The Marty Supreme star, who is presenting, opted for an ivory silk strapless gown custom-designed for her by Giorgio Armani Privé. As Paltrow mentioned, her reasoning had to do with members of her family eventually seeing the film.

"In my early career, I was really self-conscious about my dad and grandfather seeing this kind of stuff. It really bothered me," the 53-year-old said. "Now I wouldn't care."

Hawke praised Paltrow for having "an awareness of how the business worked and the ways in which those kinds of images could be manipulated" and for how she handled turning down the scene. "You weren’t petulant. You were just saying, 'Look, I'm not going to do this.'"

Paltrow has spoken about filming sex scenes in other interviews recently in relation to her role in Marty Supreme. While making the Josh Safdie movie, it stood out to her how much things have changed on set.

"There's now something called an intimacy coordinator, which I did not know existed," the Oscar-winner told Vanity Fair in March. "I was like, 'Girl, I'm from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera's on.'"

Paltrow said that she and Chalamet both decided that they were comfortable telling the intimacy coordinator, "I think we’re good. You can step a little bit back."

She went on, "I don’t know how it is for kids who are starting out, but… if someone is like, 'Okay, and then he’s going to put his hand here' ... I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that."

She added of her intimate scenes with 30-year-old Chalamet, "I was like, 'Okay, great. I’m 109 years old. You're 14.'"

Giving unsolicited advice of any kind can be a delicate undertaking, but that goes double—maybe triple—when it comes to giving unsolicited advice about someone's physical appearance.

Gwyneth Paltrow revealed she learned this lesson the hard way recently, when she offered her Marty Supreme costar Timothée Chalamet some skincare advice that was unwelcome in the worst way.

The awkward encounter happened on one of the pair's first few days of filming Marty Supreme, and, when Paltrow noticed acne scarring on her costar's face, she offered up well-intentioned advice for addressing the issue.

Unfortunately for Goop founder, what she didn't realize was that the acne scarring she was noticing came courtesy of the film's makeup department.

The Oscar-winner had a good sense of a humor about the awkward moment during her recent interview on The Awardist podcast, smiling and laughing about the faux pas as she told the story to host Gerrad Hall.

"Yeah, and, imagine I was up close to him, and I was like, 'my gosh,' because when I had seen him [before], his skin was always so beautiful," Paltrow said of her surprise at noticing that Chalamet's skin appeared to be far less perfect in person than it looked in movies and pictures. "And I was like, I didn't realize that he has this scarring on his face."

Of course, since Chalamet's skin really is incredible, both in movies and pictures and IRL, he, understandably, had a pretty strong reaction to Paltrow's unnecessary advice.

"And then he's like, 'Are you insane? Like, this is makeup,'" Paltrow said, laughing while she remembered her costar's reaction to her mistake. "He's like, "I have good skin.' I was like, 'I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.'"

The actor has been sporting more than a few 'fits in the color in the lead up to the release of his latest film, the A24 drama Marty Supreme, which lands in theaters on Christmas Day.

There's no doubt that the press tour has hit your timeline. (You yourself may have even been plagued by the question on every film girlie's mind for the past three weeks: How do I get my hands on a Marty Supreme jacket?) But in the off chance that you haven't, scroll for a bit. You'll likely see clips of Timmy walking through Times Square flanked by anthropomorphic orange ping-pong balls, twinning in custom tangerine Chrome Hearts looks with his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, or sporting a Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford suit, opposite his mom in the same hue, at a premiere.

As any cinephile or fashion fiend will tell you, this just so happens to be Chalamet's latest, fun take on the recent trend of themed red-carpet dressing.

Why might this neon-tinged orange be the color that the star (who's seemingly gunning for a Best Actor nomination) is taking to all of his red carpet appearances this year? Well, like most themed dressing, the answer lies in the film that's being promoted itself.

Why has Timothée Chalamet been wearing orange to support 'Marty Supreme?'

Directed by Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme is a sports drama set in the early '50s and loosely inspired by table tennis star Marty Reisman, starring Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a N.Y.C.-born ping-pong champion. Marty is charismatic, confident, and determined to become the best at his calling, no matter what financial woes or doubting skeptics get in his way. (Just think back to Chalamet's SAG acceptance speech earlier this year to understand why critics are calling this film his best performance yet.)

In a pivotal scene from the film, as seen in the teaser, Marty pitches a custom orange ping-pong ball that would help the audience keep track of the game better and also give him some brand recognition. His co-worker adds to his pitch, saying, "It's an original ball for an original guy. It's the Marty Supreme one, not the Marty normal ball."

The orange ball continues to be a symbol throughout the drama—and it's certainly become a signature element of Marty Supreme's marketing. Chalamet, who also serves as a producer on the film, has led the charge with promotional materials like the Marty Supreme blimp and a Marty Supreme Wheaties box. The star pitched both of these—as well as orange becoming the film's answer to Barbie pink in a "leaked" marketing meeting shared on A24's YouTube channel. The indie production house even now sells a "Marty Supreme: Dream Big" ornament in its store.

In an interview with the BBC, Chalamet said he hopes the press tour will inspire audiences to get a ticket to the cinema. "I feel like my responsibility as a young actor, especially, is less to go, 'Hey, how do we get people to revisit this traditional form?' and rather to go, 'Hey, how do we take this traditional form and bring it to people?'"

Any millennial or movie buff will recognize Stone's Donna Karan set from 1998's Great Expectations. The romantic drama turned out to be one of Paltrow's most memorable performances, thanks in part to the top-tier costumes. One of his first moves was the launch of GapStudio, a red carpet-friendly-but-still-under-$250 collection favored by celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Demi Moore, and Cynthia Erivo. For his next act, the EVP and Creative Director of Gap Inc. is calling on some more famous friends—two mavens of Los Angeles cool-girl style that, shockingly, haven't posed for a campaign together—to unveil his latest designs.

Gwyneth Paltrow and her daughter, Apple Martin, star in GapStudio's Fall/Winter Collection 03 campaign, which explores the idea of a shared closet (one full of Gap, of course) that spans generations and supersedes seasonal trends. Photographed by Mario Sorrenti, the images touch on the ‘90s New York inspiration inherent throughout the clothes themselves. There's also a short film directed by LOOK & Julian Klincewicz in which the iconic mother-daughter duo discuss their personal styles and how both have evolved.

The 38-piece Fall 2025 assortment, which is available on Gap's website now, mixes '90s-era minimalism with the romanticism and femininity of the '60s. It toes the razor-thin line between nostalgia and modernity, playing into the heritage label's strengths as a wardrobe builder for the ages.

There are glimmers of Paltrow's classically refined style in the cotton-poplin pussy-bow blouses, while her daughter’s spirit shines through in the sculptural denim dresses and mesh tops made for layering. Then, there are the pieces that sit somewhere in the generational middle ground, such as the perfectly tailored satin slip dresses and the supremely cozy-looking wool coats.

Paltrow has owned the blue St. Louis model since 2010, but somehow, it looked good as new. Her initials, in white and red, were embossed onto the chevron Goyardine exterior.

While her bag was pure Rihanna-core, the rest of Paltrow's outfit took a page out of Kendall Jenner's travel look book. She pulled off the capri pant trend, which Jenner styled outside Venice's airport in June. Instead of the model's tank top, Paltrow wore a cowl-neck long-sleeve underneath a black blazer.

The Goop dynasty is expanding. On September 14, Gwyneth Paltrow interrupted scheduled New York Fashion Week coverage to introduce Gwyn, her newest fashion line.

Fashion enthusiasts would've given up a kidney to be there, but alas, Paltrow only invited a handful of tastemakers to the ultra-private showing. It wasn't even on the official Fashion Month calendar. Instead, the brand waited until after the event ended to share FOMO-inducing sneak peeks on Instagram.

Gwyn's IG stories captured every corner of the "concept store" in Tribeca, but allow me to set the scene. Intricate table-scapes offered physical campaign photos, decadent bouquets, and monogrammed cigarettes (only to be picked up by silver tongs). Carved-out zucchinis showcased the new Gwyn logo, in all its nostalgic, Sans-serif glory. Flower-looking chandeliers shined a light on Paltrow's designs, or as she calls them, "Trend-proof, luxurious wardrobe staples designed for the dynamic, feminine pragmatist.”

Swiping through photos felt like touring Paltrow's closet. Cashmere knits, classic outerwear, and '90s-inspired button-downs hung from clothing racks and armoires alike. Turns out, guests were in the presence of Gwyn's Fall 2025 collection, which features pea coats, pleated dresses, denim shirts, leather skirts, tailored pants, and "much more on the way."

Paltrow appointed Sofía Menassé, design director at G.Label, to the team, continuing their year-long collaboration. Menassé came to the brand from The Row and Maison Margiela, hence Gwyn's overarching affinity for minimalism. "Each piece is still made in Italy, with the same unwavering commitment to beautiful materials and craftsmanship," Paltrow shared in an official statement.

The first collection is made up of 36 elevated basics, all of which have Paltrow's polished touch. Knitwear and coats appear to be Gwyn's calling cards, which clearly follow the G.Label's lead. With it being fall, I was immediately drawn to the knitwear—especially a turquoise ribbed cardigan. But I stayed for the clean-cut craftsmanship modeled in the trousers. Menassé says, "the smallest details are the most important," and I can tell.

Gwyn's ultimate goal is to provide a capsule wardrobe to "a woman with a lot on her plate." Envision a slightly more mature The Row girl, plus sleek accents straight out of the founder's rotation. Paltrow described its aesthetic to Vogue as "a little more international, a little less California." To me, it sounds like the breezy bodices and linen pants of Paltrow summers past have been replaced with clean-cut counterparts.

Are you tapping into suede's full styling potential this fall? I know I want to. Only one suede jacket sits in my coat closet so far. According to Gwyneth Paltrow, the velvety finish should dominate my shoe rack, too.

On Sept. 9, the unofficial start of Fashion Month, Paltrow was spotted on a commercial set wearing the suede shoes of my dreams. The crossover slingback straps and pointed square toes suggests they're olive green Proenza Schoulers. With 3.5" heels, they're just as tall as Paltrow's red carpet-ready pairs. The only difference? She usually goes with patent leather over suede at A-list affairs. Here, however, they felt perfect for autumn in New York. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if similar styles popped up at New York Fashion Week. Paltrow's approval tends to have that effect.

Otherwise, she looked ready for a 9-to-5 at Goop's offices in a beige blazer and matching slim trousers. Both pieces boasted Bottega Veneta tags. A white tank top peeked out from underneath her shoulder-padded topper.

Zoë Kravitz and Hailey Bieber prefer to go the wide-leg route, inspired by their fellow New York It girls. But if Paltrow went wide-leg, her footwear would've been tricker to ID.

All over New York, the best-dressed shoppers are wearing in heavy rotation suede flats, heels, and sneakers. In late July, Dakota Johnson kicked things off with suede The Row sneakers. The Owen Runners mirror the same heightened soles as your favorite New Balances, except with an $820 price tag. The answer, it seems, is to hardly distinguish between the two.

Much ado was made over Kardashian's first outfit of the journey as she walked up the Voltaire courthouse steps on May 14 to testify in vintage John Galliano and heaps of diamonds. In isolation, her 52.17-carat Samer Halimeh necklace and 4.55-carat Repossi ear cuff were a defiant gesture as Kardashian faced the "grandpa robbers" on trial. Between the strong shoulders and exaggerated waist of her Galliano suit-dress and the glittering diamonds circling her neck and resting on her fingertips, Kardashian deployed her riches like a jewel-encrusted shield. Robbers could try to run off with her jewelry, but the material and cultural wealth she's accumulated are untouchable.

As Kardashian's visit to the city overlapped with pre-nuptial celebrations for Lauren Sanchez, the former broadcast journalist and bride-to-be of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, she continued to armor herself in luxury fashion. She wasn't required to appear in court each day of the trial, so she set out shopping with her mother, Kris Jenner, and linking up with stars like Katy Perry and Sanchez, in a range of vintage furs and off-the-runway archival pieces. One day, she paired a Conner Ives coat trimmed in ostrich feathers with a baseball cap; the next, she layered a Louis Vuitton fur scarf over leggings and Saint Laurent leopard print heels.

Each time the Skims mogul left her suite at Cheval Blanc Paris, a vintage fur by Dior or Vuitton draped off her shoulders. Saint Laurent and Amina Muaddi stilettos encased her feet. Outfit after outfit exhibited the same over-the-top opulence defining Kardashian's style when she's at home in Calabasas, California, down to the skintight leggings juxtaposed with her sky-high heels.

The connection between Kardashian's testimony outfit and her looks for recess from court was strongest on an evening out with Sanchez's bachelorette party. She once again turned to vintage John Galliano, selecting a Spring 1995 gown with similarly exaggerated proportions around her hips and a slight train. Just like the May 14 look, she also frosted herself in diamonds by Repossi, Harry Winston, and Van Cleef & Arpels. Had her evening gown come with sleeves or a dinner jacket, the look would have felt like a copy-and-paste from the first outfit of the trip.

Celebrities who've previously been to court—whether to testify themselves or support loved ones—have toned down their extravagant luxury tendencies. Rihanna appeared for A$AP Rocky's assault trial in Los Angeles this spring wearing relatively understated Saint Laurent suiting and leather coats by Phoebe Philo. Gwyneth Paltrow's appearance on the witness stand during her eight-day trial for a ski collision accident in 2023 featured neutral knitwear by The Row and her G.Label by Goop brand—spawning several admiring fashion stories along the way.

These are just two instances when A-listers relied on the designers they love, without necessarily flashing luxury logos or multi-carat diamonds. To win over the jury (and the court of public opinion), appearing relatively relatable was key.

The nature of Kim Kardashian's case—and schedule—seems to have called for a different dress code. It's all speculation from the outside, but one can guess that the reality TV star finds comfort in the opulent image she's projecting.

Kardashian's robbery trial is expected to end on Friday, May 23, according to NPR. If she returns to court to see the robbers brought to justice, all signs indicate more diamonds may join her in the stands.

She stated in her May 14 testimony that she was speaking in order to put the entire ordeal "to rest." Her case for shielding herself with the priciest pieces money can buy, however, remains unending.

Gwyneth Paltrow just proved less is always more in a white strapless gown and barely-there makeup. On Saturday, April 5, Paltrow wore the pared back outfit on the red carpet for the Breakthrough Prize, a ceremony honoring "the stars of science," which was attended by a plethora of Hollywood stars.

"I genuinely do not understand this at all, whatsoever," Paltrow replied. She then added, "Do you understand this?" while panning the camera over to Markle, who was sitting right next to her. The Suits star shrugged and took a bite of pie, before starting to laugh.

The feud rumors about Markle and Paltrow have included people claiming that Paltrow was making fun of Markle when she posted a video of herself cooking breakfast. Then there was talk that Markle was getting back at Paltrow when she posted a video of herself making a banana split. As reported by BuzzFeed, Paltrow has long posted videos of herself cooking on Instagram, it's just that Markle cooking in a similarly idyllic kitchen is on people's minds now because of her show. It was also thought that Paltrow and her trainer, Tracy Anderson, were dissing Markle together through a video of Anderson making a salad, according to Us Weekly.

Now, it is settled that Markle and Paltrow are totally cool. Paltrow already shared as much in an interview with Vanity Fair published a week earlier.

"I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes," the 52-year-old said. "I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try."

She also explained that she didn't really know Markle—who lives in the same California town, Montecito—personally.

"I don’t know Meghan and Harry,” she said. "I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all. Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie."

It turned out Markle went to Paltrow's place for pie and feud squashing instead. Maybe a Goop x As Ever collab is on the way, too. I wouldn't put it past them.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Gwyneth Paltrow defended Markle, despite not knowing her personally.

For Paltrow, her support for Markle comes down to one thing. She explained that when “there’s noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them."

There's certainly noise about Markle and there has been for years—ever since it was announced that the Suits actor was dating Prince Harry in 2016. She also just announced a food line and a podcast. Starting a lifestyle brand isn't out of the Duchess of Sussex's wheelhouse—she wrote a lifestyle blog for years before she became internationally famous—but it certainly brings to mind Paltrow's infamous brand, Goop, criticism and all.

Notably, Paltrow's Montecito neighbor Meghan Markle celebrated the local bookshop's grand opening last fall with two stylish surprise appearances: The Duchess of Sussex wore a business casual navy blue jumpsuit for the first event, followed by an all-white outfit styled by Jamie Mizrahi for the second. Paltrow's courtroom wardrobe was a parade of haute-minimalist looks built around cozy sweaters and gauzy blouses from her ready-to-wear line, G.Label by Goop, along with designer staple pieces such as camel brown Celine combat boots, black leather Proenza Schouler pants, a navy blue Ralph Lauren blazer, an olive green coat from The Row, and gold Foundrae jewelry. Nearly a full calendar year after the highly publicized trial, that high-low mix of brands remains Paltrow's go-to outfit formula. Gwyneth Paltrow is officially an empty-nester.

The Goop founder has just spoken candidly about what it's been like for her since her second child, son Moses Martin, 18, left for college. (Her daughter, Apple Martin, 20, started college at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2022, while Moses just enrolled at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, this fall.)

"It's very different. I have waves of grief and sadness," Paltrow told her followers in an Instagram Stories Q&A this week (via the Daily Mail).

"I am kind of getting back in touch with this part of myself that I haven't felt like since I was in my 20s before I had kids. Like, a little more space and imagination, maybe. A little more inner space for what I might want to do that day, stuff like that.

"So, it's evolving. It's interesting."

The Avengers actress had already addressed how she might feel about her newly child-free home ahead of Moses finishing high school, in a March 2024 interview with the Sunday Times. Things were compounded by the fact that her husband Brad Falchuk's son Brody also started at Yale this fall.

"I’ve been so defined and so fulfilled by motherhood. It’s been kind of the central … it’s been like the central kind of … I don’t know even how to articulate it!" she said at the time.

"It’s like the guiding force. It’s what I return to. I observe a lot of my friends who’ve had kids who’ve gone off to college. Your kid … it changes. And, you know, they come home a lot and all that stuff, but it’s not quite the same as living under the same roof all the days of the year. So I’m just trying to be open to what that means."

Paltrow shares Moses and Apple with Chris Martin, to whom she was married between 2003 and 2016. She's also become a loving stepmom to Brody and his sister Isabella, after tying the knot with Falchuk in 2018.

Both being in long-term relationships, of course these two didn't kiss as themselves, they kissed in character while filming their upcoming movie Marty Supreme—but still! (Paltrow married Brad Falchuk in 2018, while Chalamet has been dating Kylie Jenner since last year.)

On Oct. 16, Paltrow and Chalamet were pictured passionately making out and otherwise embracing in a Central Park tunnel, as part of the movie production.

In the images, the Iron Man actress was wearing a sumptuous red satin ball gown with black satin opera gloves and sparkly drop earrings, with her bright blonde hair styled in an elaborate bun. Little is known about Marty Supreme so far, though judging by these photos alone, it promises to be an extremely intriguing release.

According to Deadline, the film is "based loosely" on the life of '50s table tennis champion Marty Reisman. It is directed by Josh Safdie, who was notably behind the 2019 Adam Sandler film Uncut Gems, and also stars Odessa A'zion, Fran Drescher, Sandra Bernhard, and Tyler the Creator.

This marks Paltrow's first major feature-film appearance since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. These days, the actress focuses mostly on Goop, her wellness platform and lifestyle retail brand.

Meanwhile, Chalamet is one of Hollywood's most prolific actors of the last few years. Most recently, he starred in Dune: Part Two, Wonka, and Bones and All. He is most famous for the Dune series, as well as Call Me By Your Name and Little Women.

There are also signs of influences from modern Parisian apartments and mid-century Italian modernist furniture in the low-to-the-ground couches, marble sconces, and sculptural, exposed-bulb chandeliers.

"In our view, beauty comes from individuality and refinement, and that’s what we infused into every detail of this collection," Paltrow said in a press release. As the Princess of Wales made her triumphant return to royal duty at Saturday’s Trooping the Colour—her first appearance in public life in nearly six months, since Christmas Day 2023—the entire world was watching, including one very, very famous A-list celebrity.

After King Charles’ annual birthday parade concluded, the Prince and Princess of Wales took to Instagram and wrote of the occasion that it was “A memorable day at The King’s Birthday Parade. From the Irish Guards Trooping their colour to seeing so many faces on the Mall, thank you for making it a day to remember.” Among the slew of other comments came one from none other than Gwyneth Paltrow, who commented under the post that she was “So happy to see you looking so happy and well,” referring, of course, to Kate, who announced in March that she is receiving treatment for a type and stage of cancer that is still undisclosed to the public. Paltrow included a heart emoji for good measure at the end of her comment.

As of this writing, Paltrow’s comment has generated over 6,000 likes of its own—and counting.

“Gwyneth didn’t have to make any comment about Kate being at Trooping the Colour, but the fact she has means she fully supports her and, like the rest of us, wants her to make a speedy recovery,” royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun. 

Indeed, Paltrow is clearly a big fan of Kate’s—I mean, aren’t we all, really?—as back in March, after Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in a vulnerable video message, Paltrow wrote on social media that Kate was “A pillar of grace and strength!” She then added that she was “Sending love.”

Kate isn’t the only royal that Paltrow likes: in May 2023, Paltrow and her husband Brad Falchuk grabbed dinner at a Michelin-star sushi hotspot with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle; Cameron Diaz and her husband, Benji Madden, as well as Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd and her husband, Texas oil heir Michael Herd, also joined. The star-studded dinner came less than a week after King Charles’ Coronation that same month, Page Six reports.

Actress and mom Gwyneth Paltrow is getting real about the more stressful aspects of parenthood.

While speaking at the entrepreneur's "Ask Me Anything" session during her 11th In Goop Health Summit hosted at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort Golf Club & Spa in Carlsbad, California, the mom of two revealed the big parenting milestone that is seriously messing with her head: Becoming an "empty nester" when her 18-year-old son, Moses, heads off to college at Brown University this upcoming fall.

"It’s kind of giving me a nervous breakdown, if I’m honest," Paltrow admitted, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "I started being like: ‘Oh my God, and I need to quit my job and I need to sell my house and I need to move.’ It’s sort of putting things into turmoil."

The Iron Man actress went on to say that her "identity has been being a mother," adding that her oldest, Apple, is about to turn 20 in May.

"I’ve oriented my whole life around them and their schedules and when school starts," she continued. "You start to let go in increments when they’re driving themselves around or doing certain things. It is a slower process. I feel really lucky because I have a close group of mom friends and we all raised our kids alongside one another. So we’re kind of in it together."

Paltrow shares two children—Apple and Moses—with her ex-husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The pair were married for 13 years before they announced their "conscious uncoupling" in 2014 and became officially divorced in 2016, People reported at the time.

"In a way, my relationship with Chris is better (now). So, I do think that it can be done," Paltrow said in an interview with television host Drew Barrymore in 2020. "I really wanted my kids to not be traumatized if it were possible. Chris and I committed to putting them first, and that's harder than it looks."

During the same recent Q&A, Paltrow was also candid about her mental health and how often she goes to therapy—not just for her sake but for benefit of her relationship.

"I speak with my therapist once a week and then I also have an executive coach I work with," she explained. "When my husband and I need it, we jump in and do couples therapy, which I think is super helpful if you want to be in a good long-term situation."

She went on to admit that her and her husband, Brad Falchuk, don't go to couples therapy "that often," in part because she says they "only really ever fight about" the kids.

"We’re here in this body and mind one time; let’s get as close to ourselves as possible and maximize that relationship," she continued. "The only way to do that is through the hard truth with yourself and vulnerability with someone else, and therapy is a good place to start.”

Gwyneth Paltrow may be a famous film star, an entrepreneur who founded the sometimes unrelatable lifestyle brand Goop—but, like many if not all mothers, Paltrow has had to make sacrifices when it comes to her career as she raised children, a relatable reality far too many women know well.

Paltrow shares daughter Apple and son Moses with ex-husband Chris Martin, and said during an interview on Today with Hoda and Jenna that the public would be “shocked” to learn which movies she was forced to pass on because of her obligation to her family.

During the interview, Zanna Roberts Rassi mentioned that Paltrow’s mother, Blythe Danner—also an actress—“gave up some incredible roles” to raise her family, and wondered if Paltrow, a Best Actress Oscar winner, had done the same.

“There were a lot,” Paltrow admitted, per The Hollywood Reporter. “I mean, it’s funny, because it didn’t feel like a sacrifice to me at the time, but if I look back at it through a cultural lens, I think, like, wow, if people knew that I didn’t do this movie or that movie, they’d be quite shocked.”

After having kids, Paltrow became much more selective in what roles she took on, and she told People last November that she hasn’t been in an entire movie since before her daughter was born in 2004: “Well, it’s kind of ironic because I really stepped away from acting when Apple was born,” she said. “The last time I was in every scene of a movie was when I was pregnant with her. When I had her, it just—everything felt redefined for me, and I thought, ‘I’m not sure that I want to do this so much as a career.' I definitely don’t want to…I’m not going to go away for months on end.” 

Since then, Paltrow founded Goop, and has largely been focused on building her wellness empire since, rather than acting. To that end, though, Paltrow told Roberts Rassi that she “never says never” to the idea of returning to a movie set.

On motherhood, Paltrow said, per People, that she’s “been so defined and so fulfilled by motherhood,” adding “It’s like the guiding force. It’s what I return to.”

Paltrow admitted to The Sunday Times that she "had never seen a reality TV show until COVID," when everyone was quarantined at home. "I had just never done it," she said. "Now it's a slippery slope."

The Iron Man actress, who popularized the term "conscious uncoupling" 10 years ago, is in good company with her TV preferences, though. Plenty of A-listers, including Travis Kelce, Daniel Radcliffe, and Kim Kardashian have admitted they, too, watch Love Is Blind.

How would you feel if a movie you were starring in got a special screening at the White House—and it put the president to sleep? Gwyneth Paltrow hilariously recounted that President Bill Clinton (apparently not a fan of 19th century comedies) slept through a showing of Emma, a factoid she divulged on “Hot Ones,” per Entertainment Tonight.

“Is it true that Bill Clinton passed out asleep during a White House screening of Emma?” host Sean Evans asked, apparently aware of a pop culture deep cut we were not.

“True,” Paltrow said, barely able to contain her laughter. “He was snoring right in front of me. I was like, ‘Wow, I guess this is going to be a real hit movie.’” 

Paltrow was the star of the 1996 period comedy set in 19th century England. She played 21-year-old Emma Woodhouse; the film is based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel of the same name. It went on to gross nearly $40 million at the box office and was nominated for two Academy Awards—and that success led Paltrow to deliver a message to Clinton (albeit jokingly): “But it was [a real hit], so f—k you, Bill Clinton!” she quipped.

Clueless, by the way, also functions as a loose retelling of Emma; Clueless was released in 1995 with Alicia Silverstone playing the lead role (whose name was Cher, not Emma—modern adaptation and all). Later, Anya Taylor-Joy starred in a 2020 remake of Emma.

Paltrow rarely has time for acting these days as she runs her Goop lifestyle empire and reflected on those years in Hollywood versus the present day: “I think, if I look at the industry as a whole, this sort of big push into superhero movies—you can only make so many good ones that feel truly original, and yet they’re still always trying to reach as many people as possible, which sometimes hinders quality or specificity or a real point of view,” she said. “You’re absolutely right, I grew up doing those movies, and I sometimes lament the fact that I look back at some of [the mid-budget] movies I made in the ‘90s and think, ‘That just wouldn’t get made now.’”

As she partners with the Moments of Space app, the Iron Man star has spoken out about the unfair comparisons that were made between her lifestyle and wellness site, Goop, and Kourtney Kardashian's Poosh when the latter first launched.

"I was so upset when Poosh was launched and people were like, 'This is a ripoff of Goop,'" Paltrow told People. "I was like, this is so awful, and trying to pit us against one another, which is so crazy."

In response, the two women decided to collaborate with each other, which resulted in the launch of a Goop x Poosh candle with the slogan "This Smells Like My Pooshy." This was an inside joke within an inside joke—based on the "This Smells Like My Vagina" candle Paltrow previously launched in response to criticism Goop received about "unscientific" claims surrounding vaginal health.

Speaking to People, Paltrow said that the comparisons being made between her and Kardashian made her "so excited to do the candle." She added, "I thought it was hilarious."

On a more serious note, the Goop founder elaborated on why it's so important for women to work together and not give into patriarchal standards that would have them compete for success.

"The world is better and stronger when women are in cahoots with one another," she said. "I feel like the patriarchy does this thing to us where they make us feel scarcity and that there's not enough for all of us to do our thing. And it's so detrimental."

Are congratulations in order for Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin? It seems so—Page Six is reporting that, after over six years of dating, the couple are engaged, and have received a blessing from Martin’s ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, to boot.

The proposal happened “a while ago,” The Mirror reports: “They have been besotted with each other from day one, so taking this next step was inevitable,” a source told the outlet. “They are in no rush to plan the wedding but are just enjoying making their commitment official.” 

Johnson has been all over the headlines this week thanks to a wide-ranging interview with Bustle, including making rare comments about her personal life. Of Martin—who Johnson began dating in 2017—she said that she loves watching him perform onstage with Coldplay, telling the publication “I could watch him every day. I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like, I don’t know…I’m watching my most favorite being do his most favorite thing.” She added that “Watching anyone who’s so good at something is sexy.”

In the same interview, Johnson also touched on being a stepmother to Martin’s kids he shares with Paltrow, daughter Apple and son Moses. “I love those kids like my life depends on it,” Johnson said. “With all my heart.”

Interestingly, Paltrow opened up last night about her own experience being a stepmom to husband Brad Falchuk’s kids from his previous marriage, and how her initially difficult relationship with them has morphed into them being like her own kids; she called the experience “one of my biggest learnings as a human being.” 

Johnson and Paltrow have a tight bond, and last year Paltrow posted a photo of the two of them holding hands on Instagram while out on what appears to be a chilly walk together, smiling while standing in the middle of a road. “We’re actually very good friends,” Paltrow said of her relationship with Johnson. “I love her so much. She’s an adorable, wonderful person.” As far back as Johnson’s birthday in 2019, Paltrow called her an “absolute gem” and, in addition to sharing a connection through Martin, both are, obviously, well-known actresses as well.

Johnson and Martin briefly split in 2019 after about two years together, Page Six reports, and in 2020 sparked engagement rumors “when she was photographed with a sizeable emerald ring on her left ring finger,” the outlet writes. Though that was a false alarm, it seems that now it’s really happening.

In her Bustle profile, Johnson opened up candidly about not just becoming a stepmom but possibly bearing children herself, telling the outlet of motherhood “I’m so open to that. I’ve gotten to this place where I really want to experience everything that life has to offer. And especially being a woman, I’m like, ‘What a magical f—king thing to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience.’ If that’s meant to happen for me, I’m totally down for it.” 

She added, “I’ve been really tripping out recently like, we’re not here for very long. There’s so much to eat up and learn and grow from and experience and feel. That includes all the pain and the suffering and feeling so helpless about the world. Most days I feel like the most useless piece of s—t. I’m sitting in this dumb—s chair, talking about this dumb—s movie, and there are people in excruciating catastrophes, and what can I do? I do have that incredible friction in myself. And then I’m like, ‘We’re not here for very long,’ so if I’m meant to be a mother, bring it on.”

Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about her experience of being a stepmom to her husband Brad Falchuk's children.

In a conversation with former U.S. Ambassador to The Bahamas Nicole Avant as part of the Visionary Women's International Women’s Day Summit, Paltrow brought up the topic because, like her, Avant is also stepmom to two kids.

Addressing the audience, the actress joked, "It's a bitch, right, guys?" (via People).

She went on, "No, I actually—I really like to talk about this because it's one of my biggest learnings as a human being. And my area of growth personally came from the initial difficult relationship I had with my step-kids, and now they're like my kids."

Futher elaborating on how difficult it was for her to figure out what her role in your step-children's life was, Paltrow said, "it's almost like you have to embody the spirit of the sun and just give and not expect anything back."

She added, "I just learned to try to just keep shining like the sun and never keeping score."

Paltrow is step-mom to Falchuk's kids Isabella, 19, and Brody, 17, whom he shares with ex Suzanne Bukinik. As for the Goop founder, she shares children Apple, 19, and Moses, 17, with ex Chris Martin.

It's not the first time Paltrow has opened up about her experience of being a stepmom.

"You know, there’s no book on this; nobody tells us what to do," she said during an Instagram Q&A in August (via People).

She continued, "And in fact, all of the existing media around what a stepmother is casts us in this evil, villainous light. So it’s kind of like trying to avoid land mines. And then you’re going into a family with dynamics. And there’s all kinds of fear around loss and what does this person mean?"

At the time, she made it clear that she wouldn't change her relationship to Isabella and Brody as it has evolved. "But for myself, the minute I decided, and fully embodied the idea that my step-kids were my kids and I love them just as much and I gave them the same rules and boundaries, and just kind of whole-heartedly went for it, then the easier the whole thing got," she said. "And now it’s pretty great." :)

In the wide world of royal aficionados, this question has taken up more rent space in heads around the globe then maybe we care to admit: what will the reinvention of Meghan Markle entail? Any royal fan could surmise, after she hired powerhouse talent agency William Morris Endeavor last April, that a change (or two, or 10) was on the horizon. But what, exactly? Would she return to acting? Write a memoir? Run for political office? All have been tossed into the ring as possibilities, but it’s becoming more and more likely that we were wrong about them all, and that another path could be the one the Duchess of Sussex chooses to walk down.

Page Six reports that Meghan is looking to take the final year of her multi-million-dollar Netflix contract—which was inked in 2020, and which she shares with husband Prince Harry—and use it to become a lifestyle guru, a la Ina Garten, Martha Stewart, Gwyneth Paltrow, or Joanna Gaines.

Harry and Meghan’s Netflix deal runs until the end of 2025, and the couple have already produced the bombshell six-part docuseries Harry & Meghan and Harry’s Heart of Invictus documentary. They’re also currently producing a film adaptation of Carley Fortune’s hit novel, Meet Me at the Lake, and Harry is in talks to travel to Africa for another documentary. For Meghan’s part, Hollywood insiders expect Meghan’s next Netflix project to be in the same realm as her former lifestyle blog, “The Tig,” which she shuttered before she married Harry in 2018.

“From what I understand, I think Meghan will take on Martha Stewart, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ina Garten and play them at their own game,” an industry source told Page Six. 

The outlet reports that she’s getting advice from friends like Clare Waight Keller, the former artistic director of Givenchy and the designer of Meghan’s wedding dress. Meghan and Waight Keller grabbed lunch Thursday “at Beverly Hills power spot Ciccone,” Page Six reports; Meghan is also reported to be getting tips from Victoria Jackson, a makeup entrepreneur and QVC star who appeared as a guest on Meghan’s podcast “Archetypes.”

The breadcrumbs are being laid for a return to the lifestyle space for Meghan: earlier this month, she visited the Southern California Welcome Project for “an evening of cooking and storytelling.” In 2018, while still a working member of the royal family, she penned a cookbook to raise funds for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire in London. Page Six reports that the publishers of that cookbook “also pitched a cooking series—along the lines of the power of food bringing communities together” to Meghan. (All of this sounds incredibly up her alley.)

“This would not surprise me,” they said of Meghan wanting her own piece of the lifestyle pie. “She would have to be relatable and natural, the way Drew Barrymore is. It can’t feel contrived or like she’s acting.”

The move back into lifestyle would require her to do exactly what she did on “The Tig”—let fans into her personal life. “The reason Martha, Joanna, and Gwyneth have crushed it is because they’ve let viewers into their most private spaces and shared their biggest secrets,” said Rachel Robinson, a former Snapchat executive and writer for the “Highly Flammable” newsletter on Substack. “Authenticity is key in the lifestyle arena and those that succeed tend to be willing to share their whole lives. Think about it—what do we not know about Gwyneth Paltrow?”

Richardson added “In Harry & Meghan and the Oprah interview, Meghan let cameras capture some aspects of her private life. But to pull off a successful lifestyle show, she’ll have to be prepared to swing the door all the way open.”

Meghan herself teased multiple projects coming up, telling reporters on the red carpet at the Variety “Power of Women” event in November “We have so many exciting things on the slate. I can’t wait until we can announce them, but I’m just really proud of what we’re creating.” Netflix’s chief content officer Bela Bajaria also said earlier this month of Harry and Meghan that “They have a couple of unscripted things they’re working on…[and] they have a movie in development, a [scripted] series that they’re working on.” 

It's certainly not a challenge to imagine Meghan in the lifestyle space; she found success with “The Tig” long before she ever met Harry, and home décor and cooking and travel have long been passions of hers. “Becoming a lifestyle guru offers endless opportunities to make serious money via brand deals,” Richardson said. “It’s not difficult to imagine the clamor for Duchess of Sussex-branded cookware, furniture, loungewear, yoga mats.”

In an interview to promote his book Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, Sussex biographer Omid Scobie said that stepping into the lifestyle space is very much a possibility: “I’m not being deliberately mysterious,” Scobie told The Independent about the somewhat vague passage in Endgame where he references Meghan’s return to lifestyle content. (In the book, Scobie wrote Meghan is currently focused on building “something more accessible, something rooted in her love of details, curating, hosting, life’s simple pleasures, and family.”) “My mind always goes to [Paltrow’s] Goop, but when I suggested that to someone with some knowledge, they said, ‘Oh, no, this isn’t going to be about selling products.’ So, who knows? The next Martha Stewart?”

By the way, Page Six reports that, when the deal between Netflix and the Sussexes ends at the end of 2025, neither side will likely want to renew the deal. “Look, both Meghan and Harry and Netflix got exactly what they wanted,” a Netflix source told Page Six. “It was a good deal for both of them, if you look at the success of the Harry & Meghan documentary. But where else does it go?” 

As the song notes, "breaking up is hard to do"—especially if you're a celebrity. When there's millions (even billions!) on the line and a lot of media attention focused on the couple, things can get messy. This is particularly true when the couple got together without signing a prenuptial agreement that would include a plan to split assets in case of divorce. Often, these marriages took place before one member of the couple became a celebrity—and, in the absence of a prenup, the other member can be entitled to up to half of all assets.

It's important to note, here, that these are just the settlements we're aware of. Some of these are estimated (and weren't actually made public). Sometimes these settlements can include lucrative properties that aren't part of the lump sum, or pricey child support setups. Inflation can change the value of a settlement; $50 million in 1990, for example, is a lot more today. Either way, though, these dissolutions were très expensive, both for the time and now. And lots of them were très dramatic, too!

Slash and Perla Hudson

The musician Slash agreed to pay his ex-wife Perla Hudson over $6.5 million when they divorced in 2018—and, on top of that, $100,000 a month in spousal support and $39,000 a month in child support according to Page Six. It was the end of a long and drawn-out process, including accusations of bigamy(!).

Scooter Braun and Yael Cohen

When Scooter Braun's divorce was settled with Yael Cohen in 2021, according to People, the agreement included $20 million in spousal support and $60,000 per month in child support (they have three children together) as well as Cohen retaining some properties.

Kelsey and Camille Grammer

According to Entertainment Tonight, Camille Grammer defended her $30 million divorce settlement from actor Kelsey Grammer by saying, "Well, I was married for 13 years. That's a long time...I just felt that, you know, working, and I worked hard. I just didn't sit back, buying fancy clothes and shoving bonbons in my face. I mean, I worked hard."

Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin

The exact terms of the settlement between Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin (after a long, contentious divorce battle) is not known. But we do know that the legal bill alone cost $3 million. The two hadn't signed a prenuptial agreement, and it was a public and nasty split.

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock

The divorce settlement between Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock included $1.3 million as well as $45,000 a month in child support. However, in 2023, according to People, Blackstock was ordered to pay Clarkson "$2,641,374 for unlawfully procuring deals as her manager that should've been handled by a talent agent." 

Sandy Mahl and Garth Brooks

According to reports, Garth Brooks paid Sandy Mahl (who was a songwriter and reportedly influential in Brooks' early career; The two share three children) $125 million as a part of their divorce settlement. According to CBS News, this payment was "$9 million for each year the two were married."

Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall

The famed musician and the famed model ended their relationship with an annulment (their wedding ceremony in Bali was ruled not valid under English law), and their settlement was in the millions—it was reported she was seeking 30 million pounds, and the payout was estimated to be somewhere around $20 million.

Lionel and Diane Richie

The divorce settlement between Lionel Richie and wife of seven years, Diane, reportedly cost $20 million. According to E! News, in her petition for alimony, "she reportedly claimed a monthly clothing allowance of $15,000 as well as a plastic surgery budget of $20,000 a year."

Johnny Carson and Joanna Holland

According to Page Six, Johnny Carson's divorce from Joanna Holland cost an estimated $20 million in cash and property. Carson, who was America's favorite TV show host, was married a total of four times, and his multiple unions were a running joke on his show and in interviews.

Ted Danson and Casey Coates

After a decade and a half together (and wedded before he became a star on the show Cheers), Ted Danson and second wife Casey Coates divorced for a reported settlement of $30 million in 1993. Adjusted for inflation, that would be over $60 million in modern money.

Kenny and Marianne Rogers

With a reported settlement of $60 million, the divorce between Kenny and Marianne Rogers was expensive for the time in 1993 (in case you're wondering, adjusted for inflation that would be over $125 million). Rogers was married four times, and was with Marianne for 16 years.

Neil Diamond and Marcia Murphey

When Neil Diamond divorced his wife of 25 years, Marcia Murphey, he reportedly settled for $150 million in 1994. In modern money, that would be over $300 million. According to NBC San Diego, when asked about the divorce, Murphey said she was "worth every penny."

Dr. Dre and Nicole Young

According to TMZ, the divorce settlement between Dr. Dre and Nicole Young included $100 million—according to Rolling Stone, " more than one-fifth of the rap icon’s fortune and roughly half of his liquid assets." The two had gotten married in 1996 and were divorced in 2021.

Michael and Diandra Douglas

According to several reports, in the divorce between Michael Douglas and wife Diandra, she received more than $45 million (as well as their California home). They apparently used to share a Mallorca property, but in a rare interview Michael shared that he bought her share—and he's much happier at the property now.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline

According to Reuters, Kevin Federline may have only received $1 million from his divorce from superstar Britney Spears, but the settlement also included $20,000 a month for child support. And that number increased, by Federline's request, in subsequent years (although changes in child support aren't entirely uncommon).

Adele and Simon Koneki

After entrepreneur Simon Koneki and singer Adele announced their separation in 2019, they divorced in 2021 (the terms of their divorce were made private, but the assets to be divided totaled $171 million—and there were reports, unverified, that he received a big sum in the split).

Phil Collins and Orianne Cevey

Phil Collins and Orianne (Cevey) Bates had a very acrimonious divorce. They originally split in 2006 with a $46.68 million payout (according to People). They reconciled in 2016, then split again in 2020. Eviction notices, accusations, and auctions of belongings ended with a judge dismissal in 2022.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles

After a long, public, drawn-out separation process, Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorced in 1996. Diana asked for $75 million but only received $22.5 million. At the time, the New York Times reported that in addition to that lump sum, she received a yearly $600,000 stipend for business expenses.

Ewan McGregor and Eve Mavrakis

According to People, Ewan McGregor's split resulted in a settlement in which his ex Eve Mavrakis received $14,934 per month in child support and $35,868 per month in spousal support. Us Weekly also noted that they would split royalties for films including Star Wars—which could be quite a bit. 

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

The Beatle settled with ex Heather Mills for $50 million, according to People, "and later called his marriage to Mills his biggest regret of the decade." Oof. The two were married from 2002 to 2008; McCartney met Nancy Shevell in 2007 (first spotted together mid-divorce) and married her in 2011.

James Cameron and Linda Hamilton

According to Forbes, when Linda Hamilton divorced from James Cameron in 1999 after a year and a half of marriage, she petitioned for half of what Cameron had made in the (incredibly successful movie) Titanic. She reportedly received $50 million; Cameron had earned in the ballpark of $100 million for the movie.

Kevin Costner and Cindy Costner 

If you're thinking about Kevin Costner's tense divorce, you're probably remembering his second wife Christine (whom he divorced in 2023). His first wife, Cindy, received $80 million in their 1994 settlement; According to court documents, second wife Christine was only entitled to up to $1.5 million.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie

In 2008, one of the world's biggest power couples (Madonna and Guy Ritchie) divorced...expensively. Per Reuters, "Madonna has paid her ex-husband British director Guy Ritchie up to 60 million pounds ($92 million) to settle their divorce after eight years of marriage, her spokeswoman said."

Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow

It's not totally clear how much each of them was worth, but when Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow "consciously uncoupled" (a fancy word for divorced), they each got half of their $200 million fortune. This was never confirmed, obviously, and was reported originally by the Hindustan Times.

Harrison Ford and Melissa Mathison

According to People, the divorce between Harrison Ford and Melissa Mathison in 2004 was quite high-profile at the time (given that Ford was a superstar and the couple had been married for two decades). Mathison received $85 million in the divorce settlement, as reported by Forbes.

Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving 

According to CBS News, Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving signed a pre-nup...on a napkin, so it was ruled to not be legally binding. Irving reportedly walked away with a settlement of $100 million in 1989 (adjusted for inflation, that would be in the realm of over $253 million in modern money).

Michael and Juanita Jordan

Michael Jordan and his wife separated in 2002 and then reconciled, only to divorce for good in 2006. According to People, Juanita (Vanoy) Jordan received a $168 million payout in the divorce. When her children were adults, she opened up a fashion business called Juanita World.

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren

According to People, Elin Nordegren received $100 million in her divorce settlement with Tiger Woods. "Money doesn't make you happy, but I have to be honest: It is making some things easier," she said at the time. "I have the opportunity to be with my children as much I want, and I am able to travel to see my family and also have them come here as often as I like."

Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger

After a 25-year-long marriage (and revelations that Schwarzenegger had fathered a child with the family's housekeeper), Maria Shriver received an undisclosed amount in the settlement of their 2011 divorce. CNBC reports that the amount was estimated between $250 and $375 million.

Mel Gibson and Robyn Moore

According to ABC News, when Mel Gibson divorced wife Robyn Moore in 2011, she received $425 million (like other couples on this list, they did not have a prenuptial agreement). People reported that Moore "is entitled to half of any film residuals Gibson receives for the rest of his life."

Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos

According to Bloomberg, Mackenzie Bezos received $38.3 billion worth of Amazon stock in her 2019 divorce from Jeff Bezos (which, adjusted for inflation, would be more than $4.5 billion). After the settlement, she was listed by Forbes as one of the wealthiest women in the United States.

Bill and Melinda Gates

While the exact settlement was not made public, it was estimated that Melinda French Gates may have received $76 billion in her 2021 divorce, given that at the time of the settlement, Bill Gates was worth $152 billion. Per Forbes, French Gates received "at least $6.3 billion worth of stock."

To us normal folk, Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t always the most relatable—aspirational is more like it—but when it comes to what’s in and what’s out for her in 2024, we can relate. According to People, Paltrow’s shortlist? More alcohol (down for that) and no big shoulder pads (random, but okay with it).

The outlet caught up with Paltrow at the premiere of Netflix’s The Brothers Sun, which was co-created by Paltrow’s husband Brad Falchuk. (The “in” and “out” list, by the way, is a trend that’s gone viral on social media.) 

“I mean, I think it would be peace, understanding, rest, and more alcohol,” she said, as to what's in for her. Yep. Relatable.

As for the outs? “Out would be abject righteousness, not wanting to understand other people’s points of view, and really big shoulder pads,” Paltrow said. (Is it just us, or does it sound like she’s thought this through a little?)

Paltrow’s look for the premiere was, true to her list, shoulder pad-free. She wore a long sleeve crimson top and matching skirt set from Cong Tri that had a 1970s retro flair, thanks to its wide collar and skinny belt, People reports. She accessorized with oversize, shoulder-grazing earrings, “proving sometimes bigger is still better in some cases when it comes to fashion,” the outlet quips. 

In addition to sharing her in and out list for 2024, Paltrow posed with Falchuk and the show’s star, Michelle Yeoh, at the event.

You know you’ve really made it when you can reference yourself on the red carpet. To have an archive of iconic looks that are relevant enough to call on today is a status that few A-listers carry. And to do so three times, like Gwyneth Paltrow just did? That's the stamp of a true icon. Last night at the premiere of The Brothers Sun in Los Angeles, the Goop founder dressed in a monochromatic red look by Cong Tri that called back to her cherry red 1996 VMAs suit—which she also referenced in 2021. The takeaway? Paltrow's red top and maxi skirt confirm the red color trend that dominated 2023 isn’t going away anytime soon.

For her first red carpet debut of 2024, the multi-hyphenate beamed in all-red while supporting her husband Brad Falchuk’s new movie, The Brothers Sun. She wore a red long-sleeve top with a plunging scoop neckline and paired it with a matching red wool maxi skirt from Cong Tri’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection. For accessories, she added a matching skinny belt that blended into her skirt, and the cherry on top of her look (quite literally) was her dark red Paris Texas pointed-toe heels. She wore her long blonde hair down and added gold dangling earrings. For makeup, Paltrow wore a nude eye and natural lip for a no-makeup makeup illusion.

Her ensemble felt like a subtle homage to her now-famous 1996 VMAs look of a velvet two-piece suit from Tom Ford for Gucci’s Fall/Winter 1996 collection. During his tenure, Ford famously re-invigorated Gucci with his sultry womenswear designs that featured copious eye-catching cut-outs and horse-bit hardware.

In 2021, Paltrow referenced her iconic red suit at Gucci’s 100th Anniversary show in Los Angeles while wearing a near-perfect replica crafted by Gucci's former creative director, Alessandro Michele. Paltrow’s Cong Tri ensemble isn’t a direct callback, but it does remind us of her affinity for statement shade. Although Paltrow typically doesn't stray from a neutral palette and minimalist silhouettes (she was a dominant force driving last year's quiet luxury movement), it's safe to assume that cherry red is one of the actress' all-time favorite shades.

If you loved the cherry red color trend of 2023, don’t fret—its popularity is sure to continue. And perhaps even adopt more subtle forms: darker hues of red—like maroon or merlot—are easier to style in a minimalist color palette, similar to navy or forest green. Gwyneth Paltrow has given the internet an early Christmas present: an adorable dispatch from her family trip to Mexico.

The Goop founder posted a photo carousel on Instagram on Saturday with photos from the trip. In the first slide, she and daughter Apple Martin pose on the beach together at sunset. Paltrow is seen in a white bikini top and shorts, while Martin wears a black maxi dress.

In another photo, Martin and her brother Moses are seen posing together on a boat.

It's not news anymore that Martin is the spitting image of her famous mom. But it's the boat photo that may remind Paltrow fans of something else.

The siblings both appear to be gazing out at the water. Martin, in an open, white button-down over her bathing suit with a pair of black sunglasses, looks a lot like her mom did, while also on a boat, in her role as Marge Duval in the 1999 film The Talented Mr. Ripley.

As one commenter wrote, "Slide 2 is just so The Royal Tenenbaums meets The Talented Mister Ripley,"

Others pointed out her striking resemblance to Paltrow's mother, Blythe Danner. Their multi-generational similarities were out on display earlier this month when Paltrow, Martin and Danner attended a dinner for Goop and Gucci together.

This photo of Martin isn't the only recent callback to Paltrow's iconic roles, either. On Instagram, she recently (briefly) reprised her role as Margot Tenenbaum for a video promoting Goop's gift guide.

Last night, celebrities galore gathered in L.A. to celebrate the wonders of Goop and G.Label—oh, and the holidays, of course!

Gwyneth Paltrow hosted an unforgettable evening for her wellness brand. The stylish actress set the tone in a G.Label by Goop ensemble, which consisted of a black knitted sweater and a long skirt with a slit. Some pearl necklaces added a final chic touch to the look.

Others in attendance were dressed similarly, which makes one very curious about the specific dress code on the invites (mine must have gotten lost in the mail).

Actress and model Laura Harrier opted for a blue top and long black velvet skirt, cinched off with a belt, with a stunning finishing touch of impeccable cat-eye eyeliner.

Other guests included Chelsea Handler, Jennifer Meyer, and Kelly Sawyer. The latter was in a long black dress with bow detailing that almost intentionally matched Paltrow's outfit.

Aside from the gorgeous outfits, it was a night of delicious food, drinks, and a speech by Paltrow herself.

Unfortunately, we haven't seen any photos of Paltrow's daughter, Apple Martin, in attendance, although we have no doubt that she would have rocked the all-black look!

Gwyneth Paltrow was in a can’t-miss-it shade of yellow while attending the 2023 Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where she wore the vibrant hue to the festival’s closing ceremony. The sarong gown—from Carolina Herrera’s Resort 2024 collection—“included shirred puff sleeves, which had a ruching effect that gathered at the oversized belted bow at her waist,” People reports. “The dress featured a modest boat neckline and a thigh-high slit at the center of the dress.”

She accessorized the look with a pair of yellow opened-toe platform heels and a pair of diamond and gold drop earrings.

During a discussion at the festival, Paltrow shared with “In Conversation” moderator Jomana Al-Rashid that her mother, Blythe Danner, played an integral role in how she perceived acting early on: “My mother is an actress,” Paltrow said, per Variety. “She did mostly theater. And so I grew up as a little girl watching her rehearse plays and running around the theater. My mother would even say she always felt a bit insecure. When she was onstage, she was the most powerful, integrated force of nature that I have ever seen. And so I wanted to be that.”

Paltrow was joined by several more luminaries at the Red Sea International Film Festival, including Halle Berry, Naomi Campbell, Sofia Vergara, and Michelle Williams. Paltrow’s appearance followed her standout Valentino moment earlier in the week at the 2023 Fashion Awards in London.

Gwyneth Paltrow was joined by her mother, Blythe Danner, and her daughter, Apple Martin, at an intimate dinner for goop and Gucci.

The event was hosted by herself and Elizabeth Saltzman at Paltrow's house in the Hamptons. It aimed to celebrate Gucci's Summer Stories collection, as well as goop's newest skincare product, the Youth-Boost Peptide Serum.

Martin was once again the spitting image of her mother, but also has obvious features she inherited from her father, Coldplay's Chris Martin. Apple is one of two children between the former couple, and is 19 years old.

Her attire confirms that she is also as stylish as Paltrow, although prone to bolder outfits. Martin is wearing a sleeveless blazer dress, something that didn't seem possible until seeing it. She combines this with a slicked-back ponytail and black heels in a very '90s-inspired outfit.

In contrast, Paltrow was true to the theme with a red, white, and blue Gucci coordinated set, which she paired with summery white wedges. Her loose blonde waves are similar to her mother's, especially when posing beside one another.

Danner is wearing a long white buttoned dress with matching sandals and a silk scarf. Like her daughter, Danner is an accomplished actress herself and has starred in numerous films; her latest, Happiness for Beginners, was released earlier this year,

Gwyneth Paltrow chose vintage for the 2023 Fashion Awards at London’s Royal Albert Hall last night—vintage Valentino, specifically. The all-red gown—strapless, with an empire waist—and dramatic cape were from the designer’s autumn/winter 1965 couture collection, British Vogue reports.

The dress featured a neckline with a plunging middle section and a thigh high slit, and Paltrow accessorized with the long, dramatic Valentino cape and a pair of matching stiletto heels, People reports. On Instagram, Paltrow took a shot specifically of her bracelet from Van Cleef & Arpels, and also posted a black-and-white selfie with Valentino co-founder Giancarlo Giammetti.

Further snaps from the night included a photo of her standing on the red carpet, which she captioned “Brad BTS,” seemingly insinuating that her husband, Brad Falchuk, took the photo. She also praised Sam Smith’s performance that evening—calling it “Incredible”—and reposted an Instagram video of herself and Kate Moss posing together on the red carpet, of which she said “We’ve stiiiiiiill got it @katemossagency.”

Continuing to document the memorable night, Paltrow reposted from artist Stephanie Simon, who wrote “@gwynethpaltrow takes off her shoes mid-party and that also makes me very happy.” Paltrow also shared a shot of herself enjoying a glass of red wine while relaxing in a white robe, as one does before—or after—a successful event.

The Fashion Awards have long been marked by the boldest and most fabulous of looks, and this year did not disappoint.

The first iteration of the awards was held in London back in 1989, when Princess Diana opened the first awards in a white pearl-embellished gown and Elvis Presley-inspired collar. From then to Maya Jama's laced white Dolce & Gabbana gown at this year's awards, the event is annually one to watch.

There were many winners at the event last night, including Valentino Garavani, who won the Outstanding Achievement Award. Gwyneth Paltrow came all the way to London just to give this award.

Sam Smith accepted the Cultural Innovator Award from Lena Dunham, and also performed at the event. In their speech, Smith touched upon the struggles they've faced as a nonbinary artist and said, "There is no clothing in the world that fits quite as good as freedom."

Charlotte Tilbury won the Special Recognition Award, given to her by Amal Clooney. Tilbury's Pillow Talk lipstick is a perennial favorite, so we're definitely not surprised!

Gwyneth Paltrow and Dakota Johnson—connected not just as fellow actresses but also as the ex-wife and longtime girlfriend of Coldplay’s Chris Martin, respectively—are modeling a new way of how to blend a family.

Paltrow posted a photo of herself and Johnson holding hands on Instagram yesterday, both women in casual denim, sneakers, hats, and jackets. Paltrow was responding to an Instagram Q&A, where she was asked to post a photo with Johnson, who has dated Martin since 2017. Paltrow shared a photo of them holding hands while out on a seemingly chilly walk together, smiling while standing in the middle of a road.

While it’s not specified when the photo was taken, Johnson celebrated Thanksgiving alongside Martin, Paltrow, and the two children they share, Apple and Moses, in the Hamptons, Page Six reports. 

Though Martin and Johnson are a fiercely private couple, Paltrow occasionally shares some glimpses into her bond with Johnson, who she spoke of last month: “We’re actually very good friends,” Paltrow said. “I love her so much. She’s an adorable, wonderful person.” For Johnson’s birthday in 2019, Paltrow called her an “absolute gem.”

In addition to traveling together as a combined family unit, the two women were seen hanging out at a Gucci fashion show in 2021.

Martin and Paltrow’s divorce was finalized in 2016, the year before he began dating Johnson; Paltrow has remarried for a second time, tying the knot with Brad Falchuk in 2018. While Paltrow admitted that co-parenting with Martin wasn’t always easy, he is like a “brother” to her now, she said in 2020. “It’s like you’re ending a marriage but you’re still in a family,” she said on The Drew Barrymore Show. “That’s how it will be forever. We also have good days and bad days, but I think it’s driving towards the same purpose of unity and love and what’s best for [our kids]. We have this idea that just because we break up, we can’t love the things about the person anymore that we loved and that’s not true.” 

After they infamously “consciously uncoupled,” Paltrow said “Chris and I committed to putting them first and that’s harder than it looks because some days you really don’t want to be with the person that you are getting divorced from. But if you’re committed to having family dinner, then you do it. And you take a deep breath, and you look the person in the eye, and you remember your pact and you smile, and you hug…and recommit to this new relationship that you are trying to foster.”

Do you think Gwyneth Paltrow is gooped to see her daughter recreating her own iconic fashion moments? Probably not, but only because we doubt she understands what that slang currently means to people. If she did, though, she would be. Because we're having deja vu right now looking at her child Apple Martin, who has basically become a tiny version of the elder actor-turned-GOOP-CEO. It must be wild to see your child turn into a tiny version of yourself, especially when there are so many images on the internet with which to compare them.

At least, that was our first instinct seeing the latest photos of Apple Martin out and about, running around like Gwyneth Paltrow circa 1998-2004, right down to the damn newsboy cap atop her head.

Just look at Apple, photographed above, a few days ago. Not to sound like a true elder millennial, but girlie is straight-up cosplaying as her mother during, arguably, Gwyneth's most influential era. And given the inherent nostalgia that plagues any person who was a teen during that time, it simultaneously horrifies and delights us. Are we really that old? (Yes, we are.)

But also we're sort of living for it all: The ankle-length denim, the visible white socks, and all-black everything else? The blonde hair? Those SUNGLASSES? Is there a young Ben Affleck or Brad Pitt running around somewhere? Are you sure they aren't hiding in some bushes over there? Trying to escape the paparazzi in front of The Ivy?

Because...

I'm sorry, but this is very much giving that "they're the same picture!" meme of Pam from The Office.

In the above photo from 2003, Paltrow is seen wearing a similar style: newsboy cap and black overcoat with a t-shirt. She wasn't wearing jeans at the time—the photos were taken at the opening of a Stella McCartney store and required a full-on fancy pant—but you cannot tell us she didn't also have a pair of pants identical to Apple's that would have looked fabulous with this fit. So just trust us and imagine it.

Anyone else sorta dying to see Apple take on a few more of her mother's iconic looks? That pink Oscars dress could be a moment, just sayin', girl.

Gwyneth Paltrow has never been one to shy away from sharing how she feels, and she is opening up about the “nepo baby” criticism, leveled at those who allegedly benefit from nepotism, specifically within the entertainment industry. (Paltrow’s two children Apple and Moses, for example, could be considered “nepo babies”; Paltrow herself could be as well, as her parents, Blythe Danner and Bruce Paltrow, are both successful in show business—Danner is an actress and Paltrow was a director.)

The “nepo baby” debate kicked into high gear last year when New York Magazine released an article about the large number of celebrities that have parents, siblings, or other relatives in Hollywood, pointing out that it seemingly makes it easier for them to have access to opportunities. 

“Now there’s this whole nepo baby culture, and there’s this judgment that exists around kids of famous people,” Paltrow said in an interview with The Guardian. “But there’s nothing wrong with doing or wanting to do what your parents do.”

On her daughter, Apple, Paltrow said that she “just wants to be a kid and be at school and learn,” adding “Nobody rips on a kid who’s like ‘I want to be a doctor like my dad and granddad.’”

Paltrow said she’s trying to protect Apple and her son, Moses, from being branded with the dreaded label. (Paltrow shares both Apple and Moses with ex Chris Martin, the frontman of Coldplay.) “The truth is, if you grow up in a house with a lot of artists and people making art and music, that’s what you know, the same way that if you grow up in a house with law, the discussions around the table are about the nuances of whatever particular law the parents practice,” she said. “I think it’s kind of an ugly moniker. I just hope that my children always feel free to pursue exactly what they want to do, irrespective of what anybody’s going to think or say.”

Launching on October 22, the brand is divided into two, very goop-y categories: beauty and wellness. The 10-piece beauty collection includes your classic six skincare products—a cleanser, exfoliating scrub, toner, face serum, moisturizer, and eye serum—as well as three body care products and a detoxing, shampooing scalp scrub. On the wellness side, good.clean.goop will offer four supplement chews to tackle your immune system, brain function, pleasure, and skin, each priced at $29.99 for a 30-day supply.

Every product in the line utilizes the brand’s new “Good 3” formulation strategy. In other words, you'll find cleanical (that’s clean ingredients with clinical performance) ingredients, botanical (plant-derived actives) ingredients, and superfood (food-derived) ingredients. In a recent interview, Paltrow said that the line falls under the category of “masstige”—a mix of mass and prestige.

As for the Oscar-winner’s favorite product? She’s set on the green-juice inspired Daily Juice Cleanser ($19.99), because of course she is. "It's green and it smells really good and fresh and it's foamy," she said. "I've been using it every day."
