Then, by the time my white-and-red sneakers arrived, Olivia Rodrigo styled cobalt blue Tokyos beneath the cigarette jeans trend and a white tank top.

Giving up her gumsole treads for blink-and-you'll-miss-them bottoms was huge for the longtime Adidas Samba supporter. Naturally, I was convinced to try a pair, too.

Hailey Bieber has been a Miu Miu girl for years. So, when Miuccia Prada presented her sneakerinas in April 2025, Bieber was first in line. She walked away with the Plume Suede Sneakers in navy blue, featuring branded gumsoles and stark white shoelaces.

The Rhode founder even went a little method the last two times she wore them. For each outfit, she took ballet sneakers for a spin alongside oversize outerwear and biker shorts fresh from a dancer's post-rehearsal duffle.

My fellow dancers can't deny the French-girl charm that ballet sneakers emit. It seems that's exactly what won Billie Eilish over in late April 2026. She chose Celine's $900 Flat Sneaker, complete with black grosgrain sidewalls, and ivory-trimmed, leather toe boxes. If I lived in Paris, I'd be running errands, taking adult dance classes, and grabbing dinner in these beauties.

Hailey Bieber and I rarely disagree on anything fashion-related. But I had to draw the line when she said butter yellow was "played out" last summer. I style the not-quite-lemon, not-quite-sunshine color trend so much, it's my new favorite neutral. Thankfully, Selena Gomez shares my pro-butter yellow stance—even a year after its rise to It-shade status.

Gomez could've styled gray sweatpants after a long day of filming Only Murders In the Building Season 6 in London. Instead, she made a statement in a butter yellow pair, which featured matching drawstrings and ultra-wide legs. Wearing full-coverage, fleece-lined bottoms this time of year always runs a risk of overheating. Don't ever say that Hailey Bieber isn't a woman of many talents. As if it wasn't already impressive enough that she's managed to found a beauty brand that's beloved by Gen Z and worth a billion dollars (hi, Rhode!), she's apparently also a nail tech in the making.

On Sunday, Bieber shared a carousel of photos that she took during a recent trip to South Korea. As the unofficial queen of dreamy vacation manicures, she obviously couldn't book another getaway without painting the equivalent of a work of art on her nails. If there's anything I've learned about Bieber, it's that she's never going to wear a boring manicure while on vacation. Last year she traveled to Japan and wore a leopard French manicure that completely changed my mind about animal print nail designs, and in the previous month, she hit the beach for Kendall Jenner's 30th birthday celebration wearing a Mediterranean-inspired seafood manicure.

Justin Bieber treated the mother-of-one to dinner at Nobu in Malibu, California. The (unofficial) dress code? Casual, cool-mom-core, embodied by her black, knee-length capris. They hugged her legs as tightly as Bella Hadid and Rosalía's most recent renditions. To finish, Bieber's nude long-sleeve shirt matched the "I just threw this on" energy of her cropped bottoms.

Last summer, Bieber rarely wore capri pants with anything other than Toteme's flip-flops. Her beloved, one-inch-high kitten heels enhanced the effortless look of polka-dot pants, trousers, or even legging capris like these. Myself and fellow Beliebers knew she'd reclaim her metaphorical crown at the 2026 Met Gala, but still, her Saint Laurent red carpet look proved she's in no way predictable.

Once Saint Laurent was named the Gala's main fashion sponsor last November, my gut told me Bieber would reunite with creative director Anthony Vaccarello for their fourth Met together. I gave myself a pat on the back minutes ago, when she graced the 2026 Met Gala staircase in custom Saint Laurent. Stylist Andrew Mukamal—the same creative behind her gowns at the 2026 Grammys and TIME100 Gala—dressed Bieber in cobalt-blue chiffon, which bookended a metallic gold breastplate.

The 2026 color trend marks her brightest and boldest Met Gala look, an appropriate move for a dress code this boundless. The shawl decorated her décolletage and transformed into a carpet-grazing train.

That said, her matching column skirt didn't need extra fabric. It seems Mukamal saw the Tom Ford breastplate in Vogue's round up of "Costume Art"-appropriate picks, and reimagined it. Speaking to Vogue's livestream hosts, Bieber said the armor was sculpted "exactly" to her figure.

Technically, Saint Laurent has been by Bieber's side since her first Met Gala in 2015. Her floral mini dress was a Topshop find, but she chose metallic silver platform sandals from her favorite French label.

By her sixth ascent up those iconic stairs in 2021, Vacarello dressed Bieber in (almost) head-to-toe Saint Laurent. For the Devil Wear’s Prada 2 premiere, it only made sense to reference one its most famous iconic lines. Celebrity nail artist Julie Kandalec was inspired by that and the floral gem manis that have taken over social feeds. “I think they’re so pretty, but for the premiere, we decided on a clear crystal center, with pearls as the flower petals instead of gems,” Kandalec tells Marie Claire. “The pearls lent a more elevated look, perfect for the red carpet.”

She goes on to say that the red base matches Blunt’s red lips (done by celebrity makeup artist Jenn Streicher) and the pearl decals match Blunt’s Mikimoto pearl accessories. So sure, Miranda Priestly may have scoffed at the idea of florals for spring, but that was 20 years ago. “Now, it’s not groundbreaking," says Kandalec. "It’s perfect.”

Selena Gomez’s Pastel Rainbow

According to celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik, Selena had one request for her spring mani: choose colors that made her feel happy. And this mix of bright pastel blue, purple, magenta, and green shades do just that. “That was a pretty simple look,” Bachik tells Marie Claire. “So we went with fun, bright, energetic shades that were one-off from the expected.”

Angel Nails

Priscilla Delgado’s Angel in this season of Euphoria is a great addition. No spoiler territory here, so I’m just going to marvel at this fun baby French manicure. Created by celebrity nail artist Caroline Cotten, these nails are feminine and powerful to align with Delgado’s character.

“[Angel] has this mix of fierce confidence and emotional sensitivity that inspired us to design a nail that also had a mix of both attitude and softness,” Cotten tells Marie Claire. “Writing her name Angel on the nails scream, ‘I’m confident and no one can f— with me.”

Playing on the angelic theme, she uses a combo of baby blue and angel whites, writing “Angel” in cursive across the tips for a nice added touch.

Madonna’s Pink Disco

Still recovering from Madonna and Sabrina’s special Coachella performance? Same. To hold everyone over until Madonna’s new album “Confessions on a Dancefloor: Part II” drops in July, enjoy this metallic pink mani. Created by celebrity nail artist Naomi Yasuda, this nail look definitely makes me want to party. “I wanted to use something reflective so it catches the light,” Yasuda tells Marie Claire. “I used hot pink cat eye gel as a base and added a pink chrome tip with pink sequins.”

Addison Rae’s Cherry Red

Yes, Coachella is over. But I can still be in that state of mind. I love Addison Rae’s bright cherry red nails. Celebrity nail artist Kim Truong uses a glossy red shade on medium-length, rounded nails, perfect for the pop girlies.

Blooming Contrast

I love the Japanese blooming nail trend; it has such a cool tie-dye look to it that really elevates a mani. Celebrity nail artist Queenie Nguyen mixes creamy butter yellow and warm tones of chocolate for a nail look that just makes me feel happy.

Some fashion fans might see the Calvin Klein tags on Hailey Bieber's Time100 Gala gown and assume she's paying homage to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. 1990s Calvin Klein was as known for its campaigns starring the likes of Kate Moss as the women behind the scenes: namely, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and Kelly Klein. But CBK, whose name is shorthand for an exacting form of minimalism, probably would have steered a VIP client toward Bieber's metallic florals instead of wearing them herself. She preferred a more constrained, black-and-white palette, as well as less revealing silhouettes. And while she made the press office at Calvin Klein run, her own rare red carpet appearances often included pieces from Yohji Yamamoto, Jean Paul Gaultier, or Versace.

If Hailey Bieber's Calvin Klein dress was making another reference, it was to the beauty mogul herself. With help from her longtime stylist, Dani Michelle, Bieber's vintage 1990s pulls often feature tight-hugging silhouettes and flirty touches of lace. Just last weekend at Coachella, she flipped the script on business founder dressing in a vintage Dior slip circa 1999 for a Rhode activation. She's also the proud owner of a sequin Bob Mackie dress (worn on the celebrity birthday party circuit) and a vintage Versace leather jacket (which she's even loaned to Kylie Jenner).

It's on the beauty and accessories front where Bieber and Bessette-Kennedy have more in common. Posing with honorees like Dakota Johnson and LISA, Bieber showed off a middle-parted blowout and nude nails—an understated look CBK often wore herself.

To finish, Bieber only added a Cartier watch and Briony Raymond diamond earrings alongside her engagement ring. That sort of accessory restraint is exactly what CBK would have done.

Everyone likes to give the first weekend of Coachella all of the credit for delivering major celebrity fashion and beauty moments, but I'd argue that weekend two is where the attendees tend to outdo themselves. Take Hailey Bieber, for example. She hit the desert for a second time this past weekend, and somehow, her manicure for the occasion was even more extravagant than the last.

Bieber attended the second weekend of the festival in support of her husband, Justin Bieber, who headlined again on Saturday night. To celebrate last week's festival (and the immersive party that her beauty brand, Rhode, threw beforehand in the desert), she wore a chic spring manicure featuring green and blue flowers painted with glow-in-the-dark nail polish on top of a dark base. It was only right that she change things up this time around with something even bolder. For weekend two, the beauty founder wore an eccentric French manicure with tips that weren't just colorful. Her manicurist, Zola Ganzorigt, created the look by painting the nails a nude color before adding large polka dots to the tips in various patterns and colors.

Bieber isn't the only celeb who showed up to Coachella wearing a new twist on the French manicure. Her bestie, Kylie Jenner, was also present for both weekends, and after wearing a colorful, bejeweled flower manicure for the first go round, she showed up again this week wearing a traditional French manicure with silver gems. Addison Rae also took the stage at both events; this weekend, the singer and TikTok star wore apple red nails, but for her first performance, she wore a super-thick, half moon French manicure.

Not everyone can say that they closed out the first weekend of Coachella by dancing to their husband's headlining set (even if the spouse in question spent a rather odd half hour on stage scrolling YouTube for old videos of himself), but then again, there is only one Hailey Bieber. The Rhode co-founder capped off her music festival weekend with a photo dump on Instagram, sharing behind-the-scenes footage from Indio, CA, including some snaps of her family, a few shots posing in a cute yellow and pink lace mini dress (with matching blush), and a video on slide five applying a dusky rose lip liner.

On Friday, April 10, Jenner's brand, 818 Tequila, hosted its annual 818 Outpost event at Coachella, where the model added an enviable new bag and bag charm to her ensemble.

Kylie Jenner will be cheering him on from the wings, surely alongside bestie Hailey Bieber—and she's already dressing the part.

On April 10, Jenner took a break from filming pro-Bieber TikToks to share her first Coachella 'fit of the year, except it wasn't what I expected at all. She posed with a golf cart covered in branding for SKYLRK, Bieber's streetwear label, dressed in an oversize muscle tank featuring the Grammy winner's face. Where does one track down such a top? I suspect it's a special order for inner-circle Beliebers ready for an Instagram-viral moment.

The rest of her desert-proof 'fit felt more on-brand for Jenner, especially flared leggings rolled up to capri heights. Her already-chaotic color story took an even more vibrant turn with cerulean-blue SKYLRK slides. Jenner's no Coachella newbie, having attended regularly since 2013, so she knows to finish off her festival look with a hat, also from the brand. (She went the bucket route this time.) On April 5, celebrity manicurist Zola Ganzorigt, shared a mini photo dump of some manicures she's done on a few of celebrity clients recently. The first two slides are photos of Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner, respectively, and they both appear to be wearing glazed donut designs on their nails, which is essentially just a look that features nude or flesh-toned nail polish underneath a layer of light chrome powder. The looks aren't totally identical, but they're very similar. Ganzorigt named Bieber's design "vanilla French glaze" since her nails appeared to be a little more elongated, and the chrome powder accentuates her naturally white tips. Meanwhile, Jenner's nails are a bit shorter, and while they also have a glazed nude design, they don't give the illusion of a French manicure the way Bieber's do.

Glazed donut nails are more neutral take on the chrome nail trend, which has fully taken off in recent years because of how surprisingly versatile it is. "The mirrored finish is striking yet incredibly adaptable—you can layer it over any base color to create endless variations, from soft and subtle pearl effects to bold, high-shine metallics," celebrity nail artist Erica De Los Santos previously told MC. "Like velvet nails, they’re timeless in the sense that they don’t feel tied to a single season or trend cycle."

The Heeled Flip-Flops Trend

For Bieber, straight-leg jeans and the heeled flip-flops trend go together like Rhode and clean-girls: They're a match made for your Pinterest board. Stacking a white T-shirt and a leather jacket on top made the jeans more '90s-inspired than say, a rising It-sneaker.

Bieber's second doll shoes were metallic silver to match her Dilara Findikoglu corset dress, but their defining open-toe straps were still front and center.

This year, Bieber's been so busy endorsing shoe trends like white sneakers, hiking sneakers, heeled flip-flops, and high-vamp heels, she hasn't had much time to re-wear her New Balance 530s. But they could return any day now.

The anti-slim shoes have been MIA since her June 2025 trip to New York City. Then, the Rhode founder styled the circa-1992 sneakers like Gerber: with leggings and a black designer bag. (Bieber's is the belted tote from her favorite flip-flop label, Toteme.) New Balance's 12 color combinations all but confirmed another A-lister would follow her lead someday. My college campus wasn't the only place where the white sneaker trend took hold. Most It-sneakers in mid-2010s street style were white from toe-to-heel, including Adidas Stan Smiths, Vans Old Skools, and Nike Air Force 1s, of course. Bieber, Sofia Richie Grainge, and Kendall Jenner led the Air Force 1 charge, usually in skinny jeans, cropped pants, or leggings. Meanwhile, Stan Smiths were the glue that held 2016's celebrity street style scene together. Everyone from Bieber and Taylor Swift to Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner adored Adidas's ability to make something so sleek so recognizable.

These days, it's rare for Bieber—let alone any sneakerhead—to style shoes that are just as colorless. Even her white sneakers from New Balance or Fila add dimension with metallic silver or black laces, soles, or heel tabs. Like me, Bieber left her all-white sneakers back in the 2020s. One of her last sightings came in February that year, when her somehow scuff-less pair popped just as much as her leather green trench coat.
