The 2025 Emmys red carpet could have felt like déjà vu for Shrinking star Jessica Williams. This year, like last year, she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. For both carpets, she and stylist Sarah Slutsky turned to Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte for a gown fitting the occasion. Yet the overall aura of Williams's look outside the Peacock Theater on September 14 felt like a 180-degree shift; a total vibe reset. This, Williams tells me in an email the morning after the awards ceremony, was intentional.

"The first time I was nominated was mind blowing and shocking. It was the first season of Shrinking so I had no idea how it would be received," she recalls. "This second time around, not only am I nominated, but so is our whole show. And that brings me so much joy. I feel lighter and excited. I wanted that to reflect this time around."

The dress that best reflects Williams's mindset now was a blush pink, off-the-shoulder gown fit for a mythical goddess. Intricate swathes of fabric criss-crossed over the actress's torso and down into a flowing skirt. A train cascaded from over her arms and onto the floor like a peony waterfall. Where her 2024 Emmys gown was regal and stately in its structure—a strapless black number with a flash of white at the sculpturally rounded skirt—her 2025 dress was purposefully, powerfully soft.

Williams sums up her dress in two words: "ethereal and simple." At this year's Emmys, "I just wanted to feel like my look was easy but somewhat glamorous," she says. She'd surprised herself in 2024. In 2025, she was dressing to show up like someone who knew she'd be on the nominees list.

On Emmys morning, bringing the full look together began with her "gorgeous and glowy" makeup by Armani Beauty. "I wanted Jessica to feel glowing and soft, with an elegance that enhances her natural beauty," makeup artist Cherish Brooke Hill says. Williams describes the look—starting with Armani Beauty Skin Tint and layering up with the label's Luminous Silk Foundation and Luminous Silk Concealer—as "skin forward and a bit ethereal."

Her lit-from-within glow continued with coordinating eye and lip products: "For my lip I used the gorgeous Lip Power in 503 and for light shimmer on my eye we used the Eye Tint in 44S," Williams says.

Hair stylist SherriAnn Cole then gathered Williams's braids into a low bun, with wisps of fabric from her gown tied into her up-do. "This delicate braided style was directly inspired by the gathered draping of her dress, creating harmony between her hairstyle and the elegance of her look on the carpet," Cole says.

Later in the night, Williams would end up changing out of her fairytale Rodarte gown into a mint green sequin dress by Gasanova. "It’s stunning, has gentle shine, and is so comfortable that I can move and dance—which is the most important part of an after-party look for me," she says.

While she'd eventually switch up her palette, the end result is the same. From gown to gown and carpet to carpet, Jessica Williams says she just wants to "feel something" through fashion. "I want to have fun and reflect a mood. No matter what it is." This year, the tone she's striking is palpable.

For an Emmy nominee, after-party attire undergoes the same sourcing process as a ceremony gown. Why? Photo ops increase tenfold once a star accepts a trophy. Such was the case for newly-minted Emmy winner, Cristin Milioti.

The 2025 Emmys wrapped around 11 p.m. ET, but for celebrity guests, the night was far from over. Stars bolted from L.A.'s Peacock Theater to one of five after-parties (rumor has it, there were more). Milioti chose a party hosted byThe Penguin's home network, HBO Max, to celebrate her first Emmy from the comic-book crime drama.

Inside San Vicente Bungalows in West Hollywood, she posed for photographers with her gold award in tow. Stylist Bailey Moon swapped Milioti's velvet Danielle Frankel gown in ruby red for all-black after-hours attire. I suspect the oversize leather jacket featured Saint Laurent tags. Everything from the popped collar to the ruched hem felt aligned with the French label's Spring 2025 collection. Plus, it reminded me of another Milioti look from early August, courtesy of Saint Laurent. Nothing is confirmed yet, but either way, Milioti kept the moto bomber on all night long.

Milioti elevated the Hailey Bieber street style staple with a skintight mini skirt. It featured an elongated, bustle-type train, which flowed behind her as she walked. Black polka-dot tights were both fun and on-trend—the pattern is having another moment at New York Fashion Week, thanks to Tibi, Altuzarra, and Khaite's Fall 2025 lines.

To no surprise, HBO Max hosted one of the buzziest after-parties of the evening. Milioti's fellow winner, Hannah Einbinder, posed in front of the same burgundy curtain. She also went the noir route with a luxe little black dress. (Olivia Rodrigo styled a similar babydoll dress at the same soirée.)

Stylist Jamie Mizrahi curated the post-show look for Einbinder, pairing a sweetheart-shaped mini with semi-sheer tights and patent leather sandals. A single bangle, hoop earrings, and her trophy acted as her only accessories. What more did she need?

Unless you have a stellar stylist on speed dial, the likelihood of channeling Milioti's ceremony gown is slim to none. Her after-party 'fit, on the other hand, is much more doable.

From the creators of the cunty little bob, we introduce: Leslie Bibb in rich bitch blonde. On September 14, The White Lotus actress attended the 2025 Emmys with her partner, Sam Rockwell, by her side. For the occasion, she wore her signature chin-length haircut paired with a stunning strapless black gown. Her beauty details were minimal and elegant, with her opting for short, milk bath nails and a sheer cranberry lip. This allowed me to focus on my favorite part of her ensemble, her stunning hair color.

First, let’s talk about the style. Bibb’s hair was straightened before being parted to one of the biggest trends of the night, the side part. Then, gel was applied to the right side of the style before it was tucked behind her ear. This allowed the rest of the look to serve as a sort of faux bang, highlighting Bibb’s perfectly dimensional blonde hair color, courtesy of Schwarzkopf.

The shade is the “ultimate transitional hue for fall,” says Tracey Cunningham, the brand’s U.S. Creative Director of Color & Technique, in a press release. “It’s effortlessly wearable, with a slightly deeper root that makes it easy to go lighter or darker and allows for more time between salon visits.”

The 2025 Emmys red carpet marked a night of firsts for Nobody Wants This star Justine Lupe. It was the first time Lupe could RSVP "Yes," in celebration of the Netflix romantic comedy's three nominations. It was the first time she spent a Sunday getting into Emmys glam with stylist Rebecca Ramsey, makeup artist Tracey Levy, and hair stylist Barb Thompson, after a quiet morning grabbing coffee with her family. And it was the first time she tried a look as daring as her Carolina Herrera Fall 2025 gown.

Lupe had fallen in love with the dress—a column halter woven from strands of silver beads, scattered with even more silver pailettes—when it came down the runway last spring. It definitely counts as an entry into the Hollywood canon of nearly-naked dresses that reveal more than they conceal. "It's this beautiful, glamorous, glitzy bombshell situation—it's such a celebratory piece," she tells me a few hours before changing into it.

Lupe and her glam team had approached the Emmys with a popping-champagne mindset. Win or lose, the ceremony is a moment to toast. "My whole life, I've watched the Emmys and I remember as a little kid watching them," Lupe says. "It's kind of surreal to be in the moment now, where I'm going as part of this show. I'm gonna just try and actually let that sink in, in a way, and not get too nervous about anything else."

Lupe admits the bare-it-all nature of her dress heightened her nerves—but she was going to all-in. "I wanted to do something that felt like it was leaning into like the bombshell vibe that the dress presents, which is something that I usually don't do at all," she says. "It's something I've never done before, so it's kind of going out on a little bit of a limb. But I just figured, for the Emmys, why not?"

Letting go of her inhibitions is a way of embracing the dress's spirit and arriving at the Emmys. "When I think of a bombshell, I think of someone who's like, free and confident and leaning into the femininity of the dress," Lupe explains. "So we wanted to do something that felt both glamorous and relaxed."

She kept her hair simple, in a long blow-out with tendrils gently framing her face. A sprinkling of Antia Ko diamonds frosted her ears and fingers.

Lupe's Carolina Herrera moment comes on the heels of a busy red carpet season, where she's pushed her style limits in looks from Roland Mouret, Alberta Ferretti, and more. Through each gown, she says, she's ultimately trying to have fun.

Sometimes, that manifests in a big first like her Emmys look; other times, it comes from a smaller change in her beauty beat. "I wore my hair back for the first time, out of my face, the other day," she laughs. "I've never pulled my hair back!"

Her confidence in exploring different silhouettes comes from the trust she's built in her team. "Now we've worked together for a few years, so it feels like now I'm leaning into the vision that they put together," Lupe says. "And, just having fun with each of the different identities that the looks have."

I had to ask Lupe what her onscreen counterpart in Nobody Wants This would think of her spangled naked dress. While see-through dresses feel like a swerve for the actress, her scene-stealing counterpart Morgan seems like she'd have a closet full of them. Lupe agrees. "I think this is more of a Morgan moment than most of the times that I go on a red carpet," she laughs. "I think she'd be down."

Here's hoping Lupe takes another big risk when her next Emmys invitation inevitably arrives. This Carolina Herrera dress is the sort of first that everybody wants to see again.

In terms of red carpet glam, you never really know what you're going to get from Selena Gomez, especially when it comes to her manicures of choice. One day you'll spot her wearing a 3D chrome manicure, and the next, she'll opt to keep things super simple with a neutral color. She took the latter route at the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night with a "sophisticated silk" manicure.

The Only Murders in the Building star appeared at the event alongside her fiancé Benny Blanco, and she wore a bright red, high neck, Louis Vuitton gown with a train. She kept her glam for the night pretty subtle, with her hair styled in a Barbie ponytail and a nude manicure. Per usual, Gomez's manicure was courtesy of her longtime manicurist, Tom Bachik. For the show, the duo kept it simple, with Bachik using a fleshy nude nail color to give Gomez what he's now calling a "sophisticated silk" manicure.

"Sophisticated silk" appears to be another take on the "rich girl nails" trend that Bachik also popularized this year thanks to glossy nude looks worn by Gomez and other stars like Jennifer Lopez. The gist is that these colors are supposed to look just like your natural nail color.

For Gomez's Emmys manicure, Bachik used the shade "Silk Thread" from CND's shellac collection, and per a product description, it's a "beige taupe with a hint of pink shimmer." According to a statement, Bachik chose the color as a way to complement the singer's muted makeup look. "When choosing color, I often love to play off makeup," he says. "Sometimes the eye, sometimes the lip. Today our inspo [was] no makeup makeup."

When Molly Gordon attended her first-ever Emmys in 2024, she didn’t know what to expect.

Not only did it mark the actress’s first time attending a major awards ceremony with her co-stars and colleagues in The Bear, but she also didn’t have much time between filming her anti-rom-com Oh, Hi! in Upstate New York and walking the red carpet in Hollywood.

“Last year was honestly a whirlwind,” Gordon tells Marie Claire via email, recalling how she and her stylist, Jared Ellner, made her look work. “Jared literally drove hours Upstate to fit me on set on an overnight the week before the Emmys, because he’s that good a friend.”

“I loved my look,” she says of her black Versace mermaid gown. “I also have such fond and funny memories of the whole experience of putting it together.”

But this year—joining The Bear, which earned 13 nominations, for round two—Gordon felt more at ease and “was excited to lean into what felt classic and also comfortable.”

Styled again by Ellner, Gordon attended the 2025 Emmys in a black and white striped Giorgio Armani gown from the Fall/Winter 1996 collection, and paired it with vintage Tiffany’s jewelry. “We went for an Old Hollywood energy, which I always love, and I think is really inspired by Armani’s timeless style,” she says. “I am the biggest fan of his work and I feel very lucky to be honoring him tonight.”

“It was honestly love at first sight with this dress!” the actress adds, explaining that she and Ellner found it in Venice during the Venice Film Festival, and knew they “needed to have it for Emmys.”

Old Hollywood also inspired Gordon’s hair and makeup, designed by hair stylist Derek Yeun for Olivia Garden and makeup artist Melissa Hernandez, respectively. “The beauty inspiration was all about elegance,” Gordon says of her Armani Beauty look. “I've been loving Armani Beauty's Luminous Silk Foundation and Cheek Tint. My makeup artist, Melissa Hernandez, also gave me the wing of my dreams!”

Though Gordon admits that her characters and projects frequently inspire her style—like when she and Ellner paid homage to “iconic rom-com looks” when Oh, Hi! premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January—her Emmys style was a far cry from her The Bear character Claire. “Ultimately, when I think of Claire, I think of scrubs,” she says. “Obviously, they’re my favorite costume to wear because they’re so damn comfortable—so I wouldn’t say she immediately jumps to mind when I look at this stunning Armani gown. But I would love to see her in something like this. Just not at the hospital. Or let’s do a Figs gown.”

Gordon was more than thrilled, though, to spend the night celebrating the comedy, now nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, for a third year in a row. “I feel really lucky. The whole experience has been really special. Getting to work opposite Jeremy is really a gift. He is a wonderful actor and leader. Ayo, Jeremy, Ebon, Liza—the list goes on. This group of actors is so wonderful, and I’m so happy they are being recognized for their work.”

Gordon says she also had much to look forward to after the after party—where she was “sticking with the Old Hollywood Armani vibe, but a little more playful.” “When I get home, I will immediately get naked and eat ice cream in bed with Jared.” Yes, chef.

The 2025 Emmys are the time to celebrate the best in TV, but before the awards show even began, fans found out that they're about to bid farewell to a beloved comedy series.

While walking the Emmys red carpet, Hacks star Hannah Einbinder revealed that the upcoming fifth season of the hit HBO Max series will be its final installment.

“It will feel different,” Einbinder told E! host Heather McMahan, per Variety. “We’re going to start [filming] next week, and knowing it’s the last season is really bittersweet. But I think it’s right, you know?"

The actress, who stars opposite Jean Smart on the series, added, "It’s nice to do something as many times as it should be done. Not overstay your welcome. Rip it and do it and laugh and cry."

The beloved showbiz comedy, created by Lucia Anello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky about the relationship between a stand-up legend and her younger writer, was renewed for its fifth season in May 2025, days before its season 4 finale. Before Einbender's announcement, the showrunners had previously said in interviews that they were unsure whether they would stick to their original five-season plan for the series.

"We are now breaking up season 5, and we have to see how many episodes it will take us to get to where we know we’re going to go," Downs said back in May.

"The final scene of the final episode has been in our minds since 2015, and we’re excited to get there. But that may take more episodes than we can fit in the season...The truth is that we’ve been really lucky to be able to tell the story in the way that the writing requires, and we’re gonna do that again. And so if we can’t get to that final chapter in 10, and it might be more—we just don’t know. That’s the truth. We know where we’re going, we just don’t know how long it will take to get there."

Fans may recall that the acclaimed season 4 of Hacks concluded with Smart's Deborah Vance down on her luck and living in Singapore after leaving late-night TV and facing a non-compete clause. However, it sets up the forthcoming episodes as a false report of her death inspires a fire in her and her writer/mentee, Ava (Einbinder), to return to the U.S. and fight the industry to reclaim her work.

This year's Emmys ceremony marked a big night for Hacks, which was nominated for 14 awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

The stars took home major prizes. Smart won her fourth consecutive Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy for playing Deborah Vance (marking her seventh Emmy overall). Meanwhile, Einbinder took home her first-ever award, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, for her performance as Ava Daniels.

Einbender, who is known for being vocal about both social justice issues and her love of the Philadelphia Eagles, ended her speech by saying, "Go Birds, fuck ICE, and free Palestine."

Lauren Graham said it best on the 2025 Emmys stage: “Gilmore Girls took the season of fall hostage.” It's only right Graham and co-star Alexis Bledel reunited during autumn's first major award show.

Half-way through the two-hour red carpet circuit, the internet's favorite faux mother-daughter duo blessed fans with their presence. (They've been noticeably absent from the Emmys for years—Graham since 2018 and Bledel since 2010.) Graham and Bledel, a.k.a. Lorelai and Rory, acted as each other's plus-ones in similar column silhouettes.

Graham chose a black illusion gown covered in florals, in lieu of fresh-fallen leaves. It hailed from Swiss label, Akris. Its high neck called for minimal jewelry, including a single diamond ring.

Bledel, on the other hand, went with silver sparkles courtesy of Marmar Halim Pre-Fall 2025. It felt so aligned with Rory's early-aughts aesthetic, from the strapless neckline to the silver beadwork. In the Egyptian designer's line, the bodice was slightly more structural (the top arched up instead of straight-across).

Going necklace-free was certainly a trend of the evening. Selena Gomez, Mariska Hargitay, Cristin Milioti, Chase Sui Wonders, and Bledel (to name a few) made a case for statement necklines, rather than six-figure pendants. To finish, Bledel popped on drop emerald earrings, one of her on-screen character's favorite fall-ish shades.

Gilmore Girls fans everywhere screamed seeing Graham and Bledel on the red carpet. (Apologies to my neighbors.) But wait, they gifted us an on-stage reunion, too. Host Nate Bargatze introduced the former co-stars on a flowery front porch straight out of Stars Hollow. Graham and Bledel channeled their on-screen alter-egos to present The Studio with the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series award.

"25 years ago, a show called Gilmore Girls premiered," Graham said during the ceremony. "In spite of our autumnal dominance, Gilmore was actually a very small show," Bledel responded. They reminisced over their "great, big, terrifyingly lengthy scripts," the ones still charming fans today.

All in all, Bledel and Graham looked right at home on the wrap-around, cottage-core porch. However, their designer gowns marked quite a detour from their character's plaid sweaters, denim jackets, and knee-high boots. No worries, though: I have seven seasons of style inspiration to source.

Seeing Bledel and Graham on-stage together encouraged me to queue up my umpteenth rewatch of Gilmore Girls. Who am I kidding? I don't need any excuse to binge my fall comfort show again.

The 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards are currently taking place in Los Angeles, and while most of the attendees are gathering in hopes of taking home trophies (and praising the ones who do), the best part of the show happens before it even starts—on the red carpet. All of Hollywood stepped out tonight wearing their very best, but one look at everyone's glam shows that it's already shaping up to be a pretty big night for slick ponytails.

Among other trends like the oft-debated side part, gray hair, and red lips, ponytails are having a big moment at the show tonight. Selena Gomez, who's currently starring in the Emmy-nominated Only Murders in the Building, showed up with her long bob pulled into a super slick ponytail with a Barbie-like flick at the ends. And speaking of Barbie ponytails, The Better Sister's Elizabeth Banks attended the event wearing a super-long and voluminous high ponytail with platinum blonde highlights.

After being cast in Hulu's hit show The Bear, Ayo Edebiri has become one of the Emmy red carpet's stars to watch. At almost every award show, the actor shows up ready to claim her award and coincidentally serves the best look of the night—pretty much without even trying.

At last year's show, for example, she churned out three different Emmys night looks. Edebiri started off in a whimsical Bottega Veneta gown, which she wore on the red carpet pre-show. She arrived in a custom column dress which was covered in black and orange sequins.

To claim her award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, Edebiri pivoted to a luxe leather number. The strapless design—a Louis Vuitton creation—featured a bubble-like skirt and a strapless bodice. For those keeping score, it's likely one of the most stunning looks she's ever worn.

Later that night, Edebiri changed into another Bottega Veneta design for the after-party. This time, she chose a mini dress with a gold detail at the shoulder, reminiscent of the brand's iconic Sardine Bag.

At tonight's show however, Edebiri's look was an unusual zero out of 10, because the star was nowhere to be found. It's likely that a scheduling conflict is to blame for her absence, given that she's rumored to be filming for her latest project, Prodigies. Even so, the star is nominated for both Directing for a Comedy Series and Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Bring in Choreography and Merriment: Tramell Tillman has a lot to celebrate at the 2025 Emmys.

The Severance actor, who rose to fame as severed floor manager Seth Milchick, has officially become the first Black actor to win Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series. He is also the first openly gay Black man to be recognized in the category.

While accepting his historic win, Tillman dedicated the award to his mother, whom he described as his "first acting coach."

"You remember what you want to remember. You make time for what you want to make time for," he said. "'Do the work, show up, and, most importantly, for the love of God, don't embarrass me in public.' My first acting coach was tough, y'all. But all great mothers are."

The Severance star continued, "Mama, you were there for me when no one else was, and no one else would show up. Your loving kindness stays with me—and this is for you. Thank you to The Academy. I am full. I am humbled. I am honored, and, as my mama would say, 'Ooo, Look at God!'"

This was Tillman's first nomination and first win, for Severance's long-anticipated second season. He was nominated alongside Severance co-stars Zach Cherry and John Turturro, as well as Paradise's James Marsden, and The White Lotus's Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, and Sam Rockwell.

Earlier in the evening, Tillman walked the Emmys red carpet in a crisp all-white custom Dolce & Gabbana suit, paired with an Audemars Piguet timepiece.

Severance is the most-nominated show this year with 27 nods.

Shortly after Tillman's win, Britt Lower took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

The Apple TV+ drama has already been renewed for season 3.

As celebrities continue to arrive at the 2025 Emmys, the red carpet is getting the first look at some beauty trends that will be sure to hit your “For You” pages very shortly. Jenna Ortega started us off strong by pairing a delicious burgundy-red lip color with an outfit that was literally made of jewels, courtesy of Givenchy’s Fall 2025 collection. Selena Gomez then threw her hat into the ring, opting for a more orange-leaning red hue that complemented her halter-neck gown beautifully (a nod to her best friend’s new era, perhaps). Chloe Sevigny’s red lip added a pop of color to her all-black outfit, and Jennie Garth’s was sexy and slightly vampiric—exactly how I want my lips to look heading into the fall and winter months.

I’ve long been a fan of a bold red lip, but if I’m being honest, it’s been a while since I’ve felt courageous enough to pull one out. That all ends today, however, because these actresses are making a very strong case for why we should all be wearing red lips this fall. Not only will the lip colors perfectly complement the red nail trend that’s carried over from 2024, but there are so many types of red to choose from that there is no way you won’t be able to find your new go-to hue.

On HBO's thriller drama The White Lotus, Aimee Lou Wood embodied the persona of care-free flower child in bikinis and crochet. But on the 2025 Emmys red carpet, Wood looked every bit the polished Hollywood actor she is in real life.

No television show had me in a chokehold this past spring quite like The White Lotus. I tuned in to watch the new episodes of the Thailand-based third season every Sunday night and spent the days in between scrolling TikTok and X for all kinds of fan theories and predictions regarding the shenanigans on screen. So it's no surprise that the show and its cast managed to snag 23 nominations at the 2025 Emmy Awards this year. Carrie Coon, specifically, is up for the award for Best Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for her role as Laurie on the show, and after seeing her on the red carpet, I want to give her an award just for her glam.

The actress appeared on the red carpet wearing a strapless, baby blue Chanel gown with a tulle skirt and frills lining the bodice. She kept her makeup pretty minimal with peachy colors on her eyes and lips, but it was her hair that took me completely by surprise, as she traded in her signature blunt bob and went even shorter with a pixie cut.

But that's not the only major change she made ahead of the night—Coon also appeared to have lightened her hair, which was previously a creamy blonde color, to platinum blonde.

Coon's hair was styled by hairstylist Jenny Cho, who said in a statement that she was hoping to channel "Jean Seberg and Mia Farrow."

TV's biggest night is here! The Emmys bring Hollywood's top silver-screen talent together to celebrate the very best in television—and the 2025 Emmys are especially exciting for the cast of The Pitt. The HBO series is up for 12 awards, with its female cast members manifesting a big night with their scene-stealing gowns.

Just like she does as charge nurse Dana Evans, veteran actor Katherine LaNasa commanded attention on the 2025 Emmys red carpet in Jason Wu. She told E!'s Zuri Hall she was "going for a Grace Kelly vibe," and LaNasa was an Old Hollywood vision in a strapless ivory ballgown complete with a ceil blue bow—which LaNasa called a "traditional nursing color." The star added matching blue pumps, a metallic clutch, a diamond bracelet, and stud earrings to round off her look.

LaNasa is nominated for her first-ever Emmy award in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category. She's up against some tough competition: Carrie Coon, Aimee Lou Wood, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Julianne Nicholson, and Patricia Arquette.

One of my favorite shows this year—hands down—was Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. I binged all nine episodes in one weekend and proceeded to dive deep into the depths of Reddit for further fact-checking and fan theories. Unsurprisingly, Chloë Sevigny, who played the mom, Kitty Menendez, was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series—and I couldn't wait to see her walk the 2025 Emmys red carpet.

The actress naturally didn't disappoint. She came to the red carpet with a matching matte red lipstick, a few wispy lashes, an updo reminiscent of Princess Lea, and a casual 30 carats of Tiffany & Co. diamonds. But my personal favorite aspect of her Emmys look occurred on her fingers.

Instead of opting for a very fall manicure like a burgundy to match her lipstick, a vampy tone, or even a gray shade (which has been all over NYFW, FYI), the actress went with concealer nails—ie, a barely-there nude-colored polish that's a near-identical skin tone match. In my humble opinion, this is one of the chicest, most expensive-looking manicures on the red carpet.

You never know what you're going to get with Britt Lower on the red carpet. Maybe she'll show up in a white Victorian-inspired gown, as she did for Apple TV+'s 2023 Emmys after-party. Or maybe she'll opt for a full suit, like the one she wore to Calvin Klein's Spring 2026 show. For the 2025 Emmys red carpet, however, the Severance star opted for a minimalist spiced-orange moment.

Lower worked with stylist Rose Forde to craft her leading lady ensemble: a custom Calvin Klein Collection gown in one of fall's trendiest shades, spiced orange. To finish off the look, she wore matching satin pumps and minimal diamond jewelry.

I'm betting Lower's golden 2022 Emmys look manifests her a win tonight, but only time will tell. Either way, Lower has cemented herself a top spot on the 2025 Emmys best-dressed list in my book.

Hollywood is providing the most resounding rebuttal to the middle versus side-part debate yet—on one of the biggest nights in entertainment, no less. The 2025 Emmy Awards are currently underway, and some of Hollywood’s biggest names are hoping to take home one of those coveted trophies. That being said, the red carpet arrivals are a show in and of themselves, and the one beauty moment that’s already dominating the night? Side parts.

Spotted on people like Desi Lydic and Chase Sui Wonders, side parts are undoubtedly the best accessory to what is shaping up to be a larger trend throughout the night: Old Hollywood hair. It's giving ethereal fairy who loves a jumbo hair accessory—and I am here for it. This maximalist glam might not make an appearance on The Pitt (a cesspool for vomit and other bodily substances), but I am thrilled Briones gets to go full glam this evening.

Nominated for her role in Matlock, Bates went for a very classic look at the Emmys. Gray hair (a huge trend for the evening) and true blue-red lipstick were key to her sophisticated glam.

Meghann Fahy

Name a better duo: Meghann Fahy and a side part. While the actress normally parts her honey hair straight down the center (read: The White Lotus and Perfect Couple), she and hairstylist Jacob Rozenberg decided to switch things up for the big night. As for makeup? It's a full Estée Lauder beat.

Jenna Ortega

Those cheekbones? Makeup artist Mélanie Inglessis sculpted them using the Laduora Lumeo SkinLift System on the Wednesday actress's skin. Once skin was prepped, she went to work on a very vampy red lip and smoky eye.

I don't have the secret to these gorgeous curls (yet!), but I do know that they smell like Parfums de Marly Delina Hair Perfume. Welcome to television’s biggest night: the 2025 Emmy Awards. At the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the September 14 red carpet is rolling out for the stars of the year’s biggest shows, from The Pitt and Severance to Only Murders in the Building and Matlock. As Marie Claire’s senior fashion news editor, I’m here to highlight the best red carpet live fashion updates delivered by each of the night’s nominees.

TV critics might have their bets for the series that will take home Best Drama and Best Comedy later in the evening. I say, the best-dressed trophy at the 77th Annual Emmys is anyone’s game. Alas, The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri didn't attend this year. But Only Murders’ Selena Gomez made sure to stand out in a Louis Vuitton dress, while The Diplomat star Keri Russell and last year’s big winner from Shogun, Anna Sawai, both glistened in black Giorgio Armani gowns. First-time nominees also tend to up their style game—and that was true for Nobody Wants This’ Kristen Bell, also in Armani. More stunning looks arrived from winners Britt Lower, Hannah Einbinder, and The Pitt's Katherine LaNasa.

Everything to Know About the 2025 Emmys Red Carpet

It’s going to be a long night. But before we dive into all the fashion goodness, here’s my guide to keeping up with the night’s events (and the very best looks).

Where and when can I watch the red carpet? You have your pick of a few channels to see nominees from Jessica Williams to Kathy Bates arrive. E!’s official red carpet starts at 6 p.m. Eastern, and Entertainment Tonight’s will start an hour later at 7 p.m. Eastern. If you’d rather watch from the comfort of your phone, check out People and Entertainment Weekly’s YouTube channels, where they’ll be streaming live.

When does the red carpet end—and the show begin? The 2025 Emmys will get going at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS, through your local network provider or on demand. Paramount Plus subscribers can also watch the entire show live. (That’s how I’m tuning in!) Most years, the broadcast ends by around 11 p.m. ET.

Will there be after-party fashion? A girl can dream! For this editor, the more looks are the merrier. However, I’m New York City-based and have a busy New York Fashion Week schedule. You can catch Marie Claire’s after-party coverage the morning after (September 15).

My Expert Emmys Red Carpet Predictions

I have high hopes for this year’s best Emmys red carpet fashion. This year’s nominees and presenters really know how to dress, from Hacks star Hannah Einbinder (a Louis Vuitton muse) to Severance star Britt Lower (who just fronted a Theory campaign).

A few things I’m looking for? Jenna Ortega and stylist Enrique Melendez: whether they deliver a goth-chic ode to her style on Wednesday, or flip the script like last year's Dior, they'll definitely impress me. Luxury designers have been quietly teasing their Paris Fashion Week collections at the Venice and Toronto Film Festival red carpets—the Emmys, I suspect, will follow the pattern.

After Italian designer Giorgio Armani died last week, Margot Robbie wore one of his final naked dresses for Armani Privé to a film premiere. I wouldn’t be surprised if more stars (and their stylists) pay tribute to one of Hollywood’s biggest advocates through some of their own Armani outfits. All in all, it’s going to be a glamorous night.

Here come the TV hosts! Red carpet presenters Mona Kosar Abdi, Bronwyn Newport, and Zuri Hall dialed up the glamour in the first gowns of the night. I'm especially in love with the drama of Newport's feathers. It's almost a taste of Taylor Swift's Life of a Showgirl era, which I'm soaking up after Swift skipped the Chiefs-Eagles game tonight.

The night's biggest nominees will likely wait until closer to showtime to, well, show out. But there's a teaser for one of October's biggest events already present. Shanina Shaik, best-known for walking the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, arrived in "head-to-toe Carolina Herrera," per her Instagram Stories. The show is back on October 15—here's hoping she'll walk the runway, too.

Nobody Wants This is up for several comedy awards tonight, and it's clear that star Justine Lupe is ready for the moment. She's attending her first-ever Emmys in what I'm told is Carolina Herrera. Naked dresses aren't as common at the Emmys, but they're making a strong first impression with Lupe.

There's a sculptural quality to Paradise star Krys Marshall's strapless gown that I'm infatuated by. It's reminiscent of the body-contorting gowns at Alaïa last season—and a twist on the pannier dresses taking over the New York Fashion Week runway this week. The source? Sebastian Gunawan, styled by Melissa Lynn.

Team 'Marie Claire' shares their expert predictions

While I'm handling team Marie Claire's live blog, my colleagues will be covering individual looks that make an impression. I polled the group on Slack for their predictions—here's what they think is in store.

"I'm manifesting a naked dress convention at the 2025 Emmys, presumably led by Zoë Kravitz (if she's jetting back from her Rome vacation with Harry Styles). Last week, my jaw dropped twice with sheer styles from Margot Robbie and Dakota Johnson. Our First 2025 Emmys Red Carpet Couple Moment!

I'm sorry, but I have to say it: In all my years of red carpet coverage, I never get tired of a coordinating couples' moment. Walton Goggins of The White Lotus (in Louis Vuitton) and director Nadia Conners made my heart grow two sizes with their matching looks (and flirting for the cameras).

It could be a big night for The Pitt, which is nominated for several awards in the Drama category. The cast is arriving separately and in the opposite of their ER scrubs. See: Shabana Azeez, who flourished in a cascading red gown with a classic trumpet silhouette by Marchesa, accessorizing with Dena Kemp, Nicole Rose Jewelry, and Saidian Vintage Jewels.

Later on, Katherine LaNasa would take home a trophy for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama. But first, she would walk the carpet in a sweet strapless dress set with a blue bow, designed just for her by Jason Wu.

The 'Severance' Sweep Begins

The Lumon crew is arriving at the 2025 Emmys red carpet! Sarah Brock, who plays the mysterious Miss Huang on Severance, changed out of her character's pleated skirt and into a turquoise gown with a flowing cape.

Just down the carpet, Dichen Lachman made a 180-swerve from Gemma's somber coats and sweaters to a sparkling champagne gown. As I told my Marie Claire colleagues on Slack, I love seeing stars from highly stylized shows change into something more fun!

Let's head over to The Studio, where cast member Chase Sui Wonders is the first to arrive. Just days ago, I'd written about her taking on '90s style in a satin Chanel going-out top. Now, she's attending her first Emmy Awards in a Thom Browne tuxedo dress. With her slick, side-parted bun and emerald drop earrings, she's a modern take on red carpet elegance.

Oh, hi, Molly Gordon! She's one of my favorite rising stars to watch on the red carpet, and I absolutely adore the timeless energy of her high-volume curls and stark striped dress. (Not to mention, that diamond choker!) And "timeless" is an apt word: Gordon sourced her Giorgio Armani gown from the Fall/Winter 1996 collection. My prediction for a big Armani night is already coming true.

An Understated Look That Makes a Statement

Fashion plays a supporting role in Meg Stalter's parts on Hacks and Too Much. For the 2025 Emmy Awards red carpet, she decided to make a statement by under-dressing. Instead of a traditional gown, she chose jeans, a T-shirt, and a black bag with a "Cease Fire" message taped to the side.

Let's check in to 'The White Lotus'...

Several generations—er, I mean, seasons—of The White Lotus are now arriving on the Emmys red carpet. While Jennifer Coolidge and Sarah Catherine Hook didn't overlap onscreen, I appreciate their shared commitment to tried-and-true black gowns for this occasion.

I have to give extra points to Sarah Catherine Hook, whose Miu Miu gown only got more interesting when she turned around. I love a back necklace moment!

Even more White Lotus arrivals are under way. Lisa looked like a cloud at sunset in her Lever Couture dress. It's a major departure from the uniform I got used to seeing her wear on HBO every Sunday.

Meghann Fahy proved the power of the understatement with her 2025 Emmys red carpet look, sourced from Valentino and styled by Thomas Carter Phillips. This scoop neckline defies gravity, and only needs a slight touch of jewelry to shine.

Natasha Rothwell's train by Di Santo got the entire Marie Claire events chat talking. Her character fights to take up space on The White Lotus; this dress effortlessly asserts her presence.

Stylist Karla Welch has done it again: Nominee for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, Ruth Negga dressed like the main character at the 2025 Emmy Awards red carpet in Prada. Staff writer Meguire Hennes told me she loved how this look is a bit out of the ordinary. It's true: While we're seeing a lot of black column gowns and metallic sequins, this one brought a painterly effect.

The 'Hacks' Stars Have It

They may duel for the spotlight in Hacks, but Hannah Einbinder and Jean Smart each got their own moment at the 2025 Emmy Awards. Einbinder, as predicted, wore Louis Vuitton styled by Jamie Mizrahi—a partnership she's kept up for several red carpets. Jean Smart, meanwhile, traded Deborah Vance's sequins for a regal emerald gown.

Jenna Ortega samples Givenchy's It Top

There were several siren emojis going around on Slack when Jenna Ortega came on the screen. Her bejeweled Givenchy top first appeared on Sarah Burton's debut runway last spring, before Kaia Gerber modeled it in the house's Fall 2025 campaign. I guess you have to be an It girl to wear this one.

'Dying for Sex' Stars Hit the Red Carpet

Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate broke my heart in Dying for Sex. Both actresses are nominated for their work on the limited series tonight, and both women looked ethereal on the 2025 Emmys red carpet. Here's Michelle swanning in vintage Chanel...

Selena Gomez Is in the Building!

She's here! Selena Gomez collaborated with stylist Erin Walsh on a simply stunning Louis Vuitton gown. From the lightly off-center collar to the long train to the heaps of Tiffany diamonds she accessorized with, Gomez looked like a winner. Of course, she also brought along her marquise diamond engagement ring—and her fiancé, Benny Blanco.

Even More 'White Lotus' Nominees Arrive

Parker Posey in custom Valentino! Aimee Lou Wood in a gorgeous, two-tone pink and red dress by McQueen! The White Lotus is one of the biggest casts on the 2025 Emmys red carpet—and also one of the best dressed.

A little bit of New York Fashion Week came to the 2025 Emmys through Britt Lower's gown. The Severance star and nominee wore custom Calvin Klein—just days after the label's headline-making Spring 2026 runway.

One of the Night's Biggest Trends? Seeing Red

They say three makes a trend, and I counted two more gorgeous red gowns to join Selena Gomez's custom Louis Vuitton. Hunter Schafer shut down the carpet in a high-neck, high impact moment by McQueen, while Sydney Sweeney went Old Hollywood in Oscar de la Renta.

Winners and Nominees All Love This Designer

Just like I predicted, there was a lot of Giorgio Armani on the 2025 Emmys red carpet. Last year's big drama winner, Anna Sawai, wore a black one-shoulder gown styled by the house. Keri Russell, this year nominated for The Diplomat, and Kristen Bell, nominated for Nobody Wants This, also wore sparkling looks by the late designer.

Coworkers, Then and Now

It was a big night for scene-stealing pairs to walk the red carpet together. Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls fame reunited on the carpet, while Hunting Wives duo Brittany Snow and Malin Ackerman kept up their coordinating streak from the 2025 VMAs last week. It's time to celebrate the past year of must-see TV. The Emmys are just a few days away, and television's biggest night is back on its regular schedule after last year's dual nostalgia-filled ceremonies.

Awards shows are most exciting when they're unpredictable, and this year will see juggernaut first-time nominees go up against returning fan favorites and surprise pop-culture phenomena. As this Sunday's ceremony approaches, it's time to prepare our scorecards and watch parties. Read on for everything you need to know about the 2025 Emmys, including how to tune into the ceremony, which A-listers are set to walk the red carpet, and which comedies, dramas, and reality shows are expected to win big.

When are the 2025 Emmys?

The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, September 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. This year, the event will be held at the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in downtown L.A.

How to watch the 2025 Emmys:

Viewers with cable can tune into their local CBS or use their cable login to watch from a computer or phone via CBS website or app.

The Emmys will also be available to stream on Paramount+. However, the awards will only stream live for Paramount+ Premium subscribers, via the live feed of their local CBS channel. The app's Premium tier starts at $13/month and offers a seven-day free trial. The full ceremony will be available to stream on demand the following day for subscribers in the U.S. only, including those at the Paramount+ Essential tier (at $8/month).

If you neither have cable nor a Paramount+ Premium subscription, there are still ways to watch the Emmys. Live streaming TV services like YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, DIRECTV Stream, and Fubo provide access to CBS (and offer free trials).

How to watch the 2025 Emmys red carpet:

CBS will also air the official pre-show ET: Live on the Emmys Red Carpet, hosted by Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner, starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. Viewers can also stream the show live, either via an active Paramount+ Premium subscription or for free on Pluto TV's Entertainment Tonight channel. Pluto TV's ET channel will also show Emmys-themed coverage following Sunday's awards and into Monday morning.

Meanwhile, E!'s red carpet coverage will start at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT, with hosts and commentators including Christian Siriano, Zanna Roberts Rassi, Heather McMahan, and Zuri Hall covering all the night's fashion.

Who is hosting the 2025 Emmys?

Comedian Nate Bargatze will host the show this year. Bergatze was the highest-earning stand-up comedian in 2024, having sold more than 1.2 million tickets, and he previously hosted Saturday Night Live in 2023 and 2024. He's also a two-time nominee this year for his Netflix special, Your Friend, Nate Bargatze.

Who is presenting at the 2025 Emmys?

This year's presenter slate hints at possible reunions from several beloved shows, including Gilmore Girls's Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham; American Horror Story’s Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters; Law and Order’s Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni; and This Is Us's Sterling K. Brown and Justin Hartley. Meanwhile, many stars from this year's ensemble shows are guaranteed to take the stage, including Wednesday's Jenna Ortega and Catherine Zeta-Jones; The Studio’s Ike Barinholtz and Kathryn Hahn; Paradise's James Marsden and Julianne Nicholson; and The White Lotus’s Parker Posey and Walton Goggins (plus Jennifer Coolidge).

Other confirmed presenters include Elizabeth Banks, Angela Bassett, Jason Bateman, Kathy Bates, Kristen Bell, Stephen Colbert, Alan Cumming, Eric Dane, Colman Domingo, Tina Fey, Tony Goldwyn, Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law, Leanne Morgan, Jeff Probst, Phylicia Rashad, Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai, Michael Schur, Sydney Sweeney, Sofia Vergara, and Jesse Williams.

Also, longtime celebrity couple Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen will grace the stage and become the first couple to receive the 2025 Bob Hope Humanitarian Award. (The pair will also soon co-star in Man on the Inside season 2.)

Who is nominated at the 2025 Emmys?

Let's break down this year's nominees by category: In drama, Severance is the most-recognized show with 27 nominations, followed by The White Lotus with 23. Along with these two frontrunners, other shows with more than 10 noms include The Last of Us (16), Andor (14), and The Pitt (13).

For comedy, The Studio dominates the pack with 23 total nods, breaking Ted Lasso's record for the most nominations for a comedy in its first season. The Apple TV+ showbiz satire also took home the most awards at the Creative Arts Emmys with nine. Still, returning favorites Hacks (14) and The Bear (13) could pick up a couple of awards and stop a Studio sweep.

In the limited series category, The Penguin stands out as the second most-nominated show of the night with 24 nods. It also garnered eight wins at the Creative Arts Emmys, the second-most of the night. Among its challengers are Adolescence (13), Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story (11), and Dying for Sex (9).

Finally, notable unscripted shows include SNL50: The Anniversary Special (12), RuPaul’s Drag Race (8), Saturday Night Live (7), Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (6), and The Traitors (5).

Netflix's harrowing miniseries Adolescence premiered in March 2025 and quickly became this year's Baby Reindeer-esque word-of-mouth hit, thanks in large part to its breakout star, Owen Cooper. In the U.K.-set series, rising star Cooper plays Jamie, a 13-year-old boy accused of stabbing a female classmate to death, across four single-take episodes. Inspired by the recent rise of knife crime in the U.K., the drama is an examination of toxic masculinity and how social media can radicalize young men, with Cooper delivering a layered, terrified performance.

As nearly all of Adolescence's viewers have noted, it's amazing to consider that the Netflix series is the 15-year-old's first-ever professional role. With the 2025 Emmys, where Adolescence won several awards, including Best Limited or Anthology Series, Cooper even made Emmys history. Owen Cooper is the youngest male to win an Emmy award for acting.

At the 2025 Emmys, Cooper took home the award for best supporting actor in a limited or anthology series. The 15-year-old is now the youngest-ever male actor to win an acting award in Emmys history. (The youngest winner of all time is Roxana Zal, who was 14 when she won best supporting actress in 1984 for playing Amelia Bennett in the TV movie Something About Amelia.)

"Standing up here is just so surreal," Cooper said in his acceptance speech. "Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple years back, I didn't expect to be even in the United States, never mind here. I think tonight proves that, if you listen and you focus and you step out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life."

"I was nothing about three years ago. I'm here now, so I think if you're listening and you're focusing, you just step out of your comfort zone just a little bit. Who cares if you get embarrassed? Anything can be possible."

"A big thanks to my parents, to my mum, my dad, my family, the ones who love me, the ones who I love," he added, before thanking his co-stars, Netflix, and the team behind Adolescence, saying that his award "belongs to the people behind the camera."

Owen Cooper is a 15-year-old rising star from Northern England.

Cooper, 15, grew up in Warrington, a town near Liverpool in Northern England. In an interview with i-D, the young star said he dreamed of being a football player when he was younger, and that acting "wasn’t really in [his] DNA," until he joined a drama club after watching Tom Holland's 2012 film The Impossible.

Cooper explained in an interview with Variety that he began taking acting lessons and signed with an agency. "It’s an agency called The Drama Mob. And the lessons were just hourly lessons on a Tuesday, where we’d get a piece of script and just read it off. But I was just doing it for a hobby and didn’t expect much from it. And then when Adolescence came, I obviously took it a lot more seriously. And I just took it on the chin, really, and just did it."

Episode 3 of 'Adolescence' was Cooper's first time acting professionally.

To play Jamie in Adolescence, Cooper, who was 14 at the time, had to perform in one-take episodes that were filmed from start to finish in a continuous shot. The miniseries's standout third episode was not only the first Cooper filmed for the show, but also his first-ever time on a professional set.

"I didn’t know any better really!" Cooper told Variety about the one-shot filming. "When [director] Phil [Barantini] told me about the one-shot thing, I thought he was just talking about like one episode, or one quarter of an episode. But then he said all four episodes are being shot in one take. And I immediately thought I’d never, ever be able to do this. But everyone helped me through it...So I’d definitely do one shot again."

Owen Cooper's on-screen dad Stephen Graham compared him to a young Jodie Comer.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, veteran actor Stephen Graham—who co-created, co-wrote, and plays Jaime's father Eddie in Adolescence—opened up about recognizing Cooper's talent during their chemistry read during the show's casting. Graham compared Cooper's talent to one of his past co-stars, another young actor Graham worked with before they rose to fame: Killing Eve star Jodie Comer.

"There was just a piece of magic within," Graham said of Cooper. "I don’t mean this to sound trite, but you try and catch lightning in a bottle. We were just in the moment of something, and he looked at me in a certain way…And what I saw in Owen was the exact same thing I saw in Jodie Comer when Jodie was 17."

Graham and Comer both starred in the 2012 crime miniseries Good Cop, years before the actress went on to win an Emmy and a BAFTA for Killing Eve, as well as a Tony for her one-woman play Prima Facie.

"I saw the same kind of ability, the same kind of natural talent, and just a real presence," Graham added, comparing Cooper to Comer. "He just blew my mind."

Cooper counts Tom Holland, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Robert De Niro among his role models.

In addition to Tom Holland, Cooper counts some of the world's most lauded actors among his career role models.

"I would love Leonardo DiCaprio’s career," he said to British Vogue, when told that he has been compared to the Oscar winner. "And Robert De Niro’s. And Al Pacino’s. Those films like Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, The Godfather were all before my time. Owen Cooper's first film role will be costarring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.

Following Adolescence, Cooper is set to appear in both a TV rom-com and a highly anticipated book-to-movie adaptation. First, he'll play a role in the upcoming BBC comedy series Film Club, which is co-created by and starring Aimee Lou Wood of Sex Education and The White Lotus. The show follows longtime friends Evie (Wood) and Noa (Nabhaan Rizwan) as they're "forced to consider for the first time they might be more than just friends," as reported by BBC, with Cooper playing "Evie’s annoying neighbor Callum."

At the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sept. 15, Elizabeth Debicki took home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series trophy for portraying Princess Diana in the final season of Netflix's The Crown. Accepting her award onstage and walking the Emmys red carpet hardly an hour before, everyone from online commentators to TV correspondents said her square-neck, black velvet Dior gown could have been pulled from the late royal's wardrobe.

The dress's square neckline and weighty black fabric did seem somewhat reminiscent of a floral-embroidered gown Princess Diana wore for a charity event at London’s Bridgewater House back in November 1995; her glossy, minimal makeup by Misha Shahzada, bubble bath nails by Yoko Sakakura, and swept-back layered bun by DJ Quintero seemed equally Lady Di-coded. And when Elizabeth Debicki was preparing for her Emmy moment, she admitted she had her iconic character's energy in mind.

"It was the first thing I saw on the rack, and I just knew that I was going to go towards that dress," Debicki tells me from her getting-ready space before the show, with a pre-carpet avocado toast in hand.

"I don't mean this to sound like too on the nose, but it's quite—" the actress pauses for a moment, "regal. It feels like a very, for me, princessy dress, really. It's a sort of silhouette that when I was really young, I would have just thought, Oh, my gosh. That's the most beautiful dress I've ever seen."

The dress is the latest collaboration between Debicki and stylist Elizabeth Saltzman, a partnership that started with the Season Five premiere of The Crown—Debicki's first since being cast as Princess Diana. Over the ensuing three years of press junkets, premieres, and awards shows, the pair has honed in on looks that balance simplicity and elegance while working with Debicki's stature. (Those include a dreamy ice blue, backless Armani gown for the 2024 SAG Awards and a mirrored gold dress for the Golden Globes.) "Elizabeth is such a champion of all the women she works with," Debicki says. "She always wants you to feel so comfortable in your own skin."

Their dresses—last night's Emmys gown included—always started with what both Elizabeths wanted. Parallels to Princess Diana's real-life wardrobe weren't always intentional, but they'd sometimes subconsciously manifest in the looks.

"Princess Diana was truly a fashion icon—whatever you do, she has sort of done it already," Debicki says. "So we would learn that even when we would say, 'Oh, okay, we'll just go in this direction because we really love this. I've never worn something like this, and it feels fresh and new for us.' Then we would see the next day a sort of photo and we would think, huh! I guess it actually, really does look like that dress that Princess Di wore."

Debicki and Saltzman considered the black velvet Dior gown a grand finale to their three-year partnership. The Emmys marked Debicki's last red carpet attended in support of The Crown's cast and crew; win or lose, it would be a meaningful night. That sense of purpose manifested in the clean lines and commanding but refined shape. "It's kind of reverential. There's something about it that feels like it has a beautiful weight to it. There's the structure of the dress itself, physically, and just the space a dress like that takes up. It sort of knows itself, and it's very solid and kind of strong, and I think that that's just how we wanted to finish," Debicki explains.

There's been more to Debicki's journey with The Crown than stepping into the shoes—and gowns—of one of modern history's most influential women. Her own sense of style has come into focus with each red carpet. "I have learned to trust myself more. By that, I mean, to trust my instincts on what it is I feel like wearing," she says.

She'll still make references if and when it's appropriate. "I think every time you do a carpet, it's just sort of a little show, it's like a little performance. You can say something with it and create a sort of character."

The next time Debicki plays a red carpet part, it won't be in reference to Princess Diana. Standing in front of her peers in her Dior gown, the star gave a touching farewell to the woman she embodied for so many years. "Playing this part based on this unparalleled, incredible human being has been my great privilege," Debicki said. "It has been a gift."

Alan Cumming had a spectacular night at the 2024 Emmys and he made a statement on the red carpet, too.

Cumming won the Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality Competition Program Emmy for his exceptional work on The Traitors. The series itself, on which Cumming also serves as a producer, took home the Outstanding Reality Competition Program award. As well as being a wonderful reality television host, Cumming is an accomplished actor, and it was delightful to watch him win big at the ceremony.

Arriving on the red carpet, Cumming caught everyone's attention by pairing a Teddy Vonranson ivory suit jacket with a plaid shawl and a black kilt. The Scottish actor matched his shawl to his dress shirt, and wore a tartan tie to complete the ensemble.

During an interview with People, Cumming addressed whether pop superstar Taylor Swift had copied his style. He was, of course, referencing the tartan Dior outfit Swift wore at the MTV VMAs.

"The bitch stole my look," Cumming joked to People.

The actor also addressed fans suggesting Swift had taken inspiration from some of the outfits he'd worn on The Traitors.

"It was hilarious because... in the next season [of The Traitors] there's a look I have that's obviously very similar," he explained. "But I think it's hilarious that so many people sort of said Taylor Swift looks like Alan Cumming, which is a sentence I never thought I would hear."

Notably, while accepting one of his awards, Cumming wore a medal featuring the trans flag, in order to raise awareness for the trans community.

In his acceptance speech, Cumming said (via Pink News), "We are so grateful because we are a new show, and you guys, when you like something, you tend to stick to it, which is a good quality, so we appreciate it all the more."

He also made a point of thanking Scotland, saying, "I owe it everything; it’s such a beautiful co-star." Further thanks from Cumming went to "everyone in our castle, the cast and crew, that works so hard and get so wet by the Scottish weather."

FX's The Bear was shown a lot of love at the Emmys, with Jeremy Allen White making a heartfelt tribute to his cast mates from the stage.

Puerto Rican actress Liza Colón-Zayas, who portrays Tina on the show, won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Colón-Zayas also made history by being the first ever Latina actress to win in her Emmy category. Meanwhile, Colón-Zayas' costars, Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, took home the Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, respectively.

When Allen took to the stage to collect his award for playing Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto in The Bear, he appeared to be overcome with emotion. "My heart is just beating right out of its chest," he explained (via The Independent). "Thank you for choosing me. I am so, so, so lucky. I’m so grateful. Thank you."

He then made sure to speak directly to his The Bear costars, saying, "My beautiful cast, I love you forever. I love to work with you, and I want us to be in each other’s lives forever. I love you so dearly."

The Bear also triumphed in the guest star categories at the Emmys, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Jon Bernthal scoring Outstanding Guest Star in a Comedy Series trophies.

Curtis, who plays the family matriarch Donna Berzatto on the series, said in her speech (via People), "You know there’s a saying, 'Hurt people, hurt people,' but I also think you can add to that and say, 'Helped people help people,' and I think that’s the story of The Bear."

She continued, "It's astonishing that I got this opportunity at this point in my life... this beautiful, beautiful, beautiful piece of television... that I'm privileged to be in."

The Crown might be over, but Princess Diana's legacy will always live on.

Elizabeth Debicki, who played the late royal in seasons five and six of the Netflix drama, took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series on Sept. 15—and she made sure to honor the real Diana in the process.

"Playing this part based on this unparalleled, incredible human being has been my great privilege. It has been a gift," Debicki, 33, said during her acceptance speech Sunday night.

However, the first-time Emmy winner found herself "in a real pickle" after her name was announced, telling the audience she hadn't prepared any words ahead of the ceremony because she was "very superstitious."

In any case, Debicki delivered a moving speech, thanking The Crown's hair and makeup and costume team who "transformed" her into the princess.

And while Debicki paid tribute to Princess Diana's iconic revenge dress at the season 6 premiere of The Crown, she opted not to directly recreate one of the late royal's famous outfits for the Emmys.

The star, however, did wear a classic black Dior gown not unlike some of the evening dresses the princess wore in the late 1990s.

Her beauty look also nodded to Diana's style, with the actress wearing a peachy-pink hue similar to the lipstick shades the People's Princess frequently wore.

“I wanted to focus on the perfect pout with a glossy center while keeping her skin dewy and light,” makeup artist Misha Shahzada exclusively shared with Marie Claire on Emmys night.

As for her big night, the Netflix star had plenty of love to spread around.

"I was so thrilled that so many of us have been nominated," Debicki told People of her colleagues on The Crown, who pulled in an incredible 18 Emmy nominations.

"That just feels like the cherry on the cake, really, of such a nice thing," she added.

Anna Sawai celebrated her first-ever Emmy win by changing into another stunning look for an after-party hosted by the Walt Disney Company. The Shogun star posed with her gleaming award wearing a custom Louis Vuitton red silk faille gown with a tank top and gathered column skirt. She accessorized the waist-accentuating design with black leather platform sandals and diamond drop earrings.

Sawai's big win for her work on Shogun represented more than a personal first. It marked a historic victory for her as the first actress of Asian descent to win in the lead actress in a drama series category at the Emmys. Sawai became a breakout star on the FX period drama for portraying Mariko, an honor-driven noblewoman living in 1600s-era Japan.

"I was crying before my name was announced," the actor said in her emotional Emmys acceptance speech. "I'm a mess today."

She concluded by dedicating her win to her mother and "all the women who expect nothing and continue to be an example for everyone."

Earlier in the evening, Sawai made the best-dressed list in a mermaid-style gown in a similar shade of fiery orange-red to walk the 2024 Emmys red carpet. Like a true fashion darling, she worked with stylist Karla Welch—whose other actor clients include Kristen Wiig, Sarah Paulson, Olivia Wilde, and Greta Gerwig—to commission the custom design from Chinese-American designer Vera Wang. The pair accessorized the peplum dress with Cartier jewels. Per E! correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi, who hosted the network's Live From The Red Carpet pre-show, Welch called Sawai's look the "dress of her dreams."

Anna Sawai's back-to-back dresses aren't the only places where a red-hot palette is gaining steam. Dopamine-inducing bright red originally rose to prominence during the Spring 2022 and Fall 2023 seasons when designers like Ferragamo, Stella McCartney, Carolina Herrera, and Tibi sent it down the runway in the form of dresses, jackets, shoes, sweaters, tights, and scarves. Later, an even riper, black cherry version of the shade reappeared on the Spring 2024 runways at the likes of Gucci, Valentino, and Hermès.

Needless to say, with Sawai and Welch backing the trend twice in a single night, it's full steam ahead on this punchy shade for the foreseeable future.

The design has become Bottega's bread and butter, having been worn by virtually every celeb in the business. Hailey Bieber, Dakota Johnson, Kylie Jenner, Dua Lipa, and Selena Gomez have all carried the Sardine in various colors and it was even the accessory of choice for Kendall Jenner's viral no-pants 'fit in 2022 (IYKYK).

The latest to take on the iconic Bottega look is none other than The Bear star and Emmys best-dressed contender Ayo Edebiri. She wore custom Bottega to the 2024 Emmys and, following the award show, changed into another design from the Italian label. Though she didn't actually carry the purse itself, Edebiri's mini dress tapped into the bag's most famous attribute: its gleaming gold, sardine-shaped handle.

While her red carpet look gave off an air of playfulness, Edebiri's post-show ensemble felt every bit posh and demure. For Walt Disney's after-party on Sept. 15, the actor wore an asymmetrical LBD covered in chic ruching, styled once again by Danielle Goldberg. Instead of your typical fabric strap, however, Bottega installed a metallic piece at the shoulder that mimicked their iconic Sardine handle.

Though the $3,400 bag was nowhere to be seen, Edebiri's chosen accessories did play up the statement hardware. She wore chunky gold hoops to match and a pair of knotted sandals, also from the brand.

When Reservation Dogs star Devery Jacobs arrived at the 2024 Emmy Awards red carpet on Sept. 15 in a cream, tulle-covered suit by ACT N°1, she wanted to start a conversation. Jacobs was there to represent a groundbreaking series, which follows four indigenous teens growing up on an Oklahoma reservation, nominated in its third and final season for one of the most competitive Emmy awards, Outstanding Comedy Series. Fans of the critically-acclaimed show knew it was special even before it was nominated: Reservation Dogs was also the first American TV series to feature writers and directors entirely of indigenous heritage. Naturally, Jacobs wanted to show up and show out for her last appearance tied to the series and her character, Elora Danan.

Linking up with stylist Christian Stroble for the evening led Jacobs to her red carpet ideal—a set blending floaty, voluminous texture with the base of a strong-shouldered suit. Just don't call the tiers and tiers of tulle her Cinderella moment. "I tried it on and was immediately like, 'This feels so me, this feels dramatic and elevated but also really interesting," Jacobs tells me over the phone after one of her last fittings. "The last thing that I want to be called, personally, when I step onto a red carpet is 'pretty' [or] soft and feminine. Those things don't feel interesting to me."

Jacobs says her personal style is a mix of masculine and feminine—and she's not afraid to take risks bringing those sides together, even on one of Hollywood's biggest nights. "I've found that when I've been on just as many worst-dressed lists as I have best-dressed, I consider that to be a success because at least there's a conversation happening and a point of view behind it."

An essential part of Jacobs's style POV is her Kahnawake Mohawk heritage, which the star elevates by prioritizing indigenous designers in her red carpet outfits. If the step-and-repeat is where Jacobs can express herself and not the characters she plays, she says she wants to elevate every aspect of her queer, native identity. Last night, she paired her dress with jewelry from Ataumbi Metals, a New Mexico-based jeweler blending Arapaho, Kiowa, and Shoshone aesthetics.

"Reservation Dogs and all of the press that we've had has really afforded us the chance to lean into our personal style and I think show who we are through that lens," Jacobs explained. "I'm always conscious and mindful of wanting to uplift community in all of the spaces that we go to, whether that's collaborating with indigenous designers or queer designers and artists of color."

It's a personal effort. Jacobs can remember a time when she didn't yet feel empowered to dress how she wanted to. "When I was really young, I was wearing a lot of really femme outfits that I didn't feel specifically resonated with who I was. It was kind of what I was told I should look like," she said. Now, she's attending events like the Emmys in looks that give every side of her identity space to shine without restraint.

Her Emmys look also baked in an homage to the start of her TV journey with a nod to one of her first Reservation Dogs costumes: "I was drawing from the pilot, where we're all wearing suits," she said. On the series, she wears a black straight-leg pantsuit and skinny black tie for an event I won't spoil here for any late watchers. Jacobs reinterpreted it in a lighter palette and amplified volume—one of her favorite ways to mix up a look.

A red carpet send-off in yards and yards of tulle was symbolic of Jacobs taking up the space she and her community deserve in Hollywood. "I always wanted to go out of Reservation Dogs guns blazing because it is such a groundbreaking show, not only for native folks, but also rez kids who have been needing to see a show like this for so long," she said.

The entire cast and crew takes pride in every detail of the project, from the writers drawing from their lived experiences in the scripts to the actors representing their families and friends onscreen. "It was for our communities," Jacobs said of the show. "For me to be able to be a part of the Emmys this year, and for the show to be nominated, is something that just feels right."

Jacobs joked that she "fully expects to lose to The Bear." The trophy for Outstanding Comedy ultimately went to Hacks, but I can't image Jacobs was too pressed. The night was never really about the awards, anyway, for her. It was about what her presence stood for.

"I'm just excited to be able to represent queer native folks and Kahnawake Mohawk people on that main stage and also represent myself," she said, "and feel like I get to show up fully embodied as who I am, out of character as myself, and get to celebrate this thing that I'm so proud of."

ICYMI, father-son acting duo Dan Levy and Eugene Levy hosted the Emmys on Sunday night.

At this alone, Schitt's Creek fans were deeply emotional seeing Johnny and David Rose reunite like this on stage, so you can imagine the emotional rollercoaster people went on when their costar Annie Murphy (Alexis Rose) joined them on stage.

The three of them shared some delightful, Schitt's Creek-style banter, then joined forces to welcome the last member of their on-screen quartet, Catherine O'Hara (Moira Rose), who was presenting the award for outstanding comedy.

This reunion, predictably, drove fans absolutely wild.

"This was such a lovely way to close out the night. Because only seeing half of Schitt's Creek didn't feel right," wrote one person on X.

"CRYING AT THIS SCHITT’S CREEK REUNION I LOVE THEM SO MUCH," gushed someone else.

"The #Emmys ending with the Schitt’s Creek Family reunion. The best. I’m cryinggg," added another.

Others all but demanded a proper Schitt's Creek reunion now that the cast has teased us with this awards show bit.

"I have never wanted a Schitt’s Creek reboot or movie more in my life. This is all too much in the best way!" commented one social media user.

"we need the schitt’s creek reunion movie NOW," wrote another.

Schitt's Creek ran for six seasons between 2015 and 2020, and remains a comfort watch for many to this day.

While a reboot or movie adaptation is not currently in the works to the best of my knowledge, cast and crew members from the show have made it clear that it's not at all off the table.

Perhaps most tellingly, executive producer Andrew Barnsley told The Messenger in 2023, "It’s something that we know there’s demand and interest for it, really. It’s something that I know Dan and Eugene [Levy] are considering all the time, and I think it’s going to be a timing thing" (via Out).

Though on the more cautious side, Barnsley added, "The fear is: does it tarnish the legacy to go back and revisit them in the way that maybe the Entourage movie did?"

Meanwhile, Dan Levy, who co-wrote and co-created the show as well as starring in it, told E! News in December 2023, "I love the fact that people want more, but it has to beat what we've done, and that's a tough thing to do. So until the idea comes to me, who knows?

"But if it means people go back and watch the show from the beginning, not a bad thing."

O'Hara has expressed similar feelings, while Murphy took things a few steps further by pitching her own TV show.

"I think what I would like is a full Alexis spinoff where I get to just travel around the world," she told Parade in 2021. "Maybe recreate every single story that I told on Schitt's Creek, but all of the celebrity name drops have to be a part of the show.

"It might be a bit of a high price point, which might make Dan reluctant, but I'm gonna keep pitching."

Anna Sawai's breakout performance as Mariko made millions of Shōgun viewers weep. At the 2024 Emmys, she continued to provoke tears and cried herself as she made history at the award show.

The Japanese actress, who became the first Asian performer to win the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, was already emotional as she took to the stage and then gave one of the most heartfelt speeches of the night.

"I was crying before my name was announced. I'm a mess today," she began. "Thank you to The Academy for naming me alongside my fellow nominees whose work I grew up watching and love."

She continued by showing her gratitude to the team behind the hit period piece based on the 1975 novel by James Clavell. "Thank you to John Landgraf and the whole FX team for believing in our story. Thank you, Justin [Marks] and Rachel [Kondo] for believing in me and giving me this role of a lifetime. Thank you to every single one of the crew and cast led by [Hiroyuki Sanada]—Hiro’s over there," she said while gesturing to her costar who also took home an award for his performance. "He really has open doors and continues to open doors for people like me. Thank you so much. Cosmo [Jarvis], you are the most honest and truthful and no BS actor I know and you made me give my 120 percent."

She concluded her speech with a tearful shout-out to her loved ones, and the women who inspire her.

"Lastly, thank you to my team and thank you to my family. Mom, I love you. You are the reason I'm here. You showed me stoicism and that's how I was able to portray Mariko," said the star. "This is to all the women who expect nothing and continue to be an example for everyone. Thank you so much."

Earlier in the evening, Sawai arrived at the 2024 Emmys in the "dress of her dreams," a bright-red strapless gown custom-made by Vera Wang. She opted for a natural makeup look topped off with red blush, paired with an elegant low bun.

Shōgun had already made Emmys history before tonight's primetime ceremony began; last weekend, the FX show picked up 14 wins at the Creative Arts Emmys, becoming the most honored single season of television in the awards' 76 years. The custom Vera Wang piece featured a daring, strapless plunge bodice set over a voluminous layered skirt, all in the most delicious shade of candy apple red.

Welch told E! News that Sawai was wearing her "dream dress" for the evening. Had I not studied the nominees before the night's ceremony, I wouldn't have guessed she was a first-time attendee. Sawai carried herself with the poise of an Emmys-regular, who happened to be in possession of one of the ceremony's most gorgeous gowns. Then she clinched the coveted Best Lead Actress in a Drama Award for her performance in Shogun—and confirmed that she'd chosen the perfect dress to make style, and television, history. Sawai, for those who didn't know, is the first Asian woman to win Best Actress in the drama category at the Emmys.

Nicola Coughlan in Custom Prabal Gurung

I always look forward to what Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan and stylist Aimée Croysdill cook up for a red carpet, whether they're trying bespoke Wiederhoeft corsetry or dreamy Simone Rocha dresses. The duo took the fashion motto of "taking up space" to a delightful new destination at the 2024 Emmys. Coughlan arrived to present in a custom Prabal Gurung peplum dress—though peplum isn't quite the right word for the downright sculptural way her skirt curves away from her waist and over another column skirt beneath it. The all-over sequins would look at home at Beyoncé's Renaissance tour; the slightly oversized, winged shoulders and structured bodice were an evolution of an age-old red carpet silhouette.

Greta Lee in Loewe

If I weren't already married, I would re-arrange my bridal mood board to place Greta Lee's Loewe wedding dress at the center. And even then, I'm considering a vow renewal just to copy this lace dress.

Greta attended tonight's event with a supporting actress nod for her work on The Morning Show and went the avant-bridal route in a gown with one of the evening's most interesting silhouettes. Angelic, gauzy lace was twisted into an oversized neckline, from which even more yards of lace floated around her. Lee told ABC reporters that she and stylist Danielle Goldberg just wanted something "fresh." They delivered another outfit proving that the Lee-Loewe matchup is still as exciting as their meet-cute during Paris Fashion Week a few seasons ago.

Sarah Paulson in Custom Prada

When Sarah Paulson and stylist Karla Welch get together, fashion magic happens. Such was the case (once again) at the 2024 Emmys when Paulson broke up a sea of semi-naked dresses and safe LBDs with a three-tone, color-blocked Prada look. Looking at the dress from top to bottom brought a new surprise with each segment: First, the bateau neckline cerulean sheath dress! Then the longer black pencil skirt underneath! And then—wait a minute, is that a black-and-white bow train? It is, and it was one of the best styling surprises of the evening. Ayo Edebiri in Custom Bottega Veneta

I know a look is noteworthy when the Marie Claire team's Slack lights up with the "several people are typing" notification. That's exactly what happened when Ayo Edebiri arrived at the 2024 Emmy Awards in her custom Bottega Veneta dress.

The night before, she and stylist Danielle Goldberg had posted on Instagram Stories about a printed Issey Miyake suit first worn by Robin Williams. That was a red herring for the strapless, side-slit gown Edebiri would wear the following evening.

For the Emmys, the house worked with Naomi Watts and her stylist, Jeanann Williams, on a custom-made gown inspired by an archival dress circa 1961. There's no question this emerald green satin popped in a sea of more neutrally-toned gowns. And with a pair of coordinating Balenciaga knife pumps underneath, Watts brought the past and present of the designer label's history into one memorable look.

Quinta Brunson in Georges Chakra Couture

A strapless black gown can go in a million different directions. This is the version for an award-winning multi-hyphenate to command the red carpet. Quinta Brunson and stylist Jessica Paster plucked the perfect dress for Brunson's leveled-up style era from Georges Chakra Couture's Fall 2024 collection. From the structured bodice and slick, fluid black fabric, to the exaggerated trumpet skirt and even bigger bow embellishments, it's professional, poised, and just a little playful at once. The Abbott Elementary star has never looked more award-worthy.

Meryl Streep in Custom McQueen

Colorblocking became a trend of its own on the 2024 Emmys red carpet. Meryl Streep and stylist Micaela Erlanger flipped the script with a monochromatic suiting moment. This open-back, chainmail dress flowed like water and fit like a glove. Bouncy '70s curls and a deep plum lipstick also made the star's look one of the evening's best beauty moments.

Brie Larson in Custom Chanel

Allow Brie Larson to explain the intention behind her tea-length Chanel dress and matching ribbon-topped headband: "Wrapping the Lessons in Chemistry era with a bow," she wrote on Instagram. Between the layered tulle skirt, the classic pointed-toe pumps, and the ribbons woven throughout Larson's hair and bodice, it's clear that she and stylist Samantha McMillen were leaning all the way into the 1950s codes of the former's series. It was the sort of character homage that actually worked, thanks to its mix of a vintage silhouette and on-trend detailing. I wouldn't say Elizabeth Zott approves because Larson's onscreen character preferred a lab coat to a party dress. But if she had to attend Hollywood's biggest night, I think she'd have great chemistry with this chic navy and black combination.

Dakota Fanning has been a red carpet darling for nearly thirty years. Of course, she was going to serve at the Emmys when she received a fresh nomination.

To cheer on the cast of Ripley and potentially score a trophy of her own, Fanning and stylist Samantha McMillen cleverly channeled the celebratory energy of a fizzy glass of champagne. Her strapless Armani Privé gown glistened with pearl and diamond embellishments of different sizes, resembling bubbles in a bottle of, well, bubbly. With all that beading over the shimmering gold fabric of her dress, Fanning only needed an oversize pearl ring on her index finger to complete the look. Cheers.

Carrie Coon in Thom Browne Couture

Carrie Coon, the woman you are. I live for her New York City society machinations on The Gilded Age, and I'm now I'm equally obsessed with her 2024 Emmys red carpet dress styled by Alicia Lombardini. This Thom Browne piece deconstructs a white tuxedo jacket with aplomb, leaving some structure in the mixed-material bodice while allowing the pleated skirt to half-hang off her waist. From the side, it looks like a dress that's been danced into pieces; from every angle, it's another refreshing twist on the bridal-adjacent white dresses that turn up on every red carpet. I just wish Coon had worn the ornate headpiece the dress had debuted with on the Paris Couture Week runway. Hats are also part of her onscreen wardrobe—so it would have been a method dressing 2.0 moment.

Elizabeth Debicki in Dior

The 2024 Emmys featured quite a few actors winning accolades for their final seasons' performances. One of those winners was Elizabeth Debicki, who took home the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her turn as Princess Diana on The Crown while wearing Dior. Styled by Elizabeth Saltzman, Debicki exclusively told Marie Claire the dress was "very princess-y" for her. "I don't mean this to sound like too on the nose, but it's quite regal," she said. Between the low, elegant square neckline, the full velvet skirt, and the touches of De Beers diamonds on her earrings and rings, we have to agree.

Maya Erskine in Rodarte

In Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Maya Erskine plays a reluctant undercover agent. On the Emmys 2024 red carpet, she channeled a woodland fairy. Talk about an aesthetic 180.

Working with stylist Rebecca Grice, Erskine pulled a dreamy Rodarte dress with a base of peachy-pink lace that was then dotted by wispy, 3D white daisies. (The designer behind it hasn't come forward yet, but rest assured they'll get credited as soon as possible.) Complemented by a gently pulled-back updo and a bright red lip, Erskine brought a sense of understated elegance and poise to the carpet without going the usual route (that is, the LBD). She was, dare I say, demure.

Alan Cumming in Teddy Vonranson

Alan Cumming had won the evening before he even set foot on the 2024 Emmys red carpet. Last weekend at the Creative Arts Emmys, he took home a trophy honoring his hosting duties on the cult-favorite celebrity reality gameshow The Traitors.

Cumming took his duties as Traitors host seriously with a tartan-filled wardrobe to match. He brought that same highlands haute couture energy to the official Emmys carpet, wearing a cream blazer with a tartan shawl winding around the front of his jacket and over one arm. Underneath, he paid further homage to Scottish style with a black pleated kilt and black dress pants.

It's one of our best looks of the night because it's personal while still feeling fun. Just don't say that Cumming's outfit looks like Taylor Swift's Dior tartan from the 2024 VMAs. Cumming joked in an interview with People that, actually, Swift stole his look.

Writer and actor Richard Gadd vulnerably wrote about his trauma in Baby Reindeer—and the Netflix miniseries, in turn, became a must-watch TV show that took its success all the way to the Emmys.

At the 2024 Emmys, the Scottish performer won Best Writing for a Limited or Anthology series for his work on Baby Reindeer. In the true-crime hit, Gadd wrote about his own experience with a stalker, surviving sexual assault, and coming to terms with his sexuality.

As Gadd accepted the award at the Emmys held on Sunday, September 15, he took the opportunity to share a message of encouragement. "Look, 10 years ago, I was down and out, right?" he said, referring to his own story documented on Baby Reindeer. "I never, ever thought I'd get my life together. I never, ever thought I'd be able to rectify myself with what had happened to me and get myself back on my feet again."

Gadd continued, "And then here I am just over a decade later, picking up one of the biggest writing awards in television. I don't mean that to sound arrogant. I mean it as encouragement for anyone who's going through a difficult time right now to persevere."

"I don't know much about this life. I don't know why we're here, none of that, but I do know that nothing lasts forever and no matter how bad it gets, it always gets better," he concluded. "So if you're struggling, keep going, and I promise you things will be okay."

To kick off his speech, the Netflix star said being at the Emmys was "the stuff of dreams" and shouted out his collaborators and family.

In the Best Writing in a Limited Series and Anthology category, Baby Reindeer was up against Black Mirror, Fargo, Fellow Travelers, Ripley, and True Detective: Night Country.

The writing award was hardly the only win for Baby Reindeer or even Gadd at the 2024 Emmys. He also took home a prize for acting and the series secured the win for Outstanding Limited Series or Anthology.

The star was in shock as he accepted the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Anthology—especially since he beat out John Hamm, who he said he was the "biggest fan" of. The writer/actor—who was nominated against Matt Bomer (Fellow Travelers), Hamm (Fargo), Tom Hollander (Feud: Capote vs. the Swans), and Andrew Scott (Ripley)—noted that the win was unexpected and thanked his parents for their support. "They're the best and we've had some trying times as a family and they've been through there for me as a constant source of love and support," said Gadd. "The thing I'm most grateful for is they've never, ever taught me what I needed to do with my life and they never, ever taught me who I needed to be—and I think that's the greatest gift a parent can give a child."

He added, "They always said, follow your heart and the rest will fall into place. I think it's good advice."

Immediately after securing the award for his performance, Gadd came back out on stage and was joined by his costars and crew as they won Outstanding Limited Series or Anthology. The show competed against Fargo, Lessons in Chemistry, Ripley, and True Detective: Night Country.

During Gadd's third speech of the night, he spoke about how Baby Reindeer has proven that an original show without actors with name recognition can be a runaway success.

Jessica Gunning, who played Martha in the drama, also won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series—bringing the show's total wins at the ceremony up to four.

In her acceptance speech, the British actress shared a thoughtful message to her costar, Gadd, who she said she owes the "biggest thanks." "I've tried so many times to put into words what working on Baby Reindeer meant to me and I fail every time," Gunning said. "So I'm going to sing … no. No, I'll keep it simple and just say thank you for trusting me to be your Martha. I will never, ever forget her or you or this. It really means a lot."

Gunning was nominated alongside another Baby Reindeer star. Nava Mau was also up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series—and made history as the first transgender woman recognized in the category.

Baby Reindeer became a word-of-mouth and critical success for Netflix, becoming one of its most-watched shows in the weeks after its April debut. Many viewers noted how powerful it was that Gadd told a fictionalized version of his own story.

Nobody looks quite like Princess Diana—except Elizabeth Debicki, who plays her. The Crown actress, who just won the 2024 Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, is taking her resemblance to the royal onto the red carpet.

The actress’s glossy makeup appears to be a nod to Princess Diana’s classic and elegant aesthetic—right down to the pale pink lip shade, a tried and true hue for the late royal. “I wanted to focus on the perfect pout with a glossy center while keeping her skin dewy and light,” makeup artist Misha Shahzada exclusively shares with Marie Claire. “The hues were pinks and nudes, which complimented Elizabeth’s skin tone nicely.”

The resulting peachy-pink color came from a concoction of three separate shades: “I started with the Rouge Dior Balm in #000 Diornatural for lip prep, then I lined and filled her lips Rouge Dior Contour Lip Pencil in shade #259 Nude Ribbon, and topped off the center of her lips with Dior Addict Lip Maximizer in shade #001 Pink,” she adds.

Wearing a sparkling emerald-green gown, Colón-Zayas began her speech by giving a shout-out to her husband David Zayas, who also played her on-screen spouse in The Bear season 3.

"Thank you to my husband, David Zayas. He told me to write a speech and I didn't because I didn't think it would be possible," the star said, before honoring the other actresses nominated in the category. "How could I have thought it would be possible to be in the presence of Meryl Streep and Carol Burnett and Janelle [James] and Sheryl Lee Ralph and Hannah [Einbinder]. I love you all."

The actress, who plays chef Tina Marrero on the FX on Hulu comedy, then thanked and honored the women in her life and The Bear's cast and crew. "I revere you to the bottom of my heart, and other women, and my mommy. My family, my grandkids, thank you. And thank you to my beautiful cast. Chris Storer, Joanna [Calo], thank you, thank you, thank you for giving me a new life with this show."

She concluded her speech with a message to all her fellow Latina women looking up to her. "And to all the Latinas who are looking at me, keep believing and vote. Vote for your rights."

For 2024's event, Edebiri brought yet another style dynamic to the carpet. She chose a strapless dress covered in black and orange sequins—a whimsical, custom design by Bottega Veneta. It's hard for me to be unbiased about Reese Witherspoon, but I must say: The Legally Blonde legend may have outdone herself with her 2024 Emmys look styled by Petra Flannery. The actor and producer wore a black strapless Dior gown with gold flowers cascading from the bodice to the floor. Her hair was pulled back in a classic chignon, and her jewelry was kept simple with a diamond pendant choker.

Witherspoon already has one Emmy under her belt as an executive producer in the limited series category for Big Little Lies. She's also been nominated for her work as a producer on Daisy Jones & The Six and Little Fires Everywhere. The cherry red Sandy Liang skirt suit with sheer red tights and matching red Mary Janes? Perfect. The soft Khaite sweater and chunky gold earring combination for The Today Show? Divine. And her brown tweed Acne Studios jacket she wore on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will haunt my dreams forever because it's no longer in stock, but I think there's a lesson for all of us in the way she's wearing it: with a striped blue button-up, chunky gold earrings, and a pink lip.

At the 2024 Emmys on Sept. 15, we got a rare glimpse of Maya Erskine going full glam. The Mr. & Mrs. Smith actor wore a sheer nude gown by Rodarte with beaded branches and white floral appliqués climbing up the skirt, as well as puffed sleeves and a delicate ruffle around the neckline.
