At the top of the year, experts predicted that soft blonde hair would become one 2026's biggest color trends. “Warmth isn’t going anywhere—it’s just shifting,” celebrity hairstylist Devante Turnbull previously told MC. “Those buttery tones are mellowing into more neutral ‘toasted’ shades. Think creamy beige instead of yellow-gold. People still want brightness, just in a softer, more wearable way that doesn’t scream 'summer blonde.'"

For Zendaya, being herself meant trading a custom mini dress for a minutes-old after-party look. Even Stone's accessories were simple, especially compared to Zendaya's engagement ring and diamond Tiffany & Co. earrings. Though her slightly-unbuttoned cardigan would've complemented a necklace nicely, Stone opted for itty-bitty stud earrings and the occasional gold ring instead.

The Bugonia actor let her Louis Vuitton bag do all the talking. She sourced the Fall 2026 fashion show for a trunk-inspired shoulder style, featuring a monogram base layer, chestnut-colored corner guards, and lighter red-trimmed handles. Stone's exact Trunk PM won't be shoppable until at least September, when the atelier's Fall 2026 line hits stores. Similar styles would set you back upwards of $3,700 right now.

It's not surprising Stone put comfort first in Louis Vuitton's front-row. Tonight, the actor is nominated for Best Picture and Best Actress for her lead role in Bugonia. Naturally, her 2026 Oscars look was Emma-coded through and through. Stone walked the annual red carpet in a cap-sleeve gown with a low-cut neckline and an even lower back.

The dress—a custom Louis Vuitton creation—was the picture of understated elegance, covered in tens of thousands of shimmering pearlescent beads.

Stone has already attended several high-profile red carpets this year and has remained loyal to her styling rules on each and every one of them. After spending the last year giving us all a masterclass on how to grow a pixie cut (the one that she debuted at last year's Golden Globe Awards), Stone is now officially a citizen of bob-land, and her jaw-length hair was styled with a mini flip at the ends and a deep side part.

"For the Oscars, I wanted a '90s blowout with soft movement in Emma’s bob, keeping it feeling fresh, modern, and full," Roszak said in a statement. "The look was polished but effortless—soft volume, subtle bend, natural volume and subtly brushed through."

Bobs are already popping up everywhere on the red carpet tonight, which isn't shocking considering it's been the hairstyle of choice among women in Hollywood throughout the last year. Black-ish alum, Marsai Martin, showed up tonight wearing a lightly tousled, angular bob while Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine arrived wearing a chin-length, flippy bob. Isabela Merced also appeared with her hair styled in an edgy, chin-length bob with a blunt bang, proof of just how versatile the cut really is. “Clients are loving it because it feels fresh, chic, and easy to personalize,” hairstylist Juan Flores previously told MC about the bob.

Stone, who was nominated for Best Actress for her role in Bugonia, attended the awards ceremony wearing a navy blue, backless, halter neck Louis Vuitton gown with a large, teardrop-shaped cutout in her torso area. Shortly after the ceremony, Stone's longtime hairstylist, Mara Roszak, took to Instagram to share a series of behind-the-scenes photos and videos taken before the actor walked the red carpet, describing her hairstyle for the night as a "'90s twist." She likely made the '90s reference because the French twist was a wildly popular updo hairstyle in the late 1990s, though it's been making a huge comeback on red carpets in the last few years.

It involves simply twisting the hair up into a vertical shape at the back of the head before it's pinned in place, and even though Stone's hairstyle includes a few pieces left out at the front, it can also be given a sleek finish. Per fellow celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan's comment on Instagram, all Stone's retro hairstyle was missing was a zig-zag part.

You may recognize the sheer lace bodice on Kravitz's after-party look—that's because stylist Danielle Goldberg outfitted her in the mini version of her boudoir-inspired, Saint Laurent red carpet gown. Even her button-back Jessica McCormack earrings and Saint Laurent mules remained the same. The only difference? Kravitz's first slip's yellow waist ribbon was nowhere to be found.

Tessa Thompson

Karla Welch styled Tessa Thompson in Balenciaga for both the Golden Globes ceremony and after parties. She changed into a leather little black dress with a curved feather hem (inspired by Pierpaolo Piccioli's debut collection) for the latter.

Elle and Dakota Fanning

Elle and Dakota Fanning walked the Golden Globes red carpet separately, but they were side by side on the after-party scene. Perhaps they changed looks in the same stretcher van—they do share a stylist in Samantha McMillen, after all. Elle led the way into Morgan's L.A. party wearing a plunging black dress, while Dakota followed closely behind in a pink, feather-lined gown.

Teyana Taylor

Teyana Taylor was all smiles after winning her first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture. Her custom Schiaparelli gown—in all its exposed thong glory—peeked out from beneath a graffiti-inspired coat from Satoshi Nakamoto. Her bright red slippers looked spray-painted, too.

Blackpink's Lisa switched dresses twice at the 2026 Golden Globes—first from a sheer Jacquemus number into a Thom Brown Spring 2026 select to present the award for Best Male Actor—Television. Once the broadcast wrapped, she traded that for a naked Enfants Riches Déprimés dress, featuring an opaque bow at the neckline and a contrasting waistline, which added dimension.

Ana de Armas

Similar to Kravitz, Ana de Armas attended Morgan's affair in a flirtier version of her Golden Globes red carpet look: a Louis Vuitton maxi made up of entirely transparent lace. She carried the brand's Malle Bag boasting the famous Monogram print, just like her double LV gym bags from last week.

Chopra Jonas revived the red carpet corset trend at Glaser's invite-only event. Hers was delicately draped beneath a gray cowl neck and matching waistband.

With a red carpet gown that naked, fans expected J.Lo to go even sultrier for the Golden Globes after parties, but she went the rhinestone route instead. A Tamara Ralph Fall 2025 Haute Couture gown caught stylists' Mariel Haenn and Rob Zangardi eyes on the runway, presumably for its hand-beaded bodice and fringed bust.

She kept her signature copper red color intact and added slight waves toward the front of her head, giving the look tons of extra volume to frame her face perfectly (which it did). She wrapped everything up with a short, square manicure, opting for a translucent pink color that showed a bit of her natural nail beneath.

Jenna Ortega's gothic Dilara Findikoglu dress, with side peek-a-boo panels and beaded fringe, and Jennifer Lawrence's Givenchy naked dress were also among the evening's highlights.

Lastly, let's hear it for the boys: Heated Rivalry stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams made quite the commotion in sharp Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani suits, respectively. Chalamet showed up in custom Chrome Hearts and an unexpected plus-one that wasn't Kylie Jenner: a teeny-tiny mustache. (Jenner bypassed the red carpet and later joined the Marty Supreme star during the ceremony.)

You know you've made it in Hollywood when Louis Vuitton throws a pre-award season dinner in your honor. Such was the case for 2026 Golden Globes nominee Emma Stone, who executed the Louis Vuitton-driven dress code with ease.

Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière welcomed a few additional Louis Vuitton lovers (and award show front-runners) Elle Fanning, Chase Infiniti, and Teyana Taylor to the Beverly Hills affair held on January 8. The guests of honor all helped themselves to Ghesquière's Spring 2026 collection. Stone, for her part, chose Look 33 and a best-selling Louis Vuitton monogram bag.

Her matching set's stark white color story channeled spring styling to a T. However, the turtleneck and wide-leg trousers winterized the shade with ease. A soft satin sheen glossed over the high-neck blouse, which mirrored the look of a button-down worn backwards. She tucked it into matching oversize pants, which peeked out from beneath a $7,500 take on the scarf coat trend. Blink and you'll miss Stone's Louis Vuitton It-Bag beneath the wrap's oversize lapels.

While posing with other guests, Stone's Louis Vuitton bag got a proper close-up. She chose the $3,700 Alma Trunk PM: a zip-top, circa-Fall 2018 tote, which could be carried via top-handle or chainlink strap. The Alma's dome-shaped center dates back to the 1930s, while the center padlock and metallic gold corners are new additions.

Brown monogram canvas covered the entire main compartment, making it the perfect tribute to the pattern's 130th anniversary. It's the latest monogram handbag to join Stone's collection, following last summer's Express PM and CarryAll Vibe MM.

Stone's Alma was noticeably absent from the Spring 2026 catwalk. On the runway, structured trunks, bucket bags, and itty-bitty clutches reigned supreme. Ghesquière accessorized Stone's exact two-piece with a never-before-seen shoulder bag-turned-clutch. A floral white, blue, and pink print decorated its east-west exterior in lieu of Louis Vuitton's classic monogram. Zoom in to see the 130-year-old pattern still made the cut, but beneath the botanical overlay.

On August 26, Emma Stone proved my point with two Louis Vuitton bags and an end-of-summer sandal trend. (Hint: It's a Jennifer Lawrence staple.)

Mere minutes after her flight landed in Italy, Stone was snapped by the paparazzi in her airport-friendly outfit. She split her travel essentials between two Louis Vuitton carry-ons, starting with the miniature Express PM circa Fall 2025. The slouchy $4,200 shoulder bag launched globally on August 1, drawing inspiration from the label's signature Keepall duffle.

Stone also carried the CarryAll Vibe MM, to safely secure larger items—possibly a laptop or some Louis Vuitton jewels. The $4,050 Spring/Summer 2024 style mirrors the Express's drooping center, except in ultra-soft lambskin, not calfskin leather. Both bags feature brown monogrammed shoulder straps, though the CarryAll's is slightly thicker.

Now, onto the rest of Stone's separates, which blended summer and fall 2025 trends with ease. First, she tapped into fall's rising indigo denim trend with wide-leg jeans. On top, her sheer black long-sleeve made a case for the V-neck's comeback. A plain white tee peeked out from underneath.

Her toe-ring sandals, on the other hand, were a summer staple straight out of Lawrence's closet. Similar to her Manolo Blahniks, a brown leather strap wrapped around Stone's big toe, as any circa-2000s toe ring would. Given Stone and Lawrence are friends, I wouldn't be shocked if Stone chose the same $865 Susa sandals. Perhaps J.Law put her onto them during their last girls' night out.

Stone's film, Bugonia, doesn't premiere at the Venice Film Festival until August 28, so expect lots of street style looks in the meantime. Judging by Stone's double Louis Vuitton bags, the French label is her rotation's reigning atelier, just like her 2018 appearance.

The Venice Film Festival has been noticeably Emma Stone-less since 2018. But this week, the A-lister and her designer-packed suitcases (presumably from Louis Vuitton) are jetting to Venice ahead of her sci-fi film Bugonoia's premiere on August 28.

If Stone's return is even remotely as grand as her most recent Venice Film Festival, her step-and-repeats will spotlight the best of Louis Vuitton. Back in August 2018, her brand ambassadorship was merely months old—even so, she had first dibs on the Resort 2019 collection.

Fresh off the gondola, The Favourite actor was decked in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, including a striped bodice, white shorts, and even LV pumps. The next day, stylist Petra Flannery selected another Resort find for Stone: a custom recreation of Look 53. Instead of wearing the sheer illusion style as a cape, the Oscar winner transformed it into a gown.

This year, Stone and Flannery are back for their fourth Venice Film Festival together, primed with their pick of Louis Vuitton's runways. In 2025 alone, creative director Nicolas Ghesquière dressed Stone for the Oscars, Cannes Film Festival, and Vogue's entire September spread. All this to say? I'm anticipating standout styles from the brand's latest lines. Fall 2025's Look 49 and its lingerie-inspired lace feel right up Stone's classically feminine alley.

Flirty mini dresses dominated Stone's La La Land press tour, so of course one made it in her VFF suitcase. She chose a green Giambattista Valli mini with three-quarter-length sleeves and a high neckline. The entire thigh-length number featured pink floral embroidery.

In a sea of summery styles, Stone's knitted ankle-length dress leaned surprisingly autumnal. The black, burgundy, and cream-colored maxi hailed from Peter Pilotto Resort 2017. Even her brown Jimmy Choos looked straight out of her fall wardrobe.

For the La La Land premiere, a.k.a. the grand finale, Stone and Flannery tapped Versace Fall 2016 for a fringed silver gown. The most headline-worthy accents? Its sleek turtleneck and complementary paneling.

On behalf of The Favourite in 2018, Stone and Flannery curated four top-tier outfits, most with Louis Vuitton tags. First, she styled a striped blouse with white high-rise shorts, both from the label's Resort 2019 collection. Even her pointy pumps were from Louis Vuitton.

Always on board for a quirky color combo, Stone pulled off a pastel pink blouse with a sky blue midi skirt. Her sky-high heels included contrasting ankle straps. Zoom in and you'll see the brown monogram belongs to Louis Vuitton, of course.

For The Favourite's official photo-call, Stone got her hands on Look 40 out of the 59-piece Resort line. She coupled the shoulder-padded long-sleeve with the matching wrap skirt—minus the leather bomber jacket and a bucket bag. Instead of the model's chunky sneakers, Stone slipped on floral pumps from Louis Vuitton.

For her final Venice Film Festival apperarance, Stone left it all on the red carpet in Louis Vuitton. With help from Ghesquière, she transformed a sheer Resort 2019 cape into a plunging gown. It spotlighted the same embroidered neckline and bedazzled bodice, without the neon pink separates underneath.

Emma Stone is definitely not running out of ways to style her short hair. If you can recall, Stone debuted a dramatic pixie cut back in January, when she appeared at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, and five months later, she's proving exactly why her cut is one of my favorite major haircuts of the year.

The actress stepped out at the Los Angeles premiere of Eddington on June 25 wearing a slightly grown out version of the cut, which was styled in soft curls and wispy bangs around her hairline that really made her look like a modern fairy. Stone's longtime hairstylist, Mara Roszak, shared a closeup video of the actress's hair to Instagram following the event, referring to the style as a "whimsy pixie" in the caption.

Short hair gets a pretty bad rap for being incredibly difficult to style—especially as the hair begins to grow out—but that hasn't stopped the pixie cut from continuing to trend in recent years. While the blunt bob practically took over Hollywood this past spring, several hairstylists have agreed that the pixie cut will also be having a major moment in 2025, with other celebrities like Tyla, Renée Zellweger, and Law Roach debuting their versions of the style at previous events.

“It’s so freeing and cuts down the styling time and amount of products you need to use,” hairstylist Sophie Gutterman told Marie Claire previously.

The independent entertainment company only takes on projects with a twist—like the anti-rom-com Materialists, the frightening folktale Midsommar, and Euphoria (which needs no introduction). So, for Eddington, Emma Stone's next A24 film, the star is channeling the brand's unconventional ambience through her press tour style.

Once I took note of the supermodel's unseasonal little black dress for a May 28 event (courtesy of Saint Laurent, of course), it hit me: She's not the only A-lister to break tradition and stave off white dresses this season. Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, and even Taylor Swift are all actively anti-LWD.

This time last year, white dresses dominated celebrities' closets, as I expected. Fast forward 365 days, and they're erased from my Instagram timeline. Instead, celebrities have discovered near-infinite ways to make LBDs work year-round. The solution? Shorter hems, lightweight fabrics, and plunging necklines. Some stars are even taking the trend a step further and going the matching skirt set route. And just like that, I'm fully convinced to swap my ivory minis for their sultry older sisters.

The more celebrities commit to a warm-weather black dress, the more I'm convinced these looks are too divine to disappear for an entire season. Just hours after e.l.f. announced it officially acquired Bieber's eponymous skincare label, Rhode, for $1 billion, the founder celebrated the news in L.A. She looked like a billion bucks in a Saint Laurent mini dress—a fitting selection for the brand ambassador.

Bieber's strapless design was custom (surprise, surprise). But lucky for me, there are similar micro-mini styles on the market. I popped on my highest heels, oval-shaped sunglasses, and voilà: my Bieber-core combo was complete.

Taylor Swift's Little Black Matching Set

Swift's nights out in New York are some of the year's most stylish soirées—whether or not her celebrity friends are on the guest list. On May 31, the Grammy winner grabbed dinner at Midtown's Monkey Bar with her close pal Selena Gomez. The Rare Beauty founder went with a monochrome Ulla Johnson suit. Then, Swift followed her lead in all-black attire. She wore head-to-toe Gucci, including a bejeweled skirt set. Minutes after the photos dropped, the two-piece sold out. So, I shopped these LBDs instead.

Jennifer Lawrence's Semi-Sheer Black Dress

Even though I'm infatuated by the sheer trend, I haven't given it a go myself yet. That's about to change, thanks to Lawrence's recent LBD.

On May 2, the Hunger Games alum was spotted in New York wearing Lemaire's transparent column dress. Complete with short sleeves, sheer viscose, and slits up each leg, the style was practically made with summer weather in mind. She accessorized it with a $30,000 The Row bag, but my trusty Aupen purse will do.

Rihanna's Fringe Black Dress

Off the red carpet at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, Rihanna ditched French Riviera fashion for a laidback LBD. Her fringe-embellished Khaite dress immediately earned a spot on my summer mood board. Once it was time to style it, I channeled my inner RiRi with naked shoes and Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Miley Cyrus's Ruched Black Dress

If my younger self could see me now, she'd be glad to learn Cyrus is still my fashion blueprint. My new favorite look of hers? A smocked mini dress from Saint Laurent. Who says tweed is reserved for the winter months? Pamela Anderson just proved the charming fabric deserves a spot in my current rotation. The Last Showgirl star paired her Marc Jacobs LBD with sheer tights and pointy pumps, but I plan to summer-ify it with strappy sandals. I might even add a sun hat, if I'm feeling flirty.

Last Thursday, it was Jennifer Lawrence in a four-figure leather coat. Then, on Sunday, Dakota Johnson was spotted wearing a graphic tee from the kid's section. And just yesterday, Emma Stone stepped out dressed a costly 'fit of her own—one that deserves a second look.

On April 9, the Poor Things actor went out for dinner with her best friend and fellow The Row fan, Jennifer Lawrence. She chose to sport Alaïa and Fendi for the occasion, leaving Stone to carry The Row's torch—and she rose magnificently to the challenge.

Stone channeled the brand's aesthetic to a T, debuting an understated look with a panic-inducing price tag. She wore black from head to toe, pairing up The Row's $1,550 Ophelia Sweater with a matching micro mini skirt.

Her accessories—a leather tote bag, sheer tights, and fringe Celine loafers—were all from the same color family. This left Stone's camel-colored suede jacket (not unlike the one Selena Gomez wore the day before) to act as the lone color pop of her otherwise monochromatic look.

The two wore basically wearing the same look, but in very different fonts (I'm talking Helvetica vs. Comic Sans). Both wore all-black basics, styled with outsized handbags and a statement jacket in a contrasting color. In terms of footwear, however, they couldn't have chosen more differently. Lawrence sported leopard-spotted flats while Stone wore chunky loafers. Even so, these two friends have mastered the art of couples dressing.

Emma Stone looked like a gorgeous fish on the 2025 Oscars red carpet. Styled by her frequent Oscars red carpet fashion collaborator Petra Flannery, the 36-year-old channeled 1920s minimalism in a custom Louis Vuitton gown covered in iridescent nude scales to present the evening's Best Actress award to the 97th Annual Academy Award nominees. She accessorized the dress—which was crafted using a new fabrication technique dreamt up by creative director Nicolas Ghesquière—with cascading diamond drop earrings and strappy ivory sandals.

As for her glam, Stone tapped hairstylist Mara Rozsak to set her auburn pixie haircut in glossy 1920s finger waves. Makeup artist Rachel Goodwin topped off the sultry ensemble with black winged eyeliner and cherubic pink blush.

Stone has attended the Oscars six times and already won Best Actress twice. Both times, she chose a gown that subtly alluded to her nominated film. In 2024, when she won the award for her portrayal of Bella Baxter in Yorgos Lanthimos' Poor Things, she mimicked the character's pastel color palette and love of baroque silhouettes into a mint-colored Louis Vuitton peplum dress. Crafted from silk cloqué jacquard and embossed with a shell pattern, the gown was accentuated by a 30.47-carat octagonal step-cut Sri Lankan sapphire set on a diamond choker necklace. At some point during the ceremony, though, the bodice of her strapless corset must have snapped. Because after winning the award, she took the stage with one hand pinching the back of her broken Louis Vuitton dress.

"Oh boy, my dress is broken. I think it happened during 'I'm Just Ken,' I'm pretty sure," she joked during her acceptance speech in a nod to her former La La Land co-star Ryan Gosling.

In 2017, whens he took home Best Actress for her leading role in La La Land, she method-dressed for the jazz-centric musical in a Givenchy Haute Couture tiered gold fringe column gown designed by Riccardo Tisci. Covered in gold Swarovski crystal embroidery and ombré crystal fringe, it would be one of the last things Tisci designed before departing the French fashion house. Stone accessorized the look with bronze satin sandals and a matching bronze clutch.

Emma Stone's red carpet style has become more and more experimental over time. She generally preferred to play it safe with gowns that evoked classic Hollywood glamour in her twenties. Now in her thirties, she seems far more eager to take risks. A funny girl at heart, The Favourite star knows fashion doesn't have to be so serious. I mean, she literally filled the pockets of her Louis Vuitton dress with popcorn at SNL's 50th anniversary celebration.

Emma Stone took method dressing to the next level at SNL50: The Anniversary Special on Sunday, Feb. 16. In honor of an episode filled with classic comedy characters and surprising guest stars, Stone brought the popcorn, quite literally.

Stone—who is styled by Petra Flannery—wore a red custom Louis Vuitton gown with a strappy halter neckline, a wrap skirt, which created a front leg slit, and oversize pockets. As well as posing with husband Dave McCary—a former SNL writer—Stone was seen mingling with a plethora of celebrities inside the event. One particularly funny photo showed the Easy A actress reunite with Superbad screenwriter Seth Rogen. Unsurprisingly, he found it impossible to resist Stone's popcorn offering.

Alongside Stone, SNL's 50th anniversary episode was attended by a multitude of celebrities. While none of them could boast having a Louis Vuitton popcorn dress, attendees pulled a variety of vintage and previously unseen outfits for the occasion.

Anya Taylor-Joy was photographed wearing a sculptural Mugler jacket, taken from the designer's Fall/Winter '95 RTW collection. The same jacket was previously seen on Kate Moss on the Mugler runway in Paris in 1995 (via CheckTheTag).

Other celebrities in attendance at SNL50 included Keke Palmer, wearing Tom Ford, Kim Kardashian in Balenciaga, Blake Lively, wearing Tamara Ralh FW24 Couture, and Jenna Ortega in Monse FW25 RTW.

This season of New York Fashion Week was basically a competition to see who could create the most interesting trench coat. Dozens of designers showed the classic style, indicating a mass khaki takeover in the near future. Audiences, however, told a different story. Fashionable attendees reached for leather duster jackets over their neutral counterparts—and Emma Stone was taking notes.

Though she skipped out on the typical front row appearances, Stone did touch down in NYC for a stylish romp of her own. She was spotted on Feb. 12, dressed all in black—the standard New Yorker uniform—and looking impossibly cool for a Bowery Ballroom concert hosted by Paul McCartney. She too, reached for the editor favorite outerwear, topping her noir look with a longline leather jacket.

Beyond that, Stone's black mini dress and matching opaque tights looked effortlessly chic. Leaning into the NYC of it all, Stone then topped her 'fit with a Williamsburg favorite, the chunky black beanie. In the footwear department, the Poor Things actor continued her leather kick, in a pair of knee-high boots (flat, naturally, for zooming past tourists on the sidewalk).

Her look was one I personally spotted almost daily at NYFW. Though Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner are all about cropped bomber jackets, the New York City editorial set is still very much partial to ankle-grazing styles. Throughout the week, I ran into several colleagues who were sporting vintage, patent leather, and studded takes. I even wore an animal print iteration myself.

This is all to say what Emma Stone has already learned: if you don't have one of these beauties hanging in your closet already, now would be a good time to change that.

Joe Alwyn's breakup with Taylor Swift luckily didn't cost him his friendship with Emma Stone—who is also super close with the popstar.

Alwyn spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the June 20 premiere for the new Yorgos Lanthimos movie, Kinds of Kindness, in which he stars alongside Stone, plus Margaret Qualley (another close pal of Swift's), Jesse Plemons, Hunter Schafer, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Mamoudou Athie, and Keke Palmer.

Reporter Rachel Smith quoted Stone as having called Alwyn "one of the sweetest people you could ever meet in the world," and asked him how he felt about his costar.

"I would say it back," he said. "I mean, yeah, I feel so lucky to be close to her, and she's the best. She's obviously wildly talented, and she's just the best."

Smith then asked Alwyn and Athie to settle the debate on whether they call the actress Emma or Emily, and they both agreed that it's Emily (this is her real name, and she has expressed a preference for it several times, FYI).

Alwyn has previously starred alongside Stone in another of Lanthimos' movies, The Favourite.

Taylor Swift, who was in a relationship with Alwyn for six years until their April 2023 breakup, has been besties with Stone since the late 2000s, with the Easy A star even having a writing credit on Swift's latest album The Tortured Poets Department. "When Emma Falls in Love" from Speak Now (Taylor's Version) is also widely believed to be about her.

As for Qualley, she's the wife of Swift's producer Jack Antonoff, with the three celebs often spending time together.

Alwyn reflected on his and Swift's high-profile breakup in a candid interview published over the weekend.

"I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years," he told the Sunday Times. "That is a hard thing to navigate. What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in."

Emma Stone's name is Emily, OK?

The Oscar-winning actress has been open about wanting to be known by her birth name in the past, so when a reporter called her Emily during a Cannes press conference, she was visibly thrilled.

This all took place while Stone was sitting on a panel with Kinds of Kindness director Yorgos Lanthimos, and her fellow cast members Hunter Schafer, Mamoudou Athie, Margaret Qualley, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Hong Chau, and Joe Alwyn.

A reporter from Kazakhstan said, "My questions go to Emily Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos, so Emily..."

The director corrected the journalist, "Emma," but the woman in question jumped in and said, "My name is Emily, thank you. Very nice."

This comes just weeks after Stone told The Hollywood Reporter that if a fan asked her to take a selfie by calling her Emily, "That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily." Her close friend Taylor Swift also credited her as "Emily Jean Stone" on her new album, which also seems to indicate her preference for being referred to by her birth name.

In case it's news to you that Emma Stone's name is not in fact Emma, she's always been open about this fact. She had to change it from Emily because there was already an Emily Stone in SAG-AFTRA, and no name can be taken twice within the union.

"Then I freaked out a couple of years ago," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "For some reason, I was like, 'I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.'"

Kinds of Kindness will be released on June 21, and is Stone's second collaboration with Lanthimos. She already starred in last year's Poor Things, for which she nabbed the Oscar for Best Actress. That film also starred Willem Dafoe, as well as Mark Ruffalo.

Working with Flannery, Stone has lately chosen Louis Vuitton to design her red carpet gowns for major events. At the Academy Awards in March, she worked with creative director Nicolas Ghesquière on a seafoam green, strapless peplum gown.

Last week, the woman we know as Emma Stone—you know, the two-time Best Actress Oscar winner—was credited on close friend Taylor Swift’s album credits as “Emily Jean Stone,” a contributor on the song “Florida!!!” from The Tortured Poets Department. If Stone has it her way, we’ll be referring to her by her given name, Emily, more often than not, telling The Hollywood Reporter “that would be so nice.”

Stone took on the stage name of Emma to launch her career, but prefers to use her real name when possible, especially with people she knows personally: “When I get to know them, people that I work with do [call me Emily],” she said. When The Hollywood Reporter asked if she’d correct a fan if they called her Emily, Stone responded, “No. That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily.”

The actress previously told Jimmy Fallon that she wanted to be called Emma growing up because she was a huge fan of Baby Spice—aka Emma Bunton—from the Spice Girls, Entertainment Weekly reports. She also told The Hollywood Reporter that she goes by Emma professionally because Emily Stone was already taken by another actor in SAG-AFTRA. “It’s just because my name was taken,” she said. “Then I freaked out a couple of years ago. For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.’”

Per Entertainment Weekly, “SAG-AFTRA rules stipulate that no member of the guild can have the same professional name as an existing member, which has caused numerous performers to adopt stage names when their birth names are already in use.” Examples? Michael Keaton, who couldn’t use his birth name of Michael Douglas when he joined SAG-AFTRA in the 1970s because another actor was using it, so he adopted a new stage name. Or Diane Keaton, whose birth name is Diane Hall—but there was another Diane Hall already taken, so she took her mother’s maiden name (also, very interesting that both Michael and Diane chose the same surname, unrelated). Elizabeth Banks, born Elizabeth Mitchell, ran into the same problem and had to adopt a stage moniker.

Taylor Swift has a history of tapping her famous friends to contribute to her music projects, and for the Tortured Poets Department, it's Emma Stone's turn for a collaboration. People reports that the two-time Oscar winner is credited on Swift's eleventh studio album, with the singer tapping Stone for the track "Florida!!!," which also features Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine.

In a clip for iHeartRadio, Swift said of the track, “‘Florida!!!’ is a song I wrote with Florence and the Machine, and I think I was coming up with this idea of like, what happens when your life doesn’t fit, or your choices you’ve made catch up to you." She added that she’s "always watching" Dateline and noticed how “people have these crimes that they commit, where do they immediately skip town and go to? They go to Florida.”

"I think when you go through a heartbreak, there’s a part of you that thinks: I want a new name, I want a new life, I don’t want anyone to know where I’ve been or know me at all," she continued. "So that was the jumping-off point behind where would you go to reinvent yourself and blend in? 'Florida!!!' "

It's not currently clear how Stone contributed to the track; a screenshot of the song's credits posted on X reads, "Oddities by Emily Jean Stone."

Stone and Swift's friendship can be traced all the way back to the late aughts, and the pals have supported each other's careers over the years, with the actress attending the singer's concerts (including the Eras Tour) and Swift popping up at Stone's movie premieres, most recently attending the Poor Things NYC premiere in December 2023.

While "Florida!!!" is Stone's first official credit, fans have long speculated that the Cruella star also served as inspiration for the Speak Now (Taylor's Version) vault track "When Emma Falls In Love." (The track is rumored to be about Stone’s relationship with Kieran Culkin, whom she dated from 2010 to 2011, per People.)

Stone herself was asked about the rumored connection while appearing on the Graham Norton show in earlier this year. However, she kept coy on the subject, merely saying, "You have to ask her."

Amid her Best Actress win and a wardrobe malfunction, Emma Stone had another attention-grabbing moment at the 2024 Oscars. The star gained notoriety on Sunday night when her reaction to Jimmy Kimmel's Poor Things joke went viral—and some fans are convinced she called the host a "prick."

After a quick montage of clips from the movie, Kimmel joked, "Those were all the parts of Poor Things we're allowed to show on TV." The Oscars' cameras cut to Stone just as she muttered a reaction to her husband, Dave McCary. And what she mouthed looked suspiciously like the word "prick."

Whatever Stone said to McCary, her side-eyed, skeptical look is unmistakable. It's possible she was in on the bit and just pretending to be annoyed—but it's also possible she was irritated about her film being reduced to its sexually explicit scenes. As for the film's sexual content, Stone discussed it with NPR's Fresh Air podcast, noting that American cinemagoers are often fine with seeing violence depicted on-screen, but not sex. "I didn't have that sort of freedom and acceptance in the same way around sexuality. But as time has gone on, I think that it's been very illuminating to me," Stone told podcast host Terry Gross.

In the end, Stone probably isn't too worried about the joke, no matter what she said to her husband. She just took home her second Best Actress win and delivered an acceptance speech referencing Taylor Swift. All things considered, that's a pretty good night.

Emma Stone traded one Louis Vuitton dress for another last night at the 96th Academy Awards.

After accepting the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Poor Things, Stone revealed that her sea foam peplum dress had ripped apart at the seams. Luckily, there were just a few remaining awards before the star was able to change into her after party look—a semi-transparent, high-low Louis Vuitton dress.

The grey-ish white gown was covered in tiny diamond-shaped mirrors and silver fringe that sparkled as cameras flashed in her direction. Her powder blue bra and underwear peeked through the shimmery sheer, a callback to her dress from earlier in the evening, and perhaps a nod to the icy blue puff-sleeved, cropped jacket she wore as Bella Baxter in Poor Things. Stone completed the look with a pair of metallic heels.

The dress is a modification of a look included in Louis Vuitton's Fall/Winter 2024 show earlier this month at Paris Fashion Week.

Stone had taken the Oscars stage earlier in the evening, wearing a peplum Louis Vuitton gown with a shell-like layer of fabric, complementing by a monochrome beauty look referencing a top 2024 makeup trend.

Celebrity stylist Petra Flannery dressed Stone for this year's award show. She previously told Vogue, "We wanted to keep Emma, Emma, but show her affinity with the character and Bella's spirit."

Stone was honest about her wardrobe malfunction as she walked onstage, kicking off her acceptance speech by admitting her dress tore during Ryan Gosling's "I'm Just Ken" performance.

After winning the award for Best Actress for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things, Stone, who was clearly shocked at hearing her name announced, took to the stage while pinching the back of her Louis Vuitton dress. Was she in the middle of an awkward wardrobe malfunction? Thankfully, it was just a slight issue, and one of the on-stage presenters helped fix her gown as the two-time Academy Award-winning actress decided to make light of the mishap.

"Oh boy, my dress is broken. I think it happened during 'I'm Just Ken,' I'm pretty sure," she said while shaking a finger. After seeing Stone and Ryan Gosling's high-energy meeting in the crowd for Gosling's Oscars performance, it's easy to see how the Poor Things star may have busted a seam or two.

Stone, whose Oscars beauty look was very on-brand, might we add, got a bit tearful during her acceptance speech as she praised her fellow nominees and thanked Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos. "He was right because it's not about me. It's about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts and that is the best part of making movies is all of us together."

Stone went on to thank her family, her husband, and "most importantly," her daughter. "I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl," she said, before reminding the audience not to look at her broken dress.

We have to thank Stone for leaving us both chuckling and crying as we close out this year's Academy Awards. 

I'm just going to say it: Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan of our generation. Their chemistry is unmatched, their banter as spiky as the potential of true love, and their love for one another as clear as can be. And any time they get together—not just in perfect films like Crazy, Stupid, Love or the alleged musical La La Land—we simply cannot look away.

The glossy pinky-peach hue is the perfect compliment to her pale pink manicure, which was created using one coat of Dazzle Dry nail polish in the shade Peacefully Me, and a second coat in the shade Fine China to create an icy finish.

"Tonight is a special event and we though it would be good to go back to the basics," nail artist Emi Kudo exclusively tells Marie Claire. "Milky white has been a big trend, but Emma and I have been using these milky shades many years before it was popular."

As for her hair? It’s substantially less long and more red than that of Bella Baxter’s, all thanks to hair stylist extraordinaire Mara Rozsak. I've always wondered how trends arise on the red carpets at major awards shows. Are all the celebrity stylists in a group chat that I don't know about? Are the celebrities FaceTiming each other during their fittings? No matter how it's done, I love seeing the trends pop up—especially when they're unexpected. On the 2024 Oscars Red Carpet, one of the most prominent themes took us under the sea with the mermaidcore trend. 

So many gowns on the carpet had an ocean feel. It all started when Dune actress Anya Taylor-Joy stepped out in a Christian Dior Haute Couture dress inspired by the label's Junon dress, which debuted during Christian Dior's Fall/Winter 1949–1950 collection. Speaking to E! 's Laverne Cox on the red carpet, Taylor-Joy said her gown was "inspired by Botticelli's 'Birth Of Venus," the first reference to the water.

Later on in the evening, Best Actress nominee and former Oscar winner Emma Stone stepped out in a peplum dress custom-designed by Louis Vuitton. The minty gown, which also took inspiration from the over-the-top outfits worn by her Poor Things character, Bella Baxter, was made in a silk jacquard fabric with a pattern that mimicked a shell pattern. It gave us another, albeit subtle, reference to the ocean.

Also a nod to mermaidcore was fellow Dune actress Florence Pugh's approach to the trend in her slinky silver Del Core gown—a change-up from her usual Valentino fare—which featured a selection of jeweled beads around the waist below a structured, almost shell-like bodice with a 3D ripple at her hips with jewels from Bulgari. Even subtler were floating straps—a detail that her dress shared with Emily Blunt's Schiaparelli look—giving her gown a weightless, floating feel.

Former Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o, who is presenting the award for Best Supporting Actress at tonight's ceremony, stepped on the red carpet in a mid-toned blue gown, custom-made for her by Armani Privé, no-less, that featured delicate feathers around the waist and hemline. The videos of her moving across the carpet gave her a mermaid-like appeal.

Fellow presenter Hailee Steinfeld even opted for true under-the-water energy in her flowing teal blue and gold Elie Saab gown, complete with arm cuffs that gave her some very dreamy fins on the carpet tonight. And right as the carpet was ending, Best Supporting Actress nominee Da'Vine Joy Randolph appeared on the carpet in an icy blue sequined custom gown, also by Louis Vuitton.

That these watery shades were popular on this year's red carpet may not be so surprising, given that powder blue is one of spring 2024's biggest color trends and that Los Angeles has found itself under a deluge of rain over the last few weeks. Whichever way you look at it, the looks are undeniably refreshing after an awards season full of brighter shades of pink. Consider this a chance for the paler, sweeter shades to shine.

When you hear the word "peplum," what comes to mind? A neoprene fit-and-flare top? A nipped-in blazer with a waistline frill? Perhaps, after the 96th Academy Awards, you'll think of awards show glamour, too: Emma Stone wore a peplum dress on the 2024 Oscars red carpet that gave the pannier silhouette a very memorable, high-end twist and some kooky Bella Baxter flair.

I love how it looks and feels so lush on the lips and then adds that see through pop of color that’s just perfect!"

Although she didn't touch on the shade while on the show (there was a lot to talk about!), Stone did dig into her beauty secrets. After Robin Roberts commented on her dark hair in Poor Things, the 35-year-old took a second to once again share that her signature red hair is also "fake."

"I'm a blonde. I'm a blonde! I have dyed this red, so, it's all a lie," she said, looking into the camera. "Brunette? Redhead? Who is she?"

In a strong departure from her signature waves, the "This Is Me... Now" artist chopped her hair to sit just below her cheekbones, showing off the cut at Schiaparelli's Paris Fashion Week show on Monday, January 22. For the high-fashion event, her hairstylist, Chris Appleton, worked the locks into a wet style, fashioned in a middle part with two tendrils hanging in her face.

At just 35 years old, Emma Stone has seen quite a few of her dreams come true. She’s won a Best Actress Oscar, for starters (for her role in La La Land). This week she was nominated for her work in film and television at the Golden Globes and nabbed the Best Actress award for her role in the movie Poor Things. She’s performed on Broadway, found lasting love, and started a family. But one dream that has eluded her heretofore? Appearing on “regular” Jeopardy (i.e. not the celebrity iteration of the popular game show).

“I’m sorry, I don’t want to go on Celebrity Jeopardy,” Stone said on a recent episode of Variety’s “Awards Circuit” podcast. “I really want to earn my stripes.” 

Stone explained that she’s such a Jeopardy superfan that she takes notes while watching every night (!) and, despite her continued efforts and applying year-to-year, she has yet to get a callback.

“I would like to go on real Jeopardy,” she said. “But you have to take the test and you can only take it once a year with your e-mail address. So, every June, I take the quiz, and they don’t tell you how you did. They just say, ‘We’ll let you know in the next nine to 12 months if you got on the show.’ And guess what? I haven’t gotten on the show.” 

Jeopardy producers, come on! You’re sitting on a gold mine of an opportunity here and squandering it. Let a woman achieve her dream! And she would make you proud, producers—she takes her prep very seriously. “I watch it every single night and I mark down how many answers I get right,” she said. “I swear, I could go on Jeopardy.” She added, perhaps not surprisingly, “That’s my favorite show. That’s my dream.”

Our obsession with sheer fashion isn’t going anywhere soon. There will always be something awe-inspiring about a naked dress—it's that nude illusion! Emma Stone’s latest rendition of the sultry style even makes a practical case for wearing sheer beyond the red carpet. Just a day after winning her Golden Globe for her role in Poor Things (she also wore a sheer Louis Vuitton number to the awards show!), the actress appeared in yet another translucent number. This time, at the Los Angeles premiere of her television show The Curse, Stone wore a sheer slip dress and utilized a style hack that made her see-through style less of a "skin is in" statement.

Stone arrived at the Beverly Hills Fine Arts Theatre looking exceptionally polished. Her choice of dress hails from Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection. The sleek dress features a spaghetti strap with swatches of draped black fabric and a trendy rosette on the left breast. You’ll notice, however, that Stone’s version looks slightly different than how it appeared on the runway. That’s because, underneath her sheer little black dress, she added a dark slip that covers her mid-riff so the gauzy Givenchy number felt less risqué.

Stone, who has been working with stylist Petra Flannery for some time, opted to wear black pumps and sheer black tights with her dress. She chose not to accessorize with any major statement jewelry, allowing her sophistiated LBD to make a stand-alone impression. She wore her hair up in a bun, and her makeup was natural-looking with a slightly glossy coral-toned lip and minimalist cat-eye eyeliner.

On the runway, the rest of the dress was completely sheer and styled with black hot-pant shorts and calf-length sheer socks. Without the slip, the all-over translucent slip leans youthful, whereas Stone’s addition of sheer tights and a slip underneath adds a lovely personal touch that gives the dress some maturity.

The naked dress trend is proving to be, yet again, a style to watch this red carpet season. At the Golden Globes, in addition to Stone's glittery sheer gown, her fellow best-dressed nominee Hunter Schafer wore a nude number, and sneak-in supportive girlfriend Kylie Jenner followed suit in a vintage boudoir-esque lacey gown. 

But sheers can definitely be worn outside the celebrity set and in more practical iterations. And while we can’t imagine sitting in our office desks in a completely translucent number, Stone’s ensemble proves there are different ways to make sheer more practical and attainable—like wearing dark garments underneath, as the actress did. If you’re just as intrigued by the sheer trend as we are, try your hand at styling a translucent top or dress, perhaps with a solid bra or tank underneath as a comfortable and less-risqué option.

One of the highlights of the Golden Globes was all about female friendship—and no, we're not talking about Barbie's wins (this time). This sweet moment came courtesy of Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lawrence. The two superstars are both longtime friends with Emma Stone, who took home an award for her lead performance in Yorgos Lanthimos' Poor Things. When Stone's name was announced, Swift and Lawrence were among those cheering the loudest in the room, and both their epic responses were caught on camera.

While Swift was only briefly seen, clapping and cheering along with the standing ovation for Stone, Lawrence's entire reaction was captured—because she was nominated for the same category! The No Hard Feelings actor had a joke ready when CBS's cameras showed each of the nominees before the award was announced; when it was her turn, the Oscar-winner mouthed to the camera, "If I don't win, I'm leaving." However, once Stone's name was announced, Lawrence put both her arms up in a full high-V cheer, before jumping out of her chair and looking around for Stone.

For her emotional speech, Stone began by thanking her husband Dave McCary, before thanking her collaborators on Poor Things. She also made her case for considering the surreal film in which she plays Bella Baxter, a woman with the brain of a child, as a rom-com.

"I see this as a rom-com, in the sense that Bella falls in [love with] life itself, rather than a person. She accepts the good and the bad in equal measure — all of it is important," she said of the film.

Stone had a hilarious response to her friend Swift's viral moment later that night, with the actress balancing her appreciation for the sweet moment with her trademark dry humor. When asked about Swift's huge applause in the Globes' press room, per Page Six, the actress jokingly replied, "What an asshole, am I right?"

"I’ve known her for almost 20 years, so I’m very happy she was there. She was also nominated tonight, so I’m very happy she was there — but what an a–hole," she continued.
