Summer is my favorite season for celebrity street styling. There's something so exciting about never knowing where fashion girls will resurface—or what they'll be wearing on their remote vacation. I was shocked to see Emma Watson out and about in Venice on June 8, let alone in an anti-flip-flops trend.

Watson is coming up on a week in Italy, though her beachside sightings have been slim to none. I'm all for paparazzi giving her some space. Then again, it would've been a crime not to capture her Italy-approved It shoes. Dua Lipa, who celebrated her second wedding close by last weekend, brought the heeled flip-flops trend abroad. Watson, on the other hand, kept it classically coastal in traditional Mexican huarache sandals.

First, picture the high-vamp uppers and low-profile soles of loafers. Then, replace conventional leather with woven cinnamon-colored bands, which criss-cross each other from toe box to heel. Some fashion girls might call them fisherman sandals. Two key differences—the braids' thickness and the uppers' vertical straps—make the style more breathable than yester-summer's boat shoes.

Watson's huarache sandals felt surprisingly mature, especially compared to flirty flip-flops. But she didn't take her vacation outfit too seriously. She styled the woven flats with a white pajama set, which featured an oversize collar and a girlish floral print. The Harry Potter alum even played around with cherry-shaped earrings and the beaded necklace trend.

Believe it or not, flip-flops of some sort might've helped Watson blend in with the locals. Instead, huarache sandals declared her an out-of-tower fashion girl. It's unclear where the actor found her flats, but Nisolo offers an almost identical pair. What's more, the Tennesse-based brand crafts its shoes in Peru and Mexico.

Similar styles also had a starring role in Spring 2026 collections. Everyone from Fendi to Casadei trotted out woven, foot-baring sandals, in the spirit of Alaïa's mesh ballet flats. The rich history of huaraches is certainly worth spotlighting, though. The silhouette can be traced back 500 years.

Take it from Watson: When flip-flops inevitably start to feel too predictable, widen your horizons to more intricately crafted alternatives. It's a surefire way to stand out on summer's style scene, no matter where you jet off to.

This year, Emma Watson made her Paris Fashion Week debut in the nick of time: Miu Miu invited her to their Spring 2026 show on October 6, Fashion Month's penultimate day. She fit right in with front-row regulars, thanks to her Miu Miu-clad take on fall's suede jacket trend.

Watson was one of the first to arrive before Miuccia Prada's newest collection, presumably anxious to attend her first runway show in over a year. A suede coat—its textured brown exterior ending mid-thigh—acted as her outfit's focal point. Gold cascading buttons appeared to be its only accents. Its exact Miu Miu origins remain a mystery, but during the Fall 2025 show, suede stretched from skirts and bomber jackets to peacoats.

Watson layered the cropped coat over a pale pink mini dress. Its satin sheen juxtaposed the bohemian, '70s-inspired nature of her outerwear. Even so, it tapped into the rising silk fad, co-signed by Zoë Kravitz and Katie Holmes. The label's signature black-and-white tag—as seen below her jacket's hem—confirmed she's a Miu Miu girl through and through.

Even Watson's accessories hailed from Miu Miu's shelves. First, she carried the black Arcadie Bag: a micro-mini east-west purse beloved by Gigi Hadid, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Chung, and more. The Harry Potter alum hadn't styled the $3,100 piece before now. With the Arcadie finally at her disposal, keep an eye out for its padded leather and top-handle straps in the coming days.

Miu Miu also loaned Watson a pair of leather slingback pumps. The itty-bitty kitten heels—famous for their multi-buckle uppers—are a Miu Miu calling card. She went with the black, $1,290 colorway, though they're also available in burgundy and ivory.

In recent years, Watson's public appearances have been slim to none, after feeling "a bit caged" by the acting industry. In a Sept. 2025 interview with Hollywood Authentic, Watson revealed, "I do very much miss using my skill-set, and I very much miss the art."

Slowly but surely, Watson is picking up where she left off in Dec. 2018, after wrapping Greta Gerwig's Little Women. Miu Miu was the perfect atelier to welcome her back to the front row: She's been a brand muse since 2003.

Designers had a tough trend to pitch me on their Spring/Summer 2025 runways. From Americana labels like Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, to European luxury behemoths like Bottega Veneta and Burberry, every runway checked off "plaid" as their print of the warm-weather season. Never mind that the print pairs best with crunchy leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, and a Gilmore Girls marathon in my opinion: The upcoming summer plaid trend coated cut-out dresses and flowy skirts with a promise that I'd all wear the print for beach trips soon enough.

I couldn't deny the print's fashion month domination, but I needed some real-world examples to prove once and for all that plaid dresses belonged in my May through August wardrobe rotation. That evidence arrived on May 21, in the form of Emma Watson's dress for a Palais des Festivals stop before the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

Watson exited her car in a picnic blanket white and red plaid dress, pulled from Chanel's Resort 2025 runway. An apron-like neckline gave way to a structured waist set with cascading ruffles on each side. I had to admit: The sleeveless shape and ruffles picking up the seaside breeze did read as vacation material. With Watson's addition of circular sunglasses, cap-toe Chanel flats, and a canvas tote bag, she could have been en route to a relaxing day on the coast (and not a likely movie premiere—her first at Cannes in 12 years).

Emma Watson's Cannes comeback tour is so far two-for-two on unexpected outfits. She touched down at the Nice Airport on May 20 in a travel look that put TSA sweatpants to shame: a Chanel dress and ballerina pumps by Aeyde. Not even 24 hours later, she's shown the right cut and color can pull a fall print forward into summer. I strongly suspect her plaid dress comes from a quadruple-digit runway collection—so I'll get my same fix of summer plaids with the under-$500 options ahead.

For her return to the Cannes Film Festival after a decade-plus hiatus, Emma Watson was never going to go the casual route—even with her airport outfit.

Watson touched down at the Nice Airport for her first Cannes appearance since 2013 (when The Bling Ring premiered) ready to make the Arrivals floor her runway. She swapped sweatpants and trendy sneakers typically seen in transit for a Chanel dress plucked from its Resort 2025 collection.

Originally, her dress had been styled like a beachside brunch outfit with nothing but chunky white flip-flops. But Watson, who's crisscrossed the globe for movie premieres since her pre-teen years, knew that wouldn't fly on the airplane. Her solution: layering a chic black collarless jacket over the top of her eyelet florals.

Watson was already thinking about the Cannes dress code's demand for "elegant" footwear when she accessorized. A pair of black Aeyde ballet pumps accompanied her Chanel dress, creating a prim-and-proper effect without the pitch of a true high heel. Black Wayfarer sunglasses that could combat the cameras finished off her decidedly polished airport outfit.

Each May, Cannes airport outfits are the unofficial kickoff to a given star's sojourn in the French Riviera—and provide hints at what celebs will wear on the official red carpet. Most guests have lucrative brand deals dictating who they wear: Daisy Edgar-Jones and Dakota Johnson are Gucci girls, while Zoe Saldaña is in a committed relationship with Saint Laurent.

Emma Watson's look might not be the only Chanel dress fans see her wear on her visit. But no matter which designer is her date to the Croisette later this week, her elegant style is a shoe-in for the best-dressed list.

Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom, has explained how he thinks the movies' young cast avoided the "pitfalls of being a child actor"—and what he had to say was pretty heartwarming.

"One of the questions that was asked earlier about the pitfalls of being a child actor that we seem to have avoided, I would posit that a large degree of that was because we were all there together," Lewis said during an appearance at Rhode Island Comic Con on Nov. 3 (via People). "Frequently, you hear many stories of how they were the sole actor in that movie and having to carry that movie on their own and all of the pressures and anxieties that come with that. Whereas, we were all kind together."

He added, "a lot of the fears that we had were all shared" and said that nobody else can understand exactly "what we went through and how it affected our personal lives except each other."

Lewis played a Hogwarts student alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and many more young people.

Looking back now, 13 years on from the last Harry Potter movie premiere, the most important thing for Lewis are the friendships he made along the way.

"It's one of the things that I've carried with me is those friendships," he said. "I don't go back and read the books. One of the only things that I still kind of hold onto is those relationships that we forged throughout those films."

Childhood stardom has been under the microscope lately, with many former child stars speaking out about how their lives suffered as a result of finding fame at such a young age.

The latest example of this came courtesy of Demi Lovato, who recently released the documentary Child Star, on which celebs including Raven-Symoné, Drew Barrymore and Kenan Thompson tell their stories.

Off the back of this film, Lovato is advocating for "protections" for young people in the entertainment industry, so that future generations don't go through what she and the other stars of the film went through.

Prada's most understated ambassador, Emma Watson, has touched down in Italy just in time for Milan Fashion Week.

The actress kicked off the week by embracing an unconventional street style trend from New York Fashion Week, tying a sweater over the shoulders of her coat. If nothing else, Watson's knitwear moment confirms that this layering trend will dominate spring 2024.

Ahead of Prada's Fall/Winter 2024-2025 runway presentation—which will take place this Thursday in Milan—Watson was spotted outside of the Prada store, presumably for a fitting. While out and about, paparazzi captured the Harry Potter actress' off-duty style—a rare glimpse, as she's notorious for staying out of the public eye.

Watson's head-to-toe preppy Prada street style look consisted of a blue and white striped button-down top and a pair of relaxed blue jeans at the base. The popular layering trend made its mark when Watson slung a tan sweater over her khaki-colored trench coat, tying it in a loose not. For footwear, she wore Prada's signature brushed leather loafers in a chocolate brown shade.

Watson accessorized the look with a pair of oval sunglasses and the Prada Re-Edition 2005 Nylon bag in black. The actress currently serves as the face of the environmentally-focused Prada Re-Nylon Collection campaign.

As for Watson's knitwear layering hack, it seems as though she isn't the only celebrity co-signing the emerging trend. At Tommy Hilfiger's Fall 2024 runway show during NYFW, Sofia Richie Grainge also took the sweater-over-coat look for a spin. Like Watson, Richie Grainge slung her sweater over the shoulders of her trench coat.

As an ambassador of the brand, Watson's presence in the Prada front row is almost guaranteed tomorrow, along with a slew of other A-list celebrities. Hunter Schafer is another well-loved Prada ambassador who will likely appear.

One thing is certain: At least one person outside the show will arrive with a sweater inexplicably tied around their shoulders.

Who doesn't love a practical, efficient queen? We've all had to get creative from time to time—haven't we?—when it comes to our vices (alcohol, coffee, weed, etc...), and Emma Watson is no stranger to such predicaments. Like when she found herself making cocktails for British Vogue and decided—no rolling pin in sight—to take off her chunky Prada heel and use that to crush the ice.

And guess what? It actually worked better than the rolling pin, which is probably a good sign for your feet! Hey Prada: looks like your next advertising campaign has been sorted.

Can't you picture it? Emma Watson, styled to the hilt, climbing up an icy mountain in her heels, shards of the slippery stuff crushing and crumbling underneath her but—somehow?—she never falls? The whole video is actually quite delightful, giving you a peek into Watson's relationship with her brother and friends (adorable, competitive) and how she spent her pandemic days (writing and directing).

Of course, we're still thinking about what the people at Prada must think about the ice part.

If you know anything at all about Emma Watson, it won't come as a surprise to you that she's a pretty damn brave person—and she's certainly not afraid of a cute lil mouse, like I would be if the roles were reversed.

In fact, the Little Women actress shared a little known fact about herself involving mice, taking to Instagram to tell a pretty random and also adorable story of redemption.

"Lesser known fact - We had cats growing up and it was always my job in our family to 'save the mice,'" Watson captioned a photo of a tiny terrified rodent in her hand.

"This guy I named Jerry. It was a pretty near miss because both the cat and the dog had him cornered under the settee. I really hope he doesn’t risk his health again for a chocolate digestive biscuit. It’s not worth it Jerry! I might not be there!!!!!!!"

Predictably, many commenters made parallels with Harry Potter. "Wait, is that Peter Pettigrew?" quipped one person.

"just like Hermione helping Goblins," said another.

Someone else had an important question to ask. "Most importantly, did Jerry get the chocolate digestive biscuit?" they inquired, though Watson has yet to let us know the verdict.

Watson is known for keeping a fairly quiet profile on social media, but sometimes she surprises us with a super detailed post out of the blue like this one.

Aside from promoting her gin brand Renais, which she cofounded with her brother Alex, the last time Watson gave us a candid glimpse into her life in this way was when she turned 33 and waxed lyrical about all that she'd learned and experienced up until then.

"I felt really sad and really pissed off about a lot of things. I learned more about love and being a woman. It took me three years but I have finally figured out a daily practice and can actually keep it for more than a few days in a row," she wrote at the time, among other beautiful words.

Here's hoping we get more of these delightfully unexpected insights in the near future.

Anyway, on the before-last day of London's Wimbledon tennis tournament this past weekend, we found out that—of all people—Harry Potter star Emma Watson and "Someone You Loved" singer Lewis Capaldi are big mates, as they say across the pond.

Watson and Capaldi were spotted watching a match together, and laughing heartily all the while. At one point, they even made the same hand gesture, and I can't tell if it's a coincidence or if they were doing a bit, but I'm choosing to believe the latter.

In case you're unfamiliar with Capaldi's work in and out of the studio, while the Scottish singer's music is very emotional and tear-jerking, he spends his life s**tposting on social media, and making hilarious and self-deprecating jokes. Like Adele, if you will.

Meanwhile, Watson—whether rightly or wrongly, to be fair—has a reputation for being a more serious figure, which is in part why this friendship has been dubbed "unexpected."

People took to Twitter to express their delight at this lovely pairing.

"This has killed me, I would love to be the fly on the wall for Lewis Capaldi and Emma Watson chat," wrote one person.

"lewis capaldi and emma watson being good friends makes so much sense," said someone else.

"not my husband lewis capaldi cheating on me at wimbledon with emma watson," quipped another Twitter user.

While we don't know if Capaldi and Watson have hung out before or if they have plans to do so in the future, I'm certainly hoping they keep this up. Honestly, they just seemed to be having so much fun with each other! And what more can you ask for, right?

Emma Watson isn't known for using social media on any sort of regular schedule, but to ring in her 33rd birthday on April 15, she treated us to an intimate look at what her life has been like over the past few years.

The Harry Potter star posted a series of photos from her recent Prada campaign on Instagram to mark her new age, and in the caption for one of them, she opened all the way up about the lessons she's learned and the people who've been with her for the ride.

"This is 33. Holy moly. Before 29 I hadn’t even heard of a Saturn Return as a concept. Let’s just say that now I am well acquainted," Watson quipped.

She then listed some of the things she's done that have had an impact on her. "I stepped away from my life - I learned to surf (badly), I rode some horses (that went better), I did a lot of therapy (YESS therapy!). My brother and I joined forces @renaisspirits. I adopted Sofia in Mexico, who seems to be an angel not a dog. We filmed a Harry Potter reunion."

She continued, "I said goodbye to my Grandma and Grandpa. I retraced my steps. I started a women’s environmental investment fund. I played Pickleball with @sugarrayleonard and I even played golf and then tried to make all of my girlfriends learn too. I cut my thumb nail off on both hands trying to cook for myself and then was only able to do things one handed for months."

The actress and activist also wanted to stress that it's not been a smooth ride by any means.

"I felt really sad and really pissed off about a lot of things. I learned more about love and being a woman. It took me three years but I have finally figured out a daily practice and can actually keep it for more than a few days in a row," she wrote.

"I burned some things down. I eat green things now! I got obsessed with making Squarespace websites. I directed my first commercial."

She ended her caption by thanking "the witches in my coven who were so pivotal in helping me arrive at where and who I am now," as well as everyone else who has supported her.

She also shared the following wisdom: "It takes a village, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise," she wrote.

Remember when the Harry Potter reunion was nothing but a rumor, and I didn't let any of you get your hopes up? Well, you officially have permission to get those hopes up real high, because IT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING, PEOPLE.

Several original cast members have confirmed the news on Instagram, and fans everywhere are skipping with glee (or at least that's what I'm imagining them doing). First up is Emma Watson, who posted an official teaser for the special, which will celebrate 20 years since the first movie came out (the actual anniversary was on Nov. 16). "Had to break out the Time-Turner one last time for this… #ReturnToHogwarts, streaming only on @hbomax," Watson wrote.

Next is Tom "POTTAH" Felton, who tried hard to relate to his American fans, writing, "is this what school homecoming is like? mark your calendars for New Years Day #returntohogwarts , streaming on @hbomax x"

Matthew Lewis, AKA Neville Longbottom, shared the teaser with the caption, "This New Year’s Day… we’re putting the band back together. #ReturnToHogwarts, streaming only on @HBOMax. International release coming soon."

No word from Rupert Grint, and Daniel Radcliffe isn't on Instagram, but both are listed in the credits at the end of the teaser. Also involved are Helena Bonham-Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Imelda Staunton, Bonnie Wright and so many more.

Watson also posted the most adorable throwback pics from the cast—one of herself and trusty acolytes Radcliffe and Grint, and one with what looks like the wholeee cast and crew. "Harry Potter was my home, my family, my world and Hermione (still is) my favorite fictional character of all time. I think a journalist once said it was irritating how many times during an interview I mentioned how lucky I was and started counting… BUT I DAMN WELL KNEW!!! And still know," she wrote, making us all tear up just a little bit.

She continued, "I am proud not just of what we as group contributed as actors to the franchise but also as the children that became young adults that walked that path. I look at my fellow cast members now and I am just so proud of who everyone has become as people. I am proud we were kind to each other that we supported one another and that we held up something meaningful.

"Thank you to the fans that have continued to show their support well after the last chapter closed. The magic of the world wouldn’t exist without you. Thank you for fighting to make it such an inclusive and loving place.

"I still miss the crew who made these films all the time. Thank you for all of your hard work too - I know your contributions sometimes get overlooked.

If there are three words in the English language guaranteed to send whole swathes of millennials into meltdown, it's surely "Harry Potter reunion." I'm hoping not to cause a panic here, but it looks like those three magic words (a spell, if you will) might become reality, or so The Sun reports, anyway.

So far, it sounds like the main cast members, namely Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, have only been "invited" to participate in the special revival, and haven't necessarily accepted said invitation yet.

"The proposed show is being shrouded in secrecy as franchise bosses want to get talent locked in first," a source in the know told The Sun. "It would be amazing if they pull it off and they have offered big money to the cast to reunite."

Reflecting on the likelihood of the actors accepting to film the revival, the insider added, "Many of the actors have moved on, but the movies launched them to superstardom. They all have lots of fond memories from their time filming together. Everyone is hopeful it will happen."

The proposed reunion would take place at the Warner Brothers Studio Tour London in the coming weeks, and aim to recreate iconic scenes from the movies, "including boarding the Hogwarts Express on Platform 9¾ and The Yule Ball."

The reunion obviously isn't confirmed for the moment, so I hope this didn't get your hopes up too much. While we wait for further news, may I suggest taking another look at Emma Watson's breathtaking outfit from the Earthshot Prize? You're welcome.

What's so funny, Emma Watson? That's the question that will torture me until the end of time (OK, until I finish writing this article, but same difference).

Prince William also spoke to People about the Earthshot Prize and his hopes for the future of the planet. "The urgency of the situation can't be overstated," he said. "But through the Earthshot Prize, I want to show people across the world why there is reason to be hopeful."

He added, "Seeing the incredible solutions that have been developed by the first winners of the Prize—and all of our finalists—shows us that the answers are out there. By recognizing these efforts and supporting and scaling them to be the best they can be, we can inspire the confidence that a healthier, more sustainable future is within our grasp."

The duke also announced some exciting news about where the Earthshot Prize is headed next. "This is just the start," he said. "I'm thrilled that in 2022, The Earthshot Prize will be heading to the United States, where we will continue to spread this vital message of urgency, optimism and action."

Emma Watson is back! Until this weekend, the actress and activist hadn't shown up on a red carpet since 2019, at the premiere of Little Women. For her big comeback, Watson chose the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Earthshot Prize ceremony at Alexandra Palace in London, which rewarded those working to preserve the environment.

As such, Watson picked her outfit very carefully, and settled on a stunning creation by Harris Reed, a designer who puts identity and gender fluidity at the heart of their work. Her outfit consisted of a tulle and lace white asymmetrical gown/tunic over flared black pants.

"I had the immense honour to dress @emmawatson in customised head to toe Harris Reed for tonight’s Earthshot Prize," Reed wrote on Instagram. "Emma wears full Up-cycled Demi- Couture gown from my collection FOUND using old wedding dresses from @oxfamgb with classic H- flares all topped off with the divine #harrisreedxmissoma earrings, rings and bracelets! A massive massive thank you to @rebeccajbean for working night after night on this stunning piece, @phoebebluecobb for helping make it all come true!!! Endlessly grateful to be be able to have."

A rep for Oxfam, a UK-based charity shop (think Goodwill), commented, "An incredible outfit for an incredible woman ... Thank you again for your wonderful support of Oxfam, and choosing #foundinoxfam dresses for your collection!"

Watson is hugely passionate about the environment (among many other causes) and also shared a promotional clip for COP26 on Instagram, which is the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference.

Emma Watson is well accustomed to a dramatic hair transformation—over a decade later, I still ask myself whether I could pull off that pixie cut, for instance. And while her latest cut isn't quite so drastic, it's still a major change for the actor. Watson was spotted with a choppy caramel bob while taking a trip to a tailor in Beverly Hills Wednesday, as Hollywood Life reports, after previously sporting a shoulder length, slightly darker brunette style. And now I'm contemplating cutting my hair off again!

It's been a stressful month for Emma Watson's fanbase, after reports suggested Watson had given up acting altogether after 20 years in the business. "Emma Watson has gone 'dormant' according to her agent," an article in the Daily Mail alleged. "That appears to be movie-speak for she's 'given up acting.'"

Thankfully, that turned out not to be the case at all. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Jason Weinberg, Watson's manager at talent agency Untitled Entertainment, stressed that while the actor has gone quiet on social media, she certainly hasn't given up her day job. • Kari Lewis, a 31-year-old woman from Indiana, has the internet doing a double-take thanks to her amazing Emma Watson cosplays.
• The woman is a dead ringer for the 3o-year-old actress, and earns money impersonating Watson's most famous characters at conventions and children's parties.
• Lewis spoke to MarieClaire.com about having a famous face, earning money to cosplay, and which of Emma Watson's famous characters she plans to impersonate next.

There are celebrity doppelgängers and then there are people who look so much like certain celebs, you have to do an actual double-take when you see them.

The internet is currently doing a collective double-take thanks to Kari Lewis, a 31-year-old woman from Indianapolis, Indiana who just so happens to be the spitting image of 30-year-old actress Emma Watson. Lewis has been compared to Watson for years now—since the first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, was released in 2001, in fact. 

"I was approached by a couple of young girls at a post office and they called me Hermione," she tells MarieClaire.com of her first time being mistaken for her celebrity doppelgänger. "I didn't recognize the name, so I went home and looked it up. It was around the time the first Harry Potter film was released."

Lewis' day job is as an instructional assistant, but the self-described "cosplayer, blogger, and Hufflepuff" (per her Instagram bio) has put her famous-looking face to work too and earns extra money on the side dressing up as some of Watson's most famous characters, Hermione Granger and Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

"I started in 2017 when I attended Indiana Comic Con, and I received a lot of positive feedback on my Hermione cosplay," Lewis says of her origins as a professional Emma Watson (or at least Emma Watson character) impersonator. "A lot of people turned their heads and commented on how much I looked like Emma."

Lewis says the side hustle is perfect for her and actually felt inevitable in a lot of ways because she's always sought out ways to perform and dress up (her résumé also includes a stint performing as a circus clown, time as a "haunted attraction actor," and roles in school plays). When it comes to professional appearances, Lewis mostly works the convention circuit (she declined to specify exactly what it pays to look just like Emma Watson, but did say that convention organizers typically pay for her travel and hotel expenses and that she sells autographed cosplay prints at the events), but has also branched out to birthday parties, which is just adorable.

"A little girl said to me, 'I've never met a real life princess before!' and I wanted to cry," Lewis said of her first birthday party appearance as Watson's Belle from the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast. "So, I told her she's a princess too!" 

The most impressive thing about Lewis' Emma Watson cosplay career (other than her on-point eyebrows and, you know, nearly-identical face), though, is probably her commitment to covering the breadth of the actress' body of work. Meaning? Lewis doesn't just dress as Watson's most iconic, commonly-cosplayed characters like Hermione Granger and Belle. She's also done an impressive version of Sam from The Perks of Being a Wallflower (and told us she's actually working on two additional looks from the movie—the dress Watson's character wears for the "Living Room Routine" dance and the character's Rocky Horror look).

She's also currently in the process of sewing (talk about dedication) Meg March's pink ballgown from Little Women to add that character to her repertoire, too. 

Of course, she also does those more classic cosplay characters—and does them perfectly, FWIW. Her go-to Beauty and the Beast costume is Belle's casual, small provincial town look:

Ahead, we take a look back at celebs and their alma maters. They too pulled all-nighters, drank too much alcohol, and griped about their meal plans.

New York University

Before she became Lady Gaga, 17-year-old Stefani Germanotta was accepted to the Collaborative Arts Project 21, a music school at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and lived in an NYU dorm. She withdrew during the second semester of her sophomore year to focus on her music career.

Wesleyan University

Sister of Jonah Hill and childhood BFF to Ben Platt (both attended high school at Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles), actress Beanie Feldstein graduated from Wesleyan University in 2015 with a degree in sociology.

Northeastern State University

Before Carrie Underwood won American Idol, she attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in mass communications with a concentration in journalism.

New York University

The Sprouse brothers chose not to study acting, and attended the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where students design their own major. Cole majored in archaeology and Dylan majored in video game design.

East Tennessee State University

Although Kenny Chesney graduated with an advertising degree, he spent his free time at the university in the ETSU Bluegrass Band, where he started writing songs and continued working on his music. He played at bars and fraternity parties, recording his first demo album in Bristol, Virginia, in 1989.

Georgetown University

Before becoming an incredible actress, Washington lived in Washington, D.C. and attended Georgetown University. The actress graduated in 1998 after creating her own major with a combination of psychology, anthropology, and sociology.

East Carolina University

Bullock graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, in 1986, where she studied acting in the theater production school.

California State University

Despite dropping out of college in 1968, director Steven Spielberg ended up finishing his education at California State University 34 years later.

Stanford University

After landing her first major role at the age of 15 in The Man in the Moon, Witherspoon enrolled at Stanford University as an English Literature major. The actress did not complete her degree, as her acting career became too demanding, but her love of books would translate to later success with her production company.

The Julliard School

Chastain graduated from The Julliard School, where she was training in theater, in 2003. The actress was able to attend the performing arts university due to a full scholarship from Robin Williams, who himself graduated from there in 1976.

Harvard University

Although Damon dropped out of Harvard in 1992, his time there wasn't a total waste. The actor drew inspiration from his time at the Cambridge university for his Oscar-winning screenplay, Good Will Hunting. The school later granted the famous actor an honorary degree.

Denison University

When Garner first arrived at Ohio's Denison University in 1990, she was enrolled as a chemistry major. The actress later changed her focus to theater, worked during the summer months for various acting companies, and graduated with her B.A. in theater in 1994. Recently, Garner delivered the commencement address at her alma mater.

Yale University

After graduating from the prestigious Yale School of Drama, Lupita Nyong'o snagged her first major role in 12 Years a Slave, which earned her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. 

New York University

Baldwin started college at George Washington University, but transferred to New York University after deciding to study acting. The talented comedian graduated with a degree from the prominent Tisch School of the Arts.

Auburn University

Spencer graduated from Alabama's Auburn University in 1994, and two years later landed her first role in the film, A Time to Kill. 

Northwestern University

The comedian attended two prestigious institutions. First, she received her B.A. in Theater from Northwestern University, and then she attended Yale University's School of Drama.

Duke University

The former doctor studied pre-med at Duke University before obtaining his medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The physician-turned-comedian told students during a speech at the University of Miami that "everybody has a right to pursue what they want. Whatever reality gives you, you make the most of it and make it your own."

Oxford University

Beckinsale landed her first major film roles while studying French and Russian literature as a student at Oxford University. According to a former classmate, journalist Victoria Coren, the actress was "whip-clever, slightly nuts, and very charming," during her time at University. Beckinsale dropped out before her final year as her acting career was picking up, though the actress has recently voiced her desire to finish her degree.

Sarah Lawrence College

Leoni attended the liberal arts college in Bronxville, New York, but did not complete her studies. Instead, the actress moved to St. Croix in the Caribbean and later decided to pursue a career in acting. In 1989, she landed a major role in the television show Santa Barbara and a few years later appeared in A League of Their Own. 

University of Southern California

After attending boarding school in New Hampshire, where he was actively involved in theater, Grace attended the University of Southern California. However, the actor didn't complete his degree. In 1998, when he was 20, Topher dropped out of USC to play Eric Foreman on That '70s Show. 

Boston College

Poehler graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor's degree in media and communications. She was a member of the college's improvisational comedy troupe called "My Mother's Fleabag."

At the 2014 Golden Globes, Poehler made a joke about her time at Boston College when she linked it to a nominee of the award she was giving. "Masters of Sex is the degree I got from Boston College," she said, high-fiving Tina Fey.

University of Pennsylvania

After succeeding in many areas in high school (he was student body president and prom king), Legend was offered admission to Harvard University and given scholarships to Georgetown University and Morehouse College. However, he decided to attend the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied English with an emphasis on African American literature. At college, Legend served as president and musical director of a co-ed jazz and pop a cappella group called "Counterparts."

New York University

Bell studied musical theater at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and made her Broadway debut while still a student in a musical version of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

Bell, who is an advocate on the importance of openness and acceptance when suffering from depression, first started feeling unlike herself while in college.

"I was at New York University, I was paying my bills on time, I had friends and ambition—but for some reason, there was something intangible dragging me down," Bell said. "Luckily, thanks to my mom, I knew that help was out there—and to seek it without shame."

University of Maryland

Rancic received a Bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Master's degree in journalism from American University. During this time, she worked for a Capitol Hill news bureau covering stories related to the U.S. government.

University of California, Los Angeles

Stiller enrolled as a film student at UCLA, but after nine months he left school to move back to New York City, his hometown. "I was the guy who dropped out and moved back in with his parents," Stiller said in a 2016 interview.

Dartmouth College

At Dartmouth College, Kaling majored in theatre. She created her own comic strip, "Badly Drawn Girl," and performed with the Dog Day Players, an improv group. She also took a semester off to intern for Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

In an interview with New York Magazine, Kaling said, "At Dartmouth College, I was freakin' Jaws in a community swimming pool. I wrote plays, I acted, I sang, I was the student newspaper cartoonist."

She followed with advice for students who were not particularly a "star" at their high school.

"I recommend going to college in the middle of nowhere. I got all the attention I could ever have wanted. If I had gone to NYU, right now I'd be the funniest paralegal in a law firm in Boston."

University of Southern California

Collins studied broadcast journalism at the University of Southern California before she got her big break at 20 years old, playing Sandra Bullock's daughter in The Blind Side.

University of Houston

Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., a.k.a. Lil Wayne, attended the University of Houston where he majored in political science. In a 2005 interview with MTV, Lil Wayne talks about his decision to go to college.

"I'm not going back to school," clarified Wayne, who's been making music professionally since he was nine years old and recently acquired his GED. "I'm really going to school for the first time."

Vassar College & NYU

Hathaway spent several semesters studying as an English major and women's studies minor at Vassar College before transferring to New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She has referred to her college enrollment as one of her best decisions because she enjoyed being with others who were trying to "grow up."

Brown University

Krasinski planned to be an English major and deferred his first semester of college to teach English in Costa Rica. He then attended Brown University and graduated as a playwright with honors.

Princeton University

Shields attended Princeton University to pursue her Bachelor's degree in French literature. She was a member of the Princeton Triangle Club and the Cap and Gown Club. Her autobiography, On Your Own, was published in 1985, three years before she graduated.

In recent years, Shields has opened up about losing her virginity to her college sweetheart, the future TV Superman Dean Cain.

Brown University

Watson received her Bachelor's degree in English literature from Brown University. Unlike some celebrities who became famous post-college, Watson had been famous (very famous) for years. In an interview with NY Daily News, a source stated that sometimes Watson's classmates "would respond [to her answer] with a quote from 'Harry Potter.'" The most popular choice was "Three points for Gryffindor."

"I was in denial," Watson said in an E! News interview. "I wanted to pretend I wasn't as famous as I was. I was trying to seek out normality, but I kind of have to accept who I am, the position I'm in and what happened."

Fordham University

Washington earned a B.A. in drama and journalism from Fordham University. During his time there, he played basketball as a guard under coach P.J. Carlesimo.

In 2011, Washington gave $2 million to Fordham University to endow the Denzel Washington Chair in Theatre, and also a gift of $250,000 that established the Denzel Washington Endowed Scholarship, which is dedicated to an undergraduate student studying theatre.

University of Texas at Austin

McConaughey graduated from UT Austin with a Bachelor's degree in radio-television-film. He still regularly visits campus to attend the Longhorn's football games. This summer, the University of Texas at Austin announced that McConaughey will be returning to his alma mater to assist in teaching a filmmaking class.

Southern Methodist University & University of Arizona

After two years at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Kardashian transferred to the University of Arizona, Tucson, where she completed her Bachelor's degree in theatre arts and a minor in Spanish. Kardashian told US Weekly that while at college she was stung by a scorpion and failed two classes because she was "too nervous to give speeches."

Columbia University

Stiles graduated from Columbia University with a degree in English literature. In 2010, she received the John Jay Award, an annual honorary award given to five alumni by the Columbia College Alumni Association for professional achievements.

University of Pennsylvania

Banks graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a major in communications and a minor in theater arts. While there, she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She then continued her schooling at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, where she earned her MFA.

Columbia University

Though Gyllenhaal had a few acting roles throughout her teenage years, she chose to step away for a bit to study literature and Eastern religions at Columbia University.

Texas A&M University

Longoria received her Bachelor of Science in kinesiology at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She later earned a Masters in Chicano Studies from California State University, Northridge. She presented her thesis on "Success STEMS From Diversity: The Value of Latinas in STEM Careers."

Harvard University

Jones majored in religion and philosophy at Harvard University. She admits that she didn't rebel until college: "I kind of lost my mind for a couple years and went to a lot of raves." Jones addressed the graduating class of 2016 at Harvard's Senior Class Day ceremony that year.

New York University

Sandler attended New York University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. During his freshman year, he was offered a recurring role as the Huxtable's family friend Smitter on The Cosby Show. He also performed regularly in clubs and at universities.

Vassar College

Although Streep was involved in several of her high school's plays, she was uninterested in serious theatre until acting in the play Miss Julie while at Vassar College. She also received an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree at Dartmouth College, and her Master of Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama.

University of California, Los Angeles

Franco is arguably the most educated actor. He enrolled at UCLA as an English major, but dropped out after his first year to pursue a career in acting. He later reenrolled with a creative writing concentration. He even received permission to take as many as 62 course credits per quarter compared to the normal limit of 19, while still continuing to act.

He then moved to New York to simultaneously attend graduate school at Columbia University's MFA writing program, New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for filmmaking, and Brooklyn College for fiction writing.

Northwestern University

Braff specifically studied at Northwestern University's School of Communication. He became a brother of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and graduated with a B.A. in film.

University of Kentucky

At the University of Kentucky, Judd completed a major in French, and minors in Anthropology, Art History, Theater, and Women's Studies. She was also part of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Later she graduated from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government with an M.P.A. At Harvard, she was awarded the Dean's Scholar Award for her work in the Harvard Law class, Gender Violence: Law and Social Justice.

Yale University

Foster majored in literature at Yale. She wrote her thesis on Toni Morrison and graduated magna cum laude.

"I chose Yale basically for writing and literature," she said. "Of course, you can't be sure—you get your first D and could decide to be a chemistry major."

She returned to Yale in 1993 to address the graduating class, and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from the university in 1997.

Dartmouth College

At Dartmouth, Dratch majored in drama and psychology. She was also a member of the improvisational comedy group "Said and Done."

University of Texas at Austin

Zellweger graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1991 with a B.A. in English. While there, she took a drama course as an elective, which sparked her interest in acting.

University of Southern California

Ferrell studied sports broadcasting at the University of Southern California. While there, he joined the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and was known for a his pranks—like occasionally dressing in a janitor's outfit and walking into his friends' classes. He was also known for streaking around campus with other Delta Tau Delta friends.

University of Missouri

Pitt majored in journalism with a focus in advertising at the University of Missouri. He also joined the Sigma Chi fraternity during his time there. With only two weeks left before earning his degree, Pitt left the university and moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

Harvard University

At Harvard, O' Brien concentrated in history and literature and graduated magna cum laude. During college, he was the drummer in a band called "The Bad Clams," and wrote for the Harvard Lampoon humor magazine. He served as the magazine's president his sophomore and junior years.

O' Brien has also admitted to stealing the outfit worn by Robin in the '60s TV show Batman when it was displayed on campus.

University of Iowa

At the University of Iowa, Kutcher studied biochemical engineering and joined the Delta Chi fraternity. To earn money for his tuition, Kutcher worked in the cereal department for the General Mills plant in Cedar Rapids, and sometimes sold his own blood.

Vassar College

Kudrow earned her B.S. in Biology from Vassar College. She intended to follow in her father's footsteps and research headaches. While trying to break into acting, she worked on her father's staff for eight years, earning a research credit on his study about the comparative likelihood of left-handed individuals developing cluster headaches. In 2010, Kudrow delivered the school's commencement address.

Harvard University

In an interview with the New York Post in 1999, Portman said, "I don't care if [college] ruins my career. I'd rather be smart than a movie star." She later graduated from Harvard. In 2015, she addressed the graduating class at Harvard's Senior Class Day ceremony.

Columbia University

Gyllenhaal studied for a year at Columbia University before dropping out to pursue acting.

• Emma Watson urged her followers to stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic with a personal post on Instagram.
• She shared that her grandma and mom are both especially vulnerable to the virus—the former is over 70, while the latter has type 1 diabetes—and her best friend works in healthcare.
• "Who are you staying home for? Sending love," she wrote.

Emma Watson's not usually one to share her private life on Instagram, typically using it to boost causes she supports and projects she's working on. But amid the coronavirus pandemic, she posted a rare personal message to encourage her followers to stay at home. "My grandma is over 70, so particularly vulnerable... My Mum is a type 1 diabetic and my best friend is a health care professional. #Istayhomefor them," she captioned the post. "Who are you staying home for? ⁣Sending love."

Watson then shared a few photos borrowed from Michelle Obama, suggesting ways to "show up for your community in these tough times." Examples? Offer to teach kids you know, donate to food banks, and buy gift certificates for local businesses.

Watson's got a big birthday coming up on April 15, which she's likely to spend in quarantine. Back in November, she spoke to Vogue about turning 30, revealing that she grappled with anxiety about the milestone. "It’s because there is suddenly this bloody influx of subliminal messaging around," she said. If you have not built a home, if you do not have a husband, if you do not have a baby, and you are turning 30, and you’re not in some incredibly secure, stable place in your career, or you’re still figuring things out… There’s just this incredible amount of anxiety."

She also revealed she was newly content with being single. "I never believed the whole ‘I’m happy single’ spiel," she said. "I was like, ‘This is totally spiel.’ It took me a long time, but I’m very happy [being single]. I call it being self-partnered."

You probably grew up watching Emma Watson as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter, and were stunned by her recent performance as Meg March in Greta Gerwig's adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's Little Women. She's been the apple of our eye since, like forever, but there's always been a part of me wondering: Who catches Watson's eye?

In the past year, Watson has been rumored to be linked to her old co-star from her days at Hogwarts, Tom Felton. That's been shot down, though, because it's also been rumored that Felton has signed up for the super-secretive celebrity dating app called Raya. Which, obviously, you would not be doing if you were dating Emma Watson.

It was heartbreaking to know this probably wasn't a thing, frankly. After I saw this photo that Felton posted of teaching Watson how to play the guitar in their pajamas, I really believed two of my childhood favorites were getting together.

It's all good, though, because, in October of last year, Watson was seen kissing a mystery man outside of Gail's Bakery in London. Months later, his identity has yet to be revealed, and I feel like it'll be a long time before we even get a first name.

"I want to be consistent: I can't talk about my boyfriend in an interview and then expect people not to take paparazzi pictures of me walking around outside my home," Watson told Vanity Fair in 2017. "You can't have it both ways."

In a November 2019 interview with Vogue UK, Watson described herself as "self-partnered" when it comes to her relationship status. Watson also spoke about her anxiety to turn 30.

"I never believed the whole 'I'm happy single' spiel," she said. "I was like, 'This is totally spiel.' It took me a long time, but I'm very happy [being single]. I call it being self-partnered."

So we can't confirm or deny who exactly Watson is dating (if anybody!), but we can confirm that Watson definitely still has a little bit of Hermione in her.

If she ever decides to retire from acting (which, hopefully, she won't), Emma Watson would make an excellent English professor.

Need proof? During an interview on the red carpet for the New York premiere of Little Women, Watson drew a perfect parallel between a key plot point in the Louisa May Alcott classic and something currently going down in the pop culture sphere.

Specifically, Watson compared Taylor Swift's ongoing copyright battle with Scooter Braun's Big Machine Records to the moment in Little Women when Jo March asks for the copyrights to the novel she wrote.

"It’s about believing in yourself and knowing your worth and owning your worth," Watson told Variety. "Right now, the Taylor Swift situation is a great example of, you know, you’re young and you’re talented and someone wants to buy your work, but having ownership at the end of the day is super, super important because you don’t know what someone’s going to decide to do with that."

And, if Taylor Swift analogies don't make the story's themes click with you, Watson also had a great Monopoly analogy on hand and ready to go.

"I think people undervalue ownership," she added. "You know when you play Monopoly and you have a decision and you want to own something or get cash fast. The way to win Monopoly, everyone, is to own stuff. I’m just saying."

Listen: It's never not going to be lovely when old Harry Potter co-stars reunite. And we're all prone to just a little bit of shipping when certain couples align—for instance, Emma Watson and Tom Felton, who popped up on Tom's Instagram Monday playing guitar in their pyjamas. Some fans are convinced the two are dating, but relationship or not, it's really very cute to see them hanging out. 

Tom posted a photo of the pair in South Africa, both sporting pyjamas (Emma's are extremely Hermione, it must be said), with Tom teaching Emma how to play the guitar. The caption, "Quick learner x," is ever so slightly superfluous, since we all know Emma's a genius even in the Muggle world. Regardless, it's an adorable photo, which sent the Hermione-Draco shippers (I believe the kids are calling it "Dramione") absolutely giddy in the comments.

Tom's next photo only adds fuel to the fire: He's sitting cross-legged on the beach, two thumbs up, wearing a t-shirt that reads, "WOMEN DO IT BETTER." The "EW" photo credit in the caption is kind of unnecessary, let's be honest—does a more Emma Watson t-shirt exist? There's also the small matter that he's worn the shirt before, in Emma's presence no less: Back in November, she posted a video on Instagram of the two riding a longboard, both having the absolute time of their lives. (Emma captioned it, "#TFToleratingmysubparskatingskillssince1999," which conjures a very cute image of baby Malfoy attempting to teach baby Hermione how to skate on the HP set.)

This isn't the first time they've hung out this year, or even documented their time together: In February, Emma posted a gorgeous photo on Instagram of herself in the driver's seat, captioned, "Friends capture you best," with Tom tagged. And yes, that pointed "friends" is admittedly un-ignorable. My conclusion: Whether romantic or purely platonic, I heartily endorse this relationship.

Hello, northern parulas, and welcome back to another edition of this week in Timothée Chalamet. Happy summer solstice! I do hope you charge your crystals and commune with nature and enjoy the longest day of the year.

Speaking of nature, a cool thing I learned (courtesy of reader Jill) is that the northern parula is called the “yellow backpack bird” by her birder friend, and she thought it was particularly fitting for Chalastans because of the iconic yellow backpack that Timmy wears in Call Me By Your Name. I would also argue that the yellow-rumped warbler is quite backpack-wearing, though this is the first time I have ever thought of it in these terms and I am better for it. Thank you, Jill!

Here’s what élse is going on:

Obviously you already know that the first official photos from Greta Gerwig’s Little Women were released this week. And you likely also already know (or at least assumed) that I passed out a little when I saw the one of Timmy corseting up Florence Pugh. Let’s unpack these images, yes?

Vanity Fair posted the exclusive, which I am slightly offended by because Greta Gerwig and I went to the same high school and I just feel like maybe she should have considered giving me the exclusive even though I’m pretty sure she has literally no say in how that works but I just feel that being an alumna of St. Francis Catholic High School for Girls should count for something besides eight semesters of theology classes and the residual guilt of abstinence-only education?

Here are the highlights, to me:

Is this about to be the horniest Little Women adaptation ever? I think yes. (This entire story is wonderful, I recommend.)

If the point of art is to both entertain and inspire, this movie is already the most art thing I have ever had the pleasure of knowing about because as horrific as this year may be in some ways, it is also the year that Little Women will come out. I can hold on!

(It hits theaters December 25, 2019. But you already knew that too, didn’t you?)

Last May, Emma Watson broke up with Chord Overstreet (who you probably know from Glee), after dating for six months. Watson, 28, and her rumored boyfriend Brendan Wallace, 37, have reportedly been seeing each other since October when they were first spotted kissing in Mexico, and the tech CEO is a bit more low-key (okay a lot more low-key) than Overstreet...to say the least.

Here's everything we know about Wallace and his relationship with Watson.

Wallace is the co-founder and managing partner of Fifth Wall Ventures Management, a venture capital firm that focuses on technology in areas like real-estate, construction, and hospitality. If you want an in-depth explanation of what he does, watch his interview below.

According to People, the businessman graduated from Princeton University in 2004 with a B.A. in political science and economics. He also earned his MBA from Stanford Business School in 2010.

Hello, you vermilion flycatchers, and welcome back to another edition of This Week in Timothée Chalamet. Are you drinking enough water? Got any fun plans for Labor Day?

Personally, I find Labor Day a little bittersweet. On the one hand, it’s a three-day weekend at the best time of the year, when the weather is still hot enough that you can go swimming but it's not the summer dregs where you know it’s going to go on forever. On the other, it means that autumn (which always seems too short) is right around the corner, and then winter after that (which always seems too long).

Fortunately, there’s plenty of Timothée Chalamet content to keep us going through those long months. Beautiful Boy is going to get its Toronto International Film Festival screening in a few weeks (and both Steve Carrell and Timmy are going to be at the fest), plus the Netflix flick The King that I refuse to learn anything about will be out...sometime in 2019? Hope!

Here’s what élse is goin’ on:

Amazon shelved a starring-Timmy movie directed by Woody Allen

Speaking of bittersweet, Woody Allen announced a “career break” and won’t make any new films until 2019. Allen is the subject of sexual abuse allegations put forth by his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow years ago, though he's never really had to answer for them somehow and has been allowed to carry on with his career as usual. That he may now face consequences is not the bittersweet part.

The "break" comes alongside the announcement that Amazon, with which Allen has a production deal, announced it would be shelving A Rainy Day in New York, the film starring Timmy, Elle Fanning, and Selena Gomez. (Remember those scenes of Timmy and Selena making out? I ship it so, so hard, tbh!) So this means that the movie prominently featuring rain, Timothée Chalamet, Selena Gomez, and New York—some of my favorite things—may never actually come out.

For his part, TimCha seems to regret agreeing to the project in the first place in light of the allegations. In January, after fielding questions about why he chose to work with Allen, Timmy announced on Instagram he would donate his salary from the film to Time’s Up, the LGBTQ Center in New York, and RAINN, an anti-sexual assault nonprofit:

(He also said he couldn’t talk about why he made to decision to work with him, despite Farrow’s allegations being out in the open for years, because of “contractual obligations,” which...okay?)

Whatever happens with the fate of this film, take heart: Timmy will be in many movies going forward because he is a talented young man.

Emma Watson is replacing Emma Stone in Little Women, which makes her Timothée's new costar

No offense to Emma Stone, who is delightful, but I am positively thrilled with the news that Emma Watson is set to replace her in Greta Gerwig’s highly-anticipated (by me) adaptation of Little Women. Turns out, Stone couldn't get out of promotion for another movie The Favourite.

Here are three reasons I am excited about this news:

• Hermione!
• Watson isn’t in enough movies, if you ask me. Like, Beauty and the Beast was good but where has she really been since?
• I love her support of feminist causes and I think all celebrities should be as vocal as Watson is. Like, the woman interviewed bell hooks for goodness sake.

Plus, this just adds to the assertion that this movie is going to be really heartwarming bone-structure porn.

A Noah Centineo vs. Timothée Chalamet battle is brewing.

...on Twitter. As we discussed last week, Noah Centineo—breakout star of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and future star of Sierra Burgess Is a Loser (making him the rom-com leading man du jour, a la Tom Hanks in the '90s)—is the internet’s new boyfriend.

I’m of the mindset that it’s really “the more the merrier” when it comes to having obsessive crushes on celebrity strangers, but apparently Twitter is a bit more hard-nosed and keeps asking people to commit to a heartthrob.

First of all, rude! Second, the data is inconclusive.

Observe the first notable tweet that floated this premise, which asked people to Retweet for Noah Centineo and Like for Timothée Chalamet:

The results showed Timmy with over 700 Likes, to Noah’s hundred or so Retweets (at the time of publication). But later that day, there was a twist when a different person posed the same question slightly differently:

When it came to Retweet for Timmy and Like for Noah, Noah was in the lead.

Does this show one fandom is stronger than the other? Has Noah surpassed Timmy in Internet Boyfriend status? Or is this merely proof that people are way more comfortable Liking a tweet than Retweeting it because we're all inherently commitment-phobic?

I’m gonna go with the latter. But for the record, I have the facts and I’m voting for “They Should Just Kiss Each Other.”

Greta Gerwig's highly-anticipated Little Women adaptation just underwent a casting shakeup. Emma Watson is reportedly joining the cast, taking on a role originally intended for Emma Stone, Variety reports.

According to Variety's sources, Stone was unable to commit to Little Women because of promotional obligations for her upcoming Fox Searchlight film, award season contender The Favourite.

Tragically, there is no word let on which of the March sisters Watson will be playing. She will, however, be joining a thoroughly star-studded cast, which is reportedly set to include Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, and Florence Pugh (all of whom are apparently "in negotiations" to star).

Ronan and Chalamet, of course, starred in Gerwig's critically-acclaimed directorial debut, Lady Bird, and we have a hunch they've been tapped to play Meg and Laurie, respectively. As for the Emmas, the smart money is on their role being the main character, Jo. And, if Meryl comes through and signs on (please, please, please let that happen), she'll probably play Marmee a.k.a Mrs. March, but she could also slay as Aunt March. Really, with all of the talent being courted for the project, there's no wrong combination of actors and characters in this lineup.

If you need a little reminder of how glorious a good Little Women adaptation can be, watch the trailer for the 1994 version (which starred a slew of '90s A-listers, including Winona Ryder, Susan Sarandon, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, and Christian Bale):

We officially cannot wait for this movie.

Emma Watson has come a long way since her not-so-humble beginnings as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise. Since breaking onto the scene as everyone's favorite witch, Watson has branched out, trying her hand at everything from animated films to thrillers, and starring in indie favorites and certified blockbusters alike. So, on that note, here's the definitive ranking of her films—from worst to best.

1. 'Colonia'

Colonia's premise had promise—with Watson starring as a young woman who infiltrates Colonia Dignidad (an ex-Nazi cult that nobody ever escaped from) in an attempt to rescue her boyfriend. The movie didn't really come together, however, and was pretty much universally panned by critics.

2. 'Regression'

Regression was Watson's attempt at a mysterious thriller, but, sadly, it wasn't as mysterious or thrilling as fans might have hoped. Don't give up though, Em. We still think you have a dark, twisty thriller in you. 

3. 'The Circle'

Thriller attempt No. 2 did not go so well either. The Circle, based on the Dave Eggers novel of the same name, wanted to be a topical, tech-y film about the dangers of social mega-corps like Google. Unfortunately, watching someone be way too into social media is about as interesting on screen as it is in real life. Still, the movie teamed Watson up with actors like Tom Hanks, John Boyega, Patton Oswalt, and Karen Gillan, so the cast gets an A+.

4. 'The Tale of Despereaux'

Watson's first non-Potter film was animated, and at that point we were all just excited to see her outside of the wizarding world. It's a perfectly fine kids' movie, but that's about it.

5. 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'

Speaking of perfectly fine kids' movies, it's time to talk about the first Harry Potter film. Sorcerer's Stone was a huge deal for Potterheads when it came out, but the tone is decidedly more silly and childish than future Potter movies, and the CGI is legitimately cringeworthy.

6. 'This Is the End'

This Is the End was a funny movie and Watson is good in it—offering proof that she needs to lean into her natural talent for comedy. That said, one of her main scenes is an extended rape joke, and it didn't age super well.

7. 'Noah'

Watson went for biblically big drama in Darren Aronofsky's Noah, a grand retelling of the story of Noah's Ark. She does a great job in the movie, but it's a weirdly forgettable entry in her filmography, considering the scope.

8. 'Beauty and the Beast'

Watson's Beauty and the Beast was one of the top-grossing movies of 2017 and put her on the map as a leading lady in her own right. There's plenty to like about it—but not enough to outrank most of the Harry Potter franchise, TBH. Watson's singing is so-so and even though the film is an almost shot-for-shot recreation of the animated version, it fails to capture the charm and magic of the original, or add anything new to the story.

9. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Remember when Hermione solved the entire mystery of this book chapters before the end, and all she got for her efforts was being petrified and stuck in a hospital wing? Story of her life. Still, watching Hermione show off some mega-smarts earns this one a high-ish ranking.

10. 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'

The scene where Hermione walks down the stairs at the Yule Ball looking confident and fabulous AF earned a cheer from overlooked bookworms everywhere. Oh, and the movie also marked a turning point for the Harry Potter franchise—big deaths, things getting real, and whatnot.

11. 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower'

After Potter, Watson chopped her iconic Hermione locks into a pixie and decided to try her hand at being an indie-teen darling. Her American accent left something to be desired, but we got to see a different side of her as an actress, and that's worth something.

12. 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'

Dumblerdore's Army forever.

13. 'The Bling Ring'

Watson teamed up with the legendary Sofia Coppola for this movie, based on the real-life group of teen burglars known in the media as "The Bling Ring." The movie was also the first time we got to see Watson stretch her comedic chops and, frankly, we'd like to see more of that in the future.

14. 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'

This is one of the best Harry Potter film adaptations, but when it comes to Hermione, loses points for being mostly about her unrequited crush on Ron. Meh.

15. 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1'

Just watch Hermione wipe herself from her parents' memories and try not to tear up. It's some of Watson's best and most subtle work in the Harry Potter movies.

16. 'My Week With Marilyn' 

Yes, this was a small, supporting role for Watson, but she nailed it and managed to command the screen as part of a deeply impressive ensemble cast. It's probably some of her best acting to date and the movie is a joy to watch as well. A+ all around.

17. 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2'

The drama, the action sequences, the fans-were-waiting-for-it-forever kiss with Ron—yes to all of it.

18. 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'

Prisoner of Azkaban is a common favorite among Harry Potter book-readers and movie-watchers alike. It's also the ultimate Hermione-Granger-Being-a-Total-Badass movie. She manipulates time, takes a million classes, saves the day, and STRAIGHT UP PUNCHES MALFOY IN THE FACE. It will be hard to ever dethrone this one from the top spot, honestly.

When you bring to life beloved, iconic characters like Hermione Granger and Belle, having young fans just comes with the territory. And those young fans have QUESTIONS for Emma Watson.

Entertainment Weekly collected some of the best kid questions out there for Emma to answer and, yeah, it's as adorable as it sounds. The cute video brings us answers to burning questions like, who would win a battle: Harry Potter or Darth Vader?

The cutest moment comes courtesy of five-year-old Amira, whose question was for Belle, not Emma. And yep, Emma answered in character as Belle because she GETS IT.

Lately it seems like not a day goes by without news that a well-known female celebrity has been the victim of a photo hack—Emma Watson, Demi Lovato, and Amanda Seyfriend in the past month alone. It's a profoundly depressing, gross, and sexist situation.

Too often, the narratives surrounding these leaks point blame—even just subtly—at the victims, as if it's somehow wrong (or even remotely abnormal) to have nude pictures on your phone. For the record, it's not.

Taking a picture of your naked body isn't an abnormal or immoral thing to do, and it certainly shouldn't be a forfeiture of privacy. In fact, blaming the victims of photo hacks for the violation of their own privacy is absurd—as it implies that having a body (and the audacity to love and celebrate that body) is inherently wrong. It also implies that innocent people should police their private, harmless behavior instead of focusing on the fact that criminals shouldn't commit crimes.

But this is the world we live in. A world where privacy is a right that's frequently violated, and in which people—especially young women—are targeted explicitly.

In the case of celebrity hacks, the way in has typically been iCloud. This was the case in 2014's infamous "Fappening" hack, in which nude photos of stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and Kirsten Dunst were stolen and leaked. While it's not clear yet just how the latest round of hacks were executed, the cloud is a likely culprit.

So how do you protect yourself from a cloud-based photo hack? Here are a few steps you can (and should) take.

1. Review your cloud storage settings—and know what they mean.

Whether you're an iPhone or Android user, your photos may be automatically saving to the nebulous "cloud." Check your settings to make sure you haven't been opted into cloud storage without realizing it.

On iPhone, go to Settings > iCloud > Photos. Within the Photos tab, you'll have the option to turn on or off three different iCloud photo services: iCloud Photo Library, My Photo Stream, and iCloud Photo Sharing. Read the descriptions of each carefully, and decide if you're comfortable opting in.

On Android devices, open the Google Photos app and tap the menu icon in the top left corner. From there, go to Settings > Back up & sync, and turn the feature off if you don't want your photos automatically backed up in your Google account.

2. Check your cloud storage account online to see what's in there.

Sign in to your iCloud or Google Photos account online to see which of your photos (if any) have been automatically backed up, and delete anything you don't want living online.

3. Use password best practices.

Passwords are a pain—and increasingly so in a time when we're starting to use our fingerprints to unlock phones and approve app purchases. But they're a necessary evil, and easy passwords make you vulnerable. Choosing to use a weak password is like choosing to close your door but not lock your deadbolt.

We all know the rules of strong passwords—they should be long (preferably 12 characters or longer—we know); they should contain a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters; and they shouldn't be obvious, meaningful words (like the pet names and birthdays—or even real words, if you can avoid it).

In addition to crafting strong passwords, you should use a different password for every account, and change your passwords frequently (every 10 weeks is ideal).

4. Consider enabling two-factor authentication.

There's a good chance two-factor authentication (2FA) is the bane of your work-password existence, but there's a good reason many companies require it. As its name suggests, 2FA adds a second step to your log-in process and a second layer to your account security.

In addition to entering a username and password, users with 2FA are required to enter an additional piece of information, often a unique code that generates with each log-in attempt. The second code is frequently sent to users via text or generated in an app on their smartphone.

Protect yourself and your friends—share this story with anyone you think might need it.

Hands up if you're still nursing a confusing crush on Simba from Lion King. You are not alone friends, and this is a safe space (actually that's a lie: this is the internet and your attraction to animated lions will definitely be judged).

But anyway, much like (some of) the rest of the world, Emma Watson is here for hot animated characters—including Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia.

"Aslan, in Narnia? I found the lion quite hot," she said during an interview with Yahoo. "Is that wrong? Is that okay? Probably not...No... It's not okay... It's not okay... I'm getting shaking heads. It happens. Sometimes animals in films are hot. I don't know what to say. That's where we're at."

In fact, much like her on-screen character in Beauty and the Beast, Watson also admitted that she's more attracted to Beast than his human alter-ego:

"There's something a bit sad about when he transforms," she said. "You're like a bit...oh...okay you were quite nice before. He is hot. The Beast is hot."

When Emma Watson talks fashion, words like "sustainable" and "eco-friendly" come up a lot. And, while this will probably surprise zero people who know much about her, she doesn't just talk the talk. She walks the walk and then some.

Watson recently opened up her closet for Coveteur, and told them that she's been paring down her wardrobe as she moves toward only buying and wearing sustainable fashion. The result? An enviably low-key closet.

"[Becoming conscious about dressing] has been incredibly liberating in a funny way," she explained. "It's narrowed my options so much, I'm so much more creative. I actually really think it's helped me dress better because I have less, but they're things that are perfect."

The fact that Watson's wardrobe looks so perfectly Instagrammable isn't really a coincidence. The actress told Coveteur that she's turned to the social media platform more and more recently when shopping because it's a great place to discover sustainable brands. Remember that next time you have to defend your app addiction.

"I think so much more carefully about what I buy, and I buy less because I edit so carefully," she said. "I'm tending to shop online a lot more; I use Instagram [to shop] a lot more than I used to, because I find lots of brands through it. I would often find I was going into stores and feel like, 'Oh, I've only got an hour, I need to buy something, this isn't what I came in for but it's here, so I'll purchase it.' I never do that now."

These days, Emma Watson is a walking eco-friendly best dressed list. But back in 2001, at her very first red carpet, Watson was...well, as fashion-challenged as any 11 year old.

At the premiere for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (aka Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to American fans), Watson wore a floor-length, short-sleeved grey dress, purple boots, and a feather boa.

When Watson stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote Beauty and the Beast, Ellen forced her to face her ghost of fashion past head-on.

"Oh wow, this was special," Emma said of the look. "This was my first ever movie premiere, and my mom and I planned this for weeks. It doesn't look like it but there was a lot of thought going into this. I thought I looked amazing by the way. Bless me."

Emma Watson has done great work for the United Nations in her role as a Goodwill Ambassador. According to E! Online, the actress and activist recently visited New York to give a speech about equal rights as part of her ongoing HeForShe campaign.

Watson's captivating speech called for universities to provide true equality for women and minorities and to make it clear that their safety is a "a right and not a privilege." It was a moving and important speech, but not everyone was impressed.

Rod Liddle, a reporter for The Sun, took Watson's speech as a chance to ridicule her and her cause. Louise Ridley tweeted a picture of the offensive blurb.

There's a lot wrong with Liddle's commentary, beginning with the fact that he addresses Watson as "Hermione Granger" (her fictional character from the Harry Potter series) before acknowledging her by name.

He went on to suggest that Watson should "stick to telling [people] the rules of quidditch or how to turn someone into a frog" and assert that she "bored" the UN assembly with her "whining, leftie, PC crap."

Luckily, Liddle's opinion isn't shared by most people. Watson is an intelligent, outspoken feminist and her HeForShe campaign has inspired 1,302,682,254 gender equality actions as of this writing. We're sure she won't let bullies—even those that write for newspapers—slow her down.

My three children were born three years apart. That didn't happen by accident. Like most women I know, I used contraceptives.

More than 99 percent of women in the U.S. have used contraceptives at one point or another to plan their families and take charge of their futures. Thanks to contraceptives, I was able to wait to start my family until I'd finished graduate school, gotten married, and devoted nearly a decade to getting my career off the ground. Contraceptives made it possible for me to accomplish the goals I'd set for myself—and to be the mom I'd always wanted to be.

But not everyone has the access that I have.

I feel lucky to live in a country where, thanks to the hard-fought efforts of generations of advocates, contraceptives and reproductive health counseling can be easy to obtain from a doctor's office or clinic. As I've learned on my trips overseas with our foundation, this is not something to be taken for granted.

There are still 225 million women who want to time, space out, or avoid a pregnancy—but don't have access to modern contraceptives. I've met women who tell me they have no doctor or health worker to offer them services, no clinic they can rely on for check-ups—no options at all. Without a way to plan or delay their pregnancies, women's quality of life, educational opportunities, earning power, and health all suffer.

But, four years ago, something unprecedented happened: A global partnership of governments, nonprofits, and private sector companies pledged to work together to enable 120 million more women to access contraceptives by 2020. This partnership, called Family Planning 2020, is working to support 69 of the world's poorest countries—expanding family planning services and counseling, strengthening supply chains so women have access to their preferred contraceptive method, and gathering the data to make sure no woman is falling through the cracks.

Unfortunately, our efforts haven't yet caught up to our ambition. Even though we're halfway to our deadline, we are not on track to meet our goal—and women who are counting on us are being left behind.

Many of us know from our own experiences just how essential contraceptives are to helping us live the healthy, fulfilled, and empowered lives they deserve. I asked six women who inspire me to share their stories about the role contraceptives have played in their own lives.

"I have used birth control on and off for 15 years and for many reasons: painful periods (eventually diagnosed as endometriosis), acne that made me sheepish, and (most essential) the freedom to decide if and when I want to be a mother. I was lucky to go to schools where condoms were provided and have parents and doctors who didn't question why I needed this protection. Women cannot and will not be equal citizens until we can control our reproductive lives fully. It's a right, not a privilege, to have the power of prevention and choice."

Joannie Bewa

Doctor and Founder, Young Beninese Leaders Association

"If I didn't have access to contraception, maybe I would already have two or three children. I would not be able to continue my studies. I would not be a medical doctor by now. I would not be an activist fighting for girls and women's rights and health. I would not have all of the possibilities to pursue my education. I would not be able to be independent. For that, it's very critical and urgent to make sure that everyone can have access to contraception. Because women can deliver not only babies, they can deliver really good ideas for development, good policies, strong health systems."

"I felt empowered and responsible when I first sought out contraceptives. With each choice I made after that, I knew I was taking care of myself, and my sexual and reproductive health needs as they evolved. As a mother of two healthy children, my hope is that they, too, will make responsible decisions about their own bodies and lives and that they feel as compelled as I am to protect reproductive rights for all. As an advocate for safer motherhood, I know first-hand the difference this makes for women and their families all over the world."

"Growing up, I saw my cousins and neighbors drop out of school and say farewell to their aspirations because they got pregnant as teenagers–all resulting from a lack of access to contraceptive information and services. I decided to do what I can to help women and girls in my community make informed decisions about their health and future. Some think contraceptive access should be solely for married people, but this needs to be dispelled if young people are to be a force in shaping their society. This is our need and right."

"Having access to contraceptives empowers women to determine their own lives. I am grateful to the women in my life who have discussed these things with me openly and informally, but this tended to happen more when I got older and I wish I had been around those kind of conversations younger. I also think the sex education I had at school was important.

By exercising their personal choices and taking control of their own bodies, women will hopefully be able to learn better, work better, and choose safe and fulfilling relationships. A world where women were empowered in this way, I believe, would make a huge difference."

"When I was 19, instead of a high school diploma, I got a positive pregnancy test. It was a very difficult time for me. I went to live with my son's father, but he died shortly after my son turned one. That's when life began—and things were really, really hard. But after my son was born, I went to a family planning clinic to ask about condoms. The nurse took me in and explained everything to me. She's why I began using contraceptives, and she's why I became a volunteer at the health facility. Now, I know I went through all the hard times so that other girls would be spared. I've started an organization to raise awareness about teenage pregnancy and help girls protect their futures. When I talk to other teenage moms, I tell them, we didn't get to plan our first child, but we should definitely plan for our second. If we lose our teenage girls to pregnancy, who will be the leaders of tomorrow?"

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is here, and (as expected) black actress Noma Dumezweni absolutely slayed as Hermione. Just ask Emma Watson, who attended the June 7 performance, and was completely mind-blown. "I came in with no idea what to expect and it was AMAZING," Emma wrote on Facebook. "Some things about the play were, I think, possibly even more beautiful than the films."

Our bodies are so ready. But the best part about this whole thing is the fact that Emma met Noma back stage for a Hermione love fest. "Meeting Noma and seeing her on stage was like meeting my older self and have her tell me everything was going to be alright, which as you can imagine was immensely comforting (and emotional)!" she wrote. "The cast and crew welcomed me like I was family and Noma was everything I could ever hope she would be. She's wonderful."

We know, we know, pics or it didn't happen, so on that note:

While Noma certainly doesn't need her predecessor's approval, this moment will hopefully influence the (ahem, super racist) Harry Potter fans out there who were distressed by her casting. And while we've noted this before, it bears pointing out once again that Hermione was not written as a white character. Actually, we'll let J.K. Rowling speak for us on this one:

Emma Watson has come under fire for an old commercial she filmed for Lancôme, and it looks like she's erring on the side of an apology. Sorta. 

The Harry Potter actress and active feminist filmed a Lancôme commercial for the Asian market back in 2013, but it's currently making the rounds online and drawing some criticism from people who have legitimate concerns about the concept of skin-lightening—not to mention skin-lightening products being promoted by white women.

Lancôme's take on the issue? "Blanc Expert was created by Lancôme 20 years ago," the company tells Refinery29. "It helps brighten, evens skin tone, and provides a healthy-looking complexion. This kind of product, proposed by every brand, is an essential part of Asian women's beauty routines."

While Lancôme's statement maintains that Blanc Expert is less a lightening product and more of an evening product (shades of grey?), Emma Watson's rep implied that she'd withdrawn her name from the campaign due to the fact that it doesn't represent all women.

"I cannot comment on my client's previous contractual arrangements with Lancôme," the rep said in a statement. "However, my client no longer participates in advertising beauty products, which do not always reflect the diverse beauty of all women."

The issue of skin lightening versus skin evening is definitely one that deserves to be parsed through, but that aside, it's clear that Emma Watson isn't comfortable representing a product that does either.

It seems that every day, Emma Watson becomes more and more our beacon of (feminist) light. In a new interview with Esquire UK, the 25-year-old actress tackles everything from equal pay to the term "feminist" to sexism. And the whole interview is clearly a ploy to make us love her even more, which we never thought possible. 

"We are not supposed to talk about money, because people will think you're "difficult" or a "diva". But there's a willingness now to be like, "Fine. Call me a 'diva', call me a 'feminazi', call me 'difficult', call me a "First World feminist', call me whatever you want, it's not going to stop me from trying to do the right thing and make sure that the right thing happens." Because it doesn't just affect me, it affects all the other women who are in this with me, and it affects all the other men who are in this with me, too. 

Hollywood is just a small piece of a gigantic puzzle but it's in the spotlight. Whether you are a woman on a tea plantation in Kenya, or a stockbroker on Wall Street, or a Hollywood actress, no one is being paid equally."

"There are misconceptions about the word. The way it is constructed—it's obviously got 'feminine' in the word—immediately pushes men away from it, because they think, "Oh, it's got nothing to do with me." Also, they have this idea that it is about women competing with men, or being against men, or wanting to be men, which is a huge misconception."

"I've had my arse slapped as I've left a room. I've felt scared walking home. I've had people following me. I don't talk about these experiences much, because coming from me they'll sound like a huge deal and I don't want this to be about me, but most women I know have experienced it and worse...this is unfortunately how it is."

In a move that would make Hermione proud, Emma Watson is taking a year off from acting to focus on being a feminist. Her plan? To read one book a week, starting with Gloria Steinem's My Life On The Road.

Emma recently interviewed Gloria at the Emmanuel Centre in London, and they chatted about a number of important topics, including eyebrow insecurity—something we can all relate to.

"I used to hate that I had strong eyebrows," Emma said. "As a 9-year-old, I desperately wanted to pluck them and make them two thin lines. You come to embrace these things. My mother desperately tried to tell me that they gave my face character."

Gloria's response? "Our bodies are instruments, not ornaments. We should celebrate our different shapes and sizes, our Caesarean scars and all the other beautiful imperfections that make us who we are. I hope every woman in this room goes home tonight, looks in the mirror, and says, 'Yes, this is fan-f*cking-tastic!'"

On it, Gloria. And speaking of people who are eyebrow proud, Emma admitted she has more in common with her Harry Potter alter ego Hermione Granger than she used to admit. "I feel as though I spent a long time trying to pretend I was not like Hermione," she said. "And, of course, I was rather like Hermione. I've finally come to accept the fact."

Hermione is basically the Hillary Clinton of Hogwarts (she gets sh*t done and is also a wizard), so it's safe to say that having something in common with her is a good thing.

Update, 1/26: Uh, how far in advance can you preorder movie tickets? Asking for me, because Emma Watson's got a new movie coming out, and it looks like the sort of historical thriller a girl could *really* get into. 

The international trailer for Colonia probably blew your mind—if not, keep scrolling and give it another go—so now, we proudly bring you two exclusive pieces of new information to add to the buildup: A) the release date (April 15) and B) the official poster, in which Lena bravely knocks on the door of the secret Nazi-cult compound where her boyfriend's being held and probably having unspeakable things done to him. Original story, 9/16: Like Liam Neeson with cuter outfits and a less keen interest in electrocution (I think), Emma Watson's Lena puts herself in harm's way/voluntarily joins a secret Nazi cult/runs in heels a lot to rescue a loved one from a less-than-ideal situation.

In Colonia, set during the Chilean military coup of 1973, Lena finds her mission when Pinochet's secret police abduct "her man" (barf) and remove him to an isolated torture center disguised as a village where all the inhabitants wear Bavarian costumes and the décor can best be described as "maximum-security prison." A creepy preacher dude also lives there; you get the feeling he is responsible for all the human-rights abuses they show onscreen and more.

So do they make it out or not? The movie is based on true events, so the spoilers are right there in the history books.

Labeling yourself a "feminist" simply means that you believe in equal rights for men and women. Yet the word continues to be tiptoed around, even by the HeForShe gender equality campaign.

In an interview with PORTER, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson says HeForShe asked her not to use the term "feminism" for fear that it might be too polarizing.

"I was encouraged not to use the word 'feminism' because people felt that it was alienating and separating and the whole idea of the speech was to include as many people as possible," she said. "But I thought long and hard and ultimately felt that it was just the right thing to do. If women are terrified to use the word, how on earth are men supposed to start using it?"

Amen to that. "I actually do have things that I want to say and I want to be my most authentic self," the 25-year-old explained. "I'm very interested in truth, in finding ways to be messy and unsure and flawed and incredible and great and my fullest self, all wrapped into one."

HeForShe's concern that "feminism" is an alienating term is understandable, but we love that Emma decided to do use the term anyway. Her decision to embrace feminism—the word—rather than couch its meaning in more palatable language helped make the fight for gender equality more widespread. In other words, she made the right call.

In a move that's sure to traumatize all walks of Harry Potter fandom (especially hardcore fans who play Quidditch IRL), Emma Watson just threw shade at Hermione Granger.

The 25-year-old actress played Hermione for a decade, and a hallmark of her character—at least according to JK Rowling—is "lots of bushy brown hair." Watson's own locks had to look the part for Harry Potter's film adaptation, and apparently she wasn't on board.

"When I see the images again from the first Harry Potter I immediately think how bad my hair was," she tells Vogue Italia. "It is always surprising for me, to see how long this period of time is, where I have come and from where I started. It is pleasant to follow that journey." 

Hermione is often lauded as a strong role model who doesn't care about her looks when there important things to think about (house elf emancipation, anyone?), but let's not forget that Emma Watson isn't her character. Guess she wants her hair to be on point just like the rest of us non-wizards—which, to be clear, does not conflict with her feminist values.

On November 4, 2015, Emma Watson and Malala Yousafzai sat, like, two feet away from each other. That along would be news, but they talked! About Yousafzai's documentary and equality and education and feminism and how annoying their brothers can be! AND IT WAS GLORIOUS. *expires from overexposure to glory* *resurrects self to finish this story*

In a Facebook post every bit as starry-eyed as this article (deal with it), Watson commends Yousafzai for her determination and recalls a pivotal moment from the conversation, which she never expected to happen.

"To give you some background, I had initially planned to ask Malala whether or not she was a feminist but then researched to see whether she had used this word to describe herself," Watson wrote. "Having seen that she hadn't, I decided to take the question out before the day of our interview. To my utter shock Malala put the question back into one of her own answers and identified herself. Maybe feminist isn't the easiest word to use...But she did it ANYWAY. You can probably see in the interview how I felt about this."

Ahem. It is very gratifying to see not only these two brilliant young women discussing their advocacy but also the public's response to their work. Sometimes, using numbers to point out the obvious makes an argument all the more compelling, said me or my stats teacher. And Emma Watson did just that recently by answering a question about sexism in Hollywood with some straight-up numerical facts.

"I have experienced sexism in that I have been directed by male directors 17 times and only twice by women. Of the producers I've worked with 13 have been male and only one has been a woman," she told The Guardian. 

"But I am lucky: I have always insisted on being treated equally and have generally won that equality," she continued. "Most of the problems I have encountered have been in the media, where I have been treated so incredibly differently from my male co-stars."

"I think my work with the UN has probably made me even more aware of the problems. I went out for a work dinner recently. It was seven men…and me," she said.

So what's the answer to get more women in Hollywood, especially when the stats are so bleak? It seems for many women, it's about using your power once you get to the top—Zoe Saldana and Reese Witherspoon have both started production companies, Meryl Streep is producing a screenwriting workshop for women, and Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence just said "f*ck this" and are writing their next project for themselves. 

Which is to say, I'm here, Emma, whenever you decide to do another project. (Or just want to eat a meal with woman in the mix.)

Update, 7/31: That went by so fast, but yay! We're just a little bit closer to getting to watch Beauty and the Beast, which, if you've forgotten, has the *most* killer ensemble.

To commemorate their last day shooting, Josh Gad/Gaston's sidekick posted this cute Instagram with Luke Evans.  

Then Gaston himself upped the bromance with a hashtag that launched a thousand fan fics. 

But keep your eyes on the prize—the snowy, swirly staircase—okay? Did they make it winter so the stabbing would be more dramatic? Or did they film the learning-how-to-read-while-falling-in-love sequence last? Sigh. We'll find out in AN ETERNITY, AKA March 2017.

Update, 4/22: Is Beauty and the Beast the most well-cast movie of all time? Can they give out an award for that?

According to Variety, Stanley Tucci has closed a deal to play the neurotic grand piano Cadenza. If you're racking your brain right now trying to remember an anxious Bösendorfer from the animated version, relax—there wasn't one. Cadenza is a new character created especially for the live-action BATB who will probably be temperamental and hilarious and kind of like Nigel from the Devil Wears Prada.

In other, less exciting news: The film has set a release date of March 17, 2017. There will surely be loads more updates before then, but that's such a long way away. :(

Update, 4/21: When will the madness end?!!!! Hopefully never because, TBH, it's Beauty and the Beast news that keeps me going.

In the latest casting development, Ewan McGregor is reportedly in final talks to join the awesome people below as Lumiere, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Because Cogsworth/Ian McKellen already confirmed this will be a movie musical extravaganza like no other, we can expect McGregor will have some songs and dance routines to learn. But Moulin Rouge, guys! And that one movie with Renee Zellwegger! So he's all set to play a smooth-operator candelabra who might be French or Scottish depending on how homogenous they want the accents to be. Yay!

Update, 4/16: Ian McKellan wasn't holding court over the cast of Beauty and Beast after all—he was busy writing a touching description of their first table read together, which he published on Facebook late Wednesday.

There was apparently dancing, singing, white roses, Alan Menken songs, crying, and a standing ovation at the end. Most magical set atmosphere ever? You bet.

There's Josh Gad (Le Fou), Dan Stevens (the Beast), Emma Watson (duh), Luke Evans (Gaston), and Kevin Kline (Maurice). But where's Emma T.? And Ian? HAVE THEY STARTED A SUPER EXCLUSIVE CLIQUE ALREADY?! So many questions, yet so, so happy about this.

Update, 4/14: It pains me to refer to Sir Ian McKellen as "a Lord of the Rings star," but that's probably how most people know him, right?

The ultra, ultra accomplished and venerable English actor has signed on as Cogsworth, according to the Hollywood Reporter and confirmed by Gandalf himself with some adorable word play:

Update, 3/16: Calling it now: Beauty and the Beast for Best Motion Picture of All Time because the cast is just that good.

In a statement to People, Disney announced that Emma Thompson will be playing Mrs. Potts, den mother of the Beast's sentient kitchen utensils and literal mother of Chip, who will no doubt be played by an adorable, unknown child actor. Also joining the two Emmas, Dan Stevens, and Luke Evans are Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle's father and madcap inventor, and Josh Gad as Gaston's minion Le Fou.

What's next? Helen Mirren as the wardrobe? Léa Seydoux as the saucy feather duster? ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Oh, and you might want to keep March 17, 2017 free.

Update, 3/5: There's nothing else to say about this but, "AHHHHHHHHH!!!"

Dan Stevens, the guy who left Downton too soon, will be playing the Beast to Emma Watson's Belle in the live-action remake of the classic movie. He teased the news on Twitter on Wednesday, which Watson confirmed herself Thursday.

Watson also welcomed Luke Evans from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug as the villain Gaston earlier today.

This is going to be so good, right? Can't wait, can't wait, CAN'T WAIT!
