Every time my fiancé compliments my summer date night outfit, I tell him which fashion girl-in-love inspired it. First, I took cues from Gigi Hadid's butter yellow pants. Last weekend, Taylor Swift brought my unseasonal velvet dress out of storage. Now, I'm making a reservation just to channel Sarah Pidgeon's rumored off-duty date outfit with Joe Alwyn.

Yes, Swifties, you read that right. That Joe Alwyn was spotted with Pidgeon in New York City on June 13. The evening wasn't as elevated as Swift and Travis Kelce's trip to Broadway that same night—and neither was the dress code. Still, Pidgeon's jeans outfit would've made Alwyn fall for her right then and there (hypothetically, of course).

People's exclusive photos captured the Love Story star in a white racerback tank top, Kylie Jenner's go-to for dates with Timothée Chalamet. Much like Jenner, she gave the VIP hero item a noughties twist with ultra-low-rise jeans. Initially, the mid-wash pair started as skinny as cigarette denim, before flaring slightly around her black, suede ballet flats.

If their short block heels look familiar, that's because Kaia Gerber designed them with her favorite French footwear brand, Repetto. She's yet to style the sold-out, $495 pair on a date with her boyfriend, Lewis Pullman, though.

Next, Balenciaga's Le City Bag third-wheeled Pidgeon's walk with Alwyn. The actor chose the medium size in black, crinkle-textured leather, which she showcased in a recent Fall 2026 campaign with the Pierpaolo Piccioli-led label. Le City's slouchy, lived-in silhouette, long zipper tassels, and silver studs made the It bag significantly edgier than Pidgeon's Balenciaga Rodeo. Regardless, it looked so effortlessly grunge with low-rise jeans. Back in the early 2000s, Kate Moss stacked her original Balenciaga City over almost identical denim.

Pidgeon and Alwyn have yet to comment on their connection, including whether or not it's romantic. However, each new sighting sends a wave of déjà vu down my spine. It seems the two took a page out of Harry Styles and Zoë Kravitz's Big Book of Public, But Mostly Private Dating.

Months before Kravitz debuted her unmissable engagement ring, they soft-launched their relationship with equally-cool off-duty outfits. Last September, they matched each other's energy in neutral T-shirts and straight-leg jeans. By March 2026, they doubled up on the barn jacket trend.

Surprisingly, Pidgeon and Alwyn already share the same taste in jeans: straight-leg, but not too skinny. If they're anything like Styles and Kravitz, they'll graduate to identical denim shades in no time.

Although it's been a week now since the final two episodes of Taylor Swift's The End of an Era docuseries premiered on Disney+, fans are still dissecting and discussing many of the biggest revelations and most candid moments from the series.

One moment that got many fans' attention came during the docuseries' fourth episode, titled "Thank You for the Lovely Bouquet," in which Swift opened up about her relationship with her fiancé, Travis Kelce, and touched on what sets him apart from some of her exes.

Swift made one comment, in particular, that many interpreted as a subtle dig at actor Joe Alwyn, who the singer dated for more than six years.

"Travis is just very comfortable with, conceptually speaking, a big life," Swift says in the viral clip. "Because he has one."

"Oh the shade," one X user, whose post with the clip has been viewed more than 773,000 times, wrote along with the video.

In replies to the post, others were quick to make it clear they had the same interpretation of the clip.

One wrote that they saw the quote as Swift calling Kelce the "first guy I dated on my level," while another commented, "She’s like 'someone finally gets it, instead of making me feel bad for it.'"

"Yes. He works for a billion dollar organization, performs for an audience of millions on a weekly basis, he understands the thrills and pressures of the lifestyle," another fan wrote of the ways that Kelce, like Swift, lives a "big" life. "He also lives out loud, not caring what outsiders think."

Still others expressed their reactions with GIFs and Swiftified labels like "shadelor" and "tayshade."

The so-called shadiness of the comment stems from the notoriously-private approach Swift and Alwyn took to their relationship, something many attribute largely to the actor's preference for living out of the spotlight as much as possible—and something that's incredibly difficult to do for someone as famous as Swift.

While Swift didn't make any direct references to any of her exes, she did open up elsewhere in the fourth episode of the series about the difficult times she faced in her personal life early in the tour.

"There were points in this tour where the tour was really the only thing keeping me going in my life," she said (per E! Online). "But there were never points in the tour where I though, 'Oh I want to quit the tour because the tour is hard.' No, my personal life was hard."

The hard times she references include going through not just one, but two breakups in quick succession—first with Alwyn and then with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy following a brief, whirlwind romance shortly after her split from Alwyn—before connecting with Kelce in the summer of 2023.

"I went through two breakups in the first half of this tour and that's a lot of breakups, actually," she said. "This show gave me purpose and what I could use to get me out of bed. The tour has never been the hard thing in my life. The tour has been the thing that allowed me to find purpose outside of the sh*t that was going on in my life."

As hard as her personal life got, however, Swift said she always loved being on the Eras Tour.

"Men will let you down, and the Eras Tour never will," she quipped.

Ever since Daniel Craig announced that he would be stepping down as James Bond following 2021's No Time to Die, there has been much talk about who the next Bond will be. Over the past few years, basically every British actor who could reasonably portray a suave spy has been asked whether they'd be open to taking the role. The latest? Joe Alwyn, an actor who has appeared in a wide variety of films and is in the Best Picture Oscar-nominated The Brutalist, but who is still best known to many as Taylor Swift's ex.

While walking the Oscars red carpet, Alwyn was asked by Variety about appearing on the list of potential new Bond actors.

"Oh wow. Who wouldn't throw their hat in the ring?" the 34-year-old responded. Reporter Marc Malkin asked, "Could you imagine doing it one day?" To which Alwyn laughed and said, "I mean, if you’re offering." Alwyn also said that he likes martinis both shaken and stirred. An adaptable Bond! A chill Bond! A Bond that secretly co-writes pop songs?

He was wearing a classic tux on the red carpet, so it's easy to see him in the role, too.

Other actors whose names have been talked about as the speculation continues include Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page, Theo James, and Henry Golding.

Alwyn wasn't the only one talking about Bond at this year's Oscars. The show paid tribute to the James Bond franchise with an introduction from Die Another Day star Halle Berry, a montage of film clips, a choreographed dance featuring Margaret Qualley, and a performance of songs from Bond movies by Lisa, Doja Cat, and Raye. But, sadly, no reveal of the new Bond. Just think, he—or she?!—could have waltzed out in the middle of that dance number.

No one likes to feel like they're stuck living in the past, but when your ex is one of the most famous people on the planet, it can be hard to get other people to move on—which can be extra frustrating when you have fully moved on.

Just ask Joe Alwyn, because that's the situation the actor finds himself in, according to a new interview with The Guardian.

While speaking to the outlet to promote his buzzy new drama The Brutalist, Alwyn was, predictably, hit with questions about his very famous ex, Taylor Swift. When the interviewer "put it to Alwyn that he must just want to move on," the actor, who split from Swift in early 2023 after six years of dating, pushed back, making it clear that he has moved on; it's the rest of the world that seems stuck on his past relationship.

“That’s something for other people to do,” he explained. “We’re talking about something that’s a while ago now in my life. So that’s for other people. That’s what I feel.”

Before Alwyn shut the topic down, he fielded other questions about his relationship with Swift—like "Did he fear that his relationship with Swift would overshadow his career?"

“I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control," Alwyn replied, addressing the question, but only in vague terms. “And, right from the beginning, tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course. So noise outside of that, I think I’ve done what lots of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is just try and ignore it. If you don’t, and if you let all of that other stuff in, and if it starts to affect you and your behavior, you’re living from the outside in. And then you’re pretty fucked.”

When the interviewer suggested that what Alwyn had just described "sounds exhausting," the actor insisted that he's anchored by the important people in his life.

“I have great family and friends and real things in my life; those are the things that kept me tethered to the ground,” Alwyn explained. “So I don’t know how else to say it, it’s… just in a different room.”

One thing Alwyn seemed (relatively) happy to discuss about his time with Swift was their lockdown collaborations for Folklore

“Lockdown was a whole host of surprises and that was pretty special,” Alwyn said of winning a Grammy (along with Swift and the album's other two producers, Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner) when Folklore won Album of the Year in 2021. “That was not something I would have foreseen.”

Of course, the same probably can't be said for the ongoing speculation about and public interest in his relationship with Swift, even long after its end—Alwyn will probably be facing that for a while before the world joins him in moving on.

In a nod to Alwyn's most recent film, The Brutalist, a historical drama about the life and struggles of a fictional architect, Dimoldenberg asked the actor to name his favorite piece of architecture in London. In what served as another nod to the film, Alwyn chose the Barbican, a performing arts center in London that's known for its Brutalist architecture.

“Oh good, I knew you’d say that,” Dimoldenberg, calling the pick “classic" and saying "I was going to say Barbican too," when Alwyn turned the question back on her. This prompted Alwyn to quip that they were "kindred spirits," while flashing a smile that proved that he either A) has a natural flirty charm or B) really, really likes when people like the same architecture as he does.

The flirty exchange is totally on-brand for Dimoldenberg—and any interviewee who's familiar with her popular web series, Chicken Shop Date, in which she does pretty much what the name implies and meets celebrities at chicken shops for interviews that have the casual, awkward energy and promise of going on a date with someone you're excited to talk to.

Alwyn could just be matching the fun, flirty vibe Dimoldenberg is known for, but he wouldn't be the first British actor to actually swoon a bit for her if that's not the case. At 2022's British GQ’s Men of the Year event, Andrew Garfield's first encounter with Dimoldenberg went viral when he approached her to gush, "I think you’re great.”

Dimoldenberg and Garfield's first meeting was the start of a two-year-long full-fledged flirtationship that culminated in a date for her Chicken Shop Date web series, in which Garfield suggested the pair might have real romantic potential if they ever went on a real date, sans cameras.

“Take out all the practicalities and the logic. I actually believe maybe we could’ve, without all of this,” he said, pointing to the cameras filming the "date."

“I think we should do it again, actually, and better," the actor said later in the episode, returning to the idea of going on a real date with Dimoldenberg "This should just be a rehearsal."

When asked if she thought she could ever find real romance through her show, Dimoldenberg insisted she does.

“I have said before, I don’t see why I couldn’t meet someone, like a romantic partner, via the show. Maybe some people might think that is really deluded,” she told TODAY. “I think part of me honestly believes, like, I am actually trying to meet someone and fall in love. And I think that genuine feeling is brought through within the show.”

So, if Alwyn's flirty vibe with Dimoldenberg was sincere, he should probably book an interview on her show (/prepare to fight Andrew Garfield for her love).

So, it looks like Taylor Swift's ex, Joe Alwyn, may be moving on—with Kendall Jenner.

Alywn and Jenner both attended the Fourth Annual Academy Museum Gala at Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles last weekend and Swift fans latched onto the idea that they might be coupling up after a photo of them posing together at the event started making the rounds on social media.

Vogue casually shared the picture in question as part of a gallery post of snaps from the event on Instagram (buried four picture deep in the carousel, no less). Allow us to make satisfying your (very understandable) curiosity a bit easier:

Swifties quickly congregated on TikTok and X (née Twitter) to discuss the possibility of an Alywn-Jenner relationship. And, if you're wondering why this maybe-ship warrants mass discussion among fans of a person not even allegedly in it, fans like TikTok user hankatherinee have laid it all out.

“It looks like we’re heading to a relationship between Kendall Jenner and Joe Alwyn which would drive so many people crazy,” hankatherinee said in a video explaining why an Alwyn/Jenner pairing has Swift fans on alert. “This would be huge because as you know Swifties would go crazy because we know the past between Taylor, Kim and Kanye, and Joe is Taylor’s ex, so him dating a KarJenner would be wild.”

Meanwhile, TikTok user @420blaziken13 broke down the same reasons in a more personalized way in a video with a caption describing Alwyn and Jenner interacting as "so dystopian."

Joe Alwyn's breakup with Taylor Swift luckily didn't cost him his friendship with Emma Stone—who is also super close with the popstar.

Alwyn spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the June 20 premiere for the new Yorgos Lanthimos movie, Kinds of Kindness, in which he stars alongside Stone, plus Margaret Qualley (another close pal of Swift's), Jesse Plemons, Hunter Schafer, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Mamoudou Athie, and Keke Palmer.

Reporter Rachel Smith quoted Stone as having called Alwyn "one of the sweetest people you could ever meet in the world," and asked him how he felt about his costar.

"I would say it back," he said. "I mean, yeah, I feel so lucky to be close to her, and she's the best. She's obviously wildly talented, and she's just the best."

"And the truth is, to that last point, there is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said."

According to a source who spoke to The Daily Mail back in February, Alwyn reportedly thinks it's "shady" that Swift wrote what some consider to be "a diss album" about him and their relationship.

"Joe has not said one word about Taylor or their breakup and has been completely respectful of her," the source told the publication at the time.

"It's undeniable that the name of her upcoming album is in reference to Joe's WhatsApp group chat," he added. "Taylor knocked him for the name of this when they were together. She didn't want people to think that it had anything to do with her, so when he spoke out about it, she was, of course, bothered."

Chief among the fan theories is the narrative that Joe Alwyn potentially cheated on Swift at some point in their six-year relationship.

I would like to take this moment to caveat that nobody has confirmed this to be true, and that we're all just working with the hints we have—meaning any conclusions you come to should be taken with a grain of salt.

One "clue" that there was infidelity between Alwyn and Swift is the song "Fortnight" with Post Malone, on which the popstar sings the line, "My husband is cheating, I wanna kill him."

The rest of the song sounds like it could be referring to Swift's brief situationship with Matty Healy after the breakup, but other words in the song, such as "your wife waters flowers," don't really make sense in reference to Healy. It's important to note here that Swift's lyrics are usually focused on storytelling, and don't necessarily outline exact events that have transpired in her life.

"JOE CHEATED OOOOOOOOOO ITS SO JOEVER," wrote one person.

"So Joe definitely cheated on her, right?" said another.

"yeah joe definitely cheated on taylor and nothing can change my mind. so long london said it all," commented someone else.

I personally don't see how "So Long London" could refer to cheating, but the lyrics are here if you want to go down that rabbit hole.

Meanwhile, before we skate over the word "husband in "Fortnight," another fan tweeted, "SO TAYLOR JUST CONFIRMED HER AND JOE WERE MARRIED AND HE CHEATED?!?!?!?"

Throughout their relationship, rumors that Swift and Alwyn had gotten engaged and/or married kept popping up every few months. However, Swift's publicist Tree Paine once strongly denied these allegations.

Credited with co-writing songs on both Folklore and Evermore, Alwyn has since been revealed to be the mysterious "William Bowery." That said, at a recent performance in Melbourne, Australia, Swift revealed that she was very "lonely" while writing Folklore, a subtle reference to her time with Alwyn.

“[I was] imagining that, instead of being a lonely millennial woman covered in cat hair drinking my weight in white wine, I was a ghostly Victorian lady wandering through the woods with a candle in a candlestick holder, and I wrote only on parchment with a feathered quill,” Swift said.

Neither artist has directly commented on their breakup one year ago, although plenty of sources close to the pair have spoken up on the matter. One insider claimed that it was caused by “differences in their personalities,” which became “harder to ignore after years together.”

“They had plenty in common and fell in love in a safe bubble while she was retreating from the world during Reputation,” the source told People. “Then the pandemic hit, and they were locked down together and able to continue growing their relationship in this insulated way. An insider told Entertainment Tonight that the two are just too different, “Taylor and Joe are in totally different places in their lives right now," they said. "It was more of Taylor’s decision to break up, but both of them realized that they weren’t completely right for one another. They had been together for such a long time and were spending so much time together, but their personalities were just too different. Joe is more introverted, shy, and quiet.”

Given their start in the pandemic, it apparently was difficult for the couple to transition into the public eye, especially with Swift's ever-increasing stardom. The musician has broken countless records with her Eras Tour, the theatrical release of it, and being named TIME's Person of the Year for 2023.

For context, this comes after cheating rumors have been swirling around in fan circles online for months.

At her Feb. 24 show, Swift performed two song mashups, the first consisting of "Should've Said No" and "You're Not Sorry," both of which at the very least allude to cheating.

In "You're Not Sorry," Swift sings, "You're looking so innocent, I might believe you if I didn't know," while in "Should've Said No," she sings, "You should've known that word / 'Bout what you did with her'd get back to me."

This alone was enough for fans to think their fave was communicating to them that Alwyn had cheated, with TikTok sleuths running with that theory.

So much has happened since then for Swift, including a brief fling with Matty Healy and her real-life rom-com with current boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Just last week, Kelce and Swift made our High School Musical dreams come true as they shared a kiss after the Super Bowl, where the Chiefs emerged victorious in a nail biter game.

At last, though, Alwyn broke his silence with a photo dump on his Instagram yesterday after five long months of silence.

The photo carousel had no caption, yet seemed to start a conversation; at the very least, he appeared to aim to update fans about his life lately.

Photos included a shot of the actor snapping a photo of himself in the mirror, Alwyn photobombing Brian Cox at a pre-BAFTA party, a throwback to his childhood, and more.

We already know that the title The Tortured Poets Department is a thinly veiled reference to Swift's ex Joe Alwyn, who once said he and two other actors were in a WhatsApp group named the "tortured man club." (Sorry, but I'm trying so hard not to roll my eyes right now.......)

But, of course, that's not all: The album's planned release date, April 19, is another obvious reference to Alwyn, because eager fans noticed on April 19, 2023 that some of Swift's closest friends and family members all unfollowed Alwyn that day (a couple weeks after their breakup became public). Swift knows that fans worked this out, and therefore this is her way of speaking to them (us) directly.

A dedicated Swiftie made a TikTok about all of this in which they explained everything there is to know about "the great unfollowing of Joe Alwyn," including that all these unfollows happened after Swift had dinner with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds and Swift's brother Austin were among the people to unfollow Alwyn that day.

Amid all this *evidence*, Alwyn is reportedly not very happy with his ex. According to one source, he thinks that if this turns out to be a "diss album," that it's "shady" of Swift.

But as one Twitter user put it, "imagine telling Taylor Swift, the woman who wrote Red about a 3 month relationship, to shut up about a 6 year relationship..."

"Joe has not said one word about Taylor or their breakup and has been completely respectful of her," the source recently told the publication.

"It's undeniable that the name of her upcoming album is in reference to Joe's WhatsApp group chat," he added. "Taylor knocked him for the name of this when they were together. She didn't want people to think that it had anything to do with her, so when he spoke out about it, she was, of course, bothered."

After winning her 13th Grammy during the  66th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 4, Swift announced she would be releasing a new album titled The Tortured Poet’s Department on April 19.

The name of the album is eerily familiar to the alleged name of a group chat Alwyn was said to be part of—the “Tortured Man Club Group Chat.”

The insider said that while all of Swift's detailed hints certainly point to a probable diss album, "Joe has no reason to believe yet that she is going to diss him or their relationship."

'She writes about her past using code and points of reference. It may just be that she is reflecting on their time together and he is hoping it is nothing more," the source continued. "If it is a diss album, that is shady. He helped her with song writing on her past album so it will really come as a shock to him if she talks about their breakup, as it is something he has not spoken of at all."

These poignant lyrics took on a new meaning after Swift announced the album first on the Grammys stage and then via instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter.

In both posts, Swift shares what are presumably lyrics to her soon-to-be-released songs, including one eyebrow-raising line in particular: "Muses acquired like bruises."

Swift and Alwyn broke up in early 2023 after six years of dating, according to Entertainment Tonight who was the first to report the former couple's split.

A source later told People at the time that Swift and Alwyn ultimately split due to "differences in their personalities."

WITH THAT SAID, I would like to point out that Swift became a lot more private after her public fallout with Kanye West in 2016, and as far as we know, she didn't start going out with Alwyn until 2017. Still, the fact that she specifically called out the "six years" piece kind of points to the fact that she wanted to sort of call Alwyn out.

Commenting on this specific quote, one Twitter user said, "how often do you want to end joe alwyn in one week?

Elsewhere, Swift appeared to compare her relationship with Alwyn (discreet, private) unfavorably to her new relationship with Travis Kelce (public, loud).

Paine just took to Twitter to counter claims made by gossip account DeuxMoi that Swift had secretly married Joe Alwyn, or at least had some sort of ceremony to cement their love sometime. Rumors of a secret ceremony kept popping up time and time again over the course of their six-year relationship.

This comes off the heels of fans learning Swift wrote heartbreaking song "You're Losing Me" over a year before her official breakup with Alwyn, which has had people wondering what the actual timeline of the relationship looked like.

DeuxMoi took to Instagram Stories to share a message they received from a follower, who wrote, "I think Swifties need a reminder that just because Taylor wrote a sad song about Joe in Dec 21 doesn't mean they broke up around that time OR that she was unhappy for all of 2022/23. Anyone who has been in a long term relationship will tell you there are highs and lows."

They went on to remind fans that Swift was spotted with Alwyn on several occasions in 2022 and early 2023, and that her song "Glitch" makes a reference to "2,190 days" of relationship, which equals to six years.

The anonymous person went on to say, "Even YOU, DeuxMoi, is now trying to claim you thought they were on a break in 2023 when you were maintaining they were secretly married up until after they broke up!!"

Commenting on this message, DeuxMoi wrote, "She DID have a ceremony in either 2020 or 2021 in the UK and it was described to me as a 'marriage' by more than one person. It was NEVER made legal.

As you may or may not know, the singer released her "From the Vault" track "You're Losing Me" on Spotify yesterday to celebrate being named Global Top Artist for 2023 on the streaming platform.

This song is widely believed to be about the breakdown of her relationship with Joe Alwyn, whom she dated for six years until their breakup in April.

But now, Swift's longtime collaborator and friend Jack Antonoff—who worked with her on "You're Losing Me"—has decided to wreak havoc on the internet by divulging in an Instagram Story that Swift had written the track in DECEMBER 2021, AKA over a full year before she and Alwyn officially broke up.

Alongside a photo of Swift wearing brown and eating a lil' snack at a kitchen island, Antonoff wrote, "you're losing me is out today. a very special track from the midnights sessions that's finally steaming! written and recorded at home on 12/5/21 right after taylor ate these raisins"

So, um, yeah. If you're having a hard time understanding what this new information means to people, I'll let the people tell you in their own words.

"I love how Jack Antonoff's post was all 'Yay YLM is out and oh look here's Taylor eating raisins how quirky! Also isnt it crazy how SHE LITERALLY WAS DATING A LOSER AND BROKE UP WITH HIM MENTALLY 2 YEARS BEFORE THEIR ACTUAL BREAK UP AHAHAHA- anyway stream the song!'" tweeted one person.

You're Losing Me is believed to be Swift's point of view in her breakup with British actor Joe Alwyn. The pair dated for six years, first in secret and then publicly, with the relationship ending in April.

The song discusses the pain of watching a relationship unravel and seeing your partner distance themselves from you. The person is left with the difficult task of ending a relationship that already feels over, yet still needs that final conversation.

I don't know what that one's about: Alwyn is 32, and Swift is 33, but surely that's nothing worth analyzing.

The actor disabled the comments on the post, which seems wise when you consider the lengths some fandoms are willing to go to in order to swarm those who they believe have hurt their faves—Swifties being number one on that front.

While onstage on July 29 in Santa Clara, California, she “subtly revealed how she was feeling about her past relationships and breakups,” the outlet reports. While performing the song “All of the Girls You Loved Before,” Swift sang the lyrics “Fake love out on the town / Cryin’ in the bathroom for some dude / Whose name I cannot remember now.” 

“As she crooned the ‘name I cannot remember’ lyrics, Swift shook her head and gave a brief wink,” Us Weekly writes. Although Swift “did not further reveal what the wink or the lyric represented,” social media went wild, the outlet reports.

At every concert on the Eras tour, Swift brings out surprise songs, and “All of the Girls You Loved Before” was on deck for Saturday. Its lyrics led many fans to speculate it was dedicated to Swift’s most recent long-term boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn, whose relationship with Swift ended in April after six years together. “After noticing Swift’s wink on Saturday, fans thought she was hinting that she has completely moved on” from Alwyn, Us Weekly writes. 

“Damn it’s over [for real],” a fan tweeted Saturday. Another fan added “ITS JOEVER.”

But other astute Swifties pointed out that the lyric in question was probably not about Alwyn, as the track was originally laid down in 2019—long before there were any noticeable issues with Alwyn. Instead, fans speculated that it was, in fact, ex Jake Gyllenhaal that was the more likely subject.

Swift performed two shows in Santa Clara over the weekend, and a fireworks display erupted in the middle of her “Enchanted” performance. “You know why I did that?” Swift asked the crowd. “Because I’m mayor.” (Swift was given the honorary title of mayor of Santa Clara while her Eras tour was in town.) A wink and fireworks? Santa Clara surely got a show.

Taylor Swift, in a track called “You’re Losing Me”—released on the deluxe version of Midnights—might have hinted at the reasons behind her split from Joe Alwyn, Us Weekly reports. Swift and Alwyn broke up last month after six years together, and Swift has seemingly already moved on with fellow singer Matty Healy.

The lyrics to the new song say, in part, “You say, ‘I don’t understand’ and I say, ‘I know you don’t’ / We thought a cure would come through in time / Now, I fear it won’t,” Swift sings in the ballad’s first verse, “seemingly referring to a breakdown in communication in her relationship,” Us Weekly reports. “Remember lookin’ at this room, we loved it ‘cause of the light / Now, I just sit in the dark and wonder if it’s time.” 

By the chorus, Swift hints that her “heart won’t start anymore” for her lover, “as a real heartbeat can be heard thumping in the background,” the outlet writes.

The second verse continues “I glared at you with storms in my eyes / How can you say that you love someone you can’t tell is dying? / I sent you signals and bit my nails down to the quick / My face was gray, but you wouldn’t admit that we were sick.”

The bridge of the song—“a notoriously poignant part in any of Swift’s music,” Us Weekly reports—continues “I gave you all my best of me, my endless empathy / And all I did was bleed as I tried to be the bravest soldier / Fighting in only your army / The front lines don’t you ignore me / I’m the best thing at this party.” Then comes what Us Weekly calls “the track’s most devastating lyric”: “And I wouldn’t marry me either / Pathological people pleaser / Who only wanted you to see her / And I’m fading thinking / Do something, babe, say something / Lose something, babe, risk something / Choose something, babe, I got nothing to believe, unless you’re choosing me.”

While Swift hasn’t confirmed who the song is about, it comes a month after a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the perils of celebrity contributed to the end of her relationship with Alwyn. “Joe is very shy and never liked all of the attention that came with dating one of the most popular singers in the world,” the insider says, noting that the actor “didn’t like having to be on all the time.” 

Swift, for her part, “is handling the breakup really well and she’s feeling very optimistic about her future,” the source says. “She truly believes whatever is meant to be, will be, and knows everything happens for a reason.”

In addition to “You’re Losing Me,” the deluxe version of Midnights includes a remix of her song “Karma” featuring Ice Spice, “Hits Different” (a song previously only available on vinyl), and a new version of “Snow on the Beach” with Lana Del Rey. 

Joe Alwyn has laid low since his breakup with Taylor Swift first became public a few weeks ago, but the Conversations With Friends actor has finally broken cover this week.

On Monday, Alwyn attended a dinner hosted by designer label Celine's image director Hedi Slimane at Cannes' Eden Roc, as part of the 2023 Film Festival. Other famous attendees included Kaia Gerber, Future and Chiara Mastroianni.

Since the breakup, Swift has seemingly moved on with The 1975's controversial frontman Matty Healy, though neither has publicly confirmed the dating rumors.

Still, during one of her recent Eras tour dates, the Midnights singer told the crowd, "I kind of just feel like telling you, I’ve just never been this happy in my life. In all aspects of my life. Last night, while onstage in Boston supporting her Eras tour, Taylor Swift said “I’ve just never been this happy in my life”—which is exactly what we want to hear, of course, but perhaps a bit surprising to some considering she is on the heels of the demise of a six-year relationship.

Swift opened up to the crowd before launching into one of her surprise songs on her setlist, a song that, as she put it, “brings me a lot of happy memories.” (The song, “Question…?” off of her latest album Midnights is an interesting choice to be described that way, considering that it’s about a breakup, too.) Swift thanked her fans for being there for her, saying “I kind of just feel like telling you, I’ve just never been this happy in my life. In all aspects of my life. Ever. And I just want to thank you for being a part of that. It’s not just the tour. I just sort of feel like my life finally feels like it makes sense.” 

Swift and actor Joe Alwyn split last month, and she’s already linked with singer Matty Healy—and, while neither Swift nor Healy have confirmed they’re dating, he’s been seen at several of her shows, and they’ve been seen holding hands. According to Page Six, the extremely swift (see what we did there) rebound after six years (not an insignificant amount of time) has made Alwyn “feel slighted and distraught” over the “budding romance” between Swift and Healy.

According to The Daily Mail, Alwyn is upset because he put his trust in his ex when she told him that she and Healy were just friends as they worked together on the aforementioned Midnights, which came out last October. 

“Joe was aware that Taylor and Matt were making music together and collaborating,” an insider says. “She told him that they had become friends, and he trusted her.” The source also stressed that there was no “overlap” in the two relationships—but they certainly seem to bookend one another, with less than a month between the two relationships.

While Swift has been busy on tour, Alwyn too has been “doing his best to keep busy and focus on himself,” the source says.

Swift and Healy have known one another since 2014, and sources have claimed that the two are already “madly in love”—despite only dating for a few weeks.

“It’s super early days, but it feels right,” the insider says. “They first dated, very briefly, almost 10 years ago, but the timings just didn’t work out.”

Taylor Swift is holding up OK—or so she told one fan, at least.

As you may know, the singer and her partner of six years, Joe Alwyn, recently broke up.

That means that Swift is having to perform her much anticipated (and physically demanding) "Eras" tour while navigating the emotional aftermath of a breakup.

One TikTok user shared a sweet moment when the superstar reassured a fan that she's doing alright. In the video, Swift can be seen directing a thumbs up gesture at the crowd while performing "Delicate," from the album Reputation.

This song is widely thought to be about Alwyn, whom she'd recently started dating when that album came out.

The TikTok user overlaid the video with the words, "I don’t think I’ll ever get over the fact someone held up a sign 'you ok?' And taylor responding with a [thumbs up]"

So Swift was presumably telling the audience that she's OK, even though she's probably quite sad, though some viewers took to the comments to debate whether the gesture was ironic or not.

Beyond simply expressing concern for Swift's welfare, the sign was also a clever reference to two of her songs.

First, in the video for "You Belong With Me," Swift's character holds up a sign saying, "You OK?" towards her neighbor, whom she loves.

And second, but less relevantly in this instance, in the song "You Need to Calm Down," Swift sings the line, "Hey, are you OK?" directed at homophobes.

Though the singer has yet to publicly address the breakup, she broke her social media silence by posting about her three nights in Tampa. She wrote on Instagram, "Still buzzing from those 3 shows in Tampa!!! Thank you to the unforgettably epic crowds and to @aarondessner for coming out to play twice with me, we’ve been dreaming about that for so long!! So grateful for the memories we’re making on this tour"

Taylor Swift fans' world came violently crashing down this weekend when reports emerged that the Midnights singer and her partner Joe Alwyn had broken up. The two had been together for six years.

A source told Entertainment Tonight—which first delivered the disappointing news—that their separation had not been "dramatic" and that they had ended things on good terms.

"The relationship had just run its course," the source said. "It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows."

Fans were previously wondering whether Jaylor/Toe (I can't decide which is worse) had broken up because Alwyn didn't attend an Eras Tour date, though the official line had been that he was busy with his own projects.

A source even told People on March 22, "Joe will travel with her when he can. They are great together. Joe is super supportive of her career." Well if they're so great together, why aren't they together anymore, huh, Anonymous Source Person???? Everything is a lie.

Anyway, as I try to collect myself to the best of my ability, here are some of the things we know so far—which is to say, not a whole lot that has been confirmed.

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have reportedly broken up after six years together. However, neither party has officially confirmed the reports, nor directly addressed them.

When

A source told People that the two celebs broke up a "few weeks ago." This could indicate that the breakup happened prior to the singer's concert tour beginning on March 17. Logistically, this would make sense, too. Again, none of this has been confirmed, and some people believe the breakup happened during the tour.

Why

Since nobody involved in the actual breakup has spoken out about it, we of course don't know why it happened. But anonymous sources who speak with authority (whether justified or not) have theories for us.

"They've had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together," a source told People, adding that "ultimately" the two "weren't the right fit for one another."

They added, "They had plenty in common and fell in love in a safe bubble while she was retreating from the world during Reputation. Then the pandemic hit, and they were locked down together and able to continue growing their relationship in this insulated way. But he didn't really 'know' her yet outside of that bubble."

For the insider, Alwyn wasn't comfortable with the level of attention Swift received from fans.

What else?

Swift hasn't directly addressed the breakup, but as ever with the singer, she has appeared to make concert setlist decisions based on her state of mind.

For example, per Page Six, she replaced "Invisible String"—a love song believed to be about Alwyn—with "The 1," which goes, "But it would've been fun / If you would've been the one." This was on March 31 in Arlington, Texas.

During that same show, People reports that Swift chose two breakup songs as her surprise tracks: "Death by a Thousand Cuts" and "Clean."

Fans also noticed Swift getting emotional during a rendition of "Champagne Problems" during another tour date.

What now?

It sounds like both parties felt this breakup was the right decision for them. "Taylor didn't see them working out in the long run," People's source said.

"They are friendly. She doesn't have anything bad to say about Joe. They just grew apart. Taylor is staying very focused on her tour right now."

Though fans have all sorts of theories about Swift dating new people, it looks like she's just enjoying life, after she appeared out in New York City with friends Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley. Yesterday was the only Saturday that Taylor Swift wasn’t performing to crowds across the country from March 17 to August 9—but she still made headlines. Seven shows into her Eras tour, news broke yesterday that Swift and her boyfriend of six years, Joe Alwyn, had called it quits. Alwyn, People reports, hasn’t been seen at any of Swift’s shows on the tour thus far.

The couple was famously private since their relationship began in 2016. Alwyn, a British actor who has also co-written or co-produced 10 songs of Swift’s during the course of their relationship, told WSJ. Magazine of engagement rumors that dogged the couple in recent years “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins. I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.” In another interview, this time with British Vogue, Alwyn said “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people…but I really prefer to talk about work.”

A source previously said that, to Swift, Alwyn was “her rock. Their relationship is mature and wonderful.”

According to Entertainment Tonight—which first broke the story—the split happened a few weeks ago and was amicable and “not dramatic.”

“The relationship had just run its course,” a source told the outlet. “It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows.”

Swift will next perform a three-show run in Tampa on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

She likes shiny things, but would she marry him with paper rings? I don't know, and it's not up to me to say.

Once again, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have sparked engagement rumors after they took a "romantic" trip to Cornwall, southwest England last month. Several sources appeared to confirm the news to Life&Style, but fans have been quick to point out that it's far from the first time the couple has been "reportedly engaged," and that we should let Swift tell us if and when she's ready (if it's even true in the first place).

Others were (tongue-in-cheekly) upset by the rumors. "taylor swift isn’t engaged to joe alwyn because she’s literally my wife and that’s against the law?" another fan tweeted.

Taylor Swift took home Album of the Year for 2020's folklore during Sunday's 63rd Annual Grammy Awards—making history as the first female to win the honor three times. During her acceptance speech, alongside collaborators Laura Sisk, Jack Antonoff, and Aaron Dessner, Swift thanked longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

"[He] is the first person who I play every new song I write," Swift said, "and I had the best time writing songs with you in quarantine."

In November 2020, the singer explained just how crucial Alwyn was in the process of her eighth studio album. In Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, Swift confirmed fan theories that "William Bowery," the songwriter credited on "betty" and "exile" alongside Swift, was, in fact, Alwyn.

"I've written so many songs from a female's perspective of wanting a male apology that we decided to make it from a teenage boy's perspective apologizing after he loses the love of his life because he's been foolish."

"exile," which features Bon Iver, benefited enormously from Alwyn's prowess on the piano, Swift shared. "Joe plays piano beautifully and he's always just playing and making things up and kinda just creating things," she said. "And 'exile' was crazy because Joe had written the entire piano part."

In her Instagram post announcing the then-impending release of folklore, Swift named four collaborators on the album, who she called her "musical heroes": The National's Aaron Dessner, Bon Iver, William Bowery, and Bleachers' Jack Antonoff. Dessner, Bon Iver, and Antonoff all have sizeable discographies and an awful lot of Google results to their name, but before the album's release, there was next to no trace of Bowery.

Swifties quickly pointed out that one of Swift and Alwyn's first encounters was at the Bowery Hotel in New York City, where they saw a Kings of Leon concert. What's more, the mysterious musician co-wrote two songs on folklore: "Exile" and "Betty," as the Independent reports. And according to E!, Joe Alwyn's mother is called Elizabeth—a name frequently shortened to Betty. Did Swifties crack the case? Is Joe Alwyn a songwriter on the side? Before flying across the pond, the 29-year-old singer hosted a Friendsgiving with Gigi Hadid, Queer Eye's Antoni Porowski, Martha Hunt, and other friends. "It's an annual tradition for Taylor to get together with close friends and do this," a source told E! News. "Many have been at her gathering in years past. This year was intimate and casual, but they all had a great time." Hunt posted a photo of the two hugging on Instagram, making us wish we all could've caught an invite to the star-studded Friendsgiving.

As for Swift and Alwyn, they've been together for about three years now, and T. Swift has her secret traveling plans down to a science. The 28-year-old star looked radiant in her customized Louis Vuitton gown, which was originally just a sheer jacket from the resort 2019 collection. To keep things modest on the red carpet, Stone wore nude undergarments (or perhaps a bodysuit?) under the sheer ensemble and finished the look with a pair of metallic strappy heels. She swept her hair up and off her shoulders, opting for some loose waves to frame her face.

Stone's an ambassador for Louis Vuitton, first repping their handbags, and now, most recently, appearing in the luxury house's first fragrance film campaign. It's no surprise then that the actress chose to wear the label to one of the biggest film festivals of the year. (The VFF is considered one of the "big threes," alongside the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival.)

Taylor Swift just dropped a second music video for her single "Delicate" and although it's super different from the first, it still features some dancing. Because Swift is all about the dance, these days.

The vertical video, which dropped exclusively on Spotify, and you can watch in full on the service, seems to be a personal message to Swift's boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. From blowing kisses to the camera, to pointing out the necklace featuring his initials, the one-take video plays like a love letter.

It's satisfying to have a quieter take on the song, and when viewed alongside the first, way more dramatic, music video, it feels much more intimate and honest.

Swift's move to give Spotify a video exclusive shows that the singer is back on good terms with the streaming service. The "Look What You Made Me Do" single famously boycotted Spotify over royalties, but ended her feud in June 2017. The timing of Swift's return to the streaming giant seemed suspicious to many, as it happened to coincide with the release of Katy Perry's new album, and totally eclipsed her rival.

Swift's first video for "Delicate" grabbed everyone's attention for its elaborate dance routine. In the mini movie, Swift seemed to berate her life as an uber rich, famous person, as she was surrounded by a team of security guards that followed her every move, and she was attacked by a crazed fan in a theater.

Together, the pair of music videos give us a bigger insight into the meaning of the song, and Swift's relationship with boyfriend, Alwyn.

According to fans who have dissected the lyrics (by "fans" we mean us), "Delicate" is about Taylor's relationship with Joe Alwyn. For example, take the lyrics "Dark jeans and your Nikes, look at you / Oh damn, never seen that color blue." Is it a coincidence that Joe's been papped in dark jeans and Nikes, and that he has extremely blue eyes? We think not.

The video itself doesn't seem to be about Joe specifically (it mostly involves Taylor trying to make herself seen in a seemingly vapid world), HOWEVER there is a major Joe-shaped easter egg hidden for fans—namely, the deli behind Taylor while she's dancing.

JOE'S DELI, GUYS! Oh, and meanwhile there's this person on Twitter who thinks Joe Alywn himself is the person Taylor smiles at towards the end of the video, but take this one with a grain of salt.

The two were photographed in Malibu on a hike, like normals. This is the first time they've been seen together since December when they were "spotted hand in hand," according to E! News.

Swift wore shorts and a tank, for what was reportedly a 90-minute hike, while Alwyn chose the slightly less practical jeans and a T-shirt combo. I'd call this out for being odd (wasn't he hot? don't jeans chafe?), but once, my boyfriend wore a fancy button-down shirt when we went on a hike on an 80-degree day and he didn't sweat one drop. Meanwhile, I got a supreme sunburn in my weather-appropriate workout top so...who am I to judge?!

Anyway, Swift and her British beau didn't appear to be troubled by their athletic-wear (or lack thereof). According to an onlooker they had a grand old time: "They appeared very comfortable in one another's company and seemed to be enjoying their time together—despite having a bodyguard following their every move," the source said. "They were deep in conversation for most of the hike and their attention was focused solely on one another."

Two appeared to be in a "good mood and seemed very relaxed," the source continued. Though I have a feeling being followed by the paparazzi during a hike didn't help the mood.

Taylor Swift just performed at the London Jingle Ball (so many Jingle Balls, so little time, tbh) and who was in the crowd? None other than Joe Alwyn, who played the part of Instagram Boyfriend and was spotted filming her entire set.

"Dress," which appears to literally be about having sex with Joe Alwyn. And sex with Joe Alwyn is apparently pretty good, because the song comes complete with orgasm sounds.

Taylor Swift dropped her new track "Gorgeous" last night, and naturally, the internet has been abuzz. Twitter and Tumblr are full of opinions, theories, and corrections from the 300 chosen souls who attended the star's Secret Sessions and ~know things~. But what (or who) is the song about? Let's dive right in.

Let's not bury the lead here: It's about Taylor's boyfriend Joe Alwyn. She told fans as much at the Secret Sessions, and gave them explicit instructions to correct any internet trolls who suggested it was about anyone else.

This is significant because Taylor almost never explicitly confirms the subjects of her songs. Though, that said, she hasn't publicly confirmed it. By getting her Secret Sessions Superfans to do it for her, she maintains a little mystery, so there's that.

Taylor loves to slip in little clues about her songs' subjects, whether it's references to their zodiac signs, hair or, in this case, their hypnotizing blue eyes.

The lyric: "Ocean blue eyes looking in mine—I feel like I might sink and drown and die."

And the evidence:

Even the kind of insulting parts of the song point to Joe, like, "You should take it as a compliment that I got drunk and made fun of the way you talk."

Joe's British, so we can assume that a tipsy Taylor did a bad English accent early in their courtship.

But "Gorgeous" isn't just a send up to a new love—it's also a song about coveting what you don't have while you have someone else.

"And I got a boyfriend, he's older than us," she sings. This could be a reference to either of the men Taylor was linked to pre-Joe (AKA Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston), both of whom are older than her.

But then there's this line: "He's in the club doing I don't know what." This seems to point directly at Harris, since he's is a world famous DJ and Hiddleston is not particularly known for his clubbing.

But that timeline. That timeline has fans stumped.

March 6, 2015 - June 1, 2016: Taylor and Calvin date.

June 15, 2016 - September 6, 2016: Taylor and Tom date.

At the Secret Sessions, Taylor referred to Joe as her boyfriend of a year, implying they have been together since October 2016.

So, was Taylor lusting over Joe when she was still with Calvin? Was the Hiddleswift relationship just to make Joe jealous? Does Tom Hiddleston frequent clubs, doing things Taylor Swift doesn't know about? There are so. Many. Questions.

One of the biggest mysteries of the song was also revealed at the Secret Sessions, but apparently this one was intended to stay a secret. In the age of the internet though, that was never going to happen. The little girl voice heard at the beginning of the song is none other than Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' daughter (the couple is good friends with Taylor).

That's at least one mystery solved.

Taylor Swift's new song is speculated to be at least partially be inspired by either her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles or her current boyfriend Joe Alwyn, and people who are firmly on Team Styles should probably put their theories on a box to the left.

While Taylor hasn't spoken out directly about about the meaning of her song (in fact, she hasn't spoken out whatsoever since making her triumphant return to the spotlight), she has been active on Tumblr, surreptitiously liking posts including the below—in which a fan shared a break down all the Joe Alwyn references in the "...Ready for It" lyrics.

While anyone who uses Twitter knows that likes don't necessarily mean endorsements, we're going to go ahead and read WAY into the fact that Taylor liked this post: it's full of evidence that the song is about Joe, and more than possible that Tay's simple "like" is a way of validating this "fan theory" without speaking out directly.
