It’s like July grew wings and flew away because somehow, we have arrived at the end of the month. While this does, sadly (or thankfully, for some of us), mean that summer is coming to an end, it also means we have quite a few new beauty launches to talk about.

​July saw the release of one of my favorite brow products ever, which is a bold claim, considering I’ve been obsessed with makeup for well over 15 years now. Still, I fully stand by it because this product is simply one of the easiest-to-use and well-executed beauty products I have ever used. On the fragrance side of things, one of my favorite influencers, Funmi Monet, launched her highly anticipated brand, Influxious, to rave reviews and an almost instant sell-out of inventory. Thankfully, my favorite from the line is still in stock on the brand’s website, so more on that to come. Westman Atelier makes one of the best luxury highlighters on the market, and a recent addition to the line reminded me once more why I’m so obsessed with the formula.

Over the years, there was nothing (I mean nothing!) that could come between me and my yearly lip filler appointment. But when I decided to break up with injectables at 30, I needed another way to achieve the fuller, more defined pout I’d grown accustomed to. Enter: lip contouring. With the right products and a few makeup artist-approved techniques, I found I could recreate the look—sans any needles.

While lip filler will likely always be in high demand, the best lip contours come pretty close to creating the illusion of large, luscious lips. In fact, these liners, creams, crayons and sticks can completely “change the shape of the lip to appear fuller or more symmetrical,” according to celebrity makeup artist and former L’Oréal Paris Makeup Director, Tobi Henney.

I know what you’re thinking: Isn’t this just lip liner? The short answer: no. Traditional lip liner is typically chosen to match your natural lip color or lipstick, while lip contouring relies on cool-toned brown shades that mimic natural shadows to make lips look bigger. That’s why Henney recommends choosing a cool brown for fair skin or a neutral brown for medium-to-deep skin tones, then concentrating the product on the cupid’s bow and the center of the bottom lip.

Pucker Up

When I first started experimenting with lip contouring, pencils were the easiest place to start. The two ahead offer the most control, making it simple to sketch soft, shadow-like lines that mimic naturally fuller lips.

Kiss and Tell

If I’m after a softer, more diffused lip contour, I always reach for these two cream formulas. Their blendable textures melt into the lips for subtle, shadow-like definition that’s incredibly forgiving (and nearly impossible to overdo).

Skip the Syringe

Think of the two lip crayons below as the happy medium between lipstick and liner. Their chunky shape makes them easy to swipe on in seconds, while their creamy formulas deliver more pigment and coverage than a traditional pencil, making them perfect for lip contouring.

Perfect the Pout

Eyeliner and I have always had a tricky relationship. Not only am I a chronic dry eye sufferer, which means the wrong product will turn the white of my eyes bloodshot and feel like sandpaper got stuck in the whites of my eyes, but I am also half blind, so applying eyeliner to my left eye takes some major skill and patience. I’ve learned some tricks of the trade over the years: have Lumify on hand to counteract the redness, make sure I’m working with a creamy formula that doesn’t require a perfect wing, and perhaps most importantly, be hyper-vigilant about the products I choose to use so close to my eyes.

I’ve found a few wins throughout the years—Victoria Beckham Beauty’s Satin Kajal Eyeliner and Sarah Creal’s Hypoallergenic Long-Wear Eyeliner. But a new formula hasn’t won me over in a minute; well, until Ilia’s Thru Line Waterproof Eyeliner landed on my desk. The range, which includes 10 different shades, launches today, July 28, and is a huge win for sensitive-eye girlies like myself. What’s Different About the Ilia Thru Line Waterproof Eyeliner Formula?

I’ve tried hundreds of eyeliners over the years, and have found that there’s a very fine line between a creamy formula and a too-creamy formula. The former allows for quick blending but dries down fairly quickly, while the latter is very play-friendly but feels a bit more like a shadow than liner. This particular product falls into the former category—it dries completely in about 30 seconds and then doesn't budge. It contains omega fatty acids, which add a moisturizing factor that prevents irritation on the lid; avocado oil-coated pigments, which provide a creamy glide; and color-lock film formers, which provide waterproof wear.

As for the shades? There are 10 to choose from: five matte, five shimmer. My personal favorites are flourish, a sparkly copper brown, portrait, an antique gold shimmer, and dash, a matte indigo blue.

How Do I Apply the Ilia Thru Line Waterproof Eyeliner Formula?

For the record: I can’t do a wing to save my life. My vibe is much more blended and messy around the lash line. I always do my eyeliner before mascara, just in case I mess anything up. Make sure the tip is fresh, especially if you’ll be applying it to the waterline. Then grab a small brush to diffuse the liner and achieve a smoky effect. I use very small, quick strokes from my inner corner to the outer corner and work my way across my upper and lower lash line. From there, I’ll quickly diffuse, add more pigment where needed, and move over to the second eye.

Is the Ilia Thru Line Waterproof Eyeliner Worth It?

For reference, whenever I apply eyeliner this close to my eyes, I’m a bloodshot mess. I won’t sit here and say my eyes were pearly white, but they were about 10 times less irritated than usual. The formula didn’t make my eyes water or send little pigment flakes into the whites of my eyes. I could very clearly tell that an ophthalmologist familiar with the pain point of having sensitive eyes was heavily involved in the formulation.

The pigment payoff does require a bit of pressure, particularly with the shimmery shades. That being said, once it’s on the skin, it’s not budging. It did not drip, drag, or fade throughout an eight-hour day. And most importantly, I never look like a sleep-deprived, allergy-ridden disaster after wearing it for eight hours, which is a huge win in my book.

Although I work in the media sector, it’s rather rare that I get excited to meet a celebrity. All that nonchalance went out the window when I met Hilary Duff for the first time. My skin runs naturally red, so my makeup goal is always the same: even it out without pissing it off more. The problem isn’t necessarily finding enough coverage—it’s finding something that tones down the redness without looking heavy, clinging to dry patches, or making my skin feel suffocated by the end of the day. This is the brand’s first full skincare-to-makeup lineup created specifically for sensitive and reactive skin, with formulas designed to soothe visible irritation and support the skin barrier. The four-piece collection starts with a gentle cream cleanser that removes dirt and makeup without being too rough, followed by a rich repair cream meant to restore moisture to the barrier and calm irritation. The skincare is a natural fit for the concept, but the makeup is what really caught my attention.

The two products I was most interested in were the makeup: the Daily Calm Makeup Balm and the Lip + Cheek Color, both of which promised to bring that same barrier-minded approach into my glam routine. The Daily Calm Makeup Balm gives skin a light veil of coverage that can be layered where needed, while the Lip + Cheek Color leaves behind an easy wash of pigment in a comforting balm texture.

What makes the collection feel genuinely fresh is that the makeup isn’t just sitting on top of sensitive skin and covering the evidence—it’s meant to keep supporting the barrier while you wear it. From the first swipe of foundation to the final dab of color, the idea is essentially a soothing hug for reactive skin that lasts all day. Here's my review of the brand-new Clinique makeup balms.

How Many Shades Does the Daily Calm Balm Cream Foundation Come In?

The Makeup Balm comes in eight flexible shades, and I wear Light Medium 3 when I’m at my summer color. Because the coverage is sheer and the balm melts into the skin, there’s more wiggle room with the match than there would be with a traditional medium- or full-coverage foundation. It still gives me enough tint to take down my redness, but eight shades is a fairly tight lineup, and “flexible” can only stretch so far—especially at the deeper end of the range. Something to keep in mind: the foundation color looks much darker in person, so be wary when choosing your shade.

How Many Shades Does the Clinique Daily Calm Lip and Cheek Cream Come In?

The Lip + Cheek Color comes in six options: five tinted shades and Whisper, a completely translucent balm. Since the pigment is sheer and buildable, the colors adapt to the skin. Whisper is the sleeper hit for me: tapped onto the high points of the cheeks, it creates that glossy, editorial highlight that looks very glass-skin-esque. It’s the finishing touch for days when I want my skin to look healthy, and I'm not wearing much makeup. Of the tinted shades, my favorites are Tender Heart and Sweet Nectar—both give my lips and cheeks an easy flush. I am definitely a fan of using it as a blush, but personally, I love it for my lips most.

What Makes the Clinique Daily Calm Line Different?

All the Daily Calm line formulas center on Uniflavon, Clinique’s proprietary blend of Chinese skullcap root and moso bamboo leaf extracts. Chinese skullcap root helps calm the visible redness and irritation that come with sensitive skin, while moso bamboo leaf provides antioxidant support against the everyday stressors that wreak havoc on the skin barrier.

From there, the two makeup formulas go in slightly different directions. The Makeup Balm pairs Uniflavon with soothing magnolia, glycerin, and sodium hyaluronate, all suspended in a silicone-and-wax base that melts over dry patches and creates that smooth, blurred finish. The Lip + Cheek Color is more cushy and emollient, with hyaluronic acid, olive-derived moisturizers, and vitamin E to keep it comfortable on both areas of the face.

How Should I Apply Clinique's Daily Calm Line?

Neither formula is made for a full-glam, high-coverage makeup day, which normally wouldn’t be my first choice—I like coverage. But when I use the Daily Calm lineup together, my skin looks less flushed and feels more settled before I even get to the makeup, so I don’t feel like I need to cover quite as much. The Makeup Balm is very lightweight, but it gives more coverage than you’d expect from something this sheer. It tones down my redness beautifully, and my skin feels like it can breathe.

I apply both formulas with my fingers, per the directions—the warmth helps melt the balms into the skin—then quickly go over it with a fluffy brush to make sure everything looks seamless down the neck. The Lip + Cheek Color starts off subtle, but it builds easily when I want more pigment. The final effect is super fresh and glowy—a perfect combination for summer.

Is the Clinique Daily Calm Makeup Collection Worth It?

For quite some time, Black Honey has felt like Clinique’s undisputed main character—and for good reason. It’s one of those rare products that still feels relevant decades later. But Daily Calm is the first launch in a while that, in my opinion, could give the brand another signature. The concept is smart, and the formulas feel genuinely considered.

This isn’t the collection I’d reach for when I have an event or need to glam it up, but that’s also not the point. It’s for the days when I want my redness toned down, my skin to look healthy, and everything underneath to feel calm and comfortable. Clinique took its sensitive-skin authority and extended it into makeup—and the result is a winning idea with genuinely great products behind it.

Not many people can claim to still be at the top of their career after decades in the entertainment industry, but Christina Aguilera is one of the few who can. The Dirrty singer has spent decades in the spotlight as a vocalist, actor, and entrepreneur, and if you’ve long been a fan, you’d know that many of her eras are marked by some rather dramatic hair changes.

​While her signature color was (and remains) blonde, the singer has been seen in everything from jet black to bright red over the years, even playing with different lengths and haircut styles in the process. Aguilera’s hair has gone through its own journey throughout her career, which is why she says partnering with Nexxus made so much sense.

"I’m both a shower person and a bath person. So for the latter, I love using those little shower scent diffusers, and depending on how I want to feel, I switch up the scents. I don't want to underscore the importance of great skin prep under makeup, but I recently rediscovered the importance of a good setting spray. You can add all the primer you want, but without a setting spray, nothing is locking all that hard work into place. During the summer heat, I am especially cautious of smudging my makeup, looking oily, or breaking out from sweat. That’s where the best mattifying setting sprays come into play.

Charlotte Tilbury, makeup artist and founder of her eponymous line Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, says that a great formula will prevent “disruption from excess oil, sweat and humidity or everyday movement, making it slip, fade, separate or settle into fine lines and texture.” I mean, who wants to spend an hour on their makeup just to watch it crease and smudge the second you step outside into the boiling temperatures?

If there is one beauty product that I’ve sworn by for years, it’s orange blush. When I first got into makeup, the only cheek colors touted as “made for deep skin tones” were typically rich berry hues. While I love a good plum cheek, purple is simply not a color I'd choose regularly. Plus, I really didn’t like that it basically was the only color I was constantly being told was wearable for my skin tone.

​After years of searching (and an aversion to deep purple blushes that is only now being rectified), I stumbled upon Taj Mahal from NARS Cosmetics. It was a blush that the brand claimed was made specifically for Naomi Campbell, and thus, my obsession with orange blushes began.

​“Orange blush adds a natural warmth to the cheek and even has a slight color-correcting effect, which is really nice to balance and brighten the complexion,” celebrity makeup artist Theo Turner tells me. “They also do a great job of adding dimension and shape to your makeup look.”

​I am a sucker for a good orange blush, and of the hundreds that I own, I’m almost certain that at least 40 percent of them are some variation of orange. Speaking of variation, that’s another reason why orange blush is so popular: there’s a shade for everyone. “So many colors fall under the orange umbrella,” Turner says. “Apricots, corals, terracottas; orange, in its many shades, can be very versatile and work on all skin tones, as long as you use the most flattering and appropriate shade for each skin tone,” Turner adds.

​I do consider myself to be an orange blush connoisseur, so of course, there are a myriad of orange blush shades that I can recommend off the top of my head. Finding the perfect brow pencil is a journey. My eyebrows are large, in charge, and somewhat unruly, and I never leave my apartment without grooming them. I also love to see a professional from time to time to help shape and tint them (it's 100 percent worth the splurge, trust me). When I'm in New York, I visit Joey Healy at his Manhattan studio. When I visit LA, that means I'm hitting up Kristie Streicher at her Beverly Hills salon, STRIIIKE. The brow artist is a master of the full and fluffy eyebrow look, a tweezing technique which she calls "The Nurtured Brow," and has translated that aesthetic to her tightly-edited brow care line, KS & Co.

As a longtime fan, I'm always eager to learn that the brand has a new launch coming, so when I was out west in January and stopped by STRIIIKE for an appointment, Streicher treated me to an early preview of the KS & Co Backcombing Texture Stick. I use a brow pencil pretty much every day (unless I'm feeling particularly lazy and only reach for a tinted brow gel), but I often find that the pigment doesn't look natural, or the finished look feels too "done." After using the Backcombing Texture Stick, quite literally down to the nub, for six months, I can confidently say that this is the best brow pencil that I've ever used—but not for the reasons you might think.

"The Backcombing Texture Stick isn’t a traditional brow pencil at all," says Streicher of her newest launch. "It was developed specifically to be used with my signature Backcombing Technique™ to create airy volume and fullness without overloading the hair—something no existing product was able to do." Since I've tested pretty much every single brow pencil on the market, I was anxious to give this buzzy launch a try and see if it was as unique as the founder claimed.

What Is the KS & Co. Backcombing Texture Stick?

As Streicher notes, this product is a truly unique addition to the brow care market. Instead of relying on heavy waxes or dense pigments that can flatten the brows, the formula uses "friction-activated texturizing technology to create grip, separation, and flexible structure while depositing a sheer veil of color. The plant-based fibers subtly expand and support each hair, making brows appear naturally fuller because the hairs themselves are lifted and amplified—not simply colored in." Her backcombing application technique (more on that shortly) also helps the user achieve incredibly natural-looking brows in what I consider to be record time.

How Do I Use the KS & Co. Backcombing Texture Stick?

This is where the stick really shines because you don't need to be so precious with your application, or painstakingly draw on individual hairs. "The Backcombing Texture Stick was designed around my signature Backcombing Technique, so it works best when you gently move the stick back and forth—both against and with the direction of hair growth," says Streicher. "That motion is what allows the formula to get underneath the hairs, wrapping the plant-based fibers around each strand while creating a soft shadow on the skin beneath." She notes that rather than simply coating the tops of the hairs, this back and forth technique builds airy volume, dimension, and the illusion of fullness from the inside out.

You also don't need to use a ton of pressure when you're drawing on the pigment. As Streicher explains, "The formula is meant to be layered lightly, so a gentle touch is all you need. I like to tell people to think of it as grazing the surface of the brow rather than drawing on it. The texture grips to the hairs without requiring pressure, which keeps the finish soft, airy, and believable. If you want a little more fullness, simply add another light layer instead of pressing harder. You'll get a much more natural result."

Once you've applied the pigment, you can use the spoolie end of the stick to brush the brow hairs up and into place. I also like to go in with a clear brow gel to keep the hairs locked upwards throughout the day. You could use a tinted option, but honestly, I felt like my brows were already so full-looking, I didn't need the extra pigment.

Then I used a cotton bud to clean up the ends and any spots where the pigment moved too far outside of my natural brow line and that was it! My eyebrows looked full but not "done" or like I just haphazardly applied some pigment; it was much more intentional and refined.

Are There Any Expert Tips to Use the Backcombing Texture Stick?

While I adore this product for its ease of use, I was also eager to hear if the creator had any experts insights to maximize the effects. Indeed there are. As Streicher explains, "The biggest mistake people make [when doing their brows] is trying to fill every gap they see. Natural brows have variation—that's part of what makes them beautiful." She suggesting starting with light layers with this stick, backcombing to brush the hairs back into place and then deciding if you need more. "I also recommend stepping back from the mirror every so often and looking at your entire face," she says. "Up close, it's easy to overdo it. Most people discover they need far less product than they initially thought."

Beauty editor tip? I like to do my brows in front of the window in natural light, as sometimes bathroom or indoor lighting can affect how the pigment appears to show up. You're welcome, neighbors!

Is the KS & Co Backcombing Texture Stick Worth It?

While I've been working in beauty for over a decade, I'm by no means a makeup artist, nor do I always have the patience to spend a ton of time on my glam. However, that doesn't equate to me not caring about how my makeup looks, especially when it comes to my brows. I've tried hundreds of brow pencils, pens, and pommades over the years and I've never enjoyed the final finish of one as much as I do with the Backcombing Texture Stick. The subtle wash of color is the perfect tint of pigment without looking like you drew on your brows with a chubby crayon (which, given the thickness of the tip, wouldn't be an unreasonable fear). I've yet to struggle with the application, and after a quick clean up around the edges of my brows with a cotton bud, they look as if I just left the salon post-tinting and shaping.

Honestly, I can say with my full chest that this is the best brow pencil that I've ever used, period, full stop. Whether you love spending an hour-plus on your makeup or you're committed to a five-minute face, I think you'll find that this new product will become a staple in your brow maintenance routine for the foreseeable future.

I’ve always thought of Bobbi Brown’s Vitamin Enriched Face Base as the product that sits between skincare and makeup. It’s technically a moisturizer and primer, and I always reach for it when I need some smoothing before makeup. Now, the brand is introducing Vitamin Enriched Face Base+, which is a reformulation and replacement of the OG product, and Marie Claire has the exclusive first look.

Face Base already did exactly what I wanted it to (hydration! foundation prep!), so I wasn’t automatically sold on the promise of more skincare benefits. Still, the additions make sense for the way people use primer now. “Consumers today expect more from every step—they want real skincare benefits, even from their primer,” says Aylin Guven, the brand’s director of product development. The updated formula adds more hydrating ingredients, plus niacinamide and a gentle smoothing ingredient designed to improve the look of skin over time.

Still, a longer ingredient list means very little to me if the product stops doing the thing I reach for it for: making my makeup look better. Guven says the goal was to “elevate performance, while protecting everything people love.”

So, does it still have that plush, instantly smoothing feel? And does the skincare upgrade make any noticeable difference? I tested the new Face Base+ to find out.

How Is the Bobbi Brown Face Base+ Formula Different From the Original?

The most interesting part of this update to me isn’t one of the (many) new vitamin additions. The original Face Base contained two silicones—D5, listed as cyclopentasiloxane, and dimethicone crosspolymer—both of which give it its silky glide and smoother finish. These ingredients have been removed from Face Base+. D5 is also set to be restricted in leave-on cosmetics in the European Union beginning in June 2027 because of environmental concerns. Bobbi Brown hasn’t linked the reformulation to the new rule, but the timing is notable.

Instead of swapping in another silicone, the brand appears to have recreated that silky, smoothing feel with a mix of lightweight emollients and texture enhancers. Together, they help the cream spread easily, soften the look of texture, and give the foundation a smoother base to sit on.

The skincare side got an upgrade, too. Niacinamide supports brighter, more even-looking skin, while glycerin and increased amounts of hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 boost hydration. There’s also acetyl glucosamine, a sugar-derived ingredient that helps gently refine the look of texture over time. As Guven puts it, “It’s not just an instant payoff; it’s also a longer-term investment in your skin.”

How Does the Bobbi Brown Face Base+ Feel and Wear On the Skin?

My skin feels like freaking butter when I apply Face Base+. It still has that rich, cushioned quality, but it doesn't feel quite as thick as the original on my skin. The texture spreads easily with a punch of moisture and leaves behind the perfect amount of grip for makeup—without any of the tackiness I associate with traditional primers.

Once the foundation goes on, that grip earns its keep. My makeup doesn’t catch on dry patches or look like it’s sitting in a separate layer on top of my skin; everything just looks smoother and more luminous. Guven says the formula “helps prevent caking and flaking, so makeup stays fresh and smooth throughout the day.” So far, that’s been true for me.

The OG grapefruit-and-geranium scent is still there, too. I personally love the zesty smell, and my skin has always reacted well to the formula, but it’s worth noting for anyone with very fragrance-sensitive skin.

I’ve also started using Face Base+ at night. It’s technically marketed as more of a makeup-prep product, but I love it as a light, mask-like treatment when my skin needs something extra without being smothered in a heavy cream. Guven says people often come for the primer benefits and eventually use it on no-makeup days, too. I get it—I think I actually prefer this version to the original.

Is the Bobbi Brown Face Base+ Worth It?

I expected Face Base+ to feel mostly the same as the original. Instead, I’ve been reaching for it more. It feels lighter, makes my skin look more luminous, and gives foundation exactly the kind of smooth, grippy base I love.

The real surprise is how often I use it when makeup isn’t involved. I’ll wear it alone when I want my skin to look a little more even or apply it at night when I need extra moisture but don’t want a thick sleeping mask. It still feels unmistakably like Face Base—just less heavy and more useful in my routine. I like the original, but I’d choose this one any day—and that’s coming from a very picky beauty editor.

What Should I Look For in a Hydrating Foundation?

The best makeup for your personal needs can only be decided by, well, you. However, there are a few things that you can keep in mind if this is your first foray into the world of hydrating foundations.

​“The main thing I look for in a hydrating formula is texture and coverage preference,” Turner says. “Think about whether you want a cream, serum, or liquid foundation, then narrow your list down by the amount of coverage that you want.” Additionally, Turner checks the ingredient lists for a few key inclusions. “Does the foundation have hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin, which help to bind the product to the skin?” he says. “Ingredients like those also help to keep the product moisturizing and, from a sensorial standpoint, feeling good on the skin throughout the day.”

Can I Use a Hydrating Foundation If I Have Oily Skin?

In short, yes, people with oily skin can absolutely use hydrating foundation formulas. However, the way you prep your skin is really important. “I would use a silicone-based primer in the areas that tend to get oily and let it set before applying the foundation,” Turner says. His biggest tip for people with oily skin? “Don't forget to use a powder to set your face.”

As The Odyssey press tour finally wraps up (the highly-anticipated Christopher Nolan film hits theaters on July 17, 2026) we'll sadly have to bid adieu to the cast's unbelievable red carpet looks. I mean, Zendaya! Charlize! Anne! And, of course, Lupita! Take your pick from any of these leading ladies and you'll be blessed with endless hair and makeup inspiration. But the glam didn't stop at the neck, especially for the Oscar-winning actress and Black Panther alum. Lupita Nyong'o's body glow reached lens-cracking proportions by the time she hit the Paris photocall on July 8th, wearing a Chanel Resort 2027 red gown and SAUER x Jason Wu Branch earrings, and I, for one, was desperate to know the secret to her head-to-toe luminosity. Don't worry, fellow beauty obsessives. I uncovered the answer, and it's a totally achievable combination of skincare and makeup.

"[The glow is from] a combination of things," her makeup artist, Nick Barose, tells me, adding that he usually starts this full glam process by scrubbing down Nyong'o's arms with a warm washcloth. This provides a gentle exfoliation to remove any lingering rough or dry patches, which in turn preps the skin for hydrating and glow-boosting products. "Then I applied Hume Dry Body Oil, [which] she actually turned me on to. I love it because it adds shine and hydration minus the grease." You gotta love a Hollywood star who is just as entrenched in finding great skincare products as the regular beauty fans!

Barose reveals that to enhance the highlight on the actress's collarbones, upper shoulders, and the center of her arms even further, he added the Chanel Baune Essential Stick in Golden Light (a favorite of this editor as well, but a color that is sadly only available in Europe at the moment). For the Paris premiere, however, he took it a step further and reached for coppery glitter from Ben Nye, a true if you know, you know brand beloved by theater performers and celebrity makeup artists for its long-lasting formulas that can withstand hours of sweat and heat.

With the summer wedding season still in full swing, I know that this is one makeup-meets-skincare combo that I'll be using to enhance my seasonal radiance. So over the years, I’ve picked up some damn good tips and tricks. One of the biggest differences is how the foundation applies. The key is to pump product onto the back of your hand and completely saturate your brush before gently swirling it onto the skin. The result is a light, not-caky finish that looks more even and intentional. You can build up where needed, but I find that one layer is sufficient for a hot summer day. The concealer brush is also a game changer for me—I have fine lines under my eyes so using a brush really helps me control placement.

As far as the eyes go? The Everything Set really does contain everything for any eye look. I’m a creature of habit, so I always use the Detail & Diffuse for my base shadow, the Crease Brush for my darkest shade, and the Line and Smudge Brush to drag shadow along my lower lash line or even blend out my eyeliner.

What beauty products always make it into your locker room bag—and why can’t you live without them?

The beauty products that always make it into my makeup bag, regardless of whether I’m training or competing, are a good black eyeliner (I love a smoky eye), e.l.f. Lash XTNDR Tubing Mascara, and usually a tinted lip balm or lip gloss to bring my look together. I don’t wear foundation, so I love playing with my eye makeup by creating a smoky eye with a touch of highlighter in the corners of my eyes to brighten everything up. I love it because it has two moisturizing bars, so if I’m in a rush or need a quick touch-up before a competition, I can just use water and not rely on shaving cream.

It’s pretty simple. I like using a cleanser to wash my face, then I’ll use an eye cream, followed by a moisturizer, and I’m done. For my hair, I’ll brush it again and either put it back or leave it down, depending on what I’m feeling.

What's your favorite hairstyle for game day?

I don’t have a favorite hairstyle. I really just love any opportunity I get to be me and wear my hair down. I know my hair has made a huge impact on my fans, and I love using it for self-expression.

This isn’t specific to being an athlete, but an eyeliner applicator that gets it perfect on each eye on the first try! Especially getting the upper lid even on both eyes.

My go-to products are Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Facial Cleansing Towelettes and Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen. Since I train outdoors for hours at a time, sunscreen is absolutely essential. The wipes are perfect for refreshing my skin and removing dirt and sweat between practices when I don't have time to fully reset at home.

How has being a professional athlete changed the way you approach beauty?

It’s made beauty feel like part of my preparation and game-day ritual. It's almost like putting on my game face. You don't have to choose between being a high-performing athlete and embracing beauty—they can absolutely coexist and complement each other.

After a long, sweaty day at work, what's your go-to routine for resetting your skin and hair?

I love using Olaplex [products] on my hair, especially a nourishing deep conditioner after spending hours on the track. It helps bring my hair back to life and feels like the perfect reset after a long day.

What's your favorite hairstyle for game day?

My go-to is a low slick-back bun with a middle part. I love having my hair pulled back and out of my face so I can stay focused and not have to think about it while I'm on the track.

Is there a beauty product you wish existed to solve a common athlete skin or hair dilemma?

I'd love a completely sweat-proof blowout product. It would be amazing to train in the heat and sun without sweating out straight hair or worrying about my edges afterward.

What beauty products always make it into your locker room bag—and why can’t you live without them?

I would say the number one thing is SPF. I either use Shiseido or Versed, which my U.S. Women’s National Team teammate Emily Fox put me on to. Post-training, after I've washed my face and showered, I like to put on Avène Cicalfate. It's supposed to help restore your skin barrier, which I feel like I need after I've been sweating, in the sun, and covered in dirt and grime.

I also always have Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 68 Beija Flor in my bag. That's my little scent that I spritz before and after training. A little random, but I always have Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment with me as well.

How has being a professional athlete changed the way you approach beauty?

A couple of things about being a professional athlete have affected my approach to skincare. First, I'm very habitual about it. I have a morning routine and a night routine that I do not stray from. I do it every single day. That's just the athlete in me.

The other part is being in a sport where I'm playing outside in the sun, rolling around in the grass and dirt, sweating a lot, and getting plenty of grime on my face. It has made me take my skincare very seriously. Making sure I protect my skin from the sun and keep it clean and refreshed after training or games is really important.

After a long, sweaty day at work, what's your go-to routine for resetting your skin and hair?

For my skin, I like to double cleanse just to make extra sure I'm getting all the sweat and grime off my face. I really like the Melting Balm Cleanser from BYOMA, and I use La Roche-Posay's Vitamin C Brightening Facial Cleanser.

When I'm out of the shower, I use Avène Cicalfate again. It's really moisturizing, and I feel like I need it after a long, sweaty day. Then I'll put on Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer. It's super light and made with simple ingredients, and I feel like it works really well on my face.

For my hair, I really like OUAI shampoo and conditioner, specifically their Detox Shampoo. I use it all the time because I feel like it really gets the sweat and grime out of my hair. When I get out of the shower, I use Lush Super Milk, which is a leave-in conditioner. It smells so good. I also recently tried a new product from Crown Affair—their Smoothing Air Dry Cream—and I've been liking it a lot. My hair gets dry and frizzy, so between the two, they help add moisture and define my curls and waves a little more. I also love K18 products. Their Molecular Repair Hair Oil is really helpful for adding moisture back into my hair after it's been out in the sun and sweaty.

What's your favorite hairstyle for game day?

I’m pretty boring with my gameday hairstyle. I literally just put my hair in a ponytail and put pre-wrap on. It's nothing special. The important piece is the pre-wrap because I have a lot of flyaways that need to be tamed.

Is there a beauty product you wish existed to solve a common athlete skin or hair dilemma?

There may already be this product, and I just haven't discovered it yet, but I feel like a lot of us like to slick our hair back when we put it in a ponytail. The gels and waxes we use to tame flyaways and make it look cleaner aren't necessarily great for our hair.

I want a dual-purpose hair mask that can slick back my hair and tame flyaways while also serving as a leave-in treatment. That way, my hair is actually getting a little treatment while I’m running around. Then, when I shower, I wouldn’t have this big, sweaty, tangled mess. Instead, it would be like washing out a nourishing hair mask, and my hair would be left feeling soft and healthy.

Honestly, my bag is a little window into my world—who I am, what I stand for, and the whole reason I built FORTA Cosmetics, where performance and beauty meet. The constants are lip balm (I'm always testing new ones), hair ties, and a mini brush. Then there's my post-practice bag: face lotion, deodorant, concealer, brow gel, blush, and mascara. Every product in my bag has to earn its spot. My routine is faster, more functional, and more skin-focused—built for my real lifestyle. The biggest thing I've learned is that real confidence comes from feeling healthy, capable, and completely put together, no matter what the day throws at me.

After a long, sweaty day at work, what's your go-to routine for resetting your skin and hair?

The biggest thing is getting everything clean and hydrated again. I always remove my makeup, cleanse, and reach for products that calm inflammation and bring moisture back.

In the shower, I use a gentle CeraVe cleanser. Once I'm out, I use a complexion pad to get my skin extra clean, then follow up with Weleda Skin Food. Hairwise, I usually wear a slicked-back look with a headband for games and practice, so afterward I'll either wash it or keep it slicked back and add more leave-in treatment, since I'm often right back at it for another session.

That reset is as much mental as it is physical. Clean skin, fresh start, ready for whatever's next.

What's your favorite hairstyle for game day?

I have really long, thick hair, so keeping it secure and out of my face without damaging it is a constant battle. I always wear a pre-wrap headband, which keeps my hair off my face while still making me feel confident and put together.

For bigger events or career moments, I usually lean toward soft waves because they feel a little more elevated while still feeling like me. It also lets me show a different side of myself than the one people see on the court.

Is there a beauty product you wish existed to solve a common athlete skin or hair dilemma?

Mascara—there's nothing like a boost of confidence from your mascara. Look good, feel good, play good. For skin tint, my two favorites are Ilia and IT Cosmetics. Something with good SPF and a little tint always picks me up. I also never travel without my Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask because dry lips are a no-go. A beauty influencer got me addicted to these Bessrung Nylon Hair Ties from Amazon that come in a pack of 100. They never break, and I love how they hold my hair. For deodorant, I use Just Ingredients. And when it comes to pimple patches, I have every brand. They make it easy to take care of blemishes fast.

How has being a professional athlete changed the way you approach beauty?

Being an athlete reinforces confidence in who you are. If you like something and enjoy it, who cares what others think?

I love that I could be strong on the field while also expressing my feminine side through makeup and clothes. Because we're constantly on the go, it's also forced me to perfect my 10 to 15-minute routine.

After a long, sweaty day at work, what's your go-to routine for resetting your skin and hair?

A new addition to my bag was recommended by my dermatologist: Hydrinity Hyacyn Active Purifying Mist. It helps kill bacteria and refreshes my skin after a workout. For my hair, I reach for either a boar-bristle brush or my Wet Brush, depending on how hard my workout was, plus Vegamour GRO Dry Shampoo.

What's your favorite hairstyle for game day?

High ponytail, baby—with some volume. I just loved the routine of getting ready for a game.

Is there a beauty product you wish existed to solve a common athlete skin or hair dilemma?

When you're practicing or playing in the rain, your hair becomes one giant knot if it's in a ponytail or bun. I need a spray or serum that stops the 45-minute comb session it takes to undo all those tangles.

As much as I was looking forward to summer during the long, dark, frigid days of winter, the heat wave striking New York City is taking me down. Even a quick jaunt to get coffee across the street from the office leaves me with dribbles of sweat down my face, while my hair clings to the back of my neck like an unwanted wool blanket. Sure, I could give into the 100+ temperatures and just walk around with a bare face (plus plenty of sunscreen, of course) and my wavy hair pulled into a messy top knot at all times. But where’s the fun in that? The sun is shining, the sunsets are gloriously late, and all I want to do is sit on a shaded patio with a few friends, eating chips and guac and sipping a margarita or two—without my face melting off. No heat wave is going to steal my glam, which is why I’ve discovered a few essentials to still look extremely hot without feeling hot—as long as there is a quick escape into some A/C nearby, of course.

Whether I’m prepping for a day at the office or a night out, my makeup must feel lightweight, breathable, and resist the pull to melt down my face in a few hours. I also keep a few extra essentials in my summer tote to cool me down as I’m walking around the city—hopefully on my way to the ferry to reach the beach for the rest of the day. So, if you’re also battling brutal summer temperatures, here’s everything I swear by in my heat wave beauty routine.

Prep Is Everything

I never leave my apartment with deodorant in the summer, and I similarly always apply a longwear primer to keep my makeup locked in place until the end of the day.

Lusciously Lightweight

While there are plenty of beautiful summer foundations to choose from, I tend to lean towards a skin tint in this type of heat. I want that blurring finish without covering up my freckles or clogging my pores.

Set It and Forget It

A setting spray is non-negotiable when it’s this hot outside. The current best-sellers on the market are so freaking good that I can’t believe I used to skip this step. Never again!

Powder Power

When the temps hit the upper 90s, a little excess shine is inevitable by midday. That’s where a powder sunscreen comes into play. Fresh SPF protection and mattifying benefits? Perfection.

Keep It Cool

Sometimes, there’s only so much that makeup products can do to keep you feeling cool in the heat. That’s when I turn to a few extra tools to lower my body temp and keep my glam looking fresh.

A funny thing happened when I began researching the best foundation drops: I couldn’t find many. That’s a bit of an exaggeration, but as someone who vividly remembers what might have been the heyday of foundation drops—the late 2010s— there are far fewer products marketed as such these days. And I have two half-baked theories as to why: 1. Shade ranges have improved drastically, reducing the need for makeup wearers to play alchemist with foundation drops to get a perfect match, and 2. People are wearing less foundation in general, opting instead for tinted moisturizers and sunscreens.

That said, today's foundation drops often take on a lighter, more natural skin-like approach—sometimes being marketed as skin tints or skin serums instead. As professional makeup artist Christian Briceno explains, foundation drops have one big advantage: flexibility. “Foundation drops let you refine the complexion without treating every part of the face as though it needs the same correction,” he says. For example: “I can use a few drops to soften redness and even out the complexion, then add a little more only where the skin needs it,” he says.

They’re also easy to layer, can help you adjust the finish of your base makeup, and just generally give you more control. “Depending on the formula, I can apply them directly for more coverage or work them into well-prepped skin for a more transparent look,” Briceno explains. How To Use Foundation Drops

Since the formulas can be quite pigmented, Briceno recommends starting with a light hand. "I place a few drops on a clean palette rather than applying them directly to the face,” he says—and getting a feel for that specific formula. "One extra drop can be the difference between fresh skin and too much coverage,” he notes. Use a flexible brush to apply your drops, then blend them in with a damp sponge or your fingertips, working from the center of the face outward. After you’ve got one layer on, take stock of your work before going back in with more; then, once you’re satisfied, “place it, diffuse the edges, and leave it alone,” says Briceno. “Constantly buffing can disturb the layer underneath and make a fluid foundation look less seamless.”

One of my most heartbreaking discoveries in researching this piece was that NYX Cosmetics had discontinued its famous Total Control Drop Foundation (truly the end of an era). There is nothing in this world that thrills me more than unboxing new beauty products. Thankfully, it’s my job to do just that, to spotlight the best launches worth adding to your beauty routines.

I don’t know if it stems from my days covering acne in my teens, my heavy consumption of makeup YouTube in my 20s, or my current days as a beauty editor with tons of products to get through, but I’m a committed summer foundation wearer. And yes, that includes in the heat of the season. While everyone else is slipping into skin tints or skipping base makeup entirely, your girl is bouncing her BeautyBlender over a nice, pigmented layer of product.

How do I not only tolerate it, but actively enjoy it, even amidst peak NYC humidity? As you might have guessed, there’s an art to wearing foundation in the summertime. “Summer skin is usually a little more active thanks to heat, sweat, and humidity, so I look for foundations that offer ‘buildable’ coverage rather than full, heavy coverage,” says Jamie Greenberg, pro makeup artist and founder of Jamie Makeup. “The goal is to even out the complexion while letting your healthy glow come through.” Finish-wise, celebrity makeup artist Ash K Holm suggests going natural-satin or soft-radiant: “Too matte can look flat in the summer, while super dewy formulas can break down faster in heat,” she explains. “A balanced, flexible finish tends to wear the best.”

Keep an eye out for skincare additions, too, like hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. “These ingredients are great because they help keep the skin looking fresh and hydrated without needing layers of heavy product,” says Holm. “I also love when a summer complexion product has SPF, but I always remind people that foundation with SPF should not replace your actual sunscreen.”

How Do I Apply Foundation in the Summer?

How you put your summer foundation on matters just as much as the product itself. Celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan likes to apply thin layers over hydrated skin. “Using less product and building coverage only where needed helps everything look more natural and wear better throughout the day,” she says. And all three MUAs recommend strategic powdering; think the T-zone, chin, and under-eye area. “If you powder your entire face in the summer, you can lose that fresh, healthy glow that makes summer makeup so beautiful,” says Greenberg. Opt for setting spray instead: “it helps melt everything together and keeps the makeup looking fresh instead of powdery,” says Holm.

I’ve spent the greater part of the past six months dealing with the driest lips of my life. Unbeknownst to me, you can get eczema on your lips, and let me just say—not fun. My upper lip has been cracked, chapped, and unbelievably tight-feeling for the majority of 2026. My routine? Aquaphor and prescription treatments and absolutely no lipsticks or stains. But! I’m finally out of my flare, which means it’s time to start enjoying color again. That’s where Anastasia Beverly Hills’s new Kiss Theory Lip Balm comes into play.

It’s a gel-balm by design, with hydration as the top priority, but it also delivers high-impact color and a glossy finish. Think of it like a lip mask, lipstick, and lip gloss all wrapped up into one. I apply it 10 times a day, and it’s made my lips feel so moisturized (thank you, hyaluronic acid). I genuinely think this is the softest they’ve ever been in my entire life. There are 23 shades to choose from, although I’m incredibly partial to shade Sugarcoat, a pale peachy-pink nude. The Formula

I’m a big fan of multi-tasking products, so when this claimed to be a single replacement for my lip balm, lipstick, and lip gloss, my ears perked up. It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid and vitamin E, both of which are hydrating and soothing, is vegan and cruelty-free, and, most impressively, packs in an impressive amount of pigment. I honestly can’t think of an existing product on the market to compare this to. It’s similar-ish to Hourglass’s Glossy Balm, but with a more gel-like finish rather than a glossy one.

On the packaging front, this is noticeably shorter in length than most glosses. It’s not to skimp on product—the design was intentionally made to slip into your pocket or mini handbag.

The Application

These balms are actually pretty pigmented, so I probably wouldn’t reach for it on a no-makeup day—it’s more of a lipstick substitute. I start by slightly over-lining my lips (Summer Fridays SoftLine Lip Liner is my current favorite) and then reach for my color of choice. While I normally would prep my lips with a clear balm, this is frankly hydrating enough to compensate for it.

The slanted design of the bullet perfectly hugs the curves of my lips, and I’ve noticed that the formula is light and thin enough that I can apply a decent amount of pressure and still steer clear of a clumpy finish. It has a moisturizer-like effect, sinking into my lips instantly rather than sitting on top of them. I’m happy to report this isn’t tacky in the slightest. It has a silicone-like slip to it that makes me want to rub my lips together all day long just for the sake of it.

The pigment isn’t as long-lasting as a lipstick per se, so I find myself reapplying every couple of hours. But even though the color fades, I find the moisture is much longer lasting.

The Takeaway

I’ve had Kiss Theory in my bag for a few weeks now (I got an extra-early sample at dinner with Anastasia herself last month) and find myself reaching for it constantly. From an aesthetic standpoint, one layer makes my lips look so glossy and hydrated—the formula both floats over chapped spots and sinks into my natural lips. (I know that sounds contradictory, but it’s the truth.)

It has a glassy finish that I’m normally only able to achieve with a gloss. And from a hydration perspective? Traditional lipsticks were leaving my lips feeling tight and dry—this product provides both instant and sustained hydration. My lips have genuinely never felt softer, and coming off a months-long chapped-lip struggle, that is incredibly appreciated.

Marc Jacobs presented his Spring/Summer 2027 show at the New York Public Library on Monday June 29th, returning to the space for the first time in two years. Fans of the designer will rejoice in the colorful display of artful layering and scintillating textures (who knew peach PVC would become a must-have closet staple for the new year?). For the beauty fans in the crowd, the parade of icy blue, sunshine yellow, and luxe lavender pieces felt like an apt reminder that Jacobs recently relaunched his eponymous beauty line, Marc Jacobs Beauty, with a newly youthful, Euphoria-esque aesthetic while maintaining his signature fearless approach to color.

Models sported a rainbow of lipstick shades on the runway, from glossy raspberry to warm crimson, with plenty of flawless nude tones thrown in for good measure. But having grown up in the '90s and early '00s, my eyes went straight to the ring of black eyeliner circling each model's upper and lower lids, with a barely-there wing to elongate the eye shape. Dark, imperfect, and thoroughly unapologetic, the season of the grunge girl is still here it seems, and with Jacobs' pedigree as the king of grunge (recall the infamous 1993 Perry Ellis collection that quite literally got him fired from the brand, while sparking the quintessential early '90s aesthetic) the return to his beauty roots feels like a fitting throwback.

In his show notes, Jacobs wrote, "Creating, as an act of gratitude, is my truest form of self-expression,” and indeed, the deeply personal show felt like a stylish reflection of the designer's singular point of view. It makes sense, then, that his glam choices would be similarly confident and artful. The bare "clean girl" aesthetic, while still buzzy in certain corners of the beauty internet, gives way to something more brazen in the world of Marc Jacobs. All it took was a few models sauntering down the runway in glossy lips and tightlined eyes to inspire me to reach once again for my bag of eyeliners and mascaras, which in the summer are normally relegated to the furthest reaches of my beauty vanity. Why not risk the seasonal heat and subsequent under-eye smear for the sake of a high-fashion eye look? It makes my forever emo girl heart happy to think of makeup, like the clothing in Jacobs' show, as a true statement moment, rather than something barely-there and subtle.

"I chatted with Marc about giving the makeup this feeling that it was a bit done but undone," Thomas de Kluyver, lead makeup artist for Marc Jacobs Beauty, explained via a press release to media. "All the fabrics in the collection are super shiny and sheer, so we wanted to continue those textures through the makeup. The skin is dewy and glossy with either a black or colored lined eye. Some models' looks are finished with a neon lip—others just a clear shine. In a way it's very New York, the girl that works uptown during the day then goes downtown at night."

With the energy in New York at an all-time high (thank you, Mayor Mamdani and the New York Knicks) I can think of no better time to embrace Jacobs' call to self-expression with a little—or a lot—of eyeliner. Spark joy! Be bold! Don't worry that your mascara is transferring to your lower lid by noon! Is this a sign that makeup can be fun again, rather than merely a did she or didn't she application to help you look effortlessly flawless? I have one motto for this summer and one motto only: "When I’m outside, it’s lip gloss and vibes." Of course, this means that only the best of the best formulas will be in my tiny purse this summer, and it’s like Chanel heard my cries and decided to release (or, in this case, re-release) one of my favorite new makeup products just in time: The Rouge Coco Hydra Gloss, a new iteration of its famous lip formula that is replacing the previous version, the Rouge Coco Gloss Moisturizing Glossimers.

As with all iconic beauty product reformulations, I was pretty skeptical about the change at first, because in my eyes, the previous formula was pretty much perfect. But Chanel Beauty has officially made me eat my words, and you heard it here first: I adore this new iteration.

While the previous version had a lot of tackiness, I found it wasn't as shiny as some of my thicker formulas, like M.A.C.’s lipglass. This meant I had to reapply quite often to get the shine I was looking for. Still, that was never a problem for me, because who doesn’t want to take out their absolutely adorable Chanel lip gloss and have a main-character moment at the function? Exactly. Still, this new formula takes my love of this lip gloss to new heights, and if you were also skeptical about this reformulation, don't worry: you’re about to love this new version, too.

​I get into the specifics of this new formula ahead, and if the forthcoming holiday weekend has activated the shoppies for you, I also recommend a few additional Chanel Beauty products that I simply can’t stop obsessing over.

The Formula

As is to be expected from a gloss, the formula is viscous and imparts a latex-like shine on the lips. There are 18 shades to choose from, ranging from milky pinks to deep reds, and even a few unexpected colors like the jade-green hue Éclectique. It’s a solid offering that’s perfect for the everyday makeup enthusiast and professional artists alike, so anyone should be able to find their new go-to color.

There appear to be two finishes in the line—one that’s glittery and the other that’s more of a subtle shimmer. My only gripe with the line is that the colors in the former category, while they provide a glassy, mirror-like shine, feel a tiny bit gritty on the lips. It’s not to the point where it feels like I just put on a lip scrub, and it’s not so disruptive that I don't want to use the formula. However, it is noticeable enough for me to be cognizant of it, so if you’re also one of those people who have slight sensory issues as I do, I highly recommend testing these glosses in person before purchasing.

The Ingredients

This formula boasts what Chanel calls the Hydra-Peptide Complex, which, according to the ingredient list, appears to be a combination of various oils and waxes. You’ll find hibiscus and camellia seed oil, both of which are extremely moisturizing and reinforce the lip’s moisture barrier. These glosses also contain sunflower seed and rice wax, both of which lock in moisture without added weight and help boost the gloss's shine. Top this off with additional ingredients like C10-30 cholesterol/lanosterol and jojoba esters, which soften the lips and act as an emollient, respectively, and you have a recipe for one of the shiniest, lightweight lip gloss formulas on the market.

The Application

The application is as flawless as it’s always been. There’s a doe-foot applicator that helps dispense the product onto the lips with ease, and its slight divet ensures it hugs each lip perfectly. It also dispenses the perfect amount of product with each swipe, as even when I build up the layers of gloss that I have on, I just get more shine, never too much excess product to the point where it feels sticky or goopy on my mouth.

The Takeaway

We can all take a big sigh of relief that one of the best high-end glosses on the market is still as good as we all remember it being (dare I say that it’s even better?). The shine these provide is light-years ahead of the previous formula, and while some shades were discontinued (Rose Naif, you have my heart), the replacements are practically the same, so there are really no gaps in the color range. It’s a relaunch that has earned my stamp of approval. But while you’re shopping the new line, it doesn't hurt to stock up on a few more of my favorites from the brand below, right?

Whenever I hear the word sale, it’s like a bat signal goes off, and I turn into Bruce Wayne. I don’t know if I’m showing my age here a little (I’m a loud and proud 29-year-old), however, it’s always a little trippy when a product you’ve used and loved for ages suddenly goes mega-viral. So you can imagine my surprise when I was doing my nightly scroll on TikTok and came across a treasure trove of videos showing people falling in love with a product that I have used and adored for years: the By Terry Tea to Tan Hydra Bronze Mist.

The timing couldn't be better. Bronzing tints, glow mists, and body shimmers have become some of TikTok's favorite ways to fake a post-vacation glow (shoutout to the just-as-viral Victoria Beckham Color Wash Bronze Water Tint and Lux Unfiltered Summer Nights Body Tint). As lightweight, skin-first makeup continues to dominate, it's no surprise that another formula for sexy summer skin is having a moment.

The rise of these lightweight bronzing formulas reflects a broader shift in beauty right now with the start of summer: less coverage, more glow. That's certainly been true for my own makeup routine. My foundations have gotten lighter (some have even been fully replaced by skin tints), my four-step lip combinations have been replaced by stains and glosses, and even my skincare routine has seen a complete overhaul. Everything is getting more lightweight and dewy and that’s exactly why I started using my Tea to Tan formula again—it’s the perfect product to add a bronzy glow to the skin without making your pores feel weighed down or suffocating in the heat.

The Formula and Ingredients

One of the most fascinating things about this formula, to me, is that it essentially has taken an age-old hack—using tea bags to tint the skin—and perfected it. Gone are the leaves that have to be steeped to give the color that you’re looking for. In its place? This chic bottle that mists the perfect amount of product, every time, anywhere on the body. It’s the perfect product to both travel with and incorporate into your everyday routine at home, and mine hasn’t left my vanity area in weeks—I’ve been using it that much.

As for the ingredients, black and red tea complexes provide lots of antioxidant support to the formula while also giving the liquid a DHA-free tint. Moisturizing ingredients like glycerin and cherry essence contribute to the formula's elegance, allowing the liquid time to blend before drying down, which helps avoid patchiness. Did I also mention that this tint dries down matte and is completely transfer-proof? It’s sorcery.

The Texture, Application, and Shades

This is a liquid, water-based product, so expect it to work like any other face mist in your routine. While the original version, which is the one I have, came in a glass bottle, the newer iteration comes in a plastic one. Both have an atomizer component that allows the formula to be sprayed onto the face or onto a brush with ease, making for quick, easy blending into the skin. Tea to Tan only comes in one color, but it’s a formula that layers beautifully, so you can build it up to your desired depth.

The Takeaway

All in all, I’m glad that Tea to Tan is having its moment right now, and I absolutely co-sign the hype it’s getting on social media. I personally stick to using it on my face, but it can absolutely be used all over the body, including the legs and décolletage, for a glowy, just-got-back-from-vacation vibe. Summer is finally here, and I am my happiest self on the days I'm chilling by the water with a fruity frozen treat in hand—or at least when I look like I have been. Popsicle lips—a.k.a the stained, plump vibe on your lips post-popsicle—are a look I can fully get behind. While I don't suck on a cherry ice pop every morning before heading out the door, I do keep quite a healthy collection of Korean lip tints on hand to achieve the same vibe. They deliver a perfect, fruity stain and are also far lighter than my usual lipstick.

“Korean lip tints were designed for a different aesthetic goal than most of the traditional Western-style lip products,” says Los Angeles-based makeup artist Grace Pae. “Instead of looking like a highly pigmented color on the lips, they are meant to create a more natural-looking wash of color that looks like it’s coming from within your lips.” Or from a popsicle.

But don’t think that Korean lip tints are only good for achieving one look: “In reality, they're some of the most adaptable lip products available,” says NYC-based makeup artist Christian Briceno. “The same formula can create a soft stain, a blurred lip, a glossy finish, or a more saturated statement depending on how it's applied.”

But no matter how you apply them, Korean lip tints are ultra-long-lasting, infused with the skincare ingredients Korean beauty is famous for, and will keep your lips moisturized all summer long. “Korean lip tints have somehow captured lightning in a bottle—the hydration and nourishment of a balm, the shine of a gloss, and the pigment of a lipstick,” says New York-based makeup artist Selena Graham. So without further ado, read ahead to learn all about the trend—and shop my personal favorites.

What Is a Korean Lip Tint?

While Korean lip tints have been a Korean beauty staple since the early 2010s, they have exploded in the global mainstream in the last few years, with the popsicle, blurred, and gradient lip trends becoming viral TikTok sensations.

These trends are not about a perfectly defined lip line; instead, the deepest concentration of color is at the center of the lip and then diffuses outward toward the edges of the mouth. This creates dimension and a naturally fuller-looking effect. “[They have a] softer, more effortless finish that feels modern and flattering on almost everyone,” says Brecino. “Korean lip tints are ideal for this because they melt into the lips rather than sitting heavily on top.”

Unlike your traditional lipsticks, which can leave a harsh ring or feathering around the lips as they fade away, Korean lip tints stain the lips with a lasting wash of color that looks like it is part of the lip. Selena Graham says this has made them a huge game-changer for her bridal and red-carpet clients.

Korean lip tints have played a major role in the move toward soft-focus beauty. “Instead of the lip being a separate statement, it's becoming part of the overall harmony of the face,” explains Brecino. “The effect is softer, fresher, and often more modern than a traditional lipstick look.”

How Do I Apply a Korean Lip Tint?

Whether you want a higher-impact or softer look, hydration is key. First, apply a layer of lip balm, let it settle, then blot away any excess product. “The goal is for the lips to feel comfortable, not slippery, so the tint can adhere evenly,” says Brecino.

All of the makeup artists stress that you’ll want to start slow with a Korean lip tint. “Remember, the point of this product is to stain the skin, so we can’t go in too hot,” says Graham. Start with a swipe right on the center of the bottom lip, then rub your lips together or use your finger to disperse. Wait for the first layer to settle, then repeat the process, slowly getting closer and closer to your lip line. “I've found that the biggest mistake is applying too much product at once,” adds Brecino. “Korean lip tints are meant to be built gradually. The lighter the application, the fresher and more effortless the result looks.”

• For a soft gradient effect: Start applying it to the inner part of your lips and blend outwards.
• For plumper, fuller-looking lips: Graham recommends using a lip contour stick first. She then applies the first layer of lip tint, starting from the inner part of the lips and blending outwards. “I give that first layer a couple of seconds to dry down,” she says. “Then I apply a brighter/vibrant shade just in the inner center part of the lips.
• For a blurred lip: Brecino applies the tint first, then softens the lip line with a clean finger or a small brush.
• For a glazed lip: Apply the tint first, let it settle for a minute, then layer a clear balm or gloss on top.“What makes these looks feel modern is that they don't rely on perfection,” says Brecino. “The color can be softer, slightly diffused, and a little lived-in. That bit of imperfection is often what makes the lips look more youthful and believable.”

When I think of Victoria Beckham’s makeup, I think of it being pretty damn perfect. So when I sat down for lunch with her at San Vincente in New York City two months ago, and she started scribbling blush on her face as if it were a coloring book, I was both very here for it and very shocked. But, as she explained, the messy application is the whole point of her brand-new Blush Stylus launch. “Blush is one of the personal parts of my makeup—where I place it, the shade I use, the intensity I want,” she says. “With the Blush Stylus, I like to draw small marks on my cheeks and nose, and blend with my fingers. It’s quick, playful, and always looks completely natural.”

The spin-up blush is much smaller than your typical blush stick—probably one-tenth the diameter. The reason? You have complete control over where the product goes. I'm pretty messy on my cheeks, but the small size comes in handy when I’m applying product to my nose, eyelids, or even my lips. Bonus: they take up no room in my makeup bag. There are six shades in the bunch—my personal favorite is Fresco—and all of them retail for $40.

The Formula

When I say that these make my cheeks look juicy, I mean it. There’s a reason. The formula contains plant-based lanolin, which is a mega-moisturizer. It locks in the hydrating goodness from my skincare and simultaneously provides extra conditioning my skin so that my face looks plump and healthy. It’s also a big reason why the product blends so seamlessly with fingers alone.

There are six shades total, so in addition to my personal favorite Fresco, a peach-coral pink, you can scoop up Rossa, a classic rose, Sienna, a warm terracotta clay, Fiore, a bright, bold pink, and Rubino, a deep, bold berry. While your bank account might object to buying all of these babies at once, I highly recommend scooping up at least two. Combining shades to create my own personal cocktail has been the highlight of my makeup routine.

The Application

Putting this on, genuinely, couldn’t be easier. While I normally underpaint, these are so soft and natural that I find putting them on over foundation wastes less product and is more effective. Post-bronzer, I scribble on my cheekbones with no particular method—just zig zags and random lines—and then apply a little on the bridge of my nose. I then use my ring and middle fingers to blend them all together. It’s dummy-proof, but if you feel there are any harsh lines or that the product is sitting on top of your skin, just take a damp, warm beauty blender to gently diffuse it.

The Takeaway

When I’m evaluating blush, I look at two main traits. The first is, does it actually blend easily? There’s nothing worse than having to pull and scrape my cheek in an effort to diffuse the lines. It should sink in, making it impossible to tell where the makeup starts and stops. This product excels in that arena—it’s so easy to diffuse that I would feel 100 percent confident applying it in the back of a car without a mirror. The second thing I look for is the staying power. Often, blushes with a more natural vibe get eaten up within a few hours, leaving my face looking colorless by the early afternoon. I was very pleased to see that in my midday check-in, the color remained, and my cheeks looked just as hydrated and bouncy as they did in the morning.

I’m genuinely very impressed by this launch. Very few launches actually become staples in my routine (I’m a beauty editor who tests a ton), but I’ve been consistently reaching for this since I got my hands on it. And frankly, when the Posh Spice hand delivers you a blush, well, it gets some brownie points.

On Sunday night, some of Broadway's biggest and brightest gathered at Radio City Music Hall in New York City for the 79th Tony Awards, but before they took the stage to perform, present, and take home the coveted statues, all of the attendees walked the red carpet in the exact type of over-the-top glam you'd come to expect from a bunch of theater stars.

ICYMI: Ponytails are getting a major upgrade this year. The Color Purple alum, Danielle Brooks, spiced up her sleek ponytail by giving it the Barbie treatment with a light flip at the ends. Megan Thee Stallion

It's a red nail summer, and even Dylan Mulvaney agrees. The influencer stepped out last night wearing a bright, cherry red manicure to go with her sparkly red, mesh gown.

I’m picky about pretty much every single item in my beauty routine (it’s my job to have a strong opinion), but I’m extra particular when it comes to mascara. I expect zero clumping, no irritation (chronic dry eye and allergy sufferer), no running, long-lasting results, volume, length, and definition. It shouldn’t be too much to ask for (!!). And yet, I find fault with almost every single one that hits my desk. They either look heavy and thick, give me raccoon eyes the second my eyes water, or flake off onto my under-eyes by three pm. My gripes with the mascara market, however, are exactly what make Merit’s new drop so beyond exciting.

Well, almost everyone. I had the privilege of securing an advanced sample last week and have been diligently testing this formula. Being a beauty editor has its perks. My honest thoughts on the formula—including how it stacks up against my other favorite mascaras—ahead.

The Formula

First and foremost, this is a tubing formula. For the unitiatied, unlike a regular mascara that coats lashes in waxes and oils to build volume and length, a tubing formula “uses polymers that will form little tubes to envelope the lashes and provide a volumized look,” cosmetic chemist Ginger King previously explained to Marie Claire. They are generally better for sensitive eyes (hence my obsession) and result in cylindrical tubes that rinse off with just a bit of water. That being said, they’re typically better at lengthening than volumizing and don’t prioritize locking in a curl.

That’s where Merit’s launch brings something new to market. The brand worked with a cutting-edge Japanese lab to ensure this formula helped lift and densify even thin, short lashes. “Instead of following the traditional beauty industry playbook, we set out to create something different: a volumizing mascara that delivers impact through precision—not excess. The result isn’t heavy, overdone lashes,” says Aila Morin, Merit’s Chief Marketing Officer. “It’s our take on volume—clean, defined, and lifted.”

The Application

The first thing I noticed when I unboxed this mascara was how narrow and slender the wand was. Typically, when a mascara claims to volumize, you’ll find a dense, bushy brush—they’re good for ensuring every lash gets an even coat. But Merit’s Clean Volume brush is this antithesis. It’s delicate—similar to what I look for when I want a mascara exclusively for my bottom lashes. But as soon as I started applying it, I noticed the benefit. The brush is easier to maneuver and doesn’t obstruct my view in the mirror, so I’m able to get the wand very close to my lash lines, which results in a darker finish and more intense payoff. It also has defined bristles that function similarly to a comb, separating each lash as I pull the wand through to the top.

After one coat, my length was maximized. But it wasn’t until the second that I really noticed the volumizing powers in action. It thickened each individual lash, making my overall appearance fuller, denser, and more dramatic. Even with the added thickness though, there wasn’t a clump in sight; every lash stayed in its own lane.

The Takeaway

Application time is honestly less than half the battle when searching for the perfect mascara. The real test is at the end of the day. Did it smudge? Are there flakes? Do I have smudges and raccoon eyes? Are my eyeballs bright red from irritation? When I got home after a long day at the beach—with salt water and humid, sticky weather—to find that my eye makeup looked very much intact, I was genuinely shocked.

It’s also worth shouting out that this does a better job at curling my lashes than any of my other go-to tubing mascaras. Normally, I have to layer mascaras to get this kind of lift and length, but this was such a hardworking multitasker that, between the brush and formula, I was one-and-done. In short, it’s the Goldilocks of tubing mascaras.
