Maybe it's the news that a Practical Magic sequel is in the works or the collective rage of every female-identifying person I know bubbling to the surface, but witches have never been hotter than they are right now. I mean, who doesn't want to feel powerful and beguiling while you face a society that seems hell-bent on curtailing your basic humanity? It's why I often turn to my beauty routine, and fragrance especially, to give me that one-two punch of energy and confidence to move through my day-to-day life. And while I'd love to be the woman who is known for a single signature scent (or create a bespoke fragrance just for me), alas, I am too much of a perfume nerd to limit myself to just one option. Plus, I hadn't yet found a scent that could channel that sexy witch energy I've been so desperately craving this spring, until I spritzed Chloé Atelier des Fleurs Cedrus Eau de Parfum at my desk a few weeks ago and immediately added it to my fragrance collection.

At this point in my career, I understand the notes I return to again and again. I know they're super popular at the moment but gourmand fragrances are a pass for me—although the marshmallow perfume trend is very intriguing—and I don't typically care for anything that's very spicy, too rich in oud, or that's exceptionally fruity. Instead, I lean towards woody, aquatic, floral, amber, and salt scents, all of which compliment my body chemistry beautifully. Until now, I had never really given a lot of thought to smelling like... a tree.

That's not to say Chloé Cedrus is a straight up Christmas tree overload of pine and cedar (which would make a very nice holiday candle). Rather, this perfume offers up a feminine take on a quintessentially woody aroma, with plenty of grounding florals and musks to soften the base. Given that it's part of the Chloé girl world, the scent is of course bohemian, but more refined Earth mother (read: sexy witch) without the hippy, patchouli, incense vibe.

Notes of cardamom, bergamot, and pink peppercorn kick off the top of the scent for an invigorating and slightly spicy first whiff before drying down to a warm heart of Bulgarian rose and earthy cassia bark. The base of vetiver, sandalwood, and cedarwood rounds out the wood-forward fragrance for a perfect balance between elegant and smoky, musky and tender. It's as if you stepped out of a foggy clearing deep in the forest, dressed in some slinky black dress that demands everyone's attention while long tendrils of hair cascade down your back in the crisp twilight air. You know, witch but make it fashion.

Best of all, this is an extremely approachable eau de parfum—definitely safe to blind buy—without ever feeling basic or boring. On the contrary, it's both comforting and intriguing at the same time, luring you in closer to take another whiff. I don't know about you, but that's exactly how I want the people around me to feel when I step into a room—intrigued and a little nervous that a such a powerful woman has entered their orbit. Basically, if you're hunting for some big witch energy this spring (although I can see myself wearing this scent all year long) Chloé Cedrus might become your new fail-safe fragrance of 2025.

Fashion Week is underway in New York City, and this season, the new fall collections have come with a side of frigid, wet weather. The early days of the week coincided with an overnight snowstorm and rainy conditions. However, much of New York's fashion set opted for unconventional winter shoes—like sky-high heels—rather than protective rain or snow boots.

Wedges were spotted alongside slingbacks and peep-toe mules (another burgeoning spring footwear trend), while famously water-adverse fabrics like suedes, leathers, and ballet core-inspired satin were at every turn.

Suede Knee-High Boots

The fashion set proved in droves that suede knee-high boots are a fall and winter must-have. However, they opted for a high heel instead of a pragmatic flat-footed sole. The most popular hue was a deep mousse-y brown, perfect for styling monochromatically with other chocolate accessories.

Skimpy Slingback Stilettos

Slingback-style heels have been trending for a few months now, so it makes sense that attendees all but lived in them at Fashion Week. The most popular shade was a just-bitten red, although I also found them in an equally trendy burgundy hue.

Peep-Toe Heels

Peep-toe heels have been returned from the early aughts for spring. They're the perfect happy medium between a closed-toe pump and a traditional sandal.

Strappy Summery Sandals

Maybe the most contentious of these already controversial shoe trends was the appearance of strappy sandals despite the frigid temperatures. Outside of the Calvin Klein show, toe-bearing sandals were styled with sheer tights for a touch of coverage.

Sky-High Wedges

Another hack for (slightly) less painful heels? Opting for a wedge. The trendy silhouette was another fashion insider favorite this season. They also give wearers in New York a touch more stability when trekking on the icy, wet streets.

Satin Ballerina Styles

Balletcore has been a trend for some time now, but given the snowy weather, it was an unexpected choice on the street outside of the Fall 2025 collections,. The look was most popular at shows like Sandy Liang, where the girlhood aesthetic still rages on.

Printed Boots

There are no boring boots here! The maximalist options spotted this season at fashion week came in animal prints, like leopard, zebra, and snakeskin. These prints were popular among the street-style, who mixed them with pieces in other colorful patterns.

Launching a fragrance is nothing new for the luxury fashion houses of the world. Most major European designers have at least one scent to accompany the season's newest designs. But Matthieu Blazy is anything but typical. The creative director of Bottega Veneta has once again ushered in a new era for the storied Italian house with the launch of its first in-house fragrance collection, a luxurious five-piece olfactory romp that's been 57 years in the making.

Weaving together Venetian influences from the North, South East, and West—not unlike Bottega Veneta's famed Intrecciato pattern—each of the new perfumes utilizes 100% natural origin essences (as opposed to synthetic ingredients). The fragrances—which were developed in collaboration with Kering Beauty's perfumers—utilize classic notes, such as orange blossom and bergamot, that mingle with more international selections, such as Spanish ladanum in the Acqua Sale scent, French Angelica oil in Colpo di Sole, Madagascar geranium in Déjà Minuit, Brazilian pink pepper in Alchemie, and French orris butter in Come with Me.

And then there's the absolutely stunning bottle. According to the Bottega Veneta team, the rippling design is meant to provide a smooth, sensual feel to emphasize the tactile experience as much as the smell itself; it also serves as a nod to the lagoon environment of Venice, the brand's origin city. Each bottle also contains distinct air bubbles to recreate the mouth blown aesthetic that is so integral to the region's legendary glassblowing technique. "This innovative effect pays tribute to the centuries-long tradition of Murano glassblowing—a craft most recently integrated into Blazy’s Winter '24 show space," says a representative for the brand. Typically considered imperfections, Blazy has allowed the air bubbles to create individually unique bottles, making it a truly bespoke experience for ardent fragrance fans.

As if the design itself wasn't grand enough for your perfume display, each 100mL bottle sits on a base of green Verde Saint Denis marble—the same material that is regularly incorporated into Blazy's store designs and that is signature to Venetian architecture. Smooth, weighty, and delightfully lavish, it's exactly the type of unexpected detail for which the creative director is so well known. Not to mention it makes the $450 price tag feel a bit more worthwhile.

Nikki Ogunnaike, Editor-in-Chief: "I was blown away at first sniff. According to the packaging, the notes are juniper oil and labdanum absolute, but with my skin chemistry, it smelled more masculine, like woodsy or patchouli. 10/10 no notes. I kind of can't stop smelling my wrists now!"

Come with Me

Hannah Baxter, Beauty Director: "I'm not going to lie, I didn't love this scent on me when I first dabbed it on my wrists. It's a little more robust and powdery than I typically like my fragrance choices to be, but all it took was ten minutes of marinating on my skin to change my mind. The next time I took a whiff, it smelled...sexy? The Italian bergamot finally emerged to create a rich, sensual, and heady blend with the violet-leaning orris butter. I can't wait to wear this when I go out to a dark bar with lots of old leather banquets and dirty martinis flowing. It's definitely not a daytime fragrance, but that's the beauty of having a fragrance wardrobe—you have a scent for every setting."

Alchemie

Samantha Holender, Beauty Editor: "My advice: Give this fragrance some time to settle. When I first dabbed it on my wrists, I described it as light and airy, even aquatic. But after just 10 minutes on my skin, the scent profile completely changed. It's actually quite earthy, spicy, and smoky—even a hint masculine. It's definitely more of a nighttime scent (contrary to my first impression) without being overwhelming. It's a fragrance someone will notice when they go to hug you, not when you enter a room."

Déjà Minuit

Halie LeSavage, Senior Fashion & Beauty Editor: "Deja Minuit makes a cozy first impression. When I tried it in front of the Marie Claire team, I thought it had a lot in common with my husband’s cologne—and that it was a woodsy complement for an oversize knit sweater and a date inside a snow globe. A few hours later, it’s evolved in a more floral direction with obvious notes of jasmine and geranium. Maybe it’s a little more season-less than I thought. It’s definitely powerful: Even with a slight cold, I don’t have to try hard at all to get a whiff of the drops I dabbed on my wrist."

Colpo di Sole

Lucia Tonelli, Associate Director of Social Media: "My first impression of this scent was, 'What is this?' I wasn’t familiar with the notes (French Angelica oil and Moroccan orange blossom absolute), but I was intrigued. The masculine-leaning scent packs a punch at first spritz, but quickly opens up as it sits on the skin. The scent reminded me of a fresh bed of pine needles—calming, subtle, and a bit wintery—with a slight sweetness that cuts at the sharper notes."

A new sneaker trend is making its way out of the skate park and into street style. After years of Adidas Sambas dominance, Vans are the celebrity-favorite sneaker brand of the moment.

It makes sense: Vans are both extremely comfortable and undeniably cool. I've owned a few pairs over the years, but it's been a while since I've reached for them. Now, A-listers like Gigi Hadid, Jennifer Lawrence, and Emily Ratajkowski have convinced me they deserve a spot on my shoe rack this fall.

The celebrity endorsements have been slowly trickling in over the last few months. Lawrence, a longtime mesh flats devotee, was an early adopter of the brand, swapping one flat shoe for the other in April when she was spotted wearing a butter-yellow pair of Vans. In the weeks since, she has also worn a black pair from the line on her casual strolls around downtown New York City.

By late July, the Vans sneaker trend had made its way to Hadid and Ratajkowski. With her Kelly green trucker hat, white tube socks, and a sliver of a black bralette peeking out from underneath the silk slip, Hadid tapped into the shoe's inherent punkiness. Ratajkowski, on the other hand, opted for baggy khaki trousers and a strappy white tank top when she wore her checkered favorites.

But don't let their pop-punk popularity stop you from test-driving them this season (and next). Options from Vans—either the Old Skool or the Classic Slip-On Sneakers, in particular—follow a similar formula to the other trendy sneakers we’ve seen crop up over the last few months. They’re generally slender in silhouette with a virtually logo-less appearance and come in shades of either black or white, with a few brighter colors sprinkled in. And unlike Dua Lipa's preferred Puma Palermo sneakers, they're often made from sturdy, easy-to-clean canvas or leather.

The brand has also earned a recent designer sneaker stamp of approval similar to that of Adidas’s collaboration with British brand Wales Bonner and Nike’s Kaia Gerber-approved Nike x Bode kicks. This comes courtesy of an early summer partnership with another in-crowd favorite, the New York-based brand Proenza Schouler. The collection, comprised of black and white pairs with a puffy quilted exterior, was quickly adopted by the fashion set as a sporty-chic alternative to warm-weather sandals.
