Two of Europe’s most fashion-forward royals joined forces on Monday, June 1 in Madrid, Spain—and Queen Letizia showed how summer styling is done.

The Spanish queen beat the heat in a white linen dress as she joined King Felipe and Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the first diplomatic mission between their two countries.

Letizia's cap-sleeved dress by Mantú was perfect for early June dressing with its twirly skirt and breezy fabric. But she gave her linen dress an edgy touch with the addition of bold gold jewelry by Spanish brand Suma Cruz.

Letizia wore the label’s Acacia Bracelet wrapped around her arm, with the leaflike gold design inspired by the acacia trees common in Spain. The queen added Suma Cruz’s matching earrings and a gold clutch by Magrit, per Royal Fashion Police.

As for Princess Charlene, she had a Cinderella moment in a new pale blue lace dress by Oscar de la Renta. The sleeveless, belted design featured a floral lace pattern and a romantic skirt, and she finished off her look with Gianvito Rossi slingbacks in a similar icy blue shade.

Princess Charlene's trip to Spain comes after French Mother's Day, which took place on Sunday, May 31. She shared a special photo of herself with her 11-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, for the occasion, with all three coordinating in ivory outfits.

Princess Charlene and Prince Albert of Monaco are raising 11-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. In honor of Monaco's Mother's Day on May 31, 2026, the Monégasque royal family shared a new photo of Charlene with the two children, along with a lovely message.

The palace captioned the sweet Instagram photo, "Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!"

In the picture, Charlene coordinated with the twins, with all three wearing white for the occasion. Both Charlene and Albert have opened up about their children in interviews throughout the years.

In 2021, Prince Albert told People, "In very broad terms, Jacques is a little more shy and a little quieter, but he can also come up with some very funny things." Albert continued, "He's a great observer and loves to size up the situation. Then he'll go for it."

The prince described his daughter Gabriella as "a little more outgoing, and she definitely has the gift of gab." He continued, "She's just a character who loves to dance and to sing...She has no qualms about being in front of people."

Meanwhile, Princess Charlene told Gala magazine in 2024, "Gabriella is very curious." The Olympian continued, "She is very intrigued by the world and life in general. She asks lots of questions and demands a lot of attention."

On March 29, Pope Leo XIV made his first papal visit to Monaco, where he was greeted by Prince Albert and Princess Charlene. The couple were joined by their twin children—Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. For the special occasion, Gabriella and Charlene wore coordinating white outfits, which only highlighted their resemblance to one another.

Albert and Charlene were photographed meeting Pope Leo outside on a red carpet. The princess wore a sleek white coat with a belted waist, paired with white pointed-toe pumps, to greet the pope.

Even when she’s dressed casually, you can count on Princess Charlene of Monaco to fly the flag for designer labels like Dior and Armani—and that extends to her kids, too. Princess Charlene and Prince Albert are the parents of 11-year-old twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, and the preteen princess added a luxe twist to her jeans and blazer at a rugby match over the weekend.

In addition to Prince William, Princess Kate, Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Monaco’s Prince Albert made an appearance at the annual event.

Albert’s glamorous wife, Princess Charlene, and their 11-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, didn’t make the trip to London, but he attended with Monaco’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Evelyne Genta.

The reason for Albert’s appearance at the multi-faith service is unclear, as Monaco isn’t a member of the Commonwealth of Nations and non-British royals don’t typically attend the event. In fact, there are no well-documented examples of royals from a non-Commonwealth nation ever attending the annual service.

Prince Albert, who is a distant cousin of Queen Elizabeth’s, has maintained a longstanding friendship with the British Royal Family, especially with King Charles. Ahead of The King's coronation, Albert told People his friend was "a most patient man" as well as "a very educated man and someone with a great sense of humor."

And in June, Albert teamed up with Prince William at the Blue Economy And Finance Forum in Monaco, where the Prince of Wales delivered a keynote speech ahead of World Oceans Day.

The two royals share a passion for protecting the environment, and they reunited at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, held in November in Brazil, where the Prince of Wales hosted the 2025 Earthshot Prize. Prince Albert also attended the 2023 Earthshot Summit in New York, joining William to help tackle issues such as climate change.

For women who have access to any brand in the world, Ellis says “it’s really humbling” to see royals and celebrities carrying her brand. “Every time I’m like oh my gosh, it’s surreal,” she tells Marie Claire.

Ellis says the impact of royals wearing her bags can’t be understated. “It really amplifies the footprint of the brand,” she shares. The designer points to Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan’s 2023 wedding—when Princess Beatrice carried her Lee 'Pouchet' Clutch in champagne satin—as a moment that drew international attention to her company.

“To me, that was a fairytale princess moment,” she says. “And everyone was there. It helps when a new person coming to learn about the brand can see ‘Wow, Princess Beatrice carried this to the royal wedding.’ It really helps with trust of the brand.”

When asked what makes royal women carry Tyler Ellis, the designer explains that her “simple, clean” bags “really can play the second-tier role to the gown.”

“It doesn’t steal the thunder, but it’s a perfect complement,” she adds of her evening bags. “It sits well in the hand, it holds everything that you would want for a cocktail party.”

On that note, Ellis says that “as a woman designing for women” she tries to “think about every practical aspect of the bag while keeping it minimal.” This means enough room to hold your phone and essentials for an evening out while not compromising on style.

Royal women typically favor classic designs over excessively trendy looks, and Ellis tells Marie Claire that this "timeless" philosophy ties in with her own, as she’s “never really been about the trend.”

“My father was the American designer Perry Ellis, and looking back at his designs, you could wear them today,” she shares. “He passed away in 1986, and you could still wear what he was creating back in the ‘70s and ‘80s, which I love. And I think it’s really important as a brand to have your legacy carry on.”

Reflecting on this timeless appeal, the fashion expert shares that Princess Kate “has always been one of the most elegant women that I’ve ever seen.” She notes that as the Princess of Wales has grown into her role, there’s more of a “confidence and understated elegance that is just making her presence stronger and stronger every day.”

Ellis calls Princess Kate’s style “approachable, but understated,” adding, “I just feel this confidence coming with her.”

While Ellis has accessorized a number of Hollywood stars, she tells Marie Claire that it’s different working with royal women. “One thing I do love about the royals is they typically do carry a clutch or handbag, where in Hollywood—we do a lot with red carpets—we have to beg them to hold the bag.”

She also notes that for royal women, a handbag is “more of a practical choice.” For a celebrity, it’s more of a “show-stopping” piece versus “practical functionality.”

As for what’s next for the label, Ellis says she’s working on evolving outside of her signature clutches. The designer explains that she “tended to design small, kind of beautiful little gems,” but now that she’s a mother, she’s “working on larger, a little bit softer, more wearable pieces."

“Something where you can throw stuffed animals or airplanes or whatever in your bag when you’re out with your child,” she adds. Princess Kate, take note.

Princess Charlene has spoken about her experience raising royal twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, with husband Prince Albert on multiple occasions. Princess Charlene has shown off plenty of hair transformations since her royal wedding. The princess chopped her hair into a pixie cut in 2012, favoring various short cuts for years and even wearing an edgy, partially shaved style in 2020.

As for Wednesday's event, numerous members of Monaco's royal family attended the opening, including Princess Stephanie, along with her daughter, Camille Gottlieb, and her son, Louis Ducruet, who is married to Marie.

Since moving to Paris from Toronto this past July, I’ve had to add an entirely new—previously nonexistent—category of clothing to my wardrobe: fall-spring outerwear.

No, seriously. For years, I’ve maintained that trenches and other so-called "transitional jackets" are folklore in Toronto. They’re chic and photograph well, but functionally, they’re useless. Toronto doesn’t transition: one day it’s winter, the next it’s summer, with perhaps two weeks of temperate weather wedged in between.

However, the weather here in Paris is much milder than what I’ve been conditioned to expect for most of my life. Toronto taught me to dress defensively, but Paris weather demands adaptability. Where I once relied on thick wool knits and heavy coats, I’ve had to switch up my layering strategy and invest in lightweight fabrics.

By far, the hero piece of my new temperate wardrobe is the double-faced wool jacket, which I can comfortably wear in Paris for at least six months out of the year.

Take, for example, this old 100 percent wool jacket from Zara that I used to wear once a year back in Toronto. In Paris, it’s in constant rotation, including on this mid-January day (over layers, of course) with temperatures hovering in the high single-digits.

Even on cooler days, a double-faced wool jacket layered over another wool sweater and a simple tee is surprisingly, almost suspiciously, warm. Add a scarf and a hat, and the problem is no longer staying warm, but overheating.

Because double-faced wool jackets aren’t bulky, they don’t read as "outerwear" in the traditional sense, and I often walk into restaurants and cafes and simply leave them on. The jacket becomes the outfit, as is the case with this By Malene Birger hourglass blazer, yet another 100 percent wool option that straddles the line between coat and clothing with ease.

Transitional outerwear, I’ve learned, isn’t a myth. Rather, it’s regional knowledge—one I didn’t need until I crossed an ocean!

Princess Charlene and Prince Albert joined family and friends to open a very special indoor playground, alongside two of the youngest members of Monaco’s royal family. Princess Stéphanie’s daughter-in-law, Marie Ducruet, created the play space to bring families together in a beautiful, child-friendly environment. The indoor playground features “a play structure, a mini-city, a motor skills zone for babies, reading and construction areas, and a family café.”

“Imagined by two young mothers and friends, Marie Ducruet and Elise Rouillard, this warm and secure space aims to stimulate the awakening, creativity and curiosity of children,” Monaco’s Royal Family shared on Instagram. Louis and Marie Ducruet’s children, Victoire and Constance, were the first to explore the new facility. The two little girls enjoyed exploring the beautiful play space. “Our dream was to create a kind of stroller café, an indoor playground like they have in Dubai, Paris or New York,” Marie Ducruet told the Monaco Tribune.

The daughter-in-law of Monaco's princess explained that her new business reflects her “search for a balance” between her professional dream and her “life as a mother.” She shared an honest glimpse at their family life and her day-to-day as a member of the royal family, but it doesn’t look too different from a normal working mother. She discussed her busy days of balancing it all, saying “in the morning I look after the girls, then I go to work, then I pick them up for our family time, and go back to work in the evening in my office."

Princess Charlene’s 11-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, may be too old for the new play facility, but it was nice to see the Monegasque royal family supporting each other. Princess Stéphanie, who was also in attendance at today's grand opening, is Prince Albert’s sister, which makes Marie Ducruet the sovereign’s niece-in-law. The Monegasque royal family appears to be very close, coming together for major holidays and celebrating each other’s achievements, like business openings, fashion shows, and other major projects.

When it comes to the Royal Family's influence on the fashion world, Meghan Markle and Princess Kate continue to dominate. However, according to a new report, one Royal Family member spent the most money on new clothing in 2025, and it wasn't Kate or Meghan.

Sarah Williams of UFO No More recently shared the site's annual "Royal Fashion Watching" round-up, which investigated how much money royals from all over the world had spent on clothing in 2025. In total, UFO No More's list of 20 royal women spent a collective €1,630,579.66 [approximately $1,912,278.59] on new clothing last year. A total of 1,464 items were identified by the site's savvy experts, while "308 pieces...remain UFO [Unidentified Fashion Objects] or are custom pieces." Per Williams, some outfits remained unidentified if it wasn't possible to learn the designer responsible for an item.

Beating Meghan and Kate to the top spot is Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece, who reportedly spent €246,614.56 [approximately $289,197.23] on clothing in 2025 alone. As Princess Maria-Olympia works as a model, her proclivity for designer outfits makes total sense.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, Princess Charlene of Monaco nabbed second place, reportedly spending €244,483.94 [approximately $286,717.06] on new clothing, according to UFO No More. With a penchant for Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, and Zimmermann, Princess Charlene's spot on the list is to be expected.

Meghan Markle took third place with a reported tally of €168,094.50 [approximately $197,140.68] for new wardrobe items. Unexpectedly, Princess Kate placed seventh on the list, behind Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, Zara Tindall, and the Duchess of Edinburgh. Still, the Princess of Wales reportedly spent around €82,238.34 [approximately £96,452.03] on the contents of her closet.

Regardless of their financial outlay, it goes without saying that Kate, Meghan, and all of the other royals on the list will continue to inspire style the world over.

It's been a busy month of holiday-themed events for Monaco's royal family, and they kept the festive fun going with the annual Christmas Tree Ceremony and gift distribution for Monégasque children on December 17. Prince Albert and Princess Charlene brought their 11-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, to enjoy the festivities, and while the kids are typically often seen in more formal attire, they dressed down in jeans and designer coats for the event.

Princess Gabriella recently wore head-to-toe Dior at another Christmas outing with her family, but on Wednesday, she went casual in a tan faux fur jacket by Emporio Armani Kids, a cream turtleneck and a pair of medium-wash blue jeans with tan boots.

Jacques, who is the heir to Monaco's throne, coordinated with his twin in a padded $649 beige jacket by Eleventy Kids, per fashion blog UFO No More, pairing it with dark-wash jeans, a white Brunello Cucinelli sweater and a pair of gray sneakers.

As for mom Princess Charlene, she wore the same cashmere Akris coat she debuted at the 2023 Christmas gift distribution party and like Gabriella, sported a cream turtleneck sweater. According to the palace, the tradition dates back to 1949 with Prince Albert's father, Prince Rainier III's, accession to the throne. "On the agenda of this enchanted afternoon: meeting with Santa Claus, artistic activities and tasting of sweets, for the greatest happiness of the little guests," the royal family posted on Instagram.

"They had Thanksgiving luncheons either at the Hotel de Paris or in another location, and so we would participate in that."

However, the prince shared that turkey was then considered an unusual dish in Monaco. "Turkey wasn't common on European tables," he said. "We had turkey in the '60s and '70s because these organizations which had links with the U.S., of course. But it was virtually unknown in France and there was very little of it."

Princess Charlene of Monaco has made a major announcement about a previously planned international trip. Rather than traveling to Japan with husband Prince Albert, and their 10-year-old twins, Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, Charlene has shared a press release revealing why she's been forced to "drop out" of the trip.

Per a press release from Monaco's Royal Family, "H.S.H. Prince Albert Il will travel to Japan on the occasion of Monaco's National Day, celebrated on June 28, 2025, as part of the World Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai." The press release further explained that Albert would instead be accompanied by his sister, Princess Stéphanie, her three children—Louis Ducruet, Pauline Ducruet, and Camille Gottlieb, as well as Louis's wife, Marie Ducruet.

As for why Albert's wife and children needed to cancel their involvement in the trip, the press release stated, "H.S.H. Princess Charlene was due to accompany H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince of Monaco to Japan, together with Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. In light of current events taking place in the Middle East, this has led to the decision that H.S.H. Princess Charlene and the Princely children would not be participating in this trip."

As reported by People, despite Princess Charlene deciding to "drop out" of the trip, she still "wishe[d] to express her sincere thanks to the teams of the Monaco Pavilion, as well as to the partners and hosts who were to welcome her in Japan, for their understanding and ongoing commitment," per a press release.

Despite missing the trip to Japan, Princess Charlene is set to celebrate a special milestone with husband Prince Albert next month. The pair tied the knot in a civil ceremony on July 1, 2011, meaning 2025 marks their 14th wedding anniversary.

If Jacques and Gabriella's appearance at Saturday's official engagement is any indication, Monaco's royal twins might start taking part in even more important events alongside their parents.

Wearing black and a veil has become optional since the '80s, but most royals prefer to follow the tradition.

However, Princess Charlene is one of seven women in the entire world who are allowed to wear white to meet the pope. Known as "il privilegio del bianco" or "the privilege of the white," the royal rule allows Catholic royal women to wear white during papal events.

Since Monaco is a Catholic country, Princess Charlene has been extended the privilege to wear white. She's joined by Queen Mathilde of Belgium, former Queen Paolo of Belgium, Queen Letizia of Spain, the former Queen Sofia of Spain, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg and the princesses of the House of Savoy.

Although these queens and princesses are permitted to wear white, that doesn't mean they're required to do so; Charlene has worn black to meet with the pope, like she did during a 2022 visit.

And even though Queen Camilla wasn't allowed to sport the shade for her papal visit, she made a romantic style statement the same day by re-wearing the white outfit she wore for her 2005 civil wedding ceremony to The King.

Little did they know that nearly a century later, a little princess and her twin brother would be recreating the scene.

It's my personal favorite card to see each year, but for 2024, the Prince Albert and Princess Charlene took quite the departure from their usual Christmas greeting.

On Monday, Dec. 2, the Prince's Palace released the royal family's official card, and this year, they're dressed in...beige sweaters? It's certainly a different look for the couple, who posed with their adorable 9-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, in front of a fireplace while wearing neutral tones.

True to form, Princess Charlene did add some sparkle to her attire, wearing a brown turtleneck with hints of glitter in its knit fabric, but her choice of brown jeans was certainly not her usual Christmas vibe. For the special occasion, Princess Charlene wore a bespoke Louis Vuitton lilac trouser suit, which she accessorized with a black fascinator and black pumps.

Royal fans immediately spotted that Charlene was also wearing her stunning engagement ring from Prince Albert. The Princess rarely wears any jewelry on her fingers, so the giant diamond stood out immediately.

According to engagement ring specialists at Steven Stone, the eye-catching ring features a 3 carat pear-cut diamond, which is "flanked by smaller diamonds in triangle arrangements." Stone continued, "It may come as a surprise to hear that the Princess rarely wears her sparkler, but this could be for a range of reasons—from discomfort as a result of its sizeable center stone, to concern about damaging it." The expert alluded to Kate Middleton, who also doesn't wear her engagement ring, which once belonged to Princess Diana, all of the time.

As for how much the incredible ring is worth, Stone estimated the cost as being around $65,000.

Despite having retired from her sporting success, Charlene has always attempted to remain fit and healthy. "I walk, I cycle, I swim too, but not as much as before," she told Gala. "I don’t practise swimming as intensely as in the past. When I was young, I trained very hard, I challenged myself physically. These days, it’s all about moderation."

Prince Albert's wife also reflected on how she's changed and evolved as she has aged. Now 47, the royal explained, "It can be quite difficult because my nature is to want to beat records, win medals and surpass my limits." She continued, "But, at nearly 47 years old, I can no longer do that… my body won’t let me. My spirit and my heart might, but my body says no!"

However, Charlene definitely experienced the negative side of pursuing her elite sporting ability as a child. "I was first and foremost an athlete," she told Gala. "I was training to take part in the Olympic Games. It was my goal. I sometimes felt a little isolated from other teenagers." As a result, she had little time for anything other than honing her swimming craft. "I devoted all my days, weeks, and years to being at the top of my game."

Ultimately, Princess Charlene has grown comfortable with getting older. "I think you need to accept it [aging]," she explained. "Chasing after eternal youth is an illusion. I simply try and stay as young as possible in my body and in my heart."

As the controversy surrounding Jordan Chiles and her Olympics bronze medal continues, one avid Paris 2024 Summer Games fan is stepping up and letting the gymnast know that she's a champion, no matter what.

On Monday, Aug. 12, the rapper and reality television star revealed the custom bronze clock necklace he made for Chiles, who was recently tripped of her Olympics bronze medal after securing third place in the women's final floor competition.

"USA gonna Fight the Powers that be,,, in the meantime between time,,,
Imma always a man of my word @ChilesJordan," the Olympics aficionado posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, along with a video of the custom necklace in all its sparkling, breathtaking bronze glory.

Jordan's mom, Gina Chiles, responded to the rapper, expressing both her and her daughter's gratitude for the love and support.

"Thank you. Means the world," the proud mom posted on X, quote-tweeting Favor Flav's initial post. "She's not on socials right now as you can imagine. I'll share it with her."

As Marie Claire previously reported, on Saturday, Aug. 10, five days after the women's final floor competition, the International Olympic Committee (IO) announced that a judge from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) determined that Chiles has been incorrectly awarded third place.

Initially, Chiles finished fifth in the competition with a score of 13.666, NBC reported at the time. Shortly after, Chiles' coach "filed an inquiry into the calculation of her difficulty score," according to the news outlet, which was ultimately accepted and increased Chiles' score to 13.766, which bumped her up to third place to secure the bronze medal.

Two Romanian gymnasts—Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Manexa-Voinea—appealed the decision to accept the inquiry, arguing that it was filed too late to be received.

According to NBC, the CAS decided the inquiry did indeed come "after the required time frame of one minute." According to NBC News, Chiles' inquiry was submitted one minute and four seconds after her routine, and the CAS ultimately ordered Chiles to return her bronze medal.

In a statement provided to NBC, the IOC said the organization is "in touch with the NOC of Romania to discuss the reallocation ceremony and with USOPC regarding the return of the bronze medal."

After Chiles was stripped of her medal, Flavor Flav posted on X a promise to make her a bronze clock necklace...something nobody else in the world can say they have.

"Ayyy YOOOO @ChilesJordan ,,, imma make you a BRONZE CLOCK NECKLACE,,, and that’s something NO ONE else has,!!! Hit me up my girl,,, I gotchu,!!!" Flav posted on X.

Clearly, he followed through on his promise.

Of course (and thankfully), Flavor Flav is not the only person fighting for Chiles to have her bronze medal (or a bronze clock).

Shortly after the CAS's ruling, USA Gymnastics announced it would appeal the decision, citing video evidence the organization said proved the inquiry was submitted in time.

"The video footage provided was not available to USA Gymnastics prior to the tribunal’s decision and thus USAG did not have the opportunity to previously submit it," the organization announced, going on to request that the "ruling be revised and Chiles’ bronze-medal score of 13.766 reinstated."

On Monday, Aug. 12, USA Gymnastics announced that the appeal they made to the CAS for Chiles to be handed back the medal was denied.

"We are deeply disappointed by the notification and will continue to pursue every possible avenue and appeal process," the oganization added, "including to the Swiss Federal Tribunal, to ensure the just scoring, placement, and medal award for Jordan."

The 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony in Paris has attracted a plethora of celebrities, including royal family members from all over the globe. Princess Charlene of Monaco was in attendance alongside her husband, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and the pair posed for photos in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Prior to attending the glamorous Opening Ceremony, which included performances by Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, the Monagasque royals joined a reception for Heads of State held at Elysse Palace. Despite the downpour, Princess Charlene was in extremely good spirits, and was photographed laughing in the audience. Even though her chic Louis Vuitton jumpsuit got a little wet, Charlene's enviable style was on full display throughout the event. Of course, Princess Charlene is known for having one of the sexiest royal wardrobes in the world, so her appearance at the 2024 Olympics was totally on form.

After facing health issues stemming from a serious ENT (ears, nose and throat) infection, Princess Charlene took an extended break from royal life in 2021. In an interview with Nice Matin on May 25, 2022, Charlene addressed the terrible rumors that spread when she stepped back from her royal role for a period of time.

Charlene missed the Rose Ball last year, and Albert was joined by his sister, Princess Caroline of Hanover, who was, too, at the affair—more on her in a moment. Charlene dressed in Elie Saab for the occasion, “wearing a silver and rose-pink jumpsuit which glittered spectacularly,” Tatler writes. “Its glittery fabric was decorated with stripe motifs and complete with a plunging neckline and a fabric waist tie.” (The blog “Royal Couturier” noted that Charlene attended the party sans the ensemble’s cape component.)

Caroline wore a glittering black gown, cinched at the waist and with a skirt that gathered around her feet. Caroline’s gown also had a plunging neckline, and she too arrived holding a bouquet of flowers similar to her sister-in-law’s, complete with a peppering of disco balls. Caroline’s daughter Charlotte wore a silver sequin and silk dress paired with delicate diamond jewelry.

Charlotte has previously attended the Rose Ball with her husband, the French film producer Dimitri Rassam, but arrived solo this year as she and Rassam split two months ago after four years of marriage. Paris Match reports that Charlotte is dating again, evidenced by photos of Charlotte and writer Nicolas Mathieu taking a romantic stroll through the streets of the City of Lights before sitting on the terrace of a local café to enjoy a coffee.

The Rose Ball was established by Princess Grace of Monaco—formerly the Academy Award-winning actress Grace Kelly prior to marrying Monaco’s Prince Rainier in 1956—and the event now raises money for her charitable foundation following her death in a car accident in 1982. (It is named after her favorite flower, and the Princess Grace Foundation helps raise money for the next generation of performers to get their start in the arts, honoring Grace’s successful career in Hollywood.) “Each year, it sees the Monegasque royal family hosting the glamorous and the good from around the globe, with a special theme dictating the dress code,” Tatler reports.

Around 800 guests are typically invited to the party annually, which is chaired by Rainier and Grace’s eldest child, Caroline, each year.

Princess Charlene of Monaco was absent from her royal duties for the past year due to a series of health concerns. Having returned to public life on April 30, 2022, the princess gave an interview to Nice Matin on May 25, in which she addressed what her recent experiences have been like for her.

The royal was forced to stay in South Africa, where she had gone on a trip, for eight months due to an ENT (ears, nose and throat) infection. There, she was operated twice under general anesthetic, before being allowed back to Monaco in November. Unfortunately, though, she then had to undergo further treatment for exhaustion in Switzerland, only returning once and for all to Monaco in mid-March.

While she was away, rumors were rife about the princess and her husband Albert II's private life. Asked about these in vague terms, Charlene responded straightforwardly (according to one translation, amended by yours truly for grammar and clarity), "You mean the divorce rumors or my new home in Switzerland... The royal also addressed how she feels now that she's back home. The road has been long, difficult, and so painful. Today I feel calmer."

Charlene spoke about her daughter Gabriella as well, with whom she attended the Monte-Carlo Fashion Week, describing her kid's blooming relationship with fashion. "Gabriella, like all little girls her age, loves princess dresses, doing her hair and even trying on my lipsticks," she said.
