When Miranda Priestly click-clacked back into The Devil Wears Prada-verse for the sequel, fans never could've predicted Valentino Rockstuds would be her circa-2025 sidekick. One TikTok content creator called it a "diabolical move and not in a good way." Little did they know, The Devil Wears Prada 2 teaser played a pivotal role in reviving Valentino Rockstud pumps, 25 years after they already achieved world domination.

While Meryl Streep's red leather pair set off debates online, it simultaneously spiked interest. Searches for "Rockstud" on luxury reseller site Fashionphile have increased 180% since The Devil Wears Prada 2 teaser dropped in mid-November. Even before then, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger, and Anne Hathaway snuck Rockstuds onto 2025's street style scene. Now, they're one of several resurgent styles making a definitive comeback on the heels of other early and mid-aughts relaunches, like Chloë's Paddington Bag, Tory Burch Reva Flats, and Hervé Léger’s bandage dresses.

Love them or hate them, fashion girls would recognize those pyramid-shaped studs anywhere. Back in 2010, when Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli were co-creative directors at Valentino, they dressed nearly every Fall 2010 model in brand-new Valentino Rockstuds. The soon-to-be-signature motif trimmed T-strap ballet flats and stilettos aplenty.

Rockstuds only returned on the runway as an embellishment for purses, but that didn't matter. By 2014, the circa-Fall 2010 footwear version ruled the shoe racks of Emma Stone, Gigi Hadid, Reese Witherspoon, Dakota Fanning, Kourtney Kardashian, Eva Longoria, and even Fergie.

Valentino Rockstuds weren't just a celebrity staple; fashion insiders on the come-up wanted pairs, too. Before she was a personal shopper to the stars, then-government worker Gab Waller bought them with her first professional paycheck in 2015.

"I used to wear [the Rockstuds] everywhere," Waller tells Marie Claire. "When a consumer is purchasing luxury for the first time, they have [consistently] gone for the Rockstud, speaking from my own experience." According to Waller, they've always been an understated yet edgy way to say, "I'm a luxury shopper" without dousing yourself in a fashion house's monogram.

Some style commentators still associate Rockstuds with a specific moment in time—hence the reactions to their comeback in the Devil Wears Prada trailer. But Valentino has widely produced them since their launch. For that reason, Chloe King, director of fashion and lifestyle at Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, says they "exist outside the trend cycle."

"Modernized details continue to do what won over shoppers years ago: offering women a high impact, supremely versatile shoe that will take them from the office and out on the town," King adds.

A closer look at celebrity street style proves they've remained in rotation well into the 2020s. Jennifer Lopez styled her first Rockstuds in 2019; Dr. Jill Biden wore them at a Sept. 2020 presidential debate; Selena Gomez and Olivia Dean boarded the bandwagon in 2023; Lopez finally flaunted her second pair—red Rockstuds with slingback kitten heels—in 2025.

2025 was the biggest year for Rockstuds since 2013, largely thanks to The Devil Wears Prada 2 and now-creative director Alessandro Michele. That wasn't an accident. Valentino head of brand and product marketing Quoc-Anh Truong Cornette noted on LinkedIn the Rockstuds were deliberately placed in the trailer.

That bit of marketing-meets-movie magic proved successful in the end. One TikTok creator responded to Rockstud naysayers saying, "I am not falling for the anti-Valentino Rockstud propaganda." Another fan even splurged on a vintage pair because she suspected "they're on the verge of a major comeback."

By Dec. 2025, Michele debuted his take on Valentino Rockstuds in the Pre-Fall 2026 look book, placing the embellishment across ten new silhouettes. Waiting a few months into his tenure was a deliberate move. "I didn’t want to do this the day after I arrived here, because I found it weird and I didn’t know this territory so well," he told WWD.

By staying true to trademark Rockstud elements—including pointy toe boxes, ankle straps, and slim stilettos—Michele opened the shoes up to a nostalgia-driven generation of shoppers. "As newer generations discover cultural touchstones from the aughts, it makes perfect sense that the Rockstud would find an energized new following," King says.

Michele-era Rockstuds could very well share the same celebrity-beloved fate as their predecessors. One month after launch, the Pre-Fall 2026 stilettos flooded Michele's Spring 2026 Couture front row. Newly-minted Valentino ambassador Dakota Johnson arrived in a black, T-strap pair.

Tyla followed close behind Johnson at the Paris Haute Couture Week show in new Valentino Rockstuds. Her polka-dotted pair boasted yellow gold studs from heel to toe.

The Valentino Rockstud 2.0 has been public knowledge for three months, but Michele's version has yet to hit the market. (You'll need a personal shopper like Waller to track down a pair.) That said, it's unclear how shoppers will respond to new Rockstuds. Will Michele's take become as synonymous with his tenure as Chiuri and Piccioli's?

"Demand did decrease when Rockstuds were everywhere in the mid-2010s," Waller says. "I hope this time around they're [released] in more of a limited way, whether that's with colors or heel shapes to create the demand that's been lost over the years."

It seems she forecasted Valentino's plan: Not a single pair appeared in January's Couture lineup. Nevertheless, the clientele craves a full-on Rockstud renaissance. Ahead of the official relaunch, some shoppers are already buying the 26-year-old rendition once again.

When the lights came up on Paris Fashion Week's final shows, the buzziest model castings weren't Gen Z fresh faces. They were women who had experience developing their taste on and off the runway.

Stephanie Cavalli, a model in her 50s, opened Matthieu Blazy's Fall 2026 Chanel show in a chic quarter-zip and the handbag everyone will be shopping for by September. A day later, Miu Miu populated its vibe-shift collection with the likes of Gillian Anderson and Chloë Sevigny: one on her first runway ever, the latter returning after a 30-year hiatus. They wrapped up a fashion month where mature models in their 40s, 50s, and beyond ruled the call sheet—proof that designers, even in a male-dominated industry, understand that caring about style doesn't have an age limit.

Across the fashion month circuit, mature models seemed more prevalent than ever before. Casting ranged from designers choosing their favorite muses to selecting women who mirrored their store customers (or those in their front rows). At New York Fashion Week, Carolina Herrera's creative director Wes Gordon tapped a range of established creatives, like photographer Ming Smith and artist Amy Sherald. TWP's show the same week had models in their 20s and 50s wearing cozy shawl coats together; Martha Stewart was the guest of honor, taking it all in. Michael Kors and Calvin Klein also reserved some of their most noteworthy looks on the most experienced models. Broadening the age range on the runway isn't just a nostalgia play, as seen in Demna's stunt-casting of Mariacarla Boscono (45) and Kate Moss (52) alongside several celebrity-turned-models in his first runway outing for Gucci. It's also a sign that luxury players understand the enduring nature of style—and the growth of their customer base. Women across generations can appreciate a handcrafted leather bag, a semi-sheer dress spangled with crystals, or a high-vamp heel. When it's time for those highly-anticipated It pieces to land on shelves, guess who's established enough in their career (or even comfortably into retirement), to actually shop those five-figure pieces at the Paris stores?

Age-inclusive casting has been done in previous seasons, of course. Batsheva Hay exclusively cast models who were at least in middle-age for her Fall 2024 show. Last September at Miu Miu, Anatomy of a Fall star Sandra Hüller opened the runway with a subversive take on the apron dress. What's different for 2026 is that the memo is widespread. Women of varied ages are wearing just as diverse a range of styles; no one's confined to just one dress trend (or matronly set).

But it seems the impetus for representing all the women who could belong to a designer's girl gang stopped at checking their IDs. As Marie Claire has previously reported, size inclusivity has been on the decline for several seasons—even as curve-enhancing hoop skirts and panniers have become a popular motif. For the past two seasons, according to a Vogue Business study, plus-size models accounted for an abysmal less than one percent of runway slots.

Before official statistics on Fall 2026 castings were released, it was already looking like curves were left out of the conversation again. Ashley Graham may have walked Harris Reed's final Nina Ricci show at London Fashion Week, and Devyn Garcia joined the lineup at Hermès, but those shows were outliers. Sure enough: Vogue Business reported March 23 that plus-size representation didn't rise above a single percentage point in any major market. Only 0.3% of total looks were plus-size, and 2.1% were mid-size.

Seeing designers champion models who've been in the business for decades is, of course, something to celebrate. Here's the thing: The arguments they make in favor of expanding one demographic in their line-ups can apply to so many more. After Chanel's January couture show, where several women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s walked the runway, Matthieu Blazy told The New York Times that mature models "bring a completely different dimension to the clothes." Can't the same be said for everyone beyond the usual mold? When everyone's a potential customer, inclusivity shouldn't be an "either-or." It should be a "yes, and."

According to my favorite fashion girls, I'm severely underestimating the power of tattoos. Not the wince-inducing, permanent kind, but temporary, fresh-from-a-birthday-party tattoos. First, Chappell Roan debuted faux back tattoos at the 2026 Grammys. On March 10, Tyla took tattoo styling to the next level: Her entire going-out top turned out to be a tattoo.

Tyla's Paris Fashion Week run didn't end with her final runway show. She reserved her last—and most daring—Fashion Month 'fit for Paris's Crazy Horse cabaret. Stylist Ronnie Hart sourced Maison Margiela alum Simon Carle for his signature, a tattoo-turned-shirt.

Ten separate, square-shaped tattoos came together to mirror a skintight, snakeskin jacket across Tyla's torso and back. (Zoom in to see the imitation, moto-style zippers atop her chest.) The tattoos continued down each arm, before stopping at the waistband of her dark-wash jeans.

Tyla helped Carle preserve his backless trademark: This tattoo only covered her front profile. The snakeskin stopped dramatically underneath her arms. Luckily for Carle, Tyla never shies away from an open back, even on red carpets. In late January, she attended a pre-Grammys Gala in a plunging, Dsquared2 cut-out gown. Similar to the tattoo, the "Water" singer's back remained untouched by its silky black fabric.

To spotlight Carle's creation, Tyla kept the rest of her post-fashion week look simple. Her unbuttoned, low-rise jeans and metallic DSquared2 heels matched each other's early-aughts energy. Tyla's snakeskin tattoo also inspired her evening-out It-bag: a python Valentino Panthea. The same chevron pattern has graced Bella Hadid, Jenna Ortega, and Rihanna's arms—just not with coordinating, temporary body ink.

Before Tyla, celebrities hadn't tested Carle's tattoos for themselves. But Charli xcx wore one of his proper garments to January's Sundance Film Festival. The Grammy winner's stylist, Chris Horan, dressed her in a tank top-inspired mini dress, which emerged from beneath a transparent rain poncho. Stark white lace decorated the thigh-high, PVC hem.

However, outside show venues, street stylers have embraced more of a spring-forward appeal while dressing for 50-degree weather. On a tree-lined sidewalk, one PFW attendee posed in a pair of calf-length capri pants and a cropped jacket. Elsewhere, another guest championed an effortless French-girl vibe with a lightweight coat layered over a breezy midi skirt. With balmy temperatures and budding florals right around the corner, I’m planning to get ahead of the season by referencing the streets of Paris for outfit inspiration—and I’d suggest you do the same.

If you can believe it, Miu Miu has yet to reach Anderson's red carpet clothing rack. The Fall 2026 show doubled as her first time wearing Miu Miu in public, let alone on the sartorial world's stage. Still, the Want author looked every bit a runway regular.

Anderson rehearsed for this moment on L'Oréal Paris's unofficial runway last September. Her silver Saiid Kobeisy Fall 2025 gown stole the show at the Paris Fashion Week-adjacent fête. After watching runway shows for the past 30 years, let's hope Anderson's switch from guest-to-model is a permanent one. If only Georges Vuitton could see his Monogram now. Louis Vuitton's son, Georges, introduced the "ornamental pattern of interlaced LV initials and stylized floral motifs" in 1896, according to the brand. Since then, it's become the chain that links the Neverfull, Speedy, Alma, Keepall, and more models together. The Monogram has also cemented itself as a badge of prestige among Hollywood's elite. Everyone from Zendaya and Rihanna to Taylor Swift and Beyoncé wears the print with pride.

Louis Vuitton's Monogram is a lesson in legacy, as the maison upholds and expands beyond its 19th-century roots. Last year, Miu Miu’s sales spiked by 35 percent to a grand total of 1.5 billion euros. That’s a record high for the label, not to mention a near miracle in times like these. (Like most industries, luxury fashion is financially struggling.) Call it the Miuccia Prada Midas touch. Mrs. Prada—who has a Ph.D. in political science, dresses Gen Z darlings like Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter, and did a show taking on “tradwives” last season—captures the zeitgeist like no other. While other designers chase virality, she goes after vibe shifts.

She did it again with Miu Miu’s Fall 2026 show, presented on the final day of Paris Fashion Week and in the last few hours of fashion month. The label commandeered the Palais d'Iéns, a concrete rotunda built in 1937, and transformed it into an enchanted forest. A lumpy grass field was custom-installed for the runway. Guests, including Daisy Edgar-Jones, Alexa Chung, Tyla, and Paloma Elsesser, sat on mahogany velvet benches in a room wallpapered with kitschy grandma florals.

A weathered-looking grey suit, nipped in with a belt just below the bust, walked out first. Then came bow-bedecked mini dresses rendered in crushed linen and double-washed cashmere. Cropped leather jackets paired with matching trousers slung low on the hips and fur-lined parkas paired with thin slip skirts followed. Immortal It girl Chloë Sevigny wore a black distressed leather mini dress and blazer trimmed with shaggy shearling that looked like it had been around the block for a few decades.

A glossy, gimmick-filled runway engineered to do the rounds on Instagram Reels, this was not. Titled "Mindful Intimacy," Miu Miu's latest explored "the smallness of our human bodies, in the vastness of our world," per show notes.

Once again, Prada was asking us to lead with our heads and hearts, rather than fall for the easy shock value of naked dressing and sparkles. The bow motifs were a reference to underwear. ("The clothes that are closest to you," in show-notes terms.) Sheer drop-waist dresses showed skin only in strategic, subtle slices; a makeup-free Gillian Anderson of The X-Files and Sex Education fame wore a flapper-style sheath flecked with gold and silver sequins to close the show. Prada described these as a wearable form of TLC: "garments embrace the body, prioritizing and valuing that inside."

All in all, Prada wrote, this Miu Miu chapter conveys "an ownership and agency of your own body, your own self and value—a warm sensuality, a warm sexuality." The theme of choice was evident in the salmon satin cami layered under a see-through tank and bottom frills of a bow peeking out from under a babydoll blazer—stylings that reiterate that the wearer is in control of their clothing. Same with the shoes; Miu Miu’s runway stylist Lotta Volkova paired those bow mini dresses with chunky silver-sparkle sneakers and gorp-y rubber-soled garden clogs, both of which will do numbers among freaky shoe fans.

Individuality—expressing it, preserving it—has long been a Miu Miu core value. The brand’s Spring 2026 collection explored the same concept, albeit with a vastly different and more explicit approach. Last season focused almost entirely on apron dresses, a symbol of a woman’s work that Prada subverted by embellishing the style with silver studs and rendering it in kinky black leather.

Instead of a sharp rejection of what women are "supposed to" be, do, and look like, Miu Miu Fall 2026 highlights the soft power that comes just from getting dressed. It’s a more heady thesis of what every fashion publication and Substack author has been preaching about for several seasons now: personal style trumps all. "Clothes that are a method of self-preservation, a means of valuing that inside. They emblematize the individual, and in turn the identity of Miu Miu, itself," as Prada wrote.

While other brands seek out quick-hit trends, Prada dials it back and urges us to be more considered and romantic in what we wear, recognizing it's so much more than just fabric on our bodies. She’s playing chess, not checkers.

There's a new Miu Miu girl in town. On March 10, Miuccia Prada welcomed Tyla to her latest fashion show inside Paris's Place d'Iéna. The first-timer arrived in head-to-toe Miu Miu—per the dress code—plus a noughties-inspired take on the peekaboo boxers trend.

You wouldn't know the Fall 2026 show marked Tyla's Miu Miu debut. (Before now, she only wore the maison's monogram for magazine features.) Stylist Ron Hartleben dressed her like a longtime Miu Miu girl, not with the apron dress trend, but another Spring 2026 set. Tyla made a gray crewneck-tank hybrid her own by removing the runway’s baby blue button-down underneath. A two-inch band replaced a full-coverage back, which created plunging cut-outs on either side of her top.

Zendaya returned to Cour Carrée du Louvre in Paris in a circa-Spring 2026 two-piece, which just so happened to be all-white. (Stylist Law Roach knew what he was doing.) Just like on the runway, her front-row 'fit began with a fitted button-down. An elongated, extra-pointy collar, plus matching cuffs added visual interest to the workwear staple.

Then, a thick black belt with silver hardware concealed the waistband of The Drama actor's stark white skirt. (On creative director Nicolas Ghesquière's Spring 2026 runway, a striped scarf doubled as a belt.) It appeared to be crafted from the same structured cotton as her top. What started as a thigh-grazing bubble skirt—a Spring 2025 trend only Zendaya could bring back for round two—cascaded into a high-low hem.

Pleated, petal-like strands added additional movement to the skirt's back. Without her signature So Kate stilettos from Christian Louboutin, the dress might've dragged on the Louvre's pavement. Thankfully, the familiar five-inch pumps were present and accounted for.

Zendaya's last Louis Vuitton show marked her engagement ring's Paris Fashion Week debut. Today, however, the five-carat sparkler from Jessica McCormack was noticeably missing. The button-back, east-west diamond traded places with two gemstone-less bands.

First, Zendaya slipped on the classic gold wedding band first seen with her minimalist outfit on Feb. 18. Zendaya layered Cartier's $4,200 Clash de Cartier Ring on top, instead of the estimated $120,000 trendsetter. It's unclear if the newlywed showcased her official wedding ring stack, or if she's flaunting her Cartier brand ambassador status. Cartier's same modular studs returned atop $5,550 hoop earrings and a matching $12,300 bracelet. To complement the mixed-metal nature of her ring stack, Zendaya styled Cartier's Love Unlimited Bracelet—the $9,400 bangle she wore for a The Drama photoshoot last week—in 18k yellow gold. Unlike the silver hoops, ring, and bracelet, her Love band is sold out online.

Zendaya's longtime fans know she doesn't attend Fashion Month for just any runway show. Louis Vuitton is the only atelier that can count on her RSVP for the front row. She's been a face of the house for several years, fronting campaigns for its rare collaborations, and wearing bespoke Louis Vuitton gowns to awards shows and movie premieres.

Given Zendaya's allegiance, there's a chance Ghesquière was the brain behind her wedding gown. Louis Vuitton might never confirm or deny its involvement in Zendaya and Tom Holland's special day, however. They're one of Hollywood's most private couples. "It will probably be a wedding dress that nobody will ever see," Roach told Complex last May. "They [just] try to be as private as possible so there won't be a Vogue spread; there won't be pictures of the wedding."

I, for one, didn't expect to see Oprah Winfrey in one front row, let alone four, at Paris Fashion Week.

The media mogul first returned to Fashion Month last September, when she attended Ralph Lauren and Christian Siriano's Spring 2026 shows. For the 2026 circuit, Winfrey traded New York Fashion Week for Paris. Despite skipping Paris Fashion Week for seven years straight, she fit in with the front-row regulars at Stella McCartney's Fall 2026 show. Instead of jetting home right after McCartney's showing, Winfrey scored invites to some of the season's buzziest soirées. Winfrey attended her first fashion show as early as Spring 2003, but before now, her appearances were slim to none. It seems the author is eager to change that. Why the sudden return? Next fall's must-have jackets zip all the way up and come with four brass-buttoned pockets—at least, according to the opening looks on this runway. They'll feel more elevated than a fall pullover when they're paired with a coordinating knit midi skirt or dress, plus the resurgent shoe trend ahead.

The High-Vamp Heel

The shoppers flooding Chanel's Paris stores during fashion week have two items high on their wish lists: the flap bags with extra-long straps and the high vamp heels with two-tone detailing. Sizes are selling out quickly, but shoe collectors are in luck. Matthieu Blazy is bringing back the foot-hugging heel silhouette—what Marie Claire editor Lauren Tappan calls an anti-naked shoe—this fall. The matching blazer on top made her "feel really fierce and powerful," she told WWD after the show. Beyond her own front-row 'fit, she was drawn to the Fall 2026 fête's production: "I think the layout was so cool, having the models walk and then changing the outfits so you could really see the layering going on." The Cutting Room Floor podcast host Recho Omondi followed editors from several influential magazines and Substacks as they sampled intentionally distressed flap bags and two-tone heels. Stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson dedicated an edition of her newsletter, Brain Matter, to sharing her group chat's efforts to shop the collection before it sold out. (Spoiler: It did.)

All this Chanel shopping might surprise you if you've been watching its prices. The bags that fashion girls are losing their collective minds over, after all, cost at least $5,000.

The luxury fashion industry cooled last year after a pandemic-era boom, but price hikes have remained a constant at boutiques along the Champs-Élysées (including Chanel). But the industry is slated for a recovery—at least at houses where designers can provide enough bang for elite shoppers' buck. According to Deloitte's 2026 "Global Powers of Luxury" report, a majority of 420 executives surveyed said "value outweighs volume" in terms of recovering closet share. Translated from CEO-speak: The designers who make pieces that are truly special are the ones who will bounce back this year, even if they're still charging four or five figures.

So far, it seems Matthieu Blazy and Chanel are the first to crack the code on pieces that clients will go the distance to wear. All of the heritage from the Gabrielle Chanel era is still present in the chain link straps and that unmissable logo. Splashes of color like turquoise and persimmon red, or shapes that contort the usual Chanel silhouette, make these buys feel like more than a smart investment.

"People doubted if the collection would sell," one commenter remarked on Omondi's shopping video. "I guess this settles that argument."

On day seven of Paris Fashion Week, Tyla graced Jean Paul Gaultier's Fall 2026 front row in true pop star form: Her cone bra-turned-dress paid homage to the Queen of Pop, Madonna.

Jean Paul Gaultier was the brain behind cone bras back in the early '80s. Madonna gave the Fall 1984 design another life during her 1990 "Blonde Ambition" tour. "When Madonna first called me in 1989, it was two days before my ready-to-wear show, and I thought my assistant was joking. I was a big fan," Gaultier told The New York Times in 2020. "She knew what she wanted—a pinstripe suit, the feminine corsetry. She liked my clothes because they combine the masculine and the feminine."

For his first two seasons, Celine creative director Michael Rider favorite preppy codes that gestured to his DNA as a former designer at Ralph Lauren and the industry's broader fascination with all things old money and Ivy League. It manifested in oversize rugby shirts and printed silk scarves; striped ties and wicker bags; double-breasted navy blazers and the occasional blue jean. Celine Fall 2026 took on a different, distinct flavor. Obvious "prep" hallmarks went missing March 7 on the Institut de France runway. The replacements can't be neatly fit into another aesthetic box.

Celine's runway oscillated from Diane Keaton-esque black hats over slim trousers and a curved wool coat, to matching sets of asymmetrically-cut tunics over a billowing trouser, to a leopard print, high-collar jacket over bright red, kick-flare pants. The palette remained grounded in neutrals, but not with the same stoicism as, say, The Row. Wraparound coats and the occasional graphic print knit dress came punctuated by a lipstick red bag or a scarf wrapped high around the model's chin. There was something off-kilter about each look; a detail or shape that made you want to lean in.

In show notes, Michael Rider called the upcoming season's mix "sharpening the pencil" and "rejecting the idea of a 'concept.'" This Celine isn't trying to stay in a single lane in the same way some designer's labels have become shorthand for "bohemian" or "sexy."

"At its best, Celine is a style: a mix of old and new that feels urgent and dreamy," Rider explained. "Making the things we all dream of finding and wearing." Who dreams in copy-and-paste templates? The woman who appreciates the charm of wearing a seashell necklace with a wintry turtleneck definitely doesn't.

"I love when messy, complex, layered inner lives come through underneath great clothes. Thinking about people with style who wear beautiful clothes in a personal way," Rider added in his show letter. They're picking up pieces here and there as they live their lives—one thing at a thrift store, another on a vacation abroad, another passed down from a family member—and putting them together in idiosyncratic ways. Like, say, a pailette-coated dress under a well-loved trench coat; or, a purple, longline coat juxtaposed with a bright red turtleneck and heaps of kooky necklaces—plus, a pillbox hat.

A single aesthetic label can't apply to this collection no matter how hard you try. But that's why Celine's Fall 2026 fashion show was so good. True, enduring style defies easy categorization.

Olivia Rodrigo has a knack for sourcing vintage dresses older than her. The Fall 2026 Cecilie Bahnsen x The North Face capsule is comprised of outerwear and bags in navy and black, which have been Bahnsen-ified with embroidery and the designer's signature 3D floral embellishments. Pieces were interspersed throughout the looks, styled with the main collection, to really showcase how these fit into the Cecilie Bahnsen wardrobe.

"What we wanted to show was how you wear it and layer it, how the girls put and throw it on as they're building their looks," the designer told Marie Claire backstage, "this way of translating this utilitarianism of the collection together with the feminine."

The Cecilie Bahnsen team even invited dancers into its studio, to have them weigh in on how they'd style the pieces—like, "'Oh, if I wear my hoodie with this, I will roll it because you need to capture me by the waist when I jump,' or 'I need to be able to flare the skirt,'" Bahnsen recalls. "All of these things became a dialogue as we were creating."

The co-branded collection first debuted on Bahnsen's Spring 2025 catwalk; the second drop came Fall 2025, the third Spring 2026. It's become one of Bahnsen's most beloved partnerships, bringing unabashed femininity to The North Face's technical staples, from parkas to water-repellent slip-on shoes, and introducing styles not previously associated with outdoor activities. (Quilted down mini skirts, anyone?) For The North Face, this is the latest in quite the fashion streak: Over the past few years, the brand has linked up with Gucci and, more recently, Skims, on co-designed capsules.

Designing not just with another company, but one with such technical elements and quality benchmarks has challenged Bahnsen. The product "isn't just for show—it's to live in and explore," she said. Some ideas still prove to be tricky; she points to a new Cecilie Bahnsen x The North Face down jacket with ditzy floral embroidery as having been "complicated" because of the combination of delicate embroideries and functionality.

Still, the process has expanded her design language to now include some of these more technical finishes even in non-The North Face looks. Cecilie Bahnsen's Fall 2026 collection freely incorporates cinch-able bungee drawcords, buckles, vests, and other hallmarks of outdoor clothing into sheer embroidered maxi dresses, organza jackets, and floral mini dresses. Outerwear has also become a bigger focus for the brand, due in part to the The North Face collaboration's popularity.

Bright and early on day four of Paris Fashion Week, Pidgeon channeled her Love Story character's effortlessness en route to a mysterious appointment. First, the Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy lookalike layered a white T-shirt beneath a black crewneck. She wore a shoulder-padded, black blazer: CBK's signature coat substitute in the late '90s. The noughties similarities continued with Pidgeon's straight-leg jeans. Her cigarette-shaped pair complemented the current trend cycle too—Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, and Bella Hadid rarely wear different silhouettes right now.

Pidgeon finished with high-shine leather accessories, including pointy black ankle boots and Balenciaga's glossy Rodeo Bag in the "Tan Cowboy" shade.

Balenciaga released the Rodeo Bag two Februarys ago in small, medium, and large sizes. Pidgeon chose the still-spacious Medium, in chestnut-colored, vegetable-tanned lambskin. The $4,750 top-handle tote started with a ladylike flap and a silver turnlock. That's where the Rodeo got increasingly slouchy. When open, it embodied the pickpocket-friendly, one-strap bag trend seen on Spring 2026 runways from Fendi, Chanel, Loewe, and Dior. Pidgeon kept her turnlock closed, and yet, each side gusset offered a sneak peek into the bag's body.

Pidgeon is the latest fashion girl to board the It-bag's bandwagon, following Hailey Bieber. The Rhode founder first displayed the Rodeo's lived-in charm in a Feb. 2024 Instagram Story. By October 2024, another Rodeo—featuring croc-embossed leather—joined her collection. It complemented every style on her shoe rack, including Miu Miu Mary Janes, The Row loafers, and more.

Fast foward to May 2025, and the smaller Tan Cowboy Rodeo popped up on Tate McRae's arm in Paris. Every standout element on Pidgeon's Rodeo—like the top-flap, silver hardware, and one-strap silhouette—returned on McRae's bag at half the size.

A few months later, Lori Harvey put suede Rodeos on shoppers' radars. Vegetable-tanned leather traded places with "camel waxed suede calfskin," according to the bag's listing. It didn't take Harvey long to splurge on another Balenciaga Rodeo, though. Her second (now sold-out) style was brown, croc-embossed and with silver hardware.

It doesn't take an accessories expert to knight the Balenciaga Rodeo as an It-bag. With endorsements from Bieber, Harvey, McRae, and now Pidgeon, it's past the point of "trend" and well on its way to "standard" status. It takes a special maison to end a celebrity's Fashion Month hiatus. Four years after Olivia Rodrigo's last fashion show, she found her rightful place at Chloé's Fall 2026 show. Despite it being her second-ever runway appearance, Rodrigo channeled front-row regulars in a Spring 2026 dress trend, accessorized with a Chloé Paddington Bag.

Rodrigo arrived at Paris Fashion Week on March 4, one day before creative director Chemena Kamali debuted her 56-piece collection. She wasted no time selecting her look: a spaghetti-strap, powder pink slip, featuring sheer ivory lace along the empire waistline and ankle-grazing hem. "I picked it yesterday," Rodrigo told WWD. "I just thought it was sweet and pretty and very Chloé and so, I feel cute."

Butter yellow, peep-toe mules emerged from beneath the skirt's lace trim. Like a true bohemian, Rodrigo stacked Chloé's three-strand, $650 charm pendant necklace atop her lace-trimmed décolletage. The elongated center charm paid homage to the Year of the Horse, without being too explicitly equestrian.

Since Rodrigo's Chloé wardrobe has so far been limited to a Spring 2001 pair of horse-printed pants at Billboard's 2023 Women in Music event, the atelier gave her the full Chloé treatment. That included the Paddington Bag, a re-issue of Chloé's most recognizable bag style from the early aughts. (Spring 2005, specifically.) Known for its oversize padlock, elongated shoulder straps, and slouchy east-west body, it was impossible to miss on Rodrigo's arm.

The "Vampire" singer hasn't attended a fashion show since the Spring 2023 season. In Sept. 2022, she made her Fashion Month debut in Givenchy's front row, dressed in a similar lace-trimmed slip. That time, it traded an empire waistline for a deep V-shaped bodice, lined with transparent white lace. The asymmetrical piping returned atop its ankle-length hem, before a single-breasted coat and platform pumps continued the color story.

Though four years apart, Rodrigo's front row 'fits are surprisingly aligned with the current trend cycle. Ferragamo, 3.1 Phillip Lim, N°21, Blumarine, and more declared similar lacy slips the leading It-dress of Spring 2026. Soon after, Marie Claire fashion contributor Irina Grechko flagged them as "one of spring’s most wearable ways to tap into the season’s ongoing nakedness theme." She added, "The delicate edging adds softness to slip and V-neck silhouettes in silk and satin without feeling overly precious." If that was the vibe Rodrigo had in mind for the Chloé show, she absolutely aced it.

H&M always has something coming down the pipeline—a designer collaboration, a capsule inspired by a movie or TV show, a riff on whatever's trending any given season. However, H&M Studio, its more premium biannual offering, remains one of its most anticipated and sought-after launches.

Released in limited quantities for spring and fall only, H&M Studio has been around for over a decade. (The first collection came out in 2013.) Still, the brand is increasingly interested in how it can "build it as this signature label," Ann-Sofie Johansson, Head of Womenswear Design at H&M, tells Marie Claire. Part of that meant launching the Essentials capsule last fall, which drops ahead of the full collection and consists of reliable daily staples that can layer in with more special pieces. This allowed them to make the H&M Studio main line "more directional and really tell a story."

Because of its limited-edition nature, H&M Studio "can really push fashion and be more conceptual," Johansson says. It also let the brand to build a narrative around each season.

The brand staged an intimate off-calendar presentation for its Spring 2026 drop on the first day of London Fashion Week at 14 Cavendish, an 18th-century mansion that's been gutted and stripped back to its peeling paint walls. It was a much quieter affair than the 700-guest runway show featuring Lila Moss, Alex Consani, and Paloma Elsesser H&M staged back in September for its autumnal offering. And whereas that collection was all about the contrast between "soft and hard, feminine, masculine," its latest is all about welcoming a little weirdness into your wardrobe.

"We started to talk about eccentricity and what is eccentric today," Johansson explains. "Maybe we need a little bit more of eccentricity, since the world is looking like it is... Eccentric means off-center. So, who's off-center? Somebody that dares to go the wrong way, somebody that's a little bit more rebellious and maybe leads the way."

While, like many major brands, H&M has begun using AI in different aspects of the business, including design, the team wanted to go analog with the process, according to Johansson. The only exception: the graphic floral prints on a T-shirt and scarf.

Also on the mood board were the women ofGrey Gardens and the Kennedys. Though, Johansson notes she wasn't aware of the Ryan Murphy-produced Love Story series centered around JFK, Jr. and Carolyn Bessette until after the collection's completion.

The goal was to reframe how you think about the clothes and see new possibilities in them: "How do you use your pants? Are they just a pair of pants, or can you use them for something else?" That "attitude" informed the design of the pieces, which are littered with details that allow you to change and adjust how they're worn and "make it a little bit weird." See: additional buttons that allow you to make a top look tilted or a looser cut on a coat that gives it more of a "robe-like" feel. (To really bring attention to these touches, H&M set up magnifying glasses throughout the preview, so guests could appreciate them.)

H&M Studio Essentials returns, too, with an emphasis on layers and separates that complement the main line; can be styled multiple ways; and are made using premium materials, such as wool-cashmere blends and Pima cottons. These are "the backbone of your wardrobe," Johansson says.

In general, H&M Studio collections are less trend-focused, more timeless than the rest of the retailer's assortment. (You'll always find tailoring and leather in there, for instance.) They build upon one another, where you can mix and match pieces from different seasons and they can live in your closet for a long, long time. Every season adds something to this wardrobe; for Spring 2026, it's "that weirdness, that wackiness, that twist," according to Johansson.

"This feels more playful, but also a little bit more intellectual," she says. " Maybe it's a tough word to use when it comes to fashion. But you have to look close. You have maybe to think about it one more time... People want a little bit more to chew on sometimes. It should be wearable all the time, it's still H&M, but it [has] the right amount of chewiness. It's not too much and it's not too little. It has a certain soul to it."

Dior's latest fashion show started the week strong, helped by guests dressed in Jonathan Anderson's debut collection. Rugby shirts juxtaposed floral skirts and teeny tiny bows dotted the bags—lessons in intentionally mixing up an outfit's vibe everywhere you turn. By Saint Laurent that evening, sleek minimalism in the form of strong-shouldered black jackets and hints of lace took over. (Even on the runway, where Bella Hadid was modeling.) A slate continuing with Cecilie Bahnsen, Schiaparelli, Celine, Hermès, and more guaranteed head-turning moments worth snapping a photo (or several) for later inspiration.

At Dior's Fall 2026 fashion show, jeans were long enough to graze the runway. One day later on the streets of Paris, Anya Taylor-Joy decided her pair needed some early-2000s styling in addition to a Dior jacket pulled straight from the show.

Instead of your average goody bag, it seems creative director Jonathan Anderson sent Taylor-Joy home with a brocade Dior coat. Of course, she wasted no time sharing its shearling-lined, peplum hem with Paris's street style scene. Just like the model, Taylor-Joy styled it as a top over her spring denim. From the waist down, however, the Dune actor took creative liberties.

She traded Dior's crystal-scalloped jeans for a cuffed, rhinestone-free pair. Rolling up each hem a few inches showcased pointy black pumps: a retro replacement for the Dior collection's suede ankle boots, and a bat signal for millennials to dust off their own classic black heels.

Senior fashion news editor Halie LeSavage immediately flagged Taylor-Joy's endorsement of this era-defining duo for Millennials: cuffed jeans and black pumps. No one could escape its grasp back in the day (the day being 2005 to 2010), not even Tracee Ellis Ross, Katie Holmes, or Lauren Conrad. Ross, for one, brought the set as her plus-one to Proenza Schouler's Fall 2005 show. She rolled her jeans up so high, they bordered on capris.

By 2008, Conrad and Holmes's denim got the black pumps treatment. The former preferred skinny jeans, while the latter's pants and heels matched each other's bulkiness. Fast forward to 2013, and Selena Gomez rarely took off her black Christian Louboutins and rolled-up jeans. Needless to say? It was a right of passage for early- and mid-aughts It girls.

Cuffed jeans and black pumps aren't so much a trend as a blast to the past. Plus, by simply unrolling each hem, the look instantly transforms from nostalgic to classically French. (Unless you wear them with high-vamp flats like Kendall Jenner, that's a different story.) But stay tuned. They could reach trend-revival status before you can say Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County.

This is The Close-Up, where the biggest names in entertainment explain the story behind their latest personal style statement.

For Shay Mitchell, Paris Fashion Week didn't open with a runway, technically. Her first day began at a Barry's workout class hosted by Dior. (Seriously: The $3,950 Toujours Tote doubled as her gym bag.) But less than 24 hours later, Mitchell traded Red Room-proof athleisure for "elevated" Dior tailoring in the Fall 2026 fashion show's front row.

Mitchell and Dior aren't strangers: She scored an invite to the maison's Cruise 2025 show in Scotland, after all. But she'd never seen Dior in all its Parisian glory, much less under the direction of new creative director, Jonathan Anderson. Catching up via email from her flight home to L.A., Mitchell tells Marie Claire it was worth the journey and the gym class. The show "felt very Dior, but with a fresh perspective," she says.

Mitchell got to see another side of the new Dior woman at Anderson's second womenswear show—a whimsical one only enhanced by the lily pad-dense pond set up in the famed Jardin des Tuileries. "Jonathan has such a strong creative point of view, and I thought the way he brought together the garden setting, florals, and beautiful tailoring was incredible," Mitchell says.

When Mitchell received Dior's invite—two pocket-size recreations of the Jardin's green chairs—she gathered she was in for a "romantic" treat. So she reinterpreted the look of modern-day visitors in a ladylike skirt set. "Lately I’ve been drawn to strong tailoring and clean silhouettes," hence her fitted blazer and micro-mini skirt.

Not a single frill, ruffle, or appliqué interrupted the blazer and mini skirt's black-and-white herringbone fabric. Well, unless you count itty-bitty rhinestones that only sparkled when the Parisian sun—or mood lighting in her five-star hotel—hit them just right.

The suit signaled a minimalist shift in Mitchell's fashion show style. In late January, Marie Claire assumed she called herself a capital-M maximalist, judging by her intricately-beaded green top at Valentino's Spring 2026 Couture show.

Turns out, she was just embodying a character, just as she's done on Pretty Little Liars, You, and more. "Couture is a moment to step out of your comfort zone and really have fun with fashion," Mitchell says. "For ready-to-wear, I usually gravitate toward pieces that feel elevated but a little more effortless."

You can see this preference reflected in Dior accessories, like her black Bow Bag. The Spring 2026 style's defining feature is a magnetized leather bow, in place of a classic zip-top closure. It's the definition of the outfit-finishers Mitchell loves best: "pieces that feel put together but still confident and feminine."

Instead of the sky-high heels Mitchell typically wears at fashion shows, she chose Mary Janes capable of strolling comfortably to her front-row seat. (Jennifer Lawrence debuted Mitchell's croc-embossed pair at last October's Dior show.) A pale pink rose—perhaps from the bush Anya Taylor-Joy found outside her hotel?—became Mitchell's last-minute plus-one.

If Mitchell burst onto the runway half-way through the show, no one would've batted an eye. Between the timeless pattern and classic co-ord, her look fit in with Anderson's Fall 2026 takes on tailoring. Should Mitchell secure a fresh-off-the-runway set, she'd wear it almost identically to her latest look: "I’d style it in a simple way—great heels, minimal accessories—and let the piece speak for itself," she says.

This year alone, Mitchell has already launched three Béis collections, made her Haute Couture Week debut, and reunited with Dior's front row. It seems being a "big believer" in manifesting is still paying off. Whatever she's doing, she should definitely keep it up.

In the midst of Paris Fashion Week, Fall 2026 front-row regulars flocked to Musée Louvre for the French Met Gala equivalent: Le Grande Dîner du Louvre. Star athletes, actors, supermodels, and more leveraged their collective influence to raise over 1.6 million euros for the museum's preservation. But first, they honored the event's second-annual theme, "Le Louvre, la nuit," in Met Gala-worthy couture.

With a backdrop as cinematic as the lit-up Louvre, Le Grande Dîner guests knew this wasn't your average step-and-repeat. The evening called for their most lavish Fashion Month moments. For Diane Kruger and Olympic freestyle skater Eileen Gu, this meant sourcing Iris Van Herpen. Both couture creations defied gravity, especially the sculptural, wing-like arches behind Gu's back. Meanwhile, Anya Taylor-Joy and A'ja Wilson channeled the city's elegance with classically Parisian, ankle-length dresses. Taylor-Joy, for one, scored a custom tea-length midi from Dior, after attending Jonathan Anderson's Fall 2026 show a few hours earlier. The basketball pro, on the other hand, shined in a stark white Jacquemus shift, its column silhouette texturized with fur-trimmed ruffles.

In lieu of a goody bag, it seems creative director Anderson sent Taylor-Joy home from Dior's Fall 2026 show with a custom gown. He crafted the tea-length, V-neck number from silver satin. First, bows decorated each sleeveless shoulder strap. Then, Anderson pinned each hip of the skirt to emphasize the voluminous petticoat underlay.

After a phenomenal Haute Couture Week debut, the Love Island USA alum returned to Paris for Le Grand Dîner du Louvre. Styling duo Matthew and Reginald Reisman dressed Olandria Carthen in a gothic trumpet gown from Beirut-based designers Khaled & Marwan. What started as a lace-lined, corseted mini dress sprawled out onto a tulle turtleneck and matching fit-and-flare skirt. In addition to cascading gold appliqués down the bustier's boning, each sleeve featured puffed-up cuffs.

A'ja Wilson is a bona fide fashion girl in every sense of the phrase. For proof, see her in a stark white Jacquemus shift at Le Grand Dîner du Louvre. Not just any athlete could turn a feather-trimmed LWD into a sartorial slam dunk.

Quintessential London girl Alexa Chung traded the streets of Notting Hill for Musée Louvre. Adding to the international convergence, she sourced Alessandro Michele's Spring 2026 Valentino collection for a floral, one-shoulder mini dress. Feeling déjà vu? Similar to Eileen Gu, Barbara Palvin borrowed an extravagant gown from Iris Van Herpen's Fall 2025 Couture collection. Palvin's off-the-shoulder design read more Swan Lake bride than garden fairy, mainly because of its scalloped petal-topped train.

Before gracing Saint Laurent's star-studded front row, the Emily In Paris star made a pit stop at Le Grand Dîner du Louvre. Knowing Beaulieu, her one-sleeve, rhinestone-covered black gown boasted Saint Laurent tags.

Even Bella Hadid was shocked she modeled multiple designs on Prada's Fall 2026 runway: "4 looks, I can’t believe it!" she wrote on Instagram after the February 26 fashion show. By March 3, Hadid returned to single-look cameos at Saint Laurent, proving just how rare her quartet was. Even so, her sole lingerie-inspired set left just as many fashion editors impressed.

Creative director Anthony Vacarello placed a lace-clad Hadid at the center of his 48-piece collection. Among a sea of oversize black suits and warm-toned lace, she was still impossible to miss. First, she flaunted a muted blood orange bodysuit, crafted completely from transparent lace. The spaghetti-strap style became a touch more opaque along the plunging neckline's scalloped border. The bottom-half of her one-piece emerged from beneath an equally-sheer midi skirt, except its floral lace turned black.

Similar to Hadid's last Saint Laurent runway show, Vaccarello loaded up on Fall 2026 accessories for the model. She slipped not-quite-black, but not-quite-brown tights into super-pointy stilettos. (Don't miss the snakeskin wrap atop each elongated toe box.) Flower-shaped, oversize studs bloomed at the base of her earring stack. Vaccarello's finishing touch? A matching cocktail ring on Hadid's right hand.

Believe it or not, Sept. 2026 will mark two years since Hadid ended her runway hiatus in Saint Laurent's Spring 2025 show. She made her grand return in an oversize tuxedo, featuring a stark white button-down, a shoulder-padded blazer, wide-leg trousers, and a matching necktie. Bulky, square-shaped eyeglasses were her only visible accessory.

Six months later, Vaccarello invited Hadid back to walk his Fall 2025 runway. Of course, she accepted. There's no way the Ôrebella founder would say no to debuting a shoulder-padded, long-sleeve midi dress made of see-through, royal blue lace. To finish, an accordion-style choker doubled as the dress's collar.

Last Paris Fashion Week, Hadid traded Saint Laurent's front row for a spot on Vaccarello's Spring 2026 catwalk once more. She was tasked with showcasing his part-midi dress, part-windbreaker in water-repellent tangerine. The knee-grazing coat was the outfit—aviator sunglasses and over-embellished drop earrings only appeared as supporting characters. The same rules applied to her razor-sharp slingback heels.

Marie Claire knew her Fall 2026 sighting was coming, Hadid's past Saint Laurent looks aside. She arrived at Paris Fashion Week the day prior, and wasted no time teasing her Saint Laurent runway walk. Paparazzi spotted her in an all-white spring outfit, while her khaki jacket and $4,200 Amalia Hobo Bag boasted Saint Laurent tags. It seems only one additional bag made it to Paris with Hadid: a vintage quilted carry-all from Chanel. Does it mean she'll appear in Matthieu Blazy's March 9 show, too? Only time will tell.

Every Fashion Month, you won't find Zoë Kravitz zooming from one runway show to another. Rather, she waits until an invite from Saint Laurent inevitably appears in her mailbox. Then and only then, will Kravitz grace a Paris Fashion Week front row. On March 3, Saint Laurent's Fall 2026 show called Kravitz out of hiding once again. But this wasn't her average trip to the front row: While the show is familiar, the look she chose couldn't be more different from her signatures.

Kravitz returned to Paris for her first fashion show since Sept. 2025, when Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello saved her a spot on his Spring 2026 guest list. This time around, she swapped out her favorite lacy slip dresses for modest, chocolate brown selects.

Kravitz tucked a brown turtleneck into oversize pleated trousers, of which Saint Laurent's catalog offers no shortage. (This pair seemed to be a few shades darker than her long-sleeve.) A matching leather belt cinched the pants above her waist—an unusual move for the noted low-rise-everything devotee.

Even Kravitz's accessories got the chocolate memo, including what appeared to be glossy brown Oxfords. (Before now, sky-high sandals were her front-row footwear of choice.) Next, Kravitz traded a classically structured Saint Laurent coat for a fur stole draped delicately atop her forearm. That way, if Kravitz felt a chill, she could simply stack it on top of her turtleneck like an off-the-shoulder shawl.

No Kravitz look is complete without diamonds in some shape or form. This time around, button-back drop earrings resembling a pull from her favorite jeweler, Jessica McCormack, lit up Kravitz's front profile.

The Batman actor hasn't worn pants to a Saint Laurent fashion show since the Fall 2020 season. Back then, a jeans-clad Kravitz found her spot in the front row, right alongside dad Lenny Kravitz.

Fast forward a few years, and itty-bitty mini dresses have become her Saint Laurent signature. Extra points if they're risqué in any way. It all started at the Fall 2023 show, when she stacked a thigh-grazing LBD on top of opaque black tights. Six months later, a polka-dot tulle mini made the Spring 2024 cut. The Spring 2025 show came with her her nakedest LBD yet, crafted entirely from sheer lace. By Fall 2025, Kravitz freed the nip in a lace-trimmed, silky slip.

If Paris Fashion Week is anything like Kravitz's last visit, it'll start and end with Saint Laurent. So appreciate her front row looks past and present while you can. You won't get one from her until at least June, when Vaccarello presents his Spring 2027 menswear show.

Whether you're a mother of two under two or the proud parent of a fur baby, you know getting dressed for a walk—any walk—doesn't usually resemeble a fashion show. I know I feel attacked when I watch TikTok videos skewering moms' throw-on-and-go outfits for taking her brood outside: In my case, it's some hodge-podge of sweats, a hoodie, and mismatched sneakers or Uggs. Getting up and out the door is the main goal; style falls to the wayside. For Fall 2026, however, Jonathan Anderson and Dior would like to change that.

Sure, Dior's latest, 60-plus look collection opened the final stretch of Fashion Month for a rarified crowd including Emily Ratajkowski, Priyanka Chopra, and Love Story heartthrob Paul Anthony Kelly. The label's Paris Fashion Week takeover of the Jardin des Tuileries featured plenty of reworked Dior bar jackets (an emblem from Christian Dior's New Look), tulle mullet skirts referencing the iconic Juno dress, and awards season-appropriate evening gowns. But those weren't the whole collection. When I took a second look at Dior's Fall fashion show lineup, I saw outfits that could make a mundane walk feel like more of a moment—and without the effort I feel allergic to most days between the hours of 6 and 8 A.M.

There were plaid and brocade robe coats, cuddly in their shape but ready for a Jennifer Lawrence paparazzi walk with asymmetric bubble hems and deep, deep pockets. There were pants and button-ups with the same unbothered slouch as an excellent pajama bottom—only these were coated in painterly, Monet-like florals. Even the everyday, straight-leg jeans got an upgrade, thanks to pairings with suede moto boots and new editions of Anderson-era Dior bag silhouettes.

In show notes, Anderson wrote about Paris's iconic park as a place to "see and be seen." That wasn't just a reference to the aristocrats who walked the Grande Allée during the reign of Louis XIV, or the wealthiest tourists parachuting into town for the Dior front row. Everyday people like me—who might get their dose of daily Vitamin D in jeans and a little jacket—were part of the mosaic too. "The panoply of Parisians presents itself, consciously or not," Anderson wrote, "each with a different attitude, each dressed to play a part, whether mundane or spectacular."

On this runway, it's the more "mundane" items, the pieces that already live in a so-called everyday wardrobe, that were the most alluring. Those of us rushing out the door already have a similar jean or jacket at home; we just need an extra second to juxtapose them with a lily-toned bag or a so-wrong-it's-right boot. Et voilà: Our outfit isn't any less functional, but it's a lot more interesting.

Anderson explained why he took Dior Fall 2026 outdoors and into the park in a pre-show conversation with Fashion Neurosis podcaster Bella Freud. "People used to dress up to go somewhere," he told her. With this runway as a guide, a weekday walk can now be that "somewhere." The next time you see me in Central Park, it won't be in leggings.

Dior Fall 2026

Despite the heaps of vintage Dior in Emily Ratajkowski's closet, she's been absent from the label's front row for nearly a decade. On March 3, nine years after her last invite arrived—to then-creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri's Spring 2018 show—she finally ended her hiatus in Dior by Jonathan Anderson selects.

Last weekend, Ratajkowski dusted off her modeling shoes for Demna's debut runway show at Gucci. By Tuesday, she jetted from Milan to Paris Fashion Week, simultaneously putting her spectator cap back on. Photographers captured a pre-show EmRata outside the greenhouse-turned-catwalk Dior Venue, dressed in a full-coverage, minimalist set.

Look 41 from Dior's Pre-Fall 2026 show became her plus-one. Stark white satin wrapped halter-style around her neck, before meeting as two voluminous bows behind her mid-thighs. Pleated black trousers—a slightly slimmer silhouette compared to the Pre-Fall pair—grounded the otherwise romantic top in relatability. Ratajkowski's straight-leg hems weren't nearly as long as they appeared in the Pre-Fall 2026 look book. That way, her matching croc-embossed heels earned a proper close-up.

In the aforementioned look book, the Pre-Fall model carried an extra-large messenger bag atop the top's silk shoulder. (The metallic silver shoulder strap boasted Dior's emblem in all caps.) Since Ratajkowski wasn't in mom mode at the Dior presentation, she likely didn't need a bottomless bag. Instead, the My Body author packed only her essentials into a black leather clutch that read more wallet than purse. Ratajkowski's finishing touch? Blink-and-you'll-miss-them hoops, which traded places with the model's bow-shaped drop earrings.

It seems Ratajkowski is proving just how versatile an It-girl she is this Fashion Month: Her Dior and Gucci Fall 2026 looks couldn't be more different. On Feb. 27, Ratajkowski joined a slew of celebrity models in Look 71's micro-mini party dress. She looked straight from a circa-1993 fashion week after-party in a silver rhinestone-covered mini. Its spaghetti-slim straps, U-shaped neckline, and thigh-grazing skirt stuck to her like second skin. Gucci even bedazzled her sleek stilettos and going-out bag to match.

Not only is this a reunion for Ratajkowski and Dior, the Fall 2026 season could call her back to the Paris Fashion Week runway. It's been a long time coming: Courrèges's Fall 2023 show marked her most recent Parisian walk. If Ratajkowski is anything like fellow model-turned-entrepreneur Bella Hadid, she's keeping her PFW schedule under lock and key until her next outing.

You may have come across a nondescript leather sandal with a $690 price tag or, perhaps, a woman named Zoë or Kendall or Jennifer, captured by paparazzi in an absolutely perfect chunky knit. Maybe you saw the TikToks of a line snaking outside a New York City sample sale last fall, where expectant faces melted down over 75-percent-off merchandise that still rang up for triple (or quadruple) digits.

No matter your introduction to the brand, you’ve likely heard of The Row. Over the past two decades, its understated expression of luxury—logoless leather bags, tapered ballet flats, roomy wool coats—has divided fashion into two groups: those who get it and those who don’t. The former includes every major luxury retailer, every A-lister worth following, and the CFDA, which has awarded it seven times in the last 14 years (a sign that the label is taken seriously by the industry’s power players). Most consequentially, you can trace any major trend that has reached mass appeal in recent years, from quiet luxury to jelly sandals, back to The Row. By 2024, the owners of Chanel and L’Oréal had taken on minority ownership, sending the brand’s valuation to approximately $1 billion.

All those bona fides aside, those who don’t get it are justifiably confused. The Row began with two founders who wanted to make the best possible version of a white T-shirt. Those founders, however, were Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen—beloved former child stars then enrolled at New York University—and their tee wasn’t meant for world closet domination. They had their sights set on a client who was as discerning about her fabrics and her client-relations representatives as they were, even at just 18 years old. The brand would stand for quality with a capital Q, releasing a product only when it felt perfect, in a highly limited run. They would price it accordingly: If perfection could be bought, it couldn’t be cheap.

It’s an ethos that has lasted; the company turns 20 this year. For the milestone anniversary, Marie Claire spoke with more than two dozen people with close ties to the brand, from former employees and early retail advocates to long-term clients and the first reporters who ever reviewed its collections (the Olsens, through a publicist, declined to participate in the story, as did the brand itself) to tackle a question entire Reddit threads have yet to satisfactorily answer: How, of all brands, did The Row get so big?

A New Teenage Dream

2005

Prior to starting The Row, the Olsens’ design experience had been limited to a tween collection for Walmart. By 2005, they were ready to start something different: an upscale fashion venture where they would be the designers but not the faces. They officially launched their first collection for The Row (named for London’s famed Savile Row) in 2006. The following year, they attempted to enter the mid-range market with contemporary women’s clothing brand, Elizabeth and James (which exists today as a diffusion line sold only at Kohl’s).

Amanda Mull, journalist for Bloomberg Businessweek: 2006 was a deeply unserious time in American culture, quite frankly. The Olsens had been in the tabloids and in gossip blogs a lot, carrying It Bags of the time—they particularly liked Balenciaga—and it seemed to me their interest in serious fashion was real, but it’s very hard to start a new luxury line. It’s even harder when you have the whole history of celebrity coming along with you.

Julie Gilhart, former Barneys New York executive: We already had a relationship with Mary-Kate and Ashley. I got to know them through the New York store. They were great customers. They were buying the iconic pieces of Nicolas Ghesquière and all the really cool fashion brands. When they decided to do their own collection, it was because they couldn’t find great pieces that support your wardrobe, that you wear over and over again and mix in with the special things you have. They came to the table with a really well honed taste level.

Robin Givhan, author, Pulitzer Prize–winning fashion critic, and contributing opinion writer for The New York Times: That was a period after a lot of really ill-fated celebrity brands. The Row seemed to have been forging a different path as far as what could be produced from designers of this background.

Gilhart: I didn’t have a big belief in celebrity brands because we were so designer focused. We were looking for real talent, and then along come celebrities who put their names on brands. As a courtesy to Mary-Kate and Ashley, because they were great girls and great customers, we took a look. I was fully prepared to say, "Nice but not necessary." I walked into the showroom, and [the line] was subtle, like they are. The quality was beautiful, and the pieces were exactly what they said they wanted to do. It wasn’t trend driven at all.

Neelam Ahooja, content creator: They started with the perfect tees. Oddly enough, I didn’t love them. They were nice, but they weren’t my favorite. I liked the knits right away. It very much felt like Theory or Tahari—but an upscale version. That didn’t really exist back then.

Rickie De Sole, VP, Nordstrom fashion director, and former Vogue editor: I remember the early days, going to those presentations. There was this sense of "come into our home" quiet. It was always about the perfect item—the perfect sweater, that great coat—and that sense of intimacy, walking into their spaces and clocking the art on the wall or the chair that was perfectly placed in the corner. It’s the clothes, but it’s also the world that surrounds it. That’s been true since day one.

Dirk Standen, dean of the school of fashion at SCAD and former fashion editor: I was at Style.com at the time. Pretty soon after launch, we ran a video they had made, set in a house in the Hollywood Hills. It was very grainy footage, sort of Super 8–style. The clothing was pretty simple—a white blazer and a white T-shirt with a deep V and a black pencil skirt—but I remember it had a real sensibility to it. Dare I say, it was a vibe.

Gilhart: It was like the most quiet launch in the history of fashion. We wrote a small order, and it was sold to customers who had no idea it was Mary-Kate and Ashley. They just thought, Oh, this is a nice sweater. It grew from there.

Givhan: What was really interesting to me was the fact that the clothes were aimed at, and enthusiastically supported by, women who were, like, 10 years older than they were at the time. The people who were wearing the clothes were well into their 30s and 40s. It was so unusual because, typically, designers of that age are designing for their contemporaries. Even as they get older, they start looking backward and designing for people who are younger. I was struck that not only were Mary-Kate and Ashley not doing that, but they were very consciously designing for women who were already older than they were, as if they were really celebrating and anticipating the idea of maturity and adulthood and coming into your own.

Growth Mode

2010

The Row’s team stayed focused on basics for the first few years. But rising talents in the industry sensed that something big was happening at the brand’s Greenwich Street offices and sought to leave their mark by joining the company. Soon, its studio became a training ground for emerging designers and an assembly line for It Products.

Ruthie Friedlander, former digital director for The Row: I was working at Chanel, which was, for all intents and purposes, the dream job. Then my boss made an announcement that she was leaving to go work at this brand called The Row, and I rallied to come with her because I wanted to be wherever she was. Plus the idea of being at a luxury brand that was at those beginning stages was really exciting to me.

Sijeo Kim, former designer for The Row and design director for Guest in Residence: I joined The Row as a knitwear designer. Before that, I’d spent three years at Helmut Lang, during which the company went through several internal shifts that made the design direction feel somewhat unclear. I wanted to work for a brand with a stronger, more defined identity, with a clear point of view. The Row offered exactly that.

Standen: The brand had been building in a very thoughtful way for five years, but I think it was really around 2011, 2012 that people realized it was a force to be reckoned with. The more-than-$30,000 alligator bag came out, and then [The Row] won its first CFDA Award.

Mull: What accessories generally do for a luxury brand is give it a wider audience. A lot more people can justify spending that much money on something that they can carry every day. I remember thinking that The Row’s proposition for handbags seemed a little bit ridiculous. When the brand was launching bags, $5,000 was more than what a lot of Chanel bags cost. It was a real statement: We’re sticking to our guns on pricing and what it is that we believe we offer the consumer. If you want it, you’re going to have to pay.

Kim: A major turning point for me was the development of the Sibel sweater. What made it special was that it was fully knitted on a whole-garment machine using a cashmere-wool blend, which was more accessible than the 100-percent-cashmere yarns The Row was primarily focused on at that time. That balance of luxury and approachability resonated strongly with clients who longed for something beautifully made and unmistakably The Row.

De Sole: The clothes have been there since day one, but getting into shoes was really a moment of growth and change. It suddenly became more accessible. Obviously, that’s all relative—I say that with some level of awareness around the price of The Row shoes—but it was a way of buying into the brand. If you couldn’t afford the beautiful trench coat or the cashmere sweater, shoes offered the ability to dabble in The Row. Now shoes are such a part of its DNA.

Givhan: I do remember the season that I went to look at the collection and they showed me the Margaux bag. I thought it was a really beautiful bag—a bit heavy. I feel like I was proven correct, because later iterations were lined in canvas as opposed to leather, which lightened it significantly.

Standen: People used to try to dismiss them as celebrity designers, and that clearly didn’t stick. I do think people, both the consumer who can afford it and the more aspirational consumer, see that The Row is worth it. The quality is there. It’s going to last more than one season. That’s really the core of the appeal. The brand’s had a string of really good designers who have gone on to greater heights. They have a really exacting vision of what they want, and they have the grit to really stick to it. You see the consistency in everything they do. That’s probably a really strong training ground for people to come out with that sense of I want it to be exact, and I’m not gonna be happy until it is. When you create something with that level of integrity, it carries over to the consumer.

Caitlin Burke, stylist: When people want to wear it, it’s because they know inherently it’s signaling that you have a more refined taste. You’re not like a Real Housewife who’s wearing all logos and Louis Vuitton. They want to establish that they’re more edited in their point of view.

Evolving the Experience

2014

By the late 2010s, The Row was ready for rooms of its own. Its first stores opened in L.A (2014) and in New York City (2016), introducing a retail experience that felt more like visiting a friend’s home than going into a boutique.

De Sole: I remember when the Los Angeles store opened; it took the insider experience that we would have at the shows or their showroom, and suddenly you’ve got that as a customer. You were able to walk in and see that midcentury modern space on Melrose and the pool and the beautiful chairs. The customer was able to experience that world of The Row.

Gilhart: The way the brand showed at New York Fashion Week was so luxurious, so sophisticated, and so very über–New York; that very chic, just-so-tasteful type of expression of the really rich. There wasn’t a lot of glitz. There wasn’t a lot of lights, cameras, action! It was just pure quality.

De Sole: I remember sitting with André Leon Talley at a show on the Upper East Side. It had a townhouse venue. It wasn’t as formulaic as some of the shows back in the day. It just felt so different from that and so personal, and that really created this sort of cult around it. It was a special experience to go to a Row presentation or show, and it remains that way to this day.

Givhan: The presentations were always quite small. I recall going to one in a little restaurant, and we were sitting in little banquettes. When the brand went to Paris, shows were always quite intimate. They were never keen on splashiness.

Friedlander: I walked into the job with the approach that if you don’t figure out what you want to do digitally, you could be at risk of other people telling your story. So how do we create your version without being everywhere? This was still the time when it was thought of as crazy to see bloggers at fashion shows. For me, both The Row and its founders are deeply, deeply visual. Instagram seemed like a natural platform to be on. That said, most brands that were doing Instagram were very founder-first and celebrity focused, which is not what they’re like. My challenge was, how do I pitch a strategy that’s going to feel on-brand and not immediately get rejected because the platform is prioritizing the antithesis of what this brand is trying to be? It’s impressive to me that they’ve basically kept the same strategy, to date, that we launched with.

The Popularity Paradox

2019

A turbulent time for retail—including the bankruptcy of Barneys, one of its biggest wholesale supporters, and the Covid-19 pandemic—led to layoffs and a downsizing. But by 2021, The Row’s products were on the radar of celebrities, creators, and consumers. As the spotlight got brighter, though, the brand got quieter: Phones were banned from runway shows, and the already press-shy founders absconded from any public-facing time. It also began attracting criticism from longtime fans.

Burke: Every woman who has taste, if they can financially afford it, has at least something from The Row. It used to be more of an "if you know, you know" brand, but with the boom of quiet luxury, it was the brand most people were talking about.

Ahooja: Around 2020, content creators around the world were starting to wear The Row. They weren’t wearing it head to toe, but they would be incorporating the ’90s bag, the fisherman sandals; we were quietly advertising for them. Then Kendall Jenner stepped out in a head-to-toe look, and I think there was a collective sigh from the loyalists because it put the brand on the page in a more obvious, commercialized way that was sort of the antithesis of what The Row was supposed to be. But if you want to grow, I guess that’s how you do it.

Mull: The Row has been very canny in how it structures its collections and its offerings to make really wearable clothes for people. A lot of brands have abandoned the pursuit of making wearable clothes. But The Row’s getting to the size where it’s a little bit difficult for it to maintain the type of control over its public image that it clearly wants to have.

De Sole: Mary-Kate and Ashley have always been a little elusive. They used to be more present. I remember them coming out at the end when they did the presentations. They’d mingle afterward, and you could ask questions.

Givhan: I went with them to one of their factories, and even though this was for a story, they didn’t want to name where they were producing. At one point, the owner was showing them a sample, and they very quickly whisked it away because they didn’t want it to be photographed. They were always private in that way, always keeping things close to the vest. It’s certainly gotten more extreme. Some of it harkens back to another time, when design houses were not keen on having their entire collection posted online because they worried about people copying it. A lot of those details, their desire for privacy, their desire to maintain control over imagery—all of those things that feel pretentious, to some degree, feel, to me, like they’re trying to keep things at a more human scale.

Mull: I don’t think that The Row is any weirder or pickier about its customers than any other brand. How it has gone about telegraphing its exclusivity—the refusal to deal with the internet, the refusal to make a lot of logo products—is a little more of a commitment to the bit.

Ahooja: I have been close to the company for a long time. It took an interest in my work and pulled me in. I got to see a little too much. You almost don’t want to know, because now I’m having to, in my mind, delineate between craft and company. I value and love the craft. I don’t value the company.

What Comes Next

2026

No one can deny how The Row jump-started a movement toward more minimal design. But what does that mean for its future, especially as consumers move past quiet luxury in favor of more expressive, individualistic fashion?

Tariro Makoni, writer and strategist: The Row is far more powerful than I think it even wants you to think that it is. It has gotten to a point where it doesn’t need to be the loudest, nor does it have to have the SKU that people know is selling out. It just needs to be.

Givhan: The Row contradicted what so many of the early celebrity brands thought, which is that people will come because you’re a celebrity and you will get attention because you’re a celebrity and therefore that’s a good thing. In fact, it’s almost the exact opposite: Yes, people will come because you will be perceived as this curiosity, but you have a much bigger hill to climb. The brand has been giving people a template for how you go about it.

Gilhart: It has a core customer, and she understands the price of things; she’s okay with that, she really likes the style. That’s who it’s catering to. The rest is just noise. It’s a slippery slope because people are more educated about costs, so you have to be sure that you’re pricing items so customers don’t feel like they’re overpaying. The Row’s been able to do that. And because it’s so focused and what it does is quite beautiful, it’s not noisy. It’s like a secret room, and it’s not inviting everybody in. It’s just doing what it does, and that’s the attraction. This is not a strategy—this is how these people are. That authenticity counts for a lot.

Kim: Honestly, my perception hasn’t changed much since leaving, but my relationship to the brand has. When I was there, I focused on doing the work: building knitwear, refining silhouettes, problem-solving in the details. Now I can look at The Row without the weight of deadlines or fittings. I can see the consistency and the quiet luxury from a consumer’s perspective, and I understand why people connect to it so deeply.

Gilhart: In a day when sales are not so great across the board, The Row is still selling.

Mull: The Row serves as a reminder that women want clothes they can actually wear. There’s a real audience for very expensive, very wearable clothing. Fashion brands tend to get so wrapped up in stunts—how many fashion shows and events all over the world a year can we do? The Row, among a few others, has served as a counterpoint. You don’t have to do that. Have a point of view and make clothes that are interesting and made from wonderful materials, the kind of things that somebody with a high budget can get a bunch of actual wear out of.

Standen: Every time, it has proved its critics wrong. It would be sort of foolish to bet against the brand at this point.

Friedlander: The Row was probably the shortest job that I had, from a time-span perspective, and it’s the job I took the most away from. I own my own business now. Next to my desk, I have a note that says, "What would The Row do?"

This week, I’ve been locked in on all things Fashion Month: big debuts at Fendi, Gucci, and Marni; surprise model castings at Prada (hi, Bella Hadid!); and fall trends taking shape all over. This point in a fashion editor’s calendar is the Webster’s Dictionary definition of busy. In moments like these, I’m scanning A-listers’ outfits for styling tips that can bring my outfits together faster than you can say “Birkin bag.” And that, my friends, is how I landed on the one-step accessory trend ahead for this week’s edit. No, it’s not an elusive, five-figure bag—it’s a lot more accessible.

’90s-inspired cords with a big pendant are the necklace du jour among the most stylish women I follow. While the look got a stamp of approval on the Spring 2026 runways (meaning, a lot of great options to shop are hitting stores now), celebrities soft-launched their comeback as early as last summer. The likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and the aforementioned Hadid sister are still very much on board. It’s the last step to making everything from a white button-up shirt or crewneck sweater to a slinky, deep-V top look that much more intentional.

The mixed materials and earthy pendants tend to feel very boho. (Another celeb-backed trend that hasn’t died down yet.) But as you’ll see with the way I style them, you don’t have to be a free spirit counting down to Coachella to wear them.

How I Style It

I call this the Olsen Tuck: necklace version. Instead of leaving my hair nonchalantly inside my sweater or coat, I tuck the back half of a pendant inside a tall rollneck and let the charm or stone peek out. With billowy pants and a nice leather loafer, it’s the finishing touch to an outfit that looks considered, but is very, very comfortable.

I still spend a lot of time in virtual meetings. My shorter pendant necklace with a big, unmistakable stone has lately been a compliment magnet in back-to-back Zooms. This Líe Studio version joined my collection right around Copenhagen Fashion Week, and has been my favorite finishing touch ever since. I love how the silver chain coordinates with my piercings—and how it shines against a cool-toned top.

An all-white outfit for spring isn't the most groundbreaking selection. It's similar, in that way, to florals at this time of year. But hear me out: White-on-white becomes the ultimate blank canvas for the season's leading It-accessories. Need proof? Take it from Bella Hadid, who touched down at Paris Fashion Week in a white spring outfit and heaps of Saint Laurent accessories.

On March 2, paparazzi captured Hadid en route to her first fitting this week. (Judging by her Saint Laurent selects, there's a chance she met with creative director Anthony Vaccarello.) The model traded cozy, pre-fitting loungewear for the matching set of my mid-March dreams. First, a stark white bra emerged from beneath a skintight, partially-sheer T-shirt. She tucked the latter into a matching pair of quintessentially Hadid, straight-leg jeans. A black belt cinched the high-rise waistband, similar to the white Frame jeans she wore in New York City last month. Just like that mid-snowstorm look, the accessory department was where Hadid leveled up the otherwise singular color story.

Next, Hadid sourced the same neutral color palette for Parisian shades of khaki and black. A black thermal hoodie—featuring early spring-friendly thumbholes—added insulation to Saint Laurent's $3,200 Cotton Canvas Jacket. The lightweight, khaki zip-up is more suitable to mid-April and May styling, when there's a slight chill in the 60° Fahrenheit air. But Hadid's cozy thermal underneath is a gamechanger.

The woven chainlink strap of Hadid's $4,200 Amalia Hobo Bag covered the jacket's raglan sleeve. She chose the larger (and slouchier) of two black leather carry-alls to secure her Fashion Month survival kit. To finish, Hadid tapped into the socks-with-loafers trend with white hosiery and black leather slip-ons. They came Frēda Salvador for just $398.

Little did I know, Hadid began building her spring uniform right away on Jan. 1 in Aspen. (Clearly, I need to catch up.) Almost-identical base layers—a white long-sleeve and matching straight-leg jeans—illuminated her black leather jacket, Fendi leopard-print Baguette, and leather boots. Two weeks later, Hadid re-wore the aforementioned, white long-sleeve-and-jeans look in NYC, this time underneath two stacked coats. She sized up in both a Polo Ralph Lauren varsity jacket and a faux fur coat from Mango, as to not add too much bulk. When Bottega Veneta creative director Louise Trotter was preparing her first collection, she told Vogue her starting point was "evolving" the house's most iconic offerings—that is, the best Bottega Veneta bags. "I wanted to open a dialogue between the heritage and my hand," she said. So her debut Bottega fashion show last September was filled with softened takes on the Lauren, Knot, Cabat and Veneta silhouettes, which have started making their way into A-listers' arms and onto store shelves.

Six months later, Trotter returned with her highly-anticipated Fall 2026 fashion show. The opening outfits reassured collectors that, yes, she's still putting her stamp on extra-oversize totes and intrecciato woven bags. But by the conclusion of the 81-look collection, it was clear Trotter wanted to elevate another item to hero status, or just plain status symbol: the fall coat.

Trotter's thesis statement for her era at the house is as follows, per her Vogue interview: "I believe Bottega Veneta creations are for the wearer." And as she considered the way her shopper will approach Fall 2026, she decided to do away with overly complicated layering and excessive styling.

The majority of looks boiled down to leveled-up takes on a classic coat paired to a knit beanie—not that that description can really do it justice. In her hands, a khaki trench levels up with an intrecciato woven collar and an oversize, contrasting leather belt. Black car coats are also entirely crafted from Bottega's preferred handcraft method: strips of leather woven into a slick, effortlessly cool trench. These coats, and armor-like, oversize wool versions, are the discerning shopper's upgrade in place of the usual scarf coats and seasonal jackets. They can definitely handle the wearer's commute or daily layering demands when temperatures drop; they also convey some if you know, you know energy without needing a logo or label.

Trotter also understands that some wearers want a little more drama from their shields against the elements. Or, if they're an A-list client, something over-the-top to style for dinner at Mario Baldi or Chez Margaux by next November. So the latter half of the collection leaned into capital-S statement coats: some in candy-color shades in the soft, shimmery recycled fiberglass from Trotter's debut, others in an imitation fur with extra-large shoulders and coordinating hats.

The more everyday-leaning Bottega Veneta coats were for people who fly under the radar with elegance; the latter are for making an entrance. Several in both categories walked the runway without a coordinating bag on the model's arm or hip—hinting that the It-item spotlight has shifted focus.

There's no world where Bottega Veneta isn't releasing leather bags. They've been integral to the house's DNA since its founding. But for Fall 2026, making an impression doesn't happen through the accessories. Here, the coat is the outfit.

Bottega Veneta Fall 2026

A plethora of world-famous models arrived at Milan Fashion Week this week, where many of them took part in Demna's first Gucci runway show. Since joining the fashion house in 2025, Demna has made it clear that his Gucci era will be a little different. For instance, a star-studded red carpet premiere for a Gucci short film officially launched his tenure as creative director.

After walking the runway as the epitome of the Gucci party girl, Emily Ratajkowski and boyfriend Romain Gavras were photographed arriving at the Gucci dinner on Friday, February 27.

The Too Much star traded her '90s-inspired silver-studded mini dress from Gucci's runway in favor of another look from the fashion house. Ratajkowski opted for a black jersey slip dress, with thin straps featuring the designer's iconic gold Horsebit hardware.

Ratajkowski accessorized the dress with a black leather Gucci Jackie Slim Small Shoulder Bag, which retails for $2,450. Per the fashion house's website, the style is new for Spring/Summer 2026, and "presents a sleek, relaxed style crafted from soft grainy leather that has been carefully aged by hand to create a time-worn, vintage-inspired effect."

The model and actress completed her outfit with a pair of black suede pointed-toe knee-high boots.

Ratajkowski's inclusion in Demna's Milan Fashion Week confirms that she's most definitely on board with the new creative director's vision for Gucci.

I stock up on fresh matching sets every spring, and not just of the sweatsuit or linen variety. Even in denim, two-pieces are the one-and-done outfit formula I rarely take off. On February 27, Bella Hadid proved my matching set collection isn't complete just yet in the Canadian tuxedo of my dreams.

24 hours after making her Prada runway debut, Hadid was in no rush to jet back home to L.A. She stopped by Miss Sixty's Milan storefront for meet-and-greets with her fans. She wore a Canadian tuxedo from her collaboration with the women's denim brand, which drops on Feb. 28. Stylist Mimi Cuttrell chose Hadid's same light-wash co-ord from the corresponding campaign, including a fitted zip-up jean jacket. She went shirtless underneath in the ad, but on Friday, a white rollneck top emerged from behind the zip-up's collar. (The white top also appears to be a Miss Sixty x Hadid design.) A single star-shaped, leopard print patch decorated her jacket's bust.

Of course, Hadid coupled the jacket with its other half: a low-rise take on the flared jeans trend. It marked her first shift from straight-leg silhouettes in weeks, at least since her dark-wash, Haala Denim pair on Jan. 12. Still, she styled them as she does most jeans: with vintage-inspired shoes. This time, strappy burgundy heels from Scandi label Anonymous Copenhagen were the winners.

Hadid's Miss Sixty set couldn't be more different from her four Prada runway looks. It was a perfect match for Spring 2026 fashion trend that's finally arriving in stores. Calvin Klein, Emilia Wickstead, Aje, and more introduced fitted Canadian tuxedos on their runways last season. Several came in shades just droplets away from matching Hadid's wash.

Skipping ahead to the current Fashion Month, Hadid isn't the only VIP bringing the Spring 2026 matching set revival to front rows. It's no surprise a few models-turned-celebrities (and vice versa) made Gucci's Fall 2026 fashion show the focus of their Milan Fashion Week.

The February 27 runway show came with a lot of hype, after all. It was creative director Demna's first proper fashion show for the label, though he'd officially started designing in 2025. (Actors including Demi Moore modeled his first collection last September in a short film called The Tiger.) Now, with the initial 38-piece collection in stores, the brand turned back to the runway for a celebrity-filled affair. Familiar faces were everywhere, from Gabbriette and Alex Consani to Karlie Kloss, in her first Fashion Month gig since Schiaparelli's Spring 2024 Couture show two Januarys ago. Her khaki midi skirt—covered in Gucci's interlocking Gs—echoed the collection's '90s tone.

Elsa Hosk also ended her runway hiatus with Gucci, albeit in a more off-duty outfit. Her track pants and trench coat combination couldn't have been more different from Emily Ratajkowski's 'fit. Fresh off Tory Burch's Fall 2026 runway, EmRata showed the Gucci girl's party side in a micro-mini, crystal-covered dress. Rhinestones were a leading motif from beginning to end, too: Kate Moss's black turtleneck dress brought them back to close the collection. If that didn't feel Gucci by Tom Ford-adjacent enough, its open back revealed the new-and-improved Gucci thong, as teased by Hailey Bieber last November.

Kate Moss

Demna couldn't revive the Gucci brand archetype without the OG: Kate Moss, a Gucci woman on and off the runway since Tom Ford's Fall 1995 show.

This time around, Demna gave her the honor closing his Fall 2026 show in a glamorous black rhinestone dress. What started as a sleek turtleneck bodice transformed into an entirely open back, which highlighted her whale-tail thong. A metallic silver clutch upped the post-1995 party feel of Moss's final look.

Karlie Kloss

The centerpiece of Karlie Kloss's set was, without a doubt, her khaki pencil skirt. Its recognizable "GG" monogram stood out alongside a black oversize sweater, horsebit-topped pumps, and a matching, patent leather top-handle bag. Kloss is used to pulling off the circa-1933 monogram: It enveloped her entire metallic gold mini at the 2017 Met Gala.

Alex Consani

Alex Consani—the blonde backdrop of Demna's $48,000 tiger-print Spring 2026 coat—is officially his runway muse, too. She earned a starring Fall 2026 role in a long-sleeve, golden turtleneck dress that shimmered from head to toe. The structure of a hip-padded bustier peeked out from beneath the skintight bodice. Even Consani's pointed-toe heels continued the gold rhinestone theme.

Elsa Hosk

Demna dressed Elsa Hosk unlike any other Gucci girl on the runway: in track pants, an oversize V-neck, and cool-toned trench coat. Still, a stark white handbag-turned-clutch and monogrammed stilettos added some drama. A messy, Pamela Anderson-coded bun was the cherry on top of the noughties cake.

Emily Ratajkowski

Emily Ratajkowski looked straight out of a '90s club in an itty-bitty, silver-studded mini dress. Pointy pumps and a chainlink clutch aligned the full look with something Moss would've worn to a post-show party.

Gabbriette

It's not a Gucci show without at least one naked dress. This time, Gabbriette had the honor of showcasing the short-sleeve, lacy mesh mini. A matching G-string thong emerged from beneath the Nasty Cherry singer's transparent, thigh-hugging hem. The eye-catching elements continued with peep-toe, sky-high mules.

Vivian Wilson

The 21-year-old model left quite an impression on the Fall 2026 catwalk. Her single-sleeve, turtleneck gown proved she's one to watch this Fashion Month and beyond. She even executed two-tone accessories as effortlessly as Consani and Moss.

Amelia Gray

All signs pointed to Demna introducing pantaboots, or something like them, at Gucci. (He couldn't get enough of them in his former role at Balenciaga.) Amelia Gray was the model who got the honor of wearing them down the runway, paired to a skintight white T-shirt and black leggings-turned-socks, stacked into horsebit mules. A croc-embossed burgundy bag all but secured this set a spot in Kylie Jenner's closet.

Mariacarla Boscono

Being in Milan, it's only right Demna cast an Italian model in his Gucci show. Mariacarla Boscono re-joined the ranks in a black, Morticia Addams-esque gown. Her black semi-sheer tights peeked through the thigh-high slit. It marked Boscono's first Gucci runway walk since 2009, after years sitting in Alessandro Michele's front rows.

Who else was shocked to see Kendall Jenner traded Emporio Armani's runway for the Fall 2026 front row? The surprises continued after the February 26 Milan Fashion Week show, too. She arrived at Emporio Armani's "Power of Fragrance" party in Cindy Crawford's vintage Armani dress. The lore gets even deeper: It may have been straight from her family's closet.

Not only did the global fragrance ambassador (likely) smell of vanilla, passionfruit, and orange, she oozed cool-girl glamour in skintight silver. Stylist Dani Michelle used Jenner's ambassadorship to access the label's '90s archives, though the exact date her spaghetti-strap slip debuted remains a mystery.

Each feature—especially the scoop neck and ankle-grazing skirt—fit her like a glove. Sequins sculpted into asymmetrical, horizontal stripes decorated every square inch of the dress. The motif matched the shine and shape of chainmail. Even Jenner's square-toe kitten heels got the metallic silver memo.

According to Kardashian Kloset on Instagram, the "rare" Giorgio Armani gown originally belonged to a Kardashian. It's unclear whether Kim or Kris Jenner was the proud owner, though. The family's authentic luxury retail site listed the exact chainmail-esque maxi in Nov. 2024, alongside vintage Alaïa, Chanel, Calvin Klein, Versace, and more. Who scored the silver look? The world may never know. All that matters is it ended up in Jenner's hands, a moment her momager would be undeniably proud of.

The ties to major names don't stop there. Cindy Crawford wore the aforementioned midi nearly three decades ago. On March 4, 1999, she—and her Armani design—sparkled at a St. Jude Children's Hospital benefit. The supermodel styled it somewhat similarly to her It-girl successor: with matching peep-toe mules, blink-and-you'll-miss-them jewelry, and a classic '90s blowout.

Usually Kaia Gerber gets first dibs on her mom's archival dresses, but Jenner and Crawford walked the 2016 Met Gala stairs together. So she certainly has an in with the icon.

If you haven't gathered by now, it's against Jenner's M.O. to walk a red carpet in an average designer dress. Milan Fashion Week requires something much more notable: better yet, a piece with major fashion history. Since her red carpet walks are so few and far between, she makes each one a moment. Jenner hasn't secured an official look this archival since her circa-1992 Mugler gown at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars Party. Let's hope she keeps this up at the 2026 Oscars.

I’m a New York Fashion Week veteran at this point. This was my 25th season (!!!) attending, and I’ve been through it all at this point, from the early days of cattle call-esque standing room shows where I was fighting for my life to be able to get a photo worth a damn with my iPhone 5 to sitting front row with pop stars. It has been a journey, but I still love it, chaos and all. The only thing that can be a bit daunting is deciding what to wear.

When it comes to Fashion Month style, it’s all about striking a balance between serving a LOOK and practicality. (Unless you’re a celeb with dedicated car service and a team of stylists to swap out clothes between shows, your outfit has to go the distance for long days that have you running all over Manhattan and Brooklyn.) Being plus size is an added challenge, as there are few showroom samples I can borrow or stores I can pop into. I usually end up shopping my closet for the majority of my looks. Read on for a little behind the scenes of how I navigated styling a week’s worth of outfits when the fashion always speaks first as a size 20.

Pre-NYFW Marie Claire Party

My unofficial New York Fashion Week kick-off was the Marie Claire x Who What Wear party at a chic spot downtown. I knew I was going to see a lot of fashion friends and faves, so I went with something cute and easy, ensuring I could chat the night away in comfort. (If you’ve been reading my articles for any amount of time, it probably comes as no surprise that I’m a talker!)

I based this look around a textured midi dress in the people’s Color of the Year, phthalo green. I love this rich bluish-green hue, and combining it with a pale lilac has been a favorite of mine recently. (It doesn’t hurt that I have a cool fuzzy plaid coat that ties it all together.) I loved how it all came together with shiny gold cowboy boots, purple frames, and an iridescent hardshell clutch.

Day 1

For my first long day of shows (which started at 10:30 for New York Men’s Day and ended almost 12 hours later with Jane Wade), I wanted to wear something vibrant, impactful, fun, and, most importantly, something that wouldn’t leave me looking rumpled by the end. I based my look around this perfect “Suffering” tee dress from Beautiful Genius by Jordan Piantedosi, one of my favorite brands. The motif was just spot-on—the contrast of cheerful, expressive colors and the all-too-apt wording made it feel too perfect to eschew as someone fighting to find bright spots in the midst of all the cruelty and injustice happening in the world right now. I also wanted to consciously push back against all the bland lack of color that’s so prevalent lately, both in fashion and in culture. The art itself is great, too, and it’s hand-drawn by Piantedosi herself. I also really appreciate Beautiful Genius’ great size range (XS-6X), so it felt like the ideal starting point for an outfit.

I added my beloved Marina Rinaldi quilted maxi coat, with voluminous drop waist insets that are right on trend. It gave me a little “Jubilee from X-Men, but make it fashion” vibe that I absolutely love. It also takes up space, both literally and figuratively, in a way that I appreciate as a plus-size woman who’s often treated like an interloper in fashion spaces. It’s a statement piece in more ways than one.

I’ve been really into the long tee and sheer skirt combination lately, so New York Fashion Week felt like the perfect time to take it for a spin. I toyed with some lace options, but this sequin and faux pearl studded number from Cuup ended up taking it for me. It’s even more stunning in person (it catches the light beautifully), and the contrast of its delicate sparkle with the neon colors and sporty vibes of my tube socks and Collina Strada x Reebok sneakers really sparked joy.

I finished the look with a bright green By Far bag and pink glasses. Together, it all felt very me, which is the best thing possible for an outfit, in my opinion. I wasn’t the only one who loved it, either: I got a ton of compliments throughout the day.

Day 2

One of the earliest trends I spotted at the Fall 2026 shows was added hip volume—padded hips, structured skirts, drop waists. So, when getting dressed for day two, I gravitated to this tulle-lined taffeta dress in my closet from ASOS’s elevated ARRANGE line. (My exact dress is sold out, but there are similar options here and here). The basque waist and added hip volume feel current, and this soft teal-tinged blue is just so pretty.

The city was still covered in snow, so I needed something warm to wear with this sleeveless dress. Naturally, I reached for my go-to faux fur. I wasn’t kidding when when I first reviewed the relaunch of June + Vie last year: This coat is IT. In an outfit full of statement pieces, I still got lots of compliments on this soft, fluffy, and overall fabulous jacket. It’s also wonderfully warm, which was great for running all over NYC for shows and presentations.

The piece de resistance, in my opinion, was absolutely this stunning pair of Alexis Bittar earrings. Crystal-encrusted, sculptural, and with the molten metal effect that I find the designer to do best, they were a true statement. The shape is so cool, too, so I was beyond excited to find an XXL version on display at the brand’s presentation this season, laid out and tagged like evidence of the violent, poignant vignette that played out on stage. The contrast between the maximalist glamour of the designs and the pointed social commentary I’ve come to expect from Alexis Bittar’s shows just makes me love the brand even more. I will definitely be eagle-eyed watching for the drop of those beautifully over-the-top earrings, too.

Day 3

This look was relatively simple, compared to some of my others this season, but the structure of and details on this dark-wash denim dress were enough for me. The oversized grommets at the neckline and asymmetrical shoulder draping drew me right in. I was really impressed with the fit, too: It’s completely true to size, and worked on my full bust (something I wasn’t 100% sure would happen before I tried it on!). The dress ended up being a great fit for the elevated tailoring at Robert Rodriguez’s excellent debut as creative director of Derek Lam.

This dress is cocktail-ready, but I decided to style it a little more casually for my day, pairing it with dark brown suede boots (that come in a true wide-calf option!) and a nipped-waist jacket in a pretty oxblood hue for warmth. I added tortoiseshell sunnies and a tan Luar Ana bag with a circular handle that echoes the shape of the grommets. I felt both polished and cool. Most crucially, I still looked fresh after a full day of events—even more important, since I ended up sitting front row directly across from pop stars Slayyyter and Bebe Rexha at the sexy Christian Cowan show.

Day 4

When it comes to romance, working in fashion is not easy. I personally have it particularly bad: My wedding anniversary is smack-dab in the middle of New York Fashion Week in September, and Valentine’s Day often falls right during the February shows. That was the case again this season, but my lovely husband came out to meet me for brunch during my one break of the day. That meant my outfit had to go from front row to date-ready.

I chose a statement set that looks just as good without the jacket, and paired it with some sweet red accents in the form of red boots and a cutie 2000’s-era rose petal print Fendi bag from Designer Revival (one of my go-to places for finding cool designer consignment). This coat and dress combo is actually straight from Eloquii’s NYFW debut last September, and I fell in love with it the moment I saw it on the runway. I wasn’t the only one either: The day before, I ran into THE Danielle Pinnock at the Alexis Bittar presentation wearing the same set. Great minds!

Both pieces are sadly almost sold out by now, but I cannot recommend them strongly enough. They look like they cost 10x what they do, and the quality is fantastic. I got literally more compliments than I could keep track of, both at NYFW and on the street between shows.

Day 5

After a week of long, 14,000+ step days, I had a blessedly chill schedule, with only two shows. Since they both started after dark, I decided to go for more of a night-out vibe.

Seeing as the Kim Shui show was on a moving boat (!!!), I also needed to make sure I was warm enough, so I styled my outfit around a faux fur coat with substance: this fringe trim, zebra-print number from Ulla Popken. It’s a statement in and of itself, and doesn’t really need much. But I am who I am, and I always consider Fashion Week the perfect time to lean into my more-is-more maximalist-leaning sensibilities. So, instead of keeping it simple, I did just the opposite, amping up the texture (more fringe!) and adding another print into the mix. I layered a metallic paneled black bodysuit under the fringe button-down, which also gave some bottom coverage under the semi-sheer polka-dot sequin midi skirt.

To keep all of these elements harmonious—and the outfit from tipping over the edge into outright chaos—I kept the palette limited to black, white, and silver. With a metallic orb-studded bag and my trusty patent over-the-knee boots, it came together just as I hoped.

Day 6

For the last day of shows (and another one that stretched from morning to night), I resolved to keep comfort at the forefront. And after a week of dresses, that absolutely meant jeans for me. I went with a dark indigo version of one of my go-to styles: the wide-leg “Rylan” flare from Anthropologie’s Pilcro denim line. I generally find the jeans to be true to size and great quality, and this style is no exception (hence why they stay in regular rotation in my closet). To zhuzh them up for Fashion Week, I added a scalloped-sleeve ribbed cardigan with cool molten gold buttons. I love the unique shape of the sleeves, and I got a lot of compliments about the Schiaparelli-esque vibes of the hardware.

I took inspiration from that gold for the rest of my accessories, from eyeglasses to boots to a vintage patent bag with a substantial gold clasp. I brought the gorgeous molten metal Alexis Bittar earrings back out for this one, too—they were just too pretty not to!

I added my beloved Baacal python-print tench coat to keep me warm and stylish while running around the city, and ended the day with an excellent independent designer (Taottao) showing at the most unexpected location: a secret theater inside Port Authority. In all my seasons of attending Fashion Week, it’s good to know that I can still be surprised.

After creative director Demna made his debut via a short film and star-studded red carpet premiere in September, Gucci is back on the runway for Fall 2026. But we’re not supposed to call it a fashion show—in a pre-show letter, the designer wrote that he preferred a different classification: a “birthday.”

That’s just the first of several shake-ups anticipated at today’s Milan Fashion Week show. Though his first collection was revealed last fall—and his product begins to arrive in stores—Demna considers today’s runway the real start of his vision. His open letter teeing up the “Primavera” Fall 2026 line (named for the Botticelli painting that inspired the Gucci Flora fragrance) dropped a few more left-turn hints. This Gucci, he teased, is going to get “lighter, softer, more refined.” It’s going to honor Gucci’s history not as a maison, but as a “superbrand” churning out “pragmatic products.” (Reading between the lines, that’s a reference to key items like the Jackie bag and Jordaan loafer.) Most of all, it’s going to treat “Gucci as culture”—whatever that means.

There’s a lot of pressure for Demna’s Gucci to succeed. In an interview with The New York Times, Demna described the mood at the Kering-owned brand as “a little bit hopeless” upon his arrival in 2025. After predecessor Sabato De Sarno’s tenure came and went in the span of two seasons, Gucci fell from its perch at the top of the industry. Share prices declined; so did sales. Demna’s “Famiglia” look book and movie for Spring 2026 were well-received, but the lead-up to this Milan Fashion Week show has courted some controversy—namely because of the AI-generated images promoting today’s collection, which riled up customers and fashion people alike.

One thing’s for sure: This is going to be the fashion show everyone talks about all weekend. Despite having a soft spot for sheer cutouts and topless gowns, Megan Thee Stallion doesn't wear naked dresses nearly as often as Hailey Bieber or Kim Kardashian. On February 26, she finally embraced It girls' favorite form of sheer dressing at Milan Fashion Week.

The Grammy winner jumped straight to front-row styling after the 2026 Winter Olympics. (YouTube's "Megan Takes Milan" series crowned her NBC's honorary correspondent.) Megan made her Milan Fashion Week debut at Roberto Cavalli's Fall 2026 presentation—the Italian label behind her second-ever Grammys gown in 2022. Roberto Cavalli is known for challenging sultry silhouettes with eclectic prints, usually of the animal variety. Megan's entirely sheer, long-sleeve dress married the two house codes, though its exact choice of animal is still up for debate.

Bambi-ish pops of white decorated the dress's black mesh exterior. Every element—including the high neck and underwear-baring skirt—clung to her body like second skin. It was so transparent you could see Megan's stringy black thong underneath, as well as her choice to leave the matching bra at home. Clearly, she was saving her most NSFW selects for outings far beyond the Olympics broadcasts.

Who needs accessories when your body-ody-ody is the main event? The "Body" rapper only chose black shield sunglasses, a patent leather top-handle bag, and ankle-strap stilettos to finish her front-row 'fit. No diamonds were needed: Her deep side-part hair shined just as bright.

Unless her midi made of chainmail at Gaurav Gupta's Spring 2025 Couture show last January counts, we haven't seen Megan in a dress this consistently sheer since the 2023 GQ Men of the Year party. For a quick refresher, she stole the show in an equally-see-through halter gown by Salih Balta. Lighter-than-air brown tulle draped past her plunge bust and waist cutout onto the mermaid-shaped skirt. Black lace trim, plus black and red beadwork, were the gown's only opaque elements.

Back to her latest look. Megan's MFW festivities technically began the night prior, at the opening party of Amiri's Milan flagship store. Before going fully sheer, she tested the naked waters in a halter-neck dress crafted from chocolate fishnet. Strategically-placed floral embroidery acted in lieu of nipple pasties, but a matching G-string peeked through just like its successor.

The monochrome botanical motif returned in spades toward the maxi's ankle-grazing hem. Every once and a while, blink-and-you'll-miss-them rhinestones caught the camera's eye.

Megan Thee Stallion touched down in Milan over a week ago, so she might as well stay put until the final runway show on March 2. With Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Giorgio Armani, and more still on the calendar, she and her stylist, Isiah Ahmad, could turn the rest of MFW into "Megan Takes Milan Part Two."

Marni is meant to be a safe haven for the fashion freaks. The brand is both eclectic and chic—the clothing equivalent of the quirky, artsy girl in high school who smiled at you in the hallway but sat with the popular kids at lunch time.

One minute into Meryll Rogge’s Fall 2026 Marni debut, you could tell the newly appointed creative director gets this highly specific POV. The show, presented during Milan Fashion Week, opened with a shredded ivory top coat layered over a three-hole-punched pewter turtleneck and a jet black slip skirt covered in giant, grapefruit-sized pailettes. The look was weird, wonderful, and so very Marni.

For three decades, the Italian fashion house has brought a maximalist perspective to the industry's mainstage. Under Francesco Risso, who sat at the helm for ten years before Rogge joined, Marni pushed color, print, and texture to new frontiers. Canary yellow can be cool. Fur can be draped like silk if you just believe! Remember Hunter Schafer’s floral collaged and sticker dress? That was Marni by Risso.

Rogge—one of the few women currently designing for a luxury fashion house—wasted no time picking up where Rossi left off. The Belgian designer showed butter yellow nylon dresses with bubble hems; flannel boxer briefs fashioned into micro shorts; and multiple riffs on ribbed knee-high socks that looked standard from the shins down, but then transformed into pointed-toe Western booties at the feet. She also sees your sneakerina trend and raises you Frankenstein boots that are a feat of both fashion and science. This is a designer who understands that aspirational luxury fashion can still have a sense of humor, clearly.

You could say that Rogge has been training her entire career to take the Marni reins. She cut her teeth at Marc Jacobs and headed women’s design at Dries Van Noten, two free-spirited brands known for exaggerated proportions and fabulously unexpected color combinations. Her eclectic namesake label, founded in 2020, also regularly sweeps at fashion awards ceremonies. Just two weeks before her Marni appointment last July, Rogge took home the prestigious ANDAM Prize (and the 300,000 euros it comes with) for her funky cutout trousers and double-stacked cardigans.

Moreover, Rogge is an obvious student of the brand. “I’m just trying to do what’s right for this house more than trying to understand what’s been done elsewhere,” Rogge told Vogue two days ahead of her debut collection. “This house always had an independent character, and that’s how we approached it.” The supersized sequins and hole cutouts featured throughout her introductory collection were homages to Marni’s signature polka dot motifs, done the Rogge way. The same goes for her shaggy faux fur outerwear: Marni was originally a fur-only label and an offshoot of founder Consuelo Castiglioni’s family fur business, after all.

It’s a full-circle moment for a brand founded by a female designer to once again have a woman in charge. (Castiglioni launched Marni in 1994 and remained creative director until 2016, when she then passed the baton to Rossi.) Rogge at the helm returns the fashion house to its roots and—hopefully!—signals the start of a domino effect in the industry's hiring practices.

At the very least, it's a natural appointment. Not only can Rogge provide the maximalist punch that gives Marni its juice, but she also has that keen understanding of what women want to wear, which often only comes from being one yourself. Women designing freaky, fun clothes for women? Now that has a nice ring to it…
