Sarah Ferguson's relationship with the Royal Family has changed a lot over the years. At the end of 2025, the former Duchess of York was stripped of her official royal titles following new allegations regarding her ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Since then, Ferguson has stayed out of the spotlight, but a new report revisits one of the former royal's parenting decisions.

In 1996, Ferguson spoke to CTV about parenting her daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, and the things she was hoping to teach them.

"I've been on this huge road of learning with mistakes and how to do things," Ferguson explained (via Hello! magazine). The ex-duchess shared that she particularly wanted to teach Beatrice and Eugenie to "show emotion" and "be themselves."

During the interview, Ferguson recalled buying Princess Eugenie a new pair of shoes and later discovering that her daughter "didn't like them." Eugenie also reportedly told her mom that the shoes were "too small."

"I immediately stopped what I was doing, sat her down and said, 'I just want you to understand, I don't want you to go through the same mistakes mommy's made at 37,'" Ferguson shared on CTV. "'I want you to learn now at 6 [years old].'"

Basically, the ex-Duchess of York seemingly wanted her kids to experience the mistakes she'd made much earlier than she did, and to learn from where she'd gone wrong.

Queen Camilla has been married to King Charles since April 9, 2005, so she's likely well acquainted with her husband's habits. In a new documentary, The Queen has revealed the one thing she seemingly dislikes about King Charles.

In the BBC's The Book That Changed My Life, Queen Camilla opened up about her favorite books, as well as the one thing that really distracts her while she's reading.

Noting that she often reads before dinner each night, Camilla shared in the new documentary (via the Daily Mail), "It's the best tonic in the world."

The Queen continued, "Occasionally, when I'm deep in a book, I hear him roaring with laughter about something. It's very off-putting. I can't get back into my book—or I'll suddenly start weeping."

In spite of their differing reading styles, it's clear that both Queen Camilla and King Charles share a love of books.

Queen Camilla used the documentary to really drive home the importance of reading.

"If there's no reading, I don't think we'd even be human any longer," The Queen shared.

And for Camilla, books were incredibly formative, which she got candid about in the documentary.

"We left school quite young because in my day women didn't go to universities," she explained. "So I think reading has been most of my education. You learn much about people, about life. It's so important to get children reading early."

Camilla also recalled one of the more risqué books she first read as a young woman.

"As teenagers, you read a lot of romances," The Queen said. "It was the moment of Lady Chatterley under our pillows—reading that by torchlight. You know, the minute something's forbidden, you want to get hold of it!"

Prince William supports a plethora of charitable causes in his role as a senior member of the Royal Family. But according to a royal expert, the Prince of Wales's decision to be outspoken on one particular topic might be especially important right now.

Writing for the Express, royal expert Emily Ferguson discussed Prince William's ability to talk about mental health issues with the general public.

Ferguson explained, "The Prince of Wales is using his position to empower people, to reach people and say it's okay to feel down and signpost them to support."

The expert continued, "He's able to break through the taboo and all of the negativity surrounding mental health and suicide, making people listen in a way that they've never really listened before."

Ferguson also noted that "opening up about mental health problems has a domino effect, encouraging others to share their own experiences." As such, Prince William's impact cannot be diminished.

"All it takes is for one person to speak out, as once the first domino has fallen, other people are more likely to follow suit—and that's how stigma is dismantled," the royal expert noted.

To highlight World Mental Health Day on October 10, Prince William told the Express, "We do not always know what someone is carrying beneath the surface."

The Prince of Wales continued, "Taking the time to check in, to listen, and to show kindness can make more of a difference than we often realize."

Prince Philip was known for his famously deadpan—and sometimes inappropriate—remarks over the years, and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree when it comes to his no-nonsense daughter, Princess Anne. Although the off-color comments her father made aren't the Princess Royal's style, she's famous for her directness, as former royal chef Darren McGrady recently shared on Instagram.

McGrady worked as a chef at Buckingham Palace before serving Princess Diana at Kensington Palace, and he weighed in on a claim that Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, made in his new book, Swan Song. Earl Spencer wrote that he was seated next to Princess Anne at a pre-wedding dinner for Diana and Prince Charles in 1981, and when he asked her how her daughter Zara's christening had gone, Anne made him "feel small."

According to Spencer, the Princess Royal "stopped, looked at me witheringly, and asked, 'Tell me, how's a christening supposed to go?'" He continued, "And I, being 17 and clueless about dinner party small talk, turned red and looked at my plate, unable to conjure up a reply."

Spencer noted that other family members had an easier time at the dinner, writing, "It was the luck of the draw that night, whether you were placed next to a royal who was happy to make you feel small, or one who had the grace and manners to look for common ground, wherever it might be found."

Sharing an image of a story in the Daily Mail about the incident, McGrady wrote, "Oh this just tickles me. Typical no nonsense Princess Royal (love her) Her father’s daughter."

He added that Earl Spencer's story made him think of the time he saw Princess Anne deliver a similar remark to someone when he was working for the palace.

"Reminds me of when I flew back from Balmoral with her on the Queen’s flight," McGrady wrote. "As we disembarked an official asked her 'how was your flight?' She replied 'have you ever flown before? It was like that!'"

Prince William and Princess Kate probably aren’t planning their Christmas decor just yet, if their visit to a Northern Ireland IKEA is any indication. The Prince and Princess of Wales spent the day in Belfast on October 9 to highlight the work being done to combat youth homelessness in the area, and while visiting IKEA to see a job program in action, they came across a Christmas display.

In a video shared by Hello! magazine on Instagram, the Prince of Wales looks at his watch and exclaims, “October the ninth for a Christmas tree?” after walking past a decorated tree in the store.

A laughing Prince William told employees, “That is getting it in early!” adding, "What!" after one of the store's workers shared an inaudible tidbit with him in the clip.

Although William didn’t elaborate about his own decorating plans, Princess Kate once shared the type of Christmas tree they typically buy while visiting a farm in 2019. “She said that they normally have the Nordmann Fir inside that doesn’t drop the needles,” tree farm owner Roger Brill said at the time, per People.

During their outing at IKEA, the Prince and Princess of Wales met with a young woman who got her job through an initiative created by William’s Homewards organization. Homewards was launched in 2023 by the Royal Foundation and is a five-year program to help make homelessness rare, brief and unrepeated, with its jobs initiative being piloted in Northern Ireland.

After meeting with business leaders to talk about expanding the career program, William and Kate got some hands-on training themselves working at cash registers in the store. Prince William and Princess Kate visited Northern Ireland on Friday, October 9, to highlight the work being done to prevent homelessness, and one of their stops included a Belfast IKEA where shoppers were shocked to be waited on by none other than the future King and Queen.

Prince William’s Homewards program is working with local charities and businesses to recruit young people at risk of homelessness, and along with speaking with an employee who is working at the store through the program, the Waleses got down to work themselves.

Wearing a ruffled blouse and a new green tartan skirt, Kate is pictured working behind a cash register in a video shared by Kate Mansey of the Times on Instagram. Prince William also got in on the action, chatting with shoppers as they checked out of the busy store.

An employee shows Princess Kate how to run a credit card in Mansey's video as a woman and two children checked out, and the royal handed one girl the receipt, saying, “don’t forget these,” pointing at a bag of sweets they’d purchased. “Enjoy your dance lesson!” the princess said with a wave.

While speaking with the young woman employed through the Homewards initiative, Their Royal Highnesses learned how her job and the relationships she's built working at IKEA have helped her build confidence, stability and independence. They also met with other U.K. business leaders while visiting the store to discuss Homewards' plans to expand the Northern Ireland job program pilot.

Although you might not expect royals to shop at IKEA, William and Kate once shared a surprisingly relatable detail about their former home at Kensington Palace. In 2018, they told IKEA's head of design, Marcus Engman, that they used furniture from the brand in Prince George and Princess Charlotte's bedrooms.

James Middleton is famous for his love of dogs and is responsible for introducing Prince William and Princess Kate to their own furry friends. On Friday, October 9, the Princess of Wales's brother announced that his beloved 15-year-old cocker spaniel, Zulu, has died.

"My darling Zulu has passed away 🖤," Middleton captioned a series of photos of Zulu on Instagram, including a sweet black-and-white portrait of himself holding the dog.

"I’ve written a lot about losing dogs. About the grief, the emptiness, how difficult it is to say goodbye," he wrote. Middleton credits his late dog Ella with saving his life during a period of deep depression, and he shared that Zulu, who was Ella's son, is now buried next to his mother. Prince William and Princess Kate's late dog, Lupo, was Zulu's brother, and James wrote that he hoped the dogs were now reunited.

"I have laid Zulu to rest beside his mother, Ella. I like to think that he’s already found her, his brother Lupo, Tilly, Mini and the other animals who have shared my life," he added. "That they’re all together again and he’s busy telling his mum everything she’s missed. All the adventures, all the changes in our lives and, most importantly, just how wonderful little Inigo is…"

As for Sophie's nephew, Prince William, Harrold said she'll continue to be a strong support for him and his wife, Princess Kate. “I have no doubt she will become one of the future King’s closest allies," he said, adding that Sophie "will be a matriarch for the Royal Family, and a vital asset to future King William.”

Howell) through the eyes of a 20-something enduring the trial by fire that is being a teacher.

The 29-year-old Prey star immediately connected with the role. “I personally have a friend of mine who is a former professional athlete turned high school gym teacher, so it was very close to home,” Midthunder tells Marie Claire. “And my grandma's a school teacher. It was really special to be able to bring this element of life to light, because teachers are a very deeply underappreciated, underserved, understaffed, underpaid group of people. The best teachers are the ones who are selfless and kind and invest so much of their heart into that.”

To expand Carrie into an eight-episode series, creator Flanagan (known for horror hits like The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass) combined his skill at crafting well-rounded characters with an exploration of the many nightmares that make up modern education. Metal detectors, active-shooter drills, and mean-girl antics archived by iPhone cameras are among them—and that’s just in the first two episodes. As the semester goes on, Ms. D is drawn into a townwide cyberbullying scandal that impacts her secret romance with fellow teacher Seth Peist (Rahul Kohli).

Midthunder signed on to Carrie as a big fan of both King and Flanagan—she counts the “underloved” Revival among her favorite King books. But as the show premieres, the actress is especially proud to be part of a project that's not just about young people today, but took the time to listen to them. She points out that the writers’ room even met with real high-school students to get their “perspective [on] the dangers and threats that they face in the world around them.”

“I think it's very rare that you meet somebody who has the humility to say, 'There are people who understand X, Y, Z better than I do. Why don't we listen to them?'” she says. “As actors, really our job is just what happens between action and cut. But if we can give kids something to feel seen by, or feel like they have a voice, then we've hopefully done our jobs well.”

Below, Midthunder chats with Marie Claire about going through horror exposure therapy, the period in-between childhood and adulthood, and her character’s tragic ending.

Marie Claire: Were you a big horror fan or Stephen King fan growing up?

Amber Midthunder: I am notoriously afraid amongst this cast. I really struggle with horror, so it has been quite an exposure therapy experience hanging out with this crowd. That said, I am a King fan. What I love about horror is the ability to transcend the genre. You can really explore a lot of interesting concepts and social commentaries, and that is what Mike [Flanagan] and King in particular are really great at. I think what we do with Carrie very much falls into that category.

MC: What early conversations did you have with Mike about how he wanted to approach Ms. Desjardin?

AM: [Carrie] actually came to me in a crazy way. I was meant to be filming something else, and that project, as they often do, pushed a year. It was a 48-hour time period from when that movie pushed to when I was signed onto the show. I was able to read all eight episodes before even meeting with Mike, which is wildly unheard of.

Mike had a really beautiful and brilliant take on this. I think if you come to Carrie as a fan—whether you've read the book or you love the De Palma film—or if our show is your first introduction to Carrie, there is something to love. Mike has expanded the story over eight episodes, so you live in such a deep complexity with these characters that you think you're familiar with, and you learn them in a much more human and complicated way. You have the big set pieces, you have prom, and you have the locker room scene and all these things, but then you also are delivered something very new, and that is quite emotional and grounded.

MC: How would you describe the complicated sympathy that Ms. D has towards Carrie?

AM: I've noticed people have really held onto [the scene in episode 2], where she says, 'Not long ago, I would've been one of those girls in that locker room tormenting Carrie White.’ It's a very important moment of being able to be self-aware and hold yourself accountable to doing better. I think that she's able to make that reflection because she's no longer that person. She looks at Carrie and sees that this is a young, vulnerable, hopeful person who is in danger from the world around them. It's a sad instinct to look at somebody like Carrie and go, Oh, we must change her, instead of examining what is wrong with us and the world around us that we can’t adapt to the qualities that she has. Ms. D's instinct to say, Oh, I want to make her tougher, is out of protection.

Ms. D’s also the youngest of the staff, so she's the most contemporary to the students of any of the faculty. She's able to see everybody from a firsthand outsider perspective, almost. There's no hiding from Ms. D, so she can see who Chris is and that she struggles. She can look at Sue and see that Sue knows better, and she looks at Carrie and understands her vulnerability. Ms. D really wants to level with these girls and be able to be a resource, safe place, or helping hand for them. But what do you do when you either are shut out by the kids themselves, or held back by the rules of the institution that you belong to as a teacher? You can only interfere so much.

MC: Did you reflect on your own high school days as you were working on this project about what high school is like now?

AM: That's also a part of [Ms. D’s] journey. If you have any young people in your world that you care for, you understand how quickly social media and the internet is moving. As an adult, you want to feel like you're a safe place, and it's really difficult to keep up with being that pillar when you also are playing catch up with the world. I was homeschooled for much of high school, but I like that element of Ms. D because I think she is in the middle. Even with the cast, [between] the adults and the kids, it was often like, Where do I go? I think everybody has that time in life.

This is a story of a group of people who are, for the most part, doing their best. Each character that makes their choices—whether you agree with them or not—you understand exactly why they make those choices. You get to watch the complexity of those decisions.

MC: Ms. D is one of the prom-night casualties who dies in this show. What were your thoughts on this tragic ending for the character?

AM: I'm proud that Ms. D is one of the few characters who stays consistently good for Carrie. I think she always holds her stance of, I want to be there for this girl, and I want to protect this girl. It's sad that she ultimately fails, and it really speaks to the moment that Carrie is in. Were she in her right mind and fully in control of her powers, I don't think that that would be the choice that she makes. I thought it was a really beautiful and heartbreaking end to Ms. D’s journey. She's new to this town and this job, with a lot of high hopes and ambition, and you watch that be taken away from her with what happens with Rahul's character. She builds herself back up into this place of [rediscovering] her worth and hope, and then it gets taken away from her.

While they were writing the show, Mike invited a group of high schoolers into the writers’ room to talk with them about what they view are the dangers and threats that they face in the world around them. One of those things was adults like Rahul's character. Mike is not afraid of having an honest conversation about our world, and that's where that storyline came from. So yeah, Ms. D's story is tragic in many ways, and I think it's quite important that we acknowledge that.

Princess Diana never got to meet Prince William or Prince Harry's wives, but according to Majesty magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward, the current Princess of Wales has one major advantage to help her in royal career.

Speaking to Hello! magazine for a live episode of its “A Right Royal Podcast,” Seward said that the difference between the two royal women comes down to support.

“It's one of the tragedies of Diana's story that she was adored by millions, yet emotionally denied by the few who mattered most,” the Catherine and Diana author said. “And that is where the contrast with Catherine is most striking.”

The Princess of Wales, who announced she was in remission from cancer in January 2025, has experienced her own struggles, but at the end of the day, her family is beside her.

“Her life is not perfect, but it is rooted in a shared understanding with William, her husband, Diana's son,” Seward said. “They face the institution together. Diana faced it alone.”

Reflecting on Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, along with her sister, Pippa, and brother, James, Seward said that the princess has “something that Diana didn't have: an incredibly close-knit family, and a very ambitious mother.”

Seward pointed out that the Princess of Wales likely looks to her late mother-in-law’s mistakes when considering her approach to royal life.

“Catherine took lessons from Diana,” the royal commentator said. “She saw that Diana gave so much of herself to people, but it exposed her too much. Catherine learned from that: just give enough, but don't give too much, because you're too vulnerable that way, and people are going to strip you bare if you do that."

Have we seen the last of Carrie White?

Prime Video has unleashed its new TV adaptation of Carrie, with an October premiere perfectly timed for spooky season. While series creator Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) maintains many of the elements that made Stephen King’s 1974 novel and Brian De Palma’s famed 1976 film version unforgettable—the telekinetic teen, her fanatical mother, cruel classmates, and the prom-night massacre—he also made some significant changes, among them changing the setting to the present day. Those updates also include a big twist that leaves the door open to continuing Carrie into another season.

Flanagan has said he wants the series to continue. But if it does, where does Carrie’s story go from here? Read on for everything we know so far.

Everything to Know About 'Carrie' Season 2 So Far

Has 'Carrie' been renewed for season 2?

Carrie hasn't been renewed for season 2. But that doesn’t mean Flanagan hasn’t already thought about where things could go. In fact, he’s said he’s envisioned the story as a trilogy.

“In my dream scenario, I think it’s three seasons,” he told Collider. “In my dream scenario, I think Carrie has a wonderful three-step arc. It’s a trilogy, really.”

The potential for any Carrie continuation comes down to Flanagan’s new spin on the story. In King’s novel, after unleashing her telekinetic powers at prom, Carrie dies after being stabbed by her mother (but not before she uses her abilities to stop her mother’s heart). In the 1976 movie, after killing her mother, Carrie makes their entire house collapse around them before she perishes.

In Flanagan’s adaptation, Carrie (Summer H. Howell) still gets pig's blood dumped on her at prom, exacts vengeance on her classmates—though this, too, unfolds differently on screen—and is attacked by her mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). But crucially, Carrie survives that fateful night. The season ends with her escaping the now-decimated town of Chamberlain, Maine, with new friend Emaline (Thalia Dudek), another young woman with supernatural abilities—in her case, astral projection.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Flanagan emphasized that he wanted this eight-episode arc to be satisfying on its own, regardless of any renewal. But he’s ready to keep it going should he get the chance.

“Having done so many limited series, I want to make sure that when it ends, it’s perfectly satisfying no matter what happens, whether you’re moving on or not,” he explained. “But, yeah, part of the fun of this was diving into that expansive world that could potentially continue.”

What would 'Carrie' season 2 be about?

It’s a great question, since season 1 follows King’s original novel. From here, we’re just like Carrie and Emaline in that car: heading into uncharted territory.

There are clues we can look to, though. Throughout the series, Flanagan took care to contextualize Carrie’s story within a wider world of women with supernatural abilities. There are others out there just like her—even her own mother, who manifested powers as a child and uses them again to survive the house collapse. (Apparently, telekinesis is genetic.)

This also ties into the three mysterious women spotted in the gym on prom night. They seem to be part of the same mysterious group led by Adelaide (Kate Siegel). Initially, it seems like she’s either a documentarian or detective, interviewing Chamberlain survivors about what happened on prom night. Twist: she’s neither. She has powers of her own and uses them to make classmate Sue Snell (Siena Agudong) forget what she saw in the gym before stopping Margaret’s heart with her voice.

This group might also include Emaline—at the very least, Adelaide is definitely aware of who she is. So it’s probably not a stretch to consider that a Carrie season 2 could follow this group of women who seek out and protect others like them.

What book will 'Carrie' season 2 be based on?

Again, the events of the novel Carrie have already been covered in season 1. So it’s fair to say anything that comes next won’t come from that source material—but the thing about Stephen King is, he’s written a lot of books. In fact, during Adelaide’s interview with Margaret, she mentions people who have “the shine,” a term for psychic and supernatural abilities that's referenced across King’s oeuvre.

So, could other King stories or characters find their way into Carrie? That’s between Flanagan, the author, and Prime Video, but it doesn’t seem impossible.

“I think any kind of true Stephen King fan knows how all of these worlds are connected, whether you can see the path of the beam or not, you know?” he told EW. “It’s been really fun to imagine Carrie’s place within the potential larger universe.”

Who in the 'Carrie' cast will be back for season 2?

If Carrie continues, you’d need the titular character to return. In addition to Summer H. Howell as Carrie White, we’d presumably get more time with Emaline (Thalia Dudek), Adelaide (Kate Siegel), and the other women in her mysterious organization (played by actresses including Ruth Todd and Delainey Hayles). Sue Snell (Siena Agudong), the surviving classmate who felt guilty about how cruelly Carrie was treated, could also factor into the plot—though after her interview with Adelaide, it’s unclear if or how she might recover her memories of that night.

When would 'Carrie' season 2 come out?

Unless you have psychic powers, it’s not yet known whether Carrie will be renewed for season 2 or when season 2 could be released. (And if you do have psychic powers, Adelaide might be looking for you.)

Keep in mind that if a renewal is announced, scripts would need to be written and those episodes would then need to be filmed. So it might take some time before Carrie returns—if it returns. But Flanagan has made it possible for Carrie White to find out what comes next.

For her first post-Paris Fashion Week appearance, Kendall Jenner turned dinner with Hailey Bieber into a mini runway show, starring Fashion Month's leading Spring/Summer 2027 trend: the pencil skirt. On October 6, the supermodel styled the office-appropriate piece in a way that would earn endorsements from both Miuccia Prada and an HR manager with a strict dress code.

Stylist Dani Michelle started dressing Daisy Edgar-Jones in Chloé for the Sense and Sensibility press tour back in June 2026. Turns out, the Chemena Kamali-era creations—including a boho babydoll dress and a lingerie-style set—were setting the scene for the grand finale. After world tour stops in England and Australia, on October 7, Edgar-Jones landed stateside for the L.A. film premiere. To mark the occasion, she appeared in a 27-year-old corseted Chloé set, courtesy of the celebrity-beloved boutique Raffe Vintage.

Co-founders Mara Goodman Aflalo and Nikki Alexa Reynen found the closing look from the Chloé Spring/Summer 1999 collection in August. After Raffe Vintage shared the news on Instagram, Michelle's team asked to use the two-piece for the film's press tour. Loaning it to a London-based star promoting a Jane Austen adaptation felt like kismet: Reynen and Aflalo sourced the "perfect condition" corset-and-skirt co-ord on a recent trip to London.

Featuring an ivory lace-up corset and a lavender, glossy-meets-matte maxi skirt, the look was designed by Chloé's former creative director Stella McCartney. While most of the label's catalog is available for purchase, this rare find was sourced with the intention of becoming part of Raffe Vintage's Permanent Collection in New York City.

"We choose to keep some really special pieces in our archive for the sake of preservation," Aflalo says. "It's nice to get a moment like this on Daisy and have this piece be seen and live that part of its story, and then we get the opportunity to preserve it and make sure it stays in great condition over time."

While the exchange began in the late summer, it wasn't until Tuesday, 24 hours before Edgar-Jones's return to the red carpet, that "[the team] confirmed it would be for the L.A. premiere," Aflalo says.

As the actor walked in the cape-style-sleeve look, the "group chat was elated," she adds. "It was such a surreal experience. She looks stunning, and I can't imagine someone who could have done it more justice."

While the subtly printed corset, sheer sleeves, and skirt weren't method dressing per se, Aflalo notes a possible connection. "This collection was pivotal for Chloé and for Stella and her career," she says. According to Aflalo, for the line, McCartney pulled inspiration from embroidery, corsetry, and "the jacquard movement" of early 19th-century England, during which Sense and Sensibility takes place. The reason it is notable: "Stella took a lot of British influences in this collection, [at] a house that was, historically [and] classically French."

On Instagram, Michelle revealed this exact Chloé design was also at "the center" of Edgar-Jones's mood board for this press tour. "When creating customs and imagining our world, Daisy always said she wanted to wear lavender to honor Elinor’s costumes, and having our final red carpet in this moment was everything," she said.

According to Aflalo, that link is exactly why the corseted look complemented Edgar-Jones's method-adjacent approach so seamlessly. "She's doing vintage in a really thoughtful way where it's reading modern, but it's also reading of the time," she says. "Getting to be a part of that process is monumental."

Zara Tindall has followed in mom Princess Anne’s equestrian footsteps, and now there’s a new member of the family on the competition scene. Zara’s 12-year-old daughter, Mia Tindall, took part in the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials for the first time in September, and Zara shared one story about riding with her daughter on the “Talk Horse” podcast.

"I took Mia for a jump the other day. Mia and her two cousins,” Zara shared in part of the episode, released October 7. “And then I said, 'To me' or something, she just rolled her eyes and went 'Urgh.’ I was like, 'I literally said the same thing to the other guys. They didn't roll their eyes at me.’”

Zara, who won silver in the 2012 Olympics, admitted that she was the same at Mia’s age. "I think I was probably like that with my mother and father too, I'm sure they'll tell you that," she added.

Princess Anne’s first husband, Captain Mark Phillips, who is Zara’s dad, is an Olympic gold medal-winning horseman, and Zara shared that he’s always been “tough” on her.

"Barely you would get a 'Yeah that was good' out of him, he was a tough coach,” she said, adding, “I try not to be quite that bad with my own kids."

Zara reflected on growing up with parents who were involved in the equestrian world, explaining that she had to be very hands-on.

“My mum and dad's head girl at the time was like a Rottweiler,” Zara said. “We had to do everything with them. We had to clean our tack, muck them out. And if we didn't do it, we were in serious trouble." "She was amazing though,” Zara added. “Put us in our place to learn about the discipline of having horses."

Zara explained that there was "a family love for horses" and it wasn't an interest that was "forced" on her since both of her parents were Olympians. "I don't remember my parents going, 'Come on let's go and do this,' and us not wanting to go," she said.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left their Windsor home in 2020 for a new life in North America, and in a new MasterClass on grief, the Duke of Sussex revealed that he crashed emotionally once they moved.

The Sussexes relocated to Vancouver Island, Canada before buying their home in Montecito, California, and Prince Harry noted that he didn’t realize how much he was relying on “stress” to power through until he stepped down from his royal role.

“We moved to Canada to get some space away from everything, just to be able to think,” he said, per People. “Being in Canada, away from the stressful environment where presumably my body was just pumped full of adrenaline, within two or three days, I experienced this adrenaline crash—something that I’d never experienced before.”

The Duke of Sussex said that being away from the pressures of royal life felt like a shock to the system. “It was as if I needed stress in order to get the adrenaline to make my brain function because I became useless around the house,” he admitted. “I actually slipped into depression for about two weeks and I felt like I couldn’t function without adrenaline.”

Through therapy, Prince Harry has been able to address his unresolved feelings of grief from losing his mother, Princess Diana, when he was just 12. Part of this involved figuring out why he leaned on adrenaline to get through life, and he admitted that joining the military was "the perfect distraction."

“And for 15, 20 years, when I was being asked, ‘Are you okay?’ My response was, ‘I’m fine.’ It was numbness, emotional shutdown,” he said. “And without knowing it, adrenaline was pushing me, was driving me. It was the driving force of what took me to joining the military at the age of 20."

While he's been able to come to terms with many of his feelings, the Duke of Sussex said that from time to time, he feels the same driving force. “There are some public engagements that still involve adrenaline,” he shared. “I’m not gonna lie there.”

Prince Harry is taking part in a new MasterClass conversation about grief, and in the video, the Duke of Sussex reveals that he pushed down his feelings so much that he actually forgot certain things about his mother, Princess Diana. Through therapy, he found himself able to reconnect with his memories, and that involved one unexpected tactic.

The Duke of Sussex joins Dr. Mary-Frances O’Connor, neuroscientist and professor of psychology at the University of Arizona, in the MasterClass titled "Redefining Grief: Building Resilience Through Loss." Per People, Harry revealed that he “shut down” and didn’t even cry when he found out his mother had died in August 1997.

“The defense mechanism for the mind and the body was to shut down the emotions and shut down the memories,” he said. “Not just the bad memories, the good memories as well. I forgot what my mom sounded like. I forgot her laugh. I couldn’t really visualize what she looked like without looking at a photograph of her.”

One way he was able to reconnect with his mother was through scent. When his therapist told him to spray Princess Diana’s favorite perfume, Prince Harry found himself “unlocking” the feelings he’d been pushing down.

Harry shared “it was like being transported to another time” when he sprayed the scent. He added “it unlocked everything that had been locked previously" and felt "almost like knocking certain bricks through so that I could see through and certain memories and experiences could start seeping through.”

As for the perfume in question, the Duke of Sussex wrote about bringing a bottle of First, his mother's favorite perfume by Van Cleef & Arpels, to a therapy session in his memoir, Spare.

In Prince Harry's MasterClass, launched ahead of World Mental Health Day on Saturday, he also admitted that he suppressed his grief so much that he found it difficult to cry about his mother.

"I didn’t cry when I was told my mom died, only at her burial, and then not again for nearly two decades,” he said. “I was convinced that was strength, but it wasn’t. I was a 12-year-old boy with no permission to fall apart and no roadmap for how to heal.”

Members of the Royal Family don’t wear tiaras as much as they did during the earlier years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign, typically reserving them for major state occasions like the opening of Parliament or formal banquets for visiting world leaders. While you won’t see Princess Kate wearing a diamond headpiece at a film premiere or black tie event, in 1973, it was commonplace for the royals to break out a tiara, like Queen Elizabeth did for the Fanfare for Europe Gala.

The glittering event was held at the Royal Opera House in London, and while traveling to the gala from Windsor Castle, Queen Elizabeth experienced a tiara mishap.

According to the Royal Watcher blog, the late Queen, who was wearing an ivory gown with a matching fur stole, was reportedly wearing the Vladimir Tiara, but it broke en route to the Royal Opera House. Since they didn’t have time to detour to Buckingham Palace to get a replacement tiara, an alternate solution was required.

Fortunately, Queen Elizabeth’s equerry and friend Lord Plunket lived near the opera house, located in London’s Covent Garden neighborhood, and he offered to loan her his family’s diamond tiara for the night. Lord Plunket “took it out of the safe in time for the Queen’s car to arrive,” per the Royal Watcher, and she had just enough time to arrange it on her head before they got to the opera house.

“It was indeed their family’s tiara,” Mrs. Shaun Plunket, sister-in-law of Lord Plunket, wrote to Royal Jewels of the World. “The queen’s tiara had somehow broken that night en route to the event; Lord Plunket (Shaun’s older brother) lived around the corner and dashed home to retrieve his own tiara for her to wear. Voilà.”

The gala marked the only time Queen Elizabeth wore a tiara that wasn’t part of the Royal Family’s collection, and Lord Plunket wasn’t forgotten for saving the day. Per the Royal Watcher, the late Queen made Lord Plunket a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order the following year, but sadly, he died of cancer in 1975.

Princess Diana is buried at her family’s ancestral home, Althorp, and when it came to selecting a gravesite, privacy and protection came first. Her brother, Charles Spencer, decided to bury Diana on an island in the middle of the property’s Oval Lake that’s inaccessible to the public, and he tells Marie Claire about the “incredibly peaceful” spot.

Earl Spencer, whose book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, was released on September 22, says that he visits Diana “quite a lot.”

“I’ve got this cheap and cheerful little plastic boat that I'm quite a master of paddling over with one oar to the island,” he shares. “And I find it is very sad being over there, but it's also incredibly peaceful and beautiful.”

From the shore, the island where Princess Diana is buried appears to be completely overgrown with trees, but Spencer reveals there’s a secret feature of her gravesite.

“On the island, there's a small maze, you know, a grown up maze, and going through that is almost like shedding the real world and getting to this, I hope, really beautiful graveside spot, and communing with Diana,” he shares.

While a small bridge was set up to transport family members to the island for her 1997 burial, Spencer chose to leave Diana’s grave accessible only by boat for privacy reasons. In Swan Song, the earl writes about one time when he broke the bridge rule for Nelson Mandela, who was visiting Althorp and didn't feel physically able to climb into a boat.

As for when he rows across to Diana’s grave, Spencer says “it goes in phases.”

“You know, sometimes I find I need to go across, and obviously, I go across on her birthday and the anniversary and lay flowers, but sometimes I just go across anyway,” he says.

Speaking about Swan Song, Earl Spencer says that his eulogy at Diana’s funeral provided a through line to tell the story of his relationship with his sister. “What I wanted to do in a way, this book is a 350 page version of my eulogy at the funeral,” he says. “To tackle—first memoir, and it's half history— to pull that together, it needed a strand, and I found the eulogy did that because it covers both sides of my personal take and setting things down for history.”

At the end of the day, Spencer says he hopes his book serves as tribute to Diana's memory. “I've said this before, but it's—without wishing to sound emotional—when you lose a sibling, part of your childhood's gone forever,” he says.

Reflecting on his two older sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, he notes that because of the “British upper class lunacy of sending people off to boarding schools,” he didn’t grow up alongside them. “By the time I was a toddler, those two sisters were gone, you know?” he notes.

“Obviously, I'm in my sixties now, so it's no surprise that my parents and stepparents are gone,” he added. “But to lose the one person who shared your childhood as well, at quite an early age, does leave you slightly on your own.”

When I was around 5, my mother met a man from America who would become my father—Soo Lim Yee. They met at a dinner party while he was visiting Hong Kong on a business trip. He was smitten. They began a long-distance relationship, writing flowery love letters to each other. They would meet up for dinners whenever he flew to Hong Kong. After a couple of years of courtship, he helped sponsor our move to the United States.

One morning, when I was about 7, my mother woke Jun and me up early and said we were going out. That was it. No details on where we were headed. Next thing I know, we were getting onto an airplane. Never having been on a plane or visited the airport before, I thought, Ohh, this is fun! Soon after takeoff, my mother told me we were moving to America. “What? What’s America?” I asked her.

Once we were there, life opened up in surprising ways. When we first arrived, we stayed in Brooklyn with my stepfather’s friends. There were so many new sights and sounds that I was overwhelmed, but I adapted as quickly as I could. What helped to ease me into America’s way of life? Pizza. One of my favorite new foods was New York pizza. We’d never had cheese before, and, in fact, my mom still doesn’t like cheese, with the exception of having it on a slice of New York pizza. Go figure. What is it about the magic of a good New York slice? It’s a universal comfort food!

We stayed in Astoria for about three years before moving to Pittsburgh to be with my stepfather and join him in running his restaurant, the Chinatown Inn. At first, we lived above the restaurant, and then my parents bought a small house in Mount Lebanon where I enrolled at Jefferson Junior High School for sixth grade. I went from a big city where I had friends, an urban lifestyle, and the diversity of New York City to . . . well, white suburbia. I imported all my New York attitude and energy in my 4'11" body. Being one of, if not the only, Asian people at that school with a very Chinese name, I attracted some unfriendly sorts who made fun of me for how I looked or what my name sounded like. I was bullied. But I was a tough New Yorker, so I responded with a threat: “You want to settle this? I’ll meet you after school!” Those innocent, sheltered suburban kids would give me a confused look and ask, “What do you mean? Meet you where?” I’m sure I wasn’t very intimidating with my baby face and small self, but no one met me after school, either. (Perhaps that was my first inspiration for Mulan, Agent May, and all the other tough warrior women roles I would go on to portray in my acting career!) But we eventually settled into our life in Pittsburgh—my mother started to work in the restaurant, and the Chinatown Inn became a second home to me, as well as my part-time job. That place shaped my youth.

Even now, I can close my eyes and return to the bustle of that kitchen—the controlled chaos, the clatter of dishes, the constant hum of diners. The red-and-green pagoda entrance. The blinking neon sign. The clang of the cash register. The bustling bar. The pristine white tablecloths, which were always stained with a bit of soy sauce or stray grains of rice before they were swapped out for fresh ones. And always, at the end of the meal: a fortune cookie. The quintessential symbol of the Chinese American restaurant experience. American diners mostly ordered the classics: chow mein, fried rice, General Tso’s chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce, our massive (not skimpy!) egg rolls. And our famous wonton soup. We made the stock fresh every morning using high-quality chicken and neck bones, simmering everything into a rich, clear, amber broth. My dad always said: Good ingredients make good food. Good food keeps the customers coming back, which is why I believe the Chinatown Inn is the only remaining business from the original Chinatown in downtown Pittsburgh. Our success story and longevity started with the basics. I’ve found that to be true in life, too—what you put in is what you get out.

The first time that I became interested in acting was in an Easter play in the third grade while we were still in New York. I was one of the bunny rabbits. My English was still a work in progress, and being a bunny rabbit (I played “Stumpy”) meant I probably had the fewest lines. I remember coming on stage and tripping because I had big bunny feet, and people laughed. Instead of being embarrassed, I loved the reaction that I got, and I thought, I want to do this forever! The acting bug bit me.

Growing up in Pittsburgh, the theater was a safe haven for me—I got to be with people of like minds, who were just the funniest, most intelligent, creative, and passionate people. We had a great training program at Mount Lebanon High School, and to this day, it's still incredible.

During my senior year of high school, I applied to Carnegie Mellon University because it had a great drama program and was in Pittsburgh, which made things easier. I knew I would go to New York City for the theater scene after college, so I figured this was a way I could spend four more years near my parents before pursuing my dreams to make it on Broadway. I didn’t know I actually had to audition to be accepted into the drama program. I went into the audition thinking they just wanted to see where my skill levels were. I did my monologues. I did improv scenes. I was having a great time! I found out later that all my classmates were terribly nervous during the audition process. It wasn’t until I got an acceptance letter saying “Congratulations. We loved your audition. We've accepted you into the freshman program” that it hit me. I didn’t apply to any other colleges, so it was a good thing that I did well enough to be accepted!

Prince William and Prince Harry are understood not to have spoken since 2022, but with Harry and wife Meghan Markle now living in the U.K. again, royal insiders have been wondering whether the brothers will reconcile. On October 6, the Express reported that Harry and Meghan were planning to make amends with the Waleses, but a source now tells People that any idea of an apology is off the mark.

"Harry and Meghan have always known since they decided to return to the U.K. that they would need to eat humble pie," a source told the Express. The insider continued that the couple's "one big regret about leaving the Royal Family" involved their controversial Oprah Winfrey interview, especially the revelation about a senior royal commenting about what Prince Archie's skin color might look like.

"Harry was angry with his family at the time, and backed Meghan up, but they now realize what a low blow it was," the source claimed. "They both know they're hot-headed and realize they took things too far."

Prince Harry has publicly stated that he hopes to reconcile with his family, and the media outlet's report continued that Harry and Meghan "really want a sit-down so they can address what they said, and Meghan will apologize."

However, a source close to the Sussexes have reached out to People to say that the report was "nonsense."

Although the brothers remain estranged, Prince Harry and his family did visit with King Charles and Queen Camilla over the summer, and there's hope that the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana's death might bring him back in contact with William.

Per the Daily Mail, a memorial service for the late royal is being considered with both the Duke of Sussex and Prince of Wales in attendance. “While the boys seem to have rejected any chance of working together, the religious event might help heal the rift," said columnist Ephraim Hardcastle.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is awaiting a judicial review after he challenged the legality of the search warrants in his February arrest, but in the meantime, a report in the Times suggests the disgraced royal is living the good life on the Sandringham estate without Sarah Ferguson.

Ferguson and the former Duke of York lived together for nearly two decades at Royal Lodge before they were evicted by King Charles last year. The divorced couple also lost their Duke and Duchess of York titles in the aftermath of the scandals surrounding their friendship with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Andrew and Sarah often spoke about their close relationship, despite having been divorced since the early ‘90s, but these days, the pair are said to be no longer speaking. A source told the Times that interestingly, it was Andrew, not Ferguson, who had distanced themselves from the friendship.

“The red setter, as she’s known, is not welcome at Marsh Farm,” the insider said of the former duke's new Sandringham home. "She's persona non grata as far as Andrew is concerned.”

The Times added that it was “unclear” what Ferguson had done to cause Andrew to cut ties, but documents in the Epstein files “appear to show it was Ferguson who introduced him to Epstein.”

Despite his recent legal woes and banishment to The King’s Sandringham estate, a “well-placed source” told the Times that Andrew was doing just fine.

“Don’t believe all that poor Andy crap,” the source said. “He’s having a very nice time, thank you very much. He goes out, he goes off shooting with friends, he sees his old chums who are very loyal to him. He’s not sitting around feeling sorry for himself any more.”

It's understood that “plenty of friends from the old guard” join Andrew for shooting trips and other outings, with a source adding, “I don’t agree with this viewpoint but there’s a feeling among a lot of these chums that this is a storm in a teacup and it will blow over."

As for Andrew's judicial review, which will take place on October 8, friends told the Sun that the former duke is convinced he'll be able to clear his name. Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office in February, but if his review is successful, it will mean that any evidence police gathered at the time won't be able to be used in any investigations against him.

“He is utterly convinced that one day he will be completely exonerated,” an insider claimed. “He thinks this is the first step towards that.”

Now, I adore period-appropriate corsets as much as the next method dressing devotee. But for me, classic coats—and the way Daisy Edgar-Jones wears them with jeans—are the stars of her Sense and Sensibility style. Last month, the actor's McQueen military jacket persuaded me to join the trend's army. Fast forward to October 6, and Edgar-Jones went method-adjacent mode again: her ripped denim dressed down a (still available) high-collar jacket from Mango.

After weeks of promoting the Jane Austen adaptation in London, Ireland, Berlin, and Australia, the Sense and Sensibility entourage (led by Edgar-Jones, who plays the sensible Elinor Dashwood) arrived in L.A. With its U.S. theatrical release only a week away, she surprised movie-goers at The Grove in a familiar outfit formula left over from London: light-wash jeans, a white T-shirt, and pointy pumps shade-matched to her statement-making jacket.

This time, she (and her stylist, Dani Michelle) sourced Mango Selection (Barcelona-based brand's premium line) for the $270 satin Jacquard Stand Collar Jacket, featuring a flared waistband, puffed sleeves, and a lapel-less neckline. The milky white, subtly printed fashion moment marked the label's first Sense and Sensibility sighting, but it certainly isn't a stranger to Edgar-Jones's wardrobe.

Publicly, Edgar-Jones first wore Mango in late 2024. The black belted wool blazer was the earliest Mango find that she sold out soon after wearing, but it definitely wasn't the last.

Fast forward to the 2026 Cannes Film Festival in May, and her French Riviera-ready airport outfit made the label's A-Line Open-Back Dress disappear, too. There's no doubt that Edgar-Jones's endorsement played a part in the speedy sell-out, but the little white dress (complete with a ruched bodice and a calf-length cotton skirt) was also $150.

Meanwhile, the A-lister's accessories—black ballet flats by The Row and Miu Miu's matching Solitaire Bag—weren't as wallet-friendly.

Setting Jennifer Lawrence's Ugg boots and Bella Hadid's Vivaia ballet sneakers aside, VIPs rarely approve affordable fashion that isn't from the footwear department. So, when the opportunity to secure a star's exact style strikes, I've learned to act (and shop) quickly. That said, Edgar-Jones's latest Mango look won't stick around for long. But when (not if) the jacket inevitably sells out, might I suggest perusing the similar styles below?

Last night, my teenage son asked me how much I spent a year on skincare and after a beat, I said “a lot.” Working at a fashion magazine definitely has its benefits, but being influenced by all of the new products out there (see: Marie Claire’s 2026 Beauty Awards) also has some downsides. That being said, one brand that I started using because of my job is Tatcha, and it’s all down to Meghan Markle’s longtime makeup artist, Daniel Martin.

It's no surprise that Lawrence is beginning Boots Season in her beloved Uggs. She's been a staunch supporter of the San Francisco-based brand since 2014, pairing them with five-figure bags by The Row and Dior, designer outerwear, and all the loungewear in between. While Gomez and Bella Hadid share an affinity for Ugg boots with shorter shafts, Lawrence sticks to fuzzy suede footwear that stretches well beyond her ankles. This year, the Classic Short II Boots returned to her regular rotation in late September, following an eight-month hiatus.

Fast forward to October 5, and the Oscar winner took the Chestnut Suede color for another spin in New York City. While she slipped the calf-high shafts beneath vintage gray Carhartt jeans, the structured foam soles and earthy brown toe boxes confirmed she was indeed wearing Uggs. She finished her laid-back look with Loro Piana's Belted Dwight Coat (in the same chestnut shade as her shoes), Phoebe Philo's black suede Gig Bag, and Dior sunglasses.

Crisp 60-degree days in the city are keeping Lawrence's Ugg boots busy this week. The next day, she styled the Classic Short II shoes with another layered-up look, featuring a mossy green, cloud-like puffer coat from Dries Van Noten, light gray Colby Pants by La Ligne, and the same Phoebe Philo tote. The boots were barely visible beneath her wide-leg pants, but fans instantly recognized the Ugg hallmarks: the chestnut brown color and soft suede finish.

Sure, it would've been a treat to see Lawrence's Uggs on sale this Amazon Prime Day, right alongside Hadid's Vivaia ballet sneakers and Dakota Johnson's Levi's jeans. But I'm not patient enough to wait for Black Friday. And how often can I add a Lawrence-approved piece to my fall collection for under $200? Just the rarity of the wallet-friendly find justified placing my order.

For me, Black Friday is the most wonderful time of the year to stock up on Levi's jeans. But this year, I don't have to wait another month to refresh my denim drawer: Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days delivered a massive, Black Friday-adjacent discount on Dakota Johnson's signature Levi's style. So, what's the catch? The jeans will return to their pre-Prime Day price tag at midnight tonight.

While Bella Hadid's Vivaia ballet sneakers and Selena Gomez's Ugg slippers are 15 and 30 percent off, respectively, it seems like Levi's was feeling extremely generous this Prime Day. The 501 Jeans, which regularly retail for $84.95, are 60 percent off today—and not a minute longer. That's right, the distressed light-wash denim (complete with stovepipe-slim legs and holes beneath each knee) won't be $34 forever.

Now, it's worth noting that Johnson steers clear of new Levi's denim. Last November, when Vogue Germany asked the A-lister about her favorite jeans, she replied: "Always vintage Levi's. If you find a good pair—real ones, not altered ones!—they're the classic that always looks good." The San Francisco-based brand hasn't touched the storied 501 Jeans since their launch in May 1873. That said, whether you're scouring your local thrift store the Dakota Johnson Way or taking advantage of Prime Big Deal Days, the denim shares the same silhouette that she can't stop, won't stop styling.

And ripped denim isn't the only Johnson-supported Levi's style on sale. 501 Jeans with the legs intact are 19 percent off their original cost, too, making them $38. Members of the Sandringham community are in shock after a “hugely experienced and much-loved” family doctor who treated the senior royals was found dead in her home. According to the Sun, Hannah Terry, 45, was reportedly murdered by her husband, Mark Cain, as they hosted a children’s sleepover over the weekend.

Terry was part of the pool of doctors who treated members of the Royal Family when they visited the Sandringham estate, and per the media outlet, “was believed to have treated senior royals, including Queen Camilla.”

Cain was charged with murder after Terry was found dead at 2:20 a.m. Sunday morning in their home in Dersingham, England, an upscale village located on the edge of King Charles's private estate. Cain appeared in court on October 7 and remains in custody.

The mother of three worked at Grimston Medical Centre in King’s Lynn, where members of the Royal Family routinely seek out medical treatment. Per the the clinic's Facebook page, it was closed Monday “due to extremely difficult circumstances affecting our practice team."

King Charles and Queen Camilla were made aware of Terry's death, and tributes to the beloved doctor have poured in from patients and members of the local community.

Clinical administrator Julie-Ann Rayner told the Sun: “I had the pleasure of working with her for a few years. She was an amazing doctor and an amazing person, really wonderful, really warm-hearted, she really cared about her family."

“It’s incredibly sad what’s happened, everybody’s completely shocked," she added. “I can’t stop thinking about her boys and what they must be going through.”

Sure, it's only October, but for me, Slippers Season is in full swing. Just in time to refresh my indoor-outdoor shoe rack, Selena Gomez's signature Ugg slippers became one of Amazon's can't-miss Prime Big Deal Days bargains. Now, I could wait until Black Friday to shop the slippers I've had my eye on since her Bachelorette trip to Cabo last summer, but who's to say next month's markdown will match Prime Day's discount?

While I won't style the Uggs the summery Selena Gomez Way (with a backless tank top and Daisy dukes), I know I'll benefit from the sale in winter, spring, and beyond.

They're still over $100, which is all the more reason to treat yourself to the Elea Slip-On Slippers. Sales this good—especially on VIP-approved pieces—aren't promised every Amazon Prime Day.

Princess Margaret was famous for her love of a good time, but that also led to some sticky incidents, as her former lady-in-waiting, Anne Glenconner reveals in her new memoir, Trunks & Tiaras. Lady Glenconner served the late princess for 31 years, and she admits that Margaret could sometimes let people down.

In a serialization of the book in the Daily Mail, Lady Glenconner wrote that “traveling around the world with a princess was great fun.” However, one of their journeys was a slight disaster due to the free-flowing alcohol.

“A trip to New Orleans during Mardi Gras proved too much temptation for both Princess Margaret and her maid,” Lady Glenconner wrote. “We’d had a fabulous day watching the floats go past and enjoying the carnival. It was all great fun, but there had been rum on tap all day.”

Princess Margaret’s maid got so drunk that when it came time to prepare a bath for the royal, she “crawled into the bathroom on all fours, barely managing to reach up to the taps.”

Lady Glenconner said that she put the maid to bed, “ran the bath and told Princess Margaret that the maid wasn’t well,” adding that Margaret “was not remotely cross about the fact that she’d been unable to fulfil her duties.”

But the next day, it was the princess who couldn’t commit to her duties. The Trunks & Tiaras author explained that they “were supposed to be visiting a historic house which the owner, a nice woman, had been doing up all year in preparation for the visit.”

Despite committing to the visit far in advance, Princess Margaret refused to get out of bed. “I had a little tap tap on my door from the maid who said, ‘I’m so sorry but I can’t seem to get Princess Margaret up,” Lady Glenconner wrote. “She says she has a headache.’”

Lady Glenconner said she replied, “Well she’s jolly well got to” and attempted to get Margaret out of bed. “Most of the time this worked but, on this occasion, she simply said, ‘Oh, Anne, stop bullying me,’ and pulled the covers back over her head,” the author shared.

“I ended up having to call the lady whose house we were supposed to be visiting to tell her Princess Margaret was unwell and that I would be attending on her behalf,” Lady Glenconner wrote, recalling that “the poor woman was naturally extremely disappointed and burst into tears on the telephone.”

The author also recalled a time when a "very tired and rather grumpy" Princess Margaret arrived in Australia and ignored a group of Girl Guides who had been waiting to meet her.

"It was my first visit with her abroad, so I was a little anxious but I pulled her aside and said, ‘Ma’am, I’m so sorry to ask but the Guides have been waiting here for hours and I know how kind you are and that you won’t want to let them down. Could you possibly just go over and say hello?’" Lady Glenconner recalled.

Fortunately, Princess Margaret took the speech to heart and greeted the girls. "To her credit she did," Lady Glenconner wrote. "Sometimes my powers of persuasion worked, unlike the disastrous hangover in New Orleans."

Sites like Kensington Palace, Windsor Castle and Westminster Abbey are highlights of any tour of the U.K., and for royal fans, they’re on the top of most people’s bucket lists. Along with visiting Kensington Palace, travelers will experience Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London and Windsor Castle before heading north to Edinburgh, Scotland. When asked what his favorite royal residence is, Burrell notes that while Buckingham Palace “is the seat of the British Royal Family” and served as his home for more than a decade, Scotland has his heart. “Balmoral has always been my favorite and is the favorite of many in the family including the late Queen, who spent her last days here,” he says. “It is a very special and magical place with a unique atmosphere—a fairytale castle set amongst the heather-covered mountains of the Scottish Highlands.”

Prince William headed to Ilminster, England to highlight the impact of extreme weather on local communities, and during his day out, he tried to get actor Ross Kemp to spill some spoilers about The Traitors.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are both fans of the reality show, and Kemp—who rose to fame with his role in soap opera EastEnders—is taking part in the new Celebrity Traitors season in the U.K. Kemp serves as an ambassador for the National Emergencies Trust, while Prince William is the charity’s royal patron, and they teamed up for an event unveiling a new emergency kit for local residents.

While joining the Ilminster Under 16s football club to chat about how they can take action against flooding, the topic of who might win Celebrity Traitors came up.

“I’ll get Ross to tell me the answer about what happens. Spoiler alert!” Prince William exclaimed, per the Sun, but Kemp remained tight-lipped about the outcome of the show. “I am a faithful,” was all he’d tell the group.

The Ilminster area was impacted by both severe flooding and wildfires in the past year, and Kemp joined Prince William in training exercises designed to help residents prepare for severe weather.

As for Celebrity Traitors, Kemp didn’t seem surprised that the royals were into the show. Speaking about William and Kate watching at home, Kemp said: “That’s great. Them and the rest of the country. I’ve been on the TV for 43 years but I’ve never known anything like this.”

Last week, after Schiaparelli's Spring/Summer 2027 show, Law Roach called Daniel Roseberry the "one and only designer that gave us dresses and gowns," seemingly commenting on the uptick in laid-back looks on Paris Fashion Week runways. "The girls we dress have places to go and they need fashion, dresses, and gowns." So, while the stylist's most devoted client, Zendaya, may have arrived at Louis Vuitton's spring runway show in jeans, there was nothing casual about her look.

For her fourth Louis Vuitton fête straight, Zendaya decided to switch things up in the front-row fashion department. Following back-to-back mini dresses at the Spring 2026, Fall 2026, and Cruise 2027 showcases, the brand ambassador arrived in a cropped camisole, ruffled jacket worthy of a Versailles queen, and straight-leg, low-rise jeans that could've been plucked from a French girl's denim rotation. (Seriously, Fashion Week was flooded with similar silhouettes and shades.)

The crisp 65-degree day called for an early-autumn outerwear design, but because she's Zendaya, hers wasn't your average grab-and-go jacket. After sourcing her red carpet archives, she gave a custom, two-month-old Louis Vuitton coat—seen at the Paris premiere of The Odyssey—a second life on creative director Nicolas Ghesquière's sidelines.

Originally, the actor layered the cropped coat's sheer sleeves and massive profile-framing ruffles over a lacy, lingerie-inspired dress with a keyhole cut-out. This time, though, the gown wasn't the center of attention. In fact, it wasn't anywhere near the spring fashion show. She might've felt overdressed next to Emma Stone's cobalt blue skirt suit or Sophie Turner's leather trousers look.

At Louis Vuitton's spring showcase, all eyes went to Zendaya's bold, bridal-white blouse, which she shade-matched to pointy pumps, also from the French fashion house. That's right, the Christian Louboutin "So Kate" loyalist gave her signature stilettos a brief break at Paris Fashion Week. Perhaps she's preparing the sky-high red-bottoms for the Dune: Part Three press tour, starting in Dec. 2026.

To finish her first (and only) Fashion Month outfit, the It girl accessorized with her east-west engagement ring and teeny-tiny hoop earrings.

If she wasn't, you know, Zendaya, I might've mistook her—and the way she wore the high-low look—for a French girl. The locals adore denim's rare ability to make the rest of an outfit feel more relaxed—even a bespoke bridal-white jacket.

Now, will the Louis Vuitton look finish Z's (unfortunately short) Paris Fashion Week return? Only time will tell. Last May, at the Cruise 2027 in NYC, she surprised fans by selecting an after-party look—complete with can't-miss track shorts—straight from the minutes-old collection. Here's hoping Zendaya will follow suit after the Spring 2027 soirée, too.

Amazon Prime Big Deal Days are here, and as a royal editor, I’m always on the lookout for Princess Kate-approved steals in the sale. Whether you’re looking for her rumored favorite mascara or a pair of her beloved sunglasses, this week’s sale has got you covered.
