Although I work in the media sector, it’s rather rare that I get excited to meet a celebrity. All that nonchalance went out the window when I met Hilary Duff for the first time. Not only is she one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, but she looks incredible. And not in a flippant way. I mean, everything about her looks ridiculously good. Her hair, her nails, her teeth. In fact, I’m certain because that was exactly the vibe that Bath and Body Works was channeling when the brand decided to partner with her for its new Fruit Fusions line. “It felt like the perfect partnership because one: I want to look like that all the time,” Duff told me in a recent sit-down, cheekily pointing to the campaign she shot with the brand that was playing on a screen behind her. “But also Bath and Body Works is such a fun brand that many people, including myself, have grown up with.”

"I’m both a shower person and a bath person. So for the latter, I love using those little shower scent diffusers, and depending on how I want to feel, I switch up the scents. If I wanna be a bit more uplifted and happy, I go for an orange scent. If I want to relax, I’ll do lavender. I’m very scent-oriented. Fragrance can really have such a big effect on my mood."

"There are so many. I think pasties are inherently really unsexy, but I can’t live without them. We have to have our little secrets."

As a '90s baby, I naturally know every single Aly & AJ song and movie verbatim. And while I’m incredibly tempted to make some terrible puns leveraging one-liners from Cowbells, “Potential Breakup Song,” or “Do You Believe in Magic?” I am making the very mature decision to restrain myself. Because the sisters, who are currently on their Places to Run tour, are no longer Disney stars; they’re all grown up.

Aly has a new baby boy. AJ is gearing up for season four of White Lotus. And, they’re starring in Lumify’s new campaign. Aly: My mantras really shift because I'm a new mom. I'm usually getting yanked and pulled. My son wants to breastfeed. So every morning is different, but I get to wake up with him in bed next to me, and that’s so special. It always put me in a really happy mood, and he’s always super stoked when he wakes up, so it set my mind on the right path for a good day. Mantra-wise, though, AJ and I have been trying to manifest a bit more in our lives about the things we’ve dreamed about. I try to do that later in the day, whether it’s a writing session or when I’m rehearsing.

AJ: Not to be cliche or corny, but I try to just lead with positivity. I feel like having a positive outlook on life brings more positive opportunities your way. I also try to have the mindset of doing something ultra-creative every day, whether that's picking up the guitar, reading a great book, or, you know, even being out in nature and taking a beautiful hike.

Aly: I love a bath and I love a shower. I kind of switch it up. I have my tried-and-true products that smell great and just work. I’m a big fan of Kristen Ess—I love all of her hair products. Then there's a scrub that I love that my friend actually makes; her brand is called Dewyer. I'll probably do it once a week. I'm a big soap collector, so I just have a huge shelf in my bathroom that I'm still going through. But I probably have enough for another like five years.

AJ: So, I’m a product fiend, especially when it comes to skincare. And some of that I end up doing in the shower, like my cleanser and my scrub. I’m obsessed with Zo Skincare. I’m a huge fan of Dr. Obagi and his son and what they’ve done with the brand. It’s ridiculously good; like magic. When it comes to skin, you're just testing all these different products and not knowing which ones are going to land and which are going to work. But with Zo, I got three months, and it was like, oh, that was epic. For hair, I love Kristen Ess, Oribe, and Kevyn Murphy, too. Oo, I also love Dove’s Lavender Sensitive Skin Body Wash. I’m such a Dove girl; it’s the only soap that I use. For travel I also love Dr. Bronner’s. We really have a high-low thing going.

Aly: I actually think it is sexy, but many people would not think eye drops are sexy. Lumify eyedrops are the sexiest thing to me. The product just works, the marketing is really cool, and they’re cute. Purple is my favorite color, so when I see the purple cap, I’m like, "Cool, it’s Lumify time." As a performer who is under hot lights or on screen or stage for hours on end, they’re such a game-changer.

AJ: I feel like we got introduced to them because makeup artists were always using them on us. Then I remember going to my eye doctor, who I do like a yearly exam with, and she was saying that they’re the best brand to use because they’re FDA-approved and it actually works. I was literally never skeptical of the product. We’ve always thought they were magical.

Aly: It’s funny, but a lot of times I don’t actually wear fragrance. I have moments though. I still wear Le Labo Santal. I feel like it smells great on everyone.

AJ: I’ve been wearing the same perfume for a few years now. It’s the Hermès Un Jardin. It’s very citrus-forward. I love the fragrance of orange or tangerine. It’s my number one, I wear it every single day.

Aly: I mean, I love pinky-nudes. I like [OPI] Funny Bunny, [Essie] Ballet Slippers, anything in that category. It just works well with any outfit, any look. It works all year, day, and night. A lot of times I don't do nail polish on my nails just because of playing guitar and they get chipped so easily, but neutral is safer.

AJ: I’ve actually been really into the French tip. Ballet Slippers at the base, creamy white, and that feels the best.

Aly: I have naturally wavy hair. I'll kind of let it air dry and put little front clips in it, and I'll do my makeup first and let it kind of dry. Then I’ll hit it with a diffuser. I really like Kristen Ess’s Curl Up Gel and this great Sun Bum sea salt spray. I’ll put maybe a dozen curls in with my T3 just on the top and then flip my head. Klorade is probably the best dry shampoo that’s ever been created, too.I rarely wear my hair straight.

AJ: I’m the exact opposite. My hair is wavy, but it’s wavy in all the wrong places. It gets knotted; it’s just very unfortunate. For the most part, I almost always blow dry my hair with the Harry Josh blow dryer. It’s my favorite blow dryer by far, and it’s discontinued, so I don’t know what I’m going to do if this one ever breaks. I’ll use the T3 if I want to add some texture.

Aly: Oh, girl, I makeup wipe it. It’s probably infuriating to a lot of people. But I’ve been lucky. I don’t have bad skin, and I’ve just been able to use a face wipe, put on some moisturizer, and go to bed.

AJ: I never break the flow because I already have kind of acne-prone skin. For me, the Zo regimen has saved me, especially on the road. I have a lot of redness, and these products have been such a game-changer. So yeah, I do the full takedown.

Aly: I'm looking forward to more freckles. I’m looking forward to continuing to be at peace with my body and the things that are not completely perfect about it. I think as we get older, we start to fight against that idea of perfection. My body will be bringing so many memories with it, and I think there’s something so cool about that.

AJ: The first thing that comes to mind would probably be smile lines. I absolutely love people who have smile lines because they tell a story. Life is obviously not perfect, but we are living it every day, and it's beautiful that we get to see that with age. I already have them, but I’m so excited to embrace them more and more as I get older.

Aly: I think mine would be warming up like the bridge of the nose and putting a little blush there. I’ve been doing that for years, and it makes me look like I’m just a little sun-kissed.

AJ: I’ve been filling in my lower and upper waterline with black eyeliner. It can be so pretty where the base of the lash is. I’ve known about it forever, and that’s been my longest trick on stage. My favorite is Mineral Fusion, and Merit makes a great one as well.

As a very big Kanthony fan and an even bigger The Devil Wears Prada fan, sitting down with Simone Ashley—who plays Kate in Bridgerton and Amari, Miranda Priestly’s first assistant, in The Devil Wears Prada 2—meant I had the chance to rattle off a laundry list of questions. While I regret to inform you that I couldn’t get any spoilers out of the actress, I did manage to get a full breakdown of her shockingly pared-back beauty routine. Some callouts: she loves her exfoliating body mitts more than anything, swears water intake is the beauty hack, and is very into the cat eye nail trend.

We also had the chance to talk about her work with L’Oréal for their Stand Up Against Street Harassment Campaign, which is focused on raising awareness and equipping women with the tools to protect themselves. “We want to spread the message for women to feel more confident in themselves and to really own their self-worth and to shine. And unfortunately, street harassment doesn't encourage that, right? This campaign is helping spread a really important message and tools so that you know how to navigate a situation if you ever do come upon it,” Ashley exclusively tells Marie Claire.

With everything going on with my schedule right now, my mantra is, “Get up and don’t be late.” I also like to take a moment to connect with my friends. It’s really important to me to not just get all-consumed by work.

I'm definitely a shower person. I love using exfoliating gloves, especially if I’ve been filming all day or traveling. It just makes me feel like all the dead skin and any products on my body are washed off. I’d recommend using them twice a week. I love using a hair mask; L’Oréal Paris has some great ones, especially for curly hair.

I don't know if I look at any of my products and think they're sexy. Honestly getting a good sleep and drinking lots of water is what makes me feel the most confident, grounded, and like the best version of myself.

I usually play around with perfumes, but right now I'm wearing the Baccarat Rouge 540, which I’m loving.

When I'm not working, I try to wear minimal makeup just to give my skin a break. I like actually to see my real face, so I always think less is more. I try and stay really hydrated with a great serum and moisturizer. Makeup-wise, I’m always wearing my L’Oréal Paris Extensions Mascara, a bit of concealer, and a lip gloss.

I have curly hair, so I try to use products that are kind to my curls. If it's hot outside, you know, in New York, within five minutes, my hair will dry naturally. But if I'm in a rush my hair's really wet, I just use a diffuser.

I like to just wear a natural nail most of the time. If I'm going on a vacation with my girlfriends or my friends, I'll play with color. I love doing a bit of nail art, like a cat eye nail or a chrome nail. But, sometimes just having a chic, natural polished nail is the best way forward because it can go with anything.

I truly think less is more. When I’m in New York, there’s already a lot of congestion on my face, or I'm tired, and I've got loads of products on my face. I just like to give it a deep cleanse, maybe use a serum and a moisturizer, and then get good sleep. Once in a while, I like to do a full-on skin routine and put on a mask and steam my face and do all of that kind of stuff. But I truly believe, for me, just not touching my face too much and leaving it alone is the best thing to do.

Making more memories and spending more time with the people I love. I think time is the biggest gift, and I like to use it by just being with the people I really care about.

Getting ready used to be a part of beauty routines no one saw. Now? It’s the reason I’m up until the crack of dawn doomscrolling. Few creators have capitalized on that shift quite like Alix Earle—from her “get ready” and "get unready" with me videos before or after a long night out to the acne flare-ups she’s navigated for years. And at this particular moment, the spotlight on Earle is only getting brighter. Between the upcoming debut of her reality series and the just-announced launch of her skincare line, Reale Actives (on sale March 31), the TikTok star is arguably entering the most visible chapter of her career yet—at just 25, no less.

When we spoke roughly two months ahead of the brand’s debut, Earle told me the project had actually been in the works for nearly two years—and it started with one ingredient she refused to compromise on: mandelic acid. The exfoliator had become a staple in her own routine during her acne journey—an MVP ingredient at smoothing texture and helping keep breakouts in check, but gentler than many stronger chemical exfoliants that can irritate sensitive skin. “I found out that it was in the products that really work for my skin, without being super harsh,” she says. It was also important for Earle to keep Reale Actives in a reasonable price range ($28 to $39) so her younger audience could realistically buy and repurchase the line.

But product launches aside, what I really wanted to know was how Earle keeps her routine intact amid all the craziness and which beauty habits she actually relies on. Below, Earle shares the rituals that get her In The Mood: from the unsexy step she swears by to the surprisingly attainable fragrance she reaches for when she wants to feel her best.

I’m not sure if I have a line necessarily. I think it’s more about creating a morning routine for myself, which I feel like I didn’t have for a while. I actually saw a spiritual healer, and she told me I needed to lean a little more into my feminine energy. So I like to do a little bit of breath work and try to lead with my heart over my head—that’s what she suggested. Then I’ll make my coffee, do my skincare, put some eye patches on—just feeling good and getting myself ready for the day.

Sometimes I have to start with a bath, like a nice bath, and then go into the shower, maybe do a full-body scrub, play some music, and just enjoy the hot water.

I would say our Get Bare cleansing balm can be a little frightening at first because you’re really just mangling the makeup all around your face—especially with eyeliner and mascara. It can get a little scary, but afterwards, your skin feels really bare and good, ready to take on the next three steps of the routine. I feel like all cleansing balms are like that—it’s not the sexiest.

I’ve been loving the LORE “Somewhere but Nowhere” fragrance. It’s so good.

My go-to makeup look is bronzy, probably a winged liner, because it snatches my eyes. I’ve been really loving a thin brow recently, with more of a mauvy lip.

Sexy or not, I think I’m always just sticking to neutrals with my nails.

I do my whole skincare routine after a night out, which is why I think it’s important to not have one that’s so crazy and elaborate—something that’s doable and attainable. I was not always great at doing my whole skincare routine in the past.

Probably my waterproof mascara. I will not give it up.

I’m excited because everyone says your frontal lobe develops at 25. I really want to know by the end of 25 what happened to me—if it really developed and how I feel. I’m very curious about that.

I, along with pretty much every millennial, have spent the last week mourning the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot. Hulu announced on Friday March, 13, that they would not be moving forward with the proposed production. While I doubt I’ll ever get over it, I’m taking solace in the fact that I did get to sit down with Sarah Michelle Gellar last week—and learn that she still uses beauty tips and tricks she learned on the set of Buffy 29 years ago. (I don’t want to spoil it, so you’ll have to read ahead to find out.)

We also had the chance to chat about her morning routine, which involves so much coffee and the occasional in-shower electrolyte drink, her tattoos (she has seven), favorite skincare products (FYI, they’re very affordable), and the luxury fragrance brand that she and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. can’t get enough of. When I wake up, my only thought is coffee. Coffee, coffee, and more coffee. I go to bed thinking about what coffee I’m going to drink in the morning. Today I went to Blue Bottle and got a New Orleans with a splash of two percent milk. Yes, I drink actual millk. I only drink iced coffee, though—it doesn’t matter if it’s snowing in New York.

So we just moved, and I would say one of the top three favorite things in my house is my shower. It’s the size of a small studio apartment in New York. It has three shower heads and a spigot. I also put a little indentation in the wall, which is where all my products go, so you don’t see a mess. My husband didn’t even realize that I’d done that, and when he walked into the bathroom for the first time, he was like, "Where did all your stuff go?”

I obviously have my RŌZ shampoo and conditioner. It’s the best, and I was actually [founder] Mara [Roszak]’s very first client. But my favorite thing to keep in the shower is actually Olay’s Face Melts. I wear a lot of body makeup because I have to cover all my tattoos and stuff, but these make the best hack. It gets everything off.

Oh, you know what I love that’s really not sexy? My flossing machine. But you can’t put it on too high, or it shakes your whole body. Although I think the least sexy thing I did today was take a hydration packet in the shower and put it in my water. It was a choice.

Parfums de Marly Delina through and through. I also wear the hair perfume—it’s so, so pretty. I’ve gotten my whole family onto it, too. I’m also liking the new orange one they just came out with. Even my husband, who has never worn cologne in his entire life, now wears the men’s cologne. My son does, too.

Well, before makeup, I always start by putting on my creams. I use the Olay Regenerist Face and Neck Lifting Treatment. I roll it on my jaw and neck, and the roller never gets gunky. It’s a really great product. I also love the micro-sculpting cream because it leaves my face really hydrated. I don’t like heavy, heavy makeup, but I’ve been really into the Victoria Beckham foundation drops; I can still see skin when I use them.

I’m passable at doing my own hair—as long as you don’t look at the back of my head. I’m also very good at a ponytail. And a bun. I actually use fake front pieces from Bellami Hair. I like to wear my hair back so much, and I don’t have perfect front pieces naturally, so shout out to them.

I’m pretty open with my nails. Currently I have a French because I have 22 looks in 15 days. I was like, What nail goes with 22 different outfits? I normally go for something pretty simple. I’m a [Essie] Ballet Slippers girl.

Well, my routine isn’t complicated and I don’t use a ton of products to begin with. The first thing I do is cleanse. I believe cleansing is a two-step process—first, you have to get your makeup off, and then you have to get the grime of the city, the airplane, whatever it is, off. Then I use my Regenerist and my retinol (you have to use retinol). It’s so nice to have the tool and the product in one—especially when I’m traveling.

One of my favorites, David de Leon, who did my makeup for a hundred years—he did my makeup on Buffy—taught me that my face doesn’t stop at my face. It stops by my boobs. So anything that was going on my face also had to go on my chest. Also, if you have extra product, use it on your hands. It makes a big difference, and you really don’t need a separate hand cream.

The wisdom, right? I wouldn’t trade being 20 again for all the coffee in the world. I’m happy, I don’t want to be younger.

Something I love: that last year was a Leighton Meester renaissance. She was in The Buccaneers, I Love LA, and Nobody Wants This, the latter of which brought inexplicable joy to every ‘90s baby. She landed a beauty partnership with Bubble, had a stint as a redhead, and, if you’ve been on TikTok, had a “Good Girls Gone Bad” viral moment.

And now that we’re firmly in 2026, it’s clear that the actress is just gaining more momentum. She has a Netflix romcom based on “The Bodyguard" coming up (release date TBD) and, most recently, landed another beauty partnership, this time as the face of Elizabeth Arden’s Eternal Aura Eau de Parfum. “The brand is such a tried-and-true for me, and they’ve been a part of my consciousness, for, well, pretty much my entire life, so this really feels like a pinch-me moment,” Meester tells me over our Zoom call this weekend.

Fragrance aside, the Gossip Girl alum has many beauty secrets to share. My favorite of which: exfoliating her body like she’s “an alien coming to Earth for the first time” who needs to shed her “alien skin.” To learn how she does just that, and scoop up her other beauty tips for getting In the Mood, read ahead.

I used to listen to Louise Hay, who is a motivational speaker. The first thing that she says is I am worthy of love because I exist. That’s the core of all of my natural or learned insecurities and saying it means I can face the world because I am enough. At first, it felt really alien and embarrassing to say it, and I had to actually force myself to feel that way. But now I just say it naturally without having to reinforce it constantly and I do just believe it. It comes from within. I mean, love is our most core need, and to know that I am worthy of existing, and being loved, and loving myself—it matters.

My dream is to do an everything shower, but my reality is an efficient shower. However, I take pieces of the everything shower and infuse them into my efficient shower. I’ll do a deep conditioner one day, exfoliate another day—that way there’s not such a buildup for an everything shower. But I am actually a bath person. It isn’t that I go into my bath planning to spend hours there—although I can and I will. But I’ll do work from the bath (obviously not Zooms), I’ll read, and relax. If I can get a morning bath in? Wow, it’s kind of crazy, but it helps me just seize the day.

I love an exfoliating mitt. I love going to a spa day at Olympic Day Spa in LA, which is a Korean spa. It’s co-ed, but there’s a women’s only section. The first time I ever went I was like, what is this? They use these exfoliating mitts, and it's like if you were like an alien coming to Earth for the first time, and they're like, you need to shed your alien skin to be here. It’s amazing. I bought a version of them so I can use them at home before I shave or something, but I’m much gentler when I use them myself.

I like the idea of a signature scent. I’m in love with Elizabeth Arden’s Eternal Aura. I wear that regularly. I feel like it is a date-night scent because it gives you a sense of romance. It’s grounding, but still an uplifting, happy fragrance in my opinion. It’s not too heavy either, so I can wear it during the day.

I use tinted moisturizer, actually. I don’t think I ever use foundation or concealer. My skills have actually gotten worse over the years, which you would think I would have learned a thing or two. I curl my lashes and take my time with that. Then I like a brown liquid liner and something on my lips.

My hair has taken a lot of heat and color recently, so it’s pretty damaged. I went from brunette to red to blonde back to brunette just in the last eight months, so I’m really doing damage control. I’ve been doing oil treatments, avoiding heat, and letting it air dry whenever I can. Occasionally, I’ll use a diffuser, or I’ll put a curl in my front two pieces and grab a claw clip for the rest so it stays out of my face.

I love a cherry red. Any time I try to do anything different, unless it’s neutral, I regret it. I just love looking down and seeing red, short nails.

I might truncate my routine, but it’s so minimal anyway because I have to pack it all the time. I’m pretty consistent with it because I have to be. Taking off my makeup is number one for me.

As more time goes by, the more hindsight I have. There’s also a confidence that comes from getting to know myself more and more, from just experience in life.

Don’t overdo alcohol and use sunscreen. The sun that I got when I was young is now starting to show up.

In the midst of it all, she’s also pregnant with her third child, so her beauty routine has been integral to keeping her grounded.

“My favorite phrases to think about in the morning are: ‘I can do this. I can handle anything that comes my way. I am capable. I'm strong.’ It depends on the day, but I journal pretty much every day, and I always write something along those lines. It’s very grounding to know that I have strength and can handle whatever the day throws at me.”

“For me, in general, it's always going to be a boiling hot shower, which I think is not a good beauty tip because I think they say not to do that. Still, my bathroom has become my sanctuary since I’ve become a mom. A shower or bath gives me a moment to reset, and afterward, I slather the Vichy Mineral 89 serum all over my face because my skin is super dry.

As for what I use in the shower, I try to do some sort of exfoliation about two to three times per week, and I absolutely love the Rare Beauty one. Ambience-wise, I really love lighting candles, listening to music (Bad Bunny is my favorite right now), and just slowing down to really take time to cater to my body. You have to set your own mood and your own tone. And sometimes I forget because I'm rushing—I have kids. It's crazy. I'm like, I can make this a nice moment for myself. Let me just do that.”

I’m not sure if it’s hormones or something else, but the anti-dandruff line has been my favorite product from the brand for helping combat flakes. It’s not sexy at all, but my friends and family constantly ask me what actually works from the brand since I’ve signed with Vichy, and I cannot stop recommending it. It’s phenomenal."

“I was the face of Armani's Acqua di Gioia a long time ago, so I always have a massive stock of that, and I love it. I also really enjoy Armani’s My Way and Prada Paradoxe. Then, my husband goes absolutely feral for Mugler’s Alien, so that’s his favorite on me.”

“For me, it’s all about the eyes. When I want to go alluring, I usually do some sort of winged liner or some sort of smokey eye and really let that speak for itself. To say that the last year has been a whirlwind for Olivia Dean would be an understatement. The 26-year-old UK singer has spent the better part of a decade making music, but she soared to viral fame in 2025 with the release of her album, The Art of Loving, which included a few TikTok-beloved singles like "Man I Need," "A Couple Minutes," and "Nice to Each Other." Well, something I've been saying to myself for a while when I get ready in the morning is, "Every day can be a slay." And since I started doing that, every day I've felt amazing. I think sometimes you're like, "Oh, no. Today's a bit of a bummy day," but I think every day can be romantic and I like to really get myself ready for the day by keeping that in mind.

I think it's got to be deodorant. It's not the most fabulous product, no. But you need it. And without it, it's not a sexy day.

I don't love loads of makeup. I've always found that, for my face, less is more. And I really want people to just see my face if I'm trying to allure them. So maybe, in that case, I'd just wear some fab blush—I love blush at the moment. But apart from that, I'd probably keep it quite simple with just a natural look. No-makeup, makeup, really fluffy eyebrows, blush, and then a lip balm.

It really depends on how much time I have. If I don't have a lot of time, I love a slick back bun. I feel like that immediately just makes any outfit feel sexy. But I've recently discovered a [blow dry] brush and it's changed my life, so now I can do my own blowouts at home. That's my new favorite thing. I love a blowout! There's something so kind of '70s glam about it that I love. It's really important for me to keep the texture in my hair. I love my natural curls so much, but I think this in-between place where it's still kind of got that volume and texture but isn't falling dead straight makes me feel really beautiful.

I haven't got the time for that. I think if I'm tired or if it's been a long day, I'll just cleanse, use a serum, then moisturize—just a three-step routine. But if I've got a lot of time on the weekend, we can get into ten steps, really. We could get the gua sha out, we could start doing a bunch of other things, it just depends on the time.

I remember when I was quite young, my mom told me that my hair is my beauty, and my granny used to tell my mom that as well. But she would tell me to just look after it and treat it like a friend. So that means don't put too much damage on it, always use heat protectant, do masks, and just treat it like it's your friend and your beauty. I think hair holds a lot of power, so I really take a lot of care with mine. Wearing a bonnet, braiding it before bed, or brushing it out in the shower. I really love to wash my hair a lot. It's a ritual.

When I was first figuring out how to look after my hair, I would read online and it would be like, "You should only wash your hair once a week." And I was doing that for a while, but then I realized that I loved washing my hair and I was like, "I'm just going to wash it every other day because I love it."

It has to be Burberry Her Eau de Parfum. I think since I've had this fragrance—it's the perfect mix of bold, but fresh and flirty. It has a vanilla scent, but it's so fresh and I think it's the one for me. When I wear it, I usually go straight to the wrist, up the arm, and then dab a little bit behind my ears.

There aren’t many things I have in common with an international pop star, but a love of ease is something that Katseye’s lead singer, Sophia Laforteza, and I share. “With everything that I use, I focus a lot on convenience and how it can fit my lifestyle the best,” she tells me in our recent sit-down. “It’s really important to me as a performer and singer.” And it happens to be one of the reasons she partnered with Invisalign to perfect her camera-ready smile.

After I get out of the shower, I use the Vanilla EOS lotion and Palmer’s body oil to lock in all that moisture. I can't live without those two products. I apply them everywhere, even on my toes."

Bethenny Frankel “never knew about setting powder until 2021.” Now? She’s a beauty encyclopedia personified. Niche brands and full-blown product names roll off her tongue with incredible accuracy, and her takes on formulations—while often hot and a little scathing—are overwhelmingly accurate. She has tried thousands of products since she carved out a niche for product reviews on TikTok, consistently giving her no-nonsense, brutally honest take on luxury houses and drugstore brands alike. “Everybody gets a turn. It may take me six months, but it’s like Toy Story; one day, I’m going to play with you,” she tells me over Zoom.

Whether or not that product gets her stamp of approval is one thing—but if it has the chops to take up residence in her regular beauty routine? That’s akin to being crowned the Best Chicken Salad in the USA (if you know, you know). So, that’s exactly what we dove into: the skincare, makeup, and fragrances that Frankel keeps on standby to help her get In the Mood. From the product categories she predicts are going to be the next Big Thing (cough cough: lip care and butt care) to the niche fragrance brand she’s been loving for date night, here are Frankel’s current favorites.

Oh my god, no, I don’t have one. I wake up and tally up how much I did or did not sleep and then I look to see if it’s light outside—I always wake up too early—go kiss my daughter and kick her out of her room, and then I get myself to the beach and torture everyone that works for me with early calls so I can burn through my beach walk.

I’m a massive bather, so there will be a version of a bath every day. I swim in the ocean every day now, so I’ll shower just to rinse everything out of my hair. Normally, I’ll just rinse and not put product in it if it’s a random day where I don’t care. That’s most days. But if it’s a day where I’m going to go get a blow dry, I’ll do a hair moisture mask, get back in the shower, and maybe put a sheet mask on my face. Maybe two times a week I’ll do the full luxurious shower. Otherwise, it’s just clean and functional.

My tongue scraper is my least sexy product. If you’re not using a tongue scraper, you’re an animal, and it’s time to get with the program. That’s number one. Number two is when I do the Guru Nanda oil pulling. Oh, and you know what’s a really sexy product? The Tushy—that thing that you put on your toilet seat that’s like a bidet. That makes me feel hot and sexy; it’s water up your ass. I also think the brief underwear that I just bought on Instacart from Target. They are so not sexy, but they make me feel amazing because they’re breathable little boy shorts. And they were $8, I got five pairs, and I’m feeling like a f*cking winner. The bits are breathing, so I’m feeling super sexy. I have so many more. I have a high-frequency zapper for acne, or I have a little surgery kit for my pimples so I can lance them. It’s a great way to scar yourself, but it’s also super satisfying.

I have several. I don’t like smelling like anybody else, so I switch it up a lot. I like the new Charlotte Tilbury one. There’s a new brand that I just started using—Chris Collins sent me some stuff. I like the Ouai St. Barts. I like Parfums de Marley. Then, this person at an event in Miami gave me a bag of little perfume samples, and I kept them in my bathroom for easily six months. It ended up being this brand, Maison D'etto. They’re great.

Alright. I’ll sit down and probably use something like the Medicube Toning Pads or the MCo Wipes to keep my face clean. Right before you put makeup on your face, it needs to be clean. Even if you washed your face an hour ago, you can work with a dirty face. It’s like you’re literally about to paint, so you need a clean canvas. Then a hydrating serum—I like Glow Recipe because it’s light and I like a little bit of glow underneath my makeup. I would go for one of the L’Oréal Lumi Glotion and sometimes the Catrice Under Eye Brighter. I use different concealers depending on what’s in my drawer. Most of it works the same—it’s like pin the tail on the donkey for the most part. Tower28 has a good new one, actually. It’s nice, hydrating, and not too sparkly. I’ll use some of the Givenchy Libre Powder, the No. 7 bronzer—I made that viral—and then a liquid blush like Rodial’s, which is very glowy. If I want more of a punch up, I’ll go for L’Oréal’s liquid blush, which is amazing and completely slept on. I like the DIBS stick for a little highlighter. Then, there’s a new L’Oréal mascara that must be discussed—it’s called Extensionist, but it should be called Ridiculous. It’s unbelievable, and no one knows about it.

Usually it’s something neutral with a flare. Right now it’s a purple, but I can work with blues and pinks.

The main thing that I do at night—in addition to normal moisturizing—is tend to the lips. People think of the lips as an afterthought or an aesthetic thing that’s going to rub off in two minutes after you get to your date, but lip moisturization is as essential as skincare and scalp care. I keep my RoC Derm Correxion Lip Volumizer in my purse and in my skincare drawer because I use it like an overnight mask. It’s cooling and soothing on your lips, and I can actually massage it like an eye roller. Lip care is essential because most people do not have healthy-looking lips, and you want kissable-looking lips.

I’m really looking forward to the peace and comfort that come with having been through so much and being able to share it with others. No one ever really shared anything with me. I never had that type of a role model. So, even with the girls I work with, I can tell them what to do, how to live, and how to keep their purses organized. I know I’ve had a great impact on shaking up the way that everyone sees skincare, sleep, health, fashion, dating life, business—and I think that’s important. I think that’s why I was put on this earth. So as I get older, I'm sharing what I’ve learned more and more because I think it’s valuable. I made so many mistakes, and no one shared their tips with me. I love being able to pay it forward.

Exfoliate. Cleanse your skin. Use a mask. Exfoliate your body and moisturize it. It’s amazing how many people don’t do these basic things that are a part of my entire life.

If I can count on Grey’s Anatomy for anything, it’s making me cry like a baby. “That’s why we’re still on air,” Camilla Luddington, the actress who plays Jo Wilson (my current favorite character), exclusively tells me. She’s right. With the 450th episode of the medical drama airing two weeks ago, it’s the longest-running scripted show on ABC. I’ve personally dedicated close to 1,000 hours of my life to the lore (I’ve watched all episodes twice, and the musical special at least 20 times), and for reasons that defy logic, stayed locked in through dozens of devastating character deaths and untimely exits.

Despite only being three episodes into the 22nd season, it’s not looking like it's going to be rainbows and sunshine. Quite the contrary. “Get some wine because it’s going to be very traumatic,” Luddington warns. I’m team Protect Jo At All Costs (she’s my comfort character and deserves a little joy!!). But instead of spending my time with Luddington asking if Link (played by Chris Carmack) is headed for a tear-jerking demise or if her twin delivery gets hijacked by a wild sequence of unfortunate events, I decided to talk about something a little more lighthearted: her beauty routine. But it should, because Luddington (as I’ve now learned) is a wealth of beauty knowledge, tips, and tricks.

She’s in on all the fall makeup and nail trends (vampy manicures and brown eyeliner, coming right up), has a face-shaving, body-scrubbing ritual that makes her skin smooth as a baby’s, and is intent on finding her fragrance identity in her 40s. I don't have a mantra, but I want to put into words what I mentally remind myself every morning. It’s really this: I own my energy. I set the tone. I feel like, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that I really do set the tone for my day, even when shit hits the fan. The tone that I set in the morning really carries me through, so I try to be mindful of that.

I am not an in-and-out shower person unless I have a call time that’s at five a.m. and I have to be on set. But if I have a day where I can be flexible, I will take my time in that shower. One thing that I truly love and wish I could do every day is to hang fresh eucalyptus in the shower. You hang it on your shower head—those are my absolute favorite showers.

I have two, actually. There’s the Osea Body Scrub, which I keep in my shower and use it to scrub all my dead skin off. Not so sexy. But when I get that smooth feeling after stepping out of the shower? That feels sexy. Then—this is definitely not sexy at all—but I was introduced to those little exfoliating dermaplaning razors where you basically shave your whole face. I feel so much more glowy after doing that and adding some moisturizer. Again, not sexy. My husband will walk in on me and be like, You’re shaving your face again? But I feel way cuter after doing it.

For years and years and years, I wore Princess by Vera Wang. It was the scent of my 20s. I stopped wearing perfume forever, but this year I went out and was like, I need a perfume for my 40s. I got Tom Ford’s Cafe Rose and that is my go-to date night scent now.

It’s always going to be a brown eyeliner cat eye. I think it looks better on me than black. I’ve also learned to overline my lips over the course of the past six months, so I’ve been doing that with [Charlotte Tilbury] Pillow Talk Lipstick and Lip Liner. Oh, I also have been loving the Utan Freckle Pen. I’ve done a couple IPL [lasers] on my face and I’m kind of sad about losing some of the freckles that I had across my nose. I’ve been adding in a few fake freckles right at the end of my everyday routine. It’s a cute little find.

The truth is my hair routine is not necessarily easy breezy. I have the AirWrap, and it took me a while, but I finally learned how to do it. I don’t do it on wet hair because I think it’s really hard. But on dry, clean hair, it gives me this big ‘90s blowout. It’s very early-season Jo Wilson hair. Right now, I would not be allowed to have that hair. I’m under strict orders to look “undone” and very doctorly.

It changes with the season, but right now I’m into a vampy look. Chanel’s Rouge Noir is my favorite shade. It’s so good.

I'm absolutely not doing my whole skincare routine. I mean, I’m always proud of myself when I do it, and it makes me feel like I have my life together. But usually, I have not gotten my life together. I take off my makeup with the Bioderma H20 and that’s as far as it goes. I’m too tired. I need to get into bed.

There’s a more sentimental answer, but here’s my beauty answer. I’ve really enjoyed each decade and finding my style because it really has changed. When I look at my style icons, it’s women in their forties and fifties. I love Anne Hathaway. I think Jennifer Fisher is so chic. I love Gwyneth and that Nantucket look right now. It’s like, I might own a boat, I might not. I’m excited to see what that looks like for me and how I feel in my body. I think, weirdly enough, as I get older, I start to feel better about myself.

This is a really European thing, but it’s my honest answer. When I was younger, if we were out on vacation and any of us got a mild sunburn—like you’re not near blistering, but you’re red—you get smothered in Nivea. One of my kids is a redhead and so she easily gets a little red. I smother her in Nivea at night, and by the morning she has no sunburn at all. I’m not sure it’s really made for that, but that’s been my hack since I was kid. Although I use it at night anyway as a really thick moisturizer.

I never go in depth about the words that I use to address how I feel about my feminine power. You’re probably going to laugh, but I always say, You’re that girl. I like to use words of affirmation to lift me up. You're beautiful, you have this, you are the only person that will be you. No one can tell you otherwise. I try to lift myself up before I even start with my other daily routine or meditation.

My boyfriend likes to say that I take a Hollywood shower. It’s his way of saying you take two hours in a shower. To be fair, I totally do. I let it steam first. I put all of the amenities that I need inside. There’s obviously an amazing shampoo and body wash. I like fragrance diffusers and bath bombs, too. Then I wait 20 minutes for it to steam up and smell really good before I even get inside. I’m very committed.

My tongue scraper. It’s not the cutest thing ever, but it gets the job done. I have one where I can slip my little fingers on each side and there’s ridges on both sides. You can damage your tongue if you go too hard. I’ve made my tongue pink a couple of times because I’ll go overboard. But it does the job. Like, it really does the job.

I’m loving the new Charlotte Tilbury Star Fragrance. I go through it like it’s nobody’s business. It’s a confidence in a bottle. It’s warm, floral, and makes me feel limitless and empowered. It’s good for a date night. It gives me more powerful energy. Honestly, it’s everything I want in a bottle.

There are usually two looks that I can accomplish. I can do a glam look or a light beat. It'll be a little foundation with some contour—just a tidbit—then some concealer and a liner with lash and a gloss. That lash is everything to me.

I love a long shag with a bang. I've been getting into this like hot, sexy, kind of like messy, but still curated vibe a bit. That's what makes me feel really, really sexy.

If I’m having a fun night, I’m most likely doing a nudie pink that matches my nail beds. But if I'm really, really feeling like a mermaid, I'll do just a straight-up nude that looks like the nail is just bleeding out of my hand. If it’s not that, it’s a plum purple or an orange. We have a lot of range.

I'm never hopping straight in my bed. It's so important to always make sure that you do a skincare routine after a long night. Everything happens while you're sleeping. So even after a long night, I try never to skip my skincare routine. You can't have a beautiful painting without a beautiful canvas.

I'm just naturally a person who does the most when it comes to my skin. I always remove my makeup from my face, and I never skip applying Magic Serum and Magic Cream. Those are my go-tos. I feel like even after the longest night, my skin still feels smoother and plumper when I use those two products.

I'm looking forward to how my beauty will change. I can’t wait to see what I look like when I reach my forties and fifties. I'm not rushing it at all, but I am excited to see my maturity. Age is a beautiful thing. I'm looking forward to how confident I will be in every single part of every single stage of my life.

I could say wash your face at night, but everyone already knows that. I’m going to switch it up and say that it’s really important to wash your face in the morning when you know you’re going to have a full face of makeup on. Put on your primer on and make sure to lock that in with a powder. People don’t realize how much a foundation will fade if you don't have a powder. You have to lock it in. Even a blush; if you're using a cream blush, you have to sometimes lock that in with a blush powder. It elevates and also completes the look.

Dame Helen Mirren isn't a model in the traditional sense, but that doesn't mean she's a stranger to the runway. The acclaimed British actor just wrapped up a stint in Paris, where she attended Paris Fashion Week and strutted the catwalk at the annual L'Oréal Paris Le Défilé event which celebrates women empowerment. The Sept. 29 show marked Mirren's fourth time gracing the runway since becoming an ambassador for the brand over a decade ago, but even now, participating still feels like a "pinch-me" moment.

"It's just one of the dreamiest things ever," she tells me in a video interview. "The whole thing is so mad and out there and unlike anything else I've ever done or I ever do. It's wonderfully exciting and nerve wracking as well." Mirren appeared at the Le Défilé show alongside other L'Oréal ambassadors like Viola Davis, Andie MacDowell, and Eva Longoria, all of whom she's formed a special bond with thanks to their repeated inclusion in the event over the years.

"Because it's L'Oréal Paris, you often are with some of the same people, so you become a little sort of sisterhood of the people who walk—models and actresses and influencers and things like that," she says.

Don't worry, it'll all be alright in the end. I'm not a sort of grumpy morning person—I'm usually positive and happy to see a new day. But the day can grind you down, so a little bit of yoga is a good thing. I like to do about 15 minutes of yoga every morning and that certainly calm just settles you and centers you to start the day off.

I don't know if alluring is what I'm going for—I just like to look halfway decent. I never stick to a routine of any sort. I have no beauty routine, except I do always clean my face at night. I'll always put a moisturizer on at night, usually the L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Triple Power Anti-Aging Face Moisturizer. And then, in the morning, I'll always clean my face again and put a moisturizer on. It can be different things. On some days I use a serum and other days I'll use a cream. I like to mix it up a bit. And likewise with makeup, I always do something a little bit different. I don't do the same thing over and over again, but I can do my makeup in about eight minutes, if that.

Hair's weird because it responds so much to what's going on on the inside of your body. Some days your hair just does nothing wrong, and other days your hair just will not do anything. These days I kind of like having a cut that I just really don't even have to dry—it can just dry on its own. My hair is very fine, so I try not to put too much heat on it. I just let it dry naturally. But again, it's different for different days. Some days you just want to pull it back with scrunchie. And headbands are a good thing—I love headbands!

Technology. I think I'm lucky in the sense that I experienced the world without technology in a profound way. The first 30 years of my life, if not more, was without technology. No mobile phones, no computers—none of that stuff. So I've actually witnessed and experienced the coming of this incredible change in human behavior and human knowledge and now being on the cusp of AI and where that might take us. I just find it so frightening, but at the same time it's very exciting. I love that every day there's a new extraordinary technological thing to be amazed by.

You need good underwear. Find bras and pants that really, really fit you, and then you can do what you want with your shape.

It’s a fact: Jennifer Aniston has great hair. She also has a really great haircare line called LolaVie. And it’s not just one of my top three favorite celebrity beauty brands (right next to Haus Labs and Victoria Beckham Beauty), but one of my favorite hair brands of all time. The Glossing Detangler is a staple in my shower, the just-launched Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner are perfect for fine hair (and smell delicious), and I refuse to leave the country without a travel-size pack in my carry-on. So naturally, I had to tell Aniston all of this when we hopped on Zoom the other week.

But our conversation wasn’t just about hair. The Morning Show actress told me about her foot care routine (yes, she has one), the morning meditation she swears by, her number one piece of beauty advice, and, most importantly, teased the elusive signature scent she’s worn for nearly 30 years. I tell myself that today is going to be a beautiful and great day. I just launch into the gratitude of waking up and believing that I’m divinely guided.

Honestly, I’m a quick-in-and-out. I’ve mastered the five-minute shower. But once a week I give myself a spa day shower. I use my LolaVie Scalp Scrub to really clean up all the residue and buildup from the week. It unclogs the follicles and gets my hair ready for growth. I’ll apply a Restorative Mask and let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes while it’s hot and steamy. I like to do a little meditation in there, too. I don’t do music, but I might listen to a podcast like The Smart Guys, Mel Robbins, or Dax Shepard. Then I’ll go on to my shampoo, conditioner, and Glossing Detangler.

When I’m having my spa day shower, I also do a good foot peel with one of those foot things—it’s not a pumice stone. It’s like a nail file for your heel. I have to have smooth heels.

I’ve worn the same fragrance for 30 years. It’s a combination of a few different oils, and no one can recreate it; it’s very signature to me. It’s a combination of floral and clean.

Great, beautiful, dewy skin. A red, almost sunburn-looking cheek. Earthy-colored shadows. Mascara. And a good lip. I have it down to a science—only takes me 15 or 20 minutes tops.

I’ve watched Chris McMillan and Kelsie Gigandet blow-dry my hair for so long, that now I kind of just mimic what they do. Not to brag, but I’ve gotten pretty good at it, to be honest. It also keeps my arms—in addition to P-Volve—toned.

Sexy plans or no sexy plans, it’s going to be a light, natural pink.

I always wash my face, no matter what. That’s my number one piece of advice: grab that headband, get your cleanser, wash your face, do your serum, and then off you go. There was a period in my 20s and even in my 30s where I would sort of be like, eh, I’ll do it in the morning. I started to realize that I just felt so crappy the next day.

Just collecting more and more wisdom, caring less about what people think and say, and not sweating the small stuff. I’m looking forward to enjoying time with my friends and not being such a workaholic.

Sleep and hydration. Those are my two good ones. I wish I had listened more about sunscreen, but you live and you learn.

I tell myself affirmations every single day. When things start getting hard and self-talk becomes super negative, I try to remind myself that I am enough and that I have three healthy babies. Sometimes I’ll feel like I’m not doing enough or showing up enough, but then I remind myself that I am enough—in all the ways. I’m enough as a mom, as a person, as a wife. I remind myself that my body is amazing and does amazing things, like giving birth. I try to honor that.

Well, first things first: I put on a good playlist that makes me feel confident. But in the shower, there are two things that I try to do—exfoliating, which I think is so important, and applying Bio-Oil. I’ve been prone to eczema my whole life, so moisturizing my skin is key—mainly because I live in Utah. I won’t leave the shower without applying it.

I have this weird symptom during and after pregnancy. My feet get so dry and sometimes cracked to the point where they physically hurt. So I apply Vaseline or Aquaphor with some Bio-Oil on my heels and sleep with socks on at night. Let me tell you, my feet are glowing in the morning.

Anything Dossier. I’m currently loving the amber vanilla. I love their products because they’re pretty natural, and I want to use pregnancy-safe products because I’m still breastfeeding right now.

I love a highlighter. Huge fan. Basically, I’m into anything that enhances what I already have naturally. I always use a lip liner and a lip gloss. I love a bright eyeshadow—give me anything shimmery. Oh, and then a lot of bronzer.

It’s so funny, actually, because everyone talks about the Mormon Wives' curls. I actually get mine with the heatless sock curls. I don’t have time to do my hair every single day, and this makes it so I can have a good hair day every day, and still keep my hair healthy at the same time. Is it comfortable to sleep in? No, but honestly, as a mom, you’re already uncomfortable every night, so it’s just eh.

I love a good white [French] tip. Or if I’m going to do a color, it’s pink or red. I typically always stick to a white tip on my toes, too.

For the most part, I’ll always do my nighttime routine. If I don’t, I don’t wake up feeling the same, and then my whole day is off.

I’m really looking forward to embracing who I am. A lot of people like to focus on looks, but there’s so much beauty in aging—and I think wrinkles are honestly cute. It shows that you’re growing, which is a beautiful thing. I think of each wrinkle like a chapter that marks that you’re turning into a wiser, better version of yourself.

I would probably say applying oil. I’ve had eczema since I was five, so applying a cocktail of moisturizers and oils has been in my routine since I can remember.

Mariska Hargitay is the new face of Cetaphil, and it’s a role that feels like kismet for the acclaimed actor. “This is a science-backed brand launching something that is actually ground-breaking and innovative in the beauty space,” Hargitay tells me in our sit-down interview. “I also have a soft spot in my heart for Cetaphil,” she adds, sharing that this was the brand her best friend’s mother used regularly. “I’d go over to Angelique’s house, and her mom was very particular and very perfect, and they always had Cetaphil,” she says. Fahy fans, our moment has arrived. Meghann Fahy was announced as the face of Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Eye Lift + Sculpt serum, a campaign that the entertainer says feels like a full-circle moment: “As long as I've been aware of beauty products, I've been aware of Estée Lauder,” she tells me during our chat. "When I was a kid, my mom always kept some products of the brand on the bathroom counter. I guess it’s the idea that I accept my full self—the whole spectrum of myself, all the gradations.

I like to put essential oils in the shower and use our body scrub. I also like to dry brush beforehand to invigorate the skin, exfoliate, and get the lymphatics going. Then I use a double exfoliant in the shower with essential oils. One time during a photoshoot, someone tied a bunch of dried eucalyptus leaves to my shower head, which was such a nice touch—I’ve done it a few times since then.

That’s a hard question. I guess shaving my legs.

Lately, I’ve been using a fragrance from Vrayo called Mamajuju. It smells warm and it’s spicy but not too spicy. It has a very earthy, warm sense to it.

Oh, man. I'm so bad at makeup. I mean, mascara, that's about as sophisticated as it gets. I'm not good at putting on lipstick. And also, my husband is not a fan of a red lip, so I've given up [laughs].

I'm a Chanel Rouge Noir girl. I've been for a long, long time.

If I’m really exhausted and not wearing makeup from an event or anything, I’ll do an abbreviated routine: just a little of our detox formula cleanser, a hot washcloth to scrub my face, then our peptide and face oil before bed. Now that we have the hydration serum, I may have to adjust it a bit.

I’m looking forward to a slower pace, more time just being and reading, and less doing.

I think face oil. I’ve used it for decades, partly because I’ve always been on the dry side. I naturally massaged my face with oil long before gua sha tools were what they are now. I feel like I just naturally always did that with face oil. And I think that combination of oil and keeping the skin really beautifully hydrated with massage is a great beauty tip.

I'm pretty consistent with gratitude. It was something I started years ago. Even if it’s just three things that I’m grateful for, I try to think about them as I’m getting out of bed and getting ready. As cliché and corny as it sounds, it really does work. Sometimes things are cliché for a reason. It helps to put my mind and energy in the right place.

I’ve had to learn how to become an efficient showerer because there are kids that I have to get to school and we have to get going. I’m quick when I have to be, but generally I’m a person who gets in the shower and stays there too long. I like a shower that gives me many options. I was a few different shampoos, and I want a body scrub and a few body washes.

I just got a new shower mat that sloughs away dead skin cells on my feet. It leaves my skin so soft. It’s an ongoing joke in my house about how long I’ll be in the shower. It’s my only time of peace in the day, so I’m like, lock me in there.

I love the Philosophy body mists—I’ve been using Vanilla Hug. I get stopped. I was actually stopped twice while dropping my daughter off at school. People ask, what is that smell? Everywhere I go, people turn their heads and ask what I’m wearing. Steve likes it, too—it’s an all-around hit. It’s also a bit of a throwback, and so cute to see my seventh grader ask me, Have you heard of body mists?

I always do a reddish lip and a black eyeliner with a glowy face and a little blush. It’s a look I know I can’t mess up.

Messy waves with a curling iron. I take about two-inch pieces and curl away from the face, and then I curl towards the face–just alternating as I go around my head. Then, I pull it down towards the ends as I go, so it gives me a more flat wave look. I’ve definitely watched and learned from people who do my hair. It’s taken me some practice, but I've got it down now.

I love Zola, who does my nails. I basically do anything she wants to do. She comes over and will do a glazed donut, or what I call the marble look. I like to play and have fun with it if I’m not filming. I apply a deeper color, such as brown or maroon, and then put the chrome over it.

I’m pretty well trained—I always wash my face. After really long nights of filming or being out with friends, I still know I have to wash my face when I get home. There’s nothing I hate more than having leftover eye makeup on in the morning. If I’m going to cut a corner, I’m going to use a makeup wipe.

As I grow older, I realize that I've gained wisdom with every passing year. There are things that I used to stress about or that took up space in my mind when I was younger, that now, as I’m older, they just don’t. I’m grateful for that. I’m just looking forward to where and what I can create.

I’ve never been someone who looks at every year that goes by as something to dread; I’ve always had the excitement and proof that life gets better as I get older. Maybe because I’m constantly putting my focus there, I’ve noticed that greater opportunities have come my way. I feel more in my body. I know who I am more. And as for the skin? We have our facial, and we’ll bring in the radiofrequency and be good.

Use a heavy-duty moisturizer. My mom taught me very early on not to skimp on face care. Then, when I got a little older, she made sure I used some sort of retinol, too. I swear by those two things.

I've been a huge Danielle Brooks fan ever since she played Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black. Her career has obviously evolved since those days, and she's managed to nab roles in even more noteworthy projects like 2023's The Color Purple, A Minecraft Movie, and currently, HBO's Peacemaker. Even as an actor and singer with a full plate, she still manages to make time for self-care and engaging in the beauty practices that make her feel her best.

Brooks and I share the same first name, but during the course of one 15-minute conversation with her, I learned that that isn't the only thing we have in common—we also both happen to have the same appreciation for Bath & Body Works fragrances as we do the luxury kind, and we're both guilty of abbreviating our nighttime skincare routines when we feel it's necessary.

I actually don't have a mantra, it's more of a song. So anytime that I listen to India Arie's "Private Party," it gets me to feeling my most feminine, most powerful, and my most grounded.

I always have my eucalyptus plant and my peppermint soap—those are my go-tos. I'm starting to get more into scrubs as well. Any time I get a gift bag with a body scrub in it, I always throw that into the shower. I keep my Cetaphil Gentle Foaming Cleanser in the shower with me for when I need to wash my face, and then—I don't know if people know about these—but I keep an African scrubber. It's basically just like a textured cloth that can really just help to scrub off the dirt.

A girlfriend of mine tried to get me into that red light face thing, but it wasn't working for me. But every now and then I'll put one of those little patches on my face for pimples. It's the Mario Badescu Drying Patch.

I like to use Maison Francis Kurkdijan OUD Satin Mood Eau de Parfum. That just sounds sexy. The real perfume people are going to kill me for this one, but it's such a strong scent, so sometimes I'll throw on the Bath & Body Works Mist in Champagne Toast to kind of lighten it up a little bit. You know how they talk about high-low fashion? It's kind of like high-low fragrance.

I do love when they pull the liner out and give me a little cat eye with a really good lash—that makes me feel sexy. And then if you really want to get into it, you could throw a little mole on my face—it don't matter where you put the mole. Placing a cute mole somewhere on my face makes me feel really sexy and feminine.

I've been calling it the braided bussdown. It's basically boho micro braids that come halfway down my back, and I just love those because even when I go to the gym, I can still feel feminine. I don't want to say beautiful because I'm always beautiful regardless of if my hair is down my back or not, or how tight my curls are. I'm always going to be beautiful, but it makes me feel sexy when I have those braids and I can toss 'em to the side. It's something about it, especially when it's that boho look.

No, ma'am. It's getting shortened. Even last night, I didn't take off my face until six in the morning, and that is not like me. I am an early bird, or at least I go to sleep early. But last night I made sure to wash my face and then I just moisturized with the Mary Kay Age Fighting Moisturizer because my mother still does Mary Kay.

Gaining more wisdom and not giving a damn what people think about me.

Putting lotion on! Putting lotion on my entire body—back, neck, legs, feet—and then also scrubbing my knees and elbows. That's something that I was taught by my mom and my grandmother since I was young. They didn't play about that. No rusty knees!

There’s a regular shower, an everything shower, and a sensual shower. An everything shower—it’s like there’s work to be done. You have to get yourself prepped and ready to go. But the sensual shower is more enjoyable. It’s less about preparing and it’s more about a mood.

I love to set the vibe with a few chapters of a spicy book or an audiobook. It helps me shift my mood and visually encompass what I want to feel. That’s exactly the type of energy I poured into the Water Bank Glow Short Story series. But obviously, the real magic happens after the shower. I always say, don't skip the follow-up. It's amazing if you have a great first date, but if there's no follow-up text or follow-up plan, it doesn’t matter. While my skin is actually still a little damp and my pores are open, to me, that's the best time to apply my skincare. It helps the product sink in and do its thing.

Probably the Neutrogena Collagen Bank Vitamin C Serum. It’s not the sexiest, but what I will say is that the glow it gives me is very sexy. It makes my skin dewy, bright, and feel, you know, hot.

I hired a professional makeup artist for a date once—never again. It didn’t go anywhere, and I couldn’t believe I just spent all that money. Moving forward, I do my own makeup for all date nights, whether it’s with my boyfriend or before that, when I was single. I love a winged eyeliner or a cat eye look—it’s very sexy and smoldering. Always a little lip and liner. Otherwise, my vibe is just about enhancing my natural features.

I love a slick back. It snatches up your cheekbones—maybe because it’s painful—and really just opens up your face. There’s something so sexy about being confident and having your face open to the world.

Everyone loves a red polish, but I really like to keep it bare with a Ballet Slippers color. I used to do this heart French manicure; it was my signature. But men, women, whoever is listening: you need to get your toes in order. My boyfriend gets pedicures now. Men need to get on board. Do you not want clean feet? Feet are everything.

I went to Rufus De Soul the other night, which was so fun. I got home at like two in the morning and went straight to the bathroom, and I did my entire routine. Isn't that insane? When I was in my twenties, I obviously fell asleep with my entire face on and woke up to a face on my pillow. But as you get a little older and more responsible—when your prefrontal cortex develops and you see the consequences of your actions—you realize there’s nothing better than waking up glowy.

It’s funny—it was my mom’s birthday yesterday. I always ask her, what was your favorite age of mine? She said: Every year just gets better. I feel like she's really given me a mentality that doesn’t fear aging. My grandmother is 90 years old and she loves her age. She always says that aging is a privilege denied to many. Every year that I age, I just keep getting older, hotter, and wiser. But if you’re really asking me, I’m just looking forward to having more money.

It wouldn’t be washing my face now, would it? It’s probably always to wear SPF. I have rosacea, and my skin is very sensitive. I’ve always thought the sun was poisonous, and I’m determined to look as hot as my grandmother at 90.

My LED mask. My husband will walk into the room when I'm using it and be completely bewildered. He literally told me that I looked like I was going to space once. Always something super bronzy and soft, paired with glowy, beautiful skin. I try to keep it pretty natural with a light flush on the cheeks and a subtle lip liner too. Brown shades are always my go-to.

My favorite hairstyle is a slicked-back bun. I feel like it's the cleanest and also a powerful hairstyle. It allows you to really show off your beauty and your skin.

I’m such a nude girl. My nails are always nude. My manicurist actually customizes the shade right in front of me at every appointment. Around two years ago, I used this shade from Madame Glam called XOXO, which is another great neutral option.

I always do the full routine no matter how tired I am. I feel like in the moment you might not want to do it, but waking up the next morning, I'm always very happy that I did.

Learning and gaining more knowledge. Also, I feel like as I age, I develop so much more confidence. So, growing more in that arena and being able to teach all the things that I've learned to my daughter.

Hydration. I feel like I can always tell the difference in my skin overall if I haven't been drinking enough water.

Except this time, the products feel like they're addressing the concerns of her core Millennial audience, which, like the founder herself, is entering a more mature phase of life.

"We went back and forth with the laboratory sometimes 20 times just perfecting each and every single one," she says of the final formulas. Every time I get in the shower, it’s like my few minutes of peace—my kids aren't going to interrupt me, and my assistant can't get in the shower—so I always take that moment to enjoy the experiential part of getting clean.

I think that the more natural a woman looks, the younger and fresher she appears. It’s so much fun for us women to play with makeup and lashes and all of that, but I’ve found that less is more. That said, when it comes to hair, in particular, for me, more is more. I need more hydration, more performance, more of everything.

Hair down with my natural curls or waves always makes me feel magical. I bounce between the two because I get different results depending on how I do my braids. If I do two [braids], I get less curl and more of a beach-wave vibe, which I’m equally as obsessed with as when I have my full, voluminous curls.

Maintaining firmness. I don’t care about little wrinkles here and there, but I want to look firmer as I get older, because it shows that you still have that vitality, and you go out there and exercise. It reflects in your skin and in the way you face life.

I also love a good-smelling shower gel that has something like bergamot. There’s some exfoliation happening too, and when I get out, I moisturize. That’s really sexy.

Here me out: Coppertone sunscreen. I wish I could just be in the sun and live my best life, but I have to be there applying sunscreen. It’s sexy because it keeps me sexy and safe. I’m a Sport’s Spray SPF 50 person. It’s so easy to put on when I’m training outside. I have the biggest fear of farmer’s tan and with this, I just don’t have to worry about it. I gave it to my teammates for a tour we were just on and these girls were all Coppertone baddies. It was being sprayed everywhere.

I’m a really big fan of bergamot, but I’ve actually been wearing a lot of Gucci Flora. It’s really good. I was wearing some Valentino the other day. I don’t have a signature scent, but I do love perfume.

I’ll be honest: I like doing my own makeup more than getting it done. I’m with my face every minute of the day, so I know what I like. I’ll have makeup artists that do fantastic jobs, but there’s something that doesn’t sit right. My favorite thing to do is my brows—they disappear in the sunlight. Then, I’ll just do Maybelline mascara, highlighter, and a little blush. I like a dewy look.

I’m really getting into my slick-back journey. It’s been fun because I don’t know how to do my hair. I don’t know how to curl it, I don’t know how to straighten it, but I’ve never known how to give myself a blowout. I very much only had one setting for Going Out Hair and now I’m in my late twenties, finding a new hairstyle that looks good on me. You never get done learning what works for you and what makes you feel sexy and beautiful. I love finding new ways to make myself feel good as I’m getting older and changing.

Well, I’m really trying to get over my nail biting. It’s a constant battle. I’m fighting the urges every day. I actually try to not put stuff on my nails because I’ll pick it off. I usually like my toes neutral, but sometimes I like them a little quirky with a red color. It’s so fun.

I’ll be real with you: last night, I went out and had many, many margaritas with my friend, and I came home and was unwell. I just got in the shower to feel clean, brushed my teeth, and got into bed, hoping the world would stop spinning. Then, I got up to pee five more times.

From what I hear, it only gets better. You get more confident, you understand yourself more, and you’re more sure of yourself. I’m excited to learn myself and my style, hair, and skin more. There’s so much to learn and relearn.

I have a shadow figure. Her name is Claire. And Claire says a lot of negative things in the morning, so my morning routine is to tell Claire to be quiet. My latest one is to be in awe and be grateful because sometimes, I still have the negative loop in my brain that tells me "Viola, you've got to do this, you've got to do that, you're not doing this, you're not doing that." So I make it a point to go to some quiet place and say, "I'm just going to be grateful."

Any L’Oreal lipstick—they’re my favorite formulas, I have an entire drawer dedicated just to them. I also love anything that makes me glow, but sometimes I go overboard with it, and my daughter has to step in and say, 'Mama, that's too much.' I don’t care though, I’ll still put it on my cheeks, my nose, my eyes—just everywhere. I also have to say that I love a good lash.

There are a lot of them. My afro makes me feel great. I always feel like it brings out the Leo in me when I walk in the room because it’s so attention-grabbing. I'm like, "I know you're looking at me." Still, I do like my small ‘fro and a good bob too.

I’m a lover of perfume; I have over 30 bottles. My newest scent is something called Safari that I got when I was in Abu Dhabi. A lot of my scents are also essential oils-based, so anything that has that kind of natural scent profile is my vibe. I also really love fragrances from Dior and Clive Christian.

That sort of peace of knowing that I've lived an interesting life. That feeling of being alive and having so much passion for life that I'm not so afraid of death. I'm looking forward to that, and right now, I feel better than I've ever felt. I feel freer and prouder of myself than ever before, so I think I’m on the right track.

A few weeks ago, I scored a ticket to Nikki Glaser’s Alive and Unwell Tour at Beacon Theater in New York City, and I belly-laughed my ass off for a solid 90 minutes while simultaneously appreciating the comedian’s impeccable spray tan. But that shouldn’t come as a surprise—Glaser is quite the comedian and (fun fact) a beauty girl to her core. In fact, she just landed a partnership with L’Oréal Professionnel AirLight Pro.

So when I had a chance to catch up with the Golden Globes host via Zoom, I knew there would be some hot beauty takes and, of course, a Taylor Swift/Gracie Abrams shoutout. I didn’t expect a lengthy convo about peeing in the shower, bunions, and Chat GPT’s nail forecasting powers. But such is what you get when you’re face-to-face with Glaser.

Today, I did a meditation, and it was like, "You are strong, you are a star." I was just trying to imagine how I would feel if I were Taylor Swift when she wakes up. When you manifest things, your body has to feel like they’ve already happened—you can’t hope for something, you have to feel like you already are living the life you want. I try to imagine in my body what I would feel like if I was a pop star, which I think is the embodiment of a strong, confident, badass woman. How would Tate Mcrae feel waking up and getting out of bed? I’m not as a bendy as her—my joints are a little stiffer—but that’s what I tap into. The other day I was walking into my hotel room, schlepping a bunch of bags, and I said to my boyfriend, when do you think was the last time J-Lo lugged luggage? I just want to get to a place in my life where I can be J. Lo.

My shower is not sexy. I am a really fast shower-er. It’s almost embarrassing how quickly I shower because I think that people are like, did you get everything you needed to get done in there? I can shave my legs, wash my hair, condition, and wash my body in less than four minutes. Sometimes I just stay in there and read a shampoo bottle just because I have nothing left to do. I don't like to waste time and I definitely don't like to waste water. My dad is an environmentalist and he drilled very quick showers into my head.

I guess if I was trying to be sexy in a shower, I wouldn't pee. But that would be really hard for me to not do. I don't know how my body would adjust to not peeing in the shower because that's one of the sexiest things I do in there. It’s so hot.

I use toe separators because I have bunions. They're called like Correct Toes. I get them on Amazon and they separate your feet, a lot more than even a pedicure would do. My big toe and my second toe are always crossing. They look like they’re worried about something and are hugging. I actually do like my feet and I don’t care that I have bunions, but I really like when I can see all my toes spread apart. I wear them to bed and as soon as I get off stage, I take off my tight shoes and reorient my feet.

My boyfriend hates scent, so I’m wearing nothing. It's one of the hardest things of our relationship. He does not like any artificial or even natural smells. Like, he just doesn't like smells. The only time I could wear perfume was when he had Covid. That's when I really took advantage of it. I was wearing Le Labo Another 13. I don’t trust my own attraction to smells so I’m always going off of what other people wear. I trusted this one because Gracie Abrams wears it.

I really paint on my upper lip with Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk or Makeup Forever Whatever Walnut. I got really into it after the Golden Globes. My makeup artist made me a bigger upper lip because I really don’t have one. I thought it was overdone at first and it kind of scared me. I was like, what is going on here? But then I got used to it. It’s like getting bangs. The first day is like, what the hell? And then everyone gets used to it. I actually wearing an overlined lip the other day and my girlfriends were saying how they needed to get filler too. They’re all millennials who haven’t gotten into overlining their lips. I converted them.

It really does make me feel sexier. I also love a wing. If you go to my explore page on Instagram, it’s all girls doing different tutorials on how to get the best wing.

I just like a simple blowout with a round brush and my L’Oréal AirLight Pro Blow Dryer. The infrared technology makes it feel almost like it's nourishing your hair as opposed to drying it out. And I can still listen to music while I’m using it because it's not too loud. I also use the Unite 7 Seconds Detangler, but just a light dousing. You can go too heavy very easily and you really don’t need much. Then I love Olaplex oil.

I get whatever chat GPT tells me is a good soft summer color. I got a color analysis recently. A woman came to my apartment and draped me with different colored cloths. I'm a soft summer. I normally pick a random color at the nail salon and it's always the wrong one. Now I just ask Chat GPT what OPI gel color is good for a soft summer. Lately, I've been doing like a greenish gray. I do like an eggshell white, too, though.

It’s already so abbreviated so I’ll do the whole shebang. If I’m at a hotel, I’m taking advanged of the free towels and soaking off my makeup with hot water. I’ll use whatever cleanser I have—I’m not picky. Then I use this Plated Intense Serum. That’s my secret trick. It's $7 a squirt, so it's expensive stuff. I use it every night and don't wash my face in the morning.

My other go-to is The Ordinary’s 100 percent Squalane. It doesn’t feel heavy and it keeps me moisturized all day long and through the night. I’ve tried every kind of moisturizing cream, but nothing woks as well as this and it’s only eight dollars a bottle.

I’m looking forward to being a pro in my field. I could only be this good at what I do for a living after having done it for 23 years. I just look forward to getting better at pretty much everything I do. I think that's what people don't focus on with aging is that you get those 10,000 hours.

In terms of looks, I actually went to a plastic surgeon today to talk about what I can have done. I was looking at the before and afters and I was really gravitating to towards the “before” women. I really don't mind having a face that maybe does lose a little bit of fat. I like a woman with like an angular face that shows that she has been through some stuff. Of course, these women look stunning after, but there's something about the before woman that I wanna have coffee with. I've never felt that way before.

I thought going to a plastic surgeon would make me want to get everything. But I left not even knowing if I wanted anything. Am I going to get touch-ups here and there? Yes, but I also don't mind looking my age. It's not that I'm like proud that I've survived and I don't wanna make it sound like righteous or something, but I find that older people are interesting. I'm not ashamed of aging, and I'm so grateful that it’s finally showing up in my life.

I’ve always protected my face from the sun—even in high school, when I’d go to tanning beds like a moron, I would still cover my face with a towel. Now, I try to wear SPF every time I go out. My favorite new brand is Vacation—the Crystal SPF 50. It goes on so smoothly and clearly. It is hydrating, too. I could almost just use it as a moisturizer. I'm obsessed.”

It’s unisex but not too masculine, and I love it. I had an era in high school when all I would wear was really manly colognes. I’m over it now, but this feels like a nice in-between.

I'm a little bit of a rebel. I like very natural makeup. Maybe a thick eyebrow using some gel, a little bit of an over-lined lip, and some chapstick. I also love to leave my hair super curly when I go that route.

As I get older, I keep seeing parts of my mom and dad in my face. It’s kind of weird, but I also love that I keep seeing parts of my history and heritage continue to come up. I’m a die-hard believer in icing my face. t's something that I've seen my mom do, and I've continued. It really helps with my rosacea, and if I have a breakout, am inflamed or puffy, or anything along those lines, it helps to calm my skin down immediately.

Chances are, you know Ariana Madix. Maybe you’ve been a Super Fan like me since 2013, when she made her bartending-slash-reality-tv debut on Vanderpump Rules. It’s possible you caught on during her Broadway stint, where she played the one and only Roxie Hart in Chicago. If you missed both those boats, then you most definitely caught her as host on Love Island USA. That all being said, I fully expected her beauty routine to be incredibly extra. No judgment at all, but I envisioned Madix’s bathroom and shower to be stocked with gadgets and gizmos galore.

But! After spending 20 minutes with the reality star to discuss Bio-Oil's Scar Stories campaign, I stand corrected. Her approach to beauty, wellness, and aesthetics is incredibly relatable for the average girl. She requires fear tactics to get her butt out of bed (does anyone really just rise and shine?), finds her most effective body care at the drugstore (Bio-Oil for the win), and is still skeptical about the dry brushing craze (although, she’s going to engage in the lymphatic drainage technique anyway).

I'm whatever the opposite of a morning person is. When I wake up, I snooze the alarm a few times. So honestly, my mantra is just: get out of bed. I remind myself of all of the things that I need to do in order to scare myself into getting up. It’s all about fear tactics.

I am a night shower [person] for sure, but sometimes it's both. If I have to have cute hair in the morning, I need to shower when I wake up and do a blowout. I hate my bathroom, though and I plan on redoing it as soon as I can. Then it will be very sensual and gorgeous. I also don’t know if this even works—I kind of think it’s fake—but I do dry brush. I don’t actually think it’s doing anything, but I am committed to the bit. I love to shower, and then when I get out, I’ll use oil on my body and put a red light mask on it to feel extra luxurious.

Probably Bio-Oil. When you say Bio-Oil, people aren’t like, oh yea, so sensual. But it smells nice and makes my skin so nourished and hydrated. For me, what’s made me feel the most sexy, which may not be inherently sexy, is consistency in my routine. I make sure that I’m doing All The Things for myself even when I don’t feel sexy or I don’t want to. That makes me feel the most confident the next morning when I’m using my fear tactics to get myself out of bed. It makes me think of loving myself not as a concept but as a verb.

I like to layer fragrances. The combination of the moment is a vanilla sandalwood. I’ll start with the Hong Kong scent from Le Labo, which is a neroli and bergamot. It starts floral, but then it leans more citrus and it has a woody cedar in there. Then I’ll use Sol de Janiero Chieriosa 59—the purple one—because it kills it with vanilla.

I'm getting better at doing my own makeup. I have one look, and I know it’s probably dated, and maybe it's very millennial of me, but it's that shadow in the inner corner. I have hooded eyes, and it makes me look awake. I know that Gen Z-ers love to skip shadow, but people ask me if I'm tired or okay when I don't have an eyeshadow. I love a juicy cheek moment. I'm not the greatest at creating it, but I’ll try to do a contour, a blush, and a highlight.

I’m also so into a cool-toned nude lip, which is very difficult because everything turns orange. I’m still looking for that perfect gray.

I like my hair down sometimes, but honestly, I feel hottest in a slicked-back bun because I'm not worried about my hair. If it's down, I'm worried about whether my cowlick showing, right? Then I'm distracted, and then I'm not feeling sexy because I'm thinking about my cowlick.

I don’t own any nail polish. I can't, for the life of me, paint my own nails. I might to some quick press-ons, though. They have some really cool looks. Basically, I’m a nail girl that sucks at nail maintainance.

In the past, I may have just crawled into bed with a makeup wipe and fallen asleep. But I’ve grown. Now, even when it’s late, I force myself to do most of my routine. I’m still going to go to the sink and cleanse. I’m going to apply my Bio-Oil. And, I’m still going to do my sleep mask—even if it means carrying it to my bed. I’ve lived the crusty morning life and I can’t do it anymore.

In the past, I may have been a little bit scared of what aging would look like. Am I going to quote-unquote age well? But I’ve realized there are many things you can’t control. The effects of loving myself are going to make me feel good about going into these bigger ages. I feel privileged that I've made it this far, and hopefully I'll get another 40 or another 60 years. I wanna hit a hundred.

I get in a good headspace with my morning meditation. I do 20 minutes every morning when I first wake up. If I'm with my husband, we’ll meditate together, which is something I love and cherish. We sit up in bed—early enough before the kids wake up—so that we have that alone time, which sets the tone for the rest of my day. I’ve been doing it for around 10 years now. It gets hard because my children were little and waking up at odd hours of the night, but now that they’re 16 and 11, it’s really become my me-time. But if I’m working like crazy and getting up at five in the morning, sleep becomes king and I’m bypassing my meditation.

I honestly wish I could say that my shower was sensual. That's not to say that it hasn't been. We have a steam shower, and my husband and I will go in for a bit of steam, and then we will make it sensual. But typically, I am very quick in the shower. There are a number of products in there because we all share the same shower. There are a couple of detangling brushes in there. When we want to create a spa-like experience, it requires a lot of work to take everything out and put the essential oils in. But it’s worth it when it’s done.

I have these Korean dry brush gloves that are super strong. They’re next level. There is a Korean spa in LA that I frequent quite often—as much as I can when I'm in town—and you just lay on a table and they scrub the dead skin cells off. It’s very utilitarian. But I’ll take those puppies home, and when I get in the shower, I do the same darn thing. I try and do it once a week. My skin is so soft afterward. I’ll apply what I think is the sleeper hit of U Beauty after: The Super Body Hydrator. Then my skin is glowing with this natural, gorgeous sheen. It makes me feel very sexy.

I really, really, really love a fresh, clean scent. I have this French spearmint one that I really love. Tom Ford made one that he discontinued. It was called Lavender Palm. He released it when he opened up his flagship store on Rodeo Drive. When he discontinued it, it just broke my heart.

I'm a minimalist when it comes to makeup, much like my skincare routine. I like things that are multifunctional and simple. My date night makeup doesn’t really differentiate from my daytime routine. I might add Clé de Peau concealer around my nose, my chin, any red spots. I actually don’t use concealer under my eyes, though. I feel like I've never been a huge fan of it. When I do it, I feel like it looks weird. It starts to cake and draws more attention to my lines. I do a little highlighter and use Boy Brow. I like a little RMS Lip 2 Cheek situation. I love the U Beauty Universal Lip Plasma—so good. It gives a little plump and makes my lips glisten a bit. I’ll use whatever mascara is lying around. I think I have a very French approach.

If you can get me to brush my hair, we are winning. I like the natural texture of my hair, which has a wave to it. I like to take good care of my hair and keep it conditioned, but in terms of styling my hair I’m very much a minimalist. I use this Olaplex bond smoother sometimes in the shower. I’ll throw that in and air dry or go to sleep with it, and gives me a lived-in texture when it’s dry. I also like to rock a bun a lot of the time—probably more than I should.

I love a French manicure. I think a French manicure is very sexy, feminine, and classic. I love it. So the goal is always to grow my nails long enough so that I can rock the tips.

I mean if I had a big night out like Jaclyn in last week's episode—I’m just passing out; girl had a night. That’s not to say that I haven’t had nights like that, but I’m pretty good about washing my face in the shower and going to bed. I love the Mantle Cleanser, and there's this Foreo cleansing device that I just discovered and am obsessed with. I just discovered it recently because I've been wearing a lot of makeup nonstop from filming, and I just felt like, oh my gosh, my skin really needs it. I hadn't had a chance to get a facial for months and needed a good cleanse. I love the Resurfacing Compound, the moisturizer, and the Return Eye Concentrate. That’s it.

It's been such a nice journey to get older. No one likes to see their body age or feel aches and pains, but I feel more empowered. I feel more in my skin than I ever have. I have such a sense of agency at this point in my life, having led a career that I'm really, really proud of and having a successful family life. All of those things are challenging at different times. I’m in a lovely space right now where I can reflect, take stock, and be like, you've done it, girl. It is hard finding your career and discovering the things that you're passionate about. I feel like I've been able to navigate that fairly gracefully, I'm grateful for it.

Don’t overpluck your eyebrows. I fell victim to skinny brows in the ‘90s and, well, never again. They frame your face in such a significant way. My daughter has very, very thick, beautiful brows. She has her autonomy, and she does what makes her feel comfortable, but I always say don’t over-pluck them because, eventually, they might not want to come back.

One thing about me: I love a slow morning. I have become Queen of the Snooze. But I have gotten really big on focusing on those first, five minutes in the morning. I tell myself that I'm so grateful to be taking on another day, and whether I know that the day has a lot in store or it's a slower day, I'm just grateful to have the opportunity to take it one step at a time and go into it with a positive attitude.

I shower morning and night. I’m just super clean. I love getting in bed with clean hair, clean everything and I love a shower to wake me up. I actually stole a little eucalyptus spray situation from a hotel, and it’s so lovely and wonderful and all natural. It makes me feel like I’m in a spa.

I will do whatever it takes to get rid of acne. I will SOS call my dermatologist and be like, What do I need on my counter right now? I’ve gotten a lot better because I know it’s not good, but I will go in there with my fingers.

My go-to fragrance for the longest time has been Miss Dior. Obviously fragrance is so personal, but this one just works for me.

Less is more. I love to go for some concealer. I curl my lashes. If I have time, I’ll do a lash but otherwise I pick a good mascara wand, like Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill, that that’s a little bit thinner and really allows me to get in there to those inner corners. I brush my brows up with a little spoolie and do a blush moment, and always Wherever Walnut Makeup Forever Lip Liner with a lip balm.

Well, I just got a bob. It was partially work related and partially just getting to a place in life where I just wanted a change, but not wanting to cut bangs or color my hair. The only option left was really cutting it off. I’ve really just gotten into the swing of styling it. I love a blowout, but using the Nexxus Hy-Volume shampoo and conditioner is the greatest thing to happen to my hair in a really long time.

Well, I work with Tom Bachik and he is the King of a Color Mix. I can never name what color I’m wearing because he’s mixed about 10 of them. This plum, vampy color that I’m wearing is up there with my favorites. I like something darker that has a touch of red, or purple, or navy underneath.

I don’t care how tired I am, all my makeup is coming off. I simply cannot get into bed with product in my hair or makeup on my face. I won’t sleep. I use this face wash by Christie Kidd and it’s the perfect everything facial cleanser. It’s my not-so-secret-secret. I really believe you gotta get in there.

I’m excited to continue to just grow into myself and find confidence. I feel so lucky. I have so many incredible women in my family and in my life that have aged so gracefully and so beautifully. I have no idea what my 30s, 40s, or beyond that will bring, but I'm so excited by it. It’s such a privilege to be able to age, right? So I look forward to it.

Despite never meeting Chelsea Handler until last week, she’s historically been one of those celebrities with whom I firmly believe I have an intimate, personal relationship. I’ve seen her ski topless (she’s going at it again—black bathing suit edition—tomorrow, in partnership with Gold Bond), talk about her sex life, and give many a pep talk on her podcast “Dear Chelsea.”

But give me a Zoom link and 20 minutes with Handler and you better believe I’m having her answer my most burning questions. Now, I’m happy to report that I know what she smells like (it’s not what you think), am filled in on her “addiction” to having soft skin (plus the $13 product that makes it happen), and perhaps a bit too much about her love affair with her tongue scraper (see, we got into it). The latter is key to her getting In the Mood, FYI.

The first five minutes after I open my eyes, I look in the mirror and say, “Hello, beautiful. What kind of business are we going to get up to today?” I start off with a positive attitude. I've realized how important the gratitude aspect is. It’s magnetic, so what you put out is what you receive. Every morning is a chance to start again.

I shower after my workout, but I try not to wash my hair too much. I’m not a long-time shower person; you’ll never hear me singing in there. I’m getting in there, hitting my hot spots, and getting out as quickly as possible. My self-care happens afterward. I moisturize everywhere as often as possible because I'm addicted to soft skin. If you touch my skin—many people have—you'll also understand how moisturized I am. I use Gold Bold Daily Lotion and put it all over my body.

My tongue scraper. My dentist introduced this to me about three or four years ago. Basically, it removes any sediment in your mouth or on your tongue. I scrape my tongue every morning in the shower—trust me, you will never have bad breath again in your life. You will never have coffee breath. We’re all brushing our teeth but a tongue scraper is a key ingredient. It’s my number one pet peeve for anything that I’m interested in of the opposite sex. If you do not have clean, healthy hygiene in your mouth, we have nothing to talk about.

I don’t use fragrance. My natural scent is good enough. I also find that sometimes fragrances overpower and irritate my skin or give me headache. I just smell like the creams I put on and the shampoo and conditioner I use. And, obviously, my deodorant.

I don't use a lot of makeup when I'm alone because I've been in hair and makeup chairs a lot of my life. But if I am, I use Armani Luminous Silk Concealer for under my eyes, which can be dark, and around my nose where I have some redness. I have a couple of versions: shade three, four, four and a half. I get my eyelashes tinted and lifted every few weeks, so I can just curl them. I’m high maintenance to be low maintenance at the same time. It’s quite a combo.

I usually just throw my hair up and put a hat on. We’re just going for it.

I only wear [Essie] Mademoiselle, a nice translucent pink. I don’t put colors on my fingers and toes.

I go to sleep wearing makeup a lot. People don’t like that answer, but I’m 50 years old and something is working. Last night I was so tired when I got home that I just put my eye shades on. When I took them off this morning, they had concealer all over them. My makeup artist can’t believe I do it, but, listen, it’s working. I’m not good about washing my face or having a nighttime routine. I’m a low-key woman in that regard.

I feel more and more grounded each year. I feel more like myself and more solid—I'm looking forward to more of that. My confidence is real and tangible, and I feel the older I get, the better I am at injecting other people with the same confidence.

It’s more of a photography tip. Don't look directly at the camera. You always turn to the side a little bit to angle yourself. It doesn't matter which side—you can pick your favorite. And when you smile, try to look like you're being asked a question—almost like you’re surprised.

Do you know what the morning mantra is? Leave me the f–k alone. I need some time by myself when I first wake up. If there's too much noise or distraction, I can’t get my head sorted and the whole day is ruined.

I don’t shower. I’m a bather—and it’s usually a bubble bath situation. There’s always some bath oil—a Le Labo, Jo Malone, or a nice-smelling bubble thing. I like a little bit of candlelight, too.

I'm usually quite well-manicured. But I wear flip flops and sandals a lot and when your feet are exposed, they can get dry and all that kind of icky stuff. They need a good scrub to get rid of that cracking. I have this heel shaving thing—it’s like a cheese grater for my feet—and it takes off bits of my skin. That’s pretty unsexy. But let me tell you: you can have some pretty sexy feet after a really ugly foot care ritual. Just saying.

Anything that’s smoky. There’s this perfume company called Perfumer H; they’re all-natural, which I love, but they have this scent called Smoke, and it’s incredibly sexy. There’s also this Comme de Garçons cologne called Wonderwood; I love to spray it on my neck. You're not supposed to rub it in either—apparently, it bruises it. Some pretentious perfumer somewhere in the world told me that. He was probably right, but I’ll admit it was hard not to burst out laughing.

I'm big on lashes. L'Oréal has this amazing mascara called Panorama. It gives me a really big, luscious wide eye. They also have a Color Riche Lipstick that’s really creamy. It’s not too shiny and it stains well, so you can really rub ‘em in. Since I was younger, I’ve used lipstick on my eyes as eyeshadow. You don’t need a makeup artist—or even a mirror—for that.

I don't do anything with my hair. I'm completely useless. When it's not blown out, it's very frizzy. I love it when I have a blowout, and then I wake one morning, three days later, and just put a band in the back of my hair. I like to be half done.

Always red on the toes. Always. And a soft pink, translucent shade on the nails. I’d love to be one of those people who wears colors, but it just doesn’t work for me. I’m boring.

For most of my life, it was no routine and straight to bed. But lately I’m trying to at least scrub my eyes. There are these Blephaclean pads that have a bit of texture on them. They’re great for getting off mascara. Then I use Simple Makeup Remover Wipes and that sums it up.

I used to have a fantasy that when I end up in a home, at least I’ll have time to read. Reading is one of the things that I really enjoy doing but that I let go of most when things are so busy and intense. If I'm gonna read something, it needs to be a script as opposed to a book. I work really hard to keep the novels in there, but I struggle. So, when I am old and in a home, while everybody else is playing bingo, I'm gonna be sitting and catching up on all the classics that I haven't given myself time to read. I’ve always wanted to read Middlemarch.I started listening to it as an audiobook, which was not the way to go. I want to properly enjoy a solid copy rather than rolling my eyes at a robotic version.

Tinted moisturizer is the bomb dot com. It makes such a difference and really evens everything out. I rely on it a lot.
