It’s hard to believe that something I have been talking about for over a year is finally happening...I am leaving New York City. Anyone who knows me knows that I thrive in warmer weather. My favorite elements of fashion have always been distressed denim, bright colors, zebra print, camouflage, and fun shoes—I love being able to throw on a graphic tee and jeans or Adidas pants without a coat to cover up the statement pieces that go hand-in-hand with my personal style. I also absolutely despise the way coats make it impossible to keep a handbag on my shoulder, and any type of weather-appropriate footwear has always made me cringe.

In these final months leading up to the big move, I have been separating my wardrobe into “keep” and “store” piles, while adding some new essentials that will prove beneficial for my impending warm-weather-all-year-long aesthetic. I have never been one to shy away from a sporty look and have always loved the idea of juxtaposing a pair of track pants with heels or a nylon anorak with tailored trousers. Whether it’s a pink sweatpant and graphic tee or Adidas capris and a Marine Serre tank (with a cardigan for heavily air-conditioned spaces), I can’t wait to rotate these looks with my trusty black sequined Repettos.

One thing that I really won’t miss about New York City is that it is truly impossible to wear cute shoes. It’s either raining or snowing or my favorite heels are just too high (and too delicate) to walk more than a few steps on the concrete streets.

Thinking Pink

To say that my move to Miami has furthered my affinity for pink would be an understatement. I have always been privy to the feminine hue but sometimes felt weird wearing it in the sea of black that fills the streets of Manhattan from January to May. With a warmer climate and more hours of sunlight, I think my predominantly pink wardrobe, including tees, tanks, pants, bags, and more, will be just right.

The idea of wearing shoes without socks for a prolonged period of time in Manhattan has always made me feel slightly uneasy. I came to this conclusion when I saw how dirty the bottom of my feet got after running to a corner bodega and back to my apartment in under five minutes (don’t worry, the shower was my first stop upon entering my humble abode). Without having to worry as much about the dirty city streets, I am truly excited to wear my favorite footwear trend of the season—the thong-heeled sandal. It truly looks good with everything, from track pants and a baby tee to low-rise jeans and camisoles.

On the press tour for Elle, Prime Video's series imagining the high school origin story of Legally Blonde's Elle Woods, newcomer Lexi Minetree has been paying faithful homage to the original Delta Nu and eventual Harvard Law School graduate, Reese Witherspoon. Between the red-carpet callbacks and a teaser trailer full of hot pink bikinis, peony feather pens, and '90s back issues of Cosmopolitan, viewers may expect Minetree's outfits on Elle to be just as faithful to the source material: all fuchsia and sequins, all calling back to Elle's anti-Ivy League wardrobe from the movies. By Elle's palette in the pilot, it's clear anyone who thinks orange is the new pink is definitely disturbed. But as series costume designers Sophie de Rakoff and Sara Byblow shared in an interview with Marie Claire, the wardrobing goal was never to exactly replicate Legally Blonde's outfits.

"Everyone is very, very familiar with the Legally Blonde aesthetic and the universe," says de Rakoff, who designed costumes for both the original Legally Blonde and its 2003 sequel. "So you don't need to put a hat on a hat. Our approach to [Elle's styling] always was: only if it works for the character, and if it helps propel the narrative, as opposed to just putting things in for the sake of it."

"We didn't want to replicate," Byblow agrees. It wouldn't make sense for a high-school junior version of Elle to pack the same clothes for law school a few years later, after all. (One constant is that Elle is a certified shopper—so aside from a few special pieces, her closet would naturally evolve.)

Set aside expectations that the series will perfectly encapsulate '90s Bel-Air style, too. "Sophie and I both were so adamant from the beginning that we are not a documentary. We're not saying that we're based specifically in the '90s," Byblow says. "We are living in our own Legally Blonde universe, so it was more so about finding pieces that felt like our character." Meaning: While there are a few vintage pulls here and there, Elle's final edit mixes up archival finds with custom-made pieces and items from right now.

If exact '90s collections and Reese Witherspoon's original wardrobe weren't the starting point for imagining Elle as a teen, what were? The costume designers say they spent hours mood boarding, thinking of women who would inspire Elle's nearly-unwavering optimism and her sense of style: Goldie Hawn for comedy, Claudia Schiffer for modeling. "The biggest thing was always just building out the world around her before we ever touched any piece of clothing," Byblow says.

Once the costume designers had a sense of Elle's starting point, they could begin exploring how her wardrobe would evolve. The script provided a roadmap: After a litigious mishap at her father's plastic surgery practice, Elle and her parents move from Bel-Air to Seattle. It's an outsider versus insider set-up that's made all the more stark when Elle arrives for her first day of school with a pink Gucci backpack and matching mini dress. Obviously, she's sticking out in a sea of grunge plaid shirts and baggy cargoes.

Pay close attention to the shades she's wearing. "The soft pink satin that we see on the first day of school reflected that vulnerability and being that fish out of water in Seattle," Byblow says. "Elle has her own moments of changing and evolving throughout, [which] you'll see through texture and color."

The centerpiece of the series, however, isn't saved for Elle's move to Seattle. It's the first full look viewers see: a hot pink mini dress for Elle's Sweet 16 birthday party, set with a giant, baby pink bow on the neckline. "[We] put so much thought and intention and love into this one particular costume, because it was a proof of concept of so many things for us," de Rakoff says.

Pink in any shade is shorthand for "Elle Woods"; this pink shows the character in her element. At home in Bel-Air, "She is her most confident, grounded self. Having her in this texture and this hot pink really was supposed to sell the fact of that confidence," Byblow says. "That color tone, specifically at the start of the show, was really important to us in telling that story."

The day Lexi Minetree tried on Elle's birthday party dress is the day de Rakoff and Byblow knew their costuming approach captured the essence of everyone's favorite lawyer-in-training—even with their tweaks and re-imaginings for the prequel.

"I remember when we were doing the camera tests, and [Lexi] walked onto the stage with the perfect camera makeup, the dress, the shoes...it really was a moment," de Rakoff says. "It reminded me of doing the camera test with Reese, when she had when she came out in the Jackie O outfit [for Legally Blonde 2]. You could see it in the camera lens, who that character is." No objections.

Princess Diana would have celebrated her 65th birthday on Wednesday, July 1, and her twin nieces, Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer, are keeping her fashion legacy alive. Earl Spencer’s daughters wore very Diana-esque linen vests to the Wimbledon championships on June 30, and they returned for the action on July 2 in breezy white dresses by a Princess Kate-approved brand.

All of a sudden, I've fallen in love with knits. I have to admit—knitted fabric was never among my summer wardrobe go-tos, maybe for obvious reasons. It's like I got bit by some fashion bug of sorts, but I'm not mad about it. Now, not only am I incorporating knit pieces into my wardrobe, I'm actively building outfits around them. The other day I was out enjoying the sun and stumbled upon the cutest crochet jacket from Mango. An inexpensive purchase, this jacket feels and looks luxe, a total win for me.

Beyond crochet—which isn't technically a knitted fabric, but for the sake of this story I'll consider it one—I'm super into knit tanks at the moment. Several have made their way into my “staples pile," since they're so easy to throw on with trousers, summer denim pants, shorts, slip skirts, or any summer skirt.

I've also been gravitating towards full knit sets. My absolute favorite in rotation: the Ulla Johnson Paulina Skirt and Koa top. You can find this set in black and also a lovely ivory (which I'm packing with me for every summer getaway). The black I wore in Lake Como last summer, and whatever you think about black in the summer, I loved the look and felt chic.

I think most people know me as a bag-a-holic, and while I do love a great bag, you'll be surprised to hear that my true love is my shoe collection. I LOVE shoes. I can still remember my Nana's shoe collection as a child. She had some epic collectibles and her passion for beautiful things made her a true character. There's a famous story in my family about my Nana and my Aunt driving through a flood zone when the car started filling up with water. My Nana was so concerned about her shoes getting wet that she was screaming, holding them up above the rising water. They ended up abandoning the car, and my Nana was seen running down Northern Blvd barefoot. She had to protect her crocodile loafers! I can relate to this so deeply, and I think I owe my love of shoe collecting entirely to her.

I consider myself a maximal minimalist and my shoe choices reflect exactly that. Sometimes I go a little more out there, but for the most part they're shoes that can elevate a simple pajama set or jeans and a tee. Let's go through some of my favorite silhouettes and the new-season versions I have my eyes on.

Ahh, my MVP! I live in ballet flats all year round. In summer with a loose linen pant and in winter with trousers and a sock. You can't go wrong with a ballet flat, and I think they have a wonderful ability to polish a look off. My current obsession is the new pony hair by Chanel. The Flip-Flop Wedge

A kitten wedge flip-flop is my new favorite summer staple. So chic and so comfortable, which is such a bonus! My number one are these by Prada. Again with the patent leather. I'm very into patent right now.

Second up, I just discovered these by Christopher Esber. I love their footwear.

These by Jude are also a top contender. They feel so '90.

Slinky Satin

Last but not least, I cannot stop buying slinky satin shoes. I'm on a major '90s kick and a satin shoe is just so timeless. My most recent purchase were these by The Row. They're a shoe I'll keep forever. They go with everything from a vintage jean to a black tie gown.

Satin flip-flops, yes please...I cannot stop thinking about these from Alaïa. I love how they're styled with a serious trouser. The gray-blue color also feels very modern.

And last on the satin front, I'm a sneaker girl through and through, and these by Dries Van Noten are so fun. I love the gray and blush combination.

Like I said, I'm a true shoe addict and I'm always down to chat footwear. One parting thought: life is too short for uncomfortable shoes, but it's even shorter for boring ones.

From there, Hathaway's latest pregnancy outfit took a turn toward the exclusive. New York-based brand Ashlyn offers her sleeveless, ruffle-trimmed top for $750. Then there's her Bulgari Serpenti Watch, but you can't receive the price tag without an in-person appointment. The diamond-encrusted design is that valuable.

Up until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t owned jelly sandals as an adult. This isn’t because I don’t like them, but rather that I wasn’t sure I could ever get past the peak jelly-sandal era I lived through in the early ‘90s. Fighting with my two sisters over who called “dibs” on which color at Gap Kids and convincing our mother to get the coordinating rubber raincoats to our designated sandal color was clearly a core memory for me.

With all this delightful nostalgia attached to this shoe style, I didn’t think I needed to relive it. And yet, a water-resistant sandal with great ventilation seems like a great addition to my function-forward New England wardrobe. But how would I make them make sense for me now?

I would need something that still felt charming but not so juvenile. Enter this fabulous Vince pair that just launched this summer. This narrow babouche slipper style in a grid pattern is a more streamlined, chic version and, as a bonus, has a very comfy padded leather footbed. Side note: I am also very cautious and will wear extra sunscreen on my feet to avoid a potential grid tan, as these stay in constant rotation.

As far as what to wear them with, is “everything” an annoying answer? Yes, but it’s also the right one. The “chive” green of this pair is a pretty traditional army green, so it’s a great neutral, but I also think this style in a pop of color could be just as versatile. I love how my toes are covered in case I’m caught between pedicures, and that when traipsing through dewy grass on the first dog walk of the day, they don’t leave me with a soggy shoe for the rest of the morning.

In terms of reviving the nostalgia of the '90s, I think this pair is the modern answer that still feels just as playful but a little more polished for my adult life. For a super sunny summer day of doing a walking backyard garden tour in town, I opted for a “fancy” Prada T-shirt dress I snagged on the RealReal, tied a striped long sleeve around the waist (mainly because the dress is so sheer), grabbed a straw shoulder bag, and slid on my jelly slides. It felt effortless and casual, yet still pulled together enough to be out and about around people, and the jellies were the perfect shoe for strolling through gardens. I clocked about 11,000 steps this day, and these jellies gave me no issue. 10/10 would wear this ‘fit again for brunch or a summer playdate with my kid.

These old Junya Watanabe cropped patchwork jeans from 2013 are my true summer jeans that I wear at least twice a week. Paired with a denim shirt is classic look and adding the jellies felt like “farmers-market fabulous” but I didn’t want to pigeon-hole myself there. So I topped the look off with a polished Chanel mini bag with a silk scarf that brings it off the homestead and into a coastal downtown vibe for lunch al fresco or even a casual happy hour drink. I would probably have just worn my tried and true boat shoes but the jellies feel way more fun and a little more of a considered choice for an otherwise rugged look.

Inspired by the raincoats my sisters and I coordinated with our jellies 30 years ago, I decided to lean into the olive green of my jellies for a head-to-toe look. These old Marc Jacobs shorts I got from The RealReal in 2018 are always a summer crowd-pleaser, especially now that board shorts are very hot. I paired them with a dark green Jungmaven linen tee (a summer must-have) and my olive-green nylon Prada backpack, filled with water bottles and sunscreen, for a morning of strawberry picking. I might have been the only person wearing runway Marc Jacobs at the berry patch, but I somehow didn’t feel out of place. I’m crediting the low-key charm of the jellies for that.

The babydoll dress trend is officially all grown up. These days, styling these feminine minis with Mary Janes is considered the obvious option—so celebrities are branching out. Weeks after Olivia Rodrigo's Dr. Martens boots gave her babydoll some edge, Daisy Edgar-Jones styled her little white McQueen dress with an avant-garde heels trend.

Designer dresses rarely get the solo spotlight on Edgar-Jones's Instagram grid, unless her photoshoot follows an award season red carpet or a fashion show. Corset pumps look exactly how they sound: Black, bow-tied laces replaced familiar, been there, done that leather vamps. Then, a matching eyelet pattern bordered the otherwise ivory pair's openings. To finish, half-wedge, half-stiletto heels turned black to complement the lace-up toe boxes.

During the mid-March 2026 show, a feathery crossbody bag dangled beneath the dress's cropped hemline. Edgar-Jones, on the other hand, let the dress and shoes speak for themselves.

Daisy Edgar-Jones knew corset pumps were too fabulously freaky to remain hidden beneath denim trends and capri pants. McQueen's babydoll dress—and its sky-high hemline—promised they were the star of the show.

I guess when another thong-free style is just as strappy as flip-flops (if not more), they're not exactly necessary. That seems to be Taylor-Joy's mindset when it comes to the slim sandal trend.

The Queen's Gambit star was spotted mid-shopping spree in New York City, her heatwave-proof sandals on full display. One millimeter-thin bands stretched horizontally atop her toes and vamps, before continuing vertically toward her ankles.

At first glance, they seemed to be an $890 pair from The Row, though she doesn't wear the Olsen twin-led label as often as Bieber or Jenner. The outermost strap was also noticeably missing The Row's itty-bitty, silver buckle atop. That said, they could be the under $300 Serenity Bare Sandal from Reformation. She's remained loyal to the L.A.-based brand's footwear since 2024, after all.

Whether they're Reformation, The Row, or none of the above, the slim sandals elevated her white T-shirt and navy blue mini skirt just like a heeled flip-flop would.

Anya Taylor-Joy isn't the only star pressing pause on the flip-flops takeover. Serena Williams and Wimbledon go way back, which is why her circa-2026 comeback is such a big deal. After making her singles debut in 1998, Williams secured her first Wimbledon title in 2002. Puma was her leading sponsor at the time, so she competed against her sister Venus Williams in a sleeveless, stark-white tennis dress from the German athletic label. If anyone deserves an early push present, it's Anne Hathaway, who announced her third pregnancy in the middle of promoting five feature films. On June 29, her baby bump wasn't the only new addition to New York City's street style scene. Hathaway debuted her brand-new Dior Cigale Bag, a move that migrated the pop star-beloved bag into rich-mom territory.

Hathaway is days away from embarking on her The Odyssey press tour, before it hits theaters on July 17. So, she dipped her toe into red carpet-worthy, maternity styling with a boatneck T-shirt, semi-sheer trousers, $150 Mary Jane mules from L'AGENCE, and Dior Cigale, all in black. Perhaps she curated Monday's off-duty outfit around her new It bag. (Sabrina Carpenter, Rihanna, and Ariana Grande did the same with their Cigales.)

Anne Hathaway's closet runs relatively low on Dior designs, unless we're talking sunglasses. But during her second pregnancy in Oct. 2019, she roamed around NYC in Maria Grazia Chiuri's Book Tote. The branded, Toile de Jouy Sauvage motif made her bottomless cotton bag unmissable. She dressed it down with a cozy turtleneck sweater, a trench coat, leggings, and Adidas Stan Smith sneakers.

This summer you can find me outside. After the past three summers of being pregnant, breastfeeding, or the nonstop chasing of an almost two-year-old, I’m ready to have some fun. And by fun I mean drinks out. To commemorate a summer of feeling more like my nightlife-loving self again, I styled three outfits inspired by my favorite cocktails of this oh-so-fleeting season. And everyone is invited—no actual booze is necessary to participate! Much like my “pop of citrus” theory, dressing like a drink brings whimsy and joy to building summer outfits when it’s almost too hot to be creative. Luckily, it’s still chilly enough at night for my brain to be active, so I went to my closet, pulled my best ingredients, and decided to shake things up. From Mudslides to Dark ‘n Stormy’s and Hugo spritzes, here’s what and how I’m serving my take on these classics. Cheers!

Dressing Like a…Mudslide

Mudslides are a quintessential New England summer drink, and to match the vibe of the frozen, chocolatey, and borderline messy cocktail, I wanted a casual outfit that felt fun and kind of silly. I recently visited Nantucket, customized a pair of sneakers with Reebok and Cru of Two PR, and ended the evening with an obligatory mudslide (and a half, if you must know). The sneakers with playful mismatched laces are the anchor of the look, which I paired with an oversized men’s secondhand Ralph Lauren polo in white with brown stripes, which I fashioned into a dress with a cinched belt-bag waist. I topped the look with a Nantucket Reds bucket hat for a true homage to the vibe. This one felt like a low-key, day-drinking-with-the-masses outfit, especially with sun coverage, a hands-free handbag, and a comfortable shoe for standing. See you at the bar.

Dressing Like a… Dark and Stormy

To me, this outfit feels very 2016, which tracks because I also used to drink quite a few Dark and Stormy’s around that time, especially in Bermuda, where the drink originated. But, like the outfit, you simply can’t go wrong with a classic. A Gosling’s Rum (no other can be used, sorry) shade of dark brown SoldOut.The NYC tee, paired with a ginger-beer-shade of gold silk skirt, mimics the combo, and my Margaux ballet flats are clearly the slice of lime. A basket bag secures the whole thing as a summer ‘fit that’s perfectly day-to-night, just like the drink.

Dressing like a…Hugo Spritz

I definitely drank one of these in 2021 during Milan Fashion Week, but my kid’s Gen Z sitter insists that a Hugo Spritz is the drink of Summer 2026, so I’m listening to her. It’s a Gen Z’s world, and I just live in it! This outfit, with pieces I also procured in 2021, feels just like the simple sophistication of this cocktail and is exactly what I’d like to be wearing when I’m drinking it. The soft cream of this cashmere Ralph Lauren find and old Sergio Rossi sandals is the shade of prosecco, and the floral lace of this secondhand Chanel skirt is a nod to the spritz's signature elderflower note. A green Lindquist tote represents a healthy sprig of mint, and now I feel breezy, sophisticated, and dare I say, kind of Italian? Perfetto for a rooftop Hugo Spritz at sunset.

On Instagram, Dua Lipa is still sharing FOMO-inducing photos from her Italian wedding and honeymoon. In reality, she's flying back to New York City in an airport outfit including minimal bridal whites. Immediately, Lipa wasted no time trading Euro summer swimsuits for the denim every celebrity wears when they're walking through customs—even during a heatwave.

Some newlyweds remain in bridal dressing mode until they're safe and sound at home. Lipa, on the other hand, took cues from her unmarried self's travel style, starting with Celine's take on straight-leg denim. She re-wore the $1,200 Boyfriend Jeans, which joined her closet four weeks before she said "I do" in Bianca Jagger-inspired Schiaparelli. Lipa occasionally sampled baggier bottoms in the early 2020s, but jeans like these—mid-rise, with a skintight waistband, and slightly flared hems—are her favorites for four years running.

The pop star styled her Celine jeans with a familiar uniform, stacking a baby blue button-down over a white T-shirt. Sold-out, knee-high boots from Chrome Hearts replaced travel slippers.

Her boots' matte black leather matched a go-to travel tote: the Hermès Birkin 30 with silver palladium hardware. The five-figure collector's item was barely visible beneath her crewneck. Lipa's Birkin sells secondhand for upwards of $26,000, though it's likely increased in value since she carried it in London last November.

To finish, the "Houdini" singer popped on a paparazzi-blocking baseball cap and her diamond engagement ring. The designer behind the chunky, internet-breaking band finally came forward last week: Milan-based fine jewelry label EÉRA claimed responsibility for its “natural diamond design."

It seems fashion girls have Celine to thank for putting Lipa onto straight-leg jeans. This time last year, she was spotted outside Schiaparelli in an almost identical pair. Even her pinstripe Ludovic de Saint Sernin button-down could've been her airport Oxford's long lost sister.

Straight-leg jeans like these became the new street style norm last summer, thanks to Lipa, Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and more. And while temperatures are heating up, the style isn't going anywhere: In fact, it's one of summer's most accessible denim trends.

Shop the Straight-Leg Denim Trend Inspired by Dua Lipa

Last October, Chanel's Maxi Flap Bag made its runway debut alongside cap-toe pumps. Now, the classic carry-all can't stop elevating summer shoe trends like heeled flip-flops and soft loafers. On June 29, Chanel's It bag took one of fashion's most divisive designs under its calfskin leather wing: Kaia Gerber's Ugg boots reached ballet flat levels of luxe with her Maxi Flap.

Six weeks after Chanel's best-seller joined Gerber's collection, the two are still very much in the honeymoon phase. Translation: She's still styling the Chanel bag everywhere, including a Monday morning spa session in Beverly Hills. Gerber was spotted post-facial in a cropped black cardigan, matching easy pants, and the top-flap tote fashion girls could ID from a mile away.

She carried the same $9,300, burgundy Maxi Flap in Kendall Jenner's closet, beloved for its slim shoulder straps, bottomless rectangular body, and minimalist branding. The French label's interlocking "C" clasp came in yellow gold, just like the original Spring 2026 style. Despite the four-figure price tag, its structured yet slouchy silhouette matched the effortless, "I just threw this on" energy of her entire off-duty outfit. Yes, even her Uggs.

Gerber's Chanel bag and Ugg boots have more in common than you might think. For instance, her Classic Micro Boots seem to be as brand-new as her Maxi Flap. She styled the low-profile, sheepskin-lined pair in the "Chestnut" color on the Oct. 2025 set of The Shards. These soft suede shoes, however, seem to be a few shades lighter than their $150 predecessors. The model's "Sand" color is also a bit more wallet-friendly, retailing for $139.95 right now.

At this point, Gerber's Uggs collection is nearing its fifth birthday. Contrary to fellow Ugg girls, Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa, and Jennifer Lawrence, she skipped right past calf-length Classic Short II boots in favor of shorter shafts. Pairing under-$200 Uggs with buzzy designer bags has always been a Kaia Gerber Classic. In 2021, not one, not two, but three different Celine purses were spotted on L.A. strolls with her cropped, pull-tab Ugg boots.

Much like Gomez, Lipa, and Lawrence, Gerber is still widening her Ugg horizons. In April 2025, she traded Micro Boots for even easier, Rihanna-approved Tasman Slippers. The grab-and-go slides have been MIA since last summer, though. But if Micro Boots can match the Maxi Flap's uncomplicated charm, who's to say Tasmans can't, too?

Finding fashionable workwear is a year-round challenge, but something about summer makes it even harder. Navigating the transition between sweltering commutes and icy air conditioning is never easy, especially if you want to look good doing it. Add in shopping for plus sizes (which are mostly online lately), and it starts to feel like a whole ordeal.

Fortunately, there are some chic, summer-friendly, and often underrated in-office, plus-size options out there. Ahead, get to know some of my top workwear brands as a plus-size fashion expert and blogger.

Eloquii for Stylish Suiting

I’ve wear-tested the majority of plus-size workwear brands on the market. One of my overarching takeaways is that plus-specific brands are a great place to start if you are looking for a great fit in blazers and trousers.

Eloquii is a perfect example. I’ve been a fan of the New York-based brand's statement suits for over a decade now, collecting them in every shape, color, and print. Creative director Yesenia Torres keeps her eye on upcoming trends, and you can always find both classic suits and of-the-moment takes from the brand.

This summer-perfect, short-sleeve edition is my latest obsession. The light color keeps things cool, the voluminous pleat-front pants fit like a dream, and I absolutely love the hourglass’s structured curve.

My only recommendation is to definitely size up once if you are fuller busted like me. My usual size here is a bit too snug through the chest for the average office, but going up one size will accommodate a large chest, no problem. I still feel powerful and sharp in this size, but I know from firsthand experience how much controversy even the tiniest bit of cleavage can cause in some offices. So, I recommend adding a lightweight, silk tank top underneath if you want more coverage.

Spanx for Surprisingly Soft Workwear

I know, I know: Famed shapewear brand Spanx is probably not the first name that comes to mind when you think of airy summer office attire, but it should absolutely be on your radar! With sizes up to 3x and an assortment of signature fabrics specifically engineered to be breathable, it’s actually a great option for warm weather workwear. I love the brand-new EasyBreezy cotton-linen blend (especially in wide leg trousers).

Even though it is more mid-weight, Spanx's popular Supersmooth ponte knit pant (with built-in shaping) is still comfortably wearable on a hot day. But of all the styles I tried, this impeccable draped sheath dress stood out as the summer workwear pick.

It might look indistinguishable from a standard structured sheath dress (a plus when it comes to office-wear, to be clear), but it feels like pajamas. The Airessentials fabric is another Spanx signature, made specifically to be breathable and gloriously soft. It's wrinkle resistant, too—something very appreciated when your days involve long stretches of sitting at your desk!

Now that I know how summer-friendly this fabric is, I’m going to be keeping an eye out for other pieces in Airessentials. The only asterisk I’d add for this dress is that it runs a little large, so I’d consider sizing down if you are torn between two sizes. I got my usual 2x and it works well on me, but it’s certainly more loose-fitting than other Spanx items I tried in the same size.

Lane Bryant and Lysse for Sharp Separates

Not every office calls for a full-on suit or even a dress, but sometimes, denim is a touch too casual. In those instances, work-ready separates from Lane Bryant and Lysse are just the thing. Lane Bryant has the benefit of being the longest running plus-size brand. Over a hundred years of fit experience shows up in the way plus size figures are considered in the designs. I’m a big fan of the Perfect Drape trousers, and I tell everyone who will listen that Lane Bryant makes the best plus-size capris on the market.

But the label’s thoughtful silhouettes aren’t just found in pants. Take this sleeveless button-down, for example: The slight swing silhouette gives ease around the midsection and there is still some shape built into the top to keep it from looking too boxy. This style also looks fantastic tucked into a pencil skirt or a pair of wide leg trousers. It can also be easily layered under a blazer if you need arm coverage (or have one of those arctic-level office air conditioners!)

For this look, I paired the sleeveless Oxford with Lysse pants, another of my workwear go-tos. A New York City label that initially focused on leggings, Lysse’s catalog has evolved to include so much more, and I am particularly fond of the pull-on pants. True to the brand’s roots, their bottoms feel like supportive leggings, but look like real pants. The patented compression waistband makes everything lay flat with no squeezing, and the cotton gabardine’s four-way stretch is happily wrinkle resistant. The track pants-inspired side stripes add a sporty vibe that offsets classic pointy pumps.

This look is perfect for more business casual dress codes, and the neutral color means you can add your desk jacket if the AC spikes too high. Form and function! And if you like this shape but prefer covered shoulders, Lysse has a similar poplin button-down with cuffed short sleeves!

Working in the summer is quite literally the worst. Not only does it feel like everyone in the world is having fun except you (even if most people are also reporting to an office), but the countdown to summer Friday freedom and your vacay PTO feels like it’s crawling by. As a freelancer, I broke free from this cycle, but in turn have traded weekends for workdays and a general lack of awareness of what day of the week it is. I am familiar with the struggle of getting office-ready in scorching temps while enduring frigid AC blasting simultaneously—always a challenge! In this predicament of dueling environments, footwear needs to be carefully considered. It depends on your office dress code and personal preference, but no, I do not think showing your feet in an office setting is particularly appropriate. I am also a very cautious sandal wearer in general. Most feel too dressy, sporty or beachy to wear in work-appropriate situations, so I normally gravitate toward closed-toe options that feel seasonally suitable. I’m talking woven leather, canvas, and suede to add a touch of summery earthiness to a work ‘fit that doesn’t feel out of place inside the building or outside for happy hour. Your preserved pedicure will thank you once it’s released to the world on Saturday at the beach.

Try a Canvas Loafer

Loafers are one of the most versatile shoes I own, so I cannot imagine not having at least two pairs in different fabrications for year-round styling. A canvas pair adds lightness and natural texture, spicing up otherwise boring office basics with some seasonal flair. Well-designed shirtdresses are a secret style weapon of mine that I think everyone should have in their weekday wardrobe, so naturally I paired one of my favorites (I have several) with these canvas loafers for a put-together look that takes very little effort on busy mornings. I gave the loafers another summery companion with a straw box bag since I’m kind of fun like that, but a go-to leather work bag can be fine here as well.

Try a Woven Ballet Flat

I love a ballet flat all year long, but sometimes they are not so nice on summer feet. This style specifically tends to be a snug-fitting shoe so if your feet get hot (sweaty or slightly swollen) this will cause some friction. Enter the crochet leather flat. Offering breathability without showing off toes, this closed-toe wonder is a summer shoe must-have for office days or otherwise. I popped mine on with printed silk trousers, a fitted tank top and a sleek black leather bag to make it a little more serious. If I was going into an air-conditioned office, I’d probably add a simple cardigan in a solid neutral color to lean into the retro-feeling silhouette of this outfit.

Try a Suede Mule

Chocolate suede somehow feels a little less harsh than a closed-toe black leather shoe in the middle of summer. The texture still reads polished but with a touch of rustic approachability, but not in a way that is too casual for the office. An open-back mule is basically like a reverse sandal, so there is airflow without showing too much of the foot, but just make sure the heels are moisturized; otherwise, you’ll kill the look. I definitely think it’s cool to lean into summer style by mixing textures, so I ran with a floral silk blouse, white pleated mini, woven belt, and a pop of green bag, and the earthy chocolate brown grounded the whole look without feeling western or bohemian.

Serena Williams and Anna Kournikova both wore engagement rings the size of a tennis ball during Wimbledon matches past. That said, there’s a precedent for Aryna Sabalenka to sport over 60 carats of diamonds and emeralds during her first Wimbledon 2026 match.

On June 29, the Belarusian athlete returned to London's Centre Court with a new, bespoke set of good luck charms. Wimbledon's grass courts and Sabalenka's birthstone inspired New York-based jewelry brand Material Good to sculpt each of her yellow gold sparklers around emerald gemstones.

First, the Aryna Axis Necklace emerged from beneath Sabalenka's sleeveless, stark-white tennis dress from the NikeCourt Heritage collection. 41 chocolate brown, diamond ovals encircled the nape of her neck, accented by ten heart-shaped emerald charms.

Since Wimbledon's all-white dress code doesn't say anything about jewelry, Sabalenka said, "Why not?" to matching earrings. She selected coordinating brown diamond studs for her earring stack, accented with heart-shaped emerald charms underneath. Together, the oval and heart pair retails for $47,200.

Contrary to Williams and Kournikova, Sabalenka left her four-month-old engagement ring in her locker. A crater-sized, 14-carat diamond as large as Williams's might've impacted her Grand Slam-winning serve. Instead, 27 bezel-set emeralds around the heels of her Nike Vapor 12 sneakers tapped into the anklet trend. According to Material Good, the $32,700 Aryna Axis marks the label's first foray into anklet designing.

This year, Material Good has become an essential part of Sabalenka's pre-match ritual. She styled custom jewelry suites from the brand during the 2026 Australian Open and the 2026 French Open. Earlier this month, she made headlines at Stade Roland-Garros for competing in over 200 carats of diamonds and garnets from Material Good.

“Diamonds, I don’t really feel the heaviness, but I can imagine how it looks from the outside,” Sabalenka told reporters. “So I feel pretty comfortable. For me, it’s important to look good.”

200 carats of rich red garnets are so valuable, you'd have to request the price tag directly from Material Good. Her cushion-cut earrings, on the other hand, are available right now for $12,500.

Since Oakberry CEO Georgios Frangulis proposed to Sabalenka in March 2026, she's occasionally worn her engagement ring during matches. The oval-shaped diamond made its tennis debut at March's BNP Paribas Open in California. "It feels pretty comfy," she revealed during a press conference. "It feels shiny. I hope that my opponent will get distracted by this diamond and it's going to benefit me."

Perhaps Sabalenka's Material Good gemstones had the same effect at Wimbledon. After all, she did advance to the next Ladies Singles round.

In my 30s, I told myself I wanted to dress more practically without losing the plot stylistically. So, I’ve been approaching my outfits like a low-stakes science experiment.

• Experimentation: wearing it, moving in it, seeing what holds up by 4 p.m. and what needs adjusting

Through a lot of trial and error—and finally giving up on crop tops—I’ve figured out what consistently works for my short torso: tunics, low-rise pants, and anything that plays with layering or adds length. Here are the style hacks I’m leaning on this season.

Add Length to Your Hemline

Realizing I could add length to pieces I already owned—like all the cropped jackets I bought PST (pre short torso-awareness)—helped calm the panic that came with thinking I needed to abandon hope and everything in my closet.

Whether it’s an apron skirt, long silk or fringe scarf, or a sweater, adding a layer with length can give the illusion of a longer torso, especially when I’m wearing pieces with hemlines that hit above the hip.

By pining instead of tying a sweater or shirt around my hips, I was able to position it lower on my body and create a longer visual line.

Tunics and Longline Tops

As a millennial, accepting that crop tops aren’t my strongest silhouette felt like a formal grieving process. The silhouette can read harsh when your torso is on the shorter side. Tunics create a chic balance, draw the eye downward, and even out my proportions.

When I’m shopping, the hip bone test reigns supreme: if a top hits above it, I know I’m headed for disappointment.

Asymmetric Dresses over Trousers

Whenever I don’t know what to wear but still want to look intentional, an asymmetric dress over trousers is my failsafe. The asymmetry makes the overall silhouette feel longer and more balanced. My eureka moment was realizing that with a vintage pin or brooch I could create an asymmetrical draped silhouette using pieces already in my closet.

Low Rise Pants

When your torso is on the shorter side, a higher rise can feel like it’s flirting with your ribcage. This sensation, paired with a night out, has a short shelf life. My favorite combination is a sheer tunic and low-rise pants, which satisfies my devotion to ’90s minimalism and is a nod to an underrated fictional style icon, Joan Clayton. Low-rise pants are one of the few silhouettes that actually solve a proportion problem for me without having to do much. It’s difficult not to invoke an air of sexiness in black low rise pants, a simple longline black tank, and slingbacks.

You Have To Get Experimental With Untucking Your Shirt

I live in button-ups and trousers. I am almost exclusively non-tuck when it comes to my daily iterations of this look because of my short torso—think Phoebe Philo collection D—but I noticed that my aspirations were being heavily influenced by my Pinterest board full of tucked-in looks.

Tucking in my shirt all the way makes my torso look shorter than it actually is, especially when I was styling it the way I saw others pulling it off—with mid-rise pants and a classic leather belt. After fidgeting in the mirror to arrive at the right percentage point of tucked in, I finally honed in on my new favorite method: partially tucking in an oversized white button-down into a leather midi skirt. At 20-30 percent tucked, the look is billowy, it’s sleek, it’s not shortening everything above my waist.

My findings?

Dressing for my short torso didn’t follow a strict formula. I had to strengthen my understanding of proportions on the fly and actually play in my closet to discern which trends earned long-term real estate in my closet (and on my feed) and which are better admired from afar. After 386 photos and 78 hours in the field, and a massive pile on my bed that took days to clean up, I’ve found that a little extra length—whether through a scarf, a lower rise, or a longer hemline—is my constant variable when getting dressed.

Princess Kate tackled three mountains in 24 hours as she raised money and awareness for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and although she dressed in rugged gear for the challenge, the future Queen kept her accessories royally on brand. The Princess of Wales, 44, climbed the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales between Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, and her jewelry sent a message about what matters most.

Wearing an olive green jacket by hunting brand Härkila with a Fjällräven baseball cap and hiking pants, the Princess of Wales “stripped everything back” for the challenge with “no occasion dressing,” says Nilesh Rakholia, engagement ring expert and founder of Abelini.

“And yet she kept her rings,” he adds. “That is not an accident. That is instinct, and instinct tells you everything.”

The Princess of Wales walked 23 miles and climbed 10,052 feet during the National Three Peaks Challenge, wearing her iconic sapphire and diamond engagement ring that originally belonged to Princess Diana.

“Catherine asked Diana's ring to sit beside her through cancer, through recovery, and now through one of the most physically and emotionally demanding things she has ever done publicly,” Rakholia says. “That tells you everything about where she finds her strength. Family. Always family.”

Although she’s been wearing a thick ring stack recently, including her Welsh gold wedding band, a sapphire and diamond ring, and two diamond bands, it appears that she wore just one diamond band along with her engagement ring in a photo shared by the princess on Instagram.

One of her diamond rings was given to Kate by Prince William after Prince George was born in 2013, and Rakholia notes, “That is not jewelry as adornment. That is jewelry as a talisman. She carried her family up every one of those peaks.”

Along with her rings, the Princess of Wales wore one of her favorite pairs of earrings from Welsh-based small business Spells of Love. The tiny gold hoops feature a dangling garnet charm, and royal and celebrity-favorite jeweler Logan Hollowell tells Marie Claire that Kate’s January birthstone “carries a deeply personal significance.”

“Garnet symbolizes strength, protection, and resilience, so seeing Princess Kate wear her birthstone during such a meaningful challenge feels especially fitting,” Hollowell says. “It's a beautiful reminder that jewelry can tell a story beyond its beauty.”

As for Kate's hiking challenge, she said that her own cancer journey inspired her to take on the climb. “Healing, whether personal or collective, is not just about fixing what is wrong. It is about finding balance in how we live,” she wrote on Instagram.

The all-white dress code at Wimbledon has never stopped Naomi Osaka's personal style from shining on Centre Court. It just encourages Osaka to be a bit more creative with her tennis outfits. On June 29, the legend made her Wimbledon 2026 debut in custom tennis whites inspired by traditional Japanese ceremonial dress.

Before the first round Ladies Singles match, Osaka's grand entrance showcased just how proud she is of her half-Japanese heritage. Stylist Marty Harper teamed up with Tokyo-based designer Hana Yagi on a robe inspired by a kimono's high neck and elongated, square-shaped sleeves.

“The garment is constructed from vintage shiromuku [traditional Japanese bridal garments], kimono and wedding dresses—ceremonial garments originally created to mark important moments in people’s lives," Yagi told British Vogue before the match.

Cherry blossoms and lifelike cranes were carefully embroidered onto Osaka's top layer. Then, a thick, matching obi belt gave the otherwise free-flowing wrap an elegant hourglass shape. The 28-year-old didn't feel "limited at all" by the tournament's dress code. "Obviously, the outfit has to be white, but aside from that, you can play with a lot of different design elements," Osaka told British Vogue. "In some ways, not having to think about the color allows you to highlight other cool features like fabrics and textures.”

For Yagi, the color requirement allowed her to "focus on material, transparency, construction, and silhouette instead." As a result, she didn't think twice about slipping a grass-grazing skirt—fashioned from ivory-tinted tiers of tulle—beneath Osaka's kimono. “Sometimes the strongest creative ideas emerge from the clearest constraints," she added.

To finish, she accessorized with diamond earrings and bracelets from Mikimoto, as well as a traditional kanzashi hair ornament atop her slickback bun.

Stylist Marty Harper is no newbie when it comes to Osaka's on-court style serves. He's the creative behind her "jellyfish" outfit at the 2026 Australian Open and the Kevin Germanier gown at the 2026 French Open. So, he knew time was of the essence. "Unlike a runway show, these garments exist for only a few minutes," Harper told British Vogue. “Naomi has to transition from ceremony to competition in well under a minute, so every creative decision also has to solve a technical problem.”

Osaka's custom Nike kit was hidden under her custom Hana Yogi look all along. The tennis dress's sleeveless silhouette wasn't too far a detour from her previous Wimbledon looks. It did, however, welcome 3-D cream flowers atop her neckline and hip. Pleated ivory trim along the thigh-length hem acted as another homage to her walk-on outfit. Osaka's Mikimoto diamonds stayed put during the entire match, while her kanzashi traded places with a Nike-branded visor.

For Osaka, tennis tournaments aren't just about winning, though she did advance to the second Singles match on July 1. “Every walk-out is an opportunity to bring people into my creative world," she said. She did all of that and more on day one of Wimbledon.

Yes, Osaka will return to Centre Court in white on Wednesday, but beyond that, the details surrounding her next tennis outfit remain on a need-to-know basis. However, you can trust Osaka to keep raising the style stakes all tournament long.

She wore an almost identical, baby blue version last August.
