The 2026 Grammys have come and gone, but Roan's naked dress still lives rent-free in my mind. (I assume that's precisely the reaction she wanted her red carpet look to have.) Once photographers got the shot, Roan removed her cloak and elicited gasps from the whole of Crypto.com Arena. Tate McRae wasn't the only nominee decked in custom Balenciaga on Grammys night. Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli dressed Cynthia Erivo on February 1, too, just not at the 2026 Grammys. Former Valentino lead Piccioli couldn't create a simple brown dress even if he tried. 2026 is the year of firsts for Teyana Taylor. Since January 1, she hosted Saturday Night Live, scored an Oscar nomination, and accepted a Golden Globe, all for the first time. Kaia Gerber: actor, model, and aspiring best-dressed Grammys guest, it seems. On February 1, she cosplayed an It-girl musician at Saint Laurent's 2026 Grammys after-party, but not in custom designer like Hailey Bieber. The Grammys newbie re-wore a familiar little black dress instead, courtesy of Givenchy.

Taking cues from Charli xcx, Bieber, and Teyana Taylor, Gerber jumped from one post-show soirée to another, all in the same four-figure Givenchy midi. Even in all black, the model was impossible to miss. Her square-neck, $2,750, spaghetti-strap style remained skintight until the calf-grazing hem, which flared out ever-so-slightly. Perhaps inspired by Grammy Award regular and three-time winner, Olivia Rodrigo, Gerber utilized an accessible layering hack with black, semi-sheer tights. Always on board for short shorts, Hailey styled a satin pair for Saint Laurent's Spring 2026 ready-to-wear show last September. Her butter yellow shorts appeared just as glossy as Justin's, except with white lace trim along the thigh-grazing hems.

The model stacked Saint Laurent's take on the windbreaker on top, in rust orange with tangerine accents. The main difference between the Biebers' shorts? Hailey's actually belonged to a silk $3,100 romper, but stacked on top of the windbreaker trend, they were as good as shorts.

Webb did her big one for Roan's second-ever Grammy Awards, with not one, but two impressive designer pulls. The dynamic duo dug through Mugler's catalog and created a custom two-piece for Roan, beginning with an elongated, floor-length cape. Its gold chain-link choker channeled the medieval aesthetic Roan adores. But in true pop star form, it didn't stay on for long.

After a few poses, the "Good Luck, Babe" singer stripped down to a matching high-low slip, also in a rich burgundy shade. In lieu of classic shoulder straps, each strand of weightless chiffon moved south to faux nipple piercings, which drooped to her waist like curtains. (The same silhouette debuted on Mugler's Spring 2026 runway, except in nude with a silver star print.) "It’s giving drama, but in a very quick, cool-girl way," Roan's makeup artist, Andrew Dahling, tells Marie Claire, about the dresses and accompanying bold eye makeup look, created with "shadow sticks and dazzle shadows and lavender blush." "It’s about shape to the eyes—glamour, glitz, metallics in strategic places to make her eyes pop."

Upping the Middle Ages-ness of it all, Dahling collaborated with MAC Cosmetics to make Roan's naked dress a bit more "medieval." "We started with this very archival, full, bare moment," Dahling says. "Once the tattoos came into play, everything became very medieval, but in a real way. It's still fantasy and something otherworldly, but grounded."

Dahling also provided insight on her Mugler bust—or lack thereof. "There was so much going on—the tattoos, the prosthetic nipples, all of it, but overall we wanted everything to feel cohesive and really honor the dress and the medieval world we were living in," he says. "The glam came from that."

Roan didn't sing her nominated hit "The Subway" at the 2026 Grammys, but she delivered an award-worthy performance in the form of multiple designer looks.

Don't let the slapstick hijinks of her pilot Grammys performance distract you: The Sabrina Carpenter look we'll have stuck in our heads tomorrow is her custom Valentino gown from the red carpet. Stylist Jared Ellner has honed in on an avant pin-up look for Carpenter over the past few years, combining deep-cut vintage references with sequin-coated boudoir pieces from the likes of Victoria's Secret and Ludovic de Saint Sernin. But this dress is a sign that the duo is ever-so-slightly refining her red carpet style. And it comes at the hands of a house at the start of its own style evolution: Valentino is now under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, who's only a few collections into his run.

When she's walking the carpet in delicate, sheer flutter sleeves and beading that must've taken hours to place, Carpenter can leave the feather boas and theatrics on-stage. Tyla and stylist Ronnie Hart love a throwback moment. Even when they're sourcing Matthieu Blazy's weeks-old Chanel Métiers d'Art collection, they're refashioning it to resemble a Y2K pop video with customized low-rise skirts and heaps of pearl jewelry. At the 2026 Grammys, they fast-forwarded from a slate of early-aughts vintage looks to the mid-2010s—2013, to be exact. In a 13-year-old collection by DSquared2, the pair uncovered a Fall 2013 dress combining Tyla's penchant for rhinestones and flirtatious necklines with the heightened glamour of a red carpet. Between the feather duster train, the cowl neckline, and the entirely open back, Tyla makes a strong case for replacing 20216 trends with their 2013 counterparts.

On the red carpet, Huntr/x's Audrey Nuna told E! that her wearing Thom Browne to the 2026 Grammys was deeply personal to her.

"I'm obviously a proud daughter of immigrants, and our story of survival is around clothing manufacturing," she said. "Thom Browne was the first brand that my grandfather fulfilled orders for."

Her deconstructed ensemble, styled by Danyul Brown, was a highlight of the night, putting Thom Browne's imaginative tailoring on full display. The story behind Nuna's relationship to the brand makes it that much sweeter.

A lot of comparisons were flying around between the twisted world of Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan and Lady Gaga's Matières Fécales Grammys dress. I'd say this gown, styled by Nick Royal and Peri Rosenzweig of Hard Style, is more akin to a bird of prey: ready to swoop in and devour whoever gets in her way. The high-neck collar and body-hugging trumpet silhouette are commanding, but more aligned with her Mayhem tour costumes (styled by Hunter Clem) than the tutus and tiaras of a ballet drama. After all these years of wowing fans with egg-carriages and meat dresses, it seems Lady Gaga has learned the power of a (slight) understatement.

Justin and Hailey Bieber's date night at the 2026 Grammys red carpet might have been the biggest styling curveball of the evening. I know, I know: All-black outfits are extremely common from award show to award show. But Justin and Hailey Bieber have a couples' style reputation for diametrically opposed looks. She'll wear a Toteme coat and The Row jeans, or a vintage Gucci mini dress; he'll wear sweatpants and Crocs.

But on a night where Mr. Bieber is nominated for several major awards, including Album of the Year, he and his spouse decided to show a rare, united front. Their stylists, Karla Welch (for Justin) and Dani Michelle (for Hailey) chose a coordinating Balenciaga suit and Alaïa gown. Each piece brought in a little of their personal style, like the "Yukon" singer's affinity for extra-oversize fits and the Rhode founder's love of all things sleek, minimal, and a little leggy. They also agreed to finish their outfits with a pointed accessory: "ICE Out" pins. Some style habits were made to be broken.

Up until the Resonator Awards on January 27, fans weren't sure if Olivia Rodrigo would make an appearance at the 2026 Grammy Awards. (The pre-Grammys soirée tends to tease Sunday's guest list.) Since she's not nominated this year, the three-time winner could've watched the ceremony from her couch like the rest of us. Still, we got our hopes up—and, alas, Rodrigo did indeed skip the 2026 Grammys.

This year would've marked the singer's fifth Grammys, plus her fifth with styling sisters Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo. She gave us plenty of looks over the weekend, though, at pretty much every major pre-Grammys event. On Jan. 27, the Delgadillo duo dressed her in a Valentino drop-waist Georgette Dress from the brand's Resort 2026 collection for the Resonator Awards. Three rows of black cascading bows decorated the mini's ruched, powder pink silk.

Livies hoped the four-figure pick was confirmation she'd wear Valentino at the 2026 Grammys, especially since the days-old Spring 2026 Couture collection—in all its vaudevillian, showgirl glory—was ripe for the taking.

On Grammys eve, Rodrigo was out again at Lucian Grainge's Universal Artist Showcase. She accepted the Amplifier Award in a vintage Miu Miu mini. Major kudos to the Delgadillos for tracking down the metallic gold, liquid organza dress, and extra points for Rodrigo for her "ICE Out" pin. Similar styles appeared on many red carpet looks at the 2026 Grammys.

The Delgadillo sisters first collaborated with Rodrigo in 2021, just in time for her first ever Grammys appearance in 2022. As far as debuts go, hers left quite an impression: She accepted three trophies in a skintight, off-the-shoulder gown from Vivienne Westwood. Pale pink graffiti-like trim emphasized its corseted silhouette; opera gloves and Swarovski chokers added a whiff of '90s nostalgia.

The next year, Rodrigo put on her presenter hat, as well as a more modest red carpet look. The "drivers license" singer looked classically cool in a dreamy little black Miu Miu dress. Semi-sheer panels atop its waist and skirt added just enough visual interest without stealing the show. To finish, Rodrigo traded diamonds for the cord necklace trend. (Jennifer Lawrence and the runway circuit wouldn't follow her lead until two years later.)

Chloe and Chenelle outdid themselves at the 2024 Grammys, when Rodrigo was up for six awards for Guts. She ended up on best-dressed lists galore for her archival Versace pull: a white Spring 1995 gown, stitched with red beadwork from top to bottom. It was originally modeled by Linda Evangelista, walking the runway eight years before Rodrigo was born.

Rodrigo's vintage Versace series continued at the 2025 Grammys with a cutout-heavy gown from the Spring 2000 collection. On the runway, it appeared in hot pink, but in black, the halter-neck slip read more timeless than overtly Y2K. Nearly $140,000 worth of Tiffany & Co. sparklers—all from the Victoria line—elevated the whole ensemble.

At just 22 years old (she turns 23 later this month), Rodrigo has already amassed an impressive Grammys style streak. If fans' suspicions prove correct and she is indeed teasing her third studio album, maybe we can look forward to a red carpet return in 2027.

For the past month, Teyana Taylor has been hard at work cementing her title as a fashion force, one red carpet at a time. The multi-hyphenate has been making the rounds promoting various projects, from One Battle After Another (for which she received her first Oscar nomination) to All’s Fair. Naturally, when it came time for the 2026 Grammy Awards, she came prepared to serve yet another look that will undoubtedly be engrained into the public consciousness.

Taylor is up for her first-ever Grammy, receiving a nom for Best R&B Album for her album ESCAPE ROOM. As always, the star stayed loyal to her signature daring sense of style: Ever the fan of naked dresses and red carpet thongs, she brought that same cheeky energy to the Grammys red carpet—"cheeky" being the operative word. Taylor's dazzling bronze Tom Ford gown featured an asymmetrical cut-out detail, which showed off much of her torso and a tasteful touch of booty.

Though her gown supplied a fair amount of sparkle all on its own, Taylor still chose to accessorize liberally with gold jewels, which matched her shining chromatic nails. She wore a pair of Tiffany & Co. Link earrings—a longstanding celeb favorite—and a lariat necklace from the same collection. The wrap-around style, which costs a cool $33,000, dangled almost to her belly button.

Regardless of tonight's outcome, fashion history was undoubtedly made.

January 20 brought wonderful news to Sabrina Carpenter fans far and wide: She would perform at the 2026 Grammy Awards after all. We knew she'd make an appearance during the show, as she's up for Song, Album, and Record of the Year—but half way through the ceremony, she gifted fans another award-worthy performance, with a notable outfit to boot.

In addition to curating her Valentino red carpet gown, stylist Jared Ellner transformed her into a high-fashion pilot for her performance during the ceremony. At the Sabrina Carpenter Airlines terminal, Carpenter belted out her nominated hit, "Manchild," in a sultry, all-white pilot-inspired look, beginning with a lace-up blazer and classic Carpenter-core short shorts. (The corset-like detail stretched onto her knee-high boots.) Extra points for her peekaboo bra, also in stark white. A bedazzled ascot necktie and a monogrammed "SCA" cap drove the performer's flirty 1960s air travel theme home.

Carpenter set a high bar for herself with last year's Grammys performance: a vaudevillian medley of "Please Please Please" and "Espresso," complete with a Broadway-style outfit change. She kicked off her set in a tuxedo mini dress, courtesy of Dolce & Gabbana—a surprisingly conservative choice for the saucy style muse. But she was simply creating suspense.

By the chorus, Carpenter stripped down to a baby blue corset bodysuit, its sweetheart neckline and exaggerated boning bedazzled with indigo Swarovski crystals. The strapless bustier was a perfect shade match to a feather-trimmed shawl, which became her dance partner. Once again, Christian Louboutin crafted custom, crystalized Mary Janes for Carpenter, just as the designer had for the Short n' Sweet tour.

All together, it became the performance to beat, even before Carpenter perfected her craft with 37 additional Short n' Sweet shows last year. Leading up to tonight's Grammys, she performed on Saturday Night Live, at the Brit Awards, and the 2025 MTV VMAs.

At the latter award show, she packed a mid-rainstorm dance break and an homage to Britney Spears into her allotted five-minute slot. Her live rendition of "Tears" was just as iconic as her music video for the song: It started with Carpenter climbing out of a literal manhole wearing a rhinestone fringed long-sleeve over a bedazzled bra and low-rise underwear-turned-pants, which got their close-up during the Spears-inspired section.

Outside of the Met Gala, it’s rare that we get a Hailey Bieber red carpet sighting these days. The mogul is far too busy running a thriving beauty empire to attend just any old event. But she made a rare exception for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

On Sunday, Feb. 1, Bieber showed out for the prestigious award show—her first appearance on its step-and-repeat since 2022. Still, she looked every bit the pro in a subtly sophisticated look.

Bieber attended in support of her husband, Justin Bieber. The singer has previously won Grammys for Best Dance Recording and Best Country Duo/Group Performance. This year, he's up for Best Album, Pop Vocal Album, Pop Solo Performance, and R&B Performance.

Hailey, meanwhile, always secures the title of Best Dressed. In 2022, she arrived in a strapless white Alaïa gown, while Justin opted for a gray Balenciaga suit, neon pink beanie, and platform Crocs.

This year, the couple employed the same outfit formula, with several modern upgrades. Justin, once again, opted for an overlarge suit by Balenciaga with exaggerated shoulder pads. Hailey, meanwhile, chose another hyper-minimalist strapless gown.

Where her previous number was flowy and satin, Bieber's 2026 look—another Alaïa creation—was of the fitted variety. There were no notable design details to be seen, save for a sizable mesh panel. The see-through detail did its part to offer a cheeky glimpse.

The Biebers chose simplistic looks, potentially to let the focal point of their outfits take the spotlight. No, not just the huge diamond necklaces that hung from their necks. Each wore a white pin emblazoned with the words "ICE OUT," quietly protesting ICE's violent occupation of Minneapolis.

A week out from the Super Bowl, Bad Bunny took a break from half-time rehearsals to attend the 2026 Grammys—and make some fashion news, while he was at it.

It's a big night for Benito: He's nominated in six categories for Debí Tirar Más Fotos—Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Música Urbana Album, Best Música Urbana Album, Best Global Music Performance, and Best Album Cover. He arrived to the Grammys red carpet in an elegant black velvet tuxedo, with a sharp nip at the waist, over a white shirt and black bow-tie, styled by Storm Pablo.

It wasn't only an immediate addition to everyone's best-dressed lists, it was a pretty notable credit: Bad Bunny is wearing Daniel Roseberry's first-ever menswear look for Schiaparelli. If the cinched waist didn't give it away, the corseted detail running across the back was a tell-tale sign of its provenance.

Another distinctively Schiaparelli feature? The subtle beaded embroidery along the lapel to mimic the look of a tape measure.

Bad Bunny has been attending the Latin Grammys since 2017. (Over the course of his career, he's received 17 awards and 52 nominations from the Latin Recording Academy.) He earned his first main show nomination—for Record of the Year—in 2019 for "I Like It," his collaboration with Cardi B and J. Balvin. He didn't make his Grammys red carpet debut, though, until two years later, in 2021, wearing Burberry by then-creative director Riccardo Tisci. (That also marked the first time he won: Best Latin Pop or Urban Album, for YHLQMDLG.)

Styled by Pablo, he went the monochromatic route in a peacoat, buttoned-up shirtdress, and knit beanie with ears, all in black. (His combat boots, also in black, were from Departamento.) He added a pop of color courtesy of his yellow-tinted Bonnie Clyde sunglasses and the sunflower he carried with him on the red carpet.

He also performed at the Grammys (another first for him) alongside Jhay Cortez in a metallic silver look made up of pieces from Comme des Garçons, Dries Van Noten vest, and 424.

Bad Bunny returned to the Grammys in 2023. He skipped the red carpet, instead opening the show in a familiar outfit formula, fit to perfection: a white Uniqlo T-shirt and light wash Levi’s 501 jeans.

After the performance, he changed into a similarly subdued outfit—a black suit with a white button-down, accessorized with a green Dodgers cap, worn backwards—to accept the award for Best Música Urbana Album for Un Verano Sin Ti.

As pop-culture obsessives, the best part of the award show (aside from the performances by our favorite icons) is the commentary from fellow music fans. Tonight, the world’s most popular recording artists have gathered at L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena, where host Trevor Noah will lead the ceremony for the final time. The red carpet brought the night’s first buzzy moments, with Doechii taking us back to the ‘90s in Roberto Cavalli and Sabrina Carpenter pairing dreamy blush with her boho-chic gown. Now that the main event’s set to begin, we’re just moments away from Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Tyler, the Creator, and Justin Bieber’s returns to the Grammys stage, along with the performance debuts of Clipse, ROSÉ, and this year’s Best New Artists nominees—Addison Rae, Alex Warren, KATSEYE, Leon Thomas, Lola Young, Olivia Dean, SOMBR, and The Marías—among others.

Speaking of nominees, superstars like Bad Bunny (DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS) and Kendrick Lamar (GNX) are vying to make history in the Album of the Year category, where they go up against Clipse (Let God Sort ‘Em Out), Gaga (Mayhem), Bieber (Swag), Carpenter (Man’s Best Friend), Leon Thomas (Mutt), and Tyler, the Creator (Chromakopia). With Thomas, Kehlani, FKA Twigs, and HUNTR/X already taking home wins in this afternoon’s Premiere Ceremony, this year’s awards have already gotten off to an excellent start.

It’s Music’s Biggest Night, baby! Although I must say, going into this Grammys has been interesting because it doesn’t feel like there’s necessarily that clear a narrative this year. Last year was all about “the pop girls” (Beyoncé! Billie Eilish! Chappell Roan! Charli xcx! Sabrina Carpenter! Taylor Swift!) sweeping nominations, and the anticipation of whether Queen Bey would finally snag her Album of the Year title for COWBOY CARTER (which she inevitably and rightfully did!). This year is more of a toss-up, though.

However, I think one thing to look out for is whether this becomes Bad Bunny’s big year, which I certainly think is possible and would love to see. He’s won in the Best Música Urbana Album and Best Latin Pop or Urban Album categories and was nominated for Album of the Year in 2023 for Un Verano Sin Ti, but this could be the first year he wins big. The stellar DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS and its hit “DtMF” are up for the big three categories—Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. He’s already made history as the first Spanish-language artist to be nominated in the categories at once, and, if he wins Album of the Year, he’ll reach another milestone with the first Spanish-language album to do so. DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS is his best yet, immensely colorful sonically, and a compelling piece of anti-colonialist art. Plus, a winning streak from him would be powerful to see right now, given how the Puerto Rican hitmaker has long spoken out about what we gain by bringing people together and the efforts he’s made protecting his international fanbase against ICE and division. Benito, I’m rooting for you!

It’ll also be interesting to see how the Best New Artist category unfolds. The Recording Academy loves to honor artists with an old-school flair, like Olivia Dean and Leon Thomas (I think Olivia Dean will likely take the title), but I would love to see Addison Rae win. She’s arguably made the most daring, innovative choices of the nominees—and arguably of anyone in pop over the past year—and arrived fully formed as a recording artist with her dance-pop fantasia Addison. Her performance is my (and every other club rat’s) most anticipated of the night, and I feel certain the showgirl is going to deliver. That’s my best new artist. —Sadie Bell, Senior Culture Editor

I agree that 2026 is likely Bad Bunny’s year, and his potential win would be part of hip-hop’s biggest Grammy year in recent history. Along with Bunny’s genre-bending reggaeton record, three rap albums are nominated for Album of the Year: Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, Clipse’s Let God Sort ‘Em Out, and Tyler, the Creator’s Chromakopia. Hip-hop heads like me have our best chance in a decade of a third rap Album of the Year, joining The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. (Yes, there have only been three in the past 67 years.)

I also have more excitement for the performances this year than I’ve felt in a while. The Best New Artist medley was my highlight of last year, and I’m hoping its return will feature an Olivia Dean/KATSEYE hand-off that will give me as much life as the RAYE/Doechii one did. Lauryn Hill’s D’Angelo tribute is guaranteed to bring me to tears. That’s not to mention Lady Gaga, Tyler, the Creator, and ROSÉ bringing K-pop back to the main ceremony!

Also, this may be a controversial opinion, but I like that the Grammys have become an opportunity for a pop superstar to announce a new release. Maybe Bruno Mars could debut a new single off The Romantic. Perhaps the night’s “additional surprise presenter”(ahem, Beyoncé, is that you?) will tease their next act? Maybe BTS will take a break from their social-media pause to promote Arirang? All of these are long shots, but it’s the Grammys! Let a girl dream. —Quinci LeGardye, Culture Writer

Sabrina Carpenter had a big performance to top after last year’s Old Hollywood screwball comedy debut—and she stuck the landing. You can tell she has a total blast on stage, and this year she delivered an adorable, theatrical showstopper of her four-time-nominated “Manchild,” set in a bustling airport. Plus, Pan Am-inspired look! We were on board with this one. —SB

The Best Moments From the Pre-Ceremony

The Grammys famously only air a handful of the awards during the live ceremony, dishing out most gramophones during the pre-show. But that doesn’t mean there weren’t wins worth paying attention to, even if they didn’t make the broadcast. I was thrilled to see avant-pop auteur FKA twigs finally getting her flowers, with her phenomenal EUSEXUA winning Best Dance/Electronic Album. Another well-deserved win? Amy Allen won Songwriter of the Year for the second year in a row, thanks to her collaborations with Sabrina Carpenter, ROSÉ, Tate McRae, and others. With songwriter/producer opportunities for women in the studio still being few and far between, we love to see Allen’s work getting recognition.

Plus, as an indie/DIY fan, I personally also love that hardcore experimentalists Turnstile have become somewhat of Grammys darlings ever since their 2021 album GLOW ON propelled them to new heights. They won Best Rock Album for NEVER ENOUGH and Best Metal Performance for its single “BIRDS,” and I’m always for The Recording Academy embracing genre-bending guitar music (rather than exclusively honoring legacy acts, as they’ve done in the past). —SB

Some pre-ceremony wins that I’m celebrating: Kehlani is finally a Grammy winner! The singer took home Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance for “Folded,” a decade after her first-ever nomination in 2016. Some of my other R&B faves who took home awards include Leon Thomas’s MUTT for Best R&B Album and Durand Bernarr’s BLOOM for Best Progressive R&B Album. Also, the team behind KPop Demon Hunters continued their awards-season sweep, with “Golden” winning Best Song Written for Visual Media. —QL

Leave it to our resident gonzo pop princess Addison Rae to bring camp to the Grammys. It was all too fitting for her to perform her Addison album standout “Fame Is a Gun,” a song about the price of ambition, on the awards show stage. She sang in a bedazzled trench with a troupe of dancers backstage, leaning into her skill as a true performer with a captivating dance break. I think I gasped, “Oh, my god,” several times—which is exactly what we want from our pop girls! She may have just gotten a “taste of the glamorous life,” but may this be her first of many Grammys to come. —SB

KATSEYE cemented their place as the girl group to watch with their performance of “Gnarly,” which took viewers through the venue to the Grammys stage. The sextet brought their signature high-energy performance, including synchronized twerking in front of vanity mirrors backstage, and a frenetic dance break with jaw-dropping splits. As someone who binged Pop Star Academy on Netflix in a single day, it was hard not to get emotional about how far the pop princesses have come. —QL

One star-making moment of the night? Olivia Dean’s set right into her big win for Best New Artist. Her vocals sounded pristine while she performed her mega-hit “Man I Need,” and she brought sheer charisma to the stage. Maybe it’s the old-school, soulful flair of her sound, but she felt like a musical legend of yesteryear up on the stage. That made all the more sense when moments later, last year’s Best New Artist winner, Chappell Roan, revealed that the British singer-songwriter had earned this year’s gramophone.

Dean herself was surprised, making a humble speech and taking the opportunity to speak out in support of immigrants. “I guess I want to say I'm up here as a granddaughter of an immigrant,” she said. “I'm a product of bravery, and I think those people deserve to be celebrated.” Amen to that—and to Dean’s well-deserved win. —SB

​​I think Justin Bieber may have felt he had a lot riding on this Grammys performance. He hasn’t taken to the awards show’s stage since 2022 and has seldom performed in general over the past few years. And yet, he made his grand, long-awaited return to the spotlight in 2025 with the release of SWAG, and he’ll be headlining Coachella in April. It felt like this performance may have been a tease of what to come—and to prove he’s still got it. Walking out on stage shirtless, in boxer shorts, with solely a guitar, he might’ve left viewers questioning what was to come. But singing a stripped-down “YUKON,” he highlighted what’s always been his strength: his swoon-worthy vocals. By the end, he definitely left us feeling Bieber fever.

As Bad Bunny took home the award for Best Música Urbana Album, he delivered the speech we all need to hear right now. Whenever Lady Gaga steps onstage, I lose any ability to look away. For her live rock remix of “Abracadabra,” Mother Monster skipped the intricate choreography for a close-up performance from herself and her band. Outfitted in a rattan headpiece with an eye-shaped cutout surrounding her face in lashes, Gaga sang directly to the camera, starring it down as it moved from angle to angle. The captivating performance led right into the singer’s third win on the night, as MAYHEM took home Best Pop Vocal Album.

After thanking her partner Michael Polansky and her producers, Gaga shared a message for women in music. “I know sometimes when you're in the studio with a bunch of guys, it can be hard,” she said. “So, I urge you to always listen to yourself and always fight for your ideas, fight for your songs, fight for yourself as a producer. Make sure you are heard loudly.” —QL

Our nicest surprise of the night so far goes to Lola Young, who took home Best Pop Solo Performance for "Messy." We couldn't really hear the speech due to the live censoring, but her unfiltered shock was adorable. —QL

If we didn’t get a performance from Bad Bunny, at least we got a truly adorable bit from Trevor Noah about how much we wished we got a performance from Bad Bunny! Throughout the night, the host negged Benito about why he wasn’t taking to the stage; he’s saving it for the Super Bowl Halftime Show next weekend, NBD. Eventually, Noah joked about how it’s his last time hosting the Grammys and that he should’ve taken more photos over the years—just like the lyrics of Bad Bunny’s multi-nominated “DtMF.” Noah started serenading Bad Bunny, who finally cracked and gave us a verse as a band came out to back them up. Benito is such a charmer, so seeing him grin, play along with the bit, and give in to it had me giddy, kicking my feet. Take that energy all the way to the Halftime Show! —SB

A confession: Tyler, the Creator’s Chromokopia is my personal pick for Album of the Year, and his high-concept performance may be my biggest highlight of the night. After his St. Chroma alter ego started off with a performance of “Thought I Was Dead,” the rapper appeared on another part of the stage, listening to some sage advice from his fellow L.A. native, Oscar winner Regina King. Then, after (accidentally?) mowing down St. Chroma with a Ferrari, Tyler began a rendition of “Sugar on My Tongue,” from his second nominated album of the night, Don’t Tap the Glass. Tyler’s partying through the chaos ended with him accidentally blowing up the St. Chroma gas station, closing the chapter on Chromakopia and preparing his fans for a new era. —QL

Tonight's joint tribute to D'Angelo and Roberta Flack was instantly a major moment in Grammys history. Despite the jokes and doubts, Ms. Lauryn Hill led the “deeply-personal” tribute, starting off with her and D’Angelo’s duet “Nothing Even Matters.” Hill later paid homage to her lifelong influence by singing Flack’s “The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face,” before ending the performance alongside her Fugees bandmate Wyclef Jean, as the pair performed both Flack’s and their own renditions of “Killing Me Softly With His Song.”

Hill was joined onstage by over a dozen other artists, both talented up-and-comers and R&B legends. From Leon Thomas and Lucky Daye to Bilal, Raphael Saddiq, Lalah Hathaway, Chaka Khan, and many more, the tribute was a celebration of soul that had me fighting back tears as I sang along. —QL

The Grammys teased a surprise presenter, and as it turned out, they weren’t just a presenter—they were also a Lifetime Achievement award winner. Cher ended up presenting Record of the Year, but before she did, she accepted her honor to a standing ovation and applause from the elated crowd. Forever glamorous and inspiring, the true icon (dressed in a leather-and-lace ensemble, no less) shared words of wisdom from her career spanning “50 fucking years,” speaking to both the highs and lows.

“In my 20s, actually, I kind of thought I had it made. It didn't occur to me how rough my career was gonna be, and my life was gonna be, and I'm not saying, Oh, poor me,” she said. “I was either on the top or the bottom, you know? I was either a loser or winning an Oscar.”

“I’m sure a lot of you in the audience know what I'm talking about,” continued the hitmaker. “In the early 80s, it got so bad that I had to go to Las Vegas, and it was called the Elephant's Graveyard in those days, and then I got dropped from my label, and then another label picked me up, and I recorded a song called ‘Believe.’”

She concluded, “I just wanna tell you never give up on your dream, no matter what happens. Live it, be it, and if it's not happening now, it will happen soon.”

The kids love to call our pop divas “mother,” but that’s mother right there! Her walking off stage before actually presenting the Record of the Year title made it all the more incrediblet While she could’ve mic-dropped right then, but our gracious queen did turn back around—although not without voicing her annoyance at how not all the text was on the teleprompter. 10/10 Grammys moment. I would expect no less from Cher.

Did I tear up the moment presenter Harry Styles announced Bad Bunny won the prestigious Album of the Year award for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS? Yes! Did I fully start crying when he started tearing up and was so stunned he couldn’t get up to the Grammys stage? I sure did! It truly felt like his year and the honor couldn’t have felt more deserved.

In winning the award, the musician made history with the first Spanish-language album to take home the honor. It felt especially touching that he made most of his acceptance speech in Spanish, as well, thanking everyone who contributed to the album and expressing his love for Puerto Rico. “I want to dedicate this award to all the people that had to leave their homeland, their country to follow their dreams,” he added.

What a special moment to cap off the awards show—and a thrilling send-off to his highly anticipated Super Bowl appearance next week. —SB

The 2026 Grammys have officially come to an end. A lil’ recap of the wins and historic moments: Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS is officially the first all-Spanish-language album to win Album of the Year. With his five trophies tonight, including Best Rap Album for GNX” and Record of the Year for his and SZA’s “luther,” Kendrick Lamar is now the most-awarded hip-hop artist in Grammys history. Meanwhile, Billie Eilish and Finneas became the first artists to win Song of the Year three times, after taking home the prize for “Wildflower.” Other artists who earned major awards at this year’s ceremony include Olivia Dean (Best New Artist), Lady Gaga (Best Pop Vocal Album - MAYHEM), and Lola Young (Best Pop Solo Performance - “Messy”).

Perhaps most importantly, several artists throughout today’s premiere and primetime ceremonies spoke out against the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. Bad Bunny, Eilish, Dean, and country artist Shaboozey—who won Best Country Duo/Group Performance for his and Jelly Roll’s duet “Amen”—all took time to honor immigrants and call out ICE. Offstage, many celebs wore “ICE Out” pins while walking the red carpet, including Eilish and Finneas, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Jack Antonoff, Brandi Carlile, and Samara Joy.

This is Gaga we’re talking about—a woman who wears meat dresses, shows up in Jo Calderone drag, and performs in Aphrodite bikinis. Mother Monster doesn’t take the expected or easy red carpet route—and yet, she always tops the best-dressed list.

Styled by Nick Royal and Peri Rosenzweig of Hard Style, Gaga hit the 2026 Grammys red carpet wearing a Matières Fécales gown covered from top to toe in black feathers, which wouldn't look out of place in a Darren Aronofsky film. The silhouette fanned up and around her face, trailed down her torso, peaking out at the hips in a subtle peplum shape, and then gathered to the floor in a mermaid shape. Her feather train was bolstered with black tulle, upping the ante and visual drama of Gaga's Grammy dress even more.

Gaga went without accessories, save for her engagement ring from fiancé Michael Polansky.

Gaga's 2026 Grammys look was gothic, slightly spooky, and extremely high fashion—a perfect match for her Mayhem aesthetic. Remember Björk's iconic swan dress? Well, here's Gaga's take.

Gaga is up for seven trophies tonight—the second-most of any nominee, tied with producers Jack Antonoff and Cirkut—including Album of the Year for Mayhem and Record and Song of the Year for its single “Abracadabra.” The singer will also take the stage at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, joining performers such as Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lauryn Hill.

Last year marked her first Grammy Awards since the 2022 ceremony—and she came dressed to celebrate her three-year comeback. Gaga walked the 2025 Grammys red carpet in a corseted, peak-shoulder leather jacket and full ball skirt by Australia-Taiwanese designer Samuel Lewis.

Dressed top-to-toe in jewels by Tiffany & Co., she wore the jewelry house’s archival necklace designed by Meta Overbeck under the direction of Louis Comfort that dates back to the early 1930s and is finished with tourmaline, pearl, and onyx. Yellow gold and platinum earrings with yellow and white diamonds and a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany & Co. Sixteen Stone ring featuring diamonds and tsavorites were her final sparkling touches.

Cut to an hour or so later, and Gaga switched up vibes completely. Performing “Die With a Smile” with co-singer Bruno Mars on the Grammys stage, the pop icon changed into a soft yellow dress from Alessandro Michele’s Valentino Spring 2025 collection featuring cool blue and brown flowers, a black bow belt, and sheer balloon sleeves.

Those familiar with the fashion designer's work will note that Gaga’s gown is quintessential of his retro-inspired aesthetic. Remember when Harry Styles wore lace collars and fashion girls went to Fashion Week in bug-eyed sunnies like your grandma wore in the '50s? That was Michele at Gucci.

If there's one thing Chappell Roan will do at the 68th annual Grammy Awards taking place Sunday, February 1, it's make the look her playground. Stepping onto the red carpet with her signature fire-red hair and a barely-there, sheer Mugler dress, Roan delivered what's already shaping up to be one of, if not the most, talked-about moments of the night. That tracks, considering tonight, she arrives not only as a presenter, but as a double nominee—up for Record of the Year and Pop Solo Performance for "The Subway."

The beauty, however, was deliberately restrained—and that was entirely the point. Created by go-to artist Andrew Dahling in partnership with MAC Cosmetics, where Roan serves as the Global Brand Ambassador, the makeup was designed to honor the dress and the story embedded in the look rather than compete with it, Dahling tells MC.

"We started with this very archival, full, bare moment," Dahling says. "Once the tattoos came into play, everything became very medieval, but in a real way. It's still fantasy and something otherworldly, but grounded."

Rather than leaning into the exaggerated glam Roan is often known for, Dahling approached the makeup as a supporting character—one that allowed the intricate faux tattoos, jewelry, and sculptural details to take center stage. "There was so much going on—the tattoos, the prosthetic nipples, all of it, but overall we wanted everything to feel cohesive and really honor the dress and the medieval world we were living in," he says. "The glam came from that."

To strike the balance, Dahling opted for a smokey, sultry eye that felt intentionally dialed down for her. "We still wanted to bring some Chappell and some glam to it, so we added a little bit of MAC metallic liner detail just to bring some pop and some glamour and glitz to her eyes to tie in with the jewelry." And for the lips? Dahling labels them as a "nude-red." (Likely a trend that street style will draw inspiration from through the rest of winter.)

"This makeup may be a little underwhelming and unexpected for her fans who expect something extremely intense," Dahling admits. "But it was about honoring the history, the designer, and the direction Genesis (her stylist) created. We wanted to let other elements of the look shine."

Naturally, one look simply wouldn't cut it. The Midwest Princess switched things up over the course of the evening, wearing an angelic draped gown. As for her glam? “We’re using shadow sticks and dazzle shadows and lavender blush. It’s giving drama, but in a very quick, cool-girl way.”

The second look leans into contrast through light and dimension. “It’s about shape to the eyes—glamour, glitz, metallics in strategic places to make her eyes pop,” Dahling explains. “Cool tones, lots of cool tones—lavenders.”

It’s official: the era of the bob is actually coming to an end. On Feb. 1, practically all of Hollywood descended upon the Crypto.com Arena for the 68th annual Grammy Awards, where a select group of Hollywood’s biggest musical artists will take home one of the coveted gramophone trophies. While this award show is, in a nutshell, a celebration of the auditory arts, my eyes are focused on an entirely different display of creativity: the hairstyles.

​While the Grammys red carpet is only just starting to heat up, there are enough arrivals to make one thing crystal clear tonight: Hollywood is over the bob. Left and right, celebrities like Kehlani, Zara Larsson, and even Tyla have all revealed some stunning hairstyles tonight, and they’re all sporting some serious length.

Kehlani, one of tonight’s early winners, opted for jet black waves, which she paired with a simple side part, allowing her gorgeous soft glam makeup to take center stage. Larsson followed suit, pairing her blonde strands with a sparkling green gown. Singer Coco Jones arrived on the carpet with a long bob, with the ends of her hair resting just below her shoulders, bucking the short length of the traditional haircut, while retaining the sharp edge that it has become known for. Even Sabrina Carpenter is letting her layers frame her face, revealing that her shorter-looking hairstyle is actually her long hair tucked into a low, elegantly messy ponytail.

There is no one—not a single soul on earth—doing it like Doechii. In a mile-long, '90s-inspired Roberto Cavalli gown on the 2026 Grammy Awards red carpet, the Swamp Princess made that crystal clear.

Considering she's up for five awards at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards—including Song of the Year and Best Rap Performance—stylist Sam Woolf dressed Doechii like the heavy-hitting champion that she is.

The rapper's 2026 Grammys red carpet gown featured a chocolate brown, sheer lace bodice with criss-cross ties that morphed into an eggplant satin bustle that trailed behind her. Gold rivets and embellishments flecked throughout Doechii's gown, adding sparkle that complemented her high-shine satin. In an interview with the Academy's fashion correspondents, the rapper said her look was inspired by Roberto Cavalli's work from 1996 to 2001, and she and Woolf's goals were "earthy, grounded, goddess-like."

Doechii's Grammy gown was accented with Chopard jewelry, including purple flower drop earrings and a large, matching statement (emphasis on statement) ring.

Doechii will also present the Best Rap Album award tonight in honor of taking home last year’s trophy for the phenomenal Alligator Bites Never Heal. You might recall her acceptance speech at the 2025 Grammys, where she touched on the history-making component of her win: “This category was introduced in 1989, and two women have won: Lauryn Hill—three women have won!" she corrected herself. "Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii."

In addition to winning her first-ever Grammy and bestowing one of the best performances in the award show’s history upon the world, the rapper also gave a fashion tour de force last year in five custom Thom Browne looks.

Doechii hit the 2025 Grammys red carpet in an off-the-shoulder, charcoal-gray pinstripe gown with peaked hips and corseting down the back, which she wore over a white Oxford button-down shirt with Browne’s signature red, white, and blue armband. Naturally, a matching striped necktie polished off her prespter look.

Keeping with the theme of fine tailoring and prep-centric style, Doechii took to the Grammy stage to perform "Catfish" and "Denial Is a River" in a Bermuda short suit, knee socks, and black Derby loafers. One minute into the show, her backup dancers pulled off Doechii’s blazer and bottoms to reveal a bra and panty set finished with Browne’s iconic red-white-and-blue stripes. (If you somehow missed Doechii’s performance last year, do yourself a favor and give it a watch.)

To accept her first (and likely not last) Grammy, Doechii then changed into high-waisted gray pannier trousers, a short raglan-sleeve jacket, and another button-down and necktie. The sculptural look was, without question, her most dramatic of the night, and a fitting accompaniment to mark the historic moment for the then-up-and-comer.

That leaves her final outfit change of the evening. Post-show, Doechii returned to the red carpet in one last Browne ensemble, which looked like an amalgamation of her other four. With her new megaphone trophy in hand, she grinned ear to ear in a gray and white pinstripe corseted gown with a tucked-under bubble skirt, which she wore over—surprise, surprise— another white button-down and necktie.

Doechii, thank you—not only for the fantastic, singular music and art you make, but also for the fashion excellence you give us fans.

Tonight marks Katseye’s first-ever Grammy Awards. And though the girl group is fairly new to the award show circuit, they came prepared to make their collective mark on best dressed lists.

Nominated in two categories—Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance—Katseye proved their staying power in meticulously coordinated Ludovic de Saint Sernin looks. Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Manon Bannerman, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeung made their Grammys red carpet debut in a series of floor-length lace and rhinestone-embellished gowns that were similar, but not overly matchy-matchy. Instead, each of the six stars sported varying necklines and some version of Saint Sernin's signature leather lace-up detail.

Making their own contribution to the 2016 fashion takeover, both Jeung and Skiendiel accessorized with glitzy choker necklaces—a jewelry trend that's been largely unseen on recent red carpets. Others, meanwhile, wore dangling earrings or stacks of crystal-encrusted bangles.

Though recent beauty conversations have primarily centered ultra-cropped bobs, Katseye dedicated themselves fully to the mermaid hair agenda. Every member sported waist-length hair and center parts, making the group look like a pack of enchanted sirens.

This may be their first Grammys, but the girls of Katseye are serving with the best of them.

The Grammy Awards love Chappell Roan. And considering the eight-time nominee and one-time winner hit the 2026 Grammy Awards red carpet in a totally sheer custom Mugler dress with built-in faux nipple rings—easily the biggest statement of the night—the feeling is clearly mutual.

Up for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “The Subway", the pop maverick and her long-time stylist Genesis Webb knew tonight warranted a head-turner. So, for her red carpet look at the 2026 Grammy, they went for what fashion staff writer Meguire Hennes described in our editors' group chat as "the nakedest naked dress I've ever seen." Her burgundy red sheer Mugler dress was clipped and delicately hung from, well, her nipples and cascaded down onto the floor.

Of course, Chappell brought her distinct Midwest Princess theatrics to the red carpet; initially, she arrived in a matching red sheer sheath, which she theatrically removed for the full reveal of her diaphanous dress.

Speaking of reveals: When Roan turned around, she gave the cameras a peek at a massive, medieval-inspired back tattoo, plus a princess tattoo placed in the iconic "tramp stamp" location.

Roan worked with her go-to makeup artist, Andrew Dahling, in partnership with MAC, for her glam, consisting of a light smokey eye, peachy blush, and nude glossy lip.

Roan's custom sheer, nipple-ring dress is an archival Mugler design, first debuted on its Spring 1998 Couture runway by Belgian model Erica Vanbriel. The brand's newly appointed creative director, Castro Freitas, revived the see-through, nipple-first design on the Spring 2026 runway, likely putting the risqué design back on Roan and Webb's radar.

Roan’s look for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards joins her already well-established archive of phenomenal red carpet looks. Last year’s ceremony alone—her first ever—was a testament to her and Webb’s wizardry as a style duo: Roan arrived at the 2025 Grammy Awards in a ball gown from Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring 2003 couture collection, constructed of cool blue and canary yellow tulle featuring an illustration of the late master painter Edgar Degas’s “Dancer With a Bouquet.” It was accented with nests of sticks, blue flowers, and fruit ornaments along the neckline, waist, and bust. Lastly, the "The Giver” singer chose a matching feathered headdress—the authentic piece from the original collection—custom John Fluevog tall buckle boots, and sheer opera gloves to polish off her look.

On the live red carpet pre-show, E!'s fashion correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi said that Webb had the JPG look on her vision board for 10 years, and once she procured it for Roan, she "slept with it in her room because it’s that precious.”

Once inside, Roan changed into her second look of the evening: a custom Thom Browne ensemble comprising a denim-blue wool-and-silk cropped jacket with exposed shoulder pads, a blue corded lace corset, and a hand-pleated asymmetrical petticoat. It was theatrical, exquisite quality, and carried a strong sense of camp—all attributes that work to describe the one-of-one pop star, too.

But the fashion fun didn’t stop there. The Midwest Princess later performed “Pink Pony Club” on the Grammy’s stage in a rodeo clown-inspired look. The custom bronze Zana Bayne bodysuit and gloves boasted Western-inspired silver studs and buckles, which went nicely with the brown and metallic Steve Madden cowboy boots.

Annnnnd we’re not done. Cut to a handful of minutes later, and there Roan was, accepting the Grammy for Best New Artist in a pale pistachio, bow-adorned Acne Studios dress from the brand’s Spring 2025 collection. Lest we forget her topper: a yellow Piers Atkinson hennin, a fancy word for the cone-shaped headwear worn by European noblewomen during the 15th century.

Some would say Roan is still an industry newbie. Those who’ve been following her since her YouTube days—when she was posting using her given name, Kayleigh Rose—would say her fame is a long-time coming. On the fashion front, however, it’s indisputable: Miss “H-O-T-T-O-G-O” is a certified red carpet legend, up there with the greats.

The Best New Artist category at the 2026 Grammy Awards is stacked with up-and-coming stars, including Addison Rae, KATSEYE, Olivia Dean, and more. The latter singer, however, isn't so much "new" as she is finally getting her flowers. See her black-and-white Chanel gown on the red carpet. Does Dean look like a newbie to you?

Dean's fans have left comments like "you can tell her stylist loves her" on her performance look pics for months, but Simone Beyene's adoration was clear on Sunday inside L.A.'s Crypto.com Arena. First-time nominee Dean arrived in custom Chanel crafted just for her by creative director Matthieu Blazy. Every element—from the sequin bodice to the ballgown-like skirt—was just as romantic as her Grammy-nominated album, The Art of Loving. Classic Chanel by Blazy feathers around her drop waist (seen in all three of his runway shows) married the black top and white pleated skirt. What started as a high-low hem flared into a bustled train, which Dean flaunted during her step-and-repeat.

Sure, Dean isn't a Grammy regular (yet), but she's been preparing for this moment since her debut album, Messy, in 2023. She and Beyene crafted her signature aesthetic—think romantic, '70s-inspired London girl glamour—at only a handful of award shows over the years. 2025, however, was when the Olivia Dean Look finally stuck.

She scored an invite to the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards last November, not just to walk the red carpet, but perform, too. Before surprising fellow guests Jennifer Lawrence, Teyana Taylor, and Rihanna with an acoustic rendition of "So Easy (To Fall In Love)," she posed for photographers in a custom Thom Browne shift dress.

Butter yellow, cummerbund-inspired satin strips stretched from the strapless, straight-across necklace, beyond a lace-up corset, to the severe floor-grazing hem. Cartier diamonds elevated Dean's red-carpet look to five-figure status (if her bespoke Thom Browne didn't put it there first).

Two weeks later, Dean returned to the red carpet, this time for Australia's 2025 ARIA Awards. Her custom Robert Quinn ballgown had a certain vintage-y charm to it, thanks to the oversize rosette-topped bow, the drop-waist bodice, and the high-low, bubble-hemmed skirt. Dean's accessories—though understated—leaned into the dress's nostalgia. She traded a necklace for four-figure best-sellers from Cartier's circa-1969 Love collection.

Once it came time to perform "Man I Need," Dean took center stage at the ARIAs not in the Adele-ish gown, but a fringed gold dress straight out of the '70s. Flat metallic sequins added movement to the spaghetti-strap Rachel Gilbert mini, before three tiers of beaded fringe decorated the thigh-length hem. It complemented Dean's same Cartier jewelry seen on the red carpet.

Not only does Dean's music make you want to dance, her award show looks do, too. Her 2026 Grammy Awards gown is proof: Her sartorial joy is infectious.

It may not be her first time at the Grammys (and it likely won't be her last), but Addison Rae walked the red carpet for the first time as a nominee on Sunday night. And in a custom Alaïa gown, she looked the part.

Styled by Dara Allen, Rae arrived in what will likely be one of Pieter Mulier's last award show moments as creative director of the house. (The brand announced on Friday morning that the Belgian designer will be departing Alaïa after five years at its helm.)

The plunging white gown, with a curved neckline that reached below her belly button, riffed off the tulip-like pannier skirts that close in around the ankle seen on Alaïa's Spring 2026 runway. When she turned around, Rae revealed that the skirt featured a reverse-high/low hem: much shorter in the back, to allow for some cheeky poses. She finished the look with matching white pumps.

"I just wanted something that made me feel really beautiful, and I feel really beautiful," she told E! on the red carpet. The look confirms what she told us in her debut album, Addison: She'd rather get high fashion.

Rae's up for Best New Artist at the 2026 Grammy Awards, recognized for her self-titled debut album. She and the other nominees in the category will also be performing on stage at the Crypto.com Arena.

She's only attended the event once, in 2022, when her then-boyfriend Omer Fedi was nominated for his work on Lil Nas X's Montero. She made her Grammys red carpet debut in Nili Lotan's signature silk Cami Gown, with oversized silver bangles stacked on both wrists.

That look may have been more understated, but Rae's style has evolved as she has come into her own as an artist, often paying homage to those who have inspired her and her music. (See: the Madonna-coded Jean Paul Gaultier x Lotta Volkova cone bra she wore to Variety's 2024 Power of Young Hollywood event.) She started collaborating with stylist and model Dara Allen on both her public appearances and her projects; their first event together was the 2024 MTV VMAs red carpet, where she wore a custom white Miss Claire Sullivan bra and underwear set with a tutu train. Since then, Rae has embraced a mix of established luxury brands (think Rick Owens, Thom Browne, and Alberta Ferretti) and emerging labels (like Di Petsa, Lucila Safdie, and Giovanna Flores), plus archival collections.

Back in August—a few months before nominations were announced—she appeared at an artist spotlight event at the Grammy Museum, where she performed and spoke on a panel alongside collaborators Elvira Anderfjard and Luka Kloser wearing the opening look from Rodarte's Spring 2012 collection. The off-the-shoulder, knee-length yellow dress featured a print inspired by Vincent van Gogh's sunflower paintings. (The whole collection was inspired by the Dutch painter's work.) Rae swapped the silver platform heels worn on the runway for her signature beige Louboutins.

Believe it or not, Sabrina Carpenter isn't a Grammy Awards veteran: She actually made her debut at the show in 2025, a full decade after she released her first studio album. On February 1, Carpenter returned to the red carpet for the 2026 Grammy looking every bit a regular.

With six Grammy nominations this year—ranging from Album of the Year to Song of the Year—stylist Jared Ellner knew all eyes would be on Carpenter. So, he worked with Valentino to create a bespoke white gown with understated nakedness.

Nude underlay lined the entire floor-length look, beginning with an intricately-beaded floral bodice. Short, cape-like sleeves gave the Alessandro Michele design a surprising boho-chic feel, perhaps inspired by Man's Best Friend tracks like "My Man On Willpower" and "Sugar Talking." Partially transparent tiered ruffles covered the skirt—zoom in to appreciate each layer's pearl polka dots, which decorated Carpenter's sleeve-shawl hybrid, too.

Carpenter is building quite the impressive Grammys look book. (At this rate, she'll have one to rival Lady Gaga's before her 30s.) Contrary to her flirty, everyday and on-stage outfits, her 2025 Grammys gown awoke her glamorous, Old Hollywood-inspired side: Designed by Jonathan Anderson (a.k.a. Dior's creative director) for his own label, J.W. Anderson, the halter-neck design featured a nostalgic feather trim lining the drop waist and flared hem. She worked with stylist Andrew Mukamal on the look, which still felt Carpenter-coded to a T. (Its soft shade of baby blue has been the singer's signature since 2024's Short n' Sweet era.)

The vintage-inspired cherry on top of Carpenter's cake was the dress's strap-necklace hybrid, made up of nearly 70 carats of Chopard diamonds that looped through the satin bodice before cascading down her entirely open back. All eyes went to the chain's 50-carat pear-shaped pendant, courtesy of the jeweler's Garden of Kalahari collection.

What began as an homage to fellow blonde bombshell Shirley Maclaine in 1964's What a Way to Go! transformed into a full-blown red carpet trend. Similar styles frosted the backs of Margaret Qualley and Michelle Yeoh at the 2025 Oscars, as well as Taylor Russell and Ariana Greenblatt at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

Carpenter accepted both of her Grammys in another, equally-glamorous gown, this time by Atelier Versace. The strapless bustier dress's metallic gold rhinestones sparkled just as much as her trophies, especially on the Crypto.com Arena's stage. Once again, Chopard loaned the "Espresso" singer a diamond drop necklace, stud earrings, and a statement ring.

It may have been her first Grammys, but Carpenter already got plenty of sartorial practice before walking the red carpet last year. She's been attending numerous pre- and post-ceremony soirées since 2019.

In 2023, Carpenter RSVP'd "yes" to Universal Music Group's after-party. Her crop top and cutout-heavy Giuseppe Di Morabito set ended up on best-dressed lists galore. Three-dimensional silver flowers atop the skirt's side slit elevated the year's rosette trend.

The rosette motif resurfaced on Carpenter's little black dress at Clive Davis's 2024 Pre-Grammy Gala. The pop star stole the show in a turtleneck, cap-sleeve gown from David Koma, with a rhinestoned rose at the waist, sitting atop a thigh-high slit.

At the time, Carpenter was still months away from establishing the aesthetic you know and love her for today. Once "Espresso" dropped in April 2024, the babydoll minis, hot pants, and micro-mini skirts took over. Now, with her style as recognizable as her music, Carpenter's Grammy Award gowns will only get more fabulous from here.

When it comes to music royalty, there are few people in the same stratosphere as Joni Mitchell. The award-winning singer-songwriter graced us with her presence at the 68th annual Grammy Awards on February 1st, looking like a vision in gold—a nod, perhaps, to her previous 11 wins at the ceremony. She's up for an award tonight for Best Historical Album for Joni Mitchell Archives − Vol. 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980), but truthfully, it was her stunning red lip that won the evening.

"Joni loves a pop of color on her lips," her makeup artist, Loren Canby, tells me over the phone. "She loves rosy tones, and she has beautiful blue eyes, [so] she wants her makeup to enhance her, but to still look like her." Canby used Merit products to achieve Mitchell's red carpet look, and the Merit Signature Lip in Vermillion, a warm red shade in a matte finish, looked absolutely stunning on the 82-year-old. As for the trick to helping the lipstick last for mature skin, without feathering or settling into fine lines? It's all about layering.

"I used multiple layers," reveals Canby, noting that she would blot each layer with tissue, see what came off, and then go back in with a lip brush for another layer to stack the pigment. After four rounds, she used a setting powder to lock the lip into place for the night.

And then there's Mitchell's complexion, which Canby reveals is mainly due to the Grammy winner being "a magician," adding that, "she doesn't have pores, and her skin is incredible." She used the Merit Great Skin Serum and Great Skin Moisturizer to prime and prep Mitchell's skin. "Joni loves to glow," she says. "[The serum and moisturizer] are really hydrating and glowy. [Then] we used the [Merit] Minimalist Complexion Stick in Bisque, but not all over her face; just around her nose and chin."

Believe it or not, there was no additional highlighter to create this otherworldly glow—just a bit of cream blush, the Merit Flush Balm in Stockholm, a lively baby pink shade. "I love them because they're super sheer, and it looks like a natural flush," says the makeup artist, who applied the blush just around the apples of the cheeks. No other contour or highlight was needed, she says, as "the flush balms are dewy, and they give a nice glow to the cheek."

Although Canby used nothing on Mitchell's brows ("her brows are almost white and she likes to keep them au naturale") the eyes looked defined and fluttery with couple of coats of the Merit Clean Lash Lengthening Mascara in Black. "I wanted her lashes to pop, and she has super long lashes already," says Canby. Finally, she added a hint of brown liner, using the already-cult-favorite Solo Shimmer Shadows instead of a traditional eyeliner. "[I used] Brun, a deep brown, [instead of black] because she’s fair and has light eyes, and she’s wearing a navy undertone to the outfit," says the makeup artist.

Paired with the flush of color on her cheeks and that brilliant, warm red lip, it's clear the Joni Mitchell still knows a thing or two about owning an award show carpet.

Nominees for the night include some of the usual suspects like Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and Sabrina Carpenter as well as first-timers like Olivia Dean and Addison Rae, who are both up for the Best New Artist award. Given the fact that these are all stars who’ve earned a spot on everyone’s beauty vision boards in the last year, there’s no doubt in my mind that the glam teams are working overtime to deliver a few gorgeous hair, nail, and makeup moments that I’ll be thinking about all week.

Ahead of the official ceremony, Kehlani won the Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song categories for her song "Folded" (her first-ever Grammy win, BTW). But that wasn't before she walked the red carpet wearing stunning loose waves and a milky pink manicure.

Messy updos were a major theme earlier this month at the Golden Globe Awards, and now it's showing up in full force at the Grammys. Here, PinkPantheress, who earned two award nominations tonight, wears a barely-there makeup look with her honey blonde hair pulled up into a messy bun.

I can always count on FKA Twigs to serve a look, so I shouldn't even be taken aback by her fiery red hair, yet here I am.

Zara Larsson is hoping to take home her first-ever Grammy award tonight, as her viral song, "Midnight Sun," earned a nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording. Another thing that's award-worthy? Her platinum blonde, waist-length mermaid waves. To go along with her gold, two-piece skirt set, the singer wore chunky, gold details on her nails.

Tyla, my pride and joy, has finally arrived! The "Chanel" singer stepped out wearing a stunning, vintage Dsquared2 gown with a fur train, and in lieu of the braided bob that's become her signature these last few months, she opted for a messy high ponytail with a side bang, a single braid, and subtle honey-colored highlights.

Uh-oh—Rosé has hit the red carpet with the first bob of the night. The blunt bob was the haircut of last year, but now it looks like it's time for the curly bob to have its moment in the spotlight.

The messy updo strikes again—this time on Sabrina Carpenter, who's up for several awards tonight, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year.

Everything about Ari Lennox's look is classic, from the long, bone-straight hair to the French manicure to the nude lip. 10/10, no notes.

Coco Jones, the woman that you are! The singer and Bel-Air alum showed up wearing a stunning, ash-blonde hydro bob.

Summer House's Ciara Miller went the minimalist route tonight, wearing straight-back cornrows and a '90s-style, chunky French manicure.

Olivia Dean hit the red carpet wearing a deep red lip, and her hair was styled in a fluffy blowout with bombshell curls. She's up for the Best New Artist award tonight.

Chappell Roan has never disappointed me in the beauty department. The midwest princess wore a blood red, Mugler naked dress on the red carpet and wore her deep red, naturally curly hair in messy curls with a feathery bang and a few loose fishtail braids. She smoked out her eyes with dark eye makeup and wore a peach-toned color on her lips.

Somehow Doechii managed to make the curly pineapple updo red carpet chic, and I'm so on board with it. The rapper, who's nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and three other awards, paired the look with a '90s supermodel lip featuring dark liner and a nude lipstick.

Queen Latifah is the queen of the bob, and you can't tell me any different. She showed up to the event wearing a very blunt cut bob featuring brown roots that faded into a lighter platinum blonde color towards the ends.

Billie Eilish brought her dark lob to the red carpet and styled it with a middle part and a simple black hair accessory.

Miley Cyrus ditched her trendy bangs when she attended the Golden Globes earlier this month, but she brought them back tonight on the Grammys red carpet. Her hair was styled in a messy low ponytail with a few loose tendrils on either side of her face.

I never want Lady Gaga's icy blonde era to end. The "Abracadabra" singer pulled her platinum blonde hair into a half-up, half-down hairstyle with bleached brows to match. She added a hint of color to her look with peachy lips and a brown lip liner.

ICYMI: The long, wavy look is in at the Grammys, and Karol G is joining in on the trend with her messy, blonde beach waves. She also deviated from the soft, neutral nail color trend that's been all over the red carpet tonight and wore bright red nails.

Kelsea Ballerini, who's nominated for Best Contemporary Country Album tonight, stepped out in a gorgeous, beaded halter dress and pulled her hair into a sleek chignon hairstyle.

Well, Awards Season is officially in high gear. Currently up on the circuit: the 68th annual Grammy Awards, which are taking place on Sunday, February 1. The guest list—which includes everyone from Sabrina Carpenter to Lady Gaga—is a strong indicator that the beauty looks will deliver more than the average red carpet.

The current batch of winter beauty trends are in full effect. I'm seeing dark under-eye circles (confirming that tired girl makeup is very in), red hair, and lots of fringe. Dreams of Taylor Swift expanding her best outfits of all time roster with another Grammys look aren't coming true tonight. The singer appears to be skipping a 2026 Grammys red carpet dress—despite having the best-selling album of the past year. Reports have surfaced that the star is sitting out of the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, held tonight, February 1, at Los Angeles's Crypto.com Arena. But the absence of another Grammys best-dressed moment with stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer and a custom Lorraine Schwartz "T" leg chain makes sense.

Before thinking of the fashion we're missing on a Swift-less Grammys red carpet, here are the facts: Her latest album was released after the window closed for 2026 Grammy Awards eligibility. Swift wasn't on the list of presenters, either. This marks the first year since 2017 that Swift hasn't been nominated for an award—naturally, she might enjoying a night off from the step-and-repeat.

Ben Winston, executive producer of tonight's show, even addressed fans' hopes for a Taylor Swift red carpet sighting this week in an interview with Hits. "The only reason people think Taylor might be performing or coming is because Hits decided to print it this week and put it in their Hits List, and it was picked up globally," Winston said. "But Hits just totally made that up. And now I am getting asked about it by you, as if it’s a real thing, when it was made up in your office! That really is a full-circle rumor!"

Of course, if Swift surprises even Grammys organizers and changes her RSVP, Marie Claire will update this post.

Still, Swifties are probably pouring one out for the Showgirl-inspired fashion that wasn't. Imagine what she could do with a red carpet twist on The Fate of Ophelia—or an iridescent gown to reference "Opalite"? There's also the deep archive of Bob Mackie vintage that Swift could pull—just like she has throughout the press and album visuals for The Life of a Showgirl. While she promoted the album throughout the fall, she wore a range of David Koma and Wiederhoeft looks referencing the sequins and shimmer of her tour-inspired album.

Taylor Swift's Grammys red carpet fashion has historically played on her love of following an album theme. In 2024, she accepted the Album of the Year Award for Midnights while announcing The Tortured Poets Department—in a Schiaparelli gown referencing the album's asylum-chic aesthetic. Even in her earliest years attending, she nodded to her evolving sound: crop-tops and dramatic ballgown skirts for 1989, woodsy embroidered Oscar de la Renta florals for Folklore.

There might be another major event keeping Taylor Swift from the 2026 Grammys red carpet: early planning for her anticipated wedding to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce. The couple announced their engagement in August 2025 and is expected to tie the knot later this year. One of the biggest red carpet trends I've tracked throughout my time at Marie Claire? How celebrities use rare vintage fashion to flex their style prowess. 2025's red carpets were filled with early-aughts and Old Hollywood vintage pieces. Now, the trend continues into 2026 with Tyla's peachy-pink, feathered gown. It's courtesy of Dsquared2, from its Fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection.

Sabrina Carpenter Sparkles at the 2026 Grammys Red Carpet

Sabrina Carpenter is toasting her nominations for Man's Best Friend in a custom Valentino gown that shimmers like a freshly-popped bottle of champagne. The flutter sleeves? The beaded bodice? The tiered skirt? It all strikes me as a maturation of her red carpet style—and an easy contender for best dressed.

Model Kelsey Merritt proved my naked dressing theory correct. Her take involves a slightly-sheer, beaded slip over matching black undergarments and sleek sandals. It's understated, but very Grammys appropriate.

I've never seen a Grammy Awards red carpet go by without a twist on corset dressing. Coco Jones delivered one of this year's most ethereal entries with this blush gown. Tulle drapes from an over-the-top flower to a train down her side. Note the extra structure around her hips—a callback to the pannier trend major designers have been playing with for the past two seasons.

Model Heidi Klum never stops pushing the envelope. This year, she arrived at the Grammys in a latex dress that looked like it had been poured directly onto her body—or made from an exacting mold.

She may be a Best New Artist nominee, but Olivia Dean is already dressing like a seasoned Grammys red carpet pro. She arrived at her first-ever ceremony in custom Chanel by Matthieu Blazy, featuring a gorgeous beaded bodice that dripped onto her white skirt.

I don't often see sunglasses on the red carpet, but I have to commend Charlotte Lawrence for bringing her Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy-coded pair. Those flashing paparazzi lights are bright! And, these amplify the glamour of her diamond necklace.

KATSEYE's Grammys Red Carpet Fashion Debut

Just days ago, Marie Claire editors called KATSEYE "It girls to watch" ahead of the 2026 Grammys. They joined the canon of well-dressed girl groups on this year's red carpet in five takes on bohemian lace by Ludovic de Saint Sernin. I can't pick which one I like best—they're all so close-up worthy.

Addison Rae Stuns in Alaïa

I'll leave this one to interim style director Ana Colón, who's one of the team's biggest Addison Rae fans. She tells me this look is major not only for its high-low train, but because it's one of Pieter Mulier's final designs for Alaïa before he departs the famed French house later this year.

You'll always see flashes of gold on an awards show red carpet: It's celebrities' favorite way to try manifesting a win. Still, I fell in love with the time-honored metallic again when I saw this Kelsea Ballerini look. The paisley beading reads to me like a clever nod to her country roots.

"The Nakedest Naked Dress in Grammys Red Carpet History...."

That's the accolade Marie Claire editors wanted to hand Chappell Roan, whose Mugler hooded gown unfurled to render her (nearly) topless on the Grammys red carpet. The fabric of her dress was only held in place by strategically-placed jewelry—and it didn't cover much.

Miley Cyrus Makes a Case for the Statement Brooch

Miley Cyrus stepped back from her marathon of recent Saint Laurent dresses at the 2026 Grammys red carpet. Instead, I was surprised to see the Something Beautiful nominee in a leather bomber jacket–affixed with objectively enormous brooches—and leather joggers. With this look, courtesy of Celine's new creative director, Michael Rider, she's already going home with gold.

They Don't Need Gold to Be "Golden"

It's Audrey Nuna, EJAE, and Rei Ami's "Golden" year. They already have a Golden Globe for the smash hit from Kpop Demon Hunters—and with looks from the likes of Dior and Thom Browne on their side, a Grammy might be up next.

Well! The ceremony is underway, but the fashion moments haven't stopped. Both Doechii and Chappell Roan decided to keep things interesting by pulling off a mid-show outfit change. Roan, for her part, switched into an ethereal Rodarte gown to present Olivia Dean with her Best New Artist Award. I haven't yet tracked down the designer behind Doechii's second look, but just know I'm obsessed with the jewelry-adjacent sculpture of her top.

Grammys Performance Style Hits the High Notes

Several of the night's nominees are playing their top tracks for the Crypto.com Arena crowd tonight. Sabrina Carpenter channeled the world's chicest pilot in a white, lace-up bodysuit and matching knee-high boots. A few moments later, KATSEYE took the stage in coordinating looks by Off-White.

Teyana Taylor is nominated for Best R&B Album at the 2026 Grammys, and she's clearly prepared for the competition. At the annual Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala on January 31, the Oscar nominee wore a couture gown consisting of a glittering breastplate and a cascading silk skirt.

Taylor's gown is taken from Tamara Ralph's Autumn/Winter '25/'26 collection. Per the designer's website, the look includes an "ivory mother-of-pearl sunray corset embellished with crystal, accompanied by an ivory silk double-draped skirt." The combination of an intricate and shimmering backless breastplate with a delicate layered silk skirt section is certainly worthy of an award-winner like Taylor.

The actress accessorized the chic gown with a pair of silver drop earrings.

In an interview with People, Taylor reacted to receiving her first Grammy nomination for her fourth studio album, Escape Room. "I love to create and direct, so being able to come back to music in such a vulnerable way was very healing for me," she told the outlet. Girl groups are once again having a moment at the Grammys. Three nights before the big event, first-time nominees KATSEYE—they're up for the Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance awards this year—proved they're ones to watch on the red carpet in coordinated Georges Hobeika gowns.

At Spotify's pre-Grammy party on January 29, Katie Qian styled each member in ethereal looks from the brand that felt true to them, while also complementing the whole group. From the left, Megan Skiendiel posed for photographers in Look 42 from the Lebanese designer's Spring 2025 collection: a pink, rhinestone-embellished mini dress with an elongated georgette train. Its high-low silhouette allowed her $2,200 Rene Caovilla heels a proper close-up, specifically their crystalized, serpent-like straps.

Next, Daniela Avanzini channeled naked dressing in a semi-sheer skirt set from the same collection. Just like the model, she coupled the crystalized bra with a low-rise skirt made of netted floral rhinestones with a stark white waistband (minus the drawstring seen on the catwalk). Instead of the original 3D botanical earrings, Avanzini frosted herself in a separate diamond choker and cross pendant.

Manon Bannerman dipped into the Georges Hobeika archives, specifically the Spring 2023 Haute Couture collection, to source her dress. Look 64 presumably caught the 23-year-old's eye with the silver and purple gradient fringe placed in scallops from the balconette halter bodice to the skirt's high-low hem. The silver Cleo Sandals from Rene Caovilla sparkled without outshining Bannerman's couture.

In a sea of pastel, princess-y picks, Lara Raj stood out with an earthy green, semi-sheer Fall 2025 slip straight out of a forest fairy's wardrobe. Beyond the sequin bust, vine-inspired embroidery cascaded down the mesh skirt ever-so effortlessly. The color story was, of course, a perfect match to her bindi.

The group's Spring 2025 ready-to-wear series continued with Sophie Laforteza's dreamy drop-waist gown in powder pink. What began as a scoop-neck, corsage-topped bodice transformed into a striking asymmetrical skirt. Clear crystals placed in a crocodile-like formation made the delicate shade more fierce, especially alongside Laforteza's sharp peep-toe stilettos.

Last but certainly not least, Georges Hobeika loaned Yoonchae Jeung a strapless gown from Spring 2026, the latest ready-to-wear collection. She was by far the sparkliest of the six members, with silver and gold strands of rhinestones decorating the entire A-line dress. It filled the glitter quota tenfold, so Jeung only accessorized with a pendant-less choker.

Spotify's Best New Artist party allowed every nominee in the category—including Addison Rae, Sombr, Leon Thomas III, and Olivia Dean—to take center stage. Katseye stole the show with performances of "Gnarly" and "Gabriela," with each member matching in black, lingerie-inspired bodysuits mostly made of lace and tulle. The on-stage costumes marked an edgy shift from their romantic red carpet looks, though this is common for their live performances. (Expect similar outfit changes at the 2026 Grammys.)

A girl group of any size—let alone this stacked—has yet to win the Grammy for Best New Artist. (That's right, not even Destiny's Child.) So, KATSEYE could very well make history on Feb. 1. Whether or not they win, one thing's for certain: KATSEYE will make waves on and off the red carpet.

On January 27, a few nights before the 2026 Grammy Awards, music's biggest stars turned the Resonator Awards into their red carpet rehearsal. Honorees from Joni Mitchell to Chappell Roan arrived in Grammy-worthy gowns, while presenter Olivia Rodrigo paired a four-figure mini dress with an amateur layering hack.

Until now, Rodrigo's attendance at the 2026 Grammys wasn't confirmed. (She has three wins under her belt, yes, but she's not nominated this year.) With the Resonator Awards being a major Grammy Week bash, it's looking more likely she'll stop by L.A.'s Crypto.com Arena on Sunday. Devoted Livies know she adores an Easter egg, so perhaps her Resonator Awards dress was just that: confirmation she'll wear Valentino to the 2026 Grammy Awards.

From Alessandro Michele's 132-piece Resort 2026 line, styling duo Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo chose the drop-waist Georgette Dress for Rodrigo. Ruched, pale pink silk stretched from the sweetheart neckline, beneath the bodice's double tiered bows, before stopping at a third, Grosgrain ribbon. Then, black pleated satin took over until the thigh-grazing hem.

Just like the Grammys, music tech non-profit We Are Moving The Needle hosted the ceremony in L.A., meaning celebrity guests could comfortably opt out of layers. Even so, Rodrigo winterized the spaghetti-strap mini with slightly sheer black tights.

This simple addition—perhaps inspired by Michele's Resort 2026 styling—made Valentino feel approachable for us non-Grammy-winning fashion girls. Unlike the look book's original stockings, fans can secure a similar opaque pair at the nearest CVS Pharmacy. Alas, Rodrigo's chunky, $1,095 Christian Louboutin pumps are not included.

Something about the singer's style—whether it be her cool-girl charm or '90s-inspired accessories—makes any designer dress feel effortless to replicate. Last month, she attended Lily Allen's Christmas party in a vintage little black dress from Gucci Spring 1996, which to the stylist-free fan, would be near-impossible to track down. Alongside black Mary Janes and an under-$500 Rixo bag, however, it became surprisingly easy to channel.

Two months prior, Rodrigo took to New York City in a subtly custom Valentino dress. You wouldn't know Michele crafted the V-neck, polka-dot mini just for her; its pleated skirt read more like a circa-1950s vintage find. (Her Valentino DeVain shoulder bag returned the LBD to its investment piece origins.)

All this to say? Valentino brings out Rodrigo's accessible side, even on the red carpet. If we're lucky, the dream team will keep this up at the 2026 Grammys. Maybe not being nominated called for a more relaxed serve, like her pink Valentino mini.

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards are just days away, with "music's biggest night" returning to celebrate an...interesting year in pop culture. When are the 2026 Grammys?

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, February 1, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The event will take place at its regular venue, Crypto.com Arena in L.A.

In addition to the main ceremony, the Grammy Premiere Ceremony—which features the un-televised wins and additional performances not shown during the main broadcast—will stream before the main show on the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel and live.GRAMMY.com, starting at 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT.

How to watch the 2026 Grammys:

Viewers with cable can tune into their local CBS channel or use their cable login to watch on a computer, phone, or tablet via CBS's website or app.

The Grammys will also stream on the Paramount+ app in the U.S. only. However, the ceremony will only air live on the Paramount+ Premium tier, which starts at $13/month and offers a seven-day free trial. The following day, the full event will stream on demand for all subscribers, including those with the Paramount+ Essential tier (at $8/month).

Meanwhile, the Grammys are bringing back their Best New Artist performance segment, with all eight nominees—Addison Rae, Alex Warren, KATSEYE, Leon Thomas, Lola Young, Olivia Dean, SOMBR, and The Marías—gracing the stage.

We also know who will appear in the In Memoriam segment. Honoring D'Angelo and Roberta Flack is Ms. Lauryn Hill, while an epic Ozzy Osbourne tribute will be performed by an ensemble featuring Post Malone, Andrew Watt, Chad Smith, Duff McKagan, and Slash. Reba McEntire, Brandy Clark, and Lukas Nelson are also said to team up to recognize others lost in the musical community in the past year.

The lineup is already looking stacked for Sunday, but you can bet The Recording Academy will announce more performers closer to the show.

Kendrick Lamar leads this year's nominees with nine nods, including Album of the Year for his post-"Not Like Us" victory lap, GNX, and Record and Song of the Year for his latest duet with SZA, "Luther." Right on his tail is Lady Gaga with eight nominations, breaking her previous record of six nods in 2010.

Other artists leading the nominations include Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, and Leon Thomas, each with six noms; and Doechii, Clipse, SZA, and Tyler, the Creator with five each. (For any Taylor Swift fans wondering, The Life of a Showgirl came out after the eligibility period ended. Should it receive any future nominations, that would be for the 2027 Grammys.)

In addition to GNX and Let God Sort 'Em Out, nominees for album of the year include Bad Bunny for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, Justin Bieber for Swag, Sabrina Carpenter for Man’s Best Friend, Lady Gaga for Mayhem, Leon Thomas for Mutt, and Tyler the Creator for Chromakopia.

As for Song of the Year, nominees include Bad Bunny's "DtMF," Billie Eilish's "Wildflower," Carpenter's "Manchild," Doechii's "Anxiety," Lamar and SZA's "Luther," ROSÉ and Bruno Mars's "APT.," and "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters. The Record of the Year category includes all the same songs, with one exception: Chappell Roan's "The Subway" takes over the "Golden" slot.

Finally, some notable stats: 2026 marks the first year that three rap albums—GNX, Let God Sort 'Em Out, and Chromokopia—are nominated for Album of the Year. Bad Bunny is the first Spanish-language artist to be nominated in Album, Record, and Song of the Year simultaneously. Meanwhile, "Golden" and "APT." are the first K-pop songs to be nominated in the Song and Record of the Year categories.

We know several names presenting at this Sunday's awards show—and they're big ones. The Recording Academy began announcing presenters about a week before the ceremony, with fan-favorite stars Harry Styles and Doechii as the first two set to take the stage. Other stars confirmed to present include Carole King, Chappell Roan, Charli xcx, Jeff Goldblum, KAROL G, Lainey Wilson, Marcello Hernández, Nikki Glaser, Q-Tip, Queen Latifah, and Teyana Taylor.

Also, the Academy has been teasing an "additional surprise presenter." One popular guess floating around: Beyoncé could show up to present Album of the Year, the year after her own win. We'll have to wait and see.

Just about anyone who has logged into Netflix or turned on the radio in the past year has heard EJAE’s voice. Whether K-pop stans, animation enthusiasts, or every kindergartener on the planet and their unsuspecting parents know her name or not, they're certainly familiar with the 34-year-old songwriter's performance as Rumi, the leader of the titular KPop Demon Hunters. But beyond playing HUNTR/X's charismatic leader, EJAE was also instrumental in turning the musical into a full-blown phenomenon, serving as a co-writer on three of the Billboard-topping songs from the soundtrack.

In the months since KPDH became Netflix’s most-watched movie of all time, EJAE has gone from working behind the scenes in studios to gracing the world’s biggest stages and red carpets. Her anthem "Golden," which she co-wrote with Mark Sonnenblick, 24, Ido, and Teddy, is up for four Grammys, including Song of the Year. And it's already started to rake in awards and break records: In early January, she became the first Korean-American woman to win Best Original Song at the Golden Globes. With "Golden" nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars, she also made history, as the track marks the first K-pop song recognized.

Even as "Golden" started exploding, EJAE couldn't fathom just how much her life was about to change. "My publicist was like, 'You’re going to have no life for six months,' but I was like, Whatever," she recalls, speaking to Marie Claire over Zoom in early December. "I genuinely have no life right now," she adds with a laugh.

Long before KPop Demon Hunters, EJAE, born Kim Eun-jae, had accepted that fame wouldn’t be coming her way. Growing up between Seoul and Fort Lee, New Jersey, the aspiring singer joined K-pop juggernaut SM Entertainment’s training program in 2003, at age 11. She spent 12 years putting in “literal blood, sweat, and tears” in hopes of being chosen to debut as a solo artist. But when other trainees were chosen for groups like Girls' Generation, the singer-songwriter turned her attention to her education—fast-tracking her degree in music and psychology at New York University, expecting to make her debut after graduation. Instead, SM dropped her in 2015, and she faced an uncertain future.

But—just as EJAE put it herself while accepting her first-ever Golden Globe—she turned her rejection into redirection. The would-be music therapist pivoted to music production; two years after she was dropped, she returned to SM for a songwriting camp and penned the topline melody that would become Red Velvet’s platinum hit “Psycho.” She went on to write for artists like TWICE, aespa, LE SSERAFIM, NMIXX, and Billlie, and was also tapped to work on early demos for an in-the-works animated film about otherworldly idols.

“When you don't use that muscle of making decisions on your own, and suddenly you have to do it, it's scary,” she says of her early songwriting days. “Moving to the States, not wanting to live with my parents, and figuring it out on my own really did help me find the beauty in my voice.” It's safe to say that leaning into her unique voice as an artist is exactly why EJAE became "the heart and soul of HUNTR/X," as director Maggie Kang has called her.

Below, EJAE chats with Marie Claire about establishing herself outside of the trainee system, bridging K-pop songwriting with musical theater, and the importance of exploring every side of your artistry.

MC: During your trainee years, you got the opportunity to join a ballad group at 18, but you chose to go to college instead. What informed that decision?

EJAE: Honestly, that decision wasn't that hard because I took my studies very, very seriously at a young age. I feel like I was more mature then than now. I knew that K-pop idol life wasn't forever. Also, being in the industry, I've noticed that a lot of my friends around me were depressed, and seeing that, music therapy was something I really wanted to do and pursue.

On top of that, I had sacrificed so much of my youth—essentially my childhood. I am not kidding when I say I practiced my ass off: “Blood, sweat, and tears” is quite literal blood, sweat, and tears. I wanted to be a solo artist, and that's always been my main goal. I didn't want to be in a girl group. So I think those two combined gave me the confidence to be like, “No.”

MC: Even as a K-pop fan, I had to watch a couple of documentaries to really understand how intense training is.

EJAE: I really went above and beyond as a kid. When everyone was leaving after class, I stayed and kept practicing. I would book studios and stay there for six hours, for eight hours, just dancing by myself. It was brutal, and the fact that there's a lot of critiquing and certain ways you have to eat or look or be. We couldn't chew gum because that would make our jaws bigger. We couldn't do a kimchi squat 'cause that would ruin the knees. It's very difficult to get used to, and obviously, there's a lot of showcases and competition. It was quite rigorous in what we had to learn, but I did work my butt off for it all.

MC: Looking back on your trainee days, did you ever feel like you struggled to fit your natural vocal tone into the kind of sound K-pop companies tend to make?

EJAE: Well, I'm not going to lie. At that time, I wasn't that good at singing. Finding your voice on your own terms and finding your voice because someone's telling you what you need to sound like are two very different things. I think you find more strength and confidence, and you become a better singer when you find your voice on your own.

During that time, SM had a very specific brand or sound. I was definitely told to push my voice to sound cleaner, even though, naturally, I have a low-toned singing voice. I was trying to sound like Ariana Grande—she has a very clean, beautiful voice—but my voice is a little bit husky, kind of Alicia Keys, Adele vibes. Confidence is an important part in singing, and in selling the lyrics and story. When you're confused about your voice, it's really hard to do. So I think that's where I was at that time.

MC: How would you describe K-pop/idol-music songwriting to someone only familiar with Western pop?

EJAE: Being a K-pop idol is about a whole package and a whole experience. When I write for K-pop, it's a very different strategy than for pop. I'm thinking about whether the creative director would have more inspiration from this song concept. Choreography, music video ideas, makeup ideas, those things are very important when writing for K-pop.

I actually got better at singing because of songwriting for K-pop, because it challenges you to do different genres. Sometimes I would do rock. Sometimes I would have to do diva vocals. Sometimes I have to do the prettier NewJeans or TWICE-style vocals, or Rihanna girl crush vocals. I would rap. It made me realize, Oh, I actually like my voice when I do this. Oh, I like it when I do that. Experimenting with my voice is what helped me get to where I am right now, so I don’t regret any of the whole experience I had.

MC: You and your KPDH co-songwriter Mark Sonnenblick have said you had to bridge the worlds of theater and pop to make songs that could be storytelling devices, but also hits. What was that like?

EJAE: It was so, so hard. I remember talking to Mark, like, “Damn, if we figure this out, we're freaking geniuses.” I've never worked on a song for K-pop where it's not just me and the producers or other co-writers. For KPop Demon Hunters, it's me, co-writer, producers, studio execs, music director. We had to fit Maggie [Kang]'s specific vision of the storyline and her taste, but also the studio's taste, Sony's taste, Netflix's taste. It's a lot of layers that we have to go through. Thank goodness Mark is the nicest person in the world. We had no ego. It was all about the song that was really important, the collaborative energy.

And on top of that, it's a movie, but it also has to be a pop song. We really worked hard in making it commercially acceptable and catchy, have the melody still be enough where we can put in lyrical words that fit the storyline of the characters. I love musicals, but they can get very wordy. A lot of people can say it sounds corny because it's quite literal. Whereas with pop music, simplicity is the thing. It was really important to me as a pop writer that the concept not only works for the movie, but works for everyone. If a random person heard it, they can relate to it too.

MC: “Golden” is obviously the biggest hit, but “How It’s Done” is probably my favorite song of the movie. How did you approach HUNTR/X’s take on the girl-crush sound?

EJAE: “How It's Done” was the hardest song I worked on. There were so many different passes, trying to find a hook that’s hook-y. We were given this massive track, and we needed a melody that's good enough that can pierce through it. If a melody was too busy, then it wouldn’t work. When we got that dun-dun-dun, we were like, “Yes! But what do we say?” [One day], I think I was watching a TikTok, I said, “That's how it's done.” I was like, “Wait, ‘done, done, done…How it's done, done, done.’ Oh shit. That works really well.” I think that was an inspiration too: trying to find sentences that people use every day that can work as a pop song, but also, it works in the film. HUNTR/X shows how it's done.

The raps were where we took full advantage of K-pop writing, which worked really well with theater. All the verses had rap, so we could put all the storyline in there, and the chorus could be as simple as possible. So everything was just really strategic. It was a hard song, but super fun.

MC: You released your debut solo single, “In Another World,” in October, as “Golden” was starting to gain awards-season buzz. Why did you choose an emotional ballad for your first release?

EJAE: “In Another World” was just exactly how I felt at the time. Everything happening right now is so weird. I thought this would all happen in another world, so I wanted to talk about that. I’m sure a lot of people are going through times when things don't happen the exact way they want it to happen. I don't know what life is going to give me, especially right now when there's so much attention and spotlight on me. So “In Another World” helps me deal with that pressure. Being like, You know what? If it doesn't work, okay. Maybe in another world, it would be fine, but right now it's not meant to be in this lifetime.

“Golden” and all these K-pop songs were very high energy, very performative melodies. “In Another World” is a different side of me, a little chill. I wanted to show that personal side.

MC: You’ve mentioned that you’re glad fame came at this stage in your life. As you craft your solo music, what do you want to explore? What does the music that EJAE makes in her 30s sound like?

EJAE: My core is a songwriter, so my core is always working with artists and writing great music. Taking whatever we're feeling, trying to find a universal emotion that we can express in a different, creative way, that's songwriting. I want to continue that and transition into the pop world as well. I mean, pop has always been my thing. It's just that K-pop was so near me. I was living in Korea, and I'm clearly Korean. But I want to be able to show that K-pop is more than just Korean pop. It can go everywhere. With KPop Demon Hunters, I wasn't thinking, Oh, it has to be K-pop sound. I was using a hybrid of everything. So I’m very interested in bringing some K-pop elements into the pop world and constantly growing as a songwriter.

I think that being me as an artist, for me, is finding honest concepts. I love that “Golden” helped unite people and heal a wound that people sometimes didn't know they had needed to heal. I want to continue being that kind of vessel for the songs to be famous, not really me. That's where my headspace is at. EJAE is a platform for these songs that've just been gathering dust, that have potential, that I love. I want to release them and continue to keep writing great songs.

MC: Why is the freedom to work in different genres important to you as an artist?

EJAE: Because I feel like that's how everyone is. We're not this or that. I'm Korean American; I'm not just Korean or just American. I'm a hybrid of both. I don't like it when people are like, “Oh my God, she's so Korean here. Oh, she chooses when she's Korean, when she's American.” No, that's just who I am. I'm not just always feminine; I also have a masculine side to me. I don't always just sing low notes; I can also sing high notes. It just comes in different ways. I could be silly and goofy, but also hella sensitive. You're not just one thing.

The beauty of KPop Demon Hunters is loving all sides of yourself. That's what makes you grow as a person, not when you're boxed in. I mean, fish literally cannot grow bigger if they're in a fish tank. I think it’s very important for people to understand that binary thinking can sometimes be very limiting. Having the freedom to do a lot of things in different ways really helps you to grow, and also not just for yourself. It will also inspire others to open up and to explore and do things. And that's KPop Demon Hunters in a nutshell, right?

Cynthia Erivo and Taylor Swift almost broke the internet when they recreated the famous "holding space" Wicked meme at the 2025 Grammys. Now, Erivo is opening up about how she ended up sharing a seat with the "Getaway Car" singer at the prestigious ceremony, and what it was like spending time with the tortured poet.

During an appearance on SiriusXM's The Morning Mash Up (via Entertainment Weekly), Erivo said of Swift, "She caused absolute mischief and it was hilarious and fun."

Recalling the start of the night, the Tony Award winner explained, "It took a really long time to get in because I feel very guilty if I miss people on the carpet, so I tried to do every interview and those interviews ran a little bit long." The British actress elaborated, "I was trying to get to my seat and didn't have a lot of time to pass by, and Trevor Noah was over there doing his intro." According to Erivo, Swift spotted her predicament and told her, "Just come over here. Sit here."

Erivo continued, "So I was like, 'Okay,' and then just came and sat next to her and just waited."

Erivo's revelation about Swift causing "mischief" comes after the singer announced she'd purchased the master recordings of her first 6 albums. In a social media post sharing the news, Swift wrote, "To say this is my biggest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it." She continued, "I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening."

Doechii's Thom Browne Makeup and Nails

Not only did Doechii wear a Thom Browne inspired French manicure, swapping the traditional pink used as a base coat from a gorgeous gray shade, she then proceeded to match said nails to her eyeshadow, courtesy of a gorgeous smoky eye. Between her portrait-worthy makeup and voluminous curls, courtesy of Dom Forletta and Amika, you may have missed Chappell Roan's second manicure of the night, but I didn't. Created by manicurist Juan Alvear, the look featured jewel tones and 3D motifs, all created to perfectly match the corset that she performed in for the show.

Willow Smith's '90s Makeup

If it wasn't the stunning middle-part afro or multi-colored girllz that caught your eye when Willow Smith hit the red carpet, it was likely her grungy '90s-inspired makeup. The look was created by Ernesto Casillas using Dior, and while her gold eyeshadow and rosy cheeks were a sight to behold, it was really the lips that brought it all together for me.

Charli XCX's Winged Eyeshadow

Created by makeup artist Nina Park using Valentino Beauty, Charli XCX's makeup for the Grammys was intentionally made to feel "effortless and cool," Park says in a press release. "The softly smoked-out eyes add just the right amount of sultry intensity, balanced by brushed-up brows and a nude lip."

After making history multiple times at the 2025 Grammys, Beyoncé has announced the dates for her upcoming Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour. The superstar also rectified a mistake she made at the ceremony when she forgot to thank someone very important.

Not only did Beyoncé become the first ever Black woman to win Best Country Album at the Grammys, she also took home her very first Album of the Year award. It's almost impossible to believe the "Halo" singer had never won the important accolade before, despite being the most decorated Grammys artist of all time. Still, fans were delighted about Beyoncé's historic wins, and will likely want to purchase tickets for her forthcoming tour immediately.

Following the Grammys, Beyoncé shared an Instagram post revealing the cities she'll be visiting in support of Cowboy Carter's success. "SHE COMING," the singer simply captioned the post. The Destiny's Child icon's official website revealed the tour will span from April 28 until July 11, with concerts taking place in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, London, Paris, Houston, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Las Vegas.

Beyoncé won the 2025 Grammys for Best Country Album, Album of the Year, and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Miley Cyrus, "II Most Wanted."

However, after the 2025 Grammys came to an end, the "Single Ladies" singer realized she had forgotten to thank someone rather important. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Beyoncé said, "Rumi, who's on the album, our youngest daughter, she's at home watching and I forgot to thank her so I get to thank her now. Thank you, Rumi." Rumi, of course, appears on the song "Protector" on Cowboy Carter, making her an integral part of her mom's success.

In response to winning Album of the Year, Beyoncé said in her speech, "I just feel very full and very honored. It's been many, many years, and I want to thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer, all of the hard work." Beyoncé dedicated the award to Linda Martell, a Black country artist who has fought against racism throughout her career. "I hope we just keep pushing forward, opening doors," the "Crazy in Love" singer explained. "God bless, y'all. Thank you so much."

Can we get a "yeehaw" for Cowboy Carter herself?

At the 2025 Grammys on Sunday, Feb. 2, Beyoncé took home the coveted Album of the Year award for the first time for her country album, 2024's Cowboy Carter. The honor marked a major moment for the superstar, who has long been the most decorated artist in Grammy history but never took home the gramophone for Album of the Year.

Queen Bey appeared stunned when her name was called by a member of the L.A. Fire Department, who announced the nominees in the category. To her daughter Blue Ivy, she said, "I love you, my baby," while looking emotional, making her way to the Crypto.com Arena stage.

Beyoncé began her acceptance speech by thanking and praising the firefighters for their work "keeping us safe" from the devastating wildfires. She then said, "I just feel very full and very honored."

"It's been many, many years," the icon continued with a laugh. "I just want to thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer, all of the hard work."

She went on to share her gratitude for the efforts of Linda Martell, a fellow country musician and the first Black female artist to be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. "I want to dedicate this to Ms. Martel, and I hope we just keep pushing forward, opening doors," Beyoncé said of the singer-songwriter, who she references on two Cowboy Carter tracks.

Her speech concluded, "God bless y'all. Thank you so much. Thank you."

Several other stars in the audience at the awards show were visibly excited when the hitmaker was announced as the winner; Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish both noticeably teared up.

This year's Album of the Year category was stacked: The nominees included New Blue Sun by André 3000, Hit Me Hard and Soft by Billie Eilish, Brat by Charli xcx, Djesse Vol. 4 by Jacob Collier, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell Roan, Short n’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter, and The Tortured Poets Department by Taylor Swift.

Beyoncé was up for 11 total awards at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, her most-ever nominations in a single year. (She bested her record of 10 nods, which she received in 2009.) Queen Bey went into the 67th Annual Grammy Awards the most awarded artist in the awards show's history, starting the night with 32. She beat her own record and now has 35 gramophones to her name, as she also won awards for Best Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

With her wins in the country category, Beyoncé also made history. Not only is she the first Black woman to win a Grammy in the genre in 50 years (since The Pointer Sisters won Best Country Vocal Performance By a Duo Or Group for the song “Fairytale"), she becomes the first Black woman to ever win Best Country Album.

The significance of winning Album of the Year for the first time is a feat for the singer—and it especially doesn't go unnoticed that it was for her roots and Americana-inspired project. She's long spoken about her love for the genre and has been vocal about the challenges Black female artists face in the country music industry. Notably, upon the release of Cowboy Carter, the musician shared in a candid Instagram statement about how an experience where she "did not feel welcomed" by the country community informed the record.

Since then, she broke a number of records on the Billboard charts—and now, has yet again made Grammys history.

For a certain group of stars at the 2025 Grammy awards, two red carpet fashion updates (or three, or four) were so much better than one. Long-lost Jean Paul Gaultier couture was just the start of first-time Grammy winner Chappell Roan's fashion parade at the 2025 Grammys. A multi-tiered custom Thom Browne dress, a leather mini bodysuit, and a bow-topped Acne Studios dress rounded out her evening of outfit changes.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga completed two head-turning outfit changes before accepting her Grammy for Best Pop Duo with Bruno Mars. First, the pair performed their No.1 hit "Die With a Smile," with the songstress wearing a ruffled Valentino gown from Alessandro Michele's debut collection for the house. Then, she returned to the stage for a moving acceptance speech in a black off-the-shoulder gown.

Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter started the night in custom JW Anderson; performed in custom Dolce & Gabbana; and finished out the festivities in a shimmering gold dress. That last look might have been the star manifesting another trophy to take home. It was definitely her standout collaboration with stylist Jared Ellner for the night.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus had a little black dress agenda at the 2025 Grammys—but her three selects couldn't be more different. After baring her abs in a Saint Laurent gown, she covered up in a long-sleeve, skintight dress. Same palette, entirely different vibes. And then, she closed out the night in a custom Alaïa gown while presenting Record of the Year.

Kelsea Ballerini

The constant between Kelsea Ballerini's original Grammys outfit and her second? A dramatic cape swept over her shoulders. The first came courtesy of Tamara Ralph Couture, in dazzling white over a skintight LBD. The second was gauzy black chiffon, over an equally little (and luxurious) black dress.

Charli XCX

While Charli XCX's Jean Paul Gaultier gown felt extremely "her," the singer's second look was even more of an instant "club classic." She swapped layers of chiffon and a sculpted corset for a black two-piece set—and in true brat fashion, slim sunglasses worn inside.

Billie Eilish

Think Billie Eilish's 2025 Grammys red carpet look was casual? Her post-performance outfit change was even more laid-back. She traded her custom Prada suit and nautical hat for an extra-oversize soccer jersey, baggy jorts, and a backwards baseball cap. The "Birds of a Feather" singer understands that it's a long night; even in one of music's most rarified rooms, comfort is key.

Chrissy Teigen

After walking the 2025 Grammys red carpet in a black Christian Siriano gown, Chrissy Teigen changed into a Tony Ward Couture dress that hit all the same notes in a different shade. Starlight silver fabric replaced her jet-black original dress, emphasized with a long cape over her shoulders. Consistent between both looks? A sky-high pair of heels.

While accepting the 2025 Grammy for Best New Artist at the awards show on Sunday, Feb. 2, Chappell Roan used the platform to deliver a powerful message to recording industry executives.

The first-time winner called on the "most powerful people in music" to provide artists with a livable wage and health insurance. She also shared her own experience as a struggling artist before her monumental rise in 2024, following the September 2023 release of her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess.

"I told myself, if I ever won a Grammy and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a livable wage and healthcare, especially to developing artists," she said.

"Because I got signed so young, I got signed as a minor, and when I got dropped, I had zero job experience under my belt and, like most people, I had a difficult time finding a job in the pandemic and could not afford health insurance," the 26-year-old star continued. "It was so devastating to feel so committed to my art and feel so betrayed by the system and so dehumanized to not have health[care]."

"If my label would have prioritized artist health, I could have been provided care by a company I was giving everything to. So, record labels need to treat their artists as valuable employees with a livable wage and health insurance and protection. Labels, we got you, but do you got us?" she concluded.

During her speech, Roan also thanked her "fellow nominees whose music got me through the past year."

She added, "Thank you all who listened to get me here today, and Dan [Nigro] and Island Records, Amusement Records, my friends and my family, and, above all, my Papa Chappell, who I named myself after."

The Midwest Princess received six Grammy nominations this year, including Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Good Luck, Babe!," as well as Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.

Other Best New Artist nominees included Benson Boone, Doechii, Khruangbin, RAYE, Sabrina Carpenter, Shaboozey, and Teddy Swims.

Ahead of the Grammys, Chappell Roan had hinted that any acceptance speech she'd give at the 2025 ceremony would be memorable. During her appearance on A Carpool Karaoke Christmas, which premiered last December, she told host Zane Lowe, "I don’t have a speech yet, but you know me. I’m going to say something controversial. Why not?"

The Swamp Princess is officially a Grammy winner.

Doechii took home the award for Best Rap Album at the 2025 Grammys, for her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal. In her acceptance speech, the Tampa-born rapper dedicated her win to Black women whose dreams have been doubted.

The rapper began her speech by honoring the history of female rappers at the Grammys. "I don't want to make this long, but this category was introduced in 1989, and two women have won: Lauryn Hill—three women have won!," she corrected herself. "Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii."

Lauryn Hill previously won Best Rap Album in 1996, as part of Fugees, for The Score. In 2019, Cardi B became the first female solo rapper to take home the award for Invasion of Privacy. Cardi passed the torch to Doechii by presenting her with this year's award.

"I put my heart and my soul into this mixtape," Doechii said in her speech. "I bared my life. I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety, and God told me that I would be rewarded and that he would show me just how good it can get. And I have to thank God. I need to thank my beautiful mother for coaching me. I want to think my label, my engineer, Jayda [Love], for everything she did, my fans, to the swamp!"

The first-time winner went on to introduce herself to any viewers who still didn't know her background.

"There's so many people out there who probably don't know who I am. I call myself the Swamp Princess because I'm from Tampa, Florida. There's so much culture in Tampa. Whenever people think about Florida, they only think about Miami, but Tampa has so much talent. Labels, go to Tampa. There's talent there, okay? Thank you so much to my label, TDE, and everybody that helped put this together. All the producers on the project, I thank you. Thank you to hip-hop."

She concluded her speech by telling Black women that they are enough, despite what "stereotypes" others may project upon them.

"I know that there is some Black girl out there, so many Black women out there that are watching me right now, and I want to tell you, you can do it, anything is possible. Anything is possible! Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you that tell you that you can't be here, that you're too dark or that you're not smart enough or that you're too dramatic or you're too loud. You're exactly who you need to be to be right where you are and I am a testimony," she concluded.

Other nominees for Best Rap Album include J. Cole's Might Delete Later, Common and Pete Rock's The Auditorium Vol. 1, Eminem's The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), and Future & Metro Boomin's We Don't Trust You.

In addition to Best Rap Album, Doechii received two more 2025 Grammy nominations: Best Rap Performance for "Nissan Altima" and Best New Artist. Kaytranada's remix of her song "Alter Ego" featuring JT was also nominated for Best Remixed Recording.

The answer for tonight's red carpet was Jean Paul Gaultier, whose guest-designed collaboration with Ludovic de Saint Sernin provided her flowing, pale teal gown. It only debuted on the Paris Haute Couture runway last week, but stylist Chris Horan managed to secure the dress bag for his star client in days—and change the color from runway bridal white to the custom tone seen here. Lest anyone doubt that she could bump "club classics" in a ballgown, her sturdy lace-up boots and general attitude say she can dance to her own music wearing whatever she wants.

Corsets and micro-mini skirts have been fixtures in Taylor Swift's Tortured Poets Department era. Yet those two elements combined into something entirely new for the Grammy nominee on the 2025 red carpet. She left behind the moody palette of her "Down Bad" album for a ruby-red, crystal-covered Vivienne Westwood mini dress. Between the shimmering "T" charm on her leg—a reference to another TTPD track—and the miles of Lorraine Schwartz jewels, Swift looked the most vibrant she ever has on the red carpet. Even if she doesn't take home a win for her confessional album, she and stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer can end the night knowing they earned their best-dressed accolade.

Cardi B's first red carpet of 2025 said she came to conquer. The rapper and stylist Kollin Carter teamed up to customize a Roberto Cavalli Spring 2025 gown, adding heaps more feathers to the skirt and adjusting the neckline from a one-shoulder to a plunging off-the-shoulder silhouette. Between the tiger-stripe sequins and figure-skimming shape, I can only think of one word for this look: fierce.

Vintage and archival fashion is becoming commonplace on the red carpet, but Chappell Roan's first select for the 2025 Grammy Awards still made me gasp for the history alone. (First being the operative word—she quick-changed into an all-denim look later in the evening.) This look comes from the designer's 2003 Spring Couture collection, complete with the feathered headpiece that debuted right alongside the Degas ballerina-printed skirt. It's stitched with all the theatricality fans expect from Chappell—and it's so rare, stylist Genesis Webb said she slept next to it in her hotel room for fear of losing it. I too would want eyes on this vintage prize at all times if it was in my arsenal.

I'd suspected Sabrina Carpenter and stylist Jared Ellner would dream up something vintage-inspired and pin-up worthy for the 2025 Grammys. But I didn't dare expect something as fit for a modern-day Cinderella as the custom JW Anderson gown she ended up wearing. The feather trimmings and backless silhouette (set with a massive Chopard diamond, natch) are right on-par with the custom Victoria's Secret lingerie and Patou lace bodysuits she wore on the Short 'n Sweet tour—and they're also a nod to a bit of fashion history. The piece is a dead-ringer for Shirley MacLaine's baby-blue gown in the 1964 classic What a Way to Go. She wins the reference game, down to the piled-up blonde curls and extra Chopard jewels.

"Smiling through it all, that's my life," must have been the lyric running through Gracie Abrams's head when she slid into her custom Chanel Grammys red carpet gown. Who could feel anything but happy in a butter yellow bridal moment, complete with a matching chiffon hood and a camellia-embellished belt? While Abrams's Chanel ambassador contract usually has her dressing in tweeds and collarless jackets, this look let the star put her own style at the fore. That trending color for her dress? It's also the shade of her album title on its cover artwork.

Introducing the 2025 Grammys resident "Swamp Princess"—and Best Rap Album winner. Doechii's style is defined by avant-prep dresses and office siren pinstripes, a look she brought all the way to her first Grammys red carpet as a major contender. She and stylist Sam Woolf played on the themes of her viral concerts with an exaggerated corset and matching tie, plus those signature Thom Browne stripes. As her early wins in the night already proved, she's at the top of every class.

One thing red carpet viewers can trust from Billie Eilish: She's not going to follow the reigning red carpet trends. While a nautical little Prada hat felt very appropriate for the headgear-heavy collections coming out of Paris and Milan last season, her relaxed jacket and slacks felt removed from the style cycle. It was down-to-earth and understated, much like Eilish's vocals on her Grammy-nominated album. She and Miuccia are truly "Birds of a Feather."

Olivia Rodrigo isn't shy about spilling her guts in her lyrics. At the 2025 Grammys, she applied the same bare-it-all ethos to her red carpet gown. She went to the same archive she wore for the 2024 Grammys red carpet—Versace's—and this time chose a black dress with dramatic cut-outs. The gown begins with a plunging keyhole neckline, then extends into slices at her hips and an entirely open back. While the punk-rock color palette is right on-brand for Rodrigo, the look didn't go entirely into "déjà vu" territory. Tiffany & Co. diamonds and loose, Old Hollywood waves helped the singer channel a more mature side of her style. This former Best New Artist now looks like a Grammys regular.

Lady Gaga is an intrepid fashion shape-shifter. We’ve seen meat dresses, Cinderella gowns, and Aphrodite bikinis. Once, a male alter-ego named Jo Calderone. On the 2025 Grammys red carpet, we get a Victorian portrait.

Gaga arrived at the 67th annual Grammy Awards in a custom charred black ball gown by emerging designer Samuel Lewis with sharply pointed shoulders and a voluminous taffeta bustle and ball gown. Her dark dress featured a corseted leather bodice with a Victorian-style high neckline and long lace-up sleeves to match. The entire effect of Gaga's dark and vampy 2025 Grammys look told a story of a Victorian ghost queen stomping down the red carpet on a mission.

Gaga wore sheer knee-high socks and her signature sky-high platform heels to cap off her gown. For sparkles, she chose a Tiffany & Co. Meta Overbeck gold necklace circa 1930-1933 in tourmaline, pearl, and onyx, yellow gold and platinum diamond earrings, and a sixteen-stone diamond and tsavorites ring.

Beauty-wise, her hair was cropped into baby bangs and worn long, while a sweep of pink on her lips brought a rare pop of color.

Gaga’s 2025 Grammys red carpet ensemble was a signal to her little monsters (and the rest of the world) that the avante garde artist has entered yet another fashion chapter—and it'll be grunge-y and gritty like her October released single ‘Disease.’ (Her new album ‘Mayhem,’ which releases in May, will undoubtedly align with the same unapologetic, rock-and-roll aesthetic.)

The only precedent was in 1975 when another artist coming into the genre from the outside, The Pointer Sisters, won Best Country Vocal Performance By A Duo Or Group for the song “Fairytale.”

Will the 2025 Grammys be another repeat sweep, starting on the red carpet and later on the stage when accepting her award(s)? If the singer had it her way, Roan wouldn't win the gilded gramophone: "I’m kind of hoping I don’t win [a Grammy], because then everyone will get off my ass: ​'See guys, we did it, and we didn’t win, bye!' I won’t have to do this again!" the singer told The Face in a September interview.

But with a talent as undeniable as Roan's, going home without a win very well might not be in the cards for the ascending superstar.
