From Kim Kardashian to Beyoncé to now Penélope Cruz, the Cher Horowitz, Clueless-inspired pink tweed look Cruz wore to Variety’s Creative Impact Awards and 10 Directors to Watch brunch is perfectly on trend. The brunch was held yesterday during the 35th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival in celebration of the most influential actors and directors working in Hollywood this past year.

Sean Penn presented Cruz with an award at the event, where he called her an “acting animal” with great “intuitiveness and an imagination,” People reports. As she accepted the award, Cruz spoke of her early passion for acting and how she first found her way into it through ballet as a child: “I feel very lucky to make a living out of acting,” she said. “I was asking the teachers to allow me to play Carmen when I was four. They called my parents. Then it was through acting. I feel so lucky. Being able to stay a student for the rest of my life, because that’s what we are.”

Cruz was honored with the Creative Impact in Acting Award for her accomplished career, and the four-time Oscar nominee was chosen for her “daring, multidimensional, and unforgettable performances,” Entertainment Tonight reports. 

“It’s actually always confusing to me because I grew up dreaming about acting,” Cruz said, per the outlet. “All that I wanted was to have a job, a profession that would be inspiring and creative. So I would pray for that, just to be able to make a living out of a job that I love. But I could never dream about extra things like this, you know, like it still feels very surprising and shocking. But I don’t want to lose that feeling, you know, like I never want to expect things like this.”

Cruz will turn 50 in April, and the actress quipped to Entertainment Tonight that she plans to live to be 100. “I’m really looking at it as the beginning of the second part of my life,” she said, joking that while she’s not “happy” with the film industry’s obsession with using AI, that it could be useful to keep her around “much longer” while she spends time with her children and future grandchildren.

Cruz—who represents Chanel—wore the brand for the event yesterday, a pink, black, and white plaid co-ord from Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2024 Ready to Wear collection featuring an asymmetric skirt and a textured trim. The look channeled Clueless’ Cher Horowitz and, driving home the 1990s theme, she wore a black tube top underneath her jacket and Mary Jane peep-toe heels similar to Cher’s white pair—knee-high socks not included. She also carried a black quilted Chanel purse for the occasion. 

“This has been my passion since I was a little girl,” Cruz said as she accepted her award. “When I get an award for doing what I love the most, it feels very confusing and shocking. I used to pray every night when I was a little girl, ‘Please, God, don’t lock me in an office.’ I thought, if I cannot release everything that is going on here, I know I would lose my mind.”

That same day, Cruz wore a completely different look to a SAG-AFTRA screening of her new film Ferrari, where she swapped the soft pink look for an edgier choice: wide-leg denim jeans, a black button-up blouse, and a leaf-patterned leather jacket by—you guessed it—Chanel. The jacket featured dramatic lapels and double-breasted buttons.

Cruz said it herself—she’s just getting started. What’s next? Cruz said, per Variety, that she’d love to do a superhero movie someday: “If it’s something interesting, why not?” she said. “It’s fun. As you could imagine, that’s what my kids ask me sometimes, ‘Are you ever going to do that, mom?’ Because I’ve done so much drama and so many films I can’t show to them yet.” And, while Cruz said she’s had “conversations here and there” about appearing in a superhero movie, it’s “nothing specific that will happen soon,” she said. What probably is happening soon is a musical; Cruz told the outlet that she’s probably going to start filming one any day now. “I’m going to do one soon, I think,” she said. “I was very fortunate to do Nine with Rob Marshall. I had an incredible time. it forced me to go back to dancing to five hours a day. We’re planning something that makes me very happy.” 

It’s high praise from the Queen of Hollywood: as Barbie potentially begins its awards season sweep with tomorrow’s Golden Globes, Meryl Streep is praising the film, saying it “saved the movies last summer and all of our jobs,” Variety reports.

Her comments harkened back to Steven Spielberg’s comments last year, when he thanked Tom Cruise for saving the movie business with Top Gun: Maverick (Spielberg told Cruise “You saved Hollywood’s ass, and you might have saved theatrical distribution. Seriously, Top Gun: Maverick might have saved the entire theatrical industry”). Streep said at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards that the 2023 savior film is Barbie, which was the highest-grossing movie of the year with a staggering $1.4 billion in ticket sales (it’s also the highest-grossing Warner Bros. film of all time). 

Streep took the stage at the awards after Billie Eilish and Finneas accepted an award for their work on the Barbie soundtrack. “I just want to say to Billie and Finneas that you have delivered the Barbie love bomb,” Streep said. “You’ve saved the movies last summer and all of our jobs. You’ve delivered joy to countless generations and genders of people, and you should surf that wave, kids, until you’re old and deserve to be jaded like me.”

Barbie is currently nominated for nine Golden Globes and also received a record-breaking 18 Critics' Choice Award nominations, Variety reports. The Barbie soundtrack earned 12 Grammy nominations and the original songs “What Was I Made For?” “Dance the Night,” and “I’m Just Ken” are on the shortlist to be nominated for the Oscar for Best Original Song. Despite the overwhelming success, Margot Robbie—who plays the titular role in the film—is skeptical about there ever being a Barbie 2. 

“It’s funny, that knee-jerk reaction in this day and age for everyone to immediately ask about a sequel,” she told Variety. “I don’t think it was like that 20 years ago. This wasn’t designed to be a trilogy…I don’t know what more could even look like. We want to make more films that have the effect that Barbie has. I don’t know if it has to be Barbie 2. Why can’t it be another big, original, bold idea where we get an amazing filmmaker, a big budget to play with, and the trust of a huge conglomerate behind them to go and really play? I want to do that.”

And, if Robbie has it her way, she’ll be that amazing filmmaker—the actress and producer told Variety that she wants to direct, and that her experience working with directors is why she wants to do it herself. “As an actor, I get to work with so many brilliant directors and watch them do it—it’s like having a front row seat to the best masterclass in the world,” she said. “So it’s really tempting to keep doing that. But directing is a dear ambition of mine.”

It might not happen immediately, though. She previously told Variety in 2022 that directing was “not something I’m in a rush to do,” as she was fulfilled with acting. “I love so much that, as an actor, I get to see how so many other directors work and how they do it,” she said. “And it’s so helpful.” 

In the new Variety interview, Robbie said that her plate was full of producing jobs that kept her busy. “The tricky thing is, as much as I say I’m strict about saying no as a producer, I also get so excited with all the things that I could produce that it ends up taking up all my time,” she said.

Halle Berry wore a true piece of art on the red carpet at the 2023 Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a marvel of haute couture by Elie Saab from the designer’s Fall 2023 collection. The completely see-through mesh bodice was stitched all over with intricate embroidered designs in sparking gold, silver, and black sequins, extending from the high turtleneck and pointed shoulder pads to the voluminous floor-grazing skirt, Harper’s Bazaar reports. In a word? Breathtaking.

Berry has a deep history with Elie Saab: she wore the brand to the 2002 Academy Awards ceremony, where she made history as the first—and, to date, only—Black woman to win an Oscar in the Best Actress category. That gown was another semi-sheer look, consisting of a maroon mesh bodice embroidered with brown floral and green leaf appliqués. “The bodice extended into a column maxi skirt and attached train made out of crimson taffeta,” Harper’s Bazaar writes.

Next up for Berry professionally is the upcoming film Maude v. Maude, a spy thriller which she costars in and coproduces with Angelina Jolie. Speaking to Variety at the festival, Berry revealed that she and Jolie “had a rocky start” working on the project: “I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together,” she said of the film, where she battles Jolie “physically and intellectually” on the big screen.

The two stars were able to work past their issues. “We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes,” Berry said. “We bonded, let’s say that.”

Berry was in Saudi Arabia not just for the festival but also to scout locations to shoot Maude v. Maude. “For us, it is about going places that have never been shown onscreen before,” she said. “We plan on going all around the world.”

She further opened up to Deadline about the forthcoming movie, which she said satisfies a craving to mix action and comedy. “I’m just thrilled to just work with another woman and craft a story from our sensibility, from our point of view,” Berry said. “So many times we’re characterized in movies, and the writers are usually men, so we’re portrayed from their perspective. And so there’s a female director, Angelina and I are there, and we can tell a story from our point of view.” 

Gwyneth Paltrow was in a can’t-miss-it shade of yellow while attending the 2023 Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where she wore the vibrant hue to the festival’s closing ceremony. The sarong gown—from Carolina Herrera’s Resort 2024 collection—“included shirred puff sleeves, which had a ruching effect that gathered at the oversized belted bow at her waist,” People reports. “The dress featured a modest boat neckline and a thigh-high slit at the center of the dress.”

She accessorized the look with a pair of yellow opened-toe platform heels and a pair of diamond and gold drop earrings.

During a discussion at the festival, Paltrow shared with “In Conversation” moderator Jomana Al-Rashid that her mother, Blythe Danner, played an integral role in how she perceived acting early on: “My mother is an actress,” Paltrow said, per Variety. “She did mostly theater. And so I grew up as a little girl watching her rehearse plays and running around the theater. My mother would even say she always felt a bit insecure. When she was onstage, she was the most powerful, integrated force of nature that I have ever seen. And so I wanted to be that.”

Paltrow was joined by several more luminaries at the Red Sea International Film Festival, including Halle Berry, Naomi Campbell, Sofia Vergara, and Michelle Williams. Paltrow’s appearance followed her standout Valentino moment earlier in the week at the 2023 Fashion Awards in London.

The oversized and broad-shoulder blazer coat made waves on the runway for Spring 2024 with Maison Margiela, Balenciaga, and Givenchy all showcasing their takes on the huge silhouette. In short, the cocoon coat is sticking around for yet another season.

The 20th Marrakech International Film Festival is in full swing, and celebrities certainly packed their best outfits for Morocco. The festival opened Friday by showcasing an action-comedy, Richard Linklater's Hit-Man. Though Queen Elizabeth passed away on September 8, 2022—and there has already been a Remembrance Day since her death—grief never fully goes away, and the Princess of Wales continues to subtly honor her grandmother-in-law through her choice of jewelry. (Kate also honors her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, in the same way.) At a Remembrance event yesterday, Kate paid homage to Her late Majesty and wore a triple-strand pearl necklace that appeared to be from the late Queen’s jewelry collection. She paired the piece with a black dress and a traditional red poppy pin (worn in honor of those who have died in war) while at Royal Albert Hall in London for the Festival of Remembrance.

Us Weekly reports that “Pearls were a favorite of Elizabeth’s, who received a triple strand from her father, King George VI, for his Coronation. The late king also gave Elizabeth a pearl every year for her birthday so that she had an elegant necklace by the time she turned 18.”

The necklace Kate chose for yesterday’s event appears to be the same one she wore at a lunch with Commonwealth leaders at Buckingham Palace two days before Her late Majesty’s state funeral in September 2022, the outlet reports.

Pearls are traditionally considered mourning jewelry, which was appropriate both for the mourning period surrounding the late Queen’s death in September 2022 and yesterday’s Festival of Remembrance. The Festival of Remembrance is an annual commemorative concert dedicated to all those who have lost their lives in conflict, Us Weekly reports, and Remembrance Day honors those who died while in the armed forces. 

In addition to the pearl necklace, Kate also wore Her late Majesty’s diamond and pearl earrings, People reports. Last year at the Festival of Remembrance, Kate also wore Queen Elizabeth’s jewelry, though different pieces: she wore Bahrain pearl drop earrings and a four-strand pearl choker with a diamond in the center, which she had worn to the late Queen’s state funeral and committal service two months prior. She also wore the same choker and earrings combination for the funeral of Prince Philip in 2021.

“Pearls are one of the very few jewelry items you can wear in mourning and are inextricably linked with Queen Elizabeth and her personal jewelry legacy,” said Bethan Holt, author of The Queen: 70 Years of Majestic Style. “It’s a symbol of mourning a monarch but also a grandmother or great-grandmother.”

It was Queen Victoria who began the tradition of wearing pearls in mourning, one she established after the death of her husband, Prince Albert, in 1861. After his death, “she wore black until the day she died,” People reports. “Queen Victoria accessorized with colorless jewelry, often pearls, which she loved and thought more appropriately discreet and respectful than sapphires, rubies, or other colored gemstones.” 

Today, on Remembrance Sunday, Kate stood on the balcony of the Foreign Office overlooking the Cenotaph, where wreaths were laid by King Charles and Prince William. For the occasion, Kate simultaneously wore a re-wear (one of her black military style coats from Catherine Walker and a Philip Treacy hat) with never-been-seen-before earrings. Hello reports that the earrings were “from the same demi-parure of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond and Pearl Leaf brooch,” the outlet writes. “It’s never been seen in public before and was a touching tribute to the late monarch.”

Body language expert Judi James said, per The Mirror, that Kate appeared to be “making a very important and powerful homage to the late Queen.” She added, “The pearls don’t look like Kate’s usual personal style, but they are the ones worn by the late Queen as a signature statement piece that is immediately associated with her.” James also said that Kate was “sweetly bashful” with William, with “the intense puckering around his mouth forming a suppressed and rather boyish smile, while Kate is almost hiding behind her newly layered hair.”

The message with Kate’s accessories went far deeper than just pieces of jewelry: “The combination of Kate and the late Queen’s pearls make a very powerful message of continuity and combined forces here as she stands to the front of the royal party with her head held up and a very solemn facial expression, while William clasps his hands in front of his torso and tilts his head in an expression of silent sympathy and regret,” James said. “Kate’s pose and the symbolic pearls here make her look like the late Queen’s appointed her as future Queen and female head of the Firm.”

A source speaking to Us Weekly said that, while Kate continues to mourn the loss of the late Queen, she “wants people to see her as a strong leader, someone who’s capable of taking the title of Queen into a new generation.” 

Amal Clooney and husband George arrived at the Hotel Cipriani in Venice today, color coordinated in navy and white looks and holding hands. They arrived in the Italian city ahead of Amal’s recognition as a winner of the Diane von Furstenberg leadership award for her global work for victims of human rights abuse; the 14th Annual DVF Awards will be held on Thursday.

Amal wore a sleeveless white shift dress stitched with floral outlines in navy and paired the dress with slingback Roger Vivier heels. Clooney wore a navy polo with light blue and white pinstriped pants and tan suede loafers, per People. Both wore sunglasses and held hands as they arrived in the city where they married back in 2014. 

The Clooneys—who share six-year-old twins Ella and Alexander—have a home a little over 200 miles away on Lake Como and are familiar visitors to the area. Amal is an accomplished attorney and, with George, cofounded the Clooney Foundation for Justice in 2016. In March, Amal opened up about her marriage as part of her Women of the Year profile for TIME: “Marriage has been wonderful,” she said. “I have in my husband a partner who is incredibly inspirational and supportive, and we have a home filled with love and laughter. It is a joy beyond anything I could ever have imagined. I feel so lucky to have found a great love in my life, and to be a mother—this is how I get my balance.”  

The feeling is certainly mutual from her husband, who told People in December 2020 how fortunate he felt to be with her: “I feel very lucky in so many ways to have met her,” he said. “We haven’t ever had an argument. You know, everybody’s been slammed together because of the coronavirus and a lot of friends’ relationships have been tested. For us, it’s been really easy.” George praised Amal, specifically for how she “succeeds in so many different ways and stands up for what she believes in,” he said.

“We didn’t fall in love because of our work, but it ended up being something unusual we [share],” George said. “We are really lucky, and we know it.”

In addition to the DVF Awards, Page Six reports the Clooneys are also in town for the 80th Venice International Film Festival, which will feature the movie The Boys in the Boat, directed by George.

Perhaps the most surprising news that has emerged from the Princess of Wales’ summer break is that she attended a 24-hour music festival alongside Rose Hanbury (we have to admit—we were not expecting that, but are totally here for it). Everyone deserves to let their hair down now and again—and this includes future queens—and Catherine did so while dressed casually and sipping a relatable drink: spicy margaritas.

Catherine attended the Houghton Music Festival alongside friends and, The London Evening Standard reports, skipped the festival’s food trucks in favor of Turntable & Napkin, a restaurant on the grounds. A source told the outlet that Catherine “was in high spirits, ordering spicy margaritas, eating affogato [an Italian coffee-based dessert], and speaking affably with other members of her party.”

While Catherine ordered drinks from the restaurant, her friends went BYOB and left a huge tip. “Her companions apparently carted in a huge, balthazar-sized bottle of AIX rosé and, together with Kate, left the festival restaurant staff a £700 tip,” the outlet reports. (What is a balthazar-sized bottle? The Daily Mail reports it’s a 12-liter bottle that costs about £500 from a wine shop.)

At the show, per Hello, Catherine wore an off-the-shoulder long-sleeved black top and black jeans, topped off with her Veja sneakers and gold chandelier earrings. Per the outlet, one fan wrote of Catherine “She may be a Princess but she’s still a girl who loves a good margarita!” Another fan added “Love the off the shoulder look!!!”

As we previously reported, Prince William didn’t attend the festival with Catherine; The Mirror reports that he might have been on a grouse-shooting trip at the time. Catherine was attending a dinner party hosted by the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, otherwise known as Rose and her husband, David, at their home, Houghton Hall, not far from William and Catherine’s country home in Norfolk, Anmer Hall. Though she was originally nervous to go—it was, after all, the first time she’d ever been to such an event—Catherine was eventually persuaded to come out and enjoy the Houghton Festival, billed as Britain’s only 24-hour music festival. (This year, over 200 artists performed across 13 stages, with music playing somewhere on the Houghton Estate at all times from Thursday to Sunday. Over 12,000 were expected to be in attendance.) “After dinner, one of the guests suggested that Catherine go to the festival,” a source told The Daily Mail. “Catherine was nervous about the idea but, after much discussion with her protection officers, she went with lots of security. William wasn’t there.”

Writing in The Telegraph, Ed Cummings—who has attended the festival previously—said the event is full of “ex-SAS goons, gurning public schoolboys, and untz-untz music.” He said that Catherine would have been “practically the least posh person there” (really?) and added she “would have fit in perfectly.”

“Over the repetitive thud of the music you could hear a happy hum of well-spoken men and women, in the mandatory upper-middle class festival outfit of Uniqlo bum-bag and Nike Air Force trainers, bumping into Cecily and Hugo who they hadn’t seen since prep school,” Cummings writes. He added that Catherine should be praised for attending the festival: “Whether Kate’s presence raised or lowered the social standing of the event, she ought to be commended for proving that even a future queen can decide to go out after dinner, and in so doing support her friends and the U.K. hospitality industry. All hail the Princess of Raves.”

If you want to make your own spicy margarita this weekend a la Catherine—whether you are attending a rave or not—The Daily Express has a recipe to try:

Ingredients

150ml tequila

75ml triple sec

25ml chili syrup (see below)

25ml mango juice

25ml lime juice

Handful of ice

For the chili syrup

One sliced red chili

50g golden caster sugar

For the salt rim

A small handful of coriander

Half a lime zest

Two tsp sea salt flakes

Two tsp golden caster sugar

Half tsp chipotle chili flakes

Instructions

Make the chili syrup first. Put 50ml of water, the sugar, and the thinly sliced chilis in a saucepan.

Over low to medium heat, bring the solution to a simmer while stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Turn off the heat and allow it to finish cooling.

Combine all the ingredients for the salt rim garnish before spooning it out onto a small plate.

Four tumblers’ rims should be lightly wetted before being dipped in the salt-chili mixture. Set the glasses aside while you prepare the margarita.

Pour all the components for the drink into a large cocktail shaker or blender and shake until the outside feels chilly.

You may also pulse the ingredients together twice or three times to blend them. The drink should be chilled, aerated, and diluted.

However, the ice should not be totally broken down. Ice cubes should be added to both the prepared tumblers and a big jug.

After straining the cocktail into the jug, give it a good swirl before transferring it into the tumblers.

Well, this is nothing short of unexpected: Multiple outlets report that, while on summer break (as she remains), the Princess of Wales reunited with old friend Rose Hanbury (yes, that Rose Hanbury, of the unfounded cheating rumors with Catherine’s husband, Prince William) and went to an all-night music festival with her. Okay, what?

After being persuaded by friends at a dinner party—and though she was nervous to go—Catherine apparently went in secret to an upper-class, 24-hour rave at Hanbury’s estate in Norfolk, the first time she’d ever gone to such an event.

The idea apparently originated at Hanbury’s home, Houghton Hall, over dinner with the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, Rose and her husband, David. (They are neighbors of William and Catherine when they are at their beloved country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.) At the time of said dinner, the Houghton Festival was taking place on the Marquess and Marchioness’ 1,000-acre estate. “After dinner, one of the guests suggested that Catherine go to the festival,” a source told The Daily Mail. “Catherine was nervous about the idea, but, after much discussion with her protection officers, she went with lots of security. William wasn’t there.”

The Houghton Festival is billed as Britain’s only 24-hour music festival and was launched in 2017. This year, over 200 artists performed across 13 stages, with music playing somewhere on the Houghton Estate at all times from Thursday to Sunday. The Daily Mail reports over 12,000 were expected to attend.

The music festival wasn’t the first time Catherine has been to the estate—in 2018, Catherine attended the Houghton Horse Trials with two of her three children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Hello reports. The estate is nearby Anmer Hall, which William previously said was a place where “we spend as much time as we can here. It’s very peaceful.” 

The festival is the brainchild of DJ Craig Richards and is described by organizers as a “celebration of art and music in the Norfolk countryside.” Richards has previously said, per The Mirror, that one of his favorite parts about the festival is that there is no cell signal.

“Different levels of fantasy and freedom come with not having a phone,” he said. “We’re all on those things so much, and while it’s an absolute drama for us not to have phones in there while we’re building and preparing, it’s one of the greatest happy accidents of the festival. People leave the festival having not interacted with their phone. I mean, possibly not even to use it as a camera. If you remove phones from the dance floor and from the campsite, you really are in a much more liberated environment.”

Former Victoria's Secret Angel and current supermodel Elsa Hosk has done right by fashion with one of her latest Cannes Film Festival outfits—at least if you ask me.

Hosk showed up to a screening of La Passion De Dodin Bouffant in a completely bonkers gown from Viktor & Rolf's spring/summer 2023 collection, incredibly titled "Late Stage Capitalism Waltz," and described as "an absurd take on a stereotypical couture ballgown for the 21st century."

The dress in question featured a light pink skintight bodice (which approximated Hosk's skin tone, giving it a nude look as well), adorned with a full-size baby blue tulle ballgown, the bodice of which veers off to the side of the model's own bust. Please pardon my poor description and see this piece for yourself:

Hosk's look was styled by Dani Michelle, while her baby doll makeup look came courtesy of Hung Vanngo, and her retro blonde bob was styled by Danielle Priano.

Writing about the dress on Instagram, the Victoria's Secret alum said, "Deeply honored to wear my favorite couture piece (for the first time on a red carpet) from the most brilliant ballgown collection by @viktorandrolf

"when I saw this dress coming down their runway I was blown away by how when spinning and moving, the dress would look so surreal and beautiful and even ugly at times and not only was it breathtaking to me but also reminded me to not take fashion too seriously.

"I know it had to be this dress. It was like a deconstructed rock and roll version of the very first dress I wore in cannes and I just loved. Bravo team, thank you for having me Cannes , thank you to everyone who inspire with their own style and peoples creations"

Hosk's model friends approved of her fashion choices. Behati Prinsloo wrote, "SLAYED," Martha Hunt said, "Incredible!" and Ashley Graham commented, "Queen of Cannes!!!!" No notes.

Julia Fox has become my personal irreverent idol over the past few months thanks to a string of very unconventional outfits worn for every occasion from Paris Fashion Week to a routine grocery run. For Fox, the world is her runway.

True to herself, the Uncut Gems actress showed up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Art of Elysium during the Cannes Film Festival in a truly surprising outfit (though you'd think she could hold no further surprises, the star has always got something up her sleeve).

Fox looked genuinely stunning in what was—let's face it—quite an odd outfit choice. She paired a translucent, nipple-baring, halter-style breast plate top with a red carpet-ready skirt, a puffy white creation that fanned out into a long train.

One Twitter user expressed my exact thoughts when they quipped, "JULIA FOX INVENTED MOTHERHOOD"

BTW, this isn't the first time Fox has freed the nipple: She wore another eyebrow-raising look at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year.

For this look, Fox let the clothes speak for themselves and swapped her statement-making over-the-top eyeliner look from yesteryear for a more classic, glamorous beauty look. She rocked a subtle smoky eye, chiseled cheekbones, and a dark red lipstick, with her hair elegantly gathered into a top knot.

Since the event was hosted by global luxury jewelry brand MARLI New York, the Forbidden Fruits podcast host finished the look with a selection of glitzy pieces.

She wore the Cleo Full Diamond Drop Collar Channel Set Diamond Necklace (which retails at $35,000), the Cleo Full Diamond Drop Earrings ($9,000), plus a ring and bracelet adorned with matching white gold and white diamonds.

The event fundraised $250,000 for The Art of Elysium, an NGO which organizes volunteer artists to design creative programs for communities in Los Angeles dealing with challenging life situations.

If there's one thing that's always true about Jennifer Lawrence, it's that she's gonna do her own thing.

That's why while attending the Cannes Film Festival this year, the Silver Linings Playbook star paired her very Cannes-appropriate red-carpet gown with—ahem—slightly less Cannes-appropriate flip-flops. And not, like, designer flip-flops or fancy wedged flip-flops or anything like that, either: just the most basic black rubber flip-flops you could possibly imagine.

Amid the sea of stilettos at the prestigious event, it's hard to deny that this was total legend behavior on Lawrence's part—but as you may have already deduced, the actress probably wasn't just doing it for the LOLs.

Of course, attending Cannes involves going up and down some very iconic but equally dangerous-looking stairs, and doing so in both a ball gown and high heels could go very wrong for attendees. Ergo: Lawrence was putting safety first here, though I'm convinced she also wasn't particularly unhappy about shirking convention.

One Twitter user put it best when they said, "Jennifer Lawrence wearing flip flops to Cannes is very Jennifer Lawrence"

Anywho, flip-flops aside, the actress—who was attending the Anatomie D'une Chute (Anatomy Of A Fall) red carpet event—looked absolutely stunning in a structural red gown by Dior, chosen with stylist Jamie Mizrahi.

Her fresh-faced makeup look came courtesy of Hung Vanngo, who also works with the likes of Julianne Moore, Selena Gomez and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Last but not least, Lawrence's straight but movement-filled hair look on the day was the work of Jennifer Yepez, who also works with Salma Hayek, Blake Lively, Katie Holmes and many more.

The result, as expected, was nothing short of perfection.

If Anne hath 'a way, Princess Diaries 3 would happen a lot faster.

It was reported back in November that a sequel to the cult teen movie is in fact happening, though at the time lead Anne Hathaway wasn't confirmed as having a contract for it. However, a source told The Hollywood Reporter back then, "the hope is she would return should the potential new film move forward beyond the script stage."

Now it's certainly looking like Hathaway will in fact be back (besides, she's been super open about being on board for it in the past).

During the Sundance Film Festival, Hathaway told People that it was "thrilling" to "see the level of excitement for [the sequel]."

She continued, "We feel the exact same, and I know it's probably very frustrating. It's a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now, because this is how long it actually takes to make things."

As a reminder, the last instalment in the series, Princess Diaries 2, came out in 2004.

The actress is at Sundance to promote Eileen, a period psychological thriller. Speaking about the film at a Q&A session, Hathaway said, "I thought it was an extraordinary work. I saw a study of female complication that hit me really, really deep, and I felt like Will [Oldroyd] was a filmmaker that could be trusted to tell complicated stories, especially about females" (via Variety).

Also, incredibly, Hathaway wore a literal puffer coat on the red carpet and still looked wildly glamorous. She eventually took it off to reveal a stunning little black dress by Versace, but still. How does she do it?

The Don't Worry Darling drama is easily my favorite celebrity news saga of the year, and it just keeps. On. Giving. Here's the latest.

You may have heard of a little incident called "Harry Styles allegedly spitting in Chris Pine's lap at the Venice Film Festival," but either way, here's a little chronological reminder.

Amid alllll the rumors circulating around the release of Don't Worry Darling (on-set feuds, contradicting messages, a Holivia breakup), people were obviously scrutinizing the unfolding of the movie's press stop in Venice, and there was A LOT to see.

But, for obvious reasons, SpitGate was the crux of it all: A video has been circulating of Harry Styles taking his seat next to Chris Pine during the festival, in which the One Direction alum appeared to spit in Pine's lap. In the footage, both Pine and Olivia Wilde next to him looked pretty stunned.

It's worth noting that another video surfaced, taken from another angle, which appears to prove that Styles' face was way too far away from Pine's lap to have been able to spit in it, according to the laws of physics.

A rep for the Star Trek actor quickly shut down the rumors, stating, "Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist."

But this shut-down doesn't mean that the jokes have slowed down, and famous jokester Styles himself got in on the fun.

Playing a show in the U.S., the singer said, "It's wonderful to be back in New York. I just popped very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine."

The clip was shared widely on TikTok and naturally, fans were obsessed. As am I. As am I.

Of course, you've heard of the Cannes Film Festival. Yet, the Venice Film festival pre-dated its French film counterpart, with its inaugural festival taking place at the Excelsior hotel in Venice, Italy, in the year 1932. The festival put the area on the map as an internationally acclaimed city for glamorous events, movie stars, and a robust arts and culture scene.

Today, Venice and the Venice Film Festival remain one of film and fashion's most star-studded events. Celebrity stylists like Alexandra Imgruth say that although The Met Gala and The Oscars are some of the most talked about events in the fashion sphere—at International film festivals, attendees take more creative liberties with their looks—even with the black tie requirements.

Sometimes, a red-carpet look comes along that causes our collective jaws to hit the floor. I believe Cate Blanchett has offered us such a moment with her recent appearance at the Venice Film Festival 2022.

The actress showed up in a black velvet corset by Schiaparelli, strapless and embellished with hand-painted flowers (unclear if they are real or not, but there seems to be no indication that they're not?). These flowers came in vibrant oranges and purples, for a look that proves that florals can in fact be groundbreaking regardless of the season, thank you very much.

Blanchett matched the corset with wide-legged black velvet pants. She dressed down the look by wearing her blonde bob down and lightly waved, with simple drop earrings and elegant makeup in shades of low-key pink.

Talk about star power is all I have to say about that.

Blanchett is in Venice to promote Tár, an upcoming film she stars in as Lydia Tár, "widely considered one of the greatest living composer/conductors and first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra," according to IMDb.

It looks like this movie is going to be a big one for Blanchett and for cinema lovers, with Variety reporting that it received a six-minute standing ovation at the Italian festival, and that we can pretty much expect the feature to receive a bunch of Oscar noms (it's that time of year, after all).

Blanchett has previously won two Oscars, one in 2005 for The Aviator, and one in 2014 for Blue Jasmine. She has been nominated a further four times.

Princess Beatrice isn't going to let such a small detail as "being a royal" stop her from having fun, OK?

She and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi lived it up over the weekend at England's most legendary music festival, Glastonbury, which is world-famous for both its legendary lineups and for its enviable fashion moments.

Beatrice didn't go for a Coachella-ready dazzling 'fit while attending the festival on Sunday, but she did go for a very cute, very casual, and decently affordable ensemble that you can copy for your festival dressing needs, should you wish to.

In photos published by the Daily Mail, Beatrice can be seen enjoying some festival food in a cardboard container. She's rocking a denim shirt dress by River Island, a black bomber jacket by H&M, a black Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC purse, and white sneakers by Thousand Fell. You can shop her look below.

The Mapelli Mozzis were also spotted enjoying some musical events on Saturday at Glastonbury, when the princess wore an olive green button-up jacket dress paired with the same Rebecca Minkoff handbag.

Beatrice has established herself as something of a force in fashion in recent months, most notably when she attended the Alice + Olivia London flagship store opening in a white tweed ensemble from the label.

She also stunned in a blue and white floral dress from Reformation at the Chelsea Flower Show last month. Can't wait to see what looks she comes up with next!

The outbreak of World War II forced the cancelation of the inaugural Cannes Film Festival, meant to take place in 1939 on the French Riviera as an alternative to the Venice Film Festival. In September of 1946, seven years after ideation, the Cannes Film Festival finally rolled out its red carpet with 18 countries attending, including the United States and their premiere Cannes Film Festival candidate, The Wizard of Oz. Today, 89 countries attend the annual May festival, and while the films are a main attraction of the event, so are the fashions. This year's event— taking place through May 28—will include not just movies but dinners and parties with A-list attendees like Anne Hathaway and Julianne Moore. Like the Oscars and the Met Gala, those in attendance put their best fashion foot forward, donning custom designs and haute couture.

Stylist Alexandra Imgruth, dressing French actress Léa Seydoux for this year's film festival (you might recognize her from the 2011 movie Midnight in Paris), weighs in on what it takes to get red carpet ready. "Léa and I began discussing ideas for Cannes during the BAFTA's back in March—even though film nominations don't get announced until April. It's good to have ample time," she explains. "We knew we wanted to do something different from our most recent looks—a bit more European," she says. The event's dress code is strictly black tie, even for paparazzi in attendance. Still, Imgruth feels, given the International attendance of the festival, that people take more creative liberties with their looks.

Imgruth's favorite past Cannes Film Festival ensembles include Sophia Loren's old Hollywood glamour looks from the 1950s. Her recent best-dressed nominees include Julianne Moore in Chanel and Diane Kruger in Vivianne Westward. Prince William and Kate Middleton weren’t the only ones to see Top Gun: Maverick this week—the Cambridges stepped out in London to see the new Tom Cruise movie last night, but earlier in the week, Princess Diana’s twin nieces took in the film at the Cannes Film Festival, 35 years after their aunt made her own Cannes debut.

Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza—twin daughters of Diana’s younger brother, Charles Spencer—wore coordinated black gowns on the red carpet on Wednesday night, following in the footsteps of Diana, who attended the event herself in 1987.

The late Princess of Wales walked the famous Cannes red carpet when she was 26 years old, attending a gala night honoring actor Sir Alec Guinness alongside then-husband Prince Charles, according to PEOPLE. The princess turned heads in a powder blue Catherine Walker strapless gown paired with a matching scarf that flowed behind her. (Diana wore ample Catherine Walker throughout her royal life, and, today, her daughter-in-law Kate Middleton frequently wears the brand.)

Amelia and Eliza were just five years old when Diana died in 1997.

“We always just knew her as our aunt,” Eliza told Tatler, via PEOPLE. “Growing up in South Africa, I really had very little idea of how significant she was in the world until I was much older.”

That said, the twins shared a special connection with their aunt, who never had daughters of her own. Eliza said Diana was “incredibly warm, maternal, and loving. She always made an effort to connect with us as children and had a talent for reading children’s hearts.”

Eliza remembered the ever-intrusive photographers that surrounded her aunt, including one who approached Diana during a beach outing.

“Obviously it could have been quite terrifying for us, being so young and not understanding what was happening,” she said. “But she turned it into a game of who could get back to the car first. It was amazing how she protected us in a way that made us feel safe and not frightened. We had no idea what she was doing at the time.”

Because Diana died when the twins were only five years old, “as a child, I realized the enormity of the loss for my father and family,” Eliza said. (Her father spoke memorably at his sister’s funeral at Westminster Abbey.) “It was only later that I came to understand the significance of the loss of her as a figure in the world.”

Alert: Bennifer just made their first red carpet appearance in 18 years (!) at the Venice Film Festival for the The Last Duel premiere. The last time they were on a red carpet together was at the premiere of their movie, Gigli, in July 2003. How times have changed!

Lopez wore a Georges Hobeika gown with Jimmy Choo heels and Affleck wore a black tuxedo. In true Bennifer fashion, there was a lot of PDA, deep stares...you know, the usual. See the photos of them on the red carpet, below.

Kristen Stewart was in Venice for the premiere of Spencer, the much-anticipated new movie in which she plays Princess Diana (and which we couldn’t be any more excited about). And judging by the early reviews, it sounds like this movie is going to be everything we’d hoped it would. One critic who was lucky enough to see the film before all of us got to called it “magnificent,” while another reviewer called Stewart’s portrayal of the beloved royal was “bracing, bitter, moving, and altogether stunning.”

If Venice is any indication, Spencer will more than live up to its buzz. And now there’s even video, of Stewart receiving a standing ovation after the festival screening. Wearing an adorable mint green frock-and-pants combo, she takes her seat to wild applause from the crowd and even looks like she’s trying to stop herself from crying at one point:

Is anyone else getting a little emotional watching that? After all, at just 31, Stewart has had a long and varied career in Hollywood—like, this is the same girl who was in Twilight? The range! Now it looks like she’s finally getting the Oscar-worthy performance she deserves.

We've been worshipping at the alter of Andie MacDowell's waves for decades—I mean, Four Weddings and a Funeral, anyone?—but the actress has taken her color next level in 2021. The 63-year-old L'Oréal Paris ambassador walked the 2021 Cannes Film Festival red carpet with new cascading, salt-and-pepper-hued curls.

After growing out her grays during the pandemic lockdown thanks to the chiding of her daughters, MacDowell has fully leaned into embracing her natural hue. Draped in embellished pastel numbers by Prada and Versace Atelier, the Hollywood hair muse rocked her curls two ways: on opening night, a side part with major volume, and then pulled into an elegant, wispy low ponytail.

MacDowell isn't the only Hollywood visitor rocking more natural, pale strands during this year's festival: Jodie Foster's face-framing gray streaks are a master class in how to grow out your grays and make them work for your style, while Dame Helen Mirren humbled us all—as per usual—with a white, high bun.

Summer of scam? That's so 2018. In her upcoming book, journalist Gabrielle Bluestone makes a case for the "golden age of grift," arguing that con artists like the infamous Anna Delvey or disgraced CEOs like Theranos' Elizabeth Holmes are not isolated incidents but, in fact, a shift in culture that continues to make unwitting suckers of us all.

Through the lens of Billy McFarland's failure of a music festival (Bluestone had unfettered access thanks to her Emmy-nominated work as a producer on Netflix's documentary Fyre) and interviews with questionable online personalities like Danielle Bernstein of @weworewhat, the book aims to discover why fraud seems to be more feasible than ever. "The more I looked into it, the more I realized I had found the perfect case study of how social media scams work—and the ways we, as consumers, have been enabling it," Bluestone says in press notes provided to Marie Claire. "So I started digging deeper and soon found a whole world of Internet grift that has seeped into every part of our lives."

On November 19, 2016, McFarland flew out a team of Fyre employees and investors, including Fyre’s chief talent officer, Ian Browne, talent booker Samuel Krost, head of marketing Grant Margolin, and investor John Bryant, to the Bahamas. Joining them aboard the private jet, tail number N827TV, with a minifridge full of specially requested fro­zen Snickers bars, were the former football player Jason Bell, and the models Alyssah Ali, Chanel Iman, Nadine Leopold, Daniela Lopez, and Shanina Shaik. The trip was memorial­ized in an infamous Mannequin Challenge video Shaik posted on Instagram.

“They would fly to the Bahamas every single weekend in private planes with models. Every weekend that I was trying to get in, he was like, ‘Sorry, I’ve been to the Bahamas, we flew out,’” a former publicist recalled. “They were bring­ing girls and bling and renting yachts for at least six months doing all that promo.”

“Meanwhile you’ve got Billy McFarland, who has rented this massive, 10,000-square-foot house that cost $50,000 a week, and he’s chartered a plane that’s going back and forth from Miami so that he can hook up with influencers,” whis­tleblower Calvin Wells added.

The shoot had actually cost quite a bit more than $2 mil­lion, given all the sunken costs. For example, before the IMG models were confirmed for the infamous commercial, the Fyre team had booked a group of less-known women from a trio of second-tier agencies to appear as spokespeople. But no sooner had those models landed in the Bahamas than they learned their services were no longer required.

“They shuttled off all those girls to a neighboring island, where they felt very unsafe and totally ignored, and they wined and dined all the super A-list models that they got. And then they didn’t pay the modeling agency,” said a source with knowledge of the shoot. “They felt extremely betrayed by Billy, because he treated the girls so badly, you know? It was kind of a personal relationship, and he just very quickly forgot about that and then concentrated on the big girls. They were shuttled off to a neighboring island where accommo­dations were really bad. They said that there were no locks on the doors. They had nothing to do, and they heard that the other girls were being entertained on the big yachts, you know, the whole thing, and they were nothing.”

Another Fyre employee disputed some of the details, say­ing that while they weren’t ultimately used to promote the festival, most of the lesser-known models ended up having fun on the aborted shoot.

“A couple of models, one girl got offended, one cried and went home,” he said. “But the other two or three said, ‘This is the best time I’ve ever had, not really having to do work and coast in paradise.’ And they got paid.”

It was true—Fyre did eventually pay out their fees, even though they hadn’t been required to film, but only months after the contracted shoot, and only after the Wall Street Jour­nal published an article questioning the festival’s financial situation in early April 2017, according to a source familiar with the transaction.

The lower-tier models weren’t the only contracted talent for that shoot who found themselves cast aside without warning—nor were they the only ones behind the scenes demanding payment on a signed contract with the threat of a lawsuit. Re­cords show the Fyre team had also offered the DJ and You­Tube personality Chantel Jeffries $50,000 to participate in the same shoot, only to cancel her at the last minute because the IMG models apparently refused to work with talent of what they considered lesser renown, a category that apparently in­cluded Insta-famous vloggers.

“People choose people, models, influencers in a vacuum without understanding the intricacies of the modeling world, because models apparently have reputational risk…they were concerned about being involved in anything to do with some random music festival,” said a source who observed the con­tract breakdown. “And they were concerned for their higher-end IMG models’ images to be associated with, let’s just call her…a market DJ. She wasn’t like a high-fashion model. She was more like, whatever. For whatever the reason it was, they didn’t want it mixed.”

At that point, and despite their signed contract, Fyre also decided to rescind their booking of Jeffries as a festival head­liner, apparently for the same reputational reasons. In an act of generosity, however, they had at least canceled Jeffries’s contract well before she boarded a plane.

“Two days before the shoot I called Chantel’s agent and informed her that we had to cancel her involvement. I had been working with IMG and had executed contracts with eight of their biggest models from Alessandra Ambrosio to Bella Hadid,” Browne, the festival’s head of talent, recapped in one email to McFarland’s lawyer. “Accordingly, when I told the team at IMG that Chantel Jeffries would be joining the shoot, they unequivocally said that Chantel could not be part of the shoot since it would hurt all the other girls’ brands and was not a proper fit at all. Chantel is known as an Insta­gram model and is not at the same level as the Victoria Secret Models [sic]. I conveyed this to the agent and offered $10K as a breakup fee.”

In a subsequent email to Jeffries’s management, however, McFarland described the cancelation as being “due to con­tractual reasons” and offered to throw in another $5,000 to­ward her fee.

“We would love to work together again in the future, and certainly have Chantelle [sic] and your team attend as complimentary VIPs to the event this spring,” he emailed her team. “We’re happy to offer $15,000 as an apology, and would ask Chantelle [sic] post the announcement Monday on social media.”

When his offer was rejected, Fyre offered to instead pay her half her fee to DJ an after-party and promote the festival on social media—despite having just offered her a headlin­ing gig only a week prior.

Her team was duly unimpressed with Fyre’s counteroffer.

“With all due respect, your client did not terminate due to reasons outside of its control. Fyre specifically chose not to move forward with Chantel for creative reasons. It wanted to replace Chantel with other talent. That very reason is why ‘pay or play’ provisions exist. If a studio decides to replace an actor in a picture with another talent for no reason other than pursuing a new direction, it pays out the actor,” her legal team responded. “With respect to the duty to miti­gate, we have email documentation wherein Ian specifically instructed Chantel’s agent to turn down a conflicting op­portunity days before we received the actual contract from Fyre. That opportunity was long gone once Fyre decided to terminate (approximately one day before Chantel was set to travel for the shoot).”

Ultimately, after weighing the costs of attorneys’ fees that might arise in litigation, the Fyre team decided to settle with Jeffries for $45,000 in exchange for her doing…nothing. She never even posted about the festival.

“If you think about it, most of these people, high-fashion models, like Bella, they do, like, millions of dollars on these high-elevated brands. The point is, with Chantel, nobody had any knowledge of any backstory, that there would be any problem with mixing and matching people. Everybody was concerned about their own brand risk,” a source with knowl­edge of the agreement explained. “So this whole Chantel thing, this is just an example of these people as brands, and people didn’t want, let’s say, don’t put in, let’s say, a Lambo­rghini with their perception of somebody who’s more of a BMW.”

If that sounds a bit chauvinistic, sources say that’s because it absolutely was. Not only was there a constant stream of mi­sogynistic invective inside the Fyre offices, McFarland cared so little about the women in his employ that he would rou­tinely urinate with the office bathroom door wide-open—much to the consternation of his female employees.

“The amount of times they were talking about ‘fucking bitches’ in conference meetings was insane to me. It’s a boys’ club. They laughed about it. The girls felt uncomfortable. They cried a lot,” said former Fyre Media employee Nyla Coffie, who left the company well before its implosion.

But the boys had their minds on other things. The Fyre Festival Orange Tile campaign kicked off on December 12, 2016. One by one, the four hundred influencers selected and vetted by Fyre started to upload the ambiguous orange square to their Instagram feeds.

While music festivals may be out of the question this summer, virtual concerts are turning up the volume on important issues—like, the struggles and food insecurity that many are facing during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This Wednesday, May 20, CMT is hosting a concert to benefit Feed The Front Line, a dual-mission nonprofit that supports local restaurants (keeping them—and their staff— in business) and that donates meals to frontline workers and vulnerable populations affected by the COVID-19 crisis—which means you can get your country on and support a great cause by tuning into a day-long virtual music festival.

The multi-part livestream benefit concert will feature at-home performances from over 40 of country music’s best, including Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, Kelsea Ballerini, Billy Ray Cyrus, Chase Rise, Sheryl Crow, and Avril Lavigne. (If she’s taking requests, I know we’d all love a little acoustic rendition of Complicated, especially those of us quarantining in our childhood bedroom).

The event will stream on CMT’s Facebook and YouTube channel and will be split into three sessions, “breakfast” (10 a.m. ET), "lunch" (2 p.m. ET) and "dinner" (8 p.m. ET), so you can literally jam all day long, in between meetings... or instead of them (just remember to put yourself on mute!).

Feed The Front Line, a nonprofit launched in the wake of the pandemic, has already raised over $750,000 and delivered close to 50,000 meals. During the performance, viewers will be encouraged to donate to the organization—just a $12 donation purchases a meal, plus tip. Your donation has double the impact: With every purchase of a meal from a Feed the Front Line restaurant, you're helping a small business stay open and supporting their mission to deliver free meals to those who need it most. Throughout the program, viewers will get to hear from restaurants and essential workers who have been supported and fed by Feed the Front Line.

All the more reason to crack open a cold one (a White Claw will also suffice), turn it up, and tune in.

• After stepping down as a senior member of the royal family, Prince Harry had to give up his role as Captain General of the Royal Marines.
• At the Mountbatten Festival of Music, Harry told senior figures in the Marines that he was "devastated" about stepping down as Captain General, and felt he had "no choice" in the matter, according to the Sun—suggesting the royal family made him surrender his role.
• "I feel I’m letting people down," Harry reportedly said.

Today marks Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's last day as senior members of the royal family, after they announced back in January that they would step down. With Harry's departure from the royals came the loss of three of his military titles, as ITV reports: Captain General of the Royal Marines, Honorary Air Force Commandant of the Royal Air Force Base Honington, and Honorary Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Naval Commands’ Small Ships and Diving. Because military appointments are considered official royal duties, ITV explains, Harry could not hold the roles without being a working royal.

According to the Sun, Harry said he was "devastated" to lose the position of Captain General, and felt he had no say in the decision—which suggests the royal family made him give up his role. An insider at the Mountbatten Festival of Music earlier this month told the paper, "He told people he regretted having to stand down and pretty much said the decision had been forced on him."

"He was being apologetic and did not appear fully at ease," the source continued. "He is a genuine guy and you could see he was upset and emotional as this was one of the last times he would be in uniform among his men and women."

Harry reportedly told senior military figures including the head of the Royal Marines, Major General Matthew Holmes, "I am so proud to have served as the Royal Marines Captain and am devastated that I am having to step down."

"I feel I’m letting people down, but I had no choice," Harry said.

• On Saturday evening, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped out to attend the Mountbatten Music Festival at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
• The event is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's penultimate engagement as senior members of the royal family before their royal exit takes effect at the end of this month, according to Daily Mail royal correspondent Rebecca English. 
• Meghan wore a stunning, red Safiyaa cape dress and carried a Manolo Blahnik clutch for the occasion.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped out tonight for the Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The event is one of the couple's last as senior members of the royal family before they step back from their working royal duties at the end of the month.

In fact, according to Daily Mail royal correspondent Rebecca English, the music festival is nearly the final event the Sussexes are scheduled to attend before their royal exit takes effect. 

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex cut a dash at the Mountbatten Music Festival at the Royal Albert Hall tonight," English wrote on Twitter Saturday afternoon. "It’s their penultimate official engagement as senior working royals and very possibly Harry’s last as Captain General, Royal Marines."

The festival, which brings draws world-class musicians, composers, and conductors of the Massed Bands of Her Majestys Royal Marines, is expected to be the final time Harry wears his dress uniform as Captain General, a title he'll surrender when the he and Meghan step back from royal duties.

Meghan looked stunning as always in a red, Safiyaa cape dress and carrying a Manolo Blahnik red, satin clutch with a jeweled buckle. The dress retails for $1,693, while the clutch goes for £1,260, or about $1,644. Both are still available to purchase, if you're looking to splurge:

This year's Mountbatten Music Festival performance marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 80th anniversary of the formation of Britains Commandos. Although, TBH, no judgement if you're still more excited about Meghan's dress than the anniversary fun facts.

Even just a few months into 2019, we'd had our world rocked by this year's documentary movies. Think about it: R. Kelly had been arrested, Michael Jackson's legacy was being questioned, and all of us knew way more about Fyre Festival than we ever thought we would. Later in the year, Erin Lee Carr caused us to question what we know about both the Larry Nassar case and the Michelle Carter case. And even beyond those cases, we had more to discover from the biggest documentaries of 2019.

American Factory

American Factory has all the credentials you could want from a documentary. The Netflix-distributed film debuted at Sundance and was the first film from Barack and Michelle Obama's production company, Higher Ground Productions. The film focuses on a Chinese company factory in Ohio. The company, Fuyao, set up shop in Moraine Assembly, a former General Motors plant in a suburb of Dayton and American Factory uses its story as an entry point to explore the complex dynamics of the global economy.

This harrowing documentary tells the story of twin brothers Alex and Marcus Lewis. When the brothers were 18, Alex was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident that robbed him of his memories, leaving him to depend on his twin to fill in the blanks about his childhood. Marcus fills in the blanks, but as Alex eventually realizes, not with the truth. Tell Me Who I Am is a story of deception, abuse, and, ultimately, love.

Ice on Fire

Two Fyre Festival documentaries came out this year (this one, which premiered on Netflix in January, and Fyre Fraud, which premiered on Hulu a few weeks before), but the Netflix one is superior for several reasons. For one, the Netflix doc just looks better, elevating the true story of the notoriously failed music festival into something like opera, through dizzying cuts and modern, empty spaces that evoke the kind of hubris and vapidity that led to, you know, Fyre Festival. For another, the Netflix doc is the one that didn’t pay thousands of dollars to Fyre mastermind and conman Billy McFarland in order to get him to talk about nothing of substance.

Then again, you could always just be a completist and watch both. Either way, you’ll get a schadenfreude-inducing peek into a modern-day disaster that will leave you shocked. Check Fyre out on Netflix.

Surviving R. Kelly

If 2017 was a year of rage aimed at the ways men in power have exploited their influence, and 2018 was a year of crystallizing that rage into meaningful conversations, then 2019 looks to be the year we parse through what we've learned and pave a new way forward. One of the first documentaries to take this important step was Surviving R. Kelly, which looks at the alleged sex crimes of the musician. The rumors swirled for so long about what Kelly was doing—decades, even—but the first wave of #MeToo didn’t touch his career. This series on Lifetime may have finally changed that overlooked hypocrisy, as scores of women—the vast majority women of color—came forward with their harrowing, heartbreaking allegations of abuse.

After the six-part series aired, Kelly was dropped from his record label and arrested for 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse. You can watch it with your cable provider through Lifetime.

Leaving Neverland

Another documentary that’s hard to watch, Leaving Neverland is the tragic, slow-burning tale of two men who claim that Michael Jackson sexually abused them when they were kids. Like R. Kelly, Jackson’s legacy before this documentary laid it out so straightforwardly was complicated: Many people knew what he was suspected of doing, but remained so enamored with his work that we could sometimes collectively convince ourselves it was okay to push the allegations aside. Leaving Neverland revokes that privilege by giving Jackson’s accusers the freedom to speak openly and wrenchingly about their experiences. You can never un-see it, but you owe it to the accusers to watch. Stream it on HBO Go.

Lorena

Though the case is a punchline now, back in 1993, the story of a fed-up housewife who cut off her husband’s penis was receiving wall-to-wall coverage. But what do we really know about Lorena Bobbitt? According to this documentary in which we hear it directly from her, she was also the victim of horrible alleged abuse—a facet of her story that recontextualizes the whole narrative in the wake of #MeToo. Watch the four-part doc, produced by Jordan Peele, now on Amazon.

The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley

Director Alex Gibney has tackled a lot of maligned public figures and organizations—the Church of Scientology, Eliot Spitzer, the leaders of Enron—but Elizabeth Holmes is in a category all her own. The once-lauded CEO of blood-testing startup Theranos was in the running to be the next Steve Jobs, before it all came crashing down. Find out what really happened in Gibney’s compelling, very fair retelling.

Say what you will about the cutesiness of some of DisneyNature’s documentaries, I love a good penguin movie. And this one, which came out on Earth Day, has it all: Love, danger, a penguin who trips over stuff a lot—what more do you need? I will take one ticket, please!

Look, obviously we all love Satan. But the activities of the Satanic Temple, which chooses to worship the devil in an organized fashion, are more fascinating than you may realize. For instance, the Satanists' focus on fairness and social justice and their abhorrence to religious hypocrisy has resulted in them taking up several First Amendment cases—and sometimes winning. In Penny Lane’s surprisingly warm and thoughtful documentary, this and more is explored.

At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal

Erin Lee Carr is about to be everywhere. This is one of two documentaries by the filmmaker on this very list, and both look to be powerful and illuminating. At the Heart of Gold explores at the ground level the scores of brave women who came forward from USA Gymnastics to accuse Larry Nassar of decades of abuse.

Ask Dr. Ruth

In a year that has a lot of documentaries about sexual misconduct, it was refreshing to see one about a woman who made sex more navigable for millions of people. Dr. Ruth Westheimer is a legend: Famed sex therapist, Holocaust survivor, sexual literacy and HIV activist, prolific author. She was talking about sex frankly when people were very nervous about the subject, forever altering the discourse in ways we still see today. This documentary celebrates the 90-year-old’s brilliant, tragic life—so far.

I Love You, Now Die: The Commonwealth vs. Michelle Carter

Another Erin Lee Carr joint, this two-part documentary goes into the real story of the famous texting case between troubled teens Michelle Carter and Conrad Roy, her boyfriend. Carter was famously tried for murder for Roy's death after text records showed her appearing to pressure him into committing suicide. The doc brings up questions about technology, mental health, and the pressure put on teenagers in modern life.

The Great Hack

You know what happened with the whole Cambridge Analytica scandal, right? There was a company called Cambridge Analytica, and Facebook got hacked...and also Hillary Clinton was there, I think...and I want to say there were Russians? Hmm, maybe I need a refresh. This documentary will explain it through the stories of two people at either end of the scandal: David Carroll, a professor at Parsons who sued Cambridge Analytica to figure out where it was getting its data, and Brittany Kaiser, a former employee of Cambridge Analytica who left as the controversy started to crescendo. Sounds dramatic.

One Child Nation

Filmmaker Nanfu Wang grapples with the realities of China’s horrific former one child policy (it ended in 2015), as she becomes a first-time mother herself. The resulting film looks so spooky, so gaspingly awful, that even watching the trailer I had to remember that it really did happen—and for a long time, and in one of the biggest nations on earth.

This Hulu documentary follows the story of a 16-year-old from rural Tennessee who dreams of internet stardom. But even though screaming girls and live broadcast fandoms may follow, what’s at the end of this rainbow? And who gets to become internet-famous, and how long do they get to last? As much the story of a boy’s modern life as it is an indictment of internet celebrity culture, this one looks sad.

Untouchable

Though most of us never want to see Harvey Weinstein’s monstrous face ever again, it would behoove us not to explore the power dynamics and seeming untouchability he maintained in Hollywood for decades in order to make sure we don’t, as a society, let anything like that happen again. This documentary, which initially premiered at Sundance, will explore some of those issues.

Werner Herzog is the master of strange, beautiful documentaries—if you haven’t yet, let Grizzly Man and Little Dieter Needs to Fly change your life—and this one sounds especially weird. It’s apparently about comets and other space debris more broadly, and how astronomical bodies have influenced man for thousands of years, in ways great and small.

Salvatore Ferragamo: The Shoemaker of Dreams

Ferragamo shoes are iconic, thanks to the beautiful mind of the man who started making them. His life and legacy are parsed in this documentary, which is currently rumored for a fall release.

It was 3 a.m. in early January and I couldn’t sleep because of Samin Nosrat.

The Berkeley chef had recently debuted in “Salt Fat Acid Heat,” the Netflix series based on the cookbook that made her a star. She was bright and funny, with a knack for kitchen table talk. And now she was everywhere: interviewed on NPR, photographed in magazines, even showing off her buttermilk-marinated chicken on “CBS This Morning.”

This was great for Samin, but not for me. A month earlier, before her show was added to too many Netflix queues to count, I had asked her to be a speaker at a yet-to-be-launched event. With her newfound popularity, I worried she would say no. Perhaps if I just thought hard enough about her that night, she would say yes and I would fall asleep. Days passed before slumber came. “She loves it!” her agent finally wrote. “YAY!”

“Yay” was one way to describe what I felt. The other was relief. Samin was the first guest who agreed to speak at “The Box Sessions,” a creative gathering I founded that will be held from February 28 to March 1, 2020 at a retreat center near Santa Cruz, California. She will be joined by a lineup of award-winning filmmakers, artists, and original thinkers, including Jon M. Chu, the director of Crazy Rich Asians; novelist Jonathan Franzen; The Moth storytelling group; cartoonist and MacArthur Fellowship “genius” grant winner Lynda Barry; an award-winning a cappella choir; and a magician.

Everyone needs a creative community and each of us is creative even if we don’t think we are.

But I am getting ahead of myself here. Let me back up. In 2013, I took a year off from my job at The New York Times, where I have been a writer for two decades, and went back to college to study narrative filmmaking and voiceover at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Creative pursuits were a refuge from the drumbeat of corporate life. When I returned to New York I realized I had changed, but my life here stayed the same. So, I started a salon with my friends to harness the inspiration I’d experienced at school. We agreed to meet weekly by telephone to chart our progress.

One of us, a consultant, wrote a cookbook. A finance executive joined the board of a food bank. Our lives shifted. We acted as a natural support. Over time I distilled what I learned from the salon into these principles: everyone needs a creative community and each of us is creative even if we don’t think we are.

These became the foundation for The Box Sessions.

Last November, I began to flex my entrepreneurial muscle. I found a collaborator (1440 Multiversity) willing to host the weekend of speakers and workshops. A colleague, who knows I am fiercely self-reliant, warned me, “You can’t do this alone. You are going to have to ask for help.” So I asked an accountant to peruse the budget. I hired a lawyer.

I attacked the assignment with a reporter’s zeal. A friend hand-delivered a letter to Oscar winner Jeff Bridges. The actor, whom I did not know, wrote me back. (Maybe next year, Jeff!) I was invited backstage at a Mary Chapin Carpenter concert after I cold-called the singer’s manager. There, I asked her to perform at my fledgling enterprise minutes before she walked onstage.

During my years at the Times, I’ve interviewed plenty of celebrities. But it was the first time I had asked for something without the support (and appeal) of a storied media brand and the exposure that came with that. “For every person who says yes, you will have to make 20 more calls,” a friend who organized large arts events told me. In January, I revved up my email writing and phone calls, and used a week of vacation to head to the West Coast and meet potential speakers.

Nina Jacobson, who has produced everything from Crazy Rich Asians to Hunger Games to The Goldfinch (and who I have known for more than a decade), grilled me for half an hour in her Los Angeles office. I had breakfast with Jonny Sun, a screenwriter and creative researcher I’d read about. At the same time, I was juggling negotiations with The Moth in New York.

By February, I still only had Nosrat confirmed. And I started to get nervous. A friend forwarded an email on my behalf to Nick Offerman, one of the stars of “Parks and Recreation.” (The two were craftsmen; Offerman owns a woodworking workshop in Los Angeles.) I pestered my friend for a reply and, a month later, my cellphone rang. I recognized the deep baritone.

“Hello, this is Nick Offerman,” he said.

I told him about my father, who was a woodworker too and with whom I’d made a table when I was 12. I said I wanted him to inspire others the way my father inspired me. Offerman demurred; he said he didn’t see himself as inspirational. I disagreed. We chatted for about 30 minutes but, in the end, he was too busy to come.

It had been four months of evening calls and work-filled weekends. Shouldn’t I give up?

I hung up, deflated. I won’t go so far as to say I had a crisis of confidence, but I was low. It had been four months of evening calls, dead ends, and work-filled weekends. Shouldn’t I give up? But Offerman was encouraging even if he couldn’t partake. He treated the idea with respect, which propelled me forward.

In early April I sent an email to Jonathan Franzen, a National Book Award-winning author. Nine days later he said yes. In the following weeks I received commitments from The Moth, which agreed to teach a workshop and hold a Saturday night StorySLAM; Darla Anderson, who won an Oscar for producing Pixar’s Coco; Jonny Sun; and author Fred Dust who agreed to teach a workshop on creativity and fear.

What seemed dire a month earlier took on a certain momentum. The program was beginning to take shape. At the end of April, I heard from Carpenter’s manager. The singer couldn’t make it. Still, he told me to stick to my vision. I took that as further proof to keep barreling ahead.

Two months ago, I was at a coffee shop when I got a text from Nina Jacobson, the producer I visited in Los Angeles. She was coming. So, too, was Jon M. Chu, who was in New York filming In The Heights, a movie based on the Tony-winning play by Lin-Manuel Miranda. I let out a happy sigh, startling my server.

The Box Sessions is one of the hardest assignments I have ever had. And my passion sometimes felt like desperation. But with so much turmoil in the world right now, I want to create a place where people will be inspired to explore their creative lives. And I can’t wait to welcome everyone in February.

So what if that means having a few sleepless nights along the way? It's worth it.

Katie Holmes continued her style streak Saturday night at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park in New York City.

The festival, which supports the Global Citizen movement's goal of ending extreme poverty by 2030, attracted tens of thousands of supporters to celebrate the campaign's tenth year of work.

Global Citizen reported after the festival that the event saw partners and members of Congress make announcements worth $1.6 billion and that, over the last decade, the campaign has "mobilized $48.5 billion dollars worth of commitments — which has already affected the lives of 880 million people living in extreme poverty."

Katie, naturally, put together a pitch perfect festival lewk for the event.

"Getting ready for @glblctzn ❤️ @djquintero @genevieveherr," she captioned a photo of herself in beauty prep mode (and wearing a Global Citizen t-shirt), tagging her hair stylist, DJ Quintero, and her makeup artist, Genevieve Herr, to give credit where credit was due.

Katie's next post included a majestic hair flip and her real festival outfit—plus addition shoutouts for her stylist, Julia von Boehm, and Chloé, the brand behind her amazing dress.

The ensemble consisted of a white blouse with flowy sleeves and a statement making black tie, which Katie wore in a loose bow, paired with a black lace (and semi see-through) floor-length skirt. Miley Cyrus is spending quality time with her family following news of her split from Kaitlynn Carter.

The singer spent Saturday night at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas, taking the stage in a bondage-inspired ensemble to perform an array of hits spanning her entire career. The set list included "Slide Away," "Nothing Breaks Like the Heart," "We Can’t Stop," "Wrecking Ball," "Mother's Daughter," and her new Charlie’s Angels' theme song, "Don’t Call Me Angel," as well as covers of Pink Floyd’s "Comfortably Numb" and Led Zeppelin’s "Black Dog."

Miley's mom, Tish Cyrus, her sister, Brandi Cyrus, and her brother, Trace Cyrus, were all by her side for the big night, hanging out with her before and after her set and cheering her on from the audience during her performance.

Miley shared some clips from the show on her Instagram grid.

Miley explained the meaning behind covering "Comfortably Numb" in the caption of her post about the performance.

"First time covering Pink Floyd’s 'Comfortably Numb' in Vegas last night! 🖤 My band is so f*cking sick and makes it all happen! Getting to perform these songs that are the reason I started making music in the first place feels so RIGHT, FULL CIRCLE as my dad would say. I said it last night 'I play some songs for you ( the crowd) and some for me' but I think it’s important for my audience who maybe didn’t grow up listening to music with their parents, grandparents, older brothers / sisters to get exposed to some of these classics! No one should miss out on songs like these, the youth NEEDS to know what was before to understand how music got to where it is today! This week, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for the "Back to Nature" festival at RHS Garden Wisley—which, as People notes, is basically a a bigger and permanent version of the original design that she launched in May at the Chelsea Flower Show—in Woking, England.

Kate looked amazing at the event, which is not a surprise at all since she looks amazing approximately 110 percent of the time (real math).

What was surprising about Kate's look at the "Back to Nature" festival was how affordable part of her ensemble turned out to be.

Kate opted for a pricey (but jaw-droppingly stunning) long-sleeved, floral Emilia Wickstead dress for the event. The dress retails for £1,635 ($2,255) and is not the affordable item, tragically.

Kate's earrings for the event weren't just affordable, they were (/are) downright cheap. Not in a "looks cheap" way, of course, but in an "OMG I CAN AFFORD TO BUY A PAIR OF THESE FOR LITERALLY EVERYONE ON MY HOLIDAY SHOPPING LIST" kind of way.

The earrings, known as "Simple Filigree Short Drop Earrings," retail for $6, but went on sale for LESS THAN $2. Seriously. Unsurprisingly, there's been a mad run on the earrings, which have currently sold out, but have a waitlist that you can join right now.

Last night, Jennifer Lopez's blonde bob took the world-famous singer/actress as its plus-one to the premiere of Hustlers at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Exaggeration? Yes. Big exaggeration? No. J.Lo's sleek bob was brighter than ever, which perfectly complimented her canary yellow gown and the joyous glow on her face at the premiere, which she attended with her fiancé, Alex Rodriguez.

Hustlers has the definition of an all-star cast. Seriously, in addition to Jennifer Lopez, the cast includes Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Lizzo, and Cardi B. The movie itself is based on Jessica Pressler's 2015 New York magazine article "The Hustlers at Scores" and tells the story of a group of strippers who turn the tables on their Wall Street clients and start embezzling money. The hustle is real.

Jennifer was beyond excited for the film's premiere, taking to Instagram ahead of the carpet to gush/preview her look:

And the look just kept on giving at the carpet and the premiere, where J.Lo offered some living, breathing proof that blondes do have more fun (at least at TIFF?). She also carried a money-bundle clutch that is on-point for the film.

After the premiere, J.Lo kept the night going at a party hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and The Hollywood Reporter at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto and changed into a slinky red dress with a plunging V (obvi) and major Jessica Rabbit vibes for the occasion:

Can you even imagine performing at the Made in America festival, only to glance to side of stage and discover one Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is watching the whole thing? And not just watching, but obviously loving? I can't even fathom the possibility, but that is because I am not Lizzo, and can neither sing nor rap nor dance nor play the flute.

Lizzo is having the best, and most thoroughly deserved, year of perhaps anyone in the music industry: She scored her first top 10 hit with 'Truth Hurts,' absolutely destroyed her VMAs performance, and will appear in the upcoming movie Hustlers, to name just three things. And now, a fourth: Beyoncé watched her perform, looking absolutely awestruck, and is there anyone more impressive to impress than Queen Bey?! Naturally, Lizzo freaked out: Posting two photos on Instagram, she captioned them, "Swipe to lose your fucking mind." Given the accompanying bee emoji, it's safe to assume Lizzo's a fully paid up member of the Beyhive.

Here's the wildest thing about Lizzo's incredible year: After first dropping 'Truth Hurts' in 2017, she came very close to quitting music altogether. "The day I released 'Truth Hurts' was probably one of the darkest days I’ve had ever in my career. I remember thinking, 'If I quit music now, nobody would notice. This is my best song ever, and nobody cares,'" she told People in July.

"I was like, 'Fuck it, I’m done.' And a lot of people rallied; my producer, my publicist and my family, they were like, 'Just keep going because this is the darkest before the dawn,'" she continued. Looks like we all owe Lizzo's producer, publicist, and family a drink or two!

• As spotted by Us Weekly, Michelle Obama wore the new red lip gloss color from Glossier, and looks absolutely gorgeous. 
• She was speaking at the Essence Festival, and her makeup artist Carl Ray broke down her entire look.
• Fans have loved Michelle's gorgeous natural hair for years.

Michelle Obama spoke at the Essence Festival in New Orleans this past weekend, and lo and behold she's wearing one of the latest Glossier lip gloss shades (Red) that just debuted. Michelle looked amazing, with a gorgeous dark sequined jumpsuit and her natural curly ombre hair, and she wore silver hoops and rings to accent the ensemble. 

Even better, the look is shoppable and affordable. I happen to be a Glossier megafan, and they keep coming out with interesting and innovative products like Bubblewrap. I do like their Generation G, but it's a drier, more matte look, so I am dying to try this new lip gloss color. Their other new color is Holographic, which of course I'll probably end up getting too (I love me some nude, shimmery gloss).

The lip color is just the perfect, subtle pop to go with the outfit. Michelle's makeup artist Carl Ray told Into the Gloss exactly what he was going for: "I wanted Michelle Obama to look fresh, polished and glowing...Given Essence Fest is in New Orleans in July, I wanted to keep in mind the summer heat and humidity, so I made sure to keep her makeup sheer and radiant. Coming off the Becoming book tour, her looks have been glamorous and unique—the Essence festival was yet another opportunity to really showcase everything about women empowerment."

The epic Glastonbury Festival happened this weekend in the U.K., and all anyone can talk about is Miley Cyrus (if you happen to live or were visiting for the festival, I need to know all the details/am insanely jealous of you). The actor and singer brought the heat on the last day—channeling her Black Mirror character Ashley O. complete with her lavender wig and trademark song, and bringing dad Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil Nas X to sing their ballad of the summer "Old Town Road." But my very favorite moment was actually neither of these two—Miley channeled the legendary British singer Amy Winehouse, and turns out it was a surprisingly sweet, tender tribute that I absolutely adored.

Obviously, Miley doesn't have the same vocals as Amy Winehouse, but she brings some American southern twang to the sound. She didn't move around as much as for the rest of the concert, instead choosing to walk slowly around the stage (the crowd looooved it, singing along and smiling). Mark Ronson, who accompanied Miley at the piano, apparently used to work with Amy Winehouse, so there was hidden meaning in her performance there as well.

I really love it. Obviously Amy Winehouse's style was utterly unique to her, but Miley sounds perfectly comfortable in that low range. It's just a totally different vibe to the classic tune that proves a) Miley can totally sing live, no surprise, and b) that song is still so, so, heartbreakingly gorgeous.

You can't attend the Cannes Film Festival without taking a walk down the famously long red carpet. Though Elle Fanning has been dominating the scene with her designer ensembles—her outfits have been my favorite so far—other stars were eager to show off their own personal style for the cameras. Elsa Hosk and Dakota Fanning came in beautiful dresses, Margot Robbie wore Chanel pants, and others like Marion Cotillard came in shorts.

The actress arrived for the screening of Matthias & Maxime—a drama focusing on a group of friends in their late 20s, according to IMDB—and Cotillard definitely brought a little flair to the red carpet. Rather than arrive in a dress, she chose a black crop top and shorts set. The drawstring bottoms sat low on her hips, and she styled the look with a pair of peep-toe heeled boots. The bottoms honestly looked super cozy, like the kind of sweat shorts you wear while snacking and watching Netflix. I'm all for comfort!

To complete the look, Cotillard wore a floor-sweeping Balmain denim kimono with distressed details on the sleeves and on the back. The oversize outerwear featured, what looked like, a dragon on the back.

The words ‘Coachella’ and ‘Kylie Jenner’ come so hand in hand that they almost rhyme. Every year Kardashian fans look forward to seeing what the social media star and makeup mogul will wear to the fashion-focused festival, and 2019 did not disappoint. Last weekend, the 21-year-old billionaire did denim-on-denim and wore a bucket hat—two feats that should not be attempted by the average mortal. It was a very different vibe for the Coachella veteran, and hinted that she would be taking a more chilled out approach to festival dressing this time around.

With that in mind, Kylie’s look for this weekend is pretty perfect, too. Dressing to match the rest of her family, who all opted for neutral, nude shades, Kylie’s latest ‘chella look was a silver mid-length dress with textured fabric and cute short sleeves, effortlessly worn with chunky white sneakers.

With such a simple look to accessorize, Stormi’s mom made a statement with her hair instead—and it might be her best Coachella hair ever.

Normally a fan of brightly colored, bold cut wigs for the festival, Kylie instead went for a super sleek braid. Using long extensions for the style, she adorned the braid with a ton of extra detailing, weaving in white seashells and gold hoops, along with clear crosses in a nod to Easter Sunday.

Kylie and the braid of dreams were joined by her whole family at the festival on Sunday afternoon, with all of the Kardashians out in full force to celebrate Easter and support Kanye West, who chose the Coachella desert as the venue to perform his first public Sunday service.

Kanye's Sunday services are usually an intensely private occasion involving NDAs and only small glimpses on Instagram stories, so Kim, Kourtney, Kris, Kendall, Kylie, Travis Scott, and the children all headed over to watch the huge event. In the end, Kanye provided an epic two-hour performance, with surprise appearances from Chance the Rapper, Ty Dolla $ign and Teyana Taylor.

Do you think he's a little annoyed that Kylie's braid stole the spotlight? Because (and I cannot stress this enough), it totally did.

Who is Lady Stoneheart?Why do fans think Lady Stoneheart might appear in Season 8?Will Lady Stoneheart actually appear in Season 8?

Game of Thrones is currently in the midst of its eighth and final season and, with just five episodes to go until the long-awaited series finale, there are, frankly, still a lot of loose ends to tie up.

Some of the loose ends are very show-based (like how will Dany react when she finds out Jon is her nephew and also the rightful Targaryen heir to the Iron Throne?), but others are more book-based and involve elements from A Song of Ice and Fire that haven't made their way into the HBO adaptation—or not yet, at least. One of those book-based lingering questions involves Lady Stoneheart, a character book readers have been hoping to hear from since Season 3's infamous Red Wedding.

Now, a new quote from Joe Dempsie, who plays Gendry on the show, is reigniting hope that the character might make an appearance before the show ends for good in May.

Who is Lady Stoneheart?

Lady Stoneheart is, for lack of a better description, Zombie Catelyn Stark. In the books, Catelyn is resurrected by Lord of Light follower Lord Beric Dondarrion after her murder at the Red Wedding. The resurrection involves Beric sacrificing his life for Catelyn's and her reanimated corpse is known as Lady Stoneheart. She plays a pretty significant role in the books, but hasn't appeared in the series at all.

Why do fans think Lady Stoneheart might appear in Season 8?

During a Q&A at Radio Times and BFI Festival, Joe Dempsie, who plays Gendry on Game of Thrones, discussed his character's long absence from the show and, in the process, reignited hope among Lady Stoneheart lovers that the character might appear on the series after all.

Of his own character's long hiatus from the show, Dempsie said, per Express:

This prompted the panel's host to ask: "Lady Stoneheart?"

Will Lady Stoneheart actually appear in Season 8?

Don't get your hopes up too high for an eleventh hour Lady Stoneheart appearance, however.

Jacob Anderson, who plays Grey Worm, was also on the panel and had a simple response to the Lady Stoneheart question: "Give it up!"

Kristen Stewart and Sara Dinkin took a new step in their relationship at Coachella Friday night: The public make out session.

The actress and stylist (Sara's celebrity clients include the likes of Chloe Bennet, Jessica Szohr and Nico Tortorella) have been romantically linked since December 2018, when they stepped out for a breakfast date in Los Angeles. Before hooking up with Sara, Kristen famously dated Victoria's Secret model Stella Maxwell for two years before calling it quits in November 2018.

"They stopped seeing eye to eye and were living very different lives," a source told Us Weekly of the split. "Stella and Kristen still share a ton of friends and are friendly with each other."

Kristen and Sara appear to have been going strong since that December breakfast date. The two were spotted engaging in some PDA, emphasis on the P during The 1975's set in Indio, California on the first night of Coachella 2019.

Sara has been posting a ton of pictures from Coachella on Instagram, but so far, none featuring Kristen. But, TBH, we're still crossing our fingers that, like so many other celebrity couples before them, maybe Kristen and Sara will use Coachella as their Instagram official moment.

Great news for Coachella fans: If you're already dealing with major FOMO because you won't be attending the music festival this year, take solace in knowing you'll be able to watch the whole thing straight from your couch (and, you know, not pay $500+ for a weekend pass).

For the first time ever, Coachella will live stream both weekends of the music festival on YouTube. Forty-eight acts have been confirmed so far to be streamed, including Billie Eilish, Maggie Rogers, Kacey Musgraves, Blood Orange, and The 1975. Donald Glover's new film, Guava Island, which co-stars Rihanna, will also debut on the April 13 livestream during weekend one. 

The weekend two livestream is now referred to as Coachella Curated—"three days of original content, full Yuma Tent sets, performances, and more," according to a tweet from the festival. Fans were disappointed last year when Beyoncé's epic weekend two Coachella set didn't air live, so this will be an exciting moment for music lovers everywhere.

Less than a week before the first weekend begins, Coachella announced in an official tweet that Solange will no longer be performing at the music festival in Indio, California.

"Due to major production delays, Solange will unfortunately no longer be performing at this year's festival," said the tweet. "She sends her sincerest apologies, and looks forward to performing at Coachella in the future."

The news comes as a shock to many Solange fans, who expressed their disappointment over the vague reasoning behind the cancellation. The singer has yet to publicly comment on the cancellation directly.

Solange performed at Coachella 2018 with her sister, Beyoncé, who headlined the music festival last year. In March, she dropped her fourth studio album, When I Get Home, and was expected to play songs from it.

No word yet on who's replacing Solange, but Coachella attendees can still plan on seeing artists like Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, and Janelle Monáe.

Festival season has arrived, and while you've probably spent a few weeks months planning your outfit, less "sexy" essentials like Purell and shower sheets are must-haves to put on your packing list. Ahead, we've rounded up the festival necessities you'll need to make your experience as fun as it looks in your Instagram pics.

First thing's first: sunscreen. Be nice to your skin and slather this lightweight 100+ SPF (yes, 100+) all over your face and body, then take five minutes to re-apply it three to four times throughout the day. Talk to me at 5 p.m. when you're not sunburnt and peeling.

Just incase you made a rookie mistake and didn't break in your boots before heading to the festival, pack a box of blister-healing band-aids to relieve any pain or discomfort. 

Don't even think about packing your favorite sunnies—when you're sweating and bumping into people, go for an affordable pair like these celeb-favorite Privé Revaux's that look way more expensive than they are. 

Depending on what you classify as "essential," you're definitely going to want this disposable camera (skip the Polaroid—it's too heavy and expensive) to make memories with when you can't afford to waste your phone battery.

At some point during the day your hair will go up in a ponytail or bun, no matter how much time you spent on those beach waves in the morning. These velvet scrunchies will look cute with any outfit.

This mini bottle of Batiste dry shampoo is a godsend when you need to keep your hair from looking like a greasy, sweaty mess for that Instagram pic. 

When you're on day two, hour 15 and there isn't a shower in sight, use these alcohol-free shower sheets. They contain natural purifying neem, peppermint, and citrus to refresh your skin from all of the sweat and dirt your body has soaked up. 

Perfume masks gross smells—use deodorant if you want to actually feel clean in the crowd of sweaty people.

Instead of schlepping around a poncho that a) may not even be used if it doesn't rain and b) will probably ruin your outfit, pack a fun mini towel. You're guaranteed to use it when 3 p.m. hits and you just want to lay on the grass and listen to the music. If it does pour, then you'll have something to dry off with. 

For the moments you forget to drink water throughout the day and suddenly your head is pounding from the music, a bottle of Advil will certainly come in handy. Mom was always right about this one.

Last night, Prince Harry attended the annual Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall. The yearly event showcases the Royal Marines Band and helps raise money for the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines Charity, according to posts on social media from Kensington Palace. Harry's appearance at the event was a bit of a surprise, since the Palace only announced his plans a few hours before the festival started.

Harry didn't just attend the festival, he was the guest of honor at the event, the proceeds from which will go to The Royal Marines Charity and CLIC Sargent. The two-hour concert included performances by more than 200 musicians and the Marine bands performed a wide range of songs, including popular hits by Take That and music from the movie The Greatest Showman.

The Palace also shared pictures of Harry, who in addition to being the Duke of Sussex is also the Captain General of the Royal Marines, attending the event in his best military dress. That "best military dress" included a crisp white shirt, a black bowtie, a red coat, black pants with red stripes, and Harry's all kinds of military regalia. In short, Harry looked hot—just ask Twitter, where the Ginger Prince Thirst was real.

After releasing a new report on how Gen Z—people born in the mid-1990s through the mid-200s—feels about gender fluidity (spoiler: 82 percent of Gen Zs strongly agree that organizations have a responsibility to support marginalized groups, including those who don't conform to a specific gender), Gucci's CHIME FOR CHANGE is focusing on its next chapter with a "To Gather Together" campaign.

“Gucci is proud to reaffirm our commitment to a more just and equitable world," says Gucci President and CEO Marco Bizzarri. "Achieving gender equality is critical to securing our collective future, and we are dedicated to leveraging our creative power, global employee engagement, and support for non-profit projects to ignite conversation and help empower the next generation of leaders."

Gucci hopes to continue a global conversation with the creation of Gucci ArtWalls by Italian artist MP5 and Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele. Each wall features silhouettes of genderless figures in London, Milan, New York, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The fashion house also presented a short film at the Sundance Film Festival produced by Jade Jackman and Irregular Labs called The Future is Fluid, which explores what gender means to young people across the world.

"One of the ways that I think we need to be looking at educating society and educating people is to have them understand the gender spectrum because you can't accept something without understand it first," explains one of the individuals in the video. The seven-minute film also includes stories of harassment and discrimination gender-fluid people face in our society today.

In addition to the murals and video, Gucci also tapped into a major component of the Gen Z DNA—zines!—for activists, artists, and writers to speak about gender equality and self-expression. It will be distributed in NYC's Gucci Wooster Bookstore, the Gucci Garden in Florence, select bookstores, and universities in Belgium, Finland, France, Israel, Italy, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Before the disastrous Fyre Festival scam, Maryann Rolle was a Bahamian woman who owned a local restaurant and sought to provide good food for locals and tourists. But as The Hunger Games-like debacle of the festival played out, Rolle took the time, cost, and effort to continue to feed those who had been stranded during the event-that-wasn't, according to Netflix's new documentary—even though Rolle wasn't sure she'd get reimbursed. Rolle spent $50,000 of her savings to do so, reportedly ruining her credit in the process.

Like the rest of the world, you probably watched it play out over social media, but here's a recap: The event lost investors money, ruined the reputation of Fyre Media, left thousands of local workers unpaid with no food, and put partygoers stranded in the middle of nowhere. It's now been made into two documentaries, and the organizer, Billy McFarland, has been sentenced to six years in prison. But there was a hero among the catastrophe: Rolle.

Rolle and her husband Elvis own and operate family restaurant Exuma Point Bar and Grille. Located at the northern part of the island, it has a reputation for serving fresh, delicious food like ribs and fish.

According to travel writer Tim Controneo, Rolle is also a singer and Elvis a dancer as live entertainment. The two also own villas in the surrounding area by the bar, called Exuma Point Resort.

Rolle accepted a contract on good faith for catering and lodging, according to Tribune 242, which is a daily newspaper in The Bahamas. “I wasn’t working for this one, I was working on our future goals with Fyre,” she said. "That was my purpose."

Interviewed in The Guardian after the event was over, Rolle said she was devastated when the reality of the festival became clear. Apparently near tears, she explained, "Just take it away and let me start a new beginning...It really pains me when I have to talk about it."

Rolle had spent $50,000 to draft in extra staff and, despite the fact that the festival was clearly not happening, continued to uphold her catering commitment. She says the total she spent is in fact much higher, in the six figures.

Rolle made over 1,000 meals a day just for the workers.

On her GoFundMe, Rolle explains, "Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all prepared and delivered by Exuma Point to Coco Plum Beach, and Roker’s Point where the main events were scheduled to take place." She also says that patrons also came to the restaurant to get meals, so the total meal count is probably higher. Organizers were also apparently checked into rooms at the Exuma Point villas.

She also helped Fyre festival-goers.

She said she was also called upon to house guests as well—hundreds of them. “They said the grounds aren’t ready, we would like to bring the guests to your place for a few hours until the site is ready," she told local media. "But we didn’t prepare the grounds to receive 500 or 600 persons."

Still, Rolle managed to take care of them despite the short notice and being short-staffed. "During the day they were happy here as long as I kept cooking, breakfast turned into lunch and the girls just cooked and cooked and cooked. We had a lot of food, it’s just that we weren’t prepared.”

She's been badly impacted by the festival.

Rolle was never paid for her services to the organizers. On Twitter, the executive producer on Netflix's Fyre, Gabrielle Bluestone, drew attention to Rolle, both her heroic efforts to feed workers and the financial consequences.

She did, however, start a GoFundMe, which as of this writing has so far raised over $184,000. Her story has resonated with hundreds of other people, who have donated to support. You can check out her page here.

Everyone I’ve talked to has seemed more optimistic than they were in January 2018: The political landscape seems to be righting itself, people are beginning to take their focus away from the chaos of the last few years and think about the future, and what’s truly important seems to be coming back to the fore.

Plus—and most importantly—there’s a whole slate of new Timmy movies to look forward to! We have The King and Little Women coming to theaters in the next twelve months, plus more news about films he’s starring in like Dune and The French Dispatch and whatever the heck is happening with that CMBYN sequel. And if that’s not reason enough to make you think, Hey, things are looking up!, then you might want to find a new column. Might I suggest one called This Week In Everything Sucks And I Will Be Continuing This Misery Spiral of My Own Making?

But that’s not this column, so I hope everyone had a great holiday (Timmy’s birthday, December 27) and is ready to get to work making 2019 an even better year than last one.

The only celebrity couple I have literally ever cared about, Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp, jetted to Paris for holiday break and had a great time smooching in various places and presumably speaking French, which—in case you have never heard of either of them before—is something they are both capable of. While in Paris, they dressed so stylishly for the cold weather that I could not help but think that they looked like some European ski villains from an ‘80s movie. Here’s a photo of them:

After a year of marriage and the birth of their beautiful daughter, Kulture, Cardi B and Offset broke up earlier this month. In a video on Instagram, Cardi explained the split, saying:

"So everybody been bugging me and everything and you know, I've been trying to work things out with my baby father for a hot minute now and we're really good friends and you know we're really good business partners," she explains. "He's always somebody that I run to to talk to and we got a lot of love for each other, but things just haven't been working out between us for a long time and it's nobody's fault."

"I guess we grew out of love, but we're not together anymore. I don't know. It might take time to get a divorce and I'm gonna always have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter's father and yeah."

Sad, right? You know who else is sad about the split? Like, really, really sad about it? Offset. The Migos rapper has been trying to get Cardi back. He started his "Cardi Please Forgive Me and Take Me Back" campaign this weekend, with an Instagram video declaring that all he wants for his birthday is Cardi back.

If rom-coms have taught us anything about love, it's that sometimes you need a big romantic gesture to win back the love of your life. Well, Offset is taking those rom-com lessons to the extreme, because last night, he literally crashed Cardi's set at the Rolling Loud Festival in Los Angeles, storming the stage with a huge flower display and begging his estranged wife for forgiveness.

Spoiler alert: It didn't work.

Because Offset decided to make this grand gesture at a concert with a ton of professional photographers on hand, being paid to take pictures of what was happening on the stage, the whole thing was documented for posterity.
