026 has been a big year for Gap: The label added Victoria Beckham to its growing list of designer collaborators; Zac Posen created custom GapStudio looks for Katie Holmes, Chase Infiniti, Claire Danes, and Jenner; and the brand even dipped its toe into 2026 World Cup mania.

Wimbledon might be over, but I’m still thinking about Princess Kate’s outfits. The Princess of Wales attended three days of the 2026 tennis championships, wearing a tradition-breaking blue trouser suit, a vintage-inspired red peplum dress and a floaty green midi dress with cape detail. But while her outfits were all brand-new, she looked to familiar favorites for her jewelry.

Whether it was her favorite Van Cleef & Arpels earrings, the lapis and moonstone drops she wore with her suit or the ruby and diamond set she’s been wearing more regularly lately, Kate went for tried-and-true pieces of jewelry. Although she’s occasionally worn new pieces to Wimbledon, jewelry expert Nilesh Rakholia says that the Princess of Wales is looking to Princess Diana when it comes to building visual association through jewelry.

“Wimbledon isn't just another engagement, it's tradition, and for the Princess of Wales specifically, it comes with a particular kind of scrutiny,” Rakholia, founder of Abelini, shares. Since it’s televised, he says the championships present “a very different kind of pressure than an ordinary public appearance,” adding that Wimbledon “is exactly the kind of occasion where people reach for what's proven rather than what's new.”

Princess Kate certainly has her favorites when it comes to jewelry, wearing the same pieces from jewelers like Kiki McDonough, Cartier, Daniella Draper and Spells of Love on repeat. Rakholia says that “seeing the same pendant or the same earrings appear again at moments like this builds a quiet familiarity over time,” pointing to Kate’s late mother-in-law as an example.

“Think about Princess Diana, mention her name and certain pieces come to mind almost instantly: her sapphire engagement ring, the pearl choker she wore so often it became part of her visual identity,” he notes. “That association wasn't built in a single appearance, it took years of repetition.”

Sapphires and pearls were two of Diana’s signatures, and Rakholia suggests that Kate might be heading the same way with rubies. “I think we may be watching the early stages of the same thing happen with Kate and her ruby pieces,” he says. “It's still early days by comparison, but the same quiet, cumulative process that made certain jewelry inseparable from Diana's image seems to be underway.”

The Princess of Wales first wore her G. Collins & Sons ruby pendant during a 2017 tour of Poland, and the diamond halo design is very similar to her famous sapphire engagement ring, which was originally worn by Princess Diana. This summer, Kate has been wearing the necklace and its matching drop earrings more frequently, recently sporting the set to a Cancer Research U.K. reception.

As for rubies, they also happen to be Prince George's birthstone, and the future King will turn 13 next week—a fitting reason to wear ruby jewelry more than ever.

After six dramatic, divisive, discourse-filled weeks, Love Island USA season 8 came to an end with the loved-up July 12 finale. Or rather, it came to a pause. Moments after host (and Emmy nominee) Ariana Madix announced this year's winners, she revealed that season 8's Islanders will return for a reunion special that surely everyone will be talking about.

Last year, the reality TV phenomenon held its first reunion co-hosted by both Madix and Andy Cohen, who's known for drilling Bravolebrities and The Traitors alums on their respective reunions. Love Island USA's season 8 reunion will be released on Peacock on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. The special has become typical programming for the series ever since its 2024 breakout season. (Love Island USA season 4 marked its first-ever reunion, but it skipped season 5 before resuming with the following.)

According to Peacock, season 8 continued Love Island USA's upward trajectory. New viewers made up 30 percent of the reality hit's audience over its first five weeks, and the show has brought over 4 billion video views across the streamer's social channels.

Who will host the 'Love Island USA' season 8 reunion?

Andy Cohen is set to join Ariana Madix to host the Love Island USA season 8 reunion. This will be the second year featuring the co-hosts after they led the emotional season 7 reunion.

As reported by Deadline, "Madix and Cohen will reunite with the season’s winners, fan-favorite couples, and the bombshells to talk about their experience in the Fiji villa."

Which cast members will attend the 'Love Island USA' season 8 reunion?

Though Peacock has yet to confirm any cast members appearing at the reunion, all of season 8's Islanders will likely be invited to return. It's most likely that this season's final seven couples will attend, including winners Trinity Tatum and Bryce Dettloff, Aniya Harvey and Carl Schmidt, Melanie Moreno and Sincere Rhea, Kayda Bosse and Zach Georgiou, KC Chandler and Tierra Davis, Kenzie Annis and Dylan Wrona, and Parmida Keshani and Corbin Mims.

Of course, there is one Islander who will likely be left off the guest list. Casa Amor addition Alannah Keyser left season 8 after just three days on the show, due to a resurfaced recording in which she used a racist slur. These exits have unfortunately become a common occurrence on the show; last year, both Cierra Ortega and Yulissa Escobar were pulled due to past use of slurs, and Vasana Montgomery was removed from season 8's original lineup before it premiered. Neither Ciera nor Yulissa attended the season 7 finale, so Alannah likely will not join the rest of the cast.

Will there be a 'Love Island USA' season 9?

Short answer: Duh. Love Island USA season 9 has yet to be officially confirmed, but there's little chance that Peacock won't renew America's biggest dating show. The streamer didn't even announce season 8 until mid-March earlier this year, so impatient fans will have to trust that casting and prep are happening behind the scenes. (The official application for season 9 is already live.)

In early June, The Sun U.S. reported that Peacock executives were focused on tightening the casting process after Vasana Montgomery's exit from the show. A source highlighted the difficulty of vetting today "given all the different technologies and social medias that have been in and out over the years." (Both Vasana's and Alannah Keyser's scandals stemmed from resurfaced Snapchat videos.)

"The network is actively looking into ways to better vet contestants that give a more thorough scan of their social media profiles," the insider added. "They are looking into AI options that will help dissect a potential contestant’s entire digital footprint and ensure that these slip-ups do not happen in the future. Precautionary measures are underway and there will be a change, an improvement, to the vetting process next season."

Will there be a 'Beyond the Villa' season 3?

Peacock has also confirmed that the season 8 Islanders will return to our screens beyond the upcoming reunion. On the night of season 8's finale, the streamer revealed that Beyond the Villa, the spinoff that follows previous Islanders' lives outside of the show, has been renewed for a third season.

According to Deadline, "the cast for the series will be confirmed later this year, with season 3 set to premiere in 2027."

Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer turned 34 on July 10, and they celebrated their big day in style with a Turkish holiday. Princess Diana’s twin nieces took a birthday trip with Amelia’s husband, Greg Mallett, and Eliza’s fiancé, Channing Millerd, and Amelia shared plenty of sunny snapshots of their getaway on Instagram.

"[The glow is from] a combination of things," her makeup artist, Nick Barose, tells me, adding that he usually starts this full glam process by scrubbing down Nyong'o's arms with a warm washcloth. Friends! As I’ve told Andrea Stanley, Marie Claire’s executive editor, I’m running out of days. And not in a dramatic way, just in an “I’m about to get married and going to be out of the office for the next couple weeks” way. Exciting, right? My “bridal era” is coming to an end—and bringing with it some thoughts on the fashion peanut gallery’s obsession with being “timeless.”

From what I’ve seen, the bridal industrial complex (a.k.a. Wedding TikTok) will make you think that everything related to your wedding should be timeless. When you look at your photos, every choice from your ring to your dress to your glam should stand the test of time. Well, I call BS. Instead, I think every piece you choose should feel exactly like you at that moment. And that goes for your everyday style too. It’s not about hating microtrends or dressing for random people’s approval; no, it’s about choosing items that make others say “that fill-in-the-blank is so Your Name Here.”

So how does one do that? Well, for me that starts with noticing patterns—being cognizant of my wardrobe staples over the years as well as the items I always return to. That exercise prevents me from impulse shopping. Here’s what’s on my list for summer.

Striped Shirts

Just the other day, as I unpacked my Uniqlo shopping bag, my fiancé joked, “You’re always gonna have a striped shirt, aren’t you?” And you know what, he’s right. There’s something that just feels so intentional about them that will always keep me coming back for more.

Big Shorts

Try as I might, I’m just never going to be a hot pants girl. And I’m definitely not going to be a capri pants girl…which leaves me with what I like to call “big shorts”: a catch-all for either Bermuda or wide-leg styles. They’re simply where I feel most comfortable (whether or not everyone else believes in the big shorts agenda remains to be seen). But honestly, it doesn’t matter because I’ve loved this style of short for well over 15 years.

Button-Down Shirts

“Elegant” is a word I use a lot when I describe my personal style (on its best days, I should say). “Refined” is another. Button-down shirts, to me, inherently embody those words. Hence, the reason I have an arsenal of them ready to be deployed for any given occasion.

Slim Sneakers

Sneaker trends come and go, but a low-profile style that I can easily slip off and on will always make the top of my list. They’re ideal for commuting and then stashing under your desk, plus I find they look the best with trousers or shorts.

Princess Margaret was known for her creative spirit and love of the arts, and her grandson, Sam Chatto, is following in the late royal’s footsteps. On Monday, July 13, the ceramic artist announced that he’d proposed to his girlfriend Eleanor Ekserdjian—and he made her unconventional engagement ring himself.

“I’m really delighted to say that Ellie and I are engaged. And we couldn’t be happier,” Chatto, 29, wrote on Instagram, adding, “I proposed with a porcelain ring which I made.”

Eleanor’s unusual ring is shown in a black-and-white snapshot, with the bride-to-be crossing her arms to show off the twisted design on a simple ceramic band. The handmade design is the first royal engagement ring not to feature gemstones, and Nilesh Rakholia, Founder of Abelini, tells Marie Claire that it’s a reminder that modern couples are looking beyond traditional symbols of luxury.

“An engagement ring is traditionally seen as a piece of jewelry chosen to represent commitment, but Sam Chatto’s porcelain ring takes that idea one step further by making the act of creation part of the proposal itself,” Rakholia says.

Sam, who specializes in ceramics and pottery, and Ekserdjian, an abstract artist, have connected through their creative sides, and Rakholia says that the ring “feels like a very authentic choice” for the two artists.

“Both Sam and Eleanor understand the importance of craftsmanship, creativity and the story behind an object, so a handmade ring becomes more than just something beautiful to wear, it becomes a piece of their shared history,” the jewelry pro says.

It’s possible Sam proposed with the porcelain ring and will give his fiancée another design for everyday use, as Rakholia points out that the material is extremely delicate.

“Unlike a diamond, which is valued for its durability and rarity, the beauty of porcelain comes from the skill involved in shaping and creating it,” he shares, noting that the ring “may not be designed for the same level of daily wear.” However, Rakholia says the “delicate nature” of Eleanor's ring “may make it feel even more like a treasured artwork rather than a conventional piece of jewelry.”

The couple sparked engagement rumors when Eleanor was invited to spend Christmas with the Royal Family in 2024, and she once again headed to Sandringham for the holiday festivities in December 2025. The soon-to-be royal bride also attended Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling's wedding on June 6.

As for Sam and Eleanor's big day, Buckingham Palace shared that a wedding will take place “next spring.” Senior members of the Royal Family such as King Charles—who a representative said is “very happy for them both”—are likely to attend the ceremony.

Shirtdresses dominated the stands at Wimbledon 2026, thanks to Elle Fanning, Priyanka Chopra, and Cynthia Erivo. Across the pond in New York, Zendaya's stylist, Law Roach, must have taken notes. Following appearances in Schiaparelli Couture, Louis Vuitton, and vintage Givenchy by Alexander McQueen on The Odyssey red carpet last week, the A-lister wore a white T-shirtdress for the taping of The Today Show on July 13. The summer staple worked surprisingly well with the ancient Greek theme of the film, which sees Zendaya in white as the goddess of war, Athena.

Before Christopher Nolan's blockbuster hits theaters on July 17, the final week of red carpet events coincides with NYC's latest heatwave. Zendaya showed up to handle the humidity and rising temperatures in a little white dress from Jacquemus's Spring 2027 fashion show.

In true Zendaya style, this wasn't an ordinary shirtdress: The classic crew neckline transitioned into triangular cut-outs around her waist, offering a version of the dress trend seen on her Valentino gown in London last week. Zendaya's personal archive holds its fair share of unconventional shirtdresses. Two years ago, she promoted her tennis-focused film, Challengers, in a vintage LWD with a popped polo collar from Ralph Lauren's Spring 1992 collection.

As recently as March 2026, the Louis Vuitton brand ambassador attended the fashion house's Fall 2026 runway show in a spiky-collared button-down and a bubble-hem skirt. Zendaya's bold black belt fashioned the separates into one of her boldest shirtdresses yet.

A few months ago, I was packing for a flight and heading out the next day to shoot a World Cup commercial when I got a call from my agent: “They’re pulling you from the spot.”

The brand had recently implemented AI software that flagged potential talent for “risk.” Mine was that I spoke in support of trans rights. Anti-inclusion politicians have made the conversation around trans athletes in sports so muddied and full of false fearmongering that brands lacking moral clarity are running from mere association.

The truth is, trans people have been competing in sports for decades, and will continue to participate as this smoke screen from bad faith legislators and anti-LGBT groups cloak the real damage being done. As with so many other manufactured issues we fall for, women and girls will suffer the most.

While bills being brought across the country tape a "protect women and girls" banner over their sexist laws, women across the country are being stripped of reproductive rights and being left to bleed out in hospital parking lots.

A recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling affirmed the wave of draconian state controls on who can play girls' sports when it decided athletic eligibility can be based on a person’s biological sex. These laws are some of the most intense political assaults on LGBTQ+ people in recent years, and they are turning back the clock on our rights, including revived threats against marriage equality.

How do you enforce who is “girl enough” to play sports? In my home state of Washington, the most extreme proposal of its kind is before voters on the November ballot. Measure I-638 would require all girls—but not boys—to be medically sex certified before they can play sports.

In a country rife with sexual assault, young girls would have to undergo invasive inspections of their genitals, or pay for a DNA or hormone test, as part of their school sports physicals. Doctors say genital inspections are not only medically unnecessary to play sports, they can traumatize and physically harm young girls.

In their witch hunt for a few trans kids in the entire state who play school sports, I-638’s backers will drive thousands of girls out of sports because their parents cannot afford the necessary testing or refuse to submit their daughters to genital inspections.

That’s a feature, not a bug, of these laws. Preventing girls from playing sports is the whole point. Spaces that leave girls and women feeling empowered are the spaces they want to constrict—and then eliminate.

These policies make all girls and women less safe. They create new ways to question and control women and girls, and that affects all of us.

Imagine you’re 13 years old and worrying: Am I the "wrong" kind of girl to play sports? Am I too tall, too boyish, or so fast that politicians will question whether I am girl enough to play on a team with my friends?

I was that girl at 13. I didn't fit the stereotypes of how some people think a girl should look, act, and compete. If today’s state laws policing girls who play sports had been in place then, I might have never joined a soccer team and never went on to win two FIFA World Cup titles and an Olympic gold medal—all because I wasn’t the right kind of girl in the eyes of some politicians.

Even if I had not become a professional athlete, my life would have been dramatically different without the joys, friendships, and life lessons that came with playing sports. Every girl deserves to have that experience, and no girl deserves to be discriminated against. That’s why all girls, including trans girls, should be able to play with their classmates in the sports they love.

Girls of color are the first to be targeted and questioned about their bodies. We can all name Black and Brown athletes who’ve been harassed for how they look or how well they perform in their sport. Girls with short hair or low voices, girls who are taller or stronger, girls who don’t fit someone else’s expectation of femininity, will face further harassment and new demands to prove their eligibility by pulling down their pants.

Attacks on trans girls are feints to throw us off balance and distract from the real issues impacting all Americans, like the costs of groceries and gas, healthcare, and housing. If we really cared about safety and fairness in sports, we’d be breaking down barriers facing girls at every level, protecting them from sexual violence and harassment, and paying professional women athletes on the same scale as their male counterparts.

But they don’t want us to focus on the real issues in women and girls’ sports. It’s no surprise that the man who is bankrolling Washington’s I-638 is a mega-millionaire and major Trump donor. He has no background in women’s sports, yet he claims to be speaking on behalf of women and girls in need of his protection. We don’t need to be “protected” by people like him, and we can speak for ourselves.

Standing up for our trans siblings and welcoming them on the field sends a powerful message to these politicians that we reject their hate and division—and to keep their hands off of our bodies.

Prince William and Princess Kate have made it a tradition to bring their kids to Wimbledon every year, and on Sunday, July 12, Prince George and Princess Charlotte joined their parents for the men’s finals on an especially hot summer day. George, 12, and Charlotte, 11, tried their best to cool down with Queen Camilla-approved battery-operated fans as the temperatures reached close to 90 degrees, but with the royal box directly in the sun, it became necessary to make a quick escape.

Fortunately, Prince William jumped into “dad mode” as the Princess of Wales carried out her duties as the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC).

The Prince of Wales, Prince George and Princess Charlotte took an extended break from the tennis action at one point during the men’s finals, according to influencer Laura-Ann Barr, whose seat faced the royal box. In a series of Instagram Stories, she pointed out that the “sun is just too much,” adding that organizers started handing out Wimbledon-branded sun hats in the royal box and Prince William had “taken the kids out for a break!”

With men and boys required to wear a jacket and tie in the royal box, it’s no wonder that the future King and his heir were especially uncomfortable in the heat. Princess Charlotte eventually returned to the box in a video shared by Barr on her Story, but then the Princess of Wales and her daughter left, with Barr writing that the duo likely headed off to find the others, who had been gone “30 to 45 minutes” at that point.

By the time the third set started, the royals were still missing in action, but Barr shared a video of the Wales family returning to their seats, noting it was “one hour later.”

Princess Charlotte followed in Queen Camilla's footsteps and was on double fan duty once she was settled in, pointing a white plastic fan at herself while also using a traditional paper fan. Meanwhile, Prince George held a battery-operated fan in front of his face during the match, and Princess Kate—wearing her old favorite L.K. Bennett sun hat—did the same.

Despite the uncomfortable temperatures, George and Charlotte appeared to be having a great time at the men's finals, laughing as they donned their Wimbledon hats and cheering for their mom as the Princess of Wales presented the trophy to Jannik Sinner.

It’s been a summer of royal weddings and engagements, and now the Royal Family is celebrating some baby news after Princess Alexandra’s granddaughter, Flora Vesterberg, announced she’s given birth to her first child.

“Our daughter Isabel Marina Vesterberg arrived safely on the morning of 8 July,” the new mom posted on Instagram, sharing a photo of her daughter sleeping in a bonnet and embroidered dress. “Timothy and I are overjoyed and full of love for her.”

Flora, who is married to Swedish financier Timothy Vesterberg, is King Charles’s third cousin and her grandmother, Princess Alexandra, was Queen Elizabeth’s first cousin. In her Instagram post, the royal—who is 61st in the line of succession—explained the touching meaning behind her daughter’s name.

“She’s named for the blessing that she is as well as my paternal great-grandmother,” Flora explained. The name Isabel traditionally means “God is my oath,” and the baby’s middle name, Marina, follows a long line of royal tradition.

As Flora noted, her great-grandmother was Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, but there are several other Marinas in the Royal Family, including Flora’s cousin Marina Windsor. Marina, who married Nico Macauley on June 20, served as the maid of honor in Timothy and Flora’s September 2021 wedding.

The newest royal baby’s name also has an additional personal meaning for the couple, as Flora wrote in her caption.

“Her name also means ‘of the sea’ where we always feel most at peace in Scotland and Sweden,” she wrote, adding, “Thank you for your thoughtful messages xx.”

But it was certainly worth the wait: On July 12, the rapper ended his sold-out, three-night residency with surprise performances from Beyoncé and Rihanna.
