Okay, Kendall Jenner's custom GapStudio Met Gala dress didn't completely come off once she entered the official event. But it's worth shouting-out how she and Zac Posen continued their tribute to "Winged Victory of Samothrace," one of the Louvre's most famous Greek sculptures, after the step-and-repeat. The pair had hinted on the red carpet that there were "surprises" ahead at the Met Gala, and seeing Jenner's full plumage unfold certainly made it seem like Nike, the Goddess of Victory herself, was in the room.

On the whole, the 2026 Met Gala red carpet favored trompe-l'oeil anatomy over true naked dresses. But Doja Cat, a member of the Host Committee, kept the baring-it-all tradition alive. Once inside the Met Gala, her secret outfit change involved shedding her latex Saint Laurent dress for a sheer, draped gown, reminiscent of the Hellenistic statues within the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Sabrina Carpenter has attended four Met Galas so far, and somehow she's already become a pro at delivering a few surprises in the glam department. After her appearance at last year's event, I spent days thinking about her special Louis Vuitton-themed manicure, and now that she's come back for another stroll around the red carpet for tonight's "Fashion Is Art" theme, I can't stop obsessing over the details in her black French manicure.

But it actually goes deeper than that—and I absolutely love it. “Really meaningful manicure for weekend 2,” writes Ganzorigt. “Every color is intentionally picked. Inspired by Swag 1&2 album, Canadian Flag, and Brazilian flag.”

Emily Blunt’s Spring Florals

For the Devil Wear’s Prada 2 premiere, it only made sense to reference one its most famous iconic lines. Celebrity nail artist Julie Kandalec was inspired by that and the floral gem manis that have taken over social feeds. “I think they’re so pretty, but for the premiere, we decided on a clear crystal center, with pearls as the flower petals instead of gems,” Kandalec tells Marie Claire. “The pearls lent a more elevated look, perfect for the red carpet.”

She goes on to say that the red base matches Blunt’s red lips (done by celebrity makeup artist Jenn Streicher) and the pearl decals match Blunt’s Mikimoto pearl accessories. So sure, Miranda Priestly may have scoffed at the idea of florals for spring, but that was 20 years ago. “Now, it’s not groundbreaking," says Kandalec. "It’s perfect.”

According to celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik, Selena had one request for her spring mani: choose colors that made her feel happy. And this mix of bright pastel blue, purple, magenta, and green shades do just that. “That was a pretty simple look,” Bachik tells Marie Claire. “So we went with fun, bright, energetic shades that were one-off from the expected.”

Angel Nails

Priscilla Delgado’s Angel in this season of Euphoria is a great addition. No spoiler territory here, so I’m just going to marvel at this fun baby French manicure. Created by celebrity nail artist Caroline Cotten, these nails are feminine and powerful to align with Delgado’s character.

“[Angel] has this mix of fierce confidence and emotional sensitivity that inspired us to design a nail that also had a mix of both attitude and softness,” Cotten tells Marie Claire. “Writing her name Angel on the nails scream, ‘I’m confident and no one can f— with me.”

Playing on the angelic theme, she uses a combo of baby blue and angel whites, writing “Angel” in cursive across the tips for a nice added touch.

Madonna’s Pink Disco

Yes, Coachella is over. But I can still be in that state of mind. I love Addison Rae’s bright cherry red nails. Celebrity nail artist Kim Truong uses a glossy red shade on medium-length, rounded nails, perfect for the pop girlies.

While most of the pictures and clips in the 2025 recap were shared without any additional captions or context, Carpenter added a brief explanation to the photo of the fire-damaged bathroom countertop, writing, "set my bathroom on fire by accident," and heart emoji, both in small white text positioned in the basin of the sink.

Carpenter didn't offer any additional details about the incident, but what appears to be a candle is visible in the picture—in fact, the red, glass container is the only item on the burned countertop in the photo.

The "House Tour" singer didn't offer any more details about the bathroom fire, but, from the look she shared at the aftermath, it's easy to see why the incident made the cut as one of Carpenter's most memorable 2025 moments, at very least.

Late December has a way of triggering feelings of nostalgia and reflection in a lot of us, and Carpenter is clearly a member of the New Year's nostalgia club. Last year, as she prepared to close the door on 2024, Carpenter leaned hard into the nostalgia impulse, gifting fans a very vintage clip of herself belting out Carrie Underwood’s “I Ain’t in Checotah Anymore" when she was just a kid.

The ex in question would seem to be Barry Keoghan, who Carpenter dated for roughly a year before they split last December. Fans' assumption that Carpenter reposted the TikTok with Keoghan in mind makes sense, since the singer hasn't publicly dated anyone since their breakup—and since the TikTok included her hit song "Manchild," which is widely-believed to have been written about Keoghan after their split.

Shortly after Carpenter and Keoghan's relationship ended, a source close to the singer told Entertainment Tonight, “Things didn’t end well, and they are taking space from each other. Sabrina and Barry are definitely broken up right now. Sabrina isn’t sad over the breakup and is staying busy and distracted.”⁠

Staying busy and distracted wasn't too difficult for Carpenter, whose iconic "I'm working late, 'cause I'm a singer" lyric from "Espresso" was inspired by her own busy work schedule.

While the song isn't explicitly holiday-themed, Carpenter described it as a "cathartic Christmas crashout song" in her Instagram post announcing the release.

"[T]o thank you for such a beautiful year …and to supply whoever needs a cathartic [C]hristmas crashout song… Man’s best friend bonus track edition with one of my favorites ‘Such a Funny Way’ is now officially available on streaming 🤍🐾 ,' she wrote in the caption of the announcement post on Instagram, alongside a gallery of photos in the Man's Best Friend album's aesthetic.

"[I] love you guys so much," she continued in the caption. "Thank you for caring for these songs the way i do and for such a special 2025!! I feel lucky to know there’s still so much good to come x."

Carpenter also released a lyric video for "Such a Funny Way," which includes footage that appears to have been shot during the photoshoot for the alternate cover, after the controversy ignited by the original Man's Best Friend album art.

While Carpenter released "Such a Funny Way" on streaming platforms as a holiday gift, the song was originally made available to purchase as a digital download on September 4, just under a week after Man's Best Friend's August 29 release date.

Sabrina Carpenter is officially done with her long-running Short n' Sweet tour, and to mark the occasion, it looks like she's getting ready to take a brief break from the glam that defined the era in favor of the no-makeup makeup look.

The Manchild singer attend the 2025 Variety Hitmakers brunch in Los Angeles, where she took home the Hitmaker of the Year award. On October 26, I watched Carpenter's latest "arrest" with my own eyes, when Anne Hathaway was the lucky winner of her fuzzy pink handcuffs.

Hathaway swapped a front-row seat at Vogue World: Hollywood for a special shoutout at Carpenter's first of five sold-out shows. The moment instantly went viral, both for the surprise and Hathaway's concert look.

Hathaway and Carpenter's interaction went the way most "Juno" renditions do: The singer asked Hathaway where she's from, and Hathaway answered with, "Genovia," referencing her Princess Diaries character, Mia Thermopolis, princess of Genovia. Each night on the Short n' Sweet tour opens with Sabrina Carpenter unfurling a bath towel to reveal what lies beneath: a custom corseted Victoria's Secret bodysuit and matching garters, which is styled by Jared Ellner and hand-bedazzled with 150,000 crystals. Most nights, they come in pastel blue, baby pink, lavender, or Peeps yellow. Last night, the start of the tour's final leg, she unveiled a take that immediately landed in fans' good graces.

In 2017, musician Amy Allen was sitting alongside her then-bandmates in the kind of record label meeting many artists dream of. But as one of their tracks played in a room full of execs, she couldn’t ignore the “sinking feeling” in her stomach that she “wasn’t good enough.”

Eight years later, the Grammy-winning songwriter considers that moment to be the one she realized she wanted to pursue songwriting for other artists rather than performing herself—and just how determined she was to do so. Speaking to Marie Claire of the turning point, she says: “I listened and was like, How dare I try to get signed to a label before I fully believe in it? And I didn’t yet. I was like, I know I can write better songs than that.”

The next day, the Berklee College of Music alum amicably parted ways with her band and gave herself a year to focus on her craft. “I don't know where that came from within me, to feel confident in making those decisions, but I did,” Allen, 33, says. The hitmaker is perhaps best known as Sabrina Carpenter’s partner-in-crime, lending witticisms across 2024’s Short n’ Sweet, her recent August release Man’s Best Friend, as well as select songs on 2022’s Emails I Can’t Send. She’s also worked with just about everyone dominating the charts, from pop phenoms (Charli xcx, Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo) to country stars (Kacey Musgraves, Luke Combs, Megan Moroney) to K-pop faves (JENNIE, Rosé) and more. “For a really long time, I felt like songwriting had to be me alone in the corner of my bedroom, writing in my notebook—and if it didn't make somebody feel like they wanted to cry, I wasn't doing my job,” Allen says. “I had this come-to-Jesus moment when ‘Adore You’ by Harry Styles, which I wrote with Harry, [came out]...That broke down this wall in my brain where I was like, Oh, music doesn't always have to be this really serious, heart-wrenching thing. There are so many avenues songs can live in for people.”

Here, Allen opens up about what it’s like getting in the studio with everybody’s favorite artists, why pop is more thrilling than ever, and more.

Marie Claire: In recent years, you’ve transitioned from writing one-off songs for an artist to being involved in the entire record. What has that been like?

Amy Allen: I did cross-country running in high school, and sometimes my work would feel like that: You go in, the session starts at 1, and it’s going to be over at 7. The second the gun goes off, it's a dead sprint to try to write the best possible song. Getting to spend more time with artists across the board has been so fulfilling. With Sabrina on Short n’ Sweet and Man's Best Friend, it has honestly made me fall back in love with music because I get to spend more time with her as a friend. And I get to become better at what I do every day because I'm honing my craft alongside somebody, learning from them simultaneously, and digging into my own experiences.

MC: Can you recall a specific instance where you felt like you were falling back in love with music again?

AA: Doing “APT.” with Rosé, I walked in that day, and Rosé was talking about this Korean drinking game, and I was learning it. Never in my life would I have been like, “This is something that we could turn into a song,” and then our other co-writer on that song, Theron [Thomas], walked in and was like, “What are you guys doing? That has to be a song.” That was such a learning moment for me, because at first I was like, “What’s he talking about? How are we going to make this into a song?” and then once we started going up, we were all like, “Of course this is a song.”

It felt so exciting for me to be a part of something so new and came about in such a foreign way. I feel like I would've never gotten to that place of daring to go down that road if I hadn't already spent so many days with Rosé.

MC: What is your secret sauce to get somebody to open up to you?

AA: I'm the least qualified therapist of all time. I think it's because I'm one of three sisters. I'm the youngest, and so I would take a lot in. I was born a listener.

The reason why I continue to fall in love with songwriting is because every artist requires me to tap into a different part of my brain, [like], I haven't gone through that specifically, but I remember going through something similar when I was 18, and I can pull from that. Sometimes I feel like we're talking about things, and I'm like, That reminds me of this breakup. And then I'm like, Oh, maybe I haven't processed this, because I'm still very upset even just thinking about that, or vice versa, like, Wow, I thought I still was hanging on, but I don't care about that person at all anymore.

But truly, there is no special sauce; it just comes out of curiosity and love for music.

MC: Have you ever met an artist and had a certain expectation of how working together might go, but then wound up completely surprised?

AA: All the time. It’s really hard when you’re a fan of somebody, like I remember the first time I went in with Harry [Styles] being nervous. I [thought] this person has such a huge world following, they'll be really guarded in what they want to talk about. And nine times out of 10, I'm always pleasantly surprised with who the artist is at their core, how open they are, and how genuine they are about their craft, their songwriting, and their art. It continuously restores my faith in humanity because even these people with the craziest lives and the biggest followings and the pressure that fame can put on you, it always gets stripped down to they are exactly like all of us, and we can connect on these really fundamental human levels.

Of course, everybody’s had probably one ‘death of a hero’ story where they go in with somebody that they’re like, This is going to be the best thing ever, and then there’s no chemistry. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't had those moments, but for the most part, I'm always so excited at who these artists are at their core and how special they are.

MC: You and Sabrina Carpenter integrate a lot of humor into her songs. Why have you been drawn to bringing more of a sense of humor into mainstream pop?

AA: I didn't know that that was a part of my writing that I could really express until meeting Sabrina. It almost feels like she's broken this fourth wall.

Something so refreshing for me with Sabrina is [that] she was the first artist I got to work with who was like, Nah, come on in. I'm going to take you on this whole tour of my ups and downs. She's so expressive, honest, and vulnerable—and at the same time, she's also so witty, and I feel like that's why so many people can resonate with her.

I've learned so much about writing just by being her friend, and then, of course, being in the room with her, and getting to explore these new curiosities about songwriting and how far you can really push the boundaries in pop music. When I look back on it now, there have been people that I've listened to that have incorporated bits of that in their artistry forever that I grew up on—Dolly [Parton] is really quirky and funny, and John Prine. I’m so grateful that we have somebody in our generation doing that so profoundly.

MC: Do you ever find it challenging to be that honest and vulnerable all the time?

AA: I've been writing my whole life, but really going into rooms with people every day [for seven years now and], feeling like they're taking your shirt off and being like, “Here I am! What do you think?” feels kind of like a muscle now. There are definitely people I've worked with where it feels like I'm a little bit insecure to do that—maybe it takes two hours or four hours before I'm fully diving in. But there's this saying within the songwriting community: Dare to suck. If everybody's afraid to be vulnerable and to say something stupid, or it isn't the most flattering thing, then no good song gets written.

There are so many days when I look back and I'm like, That song will never see the light of day, but the conversation I had with the artist that day was 10 times worth what the song would've been like. Those moments of vulnerability and bearing your own humanity, the embarrassing bits of you, always end up being worth it in my experience.

MC: The statistics regarding female songwriters are growing, but still pretty dismal. How have you had to navigate advocating for yourself in the industry?

AA: That didn't really hit me until I moved to L.A., I started getting into a lot of sessions, and I was like, I haven't seen another woman for six months. For sure, I’ve had to advocate for myself, and my manager, Gabz [Landman], is phenomenal. I think having another woman as my partner in crime through all of this has been invaluable for me to look up to her and have her advocate for me, and give me the confidence to advocate for myself.

Even in the past seven years I've been doing it, now I'm working with a bunch of female producers and a bunch of female engineers. We just don't get to work—we have to seek each other out to be in the same room together. But still, it's an exciting place of good change right now.

MC: You’ve said before that you’re scared of writing a song that sounds like a standard No. 1. Do you allow that fear to fuel you and allow yourself to go in unexpected ways while writing?

AA: I try my best to never create from a place of, “We're going to write a hit today.” But now, something that’s so exciting about pop music is the way it’s harder to call it. For instance, with the past two Sabrina albums, there are key changes, and it's more musical than anything in the past 10 years has been on radio. I feel like I was indoctrinated into this thinking of, If it's too many chords, the average listener is going to tune out, or, If you're talking about something too personal and specific, the listener is not going to resonate with that. It's been really fun to debunk those things every single time because I feel like the most exciting thing for me in music in the past few years is finding out that the listener is way more than capable of following you down those paths—and not only capable of falling you down that path, but rooting for you to do that.

The 2025 MTV VMAs were every bit The Sabrina Show. Sabrina Carpenter went viral a handful of times last night: first for her Valentino-clad red carpet walk, then for singing in the rain à la Britney Spears.

The Sabrina Show stretched to the after-party circuit, too. Once the lights lifted inside New York's UBS Arena, celebrities boogied to Refuge NYC in Brooklyn. A disco-dressed Carpenter awaited the arrivals of Tate McRae, Ice Spice, and more for Sabrina54, a Gen Z-ified take on the iconic '70s club, Studio54. The drag queens from Carpenter's "Tears" performance also RSVP-ed yes to the retro-looking bash. RuPaul's Drag Race Season 4 contestant, Willam, shared a sneak peek at Carpenter's soirée, plus her on-theme outfit.

The evening's host looked straight out of the infamous venue in circa-1975 Bob Mackie. Originally, Mackie had created the halter-neck bodysuit for Cher's The Cher Show performance with Tina Turner. It looked good as new on Carpenter, from fringed pink and blue panels to cascading mirror appliqués. Tens of circular mirrors covered the entire almost 50-year-old design.

Carpenter and stylist Jared Ellner have always fancied a vintage find, whether it be Chantal Thomass lingerie or Karl Lagerfeld-era Chanel. For the 2024 VMAs red carpet, they sourced one of Madonna's vintage sequin Bob Mackie dresses in a special homage. But wearing Cher's exact Bob Mackie? That's a sartorial feat worthy of an honorary Moon Person. You may recognize Carpenter's disco-ready dress from a The Cher Show highlight: Cher and Turner's "Shame Shame Shame" duet, which premiered in April 1975.

Both icons wore custom Bob Mackie one-pieces, lined with grosgrain ribbons and mirrored discs. The asymmetrical car wash skirts electrified the already-dynamic performance, revealing their legs with each twirl.

Fast forward to 2018, and Cher and Turner's bodysuits-turned-dresses appeared at a Beverly Hills auction, which spotlighted custom designs from the '70s and beyond. After 11 bids, Cher's Bob Mackie sold for $6,400, in all its disco ball-ish glory. Turner's slightly shorter style retailed for $8,960, following just four bids.

At just 26 years old, Carpenter is cementing herself as one of my generation's greats. Her red carpet fashion is always memorable—as evidenced by her stellar homage to Cher. If you add her singing, dancing, and songwriting skills to the mix, she's a coupé away from icon status.

Sabrina Carpenter's fans are sufficiently spoiled. After releasing two albums back-to-back, she returned to the 2025 MTV VMAs—not just on the red carpet, but for a center-stage performance, too.

Stylist Jared Ellner had his work cut out for him. Sabrina Carpenter required not one, but two designer looks this evening. Since the Grammy winner arrived at New York's UBS Arena an hour before showtime, she had plenty of time to swap her custom Valentino naked dress for an on-theme costume.

Carpenter synced her performance grand entrance to the first strings chord in "Tears." The second Man's Best Friend record went viral for its '80s disco-inspired instrumentals, so Carpenter followed suit on the fashion front. She emerged out of a literal manhole wearing a long-sleeve off-the-shoulder top covered in rhinestone fringe. It mimicked the custom Victoria's Secret one-piece she wore in the "Tears" music video, which paid homage to a 2003 Naomi Campbell look.

The MTV VMAs is famously a quick-change-friendly zone (see Lady Gaga's "Applause" performance in 2013). Half-way through the disco track, Carpenter followed Gaga's lead, ditching her first fringed top for a more risqué version. An entire halter-neck bra was covered in rhinestones, stretching from balconette cups onto under-bust rhinestone drapery. She even swapped out her skirt for semi-sheer tights and underwear worn as pants.

To literalize some of her "Tears" lyrics, she channeled her inner Britney Spears under a rainstorm. The award-worthy moment reminded Marie Claire editors of Spears's "Baby One More Time" performance on her 2001 Within a Dream tour. For a quick recap: Carpenter's fellow blonde wore a strikingly similar bra and hot pants combo as rain poured down.

Carpenter's fans knew her performance would leave quite an impression. They flooded VMAs's comment section with excitement for weeks. "Oh boy, I can‘t wait to see Sabrina!" one fan wrote, obviously referencing the spoken intro of "Manchild."

Last year, Carpenter set a high bar for herself, singing "Please Please Please," "Taste," and "Espresso" in one five-minute slot. "Please Please Please" began with Carpenter suspended in mid-air, wearing a custom crystal-covered bodysuit from Victoria's Secret. Even her Christian Louboutin Mary Janes sparkled with hundreds of Swarovski rhinestones.

After a quick makeout session with an alien, Carpenter ditched a high-neck bodice, revealing her plunging sweetheart neckline. Turns out, an eye-catching pendant necklace was hidden beneath the extra fabric. Its ruby gemstone matched the kiss marks atop her tights and hips.

In 2024, Carpenter was new to the VMAs stage, having only been nominated once for "Espresso." Since then, however, her award show performances have only gotten bolder. In February 2025, she took center stage at the Grammy Awards, before winning her first trophy for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Carpenter sang "Please Please Please" and "Espresso" half-way through the broadcast, blending physical comedy and innuendos with ease. First, the spotlight found her in a sequin tuxedo dress custom-made for her by Dolce & Gabbana. It wasn't inherently saucy, but it was nostalgic—the other, more family-friendly side of Carpenter's trademark aesthetic. Similar to her VMAs performance look, she paired the costume with sparkly red-bottom Mary Janes.

Before breaking into the catchy chorus, Carpenter stripped down to a baby blue corset, also with Dolce & Gabbana tags. The pastel shade is one of her signature shades, inspired by her love of '60s-era fashion and music.

Once again, she went with a strapless bodysuit, featuring monochrome gemstones in place of boning. Looking every bit a Showgirl, she layered a feather-embellished shawl overtop. Maybe Taylor Swift will borrow it come Oct. 3.

Carpenter is collecting award-worthy performances looks like infinity stones. If I'm lucky, she'll secure an on-stage slot at the 2026 Grammys.

No one could've predicted Sabrina Carpenter would compete in another award cycle this soon after Short n' Sweet. (Not even me, an OG Carpenter.) But here she is, in her red carpet outfit at the 2025 MTV VMAs, representing Man's Best Friend.

Two weeks after her seventh studio album dropped, Carpenter hit the 2025 MTV VMAs red carpet (her first since the Man's Best Friend era began). The Grammy winner is up for eight nominations, including Best Album for Short n' Sweet and Video of the Year for "Manchild." So, it's only right she teamed up with Jared Ellner again, the same stylist behind the record's controversial cover.

An hour before the first Moon Person was presented, Carpenter posed for photographers in a sheer long-sleeve naked dress. As I suspected, Valentino custom-made the look just for Carpenter. It was covered in sequined ruby lace from the turtleneck to the floor-grazing hem. A nude under-bust corset peeked through the illusion mesh. Sky-high platforms, also in red, added some height to the 5'2" pop star's look. A lavender boa draped around her wrists. Red and purple is an unexpected color combination for Carpenter, given her penchant for '60s-inspired pastels. Nonetheless, it's a move applauded by Marie Claire editors.

Carpenter's gown fulfilled the sparkle quota tenfold, so she kept her jewelry to a minimum. She borrowed diamond drop earrings and a matching ring from Tiffany & Co., which peeked out occasionally. According to the label, the single sparkler on her right hand features over ten carats.

Carpenter is returning to the VMAs, both as a guest and a performer, after taking home her first Moon Person last year. ICYMI, everyone from Doechii to Taylor Swift rooted for her as she accepted the Song of the Year award for "Espresso."

She thanked her fans, family, and "cats and dogs at home watching" in a vintage Bob Mackie gown, originally worn by Madonna at the 1991 Oscars. Ellner and L.A. boutique, Tab Vintage, ensured it looked good as new, from the scalloped neckline to the tiny train. The entire strapless style was hand-beaded with pearls and crystals, hence its opalescent sheen. An over-$200,000 diamond necklace from De Beers featured the same gemstones.

Historically, the VMAs are a costume change-friendly zone—see Lady Gaga's 2013 "Applause" performance for proof. Of course Carpenter followed Gaga's lead, swapping Bob Mackie for Victoria's Secret to sing "Please Please Please," "Taste," and "Espresso."

Carpenter shined in a barely-there bodysuit among a sea of dancers-turned-astronauts. It mimicked the same color palette and curvature of her Bob Mackie gown, except with shorts in place of a skintight skirt. Always on board for a jaw-dropping moment, Carpenter made out with an alien with her kiss-covered tights on full display.

Carpenter has been on the VMAs' radar since 2022, when she released her fifth studio album, Emails I Can't Send. Sure, she wasn't nominated, but she brought her fashion A-game in a floral gown from Moschino. Carpenter's black Jennifer Behr headband was equally '60s-inspired. The cutouts along her neckline and waist added that signature Sabrina Spice I know and love her for.

In 2023, Carpenter secured another invite to the VMAs. She was working on Short n' Sweet at the time, so her saucy mood impacted her red carpet attire.

Carpenter stole the show in custom Vera Wang, complete with a peek-a-boo bustier and tulle drapery hung like bed sheets. The completely sheer skirt trailed behind Carpenter as she walked.

At this rate, Carpenter will be a loyal VMAs guest for decades to come. Who knows? Maybe she'll be promoting another chart-topping album this time next year. In June, Carpenter told Rolling Stone she was inspired by artists like Dolly Parton and Linda Rondstadt. "They would release a 10-song album every year. When did we stop doing that? Writers write, they make music, and they release music." What I'm hearing is Carpenter wants to follow their lead. A girl can dream.

For me, the best portion of a pop star's album rollout is their interview with New Zealand-based DJ Zane Lowe. (Besides the actual record's release, of course.) Over the years, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and more have appeared on Lowe's show, each time with album insight and a stellar press outfit in tow.

Sabrina Carpenter joined the ranks on September 3, mere days after her seventh studio album, Man's Best Friend, dropped. The hour-long tell-all immediately made waves for director Jennifer Juniper Stratford's 1967-era set. (She's also the brain behind the "Manchild" and "Tears" music videos.) Even in black-and-white, Carpenter shined in a vintage Chantal Thomass skirt set, circa Spring/Summer 1995.

Stylist Jared Ellner helped Carpenter track down the off-the-shoulder top and a mini skirt. As seen on the runway, the two-piece is mostly black with ivory lace embroidery. Rumor has it, they sourced it from French secondhand label, Emerieu. Though it debuted four years before Carpenter was born, it felt right up her alley—especially the cutouts surrounding a plunging bodice. The hem of her thigh-length skirt featured the same lace trim, except with ruffles.

Unless you're a deep-cut fashion person, Chantal Thomass isn't a household name. From the '70s through the '90s, the French designer dominated the Paris fashion scene and is credited with the rise of lingerie worn as outerwear. Given Carpenter's affinity for risqué attire, it's no wonder Thomass's designs made it into her Man's Best Friend promo trail.

Another Thomass piece popped up for a split second in the now-viral "Manchild" music video. Carpenter pulled off a pink gingham bra while sitting a tub with pigs. It was a hidden gem in Last Platinum Vintage, one of her favorite L.A. boutiques for one-of-a-kind finds.

Thomass stepped away from her eponymous lingerie label in 2018. However, her under-turned-outer-garments are experiencing a second coming at the hands of Carpenter and Dua Lipa.

In Jan. 2025, Lipa "danced her way into the new year" in a navy fur-covered bra from Chantal Thomass Fall/Winter 1993. She paired it with the matching ankle-length coat, of course.

As a longtime brand enthusiast, I'm overjoyed that the It-girl crowd found Chantal Thomass. Her designs are tricky to track down—but once a stylist does, it's always a look book-worthy moment. A skirt set-clad Carpenter is proof.

Sabrina Carpenter has had an exciting week, so it's only right for her newest manicure to be equally as thrilling. Her most recent set is a combination of three of summer's biggest nail trends, but it also features a subtle design that's a reminder of the "new era" she's in.

Carpenter is currently on a press tour promoting her seventh studio album, Man's Best Friend, which released on Aug. 29, and she's clearly been using some themes from the album to inspire some of her looks lately. Her nail tech, Zola Ganzorigt, shared a few photos of her manicure to Instagram over the weekend, and in one pic, the singer is seen wearing a funky French manicure customized with butter yellow tips and brown polka dots, three nail design elements that have all been having a major moment this year. Her thumb nail also featured a small, brown paw print painted near the cuticle, likely a nod to the name of her album.

Polka dot manicures have been trending all summer, and this is Carpenter's third time wearing the design. In the "Manchild" music video, which debuted back in June, she wore a dainty manicure with a nude base and mini white polka dots on top before following that up with a second polka dot manicure with white polka dots and rhinestones. Other stars like Dua Lipa and Kylie Jenner have also been seen wearing the trend pretty often: Lipa wore a polka dot French manicure with black tips while vacationing in Europe over the summer, while Jenner wore a similar design featuring traditional white tips and rhinestones.
