<p>She might only be 20, but <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/princess-leonor-pink-makeup-military-uniform/">Princess Leonor of Spain</a> has a sparkling future ahead as the country’s <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/princess-leonor-in-carolina-herrera/">heir to the throne</a>. Leonor is currently undergoing her final year of <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/queen-letizia-cried-in-public-emotional-farewell/">military training</a> in the Spanish armed forces, and on March 4, her grandmother, <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/king-juan-carlos-queen-letizia-disagreement-bombshell-memoir/">Queen Sofia</a>, showed off a symbolic brooch that nods to their shared naval heritage. </p><p>Sofia recently returned to duties after the death of sister, Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark, and while visiting Madrid’s Naval Museum she wore a sentimental diamond brooch. <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/queen-camilla-lucky-brooch-royal-turmoil/">Justin Daughters</a>, managing director at <a href="https://www.berganza.com/"><u>Berganza</u></a>, says that while Queen Sofia “has long mastered the art of jewelry diplomacy,” this particular piece delivers “a deeply personal message.”</p><p>The yellow gold and diamond design, which Sofia received during her travels on the naval training ship Elcano, “forms a bowline knot, a symbol of reliability and enduring bonds,” per the jewelry expert. Accented with a diamond-studded “S” for her name, the brooch also “incorporates a series of enameled flags from the International Code of Signals, spelling out Elcano”—the same ship where Leonor recently took part in her own military training. </p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:4000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:66.68%;"><img id="LS2C9eos2YrUcyUwBDK82C" name="GettyImages-2264780738" alt="Queen Sofia wearing a black blazer and brooch" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/LS2C9eos2YrUcyUwBDK82C.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="4000" height="2667" attribution="" endorsement="" class="inline"></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Queen Sofia's meaningful diamond brooch features naval symbols. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:4000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:66.68%;"><img id="TayyqZrcZ5wJZkkJ3TGKDP" name="GettyImages-2256764897" alt="Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia holding umbrellas next to Queen Sofia" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/TayyqZrcZ5wJZkkJ3TGKDP.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="4000" height="2667" attribution="" endorsement="" class="inline"></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Princess Leonor (left) comforts her grandmother during a memorial service for Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark in January. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2665px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:150.09%;"><img id="SKvraC8dht3TA6UcT7J64c" name="GettyImages-2254903911" alt="Princess Leonor wearing a blue military uniform walking next to Queen Letizia clutching a black cape" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/SKvraC8dht3TA6UcT7J64c.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2665" height="4000" attribution="" endorsement="" class="inline"></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Princess Leonor is seen with her mother, Queen Letizia, at the Pascua Militar ceremony in January. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><p>“What makes this brooch moment particularly poignant is the layers of history it represents,” Daughters says. Along with Queen Sofia and <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/princess-leonor-queen-letizia-power-suits/">Princess Leonor</a>, Sofia’s son, <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/queen-letizia-king-felipe-embrace-flood-victims-pelted-mud/">King Felipe</a>, also traveled on the Elcano for his naval training.</p><p>“By wearing it now, following Princess Leonor’s own time aboard the ship last year, the Queen is effectively 'passing the baton' of tradition to the future Queen of Spain,” the jewelry professional adds. </p><p>After completing the naval portion of her studies last year, Princess Leonor is now in the final stages of her military training with the Spanish Air Force. Leonor, who is known as the <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/the-royal-future-is-female/">Princess of Asturias</a>, will have taken part in all branches of the country’s armed forces in preparation to become commander-in-chief one day. </p><p>As for Queen Sofia, her brooch proved to be the perfect choice for a visit to the Naval museum while quietly honoring her family heritage. Daughters notes that pieces like Sofia’s brooch “are quiet storytelling objects” that “allow royals to acknowledge family milestones, heritage and personal relationships without saying a word.”</p>

                                <p>Queen Letizia has some <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/fashion/g22560422/queen-letizia-of-spain-style-outfits/">seriously enviable style</a>, so it's no wonder that her eldest daughter, Princess Leonor, looks up to her royal mom in the <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/fashion/a28586841/queen-letizia-linen-mango-jumpsuit/">fashion department</a>. She recently borrowed the Spanish queen's diamond drop earrings while also wearing a <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/princess-leonor-queen-letizia-power-suits">Letizia-approved power suit</a>, and on Monday, August 4, the 19-year-old <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/the-royal-future-is-female/">Princess of Asturias</a> dipped into mom's closet once again. </p><p>Princess Leonor—who is <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/princess-leonor-in-carolina-herrera/">heir to the Spanish throne</a>—and her 18-year-old sister, <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/princess-charlotte-teamed-up-spanish-princesses-switzerland-trip-prince-william/">Infanta Sofía</a>, made their debut at the annual reception at Marivent Palace on Monday. The event is held at the royal family's summer home in Mallorca and welcomes authorities and members of society from the Balearic Islands each year. While the sisters both wore colorful summer dresses, eagle-eyed royal fans might have noticed that Leonor's off-the-shoulder style was first worn by Queen Letizia at the very same event in 2023. </p><p>The floaty blue and white dress is by Spanish ready-to-wear brand Desigual, and while Queen Letizia originally wore it with white wedges, Leonor borrowed a navy pair of her mother's beloved <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/fashion/news/g3712/espadrilles-summer/">espadrilles</a>—the aptly named <a href="https://espadrillespicon.com/producto/letizia-marino/" target="_blank">Letizia wedges</a> by Spanish brand Calzados Picon.</p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:4000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:66.68%;"><img id="PZTzBX4xNibNjuFbeKHjJA" name="GettyImages-2228536958 (1)" alt="King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofia and Queen Sofia standing in a row outside Marivent Palace" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/PZTzBX4xNibNjuFbeKHjJA.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="4000" height="2667" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">(From left) King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofía and Queen Sofia are pictured at Marivent Palace on August 4. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:4000px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:150.00%;"><img id="n6iPXsPB8oZFeyQ4i3BWrQ" name="GettyImages-2228543668" alt="Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia of Spain wearing summer dresses and wedges outside Marivent Palace" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/n6iPXsPB8oZFeyQ4i3BWrQ.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="4000" height="6000" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía all wore espadrille wedges for the event. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2665px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:150.09%;"><img id="FwCYt2bEWhTCHp4jYT5BX5" name="GettyImages-1590566359" alt="Queen Letizia wearing a blue and white dress walking next to King Felipe outside columns and bushes" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FwCYt2bEWhTCHp4jYT5BX5.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2665" height="4000" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Queen Letizia wore the same dress to a Marivent Palace reception in 2023. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><p>Leonor wasn't the only one to get in on the summery shoe action. Like <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/duchess-sophie-summer-uniform-espadrilles-floral-dress">Duchess Sophie</a>, the Spanish royal women are fans of a good <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/duchess-sophie-proves-wedges-are-back-blue-dress">espadrille wedge</a>, and Queen Letizia wore a gold leather Calzados Picon style while Infanta Sofía chose the same pair of beige Macarena Java34 Wedges she and her big sister have both worn on a number of occasions. </p><p>Sofía paired her espadrilles with a pink tie-dyed Zara dress, while Queen Letizia went for a classic white sun dress by Spanish brand Tony Bonet. </p><p>Although the Spanish royal family is enjoying their summer break in Mallorca, Princess Leonor has kept plenty busy lately. In July, she returned from a six-month voyage on a Spanish Navy training ship—part of her three-year-long <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/queen-letizia-cried-in-public-emotional-farewell/">military training</a>—and she hopped right back into royal appearances. </p><p>She's since attended the Princess of Girona Awards, the Copa Del Rey Mapfre Sailing Cup and a movie screening in Mallorca, along with traveling to Switzerland to watch the women's Euro final against England with Prince William and Princess Charlotte. </p><h2 id="shop-similar">Shop Similar</h2> <div class="featured_product_block featured_block_horizontal" data-id="c8b9f2e3-dd0c-444e-b068-1d6cd5fc5768"> <a href="https://tonipons.com/en-us/products/alpargatas-mujer-bianca-as-champagne" data-model-name="Women's Leather Espadrille With Wedge" data-model-brand="" ><div class='product-image-widthsetter'><p class='vanilla-image-block' data-bordeaux-image-check style='padding-top:133.33%';><img style="width: 100%" class="featured_image" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Wxbu5U5jkeTffUUWay7kvG.jpg" alt="Women's Leather Espadrille With Wedge"></p></div></a> <div class="featured_product_details_wrapper"> <div class="featured_product_title_wrapper"> <div class='featured__brand'>TONI PONS</div> <div class="featured__title">Women's Leather Espadrille With Wedge</div> </div> <div class="subtitle__description"> <p></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="featured_product_block featured_block_horizontal" data-id="002e5181-cb8e-4c80-a476-575bc2d997eb"> <a href="https://www.zappos.com/p/womens-castaner-carina-60mm-wedge-espadrille-dark-blue/product/9324510/color/790" data-model-name="Carina 60mm Wedge Espadrille" data-model-brand="" ><div class='product-image-widthsetter'><p class='vanilla-image-block' data-bordeaux-image-check style='padding-top:80.00%';><img style="width: 100%" class="featured_image" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/gChWrs2qGi3BDDWLHtkKL7.jpg" alt="Carina 60mm Wedge Espadrille"></p></div></a> <div class="featured_product_details_wrapper"> <div class="featured_product_title_wrapper"> <div class='featured__brand'>Castaner</div> <div class="featured__title">Carina 60mm Wedge Espadrille</div> </div> <div class="subtitle__description"> <p></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="featured_product_block featured_block_horizontal" data-id="0451c1c8-5f06-4b83-8cc2-9429a8daf034"> <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Soludos-Womens-Tall-Wedge-Blush/dp/B01M8PU4SR/ref=sxin_16_pa_sp_search_thematic_sspa" data-model-name="Women's Marseille Wedges" data-model-brand="" ><div class='product-image-widthsetter'><p class='vanilla-image-block' data-bordeaux-image-check style='padding-top:150%';><img style="width: 100%" class="featured_image" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/hKvMfXRfYPKf49nXzrTQPP.jpg" alt="Soludos Women's Marseille Wedges, La Concha Ivory, Off White, 8.5 Medium Us"></p></div></a> <div class="featured_product_details_wrapper"> <div class="featured_product_title_wrapper"> <div class='featured__brand'>Soludos</div> <div class="featured__title">Women's Marseille Wedges</div> </div> <div class="subtitle__description"> <p></p> </div> </div> </div>

The father/daughter duo traveled to watch England's women's soccer team, <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/a28218610/prince-william-support-england-womens-football-team/">The Lionesses</a>, win against Spain in the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 Final, and members of the <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/princess-leonor-queen-letizia-power-suits">Spanish royal family</a> were also on hand for the exciting match. </p><p>The 19-year-old future queen of Spain, <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/queen-letizia-cried-in-public-emotional-farewell">Princess Leonor</a>, and her 18-year-old sister, Infanta Sofía, sat in the stands next to William and Charlotte as they cheered for their respective countries in Basel, Switzerland. The foursome also gathered for a group photo, which Prince William shared on Instagram and wrote, "Bring on the second half! May the best team win, @casareal.es!" </p><p>The Prince of Wales added a shaking hands emoji in between an English flag and a Spanish flag to represent their friendship. The Lionesses went on to win 3-1, and Prince William and a delighted Princess Charlotte took to the field to celebrate with the team. </p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:1080px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:177.78%;"><img id="yM7qgyKdSSGU4UCiL8qqB9" name="524573518_18522941179045660_3206939533934396966_n" alt="Prince William, Princess Charlotte, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia posing at the Women's European soccer championship" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yM7qgyKdSSGU4UCiL8qqB9.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="1080" height="1920" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Prince William shared a group photo with the Spanish royals on his Instagram Story. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: The Prince and Princess of Wales/Instagram)</span></figcaption></figure><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:6500px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:66.65%;"><img id="V2Z5GSX7ed3xvFXQmPscM4" name="GettyImages-2226761242" alt="Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofia, Aleksander Ceferin, Prince William and Princess Charlotte at the Spain/England final" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/V2Z5GSX7ed3xvFXQmPscM4.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="6500" height="4332" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Infanta Sofía (top row, third from left) and Princess Leonor (top row, fourth from left) are seen sitting between Aleksander Ceferin, UEFA president, and Prince William and Princess Charlotte. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2702px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:150.00%;"><img id="gwFbekutwLPzHmx5GAZhrN" name="GettyImages-2226729484" alt="Prince William with his arm around Princess Charlotte on the field to celebrate the Lionesses Euro win" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/gwFbekutwLPzHmx5GAZhrN.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2702" height="4053" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">The Prince of Wales embraced his daughter during the celebrations for the Lionesses. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><p>Princess Charlotte repeated the same <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/princess-charlotee-tween-vibe-wardrobe/">navy polka dot dress</a> she wore to Wimbledon in 2024 for her sporty outing, while the Spanish royals both wore white tanks and matching pants with lightweight blazers.</p><p>Princess Leonor—who has been on a suit streak lately—wore a pinstriped blue Ralph Lauren jacket, while her little sister wore a beige linen blazer. <p>Lies, deceit, and romance fill <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/tag/netflix/">Netflix</a>’s small-town drama, <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/culture/tv-shows/ransom-canyon-cast/"><u><em>Ransom Canyon</em></u></a>. Led by Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel as star-crossed lovers Quinn O’Grady and Staten Kirkland, the <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/culture/g18934491/best-tv-shows-of-all-time/"><u>must-watch series</u></a> follows three ranch families as industrialists looking to access a water pipeline pursue their land. The first season, which aired in spring 2025, concluded with a finale that left many questions open-ended, including the fate of the ranches and the status of the three central, thorny <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/culture/tv-shows/best-romantic-tv-shows-on-netflix/"><u>romantic relationships</u></a>.</p><p><em>Ransom Canyon </em>is based on a <a href="https://bookshop.org/p/books/ransom-canyon-jodi-thomas/d5e71ccb0d9f0495?ean=9781335016898&next=t&" target="_blank"><u>book series</u></a>, so there is plenty more story to sift through if showrunner April Blair is given the chance. Here’s everything we know so far about season 2 of <em>Ransom Canyon.</em></p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3600px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:42.56%;"><img id="q9sD7LKNFu7nDuQ6iGzWrB" name="everything-we-know-about-ransom-canyon-season-2" alt="Minka Kelly as Quinn wearing a cardigan and white dress walking through a field by a bar in ransom canyon season 2" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/q9sD7LKNFu7nDuQ6iGzWrB.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3600" height="1532" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Quinn O'Grady (Minka Kelly) in a first-look image at <em>Ransom Canyon</em> season 2. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Netflix)</span></figcaption></figure><h2 class="article-body__section" id="section-is-ransom-canyon-renewed-for-season-2"><span>Is 'Ransom Canyon' renewed for season 2?</span></h2><p><a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/tag/netflix/" target="_blank">Netflix</a> officially renewed <em>Ransom Canyon</em> for season 2 in late June 2025. When the news broke, showrunner April Blair shared a statement with <a href="https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/ransom-canyon-season-2-news-photos-cast" target="_blank">Tudum</a>: "I couldn’t be happier that Netflix is ready to get back in the saddle for <em>Ransom Canyon</em>...Our dreamy little corner of Texas Hill Country is full of stories still untold, and we can’t wait to bring them to our incredible fans. Get ready for another ride." We're ready to giddy up!</p><h2 class="article-body__section" id="section-when-will-ransom-canyon-season-2-come-out"><span>When will 'Ransom Canyon' season 2 come out?</span></h2><p>Get ready for a very yeehaw summer because <em>Ransom Canyon</em> officially returns this July. In late April, the streamer confirmed via a press release that the second installment of its popular western will premiere on <strong>Thursday, July 23</strong>. Along with the news, Netflix shared a series of first-look photos, which you can see throughout this story. </p><p><em>Ransom Canyon</em> season 2 filmed throughout fall 2025, just months after the series premiered in April 2025. And before that, season 1 was <a href="https://edd.newmexico.gov/pr/new-mexico-film-office-announces-netflix-series-ransom-canyon-begins-production-in-new-mexico/" target="_blank"><u>filmed</u></a> between February and June 2024, before it premiered on streaming in April 2025. That makes sense both because of the show's relatively low production lift—and Netflix seems to have a taste for small-town dramas (see <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/culture/tv-shows/sweet-magnolias-sason-5/"><em>Sweet Magnolias</em></a>, <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com/culture/tv-shows/virgin-river-season-8/"><em>Virgin River</em></a>, etc.). James Brolin, whose character Cap Fuller died in season 1, will not. Though Minka Kelly's character Quinn O'Grady ends the first batch of episodes as she sets out to play for the New York Philharmonic, the showrunner has confirmed she'll be back. (More on that below.) In addition to Kelly, we’ll be seeing more Josh Duhamel (Staten Kirland), Lizzy Greene (Lauren Brigman), Philip Winchester (Dan Brigman), Garrett Wareing (Lucas Russell), Marianly Tejada (Ellie Estevez), Jack Schumacher (Yancy Grey), and Justin Johnson Cortez (Kai Flores). </p><p>We'll be seeing even more of Casey W. Johnson, who plays Lucas's brother Kit Russell, since he has been promoted to a series regular, as reported by <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/08/ransom-canyon-casey-w-johnson-series-regular-season-2-1236476984/" target="_blank">Deadline</a>. </p><p>Two actors won't return: Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner, who played father and son Davis and Reid Collins. As fans may recall, Davis owns Bar W Ranch and feuded with Staten over both stakes to the land and Quinn's heart. <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/09/eoin-macken-andrew-liner-leaving-ransom-canyon-1236476906/" target="_blank">Deadline</a> reported that the actors won't return, but Netflix declined to comment. It's unclear whether their characters are being recast or written out entirely, but considering how large a role Davis played, signs point to someone else replacing Macken. We'll have to wait to hear more about what led to that decision, and who is joining the show instead. </p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3600px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:66.67%;"><img id="6VuECijRGWtEJxiCBGHXHC" name="everything-we-know-about-ransom-canyon-season-2" alt="Josh Duhamel as Staten smiling and drinking beers while leaning against his car on a highway in a still from ransom canyon season 2" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/6VuECijRGWtEJxiCBGHXHC.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3600" height="2400" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">It's been confirmed that season 2 will kick-off with a time jump. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Jeff Neumann/Netflix)</span></figcaption></figure><h2 class="article-body__section" id="section-will-there-be-new-cast-members-in-ransom-canyon-season-2"><span>Will there be new cast members in 'Ransom Canyon' season 2?</span></h2><p>A second season of <em>Ransom Canyon</em> will also bring new characters into the fold. Fans will be most anxious to know who plays Yancy’s wife, who shockingly arrives in Ransom Canyon in the final moments of the season 1 finale. We didn't see her face at the time, but <a href="https://www.instagram.com/heidiengerman/" target="_blank">Heidi Engerman</a> will portray her.</p><p>When the up-and-comer was cast, the showrunner told <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/12/yancy-grey-wife-season-2-ransom-canyon-1236642202/" target="_blank">Deadline</a> that fans can expect her to cause "a whole lot of trouble." She said, "There’s a lot of surprises for Yancy this season that are going to be super fun and a lot of stakes to his wife showing up...Can he get rid of her? Does he want to get rid of her? Why does he need to get rid of her? And it picks at his history a little too. We always alluded to Yancy having this grifter criminal past, and now the the context of that starts to come into focus with the wife’s arrival."</p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3600px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:66.67%;"><img id="FSugZ32eMQo5RELR9UquwT" name="ransom-canyon-season-2-everything-we-know-about" alt="Heidi Grace Engerman as Sidney wearing a red dress and smiling at a man in Ransom Canyon Season 2" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FSugZ32eMQo5RELR9UquwT.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3600" height="2400" attribution="" endorsement="" class="inline"></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Heidi Grace Engerman will debut as Yancy's wife, Sidney. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Jeff Neumann/Netflix)</span></figcaption></figure><p>Yancy's wife won't be the only new addition to the cast: There's also a new love interest for Quinn. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/benrobson/" target="_blank">Ben Robson</a> (<em>Animal Kingdom</em>, <em>Vikings</em>) will play <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/09/ben-robson-heidi-engerman-netflix-ransom-canyon-season-2-1236549226/" target="_blank">Oliver</a>, "a big-city love interest for Quinn." (It's safe to say things on the ranch will get complicated!) </p><p>We'll also meet Quinn's mother. In an exciting announcement, <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/09/patricia-clarkson-joins-ransom-canyon-season-2-1236565086/" target="_blank">Deadline</a> reported in late September 2025 that three-time Emmy winner and Oscar-nominated actress Patricia Clarkson (<em>Six Feet Under</em>, <em>Sharp Objects</em>) will play Claire O'Grady. There haven't been many details surrounding how she may shake things up, but we're looking forward to the icon gracing our screens.</p><p>Staten's family is expanding on screen, as well. In early November, Deadline reported that TV veteran Steve Howey (<em>High Potential</em>, <em>Shameless</em>, <em>Reba</em>) will play his half-brother, Levi. According to the outlet, Levi has been described as "a mountain man of sorts who lives off the land." </p><p>The series has already featured several Statens family members, from his father to his brother-in-law and nephew, so we'll have to see how Levi fits into the fold. </p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3600px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:66.67%;"><img id="9jJWbyaFeLkJsvtWV7yLJd" name="everything-we-know-about-ransom-canyon-season-2" alt="Marianly Tejada as Ellie looking nervous as she bartends and dries dishes in a still from ransom canyon season 2" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/9jJWbyaFeLkJsvtWV7yLJd.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3600" height="2400" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Ellie's (Marianly Tejada) love life was left with a big cliffhanger at the end of season 1. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Jeff Neumann/Netflix)</span></figcaption></figure><h2 class="article-body__section" id="section-how-does-ransom-canyon-season-1-end"><span>How does 'Ransom Canyon' season 1 end? </span></h2><p>The finale of the Netflix western, titled “Maybe It’s Time Yancy Grey Dies Too,” ties up one major thread of the first season: Who is responsible for the death of Staten’s son Randall (Hubert Smielecki), who dies in a fatal car accident in the pilot? In the final two episodes of the first season, audiences find out that Margaret (Sarah Minnich), Lauren’s (Lizzy Greene) alcoholic mom and estranged wife of the local sheriff, Dan Brigman (Philip Winchester), was the perpetrator. She initially lets her lover Kit (Casey W. Johnson), Lucas’s brother, take the fall, but once Lauren finds out the truth, she urges her father to do the right thing and arrest Margaret for the crime.</p><p>But there are still quite a few other plotlines that leave us wanting more. Outside of romantic entanglements, the biggest question mark is the status of the war between the ranch owners and those in collusion with Austin Water & Power, who want to gain control of the land to access a water pipeline. This has put brothers-in-law Davis and Staten at odds because Davis, who is secretly in debt, wants to cash in on the land and has been considering multiple avenues to get what he wants, while Staten has emphatically opposed that idea. </p><p>The finale gets Davis closer than ever with the help of Staten’s father, who is bitter about being passed over for ownership of the Double K Ranch. Sam (Brett Cullen) has been looking for a way to prove that Staten is mentally unfit to run the ranch—a hard thing to prove with evidence. That is, until Davis provokes Staten into a fight at Gracie’s Dance Hall and gets into Sam’s car with a shiner on his face. The finale doesn’t take away anyone’s land yet, but all signs point to Davis winning this battle.</p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3600px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:66.67%;"><img id="PHDoESgP5Gn54UiS37tVf4" name="ransom-canyon-season-2-everything-we-know-about" alt="Minka Kelly as Quinn and Ben Robson as Oliver smiling at a bar in Episode 202 of Ransom Canyon Season 2" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/PHDoESgP5Gn54UiS37tVf4.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3600" height="2400" attribution="" endorsement="" class="inline"></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">You can expect Quinn's will-they-won't-they to get even more complicated with the addition of Oliver (Ben Robson). </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Jeff Neumann/Netflix)</span></figcaption></figure><p>Of the three major relationships at play in the finale, only one ends on an uplifting note…though even that may not be a happy ending. Lucas (Garrett Wareing) and Lauren’s plan to leave Ransom Canyon together hits a snag when she injures her shoulder, which kills her chances at a scholarship at the University of Texas in Austin. At Gracie’s, she corners Lucas in a thinly veiled attempt not to hold him back from his true potential, telling him they moved too fast and that she doesn’t want a serious relationship right now. Reid (Andrew Liner), sidelined by both his ex-girlfriend and his parents, gets a redemptive moment when he tells Lucas to go after Lauren, or he will. Lucas takes the mic and declares his love for her on stage, telling her he’ll stay in Ransom Canyon if that’s where she’ll be. It would seem that season 1 leaves everything between them in a perfect spot, but one of the final times we see Lucas, he’s sifting through letters from prestigious colleges, likely questioning whether staying in Ransom Canyon for Lauren is really the best thing for him. </p><p>Quinn and Staten fare worse. (They don’t call it a “will-they-won’t-they relationship” for nothing.) After a few starts and stops—including hot tornado sex and a sentimental twine bracelet that the lovebirds tie around each other’s wrists to signify their relationship—the central couple of the series don’t end up together at the end of season 1. Quinn’s business, Gracie’s Dance Hall, is threatened by the foreboding Austin Power & Water, who wants their investment in her business back after she refused to convince Staten to sell his land. With the financial threat hanging over her and a visit from an old piano mentor, Quinn decides to take an offer to play with the New York Philharmonic for six months to earn the money she owes. Staten feels she is running away, lashes out at her, and gets into a fight with Davis. Quinn tells him, “All I ever wanted was you. All you ever wanted was your own pain.” Before he leaves, Staten leaves his bracelet on the bar counter, effectively ending things with her…for now. </p><p>Perhaps the most devastating is Yancy (Jack Schumacher) and Ellie’s (Marianly Tejada) love story. With his grandmother’s ring, he proposes to Ellie in the church where Cap once knelt down on one knee. Ellie is shocked and doesn’t immediately say yes, though she doesn’t say no either—a flicker of hope that Yancy holds onto. Ellie goes to Gracie’s, where Quinn tells her about her New York plan and asks her to be her partner at the dance hall. She also tells Kai (Justin Johnson Cortez), a local police officer who has warned Ellie about Yancy all season, that she plans to marry Yancy. Kai is understandably not thrilled—he still holds a candle for Ellie—but she reminds him that he was once a bad boy too, affirming her belief in both men’s capacity to change. Unfortunately, it looks like Kai’s concerns weren’t entirely rooted in jealousy: While Yancy is waiting in the church, ready for a romantic candlelit ceremony, Ellie is approached at Gracie’s by someone claiming to be Yancy’s wife. </p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3600px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:42.44%;"><img id="2YARz8JHzV4eeqUkJnKHUj" name="everything-we-know-about-ransom-canyon-season-2" alt="Lizzy Greene as Lauren and Garrett Wareing as Lucas sitting under a blanket in a cozy chair together cuddling in a still from ransom canyon season 2" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/2YARz8JHzV4eeqUkJnKHUj.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3600" height="1528" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="caption-text">Lauren (Lizzy Greene) and Lucas (Garrett Wareing) in season 2. </span><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Netflix)</span></figcaption></figure><h2 class="article-body__section" id="section-what-will-ransom-canyon-season-2-be-about"><span>What will 'Ransom Canyon' season 2 be about? </span></h2><p>Netflix has released an official description for <em>Ransom Canyon </em>season 2: "Season 2 picks up six months after the events of the first season, with rancher Staten Kirkland fighting to reclaim his legacy after being unseated as trustee of his family's Double K Ranch, while musician Quinn O’Grady must decide if her heart truly belongs in the small town she once tried to outrun or in the fast-paced world of New York City. Because the <em>Ransom Canyon</em> season 2 trailer is full of it. Netflix unveiled the teaser about a month before the premiere date, and it's a doozy. While Staten confesses to Quinn, "I miss you, Quinn, and I’m not going to make the same mistake twice," things take a turn as she admits to having a new beau...who seems to sense the tension between the former flame. And he's not the only new face we get a first-look at, Patricia Clarkson waltzes in as Quinn's mother—and she seems to have a lot of opinions about how the ranching town is functioning. There's also a whole lot of hot-and-heavy moments, shirtless men hard at work, and some picturesque views of farmland, for good measure. Late July can't come soon enough. </p>

<p>With Queen Margrethe of Denmark’s shocking announcement on New Year’s Eve that she is abdicating the throne after 52 years on January 14, the world will suddenly be without a queen regnant (a queen born to the throne, not a consort that married into the family). Much like her third cousin Queen Elizabeth, Margrethe was the longest-reigning monarch in her country, and her loss to both Denmark and the global royal stratosphere is profound.</p><p>So, yes, royal families around the world may be helmed by a boy’s club right now, but that won’t last. Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Norway all have heir apparents that are women—so, when it comes to the global royal landscape, the future is very, very female. Long may she reign!</p><h2 id="crown-princess-victoria-of-sweden">Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden</h2><p>Though Crown Princess Victoria, 46, is the eldest of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s three children, after her brother Prince Carl Philip was born in 1979, she was bumped down behind him in the line of succession because he is male—until Sweden changed its constitution so that birth order determined the line of succession regardless of gender. This change was effective January 1, 1980, once again making Victoria the heir apparent after seven months as No. 2. (Most of the women here will be on the throne thanks to absolute primogeniture, just like what happened in Sweden.) When Victoria takes the throne, she will be Sweden’s fourth queen regnant and its first since 1720. Of these group of future queen regnants, Victoria is so far the only one that is a wife and mother; she married Daniel Westling in 2010, and they have two children.</p><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:1127px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:170.36%;"><img id="du4pUHwURMLofxBUnHYf3P" name="Victoria 4.jpg" alt="Crown Princess Victoria" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/du4pUHwURMLofxBUnHYf3P.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="1127" height="1920" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:3416px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:149.97%;"><img id="YcNYjogJuQoeefRZ8KFaUK" name="Victoria 2.jpg" alt="Crown Princess Victoria" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/YcNYjogJuQoeefRZ8KFaUK.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="3416" height="5123" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:1281px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:149.88%;"><img id="FENCSkVaCybV3YayE7mYnN" name="Victoria 1.jpg" alt="Crown Princess Victoria" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FENCSkVaCybV3YayE7mYnN.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="1281" height="1920" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><figure class="van-image-figure inline-layout" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' style="max-width:2833px;"><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:145.15%;"><img id="vueXUSCAqRUhZMKZ5ELecL" name="Victoria 3.jpg" alt="Crown Princess Victoria" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vueXUSCAqRUhZMKZ5ELecL.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="2833" height="4112" attribution="" endorsement="" class=""></p></div></div><figcaption itemprop="caption description" class=" inline-layout"><span class="credit" itemprop="copyrightHolder">(Image credit: Getty Images)</span></figcaption></figure><h2 id="princess-elisabeth-of-belgium">Princess Elisabeth of Belgium</h2><p>Princess Elisabeth, 22, is the eldest of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde’s four children and became Duchess of Brabant and heir to the throne in 2013 after her grandfather King Albert abdicated.
