<p>It's the end of an era...and not just the Eras Tour. On Tuesday, Dec. 3, <a href="https://people.com/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan-break-up-split-exclusive-8754756" target="_blank"><em>People</em></a> reported that Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan have gone their separate ways after a <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan/">year of dating</a>. </p><p>Apparently their busy careers were a major factor in their decision to "take a break," with an inside source telling the outlet, "They are both young and career-focused, so they've decided to take a break." </p><p>Carpenter and Keoghan have not yet made a statement regarding the split.</p><p>The Irish actor and "Espresso" singer were first spotted together in December 2023, and they made their <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan-met-gala-couple-debut/">red carpet debut as a couple</a> at the 2024 Met Gala in May. </p><p>Keoghan has been a strong supporter of Carpenter's music over the past year, having traveled to Singapore when she opened for Taylor Swift during the Eras Tour. The <em>Saltburn</em> star also went on to star in Carpenter's "Please, Please, Please" video this summer (a truly iconic performance, if I do say so myself). </p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2712px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:147.49%;"><img id="YsEX3sCRvGk8scf5KzFdeF" name="GettyImages-2151799996 (1)" alt="Sabrina Carpenter wearing a black gown with a puffy blue bottom standing next to Barry Keoghan at the 2024 Met Gala" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/YsEX3sCRvGk8scf5KzFdeF.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2712" height="4000" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">The couple hit the 2024 Met Gala red carpet together. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><p>The pop star's song "Bed Chem" is widely believed to be about Keoghan, referencing a "thick accent" and being in different time zones. </p><p>However, their "break" might not come as a massive surprise to many fans. <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan-on-and-off/">Split rumors </a>swirled over the summer, with a source telling <a href="https://people.com/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan-relationship-is-on-and-off-exclusive-source-8697092" target="_blank"><em>People</em></a> in August that the two were "on and off." </p><p>The singer herself seemingly admitted that their relationship status was unclear when asked by <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/sabrina-carpenter-espresso-short-n-sweet-taylor-swift-1235036627/" target="_blank"><em>Rolling Stone</em> </a>if she <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan-relationship-status/">considered Keoghan to be her boyfriend</a>. ""How do I skirt around this question?” Carpenter replied during the June interview. </p><p>“The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do," she continued. "Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about. That’s something that comes with the territory.”</p><p>As for whether their split is a Ross and Rachel break or an actual break, watch this space. </p>

<p>Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan are <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan/">not technically boyfriend and girlfriend</a>, it seems.</p><p>One source told <a href="https://people.com/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan-relationship-is-on-and-off-exclusive-source-8697092"><em>People</em></a><em> </em>that the two's relationship is "on and off," in response to the breakup rumors that have been surfacing in the last few days.</p><p>However, fans think Keoghan proved they weren't broken up when he liked Carpenter's sexy <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C-vJrhvvAcG/?img_index=1">Instagram post</a> from this past Friday.</p><p>The popstar has previously expressed that she and the actor are not necessarily using labels. When she was asked in a <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/sabrina-carpenter-espresso-short-n-sweet-taylor-swift-1235036627/"><em>Rolling Stone</em></a><em> </em>interview this past June whether she <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan-relationship-status/">thinks of Keoghan as her boyfriend</a>, Carpenter responded, "How do I skirt around this question?"</p><p>She added, "The (dating) pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do. Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about. That’s something that comes with the territory."</p><div class="instagram-embed"><blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-version="6" style="width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"><p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C75Rfm8Ix2X/" target="_blank">A post shared by Barry Keoghan (@keoghan92)</a></p><p>A photo posted by on </p></blockquote></div><p>Perhaps most significantly, Carpenter <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan-please-please-please-music-video/">cast Keoghan in the music video</a> for her song "Please Please Please," making it seem like she was singing the cheeky lyrics directly to him. That song goes, "Don't bring me to tеars when I just did my makeup so nice / Heartbreak is one thing, my ego's another / I beg you, don't embarrass me, motherf***er"</p><p>The "Espresso" singer and <em>Saltburn </em>actor also haven't been shy about their romance, and have been spotted together at public events on several occasions, including <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/barry-keoghan-sabrina-carpenter-oscars/">at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party</a>, and <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan-met-gala-couple-debut/">at the Met Gala</a>, which is arguably the most public event of all.</p><p>TBH, I just hope they're having fun, whatever their relationship status!</p>

<p>Sabrina Carpenter has somehow gotten more iconic overnight, if you can believe it.</p><p>The singerrrr just released her new single "Please Please Please," as well as the accompanying music video, and I can't decide whether the lyrics or her choice of casting is the most badass part of all this.</p><p>The song is about dating someone new, and her friends warning her about red flags, and in the lyrics she begs said love interest to not "embarrass me, motherf***er."</p><p>Elsewhere, she sings, "I promise 'em that you're different and everyone makes mistakes / But just don't / I heard that you're an actor, so act like a stand-up guy / Whatever devil's inside you, don't let him out tonight / I tell them it's just your culture and everyone rolls their eyes" (via <a href="https://genius.com/Sabrina-carpenter-please-please-please-lyrics">Genius</a>).</p><p>While fans would have made the link between the lyrics—which Carpenter wrote herself, with a little help from <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/jack-antonoff-behind-the-scenes-taylor-swift-the-tortured-poets-department/">Taylor Swift's producer/bestie Jack Antonoff</a>—and <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/barry-keoghan-biceps-and-off-white-dolce-and-gabbana/">the singer's boyfriend Barry Keoghan</a> regardless, the "Espresso" hitmaker took the guessing out of the game by <em>literally casting </em>the Irish actor in her music video.</p><div class="instagram-embed"><blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-version="6" style="width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"><p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C75Rfm8Ix2X/" target="_blank">A post shared by Barry Keoghan (@keoghan92)</a></p><p>A photo posted by on </p></blockquote></div><p>In it, <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan-met-gala-couple-debut/">Carpenter and Keoghan's</a> characters meet in jail, just as she is being let out and he is being taken in. Then throughout the video, Keoghan engages in a bunch of unsavory behavior, such as getting into a fight with some shady characters and stealing a bunch of money, as Carpenter's friends look on disapprovingly.</p><p>Obviously, fans were entirely obsessed with everything about this. When Keoghan posted a promo for the video on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C75Rfm8Ix2X/?img_index=1">Instagram</a>, everyone lost their damn minds.</p><p>"best hard launch i've ever seen," wrote the official Tinder account.</p><p>"I have to sit down," commented someone else.</p><p>"THE GASP I GUSPED," said another.</p><p>"For the love of God please never break up," begged someone else.</p><div class="youtube-video" data-nosnippet ><div class="video-aspect-box"><iframe data-lazy-priority="high" data-lazy-src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/cF1Na4AIecM" allowfullscreen></iframe></div></div><p>With over 2.5 million views on the music video at time of writing, "Please Please Please" is already a hit. Kelce has seen the tour on four continents and possibly counting (Swift resumes the tour in Europe in a matter of days), and Keoghan swung through Singapore to see Carpenter perform there when the tour made its stops there (a total of six, ranging from March 2 to March 9). He was also on hand as his girlfriend performed at Coachella weekend one in April, filming her as she took the stage. Just as Keoghan pulled a Kelce or two in the name of love, Carpenter pulled a Swift, changing the lyrics at the end of her song “Nonsense” during her Coachella set to pay homage to “one of Keoghan’s most infamous scenes in <em>Saltburn</em>, singing, ‘Made his knees so weak, he had to spread mine / He’s drinkin’ my bathwater like it’s red wine,’” <em>Vogue</em> reports, adding that the lyric incited “blood-curdling screams from the audience,” naturally.</p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2826px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:150.04%;"><img id="uQTjarWRbEq8DwwqLYkFTD" name="Barry Sabrina.jpg" alt="Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/uQTjarWRbEq8DwwqLYkFTD.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2826" height="4240" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Continuing the thread at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty in March. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><p>Last month, Keoghan also not-so-subtly <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/barry-keoghan-sabrina-carpenter-skims/"><u>thirsted over Carpenter’s Skims campaign</u></a>, adding further fuel to the already hot rumors of their romance.</p><p>We’ve come a long way “from furtive Los Angeles dinners to striding the Met steps side by side,” as <em>Vogue</em> puts it, and if a moment on the Met steps isn’t a firm confirmation of coupledom, we’re not sure what is, exactly. </p>

<p>Spring may have just started, but temperatures are already rising, thanks to <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/tag/sabrina-carpenter/">Sabrina Carpenter</a>. The pop icon is the latest celeb to model Kim Kardashian&apos;s Skims brand, following the footsteps of Lana del Rey, Alex Cooper, and Kim Cattrall. “I feel very excited Skims chose me to be the face of this campaign as I’ve always been a fan of the brand,” she said of the collaboration.</p><p>In this &apos;90s-inspired shoot, Carpenter is seen lounging around and talking on the phone in various sexy lingerie sets. She definitely turned heads in this hot pink look, including that of her <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/sabrina-carpenter-barry-keoghan/">new boyfriend, Barry Keoghan</a>. The actor quickly commented on her post and expressed his approval. He left a flame and parched emoji before writing, "barbie emoji."</p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:856px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:140.65%;"><img id="Svpz9ZdL88P89eWndaBE3k" name="" alt="Sabrina Carpenter Skims" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Svpz9ZdL88P89eWndaBE3k.png" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="856" height="1204" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Sabrina Carpenter is the face of the spring collection for Skims. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Skims)</span></figcaption></figure><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:936px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:128.85%;"><img id="QvPbwwmYUiybURRjKH9ZPG" name="" alt="Sabrina Carpenter Skims" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/QvPbwwmYUiybURRjKH9ZPG.png" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="936" height="1206" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Sabrina Carpenter channels '90s glam in this sultry photoshoot. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Skims)</span></figcaption></figure><p>However, some fans were less impressed with this collaboration and made that clear in the comment section as well. Many referred to <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/taylor-swift-kanye-west-kim-kardashian/">Taylor Swift&apos;s previous feud with Kim Kardashian</a> and questioned how she would feel about this. <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/taylor-swift-sabrina-carpenter/">Carpenter has been Swift&apos;s opening act</a> for the past few months on the Eras Tour, and the pair have often posed together at award shows.</p><p>Swift and Kardashian have seemingly settled their differences since the 2016 drama surrounding them and Kardashian&apos;s husband at the time, Kanye West. But fans aren&apos;t as quick to forget, and many called out Carpenter for working with Kardashian.</p><p>"Touring with Taylor but supporting Kim?" one user wrote.</p><p>“How she gonna open for Taylor swift then work with Kim Kardashian?" another asked.</p><p>“DOES TAYLOR KNOW” an X user wrote.</p><p>But others defended Carpenter&apos;s decision, highlighting that she is a "free woman" and "everything is business." They supposedly met at Givenchy’s spring/summer 2024 show during Paris Fashion Week on September 28. They weren&apos;t photographed together at this event, but <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12820567/Sabrina-Carpenter-steps-dinner-date-Barry-Keoghan-rumored-boyfriend-Shawn-Mendes-denied-together.html">sources say</a> they first spoke while there.</p><p>In December, the pair were <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12820567/Sabrina-Carpenter-steps-dinner-date-Barry-Keoghan-rumored-boyfriend-Shawn-Mendes-denied-together.html">spotted having a romantic dinner</a> in Brentwood, California. Rumors spiraled from there, but neither star confirmed or denied the relationship.</p><p>They were spotted on another date in January, this time at Luna Luna, an interactive art museum in Los Angeles. “It definitely seemed like a date,” an eyewitness told <a href="https://people.com/barry-keoghan-sabrina-carpenter-look-cute-together-date-night-exclusive-source-8426199" target="_blank"><em>People</em></a>, adding they were “cute” together and “shared a little kiss.”</p><p>Just in time for Valentine&apos;s Day, <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/barry-keoghan-sabrina-carpenter-oscars/">the pair went public</a> at <em>W</em> magazine’s Grammys after party. They walked the red carpet separately but were spotted cozying up inside the event. They also had their photo taken together for the first time.</p><p>Keoghan then made the leap )and flight) to <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/barry-keoghan-sabrina-carpenter-singapore-eras-tour/">support his new girlfriend on the Eras Tour</a>. He was spotted watching the show in Singapore from a closed-off section. Footage shared on social media showed Carpenter running into his arms after the concert ended.</p><p>But it&apos;s not official until there&apos;s a friendship bracelet involved, as Swift and Travis Kelce demonstrated. "That’s the way I’m living my life. So that’s my sex tip. Be smart. Use protection."</p><p>She also discussed how she might be perceived as overtly sexual, thanks to her touring outfits, the famous "Feather" music video, and now this Skims campaign, but she actually is more prudish than people would expect. "But, in a real way, my advice is: Do whatever feels most comfortable to you," she said. "You can be curious and ask questions, but a lot of it is just going to be you learning yourself. So do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable and safe. <p>Well, it seems we can finally put the rumors about <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/tag/barry-keoghan/">Barry Keoghan</a> and <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/tag/sabrina-carpenter/">Sabrina Carpenter</a> to rest... because they&apos;ve all but confirmed it!</p><p>The young couple were spotted on a date night in West Hollywood, where they went to have a romantic dinner at Delilah.</p><p>The 31-year-old <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/beauty/rosamund-pike-golden-globes-2023/"><em>Saltburn</em></a> actor and 24-year-old singer couldn&apos;t stop grinning as they left dinner and headed to Ysabel Lounge to continue their presumed date night.</p><p>Carpenter looked as gorgeous as always in a sleeveless black mini dress and matching knee-high boots. It&apos;s fun to see that her stage style matches her street style, as she often performs in mini dresses and high boots as well. She finished the look with a black handbag and a black leather jacket.</p><p>Keoghan kept it casual in a red jacket, white t-shirt, olive green trousers, and white sneakers.</p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:1968px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:177.85%;"><img id="xGJ2LJZ2NYUqr8rG7zjZU8" name="Backgrid.jpg" alt="Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xGJ2LJZ2NYUqr8rG7zjZU8.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="1968" height="3500" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Keoghan and Carpenter's smiles say it all </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Backgrid)</span></figcaption></figure><p>The couple had been spotted together a few times before, but this is the first time they could be clearly seen on a date together.</p><p>Keoghan and his long-term girlfriend Alyson Kierans split 15 months after welcoming their first child together, Brando. It&apos;s believed that her relationship with Bassett inspired <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/tag/olivia-rodrigo/">Olivia Rodrigo</a>&apos;s breakout hit "Driver&apos;s License," and the drama surrounding this led Carpenter to write "because I liked a boy."</p><p>I&apos;m curious whether we can expect any songs about Keoghan on her next album, as it&apos;s been confirmed that this is on the way!</p><p>In a conversation with <em>Stranger Things</em> star Maya Hawke for <a href="https://www.interviewmagazine.com/music/sabrina-carpenter-and-maya-hawke-on-rethinking-the-pop-star-playbook"><em>Interview Magazine</em></a>, Carpenter admitted that she is working on her sixth studio album.
