The rapper is a member of the Host Committee for the 2026 Met Gala, so, of course, she is one of the evening's VIPs. The theme of the evening is "Costume Art," which pays homage to the intersection of fashion and history and is also the name of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's spring exhibition. Of course, the rapper is on theme with a gown that is a stunning work of structural, latex-inspired art, and that is also so nude that it almost blends into her skin, courtesy of Saint Laurent. That being said, her eye look is the star of her glam, featuring a razor-sharp wing and immaculate cut crease.

Her makeup was done by longtime artist Ivan Núñez using M.A.C. Cosmetics. The look was a peach-toned dream, with the punchy shade sheered out on her cheeks to blend easily into her bronzer. She also wore a lip color and eyeshadow with the coolest graphic winged liner in the same color palette, keeping on theme with her monochromatic fashion moment. If there's one person I can expect to wow me with a Met Gala appearance, it's Doja Cat. The singer just stepped foot onto the red carpet at the iconic event and, just as I expected, her ensemble did not disappoint.

Doja Cat is serving as a committee member of this year’s Gala (alongside Sabrina Carpenter and Teyana Taylor), so she arrived ahead of many of her buzzy, A-lister friends. The theme, as Vogue reported back in November, is “Costume Art,” and celebrates the art exhibition of the same name—the first exhibition in the Costume Institute’s first permanent galleries at the iconic museum.

Fresh off a stop on her world tour, the "Say So" singer was first spotted leaving the storied Carlyle hotel in Manhattan wearing a skin-toned silicone dress with an exaggerated shawl collar and gold detailing on the shoulder.

She arrived on the steps moments later in the same show-stopping frock—a change-up from her multiple looks last year, but more on that later—custom-made for her by Saint Laurent. She worked with longtime stylist Brett Alan Nelson to craft the look.

The songstress has never gone subtle with her Met Gala beauty looks—who can forget she showed up dressed as Karl Lagerfeld's cat, Choupette, back in 2023?—but tonight's look offered something different. She opted for long, honey-blonde tresses this time around, which flowed down to her mid-back. Her glam was equally fierce, if subdued. A smoky eye, a skintone-nude lip (which feels very early aughts-inspired, in my opinion), and bronzed, dewy skin.

While I love tonight's entry onto my list of the best-ever Doja Cat style moments, it's hard not to gush about her previous Met Gala get-ups. She kickstarted her maximalist era by donning a custom Marc Jacobs bodysuit, complete with structural, suit-inspired pin-striped details and a leopard bodice. Sheer black tights and a stiletto'd version of Jacobs's iconic Kiki Boots completed the look.

Then there was her aforementioned Choupette-inspired look, designed for her by Oscar de la Renta. It playfully winked at that evening's theme, "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," which posthumously honored the legendary designer. A dramatic, backless, feathered mermaid gown was only the beginning. Prosthetics were used to give her a feline appearance, and her hair was tucked neatly underneath an ear-adorned hood.

One year later, she stuck to the all-white vibe but took it to another level entirely. In 2024, the theme was Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and her approach was a little different from that of the rest of the evening's attendees. She was spotted leaving her hotel in a white mini towel dress, causing Marie Claire's fashion features editor Emma Childs to ponder: Is Doja Cat's official Met Gala 2025 look a...towel?

Moments later, the towel mini turned out to be an Easter egg for the singer's actual red carpet look: a white, maxi Vetements gown that looked drenched. It was inspired by a sleep shirt, cementing her cool-girl status.

Doja Cat knows how to commit to a theme better than anyone. The rapper has been experimenting with an '80s-style pop sound for the last several months ahead of her album release, and with a new era comes some pretty drastic changes in the beauty and fashion departments as well.

On the heels of the release of her most recent album, Vie, Doja Cat appeared on the Oct. 1 broadcast of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she spoke about her new music and later helped co-host as a guest. To really get into character, she wore a long-sleeve gray blouse with wide shoulders along with sparkly gray tights, lavender gloves, and gray pumps. Her hair and makeup was also reflective of her new era, as she wore thin eyebrows, bright pink blush on her cheeks, red lipstick, and purple eyeshadow. She also wore a brown wig that was cut into a mullet with thin bangs and slightly bumped ends.

At one point, she cut her natural hair into a fade and bleached it, but she's played around with wigs in a variety of colors and lengths since then—she even wore another shaggy, platinum blonde mullet while performing at Outside Lands back in August.

The rapper/singer is gearing up to release her '80s-inspired fifth studio album, Vie, and for the last several weeks as she's been promoting it, she's been in full character, wearing everything from a platinum blonde mullet to last night's look, a voluminous, creamy blonde blowout with feathery bangs. She brought the whole look together with thin eyebrows, bright nails, and a deep red lip.

While doing press on the red carpet, Doja Cat decided to give her lipstick a little touch up—but she wouldn't be Doja Cat if she had just let the moment end there. She took things a step further and took a bite out of the lipstick (and swallowed it!) in front of the cameras.

Thankfully, Doja Cat wasn't eating the lipstick because she was in desperate need of a snack—it was actually a stunt to draw attention to the fact that she's recently been named an ambassador for MAC Cosmetics, and she was wearing the brand's MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick in the shade "Lady Danger."

“I’ve been a MAC girl forever, and now I get to take that love to the global stage,” she said in a statement. “Makeup is my paint, my armor, my way of creating characters—and MAC has always stood for that kind of artistry and freedom. We’re going to push it even further and make people see beauty in a whole new way.” In the same statement, MAC also revealed that the lipstick was actually an edible chocolate replica of "Lady Danger" made by pastry chef Amaury Guichon, which is great news for me, since I was horrified at the thought of how a waxy lipstick would've settled in her stomach if she actually ate the real thing.

Doja Cat is my favorite celebrity on any given red carpet for one reason and one reason only—the drama. Whether she's at the Met Gala or the Oscars, the singer brings her sartorial A-game every single time. She took the step-and-repeat in a Balmain runway look from 2024. Embracing 1980s glamour, the pop star sported a pastel checked mini dress with a low, low neckline. The number was encrusted with intricate fuchsia crystallization.

Leaning into the theatrics of it all, Doja went with an overlarge '80s-stlye blow-out and novelty accessories. She carried a jewel-covered lipstick clutch (which matched her cherry red lip and long coffin nails) and slipped into a pair of butter yellow pleaser heels. The final touch were a pair of diamond-encrusted Chopard earrings that dangled to her shoulders.

Though the look was dramatic on all accounts, it was uncharacteristically demure. In 2023, for example, the "Paint the Town Red" singer went nearly-naked—a theme amongst many of her red carpet looks styled by Brett Alan Nelson. For that particular VMAs appearance, she wore a sheer dress made from cobweb-inspired thread.

She always brings the drama—and I love her for it.

Doja Cat's most recent performance look may have just confirmed the sneaking suspicion I have that her next musical era will be inspired by 1980s pop. The rapper performed at Outside Lands in San Francisco over the weekend, and she appears to have channeled pop and rock stars of the '80s for the look she wore during her set, which featured a waist-length platinum blonde wig that was (obviously) teased to the heavens and cut into a mullet hairstyle.

Doja's hair was styled by her longtime hairstylist JStayReady, who's also worked with other stars like Lizzo, Kelly Rowland, and Victoria Monet. The wig featured short pieces that framed her face almost like a feathered bang at the front of her head that then melted into longer hair to create a messy look towards the back.

To add even more of a retro vibe, her makeup for the night featured bright pink blush on her cheeks and temples, thin brows, the pointiest cat-eye I've ever seen, and a deep red lip. Her nails were also painted bright red with a square shape.

The whole look was pulled together by Doja's costume, which was a black and white, zebra-striped two-piece set that featured high waist bottoms with a v-cut and a cropped top with shoulder pads. She accessorized with two studded belts across her waist, a studded black choker, and earrings.

Doja Cat's ability to experiment and switch things up never ceases to amaze me. It's clear that her hairstyle of choice for Outside Lands was a wig, but that doesn't make me any less obsessed with how the shag looks on her.

Retro shaggy cuts have been trending all year, with experts saying that the messy look is the perfect blend of low-maintenance and cool. Selena Gomez debuted a short-lived wolf haircut back in June just months after Reneé Rapp revealed her new cut in photos from her L'Oreal campaign. Even from a distance, the Grammy winner's fashion-forward footwear stole the show. With help from Doja's stylist, Brett Alan Nelson, Adidas took their signature Sambas back to the drawing board, creating a sneaker-stiletto hybrid for her mid-air performance.

Instead of the Sambas' signature round uppers and gum-sole heels, the "Say So" singer sported pointy toes and slingbacks, alongside ankle straps and short kitten heels suitable for dancing. The reimagined white sneakers were just as slim as the Sambas in your closet, complete with triple red stripes along each sidewall. Doja paired them with knee-high Adidas socks to match her backup dancers.

As a leading sponsor of the FIFA World Cup, Adidas provided the halftime performer with her entire ensemble, not just her dancing heels. Doja's custom micro-mini dress remixed the traditional football jersey, with stripes created from thousands of red and purple Swarovski crystals. Her upcoming album title, Vie, was printed across her chest instead of a team logo. To finish, Adidas's triple stripes cascaded down the dress's sides, just like her stiletto Sambas.

Doja Cat has yet to publicly give regular Sambas a go, however, the retro-inspired sneakers are still dominating the style scene. In the wardrobes of Sophie Turner, Anne Hathaway, Olivia Rodrigo, Dakota Johnson, and Hailey Bieber (to name a few), the Sambas streak is continuing for the third straight year.

It's unclear whether Adidas will release the sneaker-stilettos that Doja Cat wore onstage. If sneakerheads make enough online chatter, it might just happen.
