Prime Day 2026 covers both ends of the Coach spectrum. Right alongside Hadid's minimalist best-sellers, there's the more on-the-nose, "I'm carrying a Coach bag" moments like Elle Fanning's beloved Tabby. The brand ambassador owns the '70s-inspired status symbol—known for its iconic "C" magnet closure—in a variety of colors and finishes.

My Coach Swing Zip bag and I are about to celebrate our three-year anniversary. I treated myself to the east-west bag in 2023, during its second restock. I'm glad I secured the Swing Zip before Olivia Rodrigo did, because it's about to get a lot trickier to track down.

Rodrigo debuted the once-$295 best-seller on TikTok in late May, but it's barely left her shoulder this week in London. Much like my chocolate brown Swing Zip, hers stands out for its rare silver hardware. (Coach bags almost always feature brass zippers and buckles, which explains its counterpart's sold-out status.) This simple switch from gold to silver matched the punk-rock energy of her Sex Pistols graphic tee, leather mini skirt, and knee-high boots from Dolce & Gabbana.

In late 2023, Coach added the reimagined 1998 Swing Zip to its archival Coach Originals collection. Subtle branding, glossy patent leather, and a zip-top closure make it one of Coach's most minimalist models. The tote's only embellishment? Micro-mini buckles beneath each adjustable shoulder strap. That's right, Coach's "C" logo is nowhere to be found on Rodrigo's purse. (She left the emblem to the Coach Tabby, Jet, and the Juliet Bags.)

Every shade—cream, brown, black, and emerald—didn't need Rodrigo's endorsement to sell out overnight. The Swing Zip's day-to-night potential did that all on its own. The minute photos of Rodrigo's June 2 look dropped, I booked it to my closet to try recreating it. She was spotted in London wearing the Chloé tank top I never knew I needed. It started out as a white sleeveless Henley, before a standout Spring 2026 floral pattern gave it a maximalist makeover.

The same raspberry-pink roses seen on Chloé's asymmetrical runway sundresses blossomed from slim straps, beyond the scoop neck's mother-of-pearl buttons, and toward a scalloped, hip-hugging hemline. Subtle vertical ribbing made the $850 tank look and feel well-loved—as if Rodrigo's worn it for years. Tank top season is off to a strong start, thanks to Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Tate McRae, Dua Lipa, and Rodrigo, of course. Stark-white styles still reign supreme among my favorite A-listers, but if anyone can change that, it's Rodrigo.

Plus, she has the support of Ann Demeulemeester, Elie Saab, Victoria Beckham, Isabel Marant, and Gabriela Hearst in her corner. Classic white tanks were nowhere to be found on the aforementioned spring runways—sequins, cut-outs, and even statement prints like Rodrigo's took over instead. I'm planning on giving my closet the same revamp. My tanks won't be basic for long.

When Coach's Brooklyn Bag went viral a few years ago, I knew it was a piece I had to have—and once I owned it, I nearly never put it down. It ranked amongst my favorite laptop bags and nearly dethroned Longchamp's Le Pliage as my go-to travel bag. But now, there's a new Coach bag hanging from my shoulder—and it might just replace every other one I own, including the Brooklyn. Meet: The Chelsea 30.

The new style, which retails for $325 and comes in a mix of leather and suede finishes, offers the minimalist appeal of a traditional shoulder bag and the interior capacity of a much larger tote. It’s a Mary Poppins-esque style, built to fit just about anything (and everything) you throw its way. It also comes in a slightly larger size, the Chelsea 36, which retails for $425.

In my case, this usually includes a 13" laptop, which I am happy to report fits nicely inside. On a recent workday, I was also able to puzzle together enough room for several pairs of linen pants I was testing for another story, a makeup bag, and the rest of my usual essentials—phone, wallet, keys, and over-the-ear headphones.

For Bella Hadid, the Chelsea—in a larger size—offers a break from her ultra-luxe Cannes Film Festival red-carpet lineup. She was spotted styling a chocolate-brown colorway outside the Hotel Martinez. In styling it, Hadid all but cemented its rise as the label's next true It-Bag—she was one of the first to co-sign the Brooklyn bag back in 2024, after all.

Coach's Chelsea is just the latest in a series of flap-friendly bags making the rounds in the fashion world. Chanel, riding high on Blazy-mania, is seeing a spike in sales thanks to its Maxi Flap shoulder bag. The enlarged silhouette was an immediate standout on Blazy's first Chanel runway show back in September, and the hype carried over once the style hit stores this spring. Before that, Balenciaga's Rodeo bag was noted as the official It Girl-approved laptop bag throughout the fall, favored for its blend of form and function.

Each of these styles is the answer to a routine lived on the go. One week after UCLA's star center, Lauren Betts, helped secure her team its first NCAA championship, she teased the designer behind her 2026 WNBA Draft look. In an Instagram post live from New York City—before the Washington Mystics called her name on April 13—she showed off a Coach Tabby Bag. Not long after, she walked the red carpet at The Shed at Hudson Yards in a custom Coach set, ready to receive her first-ever WNBA jersey.

Ahead of her big moment, though, Betts told Marie Claire she had "no worries" about the event because "we're all naturals in front of the camera," referring to her UCLA teammates: "It's like being at the draft with your best friends." (Last year, Paige Bueckers, Aneesah Morrow, Hailey Van Lith, and Sonia Citron all carried Tabby Bags on the carpet, too.) The newly-minted Mystic has something her soon-to-be competitors don't: family ties to the brand. She and her mom purchased their first designer bags from Coach, she reveals—fast-forward 15 years or so, and she's "put my whole team on, so we all have a [Coach] bag now."

Gorjana jewelry matched the minimalist suave of Betts' slip-style dress. Being part of the label's Sports Club gave her an all-access pass to a $5,615, lab-grown diamond chain, a matching $2,775 tennis necklace, and $540 hoop huggie earrings.

The '90s-inspired mood board translated to her hair and makeup, too. Her makeup artist tapped into Betts's month-old partnership with Nyx to create bronze smokey eyes, chiseled cheeks, feathered brows, and glossy nude lips.

Wearing Coach to the WNBA Draft was a "dream come true" for Betts, but this is just the beginning of her fashion-girl era. If last night's look was her sartorial warm-up, her upcoming tunnel walks will mirror a March Madness-esque marathon.

"Fashion is something that I've always been really interested in," she says. "I'm excited to show my personality and my style a little bit more than I get to in college."

New York City seems to be Reid's favorite place to debut new Coach bags. This week, her newest addition was spotted outside The Drew Barrymore Show: She carried a white iteration of the Tabby 36, which debuted on Coach's Spring 2026 runway, as a clutch, showing off the elongated top flap bag's accordion-style side gussets. The signature magnetized "C" closure acted like jewelry atop its trio of pockets. Reid's cropped pink sweater and black polka-dotted white bubble maxi skirt were from Self-Portrait, and are both available to shop now for $460 and $560, respectively.

The actor began collecting Tabbys long before becoming a certified Coach girl last April. In fact, a tinier Tabby—half the size of her latest acquisition—was her plus-one at the 2024 Met Gala. It featured a bedazzled Big Apple bag charm, its black calfskin matching the bustier atop her custom corset Coach ballgown.

The 22-year-old has remained loyal to the style since, carrying it in different shades and sizes at award shows, premieres, and New York Fashion Weeks. At the brand's February's show, she used a crystal-beaded 26 model to tease Coach's miniature book bag charms, which sold out in March faster than you can say "Tabby". If she keeps this up, I'll be cosplaying a West Coast It-girl by March 1.

Two years later, fashion girls are ready to turn the page with an assist from Coach's literary book bag charms.

Creative director Stuart Vevers dangled miniature, handmade leather books on Coach's Spring 2026 Kisslock Bags last September. In the moment, even without recognizable titles on their tiny embossed covers, it didn't take a degree in literature to appreciate the appeal. The leather goods label shrunk down novels to a fraction of a hardcover's size, a shortcut for signaling the wearer does their extra credit reading. Miniature versions of the already-compact books became earrings, too.

Coach's book charms went MIA for five months after that runway debut. Voracious readers and BookTok influencers have spent the intervening months wondering if the brand would produce them—and making their own. One fan even crafted a Coach-inspired Frankenstein copy. But finally, on February 11, the Spring 2026 standout finally returned on nearly every bag in the Fall 2026 show's front row. It brings out her "true bookworm" side, influencing her to stay up late to finish "just one more chapter" more than once.

On paper, hanging a book from your bag might feel like the fashion girl equivalent to the performative male trend; specifically, stuffing a paperback in a visible jeans pocket. Instead, Coach's charms are the latest chapter in the fashion industry-wide literary takeover. It didn't all start in 2026: Parisian label Olympia Le-Tan has offered hand-embroidered book clutches since 2009. (Elle Fanning is the proud owner of one.) But as recently as last week, New York Fashion Week fixtures incorporated literature into the show notes, including Rachel Scott with reading lists and Joseph Altuzarra with books as post-show souvenirs.

Bram Stoker's Dracula Book Tote sank its fangs into Rihanna and Jennifer Lawrence's street styles, long before it became widely shoppable in Jan. 2026.

Treating reading as a fashion flex goes beyond bag charms. It seems everyone who's anyone hosts a VIP book club, including Dakota Johnson, Dua Lipa, Kaia Gerber, Natalie Portman, and Laufey. What's more, Lipa and Gerber frequently host public meetings—a prime backdrop for matching book titles to designer pulls from Gucci, Schiaparelli, and more. When she's not assigning Library Science's next book of the month, Gerber also designs book-inspired baby tees, all of which sell out in record time. Coach's book charms would make an adorable post-meeting souvenir from any celebrity-turned-club curator.

Books aren't only being checked out for miniature charms; full-size versions are making it to the red carpet. On Feb. 1, an actual book was FKA Twigs's plus-one at the 2026 Grammys. After winning her first golden trophy, she posed for photographers—not with the trophy, but a green, antique-looking book representing the "lore" of her album, Eusexua. A recent Gallup poll found that U.S. optimism about the future at an all-time low. Two months into 2026, people have been dealing with unpredictable tariffs and trade policies. Rising costs of living that stretch nearly everyone thin. Violence against peaceful protestors. Unraveling protections against climate change. Restrictions on freedom of speech. The vibes so far are, to put it mildly, not good.

Naturally, the Fall 2026 runways at New York Fashion Week—the official kick-off to Fashion Month in February—couldn't help but reflect the ways designers are metabolizing the cultural climate. Nearly every show on the condensed calendar had something to say about the role clothes play when it feels like the world is in chaos. The way they each coped with big-picture issues through fashion, though, varied greatly from brand to brand.

It started with a hug—or rather, a series of scarves, shawls, and scarf-coat hybrids swaddling the wearer in velvet and wool, like an incredibly elegant comfort blanket. From TWP's Nantucket minimalist runway to Michael Kors's 45th anniversary celebration at the New York City Opera House, models cocooned to the highest degree, securing their outer layers with antique brooches, to dismiss any Snuggie comparisons. Still, it's hard to view the pieces as anything but taking shelter.

Some designers became more cerebral in how they internalized the present by referencing the past. Marc Jacobs took a self-referential route, resurfacing and slightly tweaking the silhouettes and patterns that defined his tenures at Perry Ellis, Louis Vuitton, and, of course, the earliest Marc Jacobs runways. Calvin Klein looked to its pre-boxer briefs boom in the late '80s and early '90s. Even if the pieces themselves weren't obvious throwbacks or allusions to a "simpler time," they often were informed by something personal—like how Sandy Liang referenced her mother's apron and a childhood bedspread. Tory Burch cut a new version of her father's favorite corduroy pants. Kallmeyer's entire show notes were dedicated to memory—even if, from afar, the collection played back the tailoring she's best known for.

After a triumphant runway debut for Proenza Schouler, Rachel Scott presented the Fall 2026 collection of her first label, Diotima, which more overtly engaged with what's playing out in the headlines. Several pieces were created in collaboration with Refugee Atelier, a group she defined in show notes as "women from across the world whose skills carry their own histories of displacement and resilience." Scott also engaged with the work of artist Wifredo Lam to inform who her woman is right now—someone who "refuses domination," she wrote.

There were also moments where unraveling was the main mode of dress, from distressed shorts and ties at Coach's fashion show to the ripped-up sweaters and decaying corsets at Elena Velez. Instead of retreating from the tumult, punk-rock flourishes suggested embracing it instead.

But the most optimistic takes emerged at NYFW regulars that encouraged their clients to fight back—and gave them the armor to do so. Some houses, like Ralph Lauren, Mel Ursine, and Christian Cowan, mixed Joan of Arc-esque chainmail with their fall riding boots and oversized coats. On Valentine's Day, Khaite displayed several riffs on military jackets, reworking eighteenth century epaulettes and trimmings into heavy-duty leather.

New York City designers have always had a tendency toward modes of so-called "power dressing." This is a market filled with career women who need outfits for their offices and work trips, after all. But the stronger-than-usual shoulders and glints of Camelot metallics said Fall 2026 can't just be a season for retreating into nostalgia and comfort. With critical midterm elections on the horizon, it could be another time for change. So maybe, the answer is to dress like you won't accept defeat just yet.

There are a few guarantees at a Coach fall fashion show: plush shearling jackets, an evening dress or two, leather bags destined for the arms of celebrities and everyday shoppers alike. All of these were present and accounted for in the collection debuting at New York Fashion Week on February 11. But the brand's Fall 2026 look turned up the volume loudest for a favorite reference of Stuart Vevers': the creative director's love of all things counterculture.

In a sea of grunge, Marc Jacobs-esque plaids, frayed Bermuda shorts, and prep school neckties left intentionally off-kilter, Coach welcomed show-goers to its take on My Chemical Romance's Black Parade. The overall vibe was back to school by way of the Warped Tour. Even mini backpacks with a kisslock closure had a bit of an attitude.

In show notes, Vevers called the collection a fusion of 1940s tailoring and '70s sportswear—plus a potpourri of references ranging from Film Noir, varsity uniforms, and the Wizard of Oz. "Youth" and "counterculture" got multiple shout-outs, too. A few runway looks spotlighted satin-y, high-neck dresses set with a celestial brooch or a jacket with silver stars down the side. But the punk influence still came through: Black and gray were the predominant colors, with splashes of bright red in between; the outfit-finishers of choice were high-top skater sneakers and inside-out blazers.

Leather bags—where Coach often flexes its ability to guess what the kids want—also took a trip through the wayback machine. The design team looked back at its 1970s archives for more reinterpretations of Bonnie Cashin's earliest accessory designs for the brand. Oversize leather messengerss and mini East-West bags with coin purse closures had the most potential to resonate with prepsters and minimalists, as well as this runway's punk rockers. But sticking to the theme, the mini bags weren't carried by their strap or hoisted over a shoulder; they had to be scrunched in one hand like a newspaper (or a detention slip).

As always, Coach's front row was populated by young stars, including Elle Fanning, Odessa A'Zion, Emily Bader, Storm Reid, and Mckenna Grace. On Instagram before the show, Vevers dedicated the collection to a name fans might not have known: Fawn, his nine-day-old daughter. Will Generation Beta's revolution come with a vintage Coach dress code by the time she's old enough to wear today's collection? Vevers seemed to hope so. "We embrace the continuous reinvention of what it means to be young and forward-looking, resourceful and creative," he wrote in the show notes.

Coach Fall 2026

Coach shoppers at Marie Claire have sensed a pattern in creative director Stuart Vevers's shows: Each season's respective It-bag debuts within the first ten runway looks. For instance, Fall 2025's Empire Carryall 34 emerged as soon as Look 4, while Spring 2026's Kisslock Barrel opened the show. On February 11, Coach Fall 2026 continued the tradition, welcoming the Kisslock Frame Bag 30 to the family right away in Look 1.

Half-way through the first day of New York Fashion Week, locals and visitors alike shifted their focus to Vevers's 44-piece collection, featuring patchwork blazers, letterman jackets-turned-tops, and Bermuda shorts aplenty. Once lights illuminated the runway inside Cipriani, viewers—both in person and online—instantly came face-to-face with the Kisslock Barrel's successor: the Kisslock Frame Bag.

Not a single model carried it as intended: by the singular, spaghetti-thin strap. Instead, they scrunched up the buttery-soft leather like yesterday's newspaper, folding the shoulder strap and supple main compartment in on themselves. The metal frame became the only sharp feature among a sea of slouch. Grabbing the Kisslock Frame at its center gave the new design the nostalgic charm of archival Coach bags. (Think: the TikTok-famous ones you'd score while thrifting.) It seems Vevers purposefully presented it this way, as an homage to its circa-1969 roots.

Usually, when a designer's runway show debuts a new purse, it won't hit shelves until months later. For instance, Jonathan Anderson's new Dior Book Tote dropped in Jan. 2026, eight months after it premiered on the Men's Spring 2026 catwalk. Coach's Kisslock Frame Bag, on the other hand, punctually joined the online catalog in time with the first stomp of a model's sneakers.

Vevers wasted no time dropping five fresh-off-the-runway colors online, including black, chocolate brown, coral red, and sky blue, all crafted from glove-tanned leather. With only 515 Kisslock Frames in stock, they're destined to sell out. It doesn't help that the elongated east-west silhouette, kiss-lock closure, and detachable shoulder strap are unlike any Coach bag on the market right now. Vevers based the Fall 2026 hero piece on the 56-year-old Cashin Carry, designed by Coach's first lead designer, Bonnie Cashin.

The once-$35 Cashin Carry featured near-identical metal frame clasps, plus a 11.75" long, albeit compact, 4" high body. Now, each vintage-inspired Kisslock Frame retails for $350, making it one of Coach's most affordable recent releases. (The Empire Carryall and Kisslock Barrel went live at $650 and $525, respectively.)

Kiss-lock closures have been Coach's calling card since Bonnie Cashin released her namesake bag. Vevers first picked up where Cashin left off with the Large Kisslock Frame Bag; an impossible-to-miss Spring 2025 show-stealer. Look 9 introduced the comically-oversize clutch, in all its strapless yet structured glory. A larger-than-life kiss-lock bridged the familiar glove-tanned leather, except in black, burgundy, white, pink, green, and more. (The anti-zipper even appeared on heart, dinosaur, and teddy bear-shaped clutches.)

Since then, the best-seller has sold out at least three times. Fans are still begging Vevers for another restock. "Please don't get upset with me in the comments if this sells out quickly (again)," the designer wrote on Instagram before last July's restock. Spoiler: It disappeared in minutes.

By Spring 2026, Vevers made up for the Large Kisslock's extinction with its little sister: the Kisslock Barrel Bag. Miniature yellow-gold closures returned on the sidewalls of each duffle-shaped, suede or leather tote, of which there was no shortage in the 47-look show. Though the silhouettes couldn't be more different, the Large Kisslock and the Kisslock Barrel shared the same fate: They, too, aren't shoppable anymore.

Should the Kisslock Frame Bag inevitably sell out after the runway show, don't fret: Coach stocked the site with Spring 2026 jackets that'll fill the Kisslock-shaped hole in your closet (and heart). Introducing four 1950s-inspired Varsity Jackets, two in wool and two in leather, straight from Vevers's hours-old line. Like the Kisslock Frames, however, "once they're gone, they're gone." (Coach's words, not mine.) Only two jackets are available per silhouette.

No matter which style ends up in your cart, you can't go wrong with the New York label's current class of designs. Coach recently scored a top 10 spot in fashion search engine Lyst's Q4 2025 "Hottest Brands" roundup, after all. If you're one of the lucky Kisslock Frame Bag winners, congratulations. If not, come back after Coach's Spring 2027 show next fall. Knowing Vevers, he'll have another brand-new It bag all set to sell out.

Coach has made a name for itself as a titan in the leather goods space. However, it’s also a brand fueled by reinvention, able to innovate and churn out viral, celebrity- and editor-adored accessories year after year, while still honoring its roots. If I played my cards right the previous 12 months, I don’t necessarily need to start my year with a major closet cleanout. That said, I do make a point to take stock of what’s working, what doesn’t feel like me anymore, and what ended up being more of a microtrend blip than a solid investment. As a fashion editor, I love trying out new looks, but I’ve honed my taste over the years to have a pretty good idea of what’s actually worth the closet space.

For 2026, I ended up tossing a few short-sighted misses, but I’m proud to say a lot of what I loved last year not only still excites me, but will grow to become even more essential. A lot of these trends are still climbing towards their peak, and I’m glad to have some pieces already here at my disposal.

So, what made the cut? In terms of color palette, neutrals that go beyond classic black will be heavily prioritized in the year to come. And don’t worry if you really leaned into butter yellow—for now, you’re totally safe. Matching sets have also proven to be a great investment, as have silk and satin separates that make everyday garb feel fancy in a flash. Plus, I’m betting that two trends that started picking up speed as 2025 wrapped will be everywhere in 2026: track pants styled outside the gym and ridiculously big tote bags. Comfy! Practical! Don’t mind if I do.

Below, a few snaps of what survived my January closet cleanout—plus the trends I’m bringing with me into 2026 (and are worth trying for yourself).

Butter Yellow

While a bevy of new color trends are rolling in for 2026 (remind me to talk more about light blue soon, OK?), I’m happy to report that butter yellow won’t be leaving us anytime soon. In fact, with spring just around the corner, it’s about to be as prevalent as ever.

Alo’s Candlelight colorway might just be the most gorgeous shade of yellow I’ve seen to date. Lately, I’ve been layering this cashmere crewneck with a coordinating cardigan around the shoulders for some monochrome goodness.

Non-Black Neutrals

In 2025, I found myself eager to push beyond the comfort zone that an all-black look too easily provided. A simple switch from basic black to chocolatey browns and charcoal grays did wonders for my everyday wardrobe. Throw in some interesting taupes and olives, and, suddenly, neutrals felt as exciting as the rainbow.

Here, I’m wearing an all-bown look featuring this awesome faux jacket from H&M and these brown Abercrombie jeans that haven’t left my legs since I got them—absolutely zero notes.

Matching Sets

Some of my best investments over the last year or so have been co-ords with major mix-and-match-ability. I love wearing a full set together, but the option to break it up and still like the pieces separately is what really guarantees they’ll stand the test of time in your wardrobe.

This grey jacket and trouser combo from Le Bop (ShopBop’s stellar in-house brand I only recently discovered, BTW) has been on repeat. It also plays into my love for non-black neutrals, of course.

Big Totes

I’ve recently been relying hard on my biggest, slouchiest tote bags. Compared to some previous handbag trends, this one is extremely practical, and the commuter in me absolutely loves it.

Speaking of my commute—I can’t tell you how many people have stopped to ask me about the bag I’m wearing above. It’s the Kite Hobo Maxi from Strathberry, and in addition to fitting a ton, it looks like it should cost at least triple what it actually does. The brand’s quality is exceptional.

Silks and Satins

First, it was the bias-cut satin skirt obsession of the late 2010s. Then, we moved on to the satin pant in the early 2020s. In ‘26, silks and satins are still reigning supreme as the best fabrics to elevate simple silhouettes for nights out and otherwise dressy occasions.

Luckily, I’ve been stocking up for a while, although this lacy cami and matching pant combo in navy are a newer addition from Loft that I can’t get enough of. And as a callback to my matching set praise earlier, let me point out that these look great styled separately as well. The satin pants with a cozy navy sweater up top for daytime? Chef’s kiss.

Track Pants

In 2026, I’m really leaning into an ABJ—“Anything But Jeans”—lifestyle. I mean it when I say my ‘fits hit the hardest when I’m not relying on denim.

My go-to at the moment are trackies, perhaps because I have the Winslow pants from Tibi in its iconic crispy nylon material in multiple colors. They have such a unique, slightly exaggerated silhouette that elevates them from mere track pants to a total fashion moment. Here, I styled them with a faux-layered sweater to show how great they look when you explore styling beyond an activewear approach.

I think I may be allergic to wearing color. I blame my New York City upbringing for this—as well as my parents, who wore the chicest all-black outfits when I was growing up. After years of fighting it, I have simply decided to embrace it in my 30s. And thank goodness, because I now get to scroll through my favorite retailers' and brands' websites for hours, pulling together my favorite finds guilt-free. It's a task I take very seriously: My monochromatic shopping list for winter 2026 has taken me weeks to build. But I'm finally ready to share.

Right now, I'm looking to replace pieces I've worn to death (like my favorite Longchamp laptop bag and black jeans from Agolde), as well as sprinkle in newness from Zara, H&M, Nordstrom, and more. Historically, it’s been relatively easy to predict how Gen Z will feel about a fashion trend. If Millennials like it, Zoomers won’t. If it originated online and doubles as a quick-to-pick-up persona—a mob wife, an office siren, or insert-whatever-core-comes-next—the digitally-native generation typically embraces it. For a while, it felt like the generation’s top two style priorities were making Millennials mad and curating a digital-first identity. At least they were, until 2026.

“After years of ultra-fast micro-trends, Gen Z is showing fatigue with constant novelty and is increasingly valuing pieces that last—emotionally, stylistically, and materially,” explains Noémie Voyer, fashion lead at trend analytics platform Heuritech.

No longer driven by a knee-jerk rejection of Millennial style and now a grown-up member of the workforce in an unpredictable financial, political, and social reality, Gen Z wants clothes that provide joy and security. “Globally, fashion [in 2026] is less about rigid labels or one defining aesthetic and more about fluid self-expression, mixing personal references depending on mood, context, or community," Voyer says. "And [Gen Z] are the best at playing with that.”

To make sense of where the generation now falls on the fashion landscape, Marie Claire polled two Gen Z fashion creators, a secondhand expert at Depop, and a trend forecaster for their insights. (Full disclosure: I, Emma Childs, MC's fashion features editor, am also a ‘98-born Zoomer.) Ahead, discover the top Gen Z fashion trends for 2026, as well as the specific styles and brands they’re shopping. Across all ages, the findings below are a great lesson in self-expression balanced with functionality.

Old-Soul Sportswear

According to Gen Z, athleisure is dead. Long live athleisure.

In its place comes a more stylized take on sportswear. “Post-pandemic habits remain embedded but are now translated into more polished, intentional silhouettes rather than overt loungewear,” says Voyer. Or, as Ruby Lyn, a Gen Z social media star with a combined audience of over 1.2 million followers, puts it, the generation is still wearing workout wear, but “not in a matching-set kind of way—in a ‘90’s-celeb-grocery-run way.”

In action, the trend looks like athletic essentials paired with tailored, everyday items. (Think: track jackets with denim and striped rugby shirts with kitten heels.) Gen Z is also leading a vintage sportswear revival, "which reflects a taste for comfort, style, and cultural relevance,” says Steve Dool, the senior director of brand and creative at Depop. To quantify it: Searches for "vintage Lululemon" are up 1,689 percent on Depop, as are those for "upcycled jerseys" (up 233 percent), "skiwear" (up 228 percent), and "bike shorts" (up 133 percent).

Modern Uniforms

In 2026, “consistency becomes the new flex,” says Dool. “Amid decision fatigue, economic tension, and digital noise, people are turning to dependable, neutral staples with sharp tailoring, boxy knits, and workwear classics as a way to express taste through repetition rather than constant reinvention.”

Sarahbelle Kim, a Zoomer content creator and buying trainee at Bloomingdale's, sees this specific Gen Z shift as a side effect of the flattening trend cycle. “Things that were once niche have become viral fodder (e.g., Margiela Tabis), and the recycling of aesthetics and the internet's tendency to rapidly tire of them will eventually force us to reckon with what it means to have a personal relationship with style. Functionality in clothing—ample pockets, compartments, etc.—will be appreciated as we go forward, perhaps cutting through some of the noise.”

Expect to see the generation in timeless, easy-to-rewear items, including utility jackets, quarter zips, and button-down shirts they can don to their corporate 9-to-5s, as well as balloon pants that are easy to move in. The H&M Group brand Cos particularly excels here, with Depop searches for it spiking over 696 percent.

Mad Hatter

2026 is the year Gen Z goes all-in on “crazy, funky, junky hats,” to quote The Wizards of Waverly Place, one of the many Disney shows it was raised on. As Voyer notes, hats are low-lift additions with personality and flair, an easy win for a generation hyper-focused on individuality.

The trend forecaster adds that Gen Z is also increasingly reaching for vintage-inspired hats, “as retro and familiar references are used less as irony and more as reassurance in a context of economic, social, and digital instability.”

Kim confirms Voyer’s point by highlighting the pillbox hat trend, part of fashion’s overall “return to ‘50s sensibilities.” Additionally, Lyn endorses paperboy caps, while Voyer adds fur and knit hats in “cute, retro, Wes Anderson-esque shapes” to the list.

2010s Revival

A noticeable shift from its known ire against styles that Millennials feel fondly for, Gen Z has endorsed “the swagalicious return of the 2010s,” as Kim describes it. The generation used to call skinny jeans cringe, but now they’re cool in an irreverent Addison Rae kind of way. (Searches for “skinny jeans” spiked 131 percent on Depop over the last year.)

Dool adds that Ed Hardy, original Hollister pieces (especially those babydoll-style tops that peaked around 2012), and JNCO jorts have become highly sought after on the secondhand platform. Kim also anticipates an “explosion of turquoise, pastel grunge, studded accessories, fringe, chunky heels, and bandage dresses"—all styles that defined the era as well as Kesha and mustache motifs did.

Everyday Ceremony

As the younger generation reckons with real-life responsibilities, it’s leaving behind extreme displays of self-expression for more subtle ones.

“People are dressing purposefully, using bold and tailored pieces to make everyday routines feel special,” says Dool, shouting out specific styles like military jackets, structured blazers, metallic skirts, statement jewelry, and kitten heels.

Lyn expects "more structured basics to also have a moment this year, whether it’s shoulder pads or intentional tapering to accentuate the body, as a fun and easy way to spice up an outfit without doing too much."

Voyer adds “cowl plunge tops” and “cape tops" to that list, noting that Heuirtech has observed that both styles have steadily grown in popularity over the years, particularly among people aged 16 to 25, and will continue to surge in the next 12 months.

Curated Hodgepodge

Sofia Richie Grainge’s flavor of quiet luxury used to have a firm hold on Gen Z, but the less-is-best approach has officially lost its luster. Among her fellow Zoomers, Kim has observed “a fatigue of neutrals and a craving for things that jolt us from the slop" and "people resonating with craftier, playful styles.” She pinpoints intricate textures and embellishments, such as boas, fringe, and tassels, as coming strongly into play. Personally inspired by Dries Van Noten’s Fall 2025 show, with its ornate, colorful tassels as decorative touches, Kim is now wearing her college graduation honor cords as accessories.

Lyn sees this movement towards handmade touches and textiles as a rejection of TikTok’s favorite “clean girl aesthetic”. “I think the idea of being the perfect, productive, Pilates princess is finally being let go this year,” she says. “Don’t get me wrong—if that's your life and it works for you, that’s great. But I appreciate the sentiment that we each have our own method to our madness, and nobody is perfect.”

In 2024, Bella Hadid carried Coach's Brooklyn to It-Bag status, one street style look at a time. This year, the model is revisiting another one of the brand's hit styles: the Coach Tabby.

Hadid marked her first Coach-clad outing since Sept. 2025 at a dinner with friends in L.A. on January 12. She dressed as casually as possible in a nude Valentino long-sleeve, indigo dark-wash jeans, and pointy Jimmy Choo pumps, which exuded an elevated equestrian charm. She let her bra straps peek out from beneath her boat-neck top—a styling move we saw on the Spring 2026 runways of brands like Magda Butrym, Vivienne Westwood, and Givenchy.

Hadid's leather jacket remained off, as to not steal the show from her Coach Tabby 26 bag. The brand offers the single-strap shoulder style—with its famous center "C" closure—in Black, Pecan, Zebra, and Maple; Hadid chose the latter burgundy shade. She swapped the short strap for an elongated, slightly thicker crossbody.

Clearly, the Tabby found a fan in Hadid: Last September, the 26 made its debut on her arm during Paris Fashion Week. The cool-toned distressed finish gave the $495 bag a nostalgic, straight-out-of-the '70s look. The exact style sold out within days, but it's still shoppable in non-loved leather.

Hadid has long been a bona fide Coach girl. For a while, she preferred the viral Brooklyn tote, having welcomed two versatile shades to her bag collection. But she hasn't publicly worn the $495 style since Aug. 2024, though. Last year, she preferred more compact picks, including the Saint Laurent Icarino, the Jacquemus Turismo, and the Coach Tabby. Coach's Mini Bag catalog is still stocked, should Hadid be in the market for even smaller styles in 2026.

It’s a shared dilemma for professional women: I need a new work bag. Thus begins my hunt for a laptop bag that’s as functional as it is elegant and can handle my nine-to-five (fashion editing at Marie Claire) and five-to-nine (running around New York City to events, dinners, and the occasional yoga class) in tandem.

The first stop on my quest is Nordstrom’s Early Black Friday Sale, which runs now through November 19. On the eve of my thirteenth birthday, my mom handed me a dainty box containing what would become my most prized possession: my very first Coach bag. It was a patent-leather cherry red confection, and I carried it to every event on my social calendar from that point onward. In fact, I still own it.

My collection of It bags from the New York label has grown a lot since then, but one thing hasn't changed: Coach still makes excellent gifts in 2025.

The brand introduced its latest collection with an Elle Fanning-fronted campaign earlier this week, and it's filled with must-haves, from refreshed suede and leather iterations of the still-viral Brooklyn Bag to a (chicly) worn-in looking version of the classic Tabby Bag already beloved by Bella Hadid. These sit next to cozy-feeling shearling-lined and shimmery styles perfect for gifting or for carrying to your next holiday party.

If you were to pass me on the street, you would probably notice my overfilled bag first. I have been known to schlep around a massive tote bag at all times, jammed to the brim with my laptop and just about every other knick-knack I've deemed a daily essential. Ludicrously capacious bags are kind of my thing—and they can be yours, too.

I've scoured the interwebs to find the best tote bags that work for just about any occasion, lifestyle, and budget. These run the gamut from affordable designer finds crafted from leather and suede to vetted picks from brands already adored by editors and insiders—think: Coach, Longchamp, and Cos. We've got work bags that can easily double as chic weekenders,everyday carry-alls that make day-off errands a breeze, and much more.

She may be known for vintage-inspired dresses and princess-y pastels, but Elle Fanning has a ready-to-wear-everything attitude. "I'll try anything if it doesn't wear me," the actress tells me over the phone from London, where she's just touched down for press surrounding the latest installment in the Predator sci-fi franchise. "I always try to be pretty experimental. I don't like to get too stuck in my ways when it comes to fashion."

Fanning and her longtime stylist, Samantha McMillen, live up to that ideal even when they're pulling looks from a single designer rack. Coach has been Fanning's go-to designer for bags and head-to-toe looks of late, but none look exactly the same. (She's been a brand ambassador since 2024.) She attended the Cannes Film Festival in a wispy teal chiffon dress and a coordinating Tabby bag this summer; by the time Coach's Spring 2026 fashion show rolled around in September, she'd sample a denim military jacket and extra-long jeans. Some celebrities find a single mood and run with it, but not her.

"I'm a different girl each day," she explains.

Fanning gets into the up-for-anything spirit in her latest Coach campaign, "The Gift for New Adventures." She sets off on a holiday train ride escapade with co-stars Charles Melton and Griff, in an outfit she'd easily copy and paste back into her real-life wardrobe. Specifically: an extra oversize teddy coat ("I love a big coat," she emphasizes) and a variation of the Tabby bag she's been snapped carrying on the streets of New York City and London lately.

Like dozens of other celebrities in her orbit, Fanning has a few Coach favorites she keeps in constant rotation. (The Tabby bag, Brooklyn bag, and Soho sneakers have prime placement in her closet.) But she understands that, sometimes, her job calls for a style switch-up, accessories included.

"[It's] not necessarily method dressing, but there is something to when you're promoting a movie, you do want to look right for that film," she says. "There's a certain vibe, like the character does spill over."

Right now, her custom looks are taking an "edgier" turn in the run-up to Predator: Badlands, compared to past red carpet greatest hits. (See, for example, the dreamy 1960s-inspired dresses she wore promoting A Complete Unknown last year.) "The whole film, I'm a robot, but I wear a white leather jacket, which is perfect for Coach," she explains.

For the sci-fi feature's London premiere, she traded a traditional gown for a two-piece maxi skirt set, with a jacket matching her character's layered over the top. "I would say that's a new adventure, taking some fashion risks in that world," she says. "It's shying away, maybe, from the princess vibe, even though it's always there underneath." She might turn back in that direction when her father-daughters dramedy, Sentimental Value, commences its awards season campaign.

A lunch date with Coach creative director Stuart Vevers set the tone for Fanning's current slate of red carpets. The more the pair got to know each other, the more potential for future style trials they uncovered.

"I think that's really special—not all designers do that," she explains. "So I feel like I have a real like personal relationship with him, which is so nice. And to say that he knows my style, he knows my personality, he knows my vibe— that's important." In other words: When Fanning branches out to a red carpet leather jacket, it still manages to feel like her.

Fanning already has new custom Coach looks in the works—but she can't say how much more of an "experiment" they'll be, aesthetically speaking. "I'm always cooking up ideas and trying to imagine fantasy sketches," she teases. "And Stuart has such amazing imagination, so we do that together."

The only hint she can drop is this: "There's some looks to come soon. Maybe before this is even out."
