The Spanish royal family is officially on their summer vacation, and they went for a matching moment while heading out to dinner in Palma de Mallorca, Spain over the weekend. Queen Letizia, King Felipe, Queen Sofia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia dressed in shades of blue and white for the evening on Sunday, August 9, and if Sofia’s dress looks familiar, it’s because both her sister and mother have worn the breezy style.

Infanta Sofia, 19, borrowed the off-the-shoulder dress that Princess Leonor wore to the 2025 summer reception at Marivent Palace—the same ruffled design Queen Letizia wore to the event in 2023.

Sofia’s white maxi dress, designed by Desigual x Stella Jean, featured a tiered skirt and a bright blue pattern, and she paired it with flat white espadrilles by Espadrilles Picón.

Big sister Leonor also wore shoes by the Spanish brand, choosing the same blue ankle-tie style she wore with Sofia’s dress last year.

As for the rest of the future Spanish queen’s outfit, Leonor debuted a blue swan-print halter dress by Spanish label Babbaki. Keeping the mother/daughter dressing theme in mind, she carried mom Queen Letizia’s pink Adolfo Domínguez leather clutch for their night out at Mia Restaurant.

Queen Letizia went classic in a sleeveless white dress and some new accessories, wearing crystal-adorned Pedro Garcia sandals and carrying a hand-woven Heimat Atlantica basket bag covered in floral-shaped shells.

Meanwhile, Queen Sofia, 87, wore a navy striped top and matching trousers, toting a tiny Loewe Macro Mini Amazona Bag, per UFO No More.

Queen Letizia and her daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia have always shown off a more relaxed style than their British counterparts, and they put some colorful resort wear on display in Palma de Mallorca, Spain on August 4. Princess Leonor, who is heir to the Spanish throne, looked ready for vacation in a tie-dye set by Thinking Mu, wearing what appears to be the same red top she chose for a Bad Bunny concert earlier this summer with a matching maxi skirt.

She kept the laid-back energy going with mermaid-like hair, braided Sezane sandals and a chunky gold cuff—and little sister Sofia went for a similar look as the future queen.

Infanta Sofia also leaned into tie-dye, wearing a flowing white maxi dress by Italian label Momonì with a fuchsia print. Like her sister, she accented her outfit with gold accessories, choosing a pair of metallic flats by Pedro García, a sun-patterned Zara chain belt and a gold arm cuff by Apodemia.

“This summer, women are choosing pieces with more scale,” jewelry expert Justin Daughters tells Marie Claire. “One strong cuff or armlet can shape the whole look without the need for several competing accessories.”

“For a lot of younger royals, this offers an alternative to formal heirloom jewelry we've seen,” Daughters, who is an antique and vintage jewellery expert and managing director at Berganza, adds. “A diamond suite or important royal necklace would have changed the mood of the reception entirely.”

“These gold pieces still have enough presence for an official occasion, but they feel younger and less ceremonial,” he continues.

As for Queen Letizia, she's also embraced the arm cuff trend lately, but for the summer reception, she skipped a bold bangle and went for a little white dress by Sybilla with minimal accessories.

Although she typically wears espadrilles, the Spanish queen coordinated with her daughters in a pair of gold Aquazzura sandals, pairing them with diamond crawler earrings by Gold & Roses and two understated gold rings.

The Spanish royal family has been a major part of the celebrations after Spain’s team won in the World Cup final against Argentina on Sunday, July 19. King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia coordinated in red and white outfits at Sunday’s final, and the princesses made sure to roll out the red carpet—and wear their best soccer gear—to welcome the victorious squad to Zarzuela Palace on July 20.

Dressed in matching white Spain away jerseys and white trousers, the sisters posed in front of the gold FIFA World Cup Trophy as their father gave a speech to welcome the team. The Spanish royals can't resist an espadrille, and while Queen Letizia wore one of her signature pairs of summer shoes, Sofia and Leonor both went sporty in sneakers.

Little sister Sofia chose a pair of white sneakers by MUthebrand, but future queen Leonor added a pop of pastel pink with a new pair of Puma Speedcat OG unisex sneakers.

The $100 suede style features the brand’s distinctive cat logo and a white swirl across the side. Although they might not seem like the first choice to go with a red and white jersey, the pale color acts as a neutral in this case—think of them as a more fun version of ivory.

As the future queen of Spain, Princess Leonor has been giving speeches since she was just 13, and there was no one better to be on hand to support her younger sister as she marked her own royal milestone. Infanta Sofia, 18, made her first official royal speech on July 8, and big sister Leonor made a surprise appearance in Zaragoza, Spain along with parents Queen Letizia and King Felipe.

As honorary president of the nonprofit Ibercaja Foundation, Sofia gave a speech at the Monastery of Nuestra Señora de Cogullada, and her family put on a united front in smart trouser suits.

Per Royal Fashion Police on Instagram, Princess Leonor went for an affordable blue Easy Wear outfit from Spanish department store El Corte Inglés, wearing a $45 linen vest with a belted waist and matching blue wide-legged trousers retailing for just $41.

Princess Leonor wore her hair back in a neat braid, accessorizing with silver earrings, a Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti Open Heart pendant and a new striped clutch by Spanish brand Abbacino.

She added something borrowed and blue to her look, wearing the same pair of blue Alhamas espadrilles that Infanta Sofia previously wore to see the "Barbie" movie in 2023.

Meanwhile, Sofia chose a classic white trouser suit by Woman Unlimited, also available at El Corte Inglés, pairing her blazer and loose linen trousers with black Magrit slingback flats. Like her sister, she wore her hair in a braided style, pulling her long locks half back with a thick braid trailing down one side.

She might only be 20, but Princess Leonor of Spain has a sparkling future ahead as the country’s heir to the throne. Leonor is currently undergoing her final year of military training in the Spanish armed forces, and on March 4, her grandmother, Queen Sofia, showed off a symbolic brooch that nods to their shared naval heritage.

Sofia recently returned to duties after the death of sister, Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark, and while visiting Madrid’s Naval Museum she wore a sentimental diamond brooch. Justin Daughters, managing director at Berganza, says that while Queen Sofia “has long mastered the art of jewelry diplomacy,” this particular piece delivers “a deeply personal message.”

The yellow gold and diamond design, which Sofia received during her travels on the naval training ship Elcano, “forms a bowline knot, a symbol of reliability and enduring bonds,” per the jewelry expert. Accented with a diamond-studded “S” for her name, the brooch also “incorporates a series of enameled flags from the International Code of Signals, spelling out Elcano”—the same ship where Leonor recently took part in her own military training.

“What makes this brooch moment particularly poignant is the layers of history it represents,” Daughters says. Along with Queen Sofia and Princess Leonor, Sofia’s son, King Felipe, also traveled on the Elcano for his naval training.

“By wearing it now, following Princess Leonor’s own time aboard the ship last year, the Queen is effectively 'passing the baton' of tradition to the future Queen of Spain,” the jewelry professional adds.

After completing the naval portion of her studies last year, Princess Leonor is now in the final stages of her military training with the Spanish Air Force. Leonor, who is known as the Princess of Asturias, will have taken part in all branches of the country’s armed forces in preparation to become commander-in-chief one day.

As for Queen Sofia, her brooch proved to be the perfect choice for a visit to the Naval museum while quietly honoring her family heritage. Daughters notes that pieces like Sofia’s brooch “are quiet storytelling objects” that “allow royals to acknowledge family milestones, heritage and personal relationships without saying a word.”

Princess Leonor looked every inch the future queen as she celebrated a major military occasion in Madrid, Spain on Tuesday, January 6—and her proud parents were right by her side.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia were joined by their eldest daughter to mark Military Easter, the official start of the military year, at the palace. As the heir to the throne, 20-year-old Leonor is known as the Princess of Asturias, and she's been training with the Spanish Armed Forces since 2023 in preparation for her future role as commander-in-chief.

As a member of the Armed Forces, Leonor wore a blue military uniform like her father's for the event, pairing it with a pale blue sash designating the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Charles III. The Princess of Asturias balanced her buttoned-up uniform with glowing pink makeup, wearing rosy eyeshadow that made her blue eyes pop.

She added a hint of pink to her cheeks, wearing a pale blush color on her lips and pulling her hair back in a braided bun. Princess Leonor finished off her outfit with a pair of tiny diamond studs and white gloves.

Tuesday marked Princess Leonor's third time at the annual event, joining her parents for her debut at Military Easter in 2024 once she began training with the Army. The Princess of Asturias is receiving training with each branch of the military in order to expose her to all facets of the Spanish Armed Forces.

As for Queen Letizia, she kept her outfit classic in black and white, wearing a pleated Nina Ricci blouse and a black maxi skirt by the designer. The Spanish queen added some extra glamour once outside, bundling up in a black fur coat.

Queen Letizia has some seriously enviable style, so it's no wonder that her eldest daughter, Princess Leonor, looks up to her royal mom in the fashion department. She recently borrowed the Spanish queen's diamond drop earrings while also wearing a Letizia-approved power suit, and on Monday, August 4, the 19-year-old Princess of Asturias dipped into mom's closet once again.

Like Duchess Sophie, the Spanish royal women are fans of a good espadrille wedge, and Queen Letizia wore a gold leather Calzados Picon style while Infanta Sofía chose the same pair of beige Macarena Java34 Wedges she and her big sister have both worn on a number of occasions.

Sofía paired her espadrilles with a pink tie-dyed Zara dress, while Queen Letizia went for a classic white sun dress by Spanish brand Tony Bonet.

Although the Spanish royal family is enjoying their summer break in Mallorca, Princess Leonor has kept plenty busy lately. In July, she returned from a six-month voyage on a Spanish Navy training ship—part of her three-year-long military training—and she hopped right back into royal appearances.

She's since attended the Princess of Girona Awards, the Copa Del Rey Mapfre Sailing Cup and a movie screening in Mallorca, along with traveling to Switzerland to watch the women's Euro final against England with Prince William and Princess Charlotte.

The 19-year-old future queen of Spain, Princess Leonor, and her 18-year-old sister, Infanta Sofía, sat in the stands next to William and Charlotte as they cheered for their respective countries in Basel, Switzerland. The foursome also gathered for a group photo, which Prince William shared on Instagram and wrote, "Bring on the second half! May the best team win, @casareal.es!"

The Prince of Wales added a shaking hands emoji in between an English flag and a Spanish flag to represent their friendship. The Lionesses went on to win 3-1, and Prince William and a delighted Princess Charlotte took to the field to celebrate with the team.

Princess Charlotte repeated the same navy polka dot dress she wore to Wimbledon in 2024 for her sporty outing, while the Spanish royals both wore white tanks and matching pants with lightweight blazers.

Princess Leonor—who has been on a suit streak lately—wore a pinstriped blue Ralph Lauren jacket, while her little sister wore a beige linen blazer. The sisters are Queen Letizia and King Felipe's only children, and Leonor recently returned from a six-month sailing aboard a Spanish naval ship as she continues her three-year-long military training.

As for Princess Charlotte, this her second time attending a high-profile sporting event this month. Lies, deceit, and romance fill Netflix’s small-town drama, Ransom Canyon. Led by Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel as star-crossed lovers Quinn O’Grady and Staten Kirkland, the must-watch series follows three ranch families as industrialists looking to access a water pipeline pursue their land. The first season, which aired in spring 2025, concluded with a finale that left many questions open-ended, including the fate of the ranches and the status of the three central, thorny romantic relationships.

Is 'Ransom Canyon' renewed for season 2?

Netflix officially renewed Ransom Canyon for season 2 in late June 2025. When the news broke, showrunner April Blair shared a statement with Tudum: "I couldn’t be happier that Netflix is ready to get back in the saddle for Ransom Canyon...Our dreamy little corner of Texas Hill Country is full of stories still untold, and we can’t wait to bring them to our incredible fans. Get ready for another ride." We're ready to giddy up!

When will 'Ransom Canyon' season 2 come out?

Get ready for a very yeehaw summer because Ransom Canyon officially returns this July. In late April, the streamer confirmed via a press release that the second installment of its popular western will premiere on Thursday, July 23. Along with the news, Netflix shared a series of first-look photos, which you can see throughout this story.

Ransom Canyon season 2 filmed throughout fall 2025, just months after the series premiered in April 2025. And before that, season 1 was filmed between February and June 2024, before it premiered on streaming in April 2025. That makes sense both because of the show's relatively low production lift—and Netflix seems to have a taste for small-town dramas (see Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, etc.). We're glad we'll be home on the range again soon!

Who in the 'Ransom Canyon' cast will return for season 2?

Almost all of the major players will return for season 2. James Brolin, whose character Cap Fuller died in season 1, will not. Though Minka Kelly's character Quinn O'Grady ends the first batch of episodes as she sets out to play for the New York Philharmonic, the showrunner has confirmed she'll be back. (More on that below.) In addition to Kelly, we’ll be seeing more Josh Duhamel (Staten Kirland), Lizzy Greene (Lauren Brigman), Philip Winchester (Dan Brigman), Garrett Wareing (Lucas Russell), Marianly Tejada (Ellie Estevez), Jack Schumacher (Yancy Grey), and Justin Johnson Cortez (Kai Flores).

We'll be seeing even more of Casey W. Johnson, who plays Lucas's brother Kit Russell, since he has been promoted to a series regular, as reported by Deadline.

Two actors won't return: Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner, who played father and son Davis and Reid Collins. As fans may recall, Davis owns Bar W Ranch and feuded with Staten over both stakes to the land and Quinn's heart. Deadline reported that the actors won't return, but Netflix declined to comment. It's unclear whether their characters are being recast or written out entirely, but considering how large a role Davis played, signs point to someone else replacing Macken. We'll have to wait to hear more about what led to that decision, and who is joining the show instead.

Will there be new cast members in 'Ransom Canyon' season 2?

A second season of Ransom Canyon will also bring new characters into the fold. Fans will be most anxious to know who plays Yancy’s wife, who shockingly arrives in Ransom Canyon in the final moments of the season 1 finale. We didn't see her face at the time, but Heidi Engerman will portray her.

When the up-and-comer was cast, the showrunner told Deadline that fans can expect her to cause "a whole lot of trouble." She said, "There’s a lot of surprises for Yancy this season that are going to be super fun and a lot of stakes to his wife showing up...Can he get rid of her? Does he want to get rid of her? Why does he need to get rid of her? And it picks at his history a little too. We always alluded to Yancy having this grifter criminal past, and now the the context of that starts to come into focus with the wife’s arrival."

Yancy's wife won't be the only new addition to the cast: There's also a new love interest for Quinn. Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom, Vikings) will play Oliver, "a big-city love interest for Quinn." (It's safe to say things on the ranch will get complicated!)

We'll also meet Quinn's mother. In an exciting announcement, Deadline reported in late September 2025 that three-time Emmy winner and Oscar-nominated actress Patricia Clarkson (Six Feet Under, Sharp Objects) will play Claire O'Grady. There haven't been many details surrounding how she may shake things up, but we're looking forward to the icon gracing our screens.

Staten's family is expanding on screen, as well. In early November, Deadline reported that TV veteran Steve Howey (High Potential, Shameless, Reba) will play his half-brother, Levi. According to the outlet, Levi has been described as "a mountain man of sorts who lives off the land."

The series has already featured several Statens family members, from his father to his brother-in-law and nephew, so we'll have to see how Levi fits into the fold.

How does 'Ransom Canyon' season 1 end?

The finale of the Netflix western, titled “Maybe It’s Time Yancy Grey Dies Too,” ties up one major thread of the first season: Who is responsible for the death of Staten’s son Randall (Hubert Smielecki), who dies in a fatal car accident in the pilot? In the final two episodes of the first season, audiences find out that Margaret (Sarah Minnich), Lauren’s (Lizzy Greene) alcoholic mom and estranged wife of the local sheriff, Dan Brigman (Philip Winchester), was the perpetrator. She initially lets her lover Kit (Casey W. Johnson), Lucas’s brother, take the fall, but once Lauren finds out the truth, she urges her father to do the right thing and arrest Margaret for the crime.

But there are still quite a few other plotlines that leave us wanting more. Outside of romantic entanglements, the biggest question mark is the status of the war between the ranch owners and those in collusion with Austin Water & Power, who want to gain control of the land to access a water pipeline. This has put brothers-in-law Davis and Staten at odds because Davis, who is secretly in debt, wants to cash in on the land and has been considering multiple avenues to get what he wants, while Staten has emphatically opposed that idea.

The finale gets Davis closer than ever with the help of Staten’s father, who is bitter about being passed over for ownership of the Double K Ranch. Sam (Brett Cullen) has been looking for a way to prove that Staten is mentally unfit to run the ranch—a hard thing to prove with evidence. That is, until Davis provokes Staten into a fight at Gracie’s Dance Hall and gets into Sam’s car with a shiner on his face. The finale doesn’t take away anyone’s land yet, but all signs point to Davis winning this battle.

Of the three major relationships at play in the finale, only one ends on an uplifting note…though even that may not be a happy ending. Lucas (Garrett Wareing) and Lauren’s plan to leave Ransom Canyon together hits a snag when she injures her shoulder, which kills her chances at a scholarship at the University of Texas in Austin. At Gracie’s, she corners Lucas in a thinly veiled attempt not to hold him back from his true potential, telling him they moved too fast and that she doesn’t want a serious relationship right now. Reid (Andrew Liner), sidelined by both his ex-girlfriend and his parents, gets a redemptive moment when he tells Lucas to go after Lauren, or he will. Lucas takes the mic and declares his love for her on stage, telling her he’ll stay in Ransom Canyon if that’s where she’ll be. It would seem that season 1 leaves everything between them in a perfect spot, but one of the final times we see Lucas, he’s sifting through letters from prestigious colleges, likely questioning whether staying in Ransom Canyon for Lauren is really the best thing for him.

Quinn and Staten fare worse. (They don’t call it a “will-they-won’t-they relationship” for nothing.) After a few starts and stops—including hot tornado sex and a sentimental twine bracelet that the lovebirds tie around each other’s wrists to signify their relationship—the central couple of the series don’t end up together at the end of season 1. Quinn’s business, Gracie’s Dance Hall, is threatened by the foreboding Austin Power & Water, who wants their investment in her business back after she refused to convince Staten to sell his land. With the financial threat hanging over her and a visit from an old piano mentor, Quinn decides to take an offer to play with the New York Philharmonic for six months to earn the money she owes. Staten feels she is running away, lashes out at her, and gets into a fight with Davis. Quinn tells him, “All I ever wanted was you. All you ever wanted was your own pain.” Before he leaves, Staten leaves his bracelet on the bar counter, effectively ending things with her…for now.

Perhaps the most devastating is Yancy (Jack Schumacher) and Ellie’s (Marianly Tejada) love story. With his grandmother’s ring, he proposes to Ellie in the church where Cap once knelt down on one knee. Ellie is shocked and doesn’t immediately say yes, though she doesn’t say no either—a flicker of hope that Yancy holds onto. Ellie goes to Gracie’s, where Quinn tells her about her New York plan and asks her to be her partner at the dance hall. She also tells Kai (Justin Johnson Cortez), a local police officer who has warned Ellie about Yancy all season, that she plans to marry Yancy. Kai is understandably not thrilled—he still holds a candle for Ellie—but she reminds him that he was once a bad boy too, affirming her belief in both men’s capacity to change. Unfortunately, it looks like Kai’s concerns weren’t entirely rooted in jealousy: While Yancy is waiting in the church, ready for a romantic candlelit ceremony, Ellie is approached at Gracie’s by someone claiming to be Yancy’s wife.

What will 'Ransom Canyon' season 2 be about?

Netflix has released an official description for Ransom Canyon season 2: "Season 2 picks up six months after the events of the first season, with rancher Staten Kirkland fighting to reclaim his legacy after being unseated as trustee of his family's Double K Ranch, while musician Quinn O’Grady must decide if her heart truly belongs in the small town she once tried to outrun or in the fast-paced world of New York City. Are they star-crossed lovers, or fated to be together? In Ransom Canyon, true love stories are messy, complicated, and always worth the wait."

In a TV Line interview, the showrunner confirmed that Ransom Canyon will stay based in the titular town, hence the time jump. She explained, "If we started in New York, I’m not sure it would be the same show," and described Quinn's return as the viewer's "reentry into Ransom Canyon."

"She comes back with a new mission," Blair said. "Quinn has spent a lot of her past trying to save other people, and she comes back changed by this experience. Season 2 for her is really about saving herself and doing what’s right for her."

The show is also, of course, loosely based on the eponymous romance book series by Jodi Thomas, so there’s plenty more story to pull from to propel future seasons. However, the show may not be a direct adaptation.

Blair told the New York Post that she doesn’t see the TV series following the book format, where each book brings to life a different set of characters, a la Bridgerton. “For TV, I love the characters we have,” she said, confirming that Staten and Quinn would remain the central characters in future seasons. “We’d want to stick with them.”

We want to stick with them, too! We'll just have to wait and see where their yeehaw romance goes.

Is there a trailer for 'Ransom Canyon' season 2?

Are you ready for all the small-town charm feels—and a bit of spice? Because the Ransom Canyon season 2 trailer is full of it. Netflix unveiled the teaser about a month before the premiere date, and it's a doozy. While Staten confesses to Quinn, "I miss you, Quinn, and I’m not going to make the same mistake twice," things take a turn as she admits to having a new beau...who seems to sense the tension between the former flame. And he's not the only new face we get a first-look at, Patricia Clarkson waltzes in as Quinn's mother—and she seems to have a lot of opinions about how the ranching town is functioning. There's also a whole lot of hot-and-heavy moments, shirtless men hard at work, and some picturesque views of farmland, for good measure. Late July can't come soon enough.

With Queen Margrethe of Denmark’s shocking announcement on New Year’s Eve that she is abdicating the throne after 52 years on January 14, the world will suddenly be without a queen regnant (a queen born to the throne, not a consort that married into the family). Much like her third cousin Queen Elizabeth, Margrethe was the longest-reigning monarch in her country, and her loss to both Denmark and the global royal stratosphere is profound.

So, yes, royal families around the world may be helmed by a boy’s club right now, but that won’t last. Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Norway all have heir apparents that are women—so, when it comes to the global royal landscape, the future is very, very female. Long may she reign!

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden

Though Crown Princess Victoria, 46, is the eldest of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s three children, after her brother Prince Carl Philip was born in 1979, she was bumped down behind him in the line of succession because he is male—until Sweden changed its constitution so that birth order determined the line of succession regardless of gender. This change was effective January 1, 1980, once again making Victoria the heir apparent after seven months as No. 2. (Most of the women here will be on the throne thanks to absolute primogeniture, just like what happened in Sweden.) When Victoria takes the throne, she will be Sweden’s fourth queen regnant and its first since 1720. Of these group of future queen regnants, Victoria is so far the only one that is a wife and mother; she married Daniel Westling in 2010, and they have two children.

Princess Elisabeth of Belgium

Princess Elisabeth, 22, is the eldest of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde’s four children and became Duchess of Brabant and heir to the throne in 2013 after her grandfather King Albert abdicated. After taking part in her first royal engagement at just five years old in 2006, she gave her first public speech (in Dutch) in 2011, when she was nine. She undertook military training for her future role as queen, and in August 2020 entered the Royal Military Academy in Brussels, studying social and military sciences. She swore the officers’ oath in September 2023, being commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Belgian Army. She reads history and politics at Lincoln College, Oxford, and has rowed crew under the name “Elisabeth de Saxe-Cobourg.” She speaks Dutch, French, German, and English, has taken classes in Mandarin Chinese, and holds children with learning difficulties, the elderly, the homeless, and the disabled as causes close to her heart.

Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands

Princess Catharina-Amalia, 20, became first in line to the throne when her father, King Willem-Alexander, ascended in 2013—when she was just nine years old. The eldest of Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima’s three daughters, Catharina-Amalia is the first Princess of Orange in her own right (Prince or Princess of Orange is the title given to the heir to the throne in the Netherlands). She made headlines in June 2021 when she announced her refusal to accept her €1.6m annual income, as it made her uncomfortable that she hadn’t yet done anything to earn it. (Respect.) She’s currently studying politics, psychology, law, and economics at the University of Amsterdam and, in addition to speaking Dutch, English, and Spanish, has taken classes in Mandarin Chinese.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway

After Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s birth in 2004, the already popular Norwegian royal family experienced a surge in popularity, likely because Ingrid, 19, will one day become the country’s second female monarch—and its first since the fifteenth century. Ingrid is the eldest child of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit and the grandchild of King Harald, who is currently on the throne. She has a younger brother, Prince Sverre Magnus, whom she ranks above in the line of succession thanks to the implementation of absolute primogeniture in Norway in 1990. This year, she is expected to undertake military training for 12 months at the Engineer Battalion in Brigade Nord.

Princess Leonor of Spain

Princess Leonor, 18—the eldest of two daughters born to King Felipe and Queen Letizia—became first in line to the throne following the abdication of her grandfather, King Juan Carlos, in 2014, when she was eight years old. Since then, Leonor has taken part in a bevy of firsts: her first public engagement in 2018, when she was 12; her first public speech on her thirteenth birthday that same year; her first public solo engagement in 2021; and her first international trip without her parents in 2022. This past September, Leonor took the heir’s oath, officially declaring her as next in line to the throne and during which she swore allegiance to the Spanish constitution. Known as the Princess of Asturias, last August Leonor joined the General Military Academy to start her three-year military education and is currently an officer cadet in the General Spanish Military Academy. She is fluent in Spanish and English, has studied Mandarin Chinese, and, when she ascends to the throne, she will be Spain’s first queen regnant since the mid-1800s.

Britney Spears is open to reconciling with her estranged mother, Lynne Spears, but wants it to "unfold organically," a source told Us Weekly.

"Britney understands that her mom would have loved for her to visit for Christmas but she just felt like it was too soon,” a source told the publication. “Britney is open to repairing her relationship with Lynne but she wants things to unfold organically and not force anything.”

The source went on to say that the pop star is "in a really good place" and "would love to continue maintaining her relationship with her mom," but also wants to "take her time."

"She doesn't feel like there's a need to rush anything," the source added.

Britney Spears' relationship with her mom has been strained since she was subjected to a 13-year conservatorship in 2008, which was mostly managed by her father, Jamie Spears.

The conservatorship ended in 2021 after a public legal battle, in which Britney Spears testified that the conservatorship was "abusive."

In her memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney Spears accused both her mother and her father of taking her "womanhood" as a result.

She also accused her family of throwing away the possessions she stored at her mom's home in Louisiana, including her childhood collection of Madame Alexander dolls and three years' worth of writing.

In November, Lynne Spears publicly responded to her daughter's allegations, sharing photos of the dolls and writings on Instagram.

"I'm not sure who told you I got rid of your dolls and journals but I would never do that! That would be cruel because I know how much they mean to you," Lynne Spears wrote in the caption. "They are special to me too because of the years we spent collecting them. Of course I still have your things, and I am happy to send them to you if you'd like me to. Please let me know and know how much I love you!"

In August, 2022, Lynne Spears shared a photo of her and her daughter laughing and wrapping one arm around each other on Instagram.

"Britney, your whole life I have tried my best to support your dreams and wishes! And also, I have tried my best to help you out of hardships! I have never and will never turn my back on you!" In May, Britney Spears revealed that she had connected with her mother for the first time in three years, sharing a photo of Instagram of herself as a child.

"My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years … it’s been such a long time … with family there’s always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds!!!" Britney Spears captioned the post. "And after being able to communicate what I’ve held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!! I love you so much!!! Psss… I’m so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years!!! Let’s go shopping afterwards!!!"

When it comes to royal families around the world, the future is female—Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Belgium all have females who will one day reign. The first in line to the Spanish throne is Princess Leonor, hailed as “Europe’s most glamorous young royal.”

She lived up to that billing as she joined her parents, King Felipe and the ever-chic Queen Letizia, as they attended the opening ceremony of the 15th Legislature of the Spanish Parliament in the Congress of Deputies in Madrid. Leonor’s appearance comes just a few weeks after swearing an oath to the Constitution to mark her eighteenth birthday.

For the occasion, the heir to the throne stunned in a midi green dress by Adolfo Domínguez, which she paired with a Carolina Herrera coat and handbag and Hugo Boss heels, all camel colored. Jewelry by Gold&Roses completed the look.

Leonor—who arrived in her own car, separate from her parents, to the engagement—is formally known as the Princess of Asturias and paired her look with medals of the Congress and the Senate around her neck, presented to her on her birthday. She also had the insignia of the great necklace of the Order of Charles III that her father gave her last month pinned on her dress, The Daily Express writes. “Reports suggested the royal’s choice of color was a sweet nod to her military side, as she is currently completing her training at the Military Academy in Zaragoza,” the outlet reports.

Letizia wore a wine-colored midi dress and black cape with a fur collar by Carolina Herrera. Leonor’s younger sister, Infanta Sofia, did not attend alongside the other three members of her family as she is studying for her international baccalaureate at the British boarding school UWC Atlantic College in Wales.
