There’s a particular kind of woman Gen Z struggles with, and her name is Carrie Bradshaw.

Spend five minutes on TikTok, and you’ll find the Sex and the City character's trial laid out in full: financially irresponsible, emotionally chaotic, not a “girl’s girl,” and chronically drawn to men who should have been blocked by episode three. The verdict, it seems, is unanimous. And yet, you can’t convince me.

Because, while the charges are not entirely inaccurate, they miss the most endearing part about Carrie: she refused to be categorized. And in a culture increasingly obsessed with neat identities—clean girl, quiet luxury, coastal grandmother, balletcore—this may be her greatest offense. Carrie was never one thing, but I think that was the point.

One day, she was in a razor-sharp three-piece suit, and the next, a tulle skirt that had no business being worn after the age of five (but she did, and then we all wanted to wear tutus too!). She paired vintage fur with bare legs, sequins with sweatshirts, and wore sky-high stilettos to casually pick up milk. Nothing “matched” and yet everything worked.

In the end, it wasn’t even really about the style. It was about permission. Carrie gave us permission to wear a slip dress at noon. To treat a sequin skirt like knitwear. To carry a tiny, impractical bag simply because it delighted her.

In Carrie’s world, which became all of ours, nothing belonged to just one category. She dismantled the idea that clothes had rules—and replaced it with something far more interesting: instinct.

Gaining entry into Carrie-esque dressing requires not falling into the obvious trap of treating her like an aesthetic to replicate. No, Carrie is an attitude to adopt. You don’t dress like Carrie. You dress like yourself…just braver. That said, if you’re looking for entry points, here are some cheat notes.

The Unexpected Pairing

Take something traditionally “precious” and ground it. Consider a tulle skirt with a grey sweatshirt, satin heels with worn-in denim, or a silk blouse half-tucked into something almost too casual.

The Statement Shoe

Carrie understood the power of a shoe that delivers. Think: a strappy sandal in an impractical color, or a heel that feels slightly excessive for the occasion. That’s the good stuff.

The Wild Card Piece

Every outfit needs one item that doesn’t quite make sense on paper. A vintage brooch. A feathered bag. A belt that feels borderline unnecessary.

The “Why Not?” Dress

Wear the dress. Not later—now. To dinner, to errands, to nowhere in particular. Carrie democratized glamour long before it became a buzzword.

Attention, Sex and the City fans. No need to queue up the 2008 film's opening scene to see Sarah Jessica Parker's first dress: Zendaya just gave the little white dress its red carpet debut at the 2026 Essence Black Women in Hollywood event.

Marking her first official red carpet since the 2025 Met Gala, Zendaya and Law Roach returned to reclaim their styling crowns on March 12. Z showed out in "one of the most iconic dresses in movie history," in Roach's words. The vintage Caché dress—including a single strap, ruched center, and thigh-high slit—looked custom-made for Zendaya. Roach confirmed he "found it," it being Parker's exact number, down to the oversize 3D floral appliqué atop her shoulder. Gold-flaked feathers sprouted out from the rose's center, before stretching onto the dress's bust and waist. There's even more history than the SATC reference: It's also a replica of the Eugene Alexander dress worn by Whitney Houston in 1987.

The Carrie-ness of it all stopped there: Zendaya traded Parker's Christian Dior Gladiator Sandals for her go-to Christian Louboutin So Kates. The Euphoria actor's arm was also noticeably missing one Barneys shopping bag and a canary yellow clutch. Instead, she flaunted a new wedding band—her second one this week—from Cartier.

On Tuesday, Zendaya attended Louis Vuitton's Fall 2026 fashion show with a studded, $3,050 Cartier ring on that finger. This time, she switched out her Jessica McCormack east-west diamond in favor of Cartier's $4,100 Extra-Large Trinity Ring. (At this rate, she'll have a wedding ring collection to rival Victoria Beckham's 15 sparklers in no time.) The ring matched her mixed-metal, $7,500 Trinity Earrings, also from Cartier. Zendaya's Cartier Love Bracelet, on the other hand, was just 18k yellow gold.

This isn't the first time Zendaya paid homage to SJP's Carrie Bradshaw. During the 2024 Challengers press tour, she and Roach got their hands on a vintage Vivienne Westwood Spring 1994 skirt set. Parker wore a similar Vivienne Westwood mini skirt—featuring the same back feather bustle—in Season 4 of Sex and the City.

It seems Zendaya plans on continuing her bridal style streak, even if she has to track down an almost 20-year-old white dress to do so. If her red carpet looks are this wedding-inspired before The Drama press tour begins, I, for one, can't wait to see the star in full bridal mode. (She plays a bride in crisis in the thriller-comedy.) It's the closest I'll get to seeing her in a wedding gown, so I'm soaking up every moment.

Fans and hate-watchers of Sex and the City spinoff And Just Like That... are not okay. Following the announcement that the HBO Max series will wrap at the end of its third season, the show's cast took to social media to share their thoughts about Carrie Bradshaw's story coming to an end. Sex and the City icon Kim Cattrall, who portrayed Samantha Jones in the original series and subsequent movies, also posted on Instagram, and fans are wondering if she was subtly referencing And Just Like That... abruptly ending.

Actress Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte York, re-shared showrunner Michael Patrick King's statement announcing the end of And Just Like That... and added her own emotional message. "I am profoundly sad," Davis captioned her Instagram post. "I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love...And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever." She also commented on the post, writing, "Thank you to you all...You hold me up and I do not take it for granted."

Meanwhile, Cattrall—who famously declined returning for the Sex and the City spinoff—shared a photo of a beautiful sunset, along with the caption, "It's the end of a very long week."

Even though Cattrall's Instagram didn't reference the Sex and the City spinoff, fans interpreted the timing of her post as being connected to the show's cancellation.

Cynthia Nixon, who has played Miranda Hobbs throughout the franchise, shared her own tribute on Instagram. "I can't believe our wild beautiful And Just Like That ride is almost over," she captioned her post. "It has been such a delight from start to finish. I will miss working with these people everyday SO incredibly much but know we will always be a part of each other's lives. Get ready for a lot more carousels in the weeks to come! And don't miss these last few episodes: surprises in store!"

Still, most And Just Like That... hate-watchers will agree: there's no better time to start planning that Samantha Jones in London spinoff starring Cattrall.

There is a great Anne Boyer poem called “At Least Two Types of People.” The first type of person makes sense in society: “They are not alien from the creation and maintenance of the world, and the world does not treat them as alien.” They intuitively know the right way to sit, stand, eat, dress. The second type does not have it so easy. This type repels and resists, and is someone “for whom the salaries and weddings and garages do not come.” Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City and the considerably more deranged reboot And Just Like That… raises the possibility of a third type of person.

At 58-ish years old, despite having all the material trappings of the first type and (almost) none of the bad luck of the second, Carrie fits the definition of alien exactly. (That run-walk always felt off...) She is in a long-distance situationship with the most annoying man this side of Appalachia, is writing historical romance fiction inspired by the rats in her backyard, and still hasn’t bought furniture for her Gramercy Park home that features a grumpy-hot British tenant she won’t admit she’s attracted to. She got the job, the boyfriend, and the apartment in the city where she argues you’re always looking for one of the three (see: episode 5, season 5 of Sex and the City), yet she’s having bad phone sex and wearing hats that give her the appearance of a cottagecore Speedy Gonzales.

Amid this sorry state of affairs, we have one last bastion of relatability—a potential window into the psyche of the third type of person: the books she reads. The hardbacks Carrie carts around in lieu of a Gucci top-handle or Fendi baguette might just reveal the emotions she obfuscates with quippy one-liners.

While Carrie has always been a reader, trophies of literary fiction appear in AJLT as more welcome product placement than Carrie’s egregious ingestion of TUMS. The books are, in part, star and executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker’s influence, as she provided the props team with literary suggestions for different characters. The actress has said to plow through two volumes a day in the run-up to her duties as a Booker Prize judge, a great excuse for why she doesn’t watch her own show. (SJP also has an imprint with independent press Zando, publishing work by contemporary women novelists, including Lucy Caldwell’s prizewinning These Days.)

I found myself pausing the show whenever a book appeared, hoping for a crumb of intertextual honesty. While we could interpret the vintage reissue of Helen Garner’s This House of Grief as a mere styling complement to a purple satin tunic, I couldn’t help but wonder: Was reading a book about, say, a father’s trial for the murder of his children a sign of plot points to come? A diegetic cry for help? Below are my findings (though I’m bereft to report I’m no closer to locating where in the world Che Diaz is).

'This House of Grief' by Helen Garner

Beloved Australian writer Helen Garner has only recently caught on in the U.S.; Carrie must have read the New Yorker profile that described Garner as “candid about her emotions, analyzing them with a degree of remove which allows her to illustrate, with an unsparing empathy, how irrational we all can be, and how little we understand of our own behavior, let alone that of those around us.” This House of Grief is an interesting choice. The nonfiction book recounts the 2005 trial of Robert Farquharson, a man charged with drowning his three sons, ages 10, 7, and 2, by driving his car into a dam.

Blame it on being a boy dad, but the transcripts of Farquharson on the witness stand reminded me of Aidan (John Corbett) at his whiniest: “I should have been there, Carrie…I should have been there.” Carrie has remained democratic about the situation regarding Aidan’s problem child, Wyatt. But after he “accidentally” bashed her in the head during laser tag, I wouldn’t blame her for indulging in the fantasy of a little roadside accident portrayed as a crime of passion.

'Evenings and Weekends' by Oisín McKenna

Spied between the bulges at Anthony’s (Mario Cantone) newly opened Hot Fellas bakery is Carrie’s U.K. edition of Evenings and Weekends by Oisín McKenna, a novel about gay 20-somethings sucking and fucking their way through a hot summer in London. Carrie has always been alarmingly prudish and out of touch for a sex columnist. She couldn’t stomach dating a bisexual man in the ‘90s and refused to say “vagina” in an ad on her podcast, resulting in its entire collapse, putting her comedian co-hosts Che Diaz (Sara Ramírez) on the street and Jackie Nee (Bobby Lee) off the wagon. So this fever dream of a book about love and lust is also research. What is it like to see a naked body that isn’t Aidan’s or Big’s? Would she ever again feel the sense that she was “alone in an enormous city, and there were dozens of shapes her life might take”?

Carrie is probably also using McKenna’s prose to better picture Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) in London, where “fashion queers strut past the station dressed like early 2000s pop stars and characters from The Matrix.” The PR maven doesn’t deign to give Carrie a scene report herself—she appears only as an iMessage bubble about once a season, having adopted the mantra of Cattrall: “I don’t want to be in a situation for even an hour where I’m not enjoying myself.”

'The Life of the Mind' by Christine Smallwood

Christine Smallwood is the high priestess of writing about the phones. Her characters text, scroll, and photograph; the drama erupts from the screen. AJLT similarly spins around the axis of technology. Multi-episode plotlines are dedicated to boomer-style mishaps like Aidan’s thumbs-up reaction to a message or ill-timed phone sex. Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) had her phone on silent mode while she was in the editing bay with her work crush, meaning she didn’t get the call that her father had a stroke, meaning she missed saying goodbye to him when he died for the second time. Carrie once professed, “After all, computers crash, people die, relationships fall apart. The best we can do is breathe and reboot.” She’s never giving up that MacBook, so she might as well lean in.

'We Burn Daylight' by Bret Anthony Johnston

Bret Anthony Johnston’s Shakespearian novel about star-crossed lovers in a doomsday Christian cult, based on the real Waco, Texas siege, is a warning against isolation. Carrie learned too much about the Shaw family when she visited Virginia; she felt on the outside of their bond, and she seems to have accepted it. The strangest part of Aidan admitting that he slept with his ex-wife (because they were so distraught about their youngest son’s behavioral issues…?) was Carrie’s lack of a reaction. She did not expect total fidelity because they’d never defined their LDR, she explains—although this does not mean she wants to be with anyone else. Johnston is not out to shame his religious zealot characters, cut-and-dry, and instead asks the universally applicable question, “What would you sacrifice for the one you love?” Spoiler: It’s a bloody, brutal end, but the teenage lovers both survive. There might be mess. Carrie might be flirting with downstairs tenant Duncan Reeves (Jonathan Cake) too close to the sun. Still, she has so far been adamant that she has a boyfriend, Miranda. She hopes she’s the Juliet who lives.

'The Berry Pickers' by Amanda Peters

Yet another tragic splintering of a family in a rural setting? Carrie is simply obsessed with reading about dead or missing children this season. In the second Sex and the City movie, which I’m loath to remind anyone of, Carrie declared that having kids is “just not for us…It’s just not who we are,” meaning her and Big. (Carrie’s childlessness could have been built out as an intriguing plot point in AJLT, but that would require the writers to learn subtlety and sensitivity.) Amanda Peters’s mystery revolving around a 4-year-old Mi'kmaq girl kidnapped from a blueberry field in Maine is rich with strange coincidences—and the same can be said for Carrie’s life. She’s perpetually waiting for a sign that the man is right, that the shoe fits. If The Berry Pickers can offer any insights, it’s that the world never makes logical sense.

'Catch the Rabbit' by Lana Bastašić

A female friendship novel that doubles as a Bosnian road trip adventure, Lana Bastašić captures the tension inherent in a relationship between two women who use one another as a mirror. “I can’t recall half my childhood, yet I remember the details of her with irritating clarity,” Bastašić writes. “Blue bubble gum, watermelon flavor. A scratch on her left knee. Cracks in the red lips. One time she had told me that writers write because they don’t have memories of their own, so they make some up.” Carrie has had tiffs, rifts, and all-out rows with every one of her friends, though she is most comfortable being a bitch to Miranda (Cynthia Nixon). God forbid a houseguest help herself to a yogurt. (Though tiptoeing to the bathroom fully nude in someone else’s home is bizarre, I’ll admit.) Bastašić shows how important history is to a friendship, but if Miranda makes one more wrong move, she risks Carrie’s new pal Seema (Sarita Choudhury) replacing her entirely.

It’s one of Sex and the City’s most memorable scenes, at least among the fashion crowd: Carrie Bradshaw sprints in a pair of feather-trimmed lilac suede slingback heels, hoping to flag down the Long Island Ferry when one shoe flies off. “Waiiiit! I lost my Choo!” she screams in defeat as the boat sails away and leaves her a Jimmy Choo-less Cinderella.

The season three, episode one SATC moment helped footwear designer Jimmy Choo become a household name synonymous with luxury heels worth protecting at all costs. Three decades later, as part homage to its big TV break and part celebration of its 30th brand anniversary, Jimmy Choo is launching an archival collection of reissued silhouettes—including Carrie’s beloved kitten heel that was collateral damage to a date gone wrong.

The brand’s eight-item capsule only features pairs from its first five years of operation, from 1997 to 2001. As such, each shoe has an authentic late-’90s and early-aughts POV. It tracks well with today’s fashion trends, considering almost every other designer is on a nostalgic kick and rewinding back to the turn of the century.

Along with Carrie’s almost-lost heel, named “72138” after its serial code, Jimmy Choo’s archival collcetion includes the Strappy, a sultry, criss-crossing sandal first presented for Spring 1997, and the Thong, a high-shine heel fit with a silver chainmail vamp similar to the textiles Paris Hilton wore throughout the early 200s. Jimmy Choo is also reviving its ankle-strapped, leopard-printed Leo sandal, another heel Bradshaw helped popularize by wearing it in the HBO show’s dun-dun-dun-dun intro with a pink tank top and white tutu.

“We looked at three decades of work and dialed back to the first five years. Why? Because those years truly represent the heart and soul of Jimmy Choo—they’re our roots, where it all began,” Jimmy Choo’s creative director, Sandra Choi, explained in a press release. “And in looking at these styles, I saw ideas that are still essential to Jimmy Choo today—eternal values of glamour, of femininity, combined with make and craft.”

In yet another example of blending the past with the present, Choi worked alongside London-based fashion designer Conner Ives, whose name you know from designing the viral “Protect the Dolls” T-shirt, and the fashion journalist and critic Alexander Fury, both relevant players in the industry’s current landscape.

“This collection is about where we’ve come from, and what we stand for, and where we continue to go. It’s a celebration, pure and simple—and Jimmy Choo can always ignite a party,” said Choi.

Jimmy Choo’s archival drop, which ranges from a $795 slip-on mule to a python-printed $1,795 leather boot, is live now on the brand’s site and in select stores.

Sarah Jessica Parker is synonymous with Carrie Bradshaw, the character she plays in Sex and the City and its spin-off, And Just Like That. While Carrie generally refuses to part with her Manolo Blahniks, Parker has been known to prefer comfortable footwear, such as Dr. Scholl's sandals, from time to time. Now, the actress appears to be pioneering the next Ugg shoe every model and influencer will be wearing in 2025.

Earlier this week, Parker was photographed in Paris where she was reportedly filming a new commercial for Ugg alongside Elsa Hosk. While Hosk could be seen wearing a more traditional pair of Ugg boots, Parker opted for a furry pair of Ugg platform clogs, which don't seem to be available to shop just yet.

Since their 2024 appearance at Fashion Week, Uggs have found a celebrity fanbase, with everyone from Kaia Gerber to Kendall Jenner and Rihanna embracing the brand. SJP's endorsement is further evidence of just how huge the Ugg revival has truly become.

While The White Lotus has transported viewers to three completely different and unique destinations, cities such as Wilmington, North Carolina, provide the backdrop for some of the most iconic late '90s and early '00s teen television shows. 1. 'The White Lotus'

Every season of The White Lotus is set in a different country, taking viewers to glamorous resorts in Hawaii, Italy, and Thailand. Let's just hope no mysterious deaths occur during your stay, à la HBO's hit series.

2. 'Downton Abbey'

Julian Fellowes's historical British television drama was an instant hit with viewers around the world. Set in a fictional town in the north of England, Downton Abbey documents the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and the large staff of butlers, maids, and cooks they employ. Starting in 1912, the very same year the Titanic sank, viewers are transported to another era in which drastic class divides converge.

Luckily, viewers can visit Downton Abbey, real name Highclere Castle, which is actually located in the south of England. The palatial estate offers tours, afternoon teas, and special events. As Carrie's apartment is actually a privately owned house, it's not possible to stay in the building. However, fans can take a three-hour Sex and the City bus tour, which stops at a whole host of filming locations, including Magnolia Bakery, The Plaza Hotel, and Aidan and Steve's bar Scout. Pro tip: nab a reservation at French restaurant Pastis, where Carrie dined with her season 6 beau, Aleksandr Petrovsky.

Iconic teen TV shows Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill were both filmed in the port city, which is so aesthetically pleasing, you'll forgive the fact Tree Hill and Capeside aren't real places.

TRIC tours focus on the nightclub and recording studio that was a central part of One Tree Hill's later seasons, and it's also possible to embark on a self-guided tour of the show's most important filming spots. The famous bridge featured in One Tree Hill's opening credits is even marked on Google Maps. Even though the show is older, it's still possible to find a ton of crucial Dawson's Creek landmarks, from Joey's Wall to the unforgettable pier in the yard of the Leery house.

Insecure is Issa Rae's love letter to Los Angeles and the misadventures of an awkward Black woman—which just so happens to be the name of her book. Throughout five seasons, Issa Dee and her best friend Molly Carter navigated the messy experiences of falling love, breaking up, building careers, sustaining friendships, and trying to find their footing.

With neighborhoods like Inglewood and Leimert Park as the backdrop, Insecure provided a roadmap to some of the city's lesser known but completely unmissable restaurants. Fans point to Mexican restaurant Damian, food store Simply Wholesome, Ethiopian restaurant Merkato, and Hilltop Coffee, which Rae co-owns, as important stops on the tour. Banbridge in Northern Ireland is home to the official Game of Thrones Studio Tour, an exhibition housing authentic costumes, props, sets, and behind-the-scenes secrets relating to the HBO series. An impressive range of walking and coach tours are also available via Game of Thrones Tours, taking fans to some of the show's pivotal locations, from castle ruins to ancient abbeys in and around Belfast. It's also possible to visit Old Castle Ward, an 18th century mansion in Strangford, County Down, which doubled as Winterfell Castle.

7. 'The Prisoner'

British television series The Prisoner starred Irish American actor Patrick McGoohan as a former intelligence officer known only as Number Six. Filmed in the quaint and idiosyncratic tourist village of Portmeirion in Gwynedd, North Wales, The Prisoner was specifically filmed in color to capture the bold hues and dramatic architecture of its location.

Whether or not you've watched The Prisoner, Portmeirion is an indelible vacation destination. The village's Central Piazza features an ornamental garden, while its colorful buildings appear to draw their inspiration from the Italian Riviera. 8. 'Emily in Paris'

If you've already been honing your French girl beauty skills, a trip to Paris might be on the horizon. Although some of season 5 of Emily in Paris is set to take place in Rome, there's literally never a bad time to book a flight to France. One of the most important locations featured in Netflix's Lily Collins-starring show is The Place de l'Estrapade in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, which is where Emily and Gabriel live. And, yes, it's possible to stay in their building.

The square outside Emily's apartment features a gorgeous fountain, and Boulangerie Moderne, the bakery at which our titular character discovers authentic pain au chocolat. Terra Nera, an Italian restaurant in the square, transforms into Gabriel's Les Deux Compères in the series. Venturing further afield, Emily's workplace, Savoir, is located at 6 Place de Valois, another chic square featuring hotels, restaurants, and galleries. Special mention must go to Jardin du Luxembourg, the tree-lined park and gardens where Emily and Mindy spend many lunches and coffee breaks.

9. 'Big Little Lies'

Star-studded series Big Little Lies is set in Monterey, a coastal city in California. Punctuated by moody beaches and an alluring, high-class fisherman aesthetic, it's unsurprising that some viewers have flocked to the twisty drama's filming locations. For starters, fans of the series can't resist driving over Big Sur's Bixby Creek Bridge, just like the characters do in the opening credits of Big Little Lies.

From Lovers Point Park to Monterey Bay Aquarium and Fisherman's Wharf, so many of the city's landmarks provide the backdrop for the show's most important scenes. Meanwhile, stars like Nicole Kidman were apparently anamored with nearby restaurants like Passionfish, Paluca Trattoria, and Happy Girl Kitchen Co., via Town & Country. Bonus: it's actually possible to stay in the beach house where Madeline Mackenzie (Reese Witherspoon) and her family live, but it's in Malibu, not Monterey.

10. 'Bridgerton'

Netflix's Regency era Shondaland drama has taken the world by storm. Based on the book series by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton follows members of the noble Bridgerton family as they attempt to find spouses, taking place in an alternate universe in which racial equality has been established. Filmed in some of the United Kingdom's most wonderful locations—like Osterley Park and House in London and Basildon Park in Berkshire—Bridgerton is the ideal TV series to build a vacation around.

The Bridgertons's Mayfair home is actually Ranger's House in Greenwich Park, an English Heritage property fans can visit, housing a private art collection. Meanwhile, King Henry VIII's former home, Hampton Court Palace, served as the exterior of Queen Charlotte's humble abode, while Lancaster House in Westminster provided the interior.

Upon its release in 1998, HBO's Sex and the City broke so many boundaries. Unlike any other show before it, Sex and the City—based on the book of the same name by Candace Bushnell—explored the lives of four sexually empowered women as they navigated the dating world in New York. As a result, some of the show's main cast were required to partake in nudity, which was a little terrifying at times, according to Charlotte York herself, Kristin Davis.

On a new episode of her podcast—"Are You a Charlotte?"—Davis discussed the ways in which women are perceived in the world and on TV with clinical psychologist Dr. Hillary Goldsher. "Look at how people present themselves now," Davis said (via Entertainment Weekly). "It's totally normal to have almost everyone on a red carpet in a sheer dress where, potentially, their nipples are showing."

However, when the show first started airing in the late '90s, tasteful public nudity was much less common, as Davis explained, "Like, this never would have happened back in the olden days. We were scared about showing our nipples on the show. We were like, 'Oh my God. They want us to show our nipples.'" She continued, "We were so worried about it. Right? Like, would we be shunned? Would we be, you know, cast out...by the film world or whatever, which is kind of insane to think about."

Davis is set to return for the third season of Sex and the City spin-off, And Just Like That..., alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon later this year. While Davis's performance as Charlotte York is integral to the franchise, the early days of Sex and the City were a little fraught for the actress. On a previous episode of her podcast, Davis recalled receiving an incredibly low financial offer to reprise her role as Charlotte York on the first season of the HBO mega-hit.

While filming the show's pilot, Davis was urged to sign a new contract, as she explained, "I take the paperwork and I look at it and it seems to be a new contract, but it's only two pages long, and I'm like, 'What is this?' And it says, 'You will be a recurring character and you will be paid $5,000.'" The Holiday in the Wild star continued, "I know that the pilot's costing a lot and that they're stressed at HBO about it...I think the pilot cost like $2.5 million roughly, which at the time was a lot because no-one really filmed in Manhattan."

Luckily, Davis's lawyer told her not to sign anything. "I was scared," she explained on the podcast. "But it was also very clear from the book and from the script and from the pilot that Charlotte's point of view was a different point of view than the other girls."

Kristin Davis recently launched her podcast, “Are You a Charlotte?” and she's already sharing secrets from the early days of Sex and the City. Davis portrayed Charlotte York on the original HBO series, in two movies, and in the recent spin-off, And Just Like That. But according to Davis, the Sex and the City pilot wasn't all smooth sailing.

"Are You a Charlotte?" launched on January 13, and Davis shared in the first episode (via Us Weekly), "I was never a fan of the pilot...didn't seem polished" She continued, "It didn't seem smooth. It seemed kind of choppy and hectic." Luckily, the chaotic nature of the pilot episode wasn't indicative of how the rest of the season would turn out. "But I also feel my personal theory on pilots in general is that if they're too good—if the pilot is too formed—the show might not be good."

However, while working on the pilot, Davis got a shock when a producer gave her a new contract, which featured a low offer. The producer apparently requested that the actress signed the contract right away, but the Holiday in the Wild star was cautious. Davis continued, "I take the paperwork and I look at it and it seems to be a new contract, but it's only two pages long, and I'm like, 'What is this?' And it says, 'You will be a recurring character and you will be paid $5,000.'"

Davis was suspicious about the so-called "new contract," so she immediately called her lawyer who told her not to sign anything. As the show's creator, Darren Star, hadn't informed Davis about a new contract, she decided it was best to ignore it. But it was also very clear from the book and from the script and from the pilot that Charlotte's point of view was a different point of view than the other girls."

Sex and the City fans are sure to agree that the franchise wouldn't be the same without Davis's portrayal of Charlotte York, and she's most definitely worth the money.

In 2021, Sex and the City fans were delighted to be back sipping Cosmopolitans, traipsing across N.Y.C., and experiencing the highs and lows of love once again with Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte Yorke, and Miranda Hobbes when Max launched the official companion series And Just Like That... The show created by Michael Patrick King, who helmed the franchise's two movies, reunited the iconic metropolitan gal pals (sans Samantha) as they navigated life in their 50s, with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon reprising their roles.

While the spinoff has its (many) quirks, audiences were so charmed to be back with the iconic TV characters that AJLT returned for a second season, which continued to see Carrie open herself up to love following the death of her husband, Mr. Big, a.k.a. John Preston (Chris Noth). Fate led her back to her ex-fiancé Aidan Shaw (John Corbett)—and the debates that have ensued for decades over who Carrie belongs with resumed.

It's since been confirmed that the Carrie-Aidan-will-they-won't-they is set to continue, as AJLT was picked up for season 3 once season 2 wrapped up in August 2023. Before fans can be back gabbing over lunch with their favorite New Yorkers, we're breaking down everything we know about AJLT season 3.

When will 'And Just Like That' season 3 be released?

We'll be strolling the streets of Manhattan with Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and co. again starting on Thursday, May 29. Max announced the premiere date in mid-April when it shared the official poster. In a press release, the streamer confirmed that episodes will air weekly on Thursdays until the finale on August 14.

The show was filmed throughout spring 2024, with photos of Parker on set and in character as Carrie—wearing everything from a contemporary take on her iconic tutu look to oversized hats and Dr. Scholl's sandals—surfacing online. Filming ran throughout the summer and into the fall, and Parker confirmed they were done shooting on October 31, 2024, with a post on Instagram. The star fittingly shared a photo of herself outside Carrie's brownstone, writing in the caption, "And so, as one season ends, another begins. #AndJustLikeThat Season 3 has officially wrapped production back where it all started. See you in 2025, lovers."

Who will return in 'And Just Like That' Season 3?

The beloved besties who originated in Sex and the City—Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda—and the core of the show will, of course, be back. The new additions to their circle of friends will also be back: Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) and Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury).

Along with the gal pals, many of their families and longtime, close friends will appear, including Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone), Charlotte's husband Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), and their children Lily (Cathy Ang) and Rock (Alexa Swinton), and Lisa's husband Herbert Wexley (Christopher Jackson). While Miranda and Steve (David Eigenberg) are no longer together, he'll still appear, given how much her relationship with her son Brady (Niall Cunningham) has become a focus of the show.

It's also been reported that several season 2 guest stars have been upped to series regulars: Sebastiano Pigazzi, who plays Anthony's love interest Giuseppe, and Dolly Wells, Miranda's coworker Joy. Rosemarie DeWitt, who briefly appeared as Aidan's ex-wife in season 2, will also return.

Aidan fans can also rest easy: John Corbett will return, which was teased when he was spotted on set. Season 2 saw the former flame give their relationship a go again and ended with them committing to trying long distance, as Aidan revealed that he needed to return to Virginia to be with his son.

There are a few names that definitely won't be back. In February 2024, months before the show moved into production in early May, Variety reported that Sara Ramírez, who played Miranda's romantic interest and nonbinary comedian Che Diaz, wouldn't be returning. It hasn't been announced why exactly Che—the subject of much criticism in online chatter surrounding the show—will no longer be a part of AJLT. However, sources told Variety that the character "had reached a natural conclusion since their relationship with Miranda had ended."

Nya Wallace, Miranda's professor-turned-friend and another AJLT-originated character, won't be featured in season 3 either. Karen Pittman, who played the fan-favorite new addition, was confirmed by Deadline as unable to return due to scheduling conflicts in March 2024.

Have any new cast members joined the 'And Just Like That' season 3 cast?

A few special guests will join season 3. In early May, comedy icon and TV personality Rosie O'Donnell announced on Instagram that she had joined the cast as a character named Mary. She posted a photo of the teleplay for the first episode of the season, titled "Outlook Good," and captioned the post, "here comes mary #andjustlikethat @hbo."

Months later, King confirmed additional, big-name new cast members to Entertainment Weekly in a January 2025 interview. The showrunner revealed Broadway legend Patti Lupone will play an undisclosed character and comedian Kristen Schaal (known for roles on sitcoms like Bob's Burgers, The Last Man on Earth, and What We Do in the Shadows) will also appear.

Several other new additions have been announced. In June 2024, Variety reported Logan Marshall-Green, Mehcad Brooks, and Jonathan Cake are all set to play recurring guest stars, but details about their roles remain unknown.

What will 'And Just Like That' season 3 be about?

Going into season 3, there are certainly stories to continue for some characters like Carrie, and new avenues to explore for others.

One of season 3's central plotlines will certainly revolve around Carrie and Aidan's rekindling. While the couple (who was once engaged) got back together last season now that Aidan's divorced, he admitted that he needed five years to fully commit because he felt compelled to return to Virginia to raise his children. Meaning, they'll now have to tackle long distance.

While speaking with Variety following the season 2 finale, creator/showrunner Michael Patrick King spoke about the status of Carrie and Aidan going into season 3. He said, "It gives us more story. It gives us an open end. It gives us a complicated problem. It gives us space. It gives Carrie a big thing to think about, you know what I mean?"

He added, "What it gives us is a problem that we have to figure out: how Carrie Bradshaw finds her way through this to love."

Before Aidan told Carrie he needed to return to Virginia, she had promised to move out of her home of many decades on the Upper East Side for him since he felt he could never reenter the space, given their history there. While he did set foot in the space to tell her his realization about needing to go back to Virgina and Carrie's since decided to hold onto the space, her big gesture seems as if she doesn't want to ruin their partnership this time. Distance of course could change that.

In fact, it seems very possible that a bit of rockiness is on the horizon for the love birds. When Corbett was spotted filming AJLT season 3 in May, fans captured footage that they shared on social media of Aidan yelling outside of Carrie's brownstone. In the brief clip, he yells up to her window before picking up what looks like a travel duffle bag and storming up the stairs. For longtime fans of the franchise, it's giving déjà vu.

Miranda, meanwhile, is single again, after pursuing a divorce with Steve and calling things off for good with Che. The show has been committed to exploring her coming-out story, so perhaps she'll be open to meeting new people while co-parenting Brady with Steve.

Charlotte is also back to work for the first time in years, Seema is in a new relationship with Marvel filmmaker Ravi (Armin Amiri), and Lisa recently reached a new career high with her documentary filmmaker and is dealing with the fallout of a miscarriage.

Is there a trailer for 'And Just Like That...' season 3?

You bet! When Max revealed the season 3 premiere date, it also dropped the official trailer. The uplifting clip teases the gal pals as they revel in summertime, including summer flings. "There’s nothing like summer in New York City. With its hot days and even hotter nights, something new and unexpected always awaits," Carrie's voiceover says as she's writing from a patio outside of her new apartment. As for what the new and unexpected might be? It looks like just about everybody has a new crush—from Lisa and Miranda having eyes for coworkers to Charlotte's daughter's teen romance to Carrie flirting with a neighbor, despite still dating Aidan long distance. Meanwhile, it looks like Carrie is attempting to write fiction for the first time (perhaps the next great romance novel or romantasy read?). We can't wait!

Will Samantha ever get her own 'Sex and the City' spinoff?

If fans didn't miss Kim Cattrall's Samantha enough already, her cameo in the season 2 finale of AJLT was even more of a reminder of how much we love her—and how no one will ever replace her. After the series explained Samantha's absence because she and Carrie had a falling out and she moved to London, the two reconciled following the unexpected death of Mr. Big by exchanging text messages and, at the end of season 2, she appeared in an on-screen scene. Samantha returned ever so briefly as she called Carrie from a cab to send her well wishes after her flight was canceled so she could no longer make it to the send-off dinner that she was hosting before moving out of her Upper East Side home of many decades. She spoke in a British accent—a la Annabelle Bronstein, her alter ego from the original series—and made fans everywhere laugh and cry.

While a minute-long scene was enough to make fans clamor for more, it doesn't seem like we'll see additional Samantha scenes. While speaking to Variety following the season 2 finale, King said of her cameo, "I really thought it was a little treat, and I would never build any expectations on more."

Fans have also been curious whether Samantha could have her own show. We'd certainly love to witness Sam Jones' sexcapades and fabulous lifestyle across the pond, but Cattrall has been adamant for nearly a decade about how she no longer wants to play the outspoken publicist. For now, we'll have to take any witty text exchange between Carrie and Samantha on AJLT that we can get.

It's about to get that much easier to watch one of the most iconic television shows in history.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the beloved and original Sex and the City television series has landed a premiere date on Netflix, expanding viewers' ability to stream the hit late-90s and early aughts classic.

Starting April 1, 2023, all six seasons of the hit show—starring Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall—will be available on the streaming platform. Previously, Sex and the City fans could only stream the OG show on MAX, formerly known as HBO Max.

Last year, Warner Bros. Discovery—HBO's parent company—made a content agreement with Netflix, The Hollywood Reporter previously reported. The agreement included a licensing deal for several HBO series, including Band of Brothers, The Pacific, andSix Feet Under.

Fans of the original series have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on Netflix acquiring the rights to stream the show.

"I am not ready for Gen Z to interact with this show," someone tweeted.

"How young do you think gen z is??," someone responded. "I grew up watching this show with my aunts man."

"Me watching Sex and The City on both MAX and Netflix," another posted, along with a gif.

Last year, HBO chief Casey Bloys discussed the strategy behind the decision to license HBO content to a rival streaming service.

“We have to be protective of the shows that we have and are successful,” he said at the time, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. “But, you know, I’ve worked in television long enough that syndication used to be, that was the pot of gold. That was the brass ring that meant that your show was gonna go on and have a life after its initial run and live for decades."

Bloys went on to add that as a result, "the idea of selling a show outside of your ecosystem wasn’t an unusual idea."

"Obviously, streaming and companies kind of reorienting themselves has impacted that," he continued. "But I think the way that we’re doing it somewhat cautiously, doing it co-exclusively, we’re never giving anybody an exclusive right to a show."

To HBO Chief Bloys' point, all 94 episodes of the original hit show—in addition the two Sex and the City films and the show’s much-awaited and hit sequel And Just Like That—will still be available to stream on Max.

Only the original 1998 television series will be available on Netflix.

Historically, as The Hollywood Reporter reports, HBO has declined to license its original shows to anyone other than a sibling company. For example, the OG Sex and the City was sold in syndication to TBS and other basic cable networks.

HBO also licensed The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, and The Wire—among other series—to Amazon, prior to HBO launching its own streaming service.

Academy Award-winner Bradley Cooper wasn't always calm, cool, and collected prior to filming... especially at the start of his career.

While speaking at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Thursday, Feb. 8, Cooper reminisced about his brief appearance on the hit HBO show Sex and the City in 1999, in which he played one of Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) momentary flings.

In the episode, Cooper's character drives a sports car. Apparently, in order to land the role, Cooper lied about being able to drive the manual vehicle, Deadline reports.

“I remember when I got the call to do it I was terrified. ‘What do you mean I’m actually going to have to do it?’" he said. "I couldn’t drive a stick shift, so they sent me to Models Driving School and I was just terrified."

Cooper went on to say that he "still messed it up, so they had somebody else drive the car."

"I just had to… pretend that we stopped," he added.

During this year's Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Cooper was presented with the Outstanding Performer of the Year Award for his work on Maestro.

In addition to the award, his role as American composer Leonard Bernstein has landed Cooper three 2024 Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay.

His on-stage comments were not the first time that Cooper discussed his anxiety-ridden time on the set of Sex and the City. In a 2012 interview with Backstage, the Hangover actor said his time alongside the HBO star Sarah Jessica Parker was a logistical "nightmare."

“I thought it went well when I learned on a Volkswagen, but then I was driving a 1962 Porsche convertible where the clutch was as if I was driving a bus,” Cooper told the publication at the time. “And I had Sarah Jessica Parker in the passenger seat. They very quickly took me out and put in a stand-in until we arrived.”

In another interview with Metro via Irish Central, Cooper said he was afraid he was going to "bang Sarah Jessica Parker’s head against the dashboard."

"That was all I was thinking about," he said at the time.

In the end, his many Oscar wins and nominations prove it all worked out for the best.

It’s the tutu you know and love: the iconic pink piece Carrie Bradshaw wears as the opening credits roll on every episode of Sex and the City. The tiered tutu that Sarah Jessica Parker wore as Carrie cost a miniscule $5 in 1997, bought, of course, before it had fame and fanfare surrounding it. The skirt went up for auction recently—and sold for more than 10,000 times its original price.

Sex and the City stylist and costume designer Patricia Field found the tutu—as well as four others identical to it—in a $5 bin while shopping in New York City’s Garment District 27 years ago. Field liked it for the show’s opening credits, because it wasn’t tied to a specific year, like the 1998 Marc Jacobs runway dress that almost made the cut.

“I showed it to Sarah Jessica, and she loved it,” Field said on the skirt’s certificate of authenticity. “She felt the idea, even though some people on the show didn’t get it right away. We ended up shooting three outfit options for the opening, but this was by far the most original concept.”

Julien’s Auctions—which sold the piece—estimated it would sell for between $8,000 to $12,000, but they majorly lowballed its worth to Sex and the City aficionados. The tulle skirt sold after 24 bids for an eye-popping $52,000, a price 10,400 times greater than its original $5 cost. 

Field wrote in her 2023 memoir, Pat in the City, that the tutu encapsulated what was special about the hit HBO show. “The tutu-style skirt was whimsical, adventurous, and unexpected—kind of like this show,” she wrote. She also recalled telling the show’s creator Darren Star “If this show’s a hit, the opening will be memorable and stay fresh.”

If you’ll remember, Field bought five tutus in the $5 bin, done so because (as any Sex and the City viewer knows) Carrie gets splashed by a bus in the credits, and they wanted to have more than one tutu on hand. Parker revealed in February 2022 that she still has one of them. “A lot of people claim they have the tutu,” she said. “I think Pat [Field] has one, Michael Patrick [King, who directed and wrote many of the show’s episodes] has one. We just used one…Where is it, who’s got it? I’ve got it.”

Well, now, someone paid $52,000 to join this exclusive tutu-owning club.

By the way, the tutu wasn’t the only article of clothing from the show sold at auction recently. Carrie’s John Galliano for Christian Dior newsprint silk chiffon strapless gown (which she wears in season three’s episode called “Natasha”) also went up for auction, ultimately selling for $11,430.

Aubrey Plaza not only knows how to tell a joke, but also how to take one.

The White Lotus actress wore a gold Loewe gown to the annual Emmy awards, complete with a giant needle threaded through the dress' square-cut top.

The dress quickly took the internet by storm, and potentially not how a celebrity might hope.

Fans were leaping to make memes and jokes about the dress, such as a comment on her Instagram post, "When you got the Emmys at 7, but you're getting a wisdom tooth pulled at 8."

One user wrote, "When ur kindergarten teacher sends u home with a permission slip to sign."

Another said, "I was worried you weren’t gonna post-it."

But Plaza took the jokes with good grace and even included one of the memes on her photo carousel of the Emmys. For the final photo, she included a Sex and the City-related meme of her dress.

For those unfamiliar with the wide world of Sex and the City, this is a reference to season six, episode seven of Sex and the City, titled “The Post-It Always Sticks Twice." In the now classic episode, Carrie Bradshaw's boyfriend Jack Berger dumps her via a yellow Post-It that reads, simply, "I'm sorry, I can't. Don't hate me."

This ended up being one of the most memorable episodes of the series, as, naturally, Carrie does not take this news well.

There's no doubt that Plaza must be a fellow Sex and the City fan to recognize the importance of this Post-It, and honestly, I think they should print it on the dress itself and do a re-wear at some point.

Only further increasing her coolness factor, this isn't the only meme Plaza shared of her now-viral dress. She shared another of her posing with her Spin Me Round costar Debby Ryan, as well as one that simply reads, "Don't forget to change your air filter." (Thanks for the reminder, by the way!)

One meme that wasn't shared by the actress (but is definitely worth seeing) is by Kraft Singles, which replaces the dress' square bodice with a slice of cheese.

Author and journalist Candace Bushnell has had success in television in the past—a column she once wrote for The New York Observer called Sex and the City was made into a show on HBO you may have heard of—but now Bushnell is moving into a new lane: an unscripted dating show.

Variety reports that the unscripted dating show is in development and will be based off of Sex and the City, which was first a column and then a book comprised of the columns, which ran from 1994 to 1996. The HBO series with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis ran from 1998 to 2004, and Bushnell is the real-life Carrie Bradshaw, played by Parker. Bushnell invented the Carrie character as her alter ego while writing the column. 

The new dating show is in development at Bunim/Murray, Variety reports, the same production company behind reality shows like The Real World, Road Rules, Project Runway, and Keeping Up with the Kardashians. It will be titled Is There Still Sex in the City?, which is also the title of Bushnell’s 2019 book about her experience of dating post-divorce in her fifties. (Bushnell was married from 2002 to 2012 to Charles Askegard, a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet who was 10 years her junior.)

Per Variety, “the program will follow four friends in their fifties as they navigate the immersive dating experience in a ‘love do-over,’ where they trade their busy city lives for a ‘dating utopia.’” The logline of the show reads “They’ll live together in a cozy country chateau where they’ll have their pick of a different group of men in each episode. They’ll try the boy toys, sample a senior age player, be romanced by the rich guys, and even get to flirt with their fantasy man. But in the end, who will really steal their hearts, and will our ladies be able to bring the sex back to the city?”

Bunim/Murray will begin shopping the series out to potential buyers next month.

“Fifty-something women (and above) are the hottest new dating demographic, and I should know, I am one of them,” Bushnell said. “Over the decades, I’ve dated men of all ages, and I’m so excited to be working on a show that combines my passion for relationships with the chance to help women, like me, navigate a love do-over.”

In addition to Sex and the City, Bushnell has written eight other books, most of them fiction. Two of them, Lipstick Jungle and The Carrie Diaries, became network TV series on NBC and The CW, respectively. In addition to the forthcoming dating show, Bushnell will take her one-woman show “True Tales of Sex, Success, and Sex and the City” to England, Italy, and Canada in 2024.

Warning: spoilers for the season 2 finale of And Just Like That... ahead. It finally happened, and it was glorious. Samantha Jones made her highly-anticipated return in Thursday's finale of the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That..., with Kim Cattrall making her on-screen return to the franchise. When the news of Samantha's comeback went viral last May, I wondered if this (as well as the reunion of Carrie and Aidan) would finally bring back the essential spark of the original series, which still serves as required viewing for TV fanatics and young women who subject themselves to heterosexual dating to this day. Samantha's brief appearance was a 71-second scene of pure nostalgic joy, a standout moment in a show that does its best work when it's not trying to live up to its predecessor.

First, let's break down the big moment. At the start of AJLT, Carrie was estranged from Samantha, in a hazily-defined development that was held together by Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker's real-life feud. They began to reconcile at the end of season 1, and by the season 2 finale, they're close enough for the PR maven to attempt to make it back to NYC for Carrie's "Last Supper" goodbye party for her classic brownstone apartment. However, Samantha's flight from Heathrow was canceled for being understaffed, so she called Carrie to send her well wishes for her new start in her new home however and bid adieu to the apartment via speakerphone. As we see a Fendi-clad Samantha sitting in the backseat of a car, she says, "Thank you for everything you f------ fabulous, fabulous flat" in a new, slightly-British accent. 

The fabulous, highly-anticipated, and likely highly-paid appearance is brief, to-the-point, and effective. Details of the filming conditions have been out there for months, so we knew that Cattrall wouldn't appear on-camera alongside Parker, Cynthia Nixon, or Kristin Davis. Thanks in large part to prior knowledge around the conditions of the cameo, the sudden drop-in had the satisfying feeling of expectations being met, and it felt more natural at the end of a season that barely mentioned Samantha at all. Plus, it fit smoothly in the episode's arc, as it would be impossible to say goodbye to Carrie Bradshaw's iconic apartment and former life without also honoring Samantha's history with both. And, arguably, the scene can also function as Samantha's goodbye to a franchise that is truly continuing on without her.

And Just Like That... has walked the same odd tightrope as every IP reboot/nostalgia grab that has come out in recent years, as Hollywood has mined the past while seeking an instantly loyal fandom (and their open pockets) for new projects. A reboot has to honor the history of the original series, often updating its most beloved themes or character for the 2020s, while also forming an original identity. The new show needs a reason to exist that surpasses the cognitive dissonance that a viewer feels when characters that played a pivotal part in their youth are brought back from the dead and shoved into new situations. For all its awkwardness, AJLT season 1 laid out its argument for why it should exist early on, showing through Big's death that it would explore a new era in its core trio's life, one of grief and aging and evolved identity politics (see the Che of it all and Rock). Now, after two seasons of finding its footing, And Just Like That... has developed beyond Sex and the City.

AJLT season 1 was never going to be smooth sailing, as it made the bold choice to kill off Big in the first episode. (While there's always Twitter, my own barometer for SATC fan reactions is my mother, who was crushed by the twist.) The season covered Carrie's first year as a widow, meaning the franchise's favorite goofy ball of chaos was busy dealing with heavy themes. With Samantha gone and Charlotte being a devoted mother (and the stealth MVP of the show), the sex was left to Miranda, to the demise of her relationship with poor Steve. There were added characters introduced, but Seema, Lisa, and Nya felt too new and too much like each of the core trio was allowed one new, necessarily diverse friend.

With season 2, viewers were more used to the new crew and circumstances, and AJLT had the chance to spread its wings. Carrie could actually date again! Miranda could date again, after she and Che met their natural end. Lisa, Nya, and Seema's storylines continued to be fleshed, with Seema standing out as she represented the fabulous single career woman that was sorely missing among all the married characters. (Her conversation with Carrie about being the only single friend was my favorite scene in the whole season until Samantha showed up). As the season went on, more and more of the show's best moments stemmed from the characters' own growth over the course of AJLT, rather than reaching back into the past to comment on how much everything has changed since the SATC-era. (Remember that whole storyline about Seema's Birkin being stolen, which felt like nothing more than an attempt to hit on two iconic SATC episodes at once? Less of those in season 3 please.)

So what's my answer to questions of whether Cattrall would consider joining season 3, and calls to bring Samantha back permanently? And Just Like That... doesn't need her anymore. Sure, they needed the cameo, that moment where she actually appears on screen to honor the character's legacy. SATC doesn't exist without Samantha, and AJLT doesn't exist without SATC. But And Just Like That... has evolved beyond needing to look back to Sex and the City. For the first two seasons, the new show acknowledged the parts of its legacy that needed to be addressed, checking up on Big, Aidan, and Samantha. From now on, it needs to continue on as its own unique show, continuing to evolve the characters, dynamics, and themes it has created rather than dipping back into the well of SATC. Samantha's short return and loving goodbye was a perfect 71 seconds of nostalgia. Now, let's look towards the future.

On the heels of news that And Just Like That… has been renewed for a third season, Selena Gomez is apparently in the Sex and the City spirit like the rest of us, using an audio clip from the iconic show in a video to tease her music. The audio was of the legendary character of Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall, who hasn’t been seen in AJLT—yet (but give her until tomorrow’s episode, we hear).

The clip uses audio from SATC’s first season, specifically the episode “Three’s a Crowd.” Samantha “is heard chatting on the phone to an apparently overly eager suitor,” People reports. “Gomez mimed answering the phone as Samantha, replicating the character’s familiar sing-song voice, ‘Hellooo?’”

“It’s over, I told my wife [about us]!” a male voice responded, to which Gomez as Samantha dismissed him with “Who is this?” before shrugging her shoulders and hanging up. Gomez captioned the post “Single Soon this Friday!”

Cattrall caught wind of the post and, in a mutual sign of respect between the two women, wrote on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) “I approve this message,” alongside a lipstick emoji. Cattrall also reposted the clip.

If you can’t specifically remember what was happening in the “Three’s a Crowd” episode, Samantha becomes involved with a married man; later in the episode, he calls her and says he is willing to dump his wife to be with her, but, Samantha being Samantha, isn’t particularly interested.

“Single Soon” is slated to be on Gomez’s next album, tentatively titled SG3. This single will mark her first new music since 2021. “Y’all have been asking for new music for a while,” Gomez wrote on social media. “Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer. SINGLE SOON. August 25th.”

This SATC audio sampling isn’t the only creative way Gomez has been promoting her new track, as Marie Claire detailed recently. Consider us intrigued all the way around.

Last year, Carrie Bradshaw returned to the small screen with the December 2021 premiere of And Just Like That..., Max's reboot of the beloved franchise Sex and the City. Fans who grew up with Carrie, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York (though Samantha Jones was notably missing) welcomed the series with open arms, but some of the developments in its characters' lives have been controversial at best. From Big's death from a heart attack in the series premiere to the nasty breakup between Miranda and Steve—not to mention the Che Diaz of it all—longtime viewers have watched as the original series' central dynamics have been tested or transformed forever. 

In the second season of And Just Like That, however, two of the original show's most iconic characters—Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha, and John Corbett, who played Aiden Shaw—finally make their return. The first to show up: Aidan, Carrie's ex-fiancé and half of the eternal Aidan vs. Big debate.

Carrie reaches out to Aidan over email.

Rather than another surprise encounter, Aidan re-enters Carrie's after he comes up during a dinnertime conversation about exes. Carrie has kept tabs on him; apparently he now lives in Virginia, got divorced from his wife five years ago, and sold his furniture company to West Elm. Carrie and Aidan haven't talked in forever, but she starts thinking about reaching out, even drafting a flirty "Hey Stranger?" email at home that night. She doesn't send it, though.

It takes Carrie the rest of the episode to build up the courage and press send, an eventful episode that includes her trekking through a blizzard to give a reading at WidowCon (yes, the event is just what it sounds like). But by the end, she's back in front of her computer. "And just like that, I realized some relationships are meant to stay in the past — and some aren't," she says via voiceover, as she sends out the digital note.

The exes have a reunion dinner on Valentine's Day.

Episode 7 takes its time getting to Aidan, as Carrie reveals early on that the pair have set a dinner date for Valentine's Day—he'll be in town for a meeting—and spends the rest of the episode worrying how the night will go. Of course, the course of love never runs smoothly on SATC, and Carrie's left waiting for thirty minutes at the restaurant. Carrie fears that she's been stood up, but it turns out that she was waiting at the wrong restaurant, next door to the one they chose (which, you have to admit, those two buildings were designed to be confusing). She goes outside, turns around, and Aidan is there, wearing a very tight belted leather coat. 

(An aside: The coat shouldn't matter, but for those of us who are used to John Corbett's role in the To All the Boys franchise and XO, Kitty, it's jarring to realize that he dressed more like Aidan as a completely different character than in his first actual appearance as Aidan in 13 years. You don't believe me? See said coat below and then we'll talk.)

Once they're seated inside the right restaurant—and Aidan has removed the jacket to reveal a cozy knit button-down—, he shares his condolences about John (Big, if the use of his real name is still confusing to anyone else). He's also read her book, but Carrie assures him that time has helped the healing. Both of them are single, neither meant to stand the other up, and it's a lovely little moment. She invites him back to hers, and he's astounded by the time-travel head trip of her living in the same apartment. That's also the place where their engagement ended, and he understandably can't go back in there and feel the ghost of that heartbreak.

"At the restaurant, I thought how great… We're back where we started," he admits. “But this is where we ended, with the f***ing wall I couldn't break through, the floors… I redid. That's all bad, and it's all in there" He then adds, "I'm never going in there again."

It seems then like Aidan and Carrie 2.0 (or technically 3.0?) won't actually happen, as Carrie says she understands and he begins to walk away. But then, Aidan turns around, and points out that NYC is a city of hotels. They finally kiss, with voiceover-Carrie saying, "And just like that, Aidan and I were back on the same page."

What's next for Aidan and Carrie?

After that reunion right out of Carrie-Aidan shippers' dreams, the teaser for episode 8 shows that the pair are fully back on. All we see in the short clip are a beat of them kissing in bed and another of Aidan laughing with Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte at a group dinner, so it seems like we'll at least get a few episodes of couple fun times before the season ends. (Season 2 will be eleven episodes total, so we have four to go.) There's also a moment of Miranda wondering whether Carrie and Aidan should take it slow, like any reasonable friend would suggest, but Carrie appears to be all in. We'll see whether the couple could actually end up together, at the end of so much drama, over the rest of the season.

Meet the Experts

Kim Cattrall has been notably absent from TV screens this year. The actress famously didn’t join her Sex and the City co-stars for the And Just Like That… reboot, and television just hasn’t been quite as interesting as a result.

There are many theories as to why Cattrall didn’t return to the SATC franchise (a scheduling conflict? a feud with Sarah Jessica Parker?), but none are quite as interesting as the one currently circulating among Netflix fans. The theory: Kim will be reprising her role of Samantha Jones for Season 3 of Emily in Paris.

The idea was introduced by Vulture's TV Critic Jen Chaney on Twitter: “Current theory: Samantha has supposedly moved overseas, hence her lack of presence in the new SATC TV Series,” she wrote. “Then she shows up by total surprise in a crossover episode of EMILY IN PARS. I would watch Samantha try to tolerate Emily, 100 percent.”

If your first reaction is “huh?” you’re not alone. At first glance, Cattrall has absolutely nothing to do with the Lily Collins vehicle. But once you consider that Emily in Paris was created by Darren Star (who also created Sex and the City) and has costumes designed by Patricia Field (who also designed costumes for Sex and the City), the leap of logic doesn’t seem quite so far-fetched.

The proposed crossover makes sense on a narrative level, as well. Samantha Jones is a public relations executive, while Emily Cooper is a marketing executive. Perhaps their paths could cross on a career level?

What’s more, the writers of And Just Like That… explained Samantha’s absence by having her move to London. The recent finale of Emily in Paris showed Emily considering another move—potentially to join her love interest in London. Perhaps they run into each other while walking down Carnaby Street?

Other fans are theorizing that Samantha will be the one to make the move, relocating to Paris to become Emily’s new boss. Whatever the case, everyone is dying for Samantha to give Emily a much-needed dose of reality—in her typical no-nonsense, tough-love fashion, of course.

Cattrall has not responded to these rumors, although she did share a photo with Patricia Field on Instagram back in September. That’s more than enough to fuel our theories for another few months.

Warning: Spoilers for episode 3 of And Just Like That ahead. 

In the original Sex and the City, neither Carrie nor audiences had very much sympathy for Natasha, played by Bridget Moynahan. But not unlike Meredith Blake from The Parent Trap, Amy March from Little Women, or even Cruella De Vil, audiences have begun to reconsider how Natasha was characterized and perceived when she first appeared on the show. What made her character such a villain, anyway? Was Natasha really terrible? Or did we just think she and her cohort were terrible because they worked hard to embody perfect femininity—which is still perceived as being untrustworthy—and because they were set up as oppositional to a lovably flawed heroine? Probably the latter.

When she first appeared in season 2 of the original hit HBO series, Natasha was the offensively beige, elegant 25-year-old model Mr. Big married after spending years toying with Carrie and refusing to commit. Who didn’t feel Carrie’s catharsis when she declared, “The woman’s an idiot!”—because of a grammatical error Natasha made on a thank you note? It seemed like the only times Natasha was allowed to slip from Stepford-esque idyll to actual human were in moments of humiliation, like tripping down the stairs and chipping a tooth in front of the woman her husband cheated on her with (that would be Carrie). 

Natasha was set up as a foil to Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie, but if you look just, like, half an inch deeper, you may notice they’re more alike than not. They are both beautiful, thin, well-dressed, well-heeled, occasionally clumsy white women in love with the same man who was treating them both badly. Which is a point And Just Like That appears to be trying to make with Natasha’s return in the third episode of the rebooted series. Discovering that Mr. Big has bequeathed his ex-wife Natasha $1 million in his will (without telling Carrie, the lawyer, or even Natasha ahead of time), Carrie slips immediately back into old patterns: obsessing over what Big was and was not telling her about her former romantic rival. 

So, when does Natasha get to speak for herself? Well, now, actually. 

Moynahan counts herself as a fan of Sex and the City as well as being a part of its legacy, and she takes no issue with fans then or now who vilified her character on behalf of their fave, Carrie. Here, the actress tells Marie Claire how she doesn’t pay attention to comments on the internet and is unfazed by bad-faith critique. Mostly, Moynahan is just happy to be here, and happy to finally bring Carrie and Natasha’s relationship full circle. 

Marie Claire: How did you get involved with the reboot and how did it feel reprising your role?

Bridget Moynahan: There's a scene in this episode where Natasha is up in her office and she's on the phone and she just looks down and she sees Carrie and her girlfriends down there, looking up at her. As Bridget, watching these girls do their thing, it was so much fun. Because it was Sex and the City back again, from the heels to the outfits to the girls—who are not girls anymore. They're grown mature women with adult responsibilities...[but] in some ways they just have that joyful spirit still. And it was just so much fun for me as an actor and as a fan to be watching that.

[Showrunner] Michael Patrick King had called me— I don't know when he called me, sometime early spring, maybe—and he said, 'Hey, would you consi—' I don't even think he got the word ‘consider’ out of his mouth before I said, ‘Yes.’ They had come out with a couple movies and I hadn't gotten the call and I was like, 'I wonder if they'll bring Natasha back?!' So I was really so thrilled that they did bring her back for this. And it didn't really matter what [MPK] asked me to do. I mean, if he asked me to be in a background scene, I would've done that. But it was a nice little storyline to play with and in some ways more emotional and real than the two characters have ever really been with each other. 

MC: I think a lot of viewers felt like Natasha got the short end of the stick in terms of characterization. Did you ever feel that while filming the original? Had you ever seen any of these comments and did you agree?

BM: Fans had said something to me in person on the street in New York. They would say something, and I'd be like, 'Yeah, but she cheated with my husband!' They didn't really think about it that way. They were just protecting their Carrie...[the fans] are loyal to these characters and it's just wonderful. I think it's a testament to the writing, and the creation of these characters and these actors who brought them to life.

MC: What was your initial reaction to reaction to Big dying?

BM: I just thought, 'Yeah. OK. Great.' This was a natural way for [the writers] to get into things and a reality of women of a certain age, men of a certain age. So it felt like a real possibility and a really beautiful way to jump back into these lives that everybody had fallen in love with in their ‘30s and take a real, but still fun, look at what their lives are like in their ‘50s. …People are literally grieving a character and a relationship and a love that they've all really felt like they've gone on this journey together. 

MC: In this episode we get a little more of Natasha's perspective. How did you feel about the bonding moment she and Carrie had?

BM: I think that one of the sweet moments that the writers had put in there—and I would imagine it's a hard thing to admit for [Natasha]—is, 'He always loved you.' And to be able to give that gift to Carrie of like, 'There's no reason why he should have ever married me.' For Carrie to hear that and for her to accept in that moment when she's so confused and grieving. It's nice in a way for Natasha and Carrie to leave on the same page. Like, ‘Let's not do this anymore.’ 

MC: We also get a glimpse of Natasha's life. Do you have any more ideas of where she is now? Is she married? Is she a single mom? 

BM: I definitely think she's married and she has two kids and a very nice life and moved on. I'm sure it was an unusual thing to get the call about Big leaving something to her in the will—which she's explained she's not going to take. 

MC: Did you feel any certain way about that bathroom scene, which is such a fun, throwback slap-sticky Sex and the City moment? 

BM: I often explain that my first experience with Sex and the City was like having to jump into an ongoing Double Dutch jump rope game. It was a well-oiled, big show, and I was just a new actor getting a chance to be on the show, and just had to jump in and hopefully not mess up. I felt the pressure and I felt nervous. And cut to how many years later, coming on the show, I definitely felt more relaxed and more grounded, but still super excited to be there. 

When I read the script, and I saw that scene in the coffee shop and in the restroom, I was like, 'Okay, I guess I'm doing this!'…I've been doing Blue Bloods for 12 years. They're not shooting a scene of me in the toilet! So it was definitely out of my comfort zone from what I've been doing, but so exciting to be able to do something more playful and comedic. It's such a joy to be able to watch and work with Sarah Jessica Parker, who is such a pro and so talented, and just watching her make her adjustments and her natural talent come through, it's so wonderful. 

MC: Do you hope that through this episode people might take away a slightly more nuanced view of Natasha? 

BM: I think people are just going to  have fun watching the episodes…and it's all to have fun and enjoy it. I think it's really refreshing for [the show creators] to take on this in the way they have—not trying to go back and create something that they've already done—but we're going to deal with everything that's going on now and we're gonna embrace it all…Whether it's single motherhood or questioning marriage or death or age or whatever it is. They take it on and they have fun with it. 

MC: I feel like the Natasha character fits pretty neatly into current cultural conversations of the women we vilify and the women we side with; how we pit women against each other. I wondered if you had any thoughts about that or if you felt like the narratives have evolved?

BM: I think we've evolved in some ways and we haven't in others. There are so many conversations [now] about supporting each other and women breaking glass ceilings—and we have a vice president now who’s a woman—and there are a lot of ways that things have changed and grown. And then you have all the negative things that you find on Instagram or [on] different social media platforms where people are picking apart women's [and] girls' looks and making them feel insecure or not beautiful for who they are. So we haven't grown in those areas. Natasha being in the show, you see that she's moved on. You see that [Carrie and Natasha] come together and have a nice moment together at the end; that kind of releases some of that from the past.

Who among us hasn't dreamt of waking up in Carrie Bradshaw's Upper East Side apartment? Well, now you can—kind of.

As reported by ELLE, Airbnb and Warner Bros. joined forces to recreate the interior of the Sex and the City protagonist's legendary apartment down to the smallest detail, including a walk-in closet filled to the brim with clothes and accessories for guests to play around with.

The apartment, located in Chelsea rather than the original UES, will be available to book starting Nov. 8, and will set you back just $23 a night (if you can snag it, that is, and I have a feeling you won't be the only one trying to get in on this).

With each booking, you'll get a ton of perks, like a special welcome over video chat from Sarah Jessica Parker herself (!!) and a round of cosmopolitans (I'm assuming these are complimentary, but it's hard to tell from the description).

As part of the apartment's Airbnb listing, Parker wrote a special introduction. "It’s been 23 years since I first stepped into Carrie’s shoes, and now, it’s your turn. In celebration of the upcoming release of And Just Like That…, the highly-anticipated new chapter of HBO’s groundbreaking series, Sex and the City, we’re opening the doors to the brownstone where it all began," she wrote.

"Quintessentially Carrie, the closet is the star of this New York City apartment, filled with designer and vintage looks to make you swoon," she added. "If Carrie taught us anything, though, it’s that trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style – so we’ve pulled out all the stops for a fab and friendship-centric trip down Sex and the City’s memory lane."

As for the space itself, it looks seriously impressive, and guests will get to recreate some of the show's most iconic scenes. As well as figuring out which Manolos to try on for a special photo shoot, you can sit at the sex columnist's desk and imagine what it would be like to lead Bradshaw's super glamorous life. Actor Willie Garson, known for his cult role as Stanford Blatch on Sex and the City, as well as Mozzie on White Collar, has died aged just 57.

Garson's son Nathen paid tribute to his dad on Instagram, sharing intimate photos and videos of his life. "I love you so much papa," he wrote. "Rest In Peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much. I’m so proud of you. I will always love you, but I think it’s time for you to go on an adventure of your own. You’ll always be with me. Love you more than you will ever know and I’m glad you can be at peace now. You always were the toughest and funniest and smartest person I’ve known. I’m glad you shared you’re love with me. I’ll never forget it or lose it."

Actress Selma Blair wrote, "He was worth loving. His only everything is knowing you are alright. More than alright. Our children are the ones we give all our love . Our last talk. I wish there was never a last talk with Willie. I will miss him so much."

Garson adopted Nathen, who is now 20, in 2009. "I gave someone a childhood who did not really have a real one," he said in a 2020 interview. "Not only did I get to give him a childhood but guess what? I got to get another one too, which is a great thing because my parents were not child friendly."

Garson's SATC costar Cynthia Nixon paid tribute to him on Twitter, writing, "So deeply, deeply sad we have lost @WillieGarson. We all loved him and adored working with him. He was endlessly funny on-screen and in real life. He was a source of light, friendship and show business lore. He was a consummate professional— always."

SATC author Candace Bushnell wrote, "Rest in Peace #WillieGarson Stanford Blatch is so beloved to me and Willie brought him to life so beautifully. What a gift to us all."

Garson's cause of death has not yet been confirmed, though actor Chad Lowe tweeted, "F - Cancer" when asked about it.

Paying tribute to Garson, Lowe wrote, "He was so talented, so committed to social justice, so loved by so many. But most of all, he was a great, devoted, father. He will be sorely missed."

In a script for Sex and the City reboot ...And Just Like That, leaked in May 2021, Carrie Bradshaw seemed to reveal that husband Mr. Big had cheated on her—perhaps even with several women. But new photos of Sarah Jessica Parker on set for the series show the actress wearing a wedding band, as noted by the Daily Mail. Does this mean that this new infidelity didn't spell the end for TV's most love-hated couple?

In the leaked script, quoted by The Cut, Bradshaw asks her friends, "I was doing well, wasn’t I doing well? Before this?" to which they enthusiastically acquiesce. The protagonist continues, "I mean, I was doing the podcast, I was washing my hair. Yes, I wasn’t eating or sleeping, but at least I felt good about my marriage. Now I’m just one of the wives he was taking care of?"

Of course, Big and Carrie survived a spell of cheating in Sex and the City 2, when Parker's character kissed her ex Aidan, and Big eventually forgave her. It stands to reason, then, that she might not leave her husband when he cheats back—although extramarital kissing probably isn't totally comparable to the idea that Big has several "wives."

We'll just have to wait to find out what exactly happens between the on-and-off couple. ...And Just Like That, which was announced on Jan. 10, will air on HBO Max, though the release date has yet to be announced. Filming for the show began in July.

The 56-year-old actress has been sharing updates about the new series on Instagram. On Friday, she took to social media to share two new behind-the-scenes pictures from the set of the show—one from the first table read for the new series and another of her posing alongside her Sex and the City co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

"1st Table Read," she captioned the first post, which included a photo of her spot at the table read, complete with her name plate, copy of the script and a mask to comply with ongoing coronavirus pandemic precautions. A press release from HBO Max revealed more details, including that it will be a 10-episode half-hour series and will begin production in New York in "late spring." The original series's executive producer, Michael Patrick King, is also confirmed to return, meaning the revival should retain the flair and feel of the iconic show.

"The series will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s," HBO's release added.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Parker addressed how the revival will deal with COVID, saying that the pandemic would "obviously be part of the storyline, because that’s the city [these characters] live in. And how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all."

And what about Kim Cattrall, a.k.a. Samantha Jones?

On Instagram, Parker commented on the notable absence of Cattrall. "Happy to see you back but will miss Kim/Samantha," one commenter penned, to which Parker responded, "We will too. We loved her so. X."

And replying to another commenter who suggested Cattrall wasn't returning because of a rumored feud between the actresses, Parker wrote, "No. I don't dislike [Kim]. I've never said that. Never would. Samantha isn't part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X."

Who's joining the cast of And Just Like That?

Yes! Sara Ramírez is being added to the reboot as a series regular. The Tony-winner, who identifies as nonbinary, has been tapped to play Sex and the City's first openly nonbinary character, Che Diaz. The Hollywood Reporter describes Diaz as a "nonbinary, queer stand-up comedian who hosts a podcast on which Carrie is regularly featured. Che is a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humor and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular."

Michael Patrick King, who worked as the show's executive producer and is involved with the reboot, said in a statement Wednesday that the cast and production team is "beyond thrilled" to have them on board.

“Sara is a one-of-a-kind talent, equally at home with comedy and drama—and we feel excited and inspired to create this new character for the show,” he said per THR.

Casting Ramírez is a clear sign the reboot is taking steps to be more inclusive after the show's original iteration was criticized—even by Kim Cattrall—for its overwhelming lack of diversity, particularly through a 2021 lens.

Ramírez, a Tony-winner, has frequently been a trailblazer on television, playing a bisexual nonbinary character on CBS’ Madam Secretary as well as the bisexual surgeon Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy.

And on May 26, it was announced that Chris Noth will also be involved in the HBO Max reboot, reprising his role as John James Preston—a.k.a. the infamous Mr. Big who Carrie weds in the first Sex and the City film (after many relationship ups-and-downs).

"How could we ever do a new chapter of the Sex and the City story without our Mr. Big?" Patrick King said in a statement obtained by EW.

It's unconfirmed how many episodes Noth will appear in or the status of his character's relationship with Carrie, but considering their storied past, we'd expect trouble in paradise...

Weddings are all about fairy-tale endings and love and compromising on your future in-laws' ridiculously long list of requests (no oysters during cocktail hour?! But I love oysters during cocktail hour?!). Okay, I promise I’ll stop after this, but I feel like we also need to take a moment to appreciate the simple white dress and long veil Monica wore to marry Chandler Bing in season 7.

Maggie’s dress in Runaway Bride was just big and pretty enough to distract wedding goers from noticing that she’s probably wearing sneakers underneath that skirt. Hey, when a girl’s gotta dash, a girl’s gotta dash.

You were probably too distracted by the Portokalos family’s antics to notice Toula’s (Nia Vardalos) wedding dress. The V-neck and the detailing were pure gold.

Say what you want about Disney princesses being bad role models for young viewers, but I one hundred percent endorse Ariel’s wedding dress as role model for wedding dresses. Those animated puff sleeves are E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G.

This 1965 musical classic is great for many reasons, not the least of which is Maria’s (Julie Andrew) classically modest and sophisticated wedding dress.

Jessa from Girls (played by Jemima Kirke) was obviously never going to wear a traditional wedding dress, so instead, she went with this boho minidress for her surprise wedding in season 1.

We love a medieval royal wedding dress. I mean, that texture! That crown! Sure, Buttercup wasn’t too happy about this marriage, but at least she got to wear a great dress for a hot sec? Maybe? It’s fiction, you guys!

If you ever wondered what vampires wear to their weddings (anyone? just me?), it seems like they stick with the traditional suit and a white Carolina Herrera gown, as Bella and Edward demonstrated in Twilight.

Now that we know how vampires dress to get married, let’s look at lab-made monsters, shall we? According to Bride of Frankenstein, lady monsters wear flowing dresses like this one. Noted.

If anyone could pull off a nontraditional blue wedding dress, it’s Blair Waldorf, who ended up getting married to (and then arrested with) Chuck Bass in the sixth season of the Gossip Girl series.

And it’s not just Blair who gets married on the show! Serena, played by Blake Lively (duh), marries Dan Humphrey in the series finale, wearing a strapless metallic gold and white gown—S knows a ~fashion moment~ when she sees one.

While most of us remember Keira Knightley’s role in Love Actually as standing at her front door while her husband’s BFF professes his love to her, the wedding scene is seriously underrated, IMO. The feather detailing on her character’s wedding dress was also just *chef’s kiss*.

Two best friends becoming enemies over wedding drama is a ridiculous premise for a movie, but I’ll concede that these two Vera Wang wedding gowns are pretty chic.

While I have some *major* issues with the guy Margaery Tyrell is marrying here (yikes, girl, don’t do it!), I have no complaints about her pretty wedding dress, complete with a train of roses, which is a sweet tribute to her Highgarden upbringing.

And speaking of GoT couples that are better off apart, Sansa Stark and Tyrion Lannister were forced to wed in the series. While this marriage was also short-lived, Sansa’s gown was v pretty.

A short pink wedding dress with a matching veil? I mean, how could you not love the dress Paige (Rachel McAdams) chose to wed Leo (Channing Tatum) in The Vow?

The love story of physicist Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne) and Jane Wilde (Felicity Jones) has many great moments, including Jane’s understated wedding dress.

Yeah, Liz Lemon’s Princess Leia costume might not be what you think of when you think “best TV wedding dresses of all time,” but it’s, like, kinda bridal. Plus it looks hella comfortable, so....

While Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie’s marriage in The Wolf of Wall Street wasn’t, um, great, at least Margot got to wear this gorge dress at the wedding.

Blake Lively slays in yet another breathtaking wedding dress in The Age of Adaline, this time with a vintage-y twist.

When Cece and Schmidt finally tie the knot on New Girl, Cece wore a pretty gold sari and a red-and-white flower garland, while Schmidt wore a tan suit to match.

I honestly gasp at this pic of Andie MacDowell (who plays Carrie) every single time—that veil, those gloves, the neckline! It’s all so good.

Gwyneth Paltrow nails the straight-out-of-a-Jane-Austen-novel look with this sweet and simple wedding dress.

When Ben and Leslie were in a rush to get married on Parks and Rec, Leslie asked her BFF Ann to finish her half-made wedding dress, asking for “the sensuality of Eleanor Roosevelt combined with the animal magnetism of Leslie Stahl.” What Ann came up with was a skirt made of meaningful bills and images from her career. Very Leslie, no?

I think I speak for everyone when I say have mercyyy. When Aunt Becky (Lori Loughlin) tied the knot to Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) in season 4, she served up some major wedding inspiration. Please note the headpiece.

• In a new interview for the Women's Prize for Fiction podcast, Kim Cattrall reiterated once again that she's done playing her iconic Sex and the City character, Samantha Jones.
• Cattrall said she feels "lucky" to have the choice to walk away from the franchise and she's very "protective" of her ability to choose for herself.

Amid buzz that Sex and the City may be getting a reboot on HBO Max, Kim Cattrall is doubling down on her commitment to leave the show—and her iconic character, Samantha Jones—behind for good.

In a new interview for the Women's Prize for Fiction podcast, Cattrall talked about being "lucky" to have the choice to walk away from Sex and the City for good. She also got candid about the backlash she's faced since publicly declaring she's done with the franchise, which is being eyed as a limited series reboot for HBO Max, according to Deadline. Here are some highlights from Cattrall's interview:

On what drew her to Sex and the City initially—and what it was like to walk away: 

"It was a lot of fun and I loved it and being in new territory is always exciting. I felt like we were. Walking away, even if it's the only thing to do, you always feel, it's a bit of shame, I think. The taste of shame and you have to let go of that. You don't want to become that caged bird."

On the backlash she faced for not wanting to do a third Sex and the City movie: 

"I remember getting a lot of grief on social media for not wanting to do a film. It was astonishing some of the things people wrote to me—'I work in a bank and I don't like this person and I don't like the hours, but I do it. So you just do it!' Give me what I want. I do it. I'm miserable, you be miserable too."

I'm lucky enough to have the choice, not that I haven't worked for it. I have. It's something I feel very lucky to have and I'm very protective of it. I wouldn't be any good doing something that I really didn't want to do."

On what's next for her—and, spoiler, it's still definitely not more Sex and the City: 

"I want to use my platform to tell stories about women my age who have gone through loss. Loss is the biggest headache for my '60s so far, I've lost my father. I've lost my brother."

As a sucker for anything and everything to do with the romantic comedy-verse, Emily in Paris looks like it's going to be right up my alley. The new Netflix rom-com series is set to fill the Sex and the City-size hole in my life, since it's the newest project from the creator of the beloved HBO series, Darren Star, who also made Younger. So you can take a break from worrying about all your favorite TV shows that are on pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and breathe a sigh of relief that the glitzy, gossip-filled Emily in Paris is going to hit Netflix this fall no matter what.

Star, who's created several of your TV favorites like SATC, Younger, Beverly Hills 90210 (the OG and the reboot), Melrose Place, and more, is at the head of this one. Star created, wrote, and executive produced Emily in Paris, so get ready for fashionable characters, drama, and love interests aplenty.

"Sex and the City looked beautiful, but this show is just gorgeous," said Star to Variety. "It's very cinematic. Television is much more like cinema now and filming in Paris was important, so we really made all the shots look big. It's shot more like a film than a TV series."

Emily in Paris follows a 20something woman, played by Lily Collins, who moves from the Midwest to Paris to work at a French marketing company and is tasked with revamping their social media strategy. She'll get all her work done fashionably, of course, because costume designer Patricia Field—who's worked with Star on SATC and on films like The Devil Wears Prada—brought her creative eye for clothes to the series.

Star told Variety that Emily is "not fully embraced by some of the French—she's an American girl who comes to France and doesn't speak any French, she has opinions about how to do things, but finds out 'the American way is the best' doesn't always hold true and she makes a lot of faux pas."

When will it be out on Netflix?

All ten 30-minute episodes are dropping on the streaming giant on October 2. The show was initially supposed to air on the Paramount Network, but Netflix acquired it mid-June.

"MTV Studios and I couldn't hope for a more perfect home for Emily In Paris than Netflix," Starr said in a statement. "With their international reach, we are excited to share Emily with audiences around the world."

We finally got a teaser trailer!

Netflix knew my boredom levels were rising and dropped a teaser trailer practically a month out before the new show is to be released. In the minute clip, we see that Emily has welcomed her new Parisian lifestyle with open arms as she embraces the city fashions', many hot men, and social gatherings galore. To basically sum it up: it looks fabulous. See for yourself and watch:

But honestly, this tweet from Collins herself is how I feel about it all because I too, "Can't. F*cking. Wait."

The cast includes Lily Collins, Kate Walsh, and major French actors.

Okay, so you already know the wonderful Lily Collins and her incredible eyebrows are starring on the series, but who else is joining the cast?

First, we have Ashley Park, a Grammy and Tony-nominated actress, who will play Mindy Chen. You may have caught her on Broadway as Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls, or in the Netflix limited series Tales of the City. From the look of her Instagram, her outfits aren't going to disappoint.

Kate Walsh, who is forever known in my mind as Dr. Addison Montgomery from Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, will play Emily's mentor from Chicago. You'll spot other American actors on the series, including William Abadie (Homeland) and Arnaud Viard.

But since it's set and filmed in Paris, it's only right that the show would feature French actors. Get ready to see Philippine Leroy Beaulieu, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Camille Razat, and Bruno Gouery on your screen who will appear as series regulars. It's unsure what their role is in the series yet, but check back in later as we learn more info!

The account, most well-known for its incredible takedown of Carrie's once-boyfriend Aiden, posted on Wednesday about Carrie's mismatched Christian Louboutins—she wore one pink heel and one teal heel—in a scene from season three titled "Escape from New York" (you can watch it here). The post ignited fan speculation about the reasoning behind this look, and then Sarah Jessica Parker herself finally—finally—cleared the air.

SJP wrote: "Here is the official answer and I'm sure approved by the great and legendary @patriciafield. We had 2 pairs of what I believe are @louboutinworld scrappy sandals. Pat and I chose to do 1 of each. Perhaps because both were so delicious in color and seemed in harmony with the dress..."

Shout out to Sarah Jessica Parker, who just singlehandedly rescued us all from the misery of Blue Monday with some very happy news. SJP has revealed to her five million followers on Instagram that, nine years after the credits rolled for Sex and the City 2, Carrie Bradshaw will make an unexpected return. While wearing tulle, obviously.

The teaser video, shared with fans of the show over the weekend, features Parker reviving her role as Carrie, as she struts down the streets of New York City in what’s undoubtedly a recreation of the iconic Sex and the City intro, complete with the theme music. Although it’s only a few seconds long, the sight of Carrie’s signature style is enough to get any SATC fan excited. Madonna-inspired white lace heels, embellished gloves, a green tulle skirt, gold lamé—it’s all there.

While details and explanations are still under wraps, SJP did say that the brief return of Carrie is all for a good cause. “My old friend,” the actress wrote for a caption. “She is making a brief reappearance. Partnering with a great brand and supporting a cause we all care about. More to come. X, SJ.”

The video also features the hashtag #PourItForward, which gives away approximately nothing, although a few super sleuth fans have speculated that it may tie in with the Stella Artois Water.org work, co-founded by Matt Damon, which funds clean, safe drinking water across the world.

Even the A-listers are excited about this one. Amongst a sea of fans freaking the eff out, Andy Cohen and Katherine Schwarzenegger were both in Parker’s comments section, with Cohen writing "I <3 CB" and Schwarzenegger commenting "omg omg omg.”

Seeing as Sex and the City 3 is looking about as likely as me ever owning a pair of Manolos, this reappearance from Carrie Bradshaw may have to be enough to keep fans happy (for now). While the third movie was a distinct possibility at one point, the feud between Kim Cattrall and SJP has thrown a major spanner in the works since.

Ah well, back to the boxset until this is all explained a little more.

We already know Sex and the City 3 isn’t happening, partially because Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker reportedly have a crazy feud going on. But now we know SATC 3 would have cut out another big player early on in the movie—and it’s just depressing and sad.

Apparently, Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth throughout the TV series and first two movies, would have killed off. Even worse? It would have been a heart attack, in the shower, super early on in the film. According to E! News, journalist James A. Miller (who did an oral history of the show) made the big reveal on his podcast.

The "remainder of the movie [would have been] more about how Carrie recovers from Big's death than about the relationship between the four women," said Miller.

Honestly, this is annoying for two reasons. The series and two movies made the women’s relationship a top priority—arguably, it was the reason for the whole show. Carrie’s obsession with Big was sometimes grating, even for the other three women. Their strong connection grounded the show, and even if the movies weren’t perfect, the relationships were the reason we showed up in the first place.

Secondly, the Big-Carrie storyline has always been a key part of the series, and not giving him a proper sendoff (killing him off in the first few minutes feels rather mean, no?), isn't doing that justice. He was always made to look a little ridiculous—suddenly bailing on his wedding in the first movie (spoiler alert), only to change his mind five minutes later—but this would have been a new low. The move would have been just another way for Carrie to make Big and their relationship about herself.

Even before this news, it was clear SATC 3 wouldn’t have had the same dynamic, or maybe even the same actors. The last we heard between Cattrall and Parker, things were pretty scorched earth. Parker expressed her condolences about Cattrall’s brother’s death, and Cattrall responded back: “You are not my family. You are not my friend. To this day, I still think about Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic, poofy wedding dress. You know, the one where she almost walked down the aisle in, but then Big (played by Chris Noth) got cold feet and screwed everything up. I’ve since forgiven him...I guess.

Designed by Vivienne Westwood, the "cloud dress" first popped up in the designer’s Winter 2007/2008 collection. It was then re-designed for Sarah Jessica Parker’s Sex and the City character.

The strapless gown featured two different colors of material: The corset top was made from gold backed ivory silk satin duchess while the skirt was crafted from ivory silk Radzimir taffeta. It was truly one of the most magnificent pieces I've ever seen from the television series, and I'm positive I am not the only one who's still obsessed with the gown. (Raise your hand if you've pinned this onto your secret Pinterest wedding board.)

Though you can't buy Carrie's exact dress, to celebrate the Sex and the City movie's 10-year anniversary, Westwood designed several pieces for the Spring/Summer 2018 collection that features elements inspired by Carrie's wedding gown. In particular, the items were created with the "Wilma cutting system," which Westwood used to create the original feminine bridal look.

Update 4/24: There's still no fight.

In a new interview with Vulture, Sarah Jessica Parker would like to remind you that "there is no catfight" with Kim Cattrall and never has been.

"I have never uttered an unkind, unsupportive, unfriendly word, so I would love to redefine it. I also want to remind everybody that there were four women on the set and I spent equal time with all of them, so this was not a set with two women who didn’t get along. I’ve always held Kim’s work in high regard and always appreciative of her contributions. If she chooses not to do the third movie, there’s not a lot I can do to change her mind and we must respect it. That’s the only thing I’ve ever said about it, you know?

Pause. If she chooses not to do the third movie...so, is there still hope that there may be one without her?

She continues, "The three of us have shared our disappointment that we’re not making that movie, not just on our behalf but our crew, but also just the people that have been vocal about wanting to see it. But we still live in a free country where people get to make choices and sometimes the answer is 'no,' and the only way to respond for me is to respect that. So whether we choose to revisit it at another time and reimagine that story—that’s something Michael and I just haven’t talked about yet, that doesn’t mean we won’t, but we haven’t at this time."

"But, no, there is no catfight, there never has been a catfight. I’ve never fought with someone publicly in my life, nor would I. And I spent time with all of the women on the set...We spent 10, 12 years of our life doing something that I really loved and I feel privileged to be part of and I don’t want this to eclipse it or change its experience for that audience that was so good to us for so long."

Original story 2/14: If you're one of the many heartbroken Sex and the City fans who simply can't get over the ongoing feud between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall, SJP has another message for you: There was never a fight. In a recent interview with People, the SATC star opens up about the reported feud between the actors:

“I never talked about it, except [to say] that some of us were disappointed [about the movie not happening], says Parker. “But I never responded to the conversation Kim had with Piers Morgan, where she said things that were really hurtful about me. We had this experience and it was amazing, and nothing will ever be like it. We had a connection with an audience, and we had a connection with the city and with this crew, and we got to tell these crazy stories with each other. So I don’t want to mess with that. I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing that part. So there was no fight; it was completely fabricated, because I actually never responded. And I won’t, because she needed to say what she needed to say, and that is her privilege.”

Rumors of a feud between the friends sparked when Cattrall, 61, insisted her and her castmates didn't get along after her decision not to participate in Sex and the City 3. Over the past few months, Cattrall has revealed the tension that has been reportedly going on for years between the co-stars.

To further prove there wasn't a fight (likely after she gave the interview above), a few days ago SJP, 52, reached out to Cattrall following the death of her brother. Cattrall responded by posting on her Instagram, "I don't need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker."

During a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, SJP said she was "heartbroken" by Cattrall's continuous statements that they were never friends. Here's hoping the former co-stars can mend their relationship soon.

Sex and the City fans, your real-life Miranda Hobbs dreams just came true. Today, Cynthia Nixon announced via Twitter that she's running for governor of New York. Nixon, 51, posted an emotional two-minute video detailing why she's running for office, frequently mentioning her ties to New York and why she loves the city.

"New York is my home. I've never lived anywhere else. When I grew up here, it was just my mom and me in a fifth-floor walk-up....We are now the most unequal state in the entire country with both incredible wealth and extreme poverty....I've never wanted to live anywhere else, but something has to change."

The news comes after many rumors the former Sex and the City star would be running against two-time incumbent Andrew Cuomo, who recently called her a "second-tier celebrity." Nixon has already set up a fundraising page stating that her campaign will be "powered by the people" and won't accept more than $65,100 for the 2018 election cycle. The primaries will take place on September 13, 2018, and if she wins she'll be the first openly-gay woman to hold the New York position.

In case you somehow missed it (unlikely unless you don't have an internet connection), Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall are in a very weird and tense public feud. And now Cynthia Nixon has low-key weighed in.

But first, some context: While this particular feud goes back years, its most recent chapter started when Cattrall told Piers Morgan that Sarah Jessica Parker "could have been nicer" during their time on Sex and the City. The situation escalated when SJP reached out to her co-star following the death of her brother, and Cattrall responded, "You are not my family. You are not my friend."

So yeah, things aren't great. And while the rest of the Sex and the City stars have mostly stayed out of it, Nixon made it pretty clear where her loyalties lie thanks to this Instagram post:

No, it's not a clear statement, but it seems like a pretty clear message. 👀.

Kim Cattrall is not here for Sarah Jessica Parker's constant digs about Sex and the City 3, and her insistence on publicly discussing Cattrall's private life.

A refresher—in October 2017, Cattrall revealed that she would not be returning for another Sex and the City sequel. In an interview with Piers Morgan she said she'd never been friends with her co-stars, and that she, "never asked for any money. I never asked for any projects. To be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous."

The rest of the cast publicly spoke about their disappointment, and Parker was, in particular, extremely vocal about her feelings. In fact, Carrie Bradshaw herself hasn't let Cattrall's decision go lightly, and in the past two weeks alone she has spoken at length about the Sex and the City franchise without Samantha Jones.

On Watch What Happens Live... on January 31, 2018, Parker revealed that she was "heartbroken" by Cattrall's assumption that she was never friends with the rest of the cast. And just this week, while promoting her HBO show Divorce at the Paley Center for Media, Parker revealed that a sequel wasn't completely out of the question, without Cattrall (via E! News).

The timing of Parker's latest Sex and the City 3 revival news feels more than a little insensitive to Kim Cattrall—the star's brother was tragically found dead five days ago.

And this week, Parker made several public comments regarding the death of Cattrall's brother, explaining that she'd sent her condolences, in interviews with Extra and Entertainment Tonight, all whilst fuelling gossip about still making a Sex and the City sequel. Us Weekly notes that Parker also commented on Cattrall's Instagram announcing her brother's death with the message, "Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother. Xx."

But Cattrall has responded to Parker's latest comments with another Instagram post:

Along with her tagged message to Parker, Cattrall wrote,

"My Mom asked me today 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?' Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

Cattrall no longer wants to discuss her decision to leave the Sex and the City franchise, and she also doesn't want other people discussing her grief in interviews anymore, which seems fair enough.

Update (1/19): Kim Cattrall responded via Twitter to Sarah Jessica Parker teasing a third Sex and the City movie. Parker had joked about Ellen DeGeneres playing Samantha, since Cattrall is seemingly out of the picture now. And Cattrall had a few suggestions of her own for who should play Samantha—including Oprah, Sofía Vergara, and Tiffany Haddish. She tweeted:

It seems like Cattrall would be okay with the girls reuniting to film a third movie without her.

Original: Just when we thought Sex and the City 3 was *definitely* a no-go, Sarah Jessica Parker revealed that the movie IS still possible—even without Kim Cattrall. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Parker said the movie could still happen, countering her previous comments about SATC being over.

When Ellen asked if they could do the movie without Samantha, Parker said, “I think there’s a period of grief, a mourning process."

She even joked about Ellen playing the character for the movie. “Perhaps we’ll be able to consider...say for instance, you playing Samantha," Parker said.

And while Parker is definitely holding out for another SATC (and so are we!) she's still not 100% sure it'll happen.

“I don’t know. Last week, I said ‘No.’ Reality is a brutal companion,” she told DeGeneres. “I feel like maybe, I don’t know. I have to make up an answer, because I have absolutely no idea. You know, who knows. Perhaps, we’ll find a way. Right now, I don’t know.”

There's been a lot of drama surrounding the idea of making a third movie, and people think Cattrall is to blame. There were rumors that the movie was being put on hold because Cattrall had certain "demands."

And as Cattrall put it on Twitter:

In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Parker said how hard it's been to deal with all the drama. “The thing I continue to learn is how painful it can still be, after all these years. When things aren’t true, especially when it is a personal attack about your character, the way you’ve chosen to conduct yourself specifically. I’m stunned by how deeply it still cuts,” she said.

"I just kept saying, ‘This was an experience I loved. I love those women. We shared this experience. It was a privilege.’"

Sadly, this isn't an official confirmation from Parker. But we'll be waiting around with a cosmo in hand, hoping that day comes soon.

I couldn't help but wonder, will we ever get tired of Carrie Bradshaw? With Sex and the City 3 rumors swirling around longer than the list of men Samantha slept with, we decided to honor our nostalgic selves and tap into a behind-the-scenes investigation of the iconic show. From nudity clauses to rumored feuds, ahead 50 surprising tidbits you never knew about Sex and the City.

In a 2016 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, SJP explains her decision not to film any naked scenes throughout the show's six-season run: "I've always had one, and it's apropos of absolutely nothing. Some people have a perks list and they are legendary. They have to have white candles in their room. I don't have a crazy list like that. I've just always had [a no-nudity clause]."

The show is based off of author Candace Bushnell's life in a collection of essays published as Sex and the City. However, Bushnell admits the show often embellished her storylines. 

Bushnell wrote a sex column for The New York Observer back in the '90s, which was characterized as the fictional New York Star in the show. Star got away with only paying Bushnell $60,000 for the rights to her columns.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Bushnell admits, "Viewers got so invested in the storyline of Carrie and Big that it became a bit like Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett. They had become an iconic couple and women really related to it; they would say 'I found my Mr Big' or 'I just broke up with my Mr Big.' It became part of the lexicon," she explains. "And when people are making a TV show, it's show business, not show art, so at that point it was for the audience and we weren't thinking about what the impact would be 10 years later."

His name is Ron Galotti, and he's a big-time magazine publisher who inspired Bushnell's columns. 

But producers changed their mind last minute because Bushnell is blonde.

Talk about commitment. 

Parker revealed her agent had to convince her to play Carrie Bradshaw after her concerns about her no-nudity clause and other factors. Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce star Lisa Edelstein would have been the second choice if Parker officially turned it down. 

"I always knew how it was going to end, and it made sense to me because New York is a fifth character in this show," he confessed. "And Carrie needed to end up with New York. Mr. Big is New York. And it always made sense to me."

It took a long time for Sex and the City to introduce a non-white love interest on the show. Back in 2003, Nixon admits her and Parker were the biggest advocates of wanting to improve the cast's diversity, stating it's "irresponsible." Nixon explains, "I'm a huge fan of the show, but if we had an area in which we really could use improvement, it's certainly this one."

She turned down the role twice before being persuaded to take it. 

It only cost $5.

SATC creator Darren Star revealed to MTV that "sitting in the vault somewhere, there is an alternate opening-credit sequence where Sarah is wearing a blue dress. And she doesn't get splashed by the bus, but instead she trips when she sees the bus."

Matthew McConaughey's role in the season 3 episode "Escape From New York" was originally written for Alec Baldwin. After Baldwin turned it down, it was then offered to George Clooney. After Clooney turned it down, it was then offered to Warren Beatty, who also rejected it. Only then was it offered to Matthew McConaughey.

SJP admits the cosmos never had any alcohol in them. Instead, they had water, food coloring, or cranberry juice. However, the brunch food was ~definitely~ real.  

Executive producer Amy B. Harris subtly reveals that in the original SATC script, the characters looked into the camera and talked straight to the viewers. It's unclear why they decided to drop this route, but we couldn't imagine it any other way. 

It was creator Darren Star's favorite and one of the most significant in setting the tone for the series. Dubbed the "up the butt" scene, in episode four of the first season Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha talk about the pros and cons of having anal sex. "When I went to talk to Chris Albrecht [then president of HBO programming] about what we were doing, I mentioned this scene—and for me it was like a litmus [test] of how he was going to react and what their attitude would be toward the show," Star told Entertainment Tonight. 

"I thought, 'OK, I'm going to tell him the scene where Charlotte meets a guy who wants her to have anal sex and she freaks out and talks to her friends about it and either he's going to think it's really funny or throw me out of the room.'" 

You may have glazed past the shoe salesman in the "All That Glitters" episode. If you take a closer look, it's none other than Andy Cohen, who made a cameo appearance back in the fourth season. SJP and the star of Bravo's Watch What Happens Live have been great friends ever since—even accompanying each other to The Met Gala throughout the years. 

Talk about cutting it close. 

And also wrote the handwritten note shown in the film. 

The red-haired boy who plays Brady (Joseph Pupo) in the film is the same actor who played baby Brady in the TV series.  

That breakup via Post-it note? Totally based off of a true story from one of the show's writers. 

It was "the dress we had absolutely no reason to use," according to Parker.

Carrie's address is 245 East 73rd Street, Samantha's is 300 Gansevoort Street, Charlotte's is 700 Park Avenue, and Miranda's is 331 West 78th Street. None of these addresses exist in real life.

SATC has always been controversial though SJP admits the show was never truly about empowerment—it was about love. "I don't think that empowerment was a word that was ever used once on our set, in a writer's room, among the female actors," Parker told Variety. 

When Big's name was revealed in the show's finale, everyone wondered where the producers came up with the name "John." However, executive producer Michael Patrick King revealed it was totally on the whim when writing the finale. "It was just one of those things where it's like, 'Oh, it's happening right now' and you didn't plan it," he told Entertainment Weekly."I just went, 'John,' while pretending to type on a keyboard. 'I told all the writers and they were like, What the hell? And I was like, 'Yeah, we have to say his name, because now he's real.'"

But she had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts with Spice Girls tour rehearsals.

Geri Halliwell aka Ginger Spice plays Phoebe, whom Samantha runs into on the street in season 6, episode 10 titled, "Boy, Interrupted." They talk about Soho House, where Victoria and David Beckham were actually inside while the scene was being filmed. 

Sex and the City won seven of its 54 Emmy Award nominations, eight of its 24 Golden Globe Award nominations, and three of its 11 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations in addition to awards in directing, producing, costumes, and more. 

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, and Cynthia Nixon all won individual awards for their roles. The only actress who failed to win a solo award for her character was Kristen Davis, who played Charlotte York. 

There are only eight episodes in the fifth season because Sarah Jessica Parker was pregnant with now 14-year-old son James Wilkie Broderick. 

Trey proposed to Charlotte in front of Tiffany's in season three. However, a fake window was used because it wouldn't allow the real store to be filmed due to security reasons. 

It's been rumored SJP and Kim Cattrall didn't get along on set, but Parker has confirmed the rumors are completely false. "It used to really confound me and really upset me, because we were part of a family [with fellow HBO hit] The Sopranos, and nobody ever questioned the relationships of the men on that show, and nobody ever said to them, 'Did you hang out this weekend with each other?' or, 'Did you give each other Christmas presents?'" Parker tells Entertainment Tonight. "...It really upset me for a very long time."

Darren Starr originally wanted to cast Alec Baldwin for the role. 

...That is until the final episode where Carrie wears a fur coat from the first season. Costume Designer Patricia Field continues to work with Darren Star today on his most recent series, Younger.  

Mikhail Baryshnikov, who plays Aleksandr Petrovsky, is dubbed one of the greatest ballet dancers in history. Carrie meets Petrovsky in the final season and he swoops her away to Paris. 

SJP played a large role in bringing Mikhail Baryshnikov on the show. Despite criticisms from viewers, Parker defended her choice for her cultured love interest: "[Mikhail] is extraordinary, and this character is not like anyone we've ever had on the show before," she tells TV Guide at the time. "And this person has to bring with him culture and style and complication and depth and a brand new point of view about the city. And it is thrilling to think that there is this whole other city [out there] that Carrie doesn't know [about]." 

"I think the show ultimately betrayed what it was about, which was that women don't ultimately find happiness from marriage," Star admits. "Not that they can't. But the show initially was going off script from the romantic comedies that had come before it. That's what had made women so attached."

Creator Darren Star told MTV, "For me, it was important that the hair color, body types and everything was different," he recalls. "When Cynthia Nixon came in to read for the first time, she was blonde. I saw Miranda as a redhead. Thankfully, I took that leap of faith that she would look good as a redhead."

After airing the scene with Carrie and Miranda in season 3, episode 5 the bakery had to hire a bouncer because the spot became so popular. 

Until season 4, episode 12 the opening sequence was set in front of the Twin Towers. However, after the 9/11 attacks the creators moved the credits to appear in front of the Empire State Building. 

But it didn't last long. The show was cancelled after the second season. Even SJP herself wasn't a fan, publicly stating "it's odd." 

According to E!, Carrie, Miranda, and Samantha's clothing were mostly borrowed samples, whereas Miranda's clothing had been purchased. Nixon explains, "The other women wore a lot of samples. Miranda's not quite that cutting-edge, so they actually purchased a lot of the clothes."

Cattrall reveals she often struggled finding ways to make the sex scenes realistic. 

In season 3, episode 18 titled, "Cock-a-Doodle-Do" Carrie and Big fall into the Central Park boating pond. In Sex and the City: Kiss and Tell, Parker reveals they did the fall in one take. She also cut her foot while filming the scene —  having to get a tetanus shot right after they finished. 

The ladies shot Sex and the City 2 back in 2010, six years after the series went off the air. Abu Dhabi authorities denied permission for the crew to film in the city after reading the script, which made them move the filming location to Morocco. 

Need we say more? 

We couldn't help but wonder, how could Carrie not question herself in the final episode? Instead, her final question is actually asked in the episode before she moves to Paris when she writes, "Is it time to stop questioning?" 

But are you really even surprised? Here's hoping for Sex and the City 3. 

If you binge-watch Sex and the City reruns for the same reasons you first fell in love with the iconic raunchy girl-power series (Carrie's shoes, Samantha's amazing one liners...), you're not alone. But there's one character who doesn't quite translate: Charlotte York. The woman who once said "everyone needs a man" is even more dated than that infamous post-it note break-up (2017 Berger would've just sent a text).

Charlotte–the Connecticut-bred art enthusiast who's afraid of the word "penis" and shares a wardrobe with Martha Stewart—is everything that women today are not. She is dependent, helpless, and an avid slut-shamer. Her main goal in life is to marry a rich NYC man and score a Park Avenue apartment (which she did…twice).

Charlotte quits her esteemed position at an art gallery after marrying Trey—a rich doctor who she only settled for because of the checklist requirements he met initially (money, stability, looks, etc.). At one point, she refuses to give Carrie a loan on the grounds of, "You are a 35 year-old woman. You have to learn to stand on your own," which is ironic, considering Charlotte herself was living off of the million-dollar settlement from her divorce at the time. She claims that women need to be "rescued" by men, and believes females should change for their partners "because we are more adaptable." She also repeatedly scolds Samantha for having one-night-stands, despite the fact that she exhibits identical behavior.

I feel the same way about Charlotte that my grandmother did about Samantha: cringe-worthy.

Women in 2017—even if it's a joke—still identify as specific SATC characters. (See: Girls' Shoshanna circa Season One.) Being a "Carrie" or a "Samantha" defines who you are and becomes a quick and efficient way to categorize the female friends in your life. Today, most women are not "Charlottes," but rather "Mirandas"—liberated, career-driven females who, while desiring romantic relationships, have not built their life goals around them. Among millennials, Charlotte has replaced Miranda as the most loathed character, as Miranda's once "annoying" qualities of independence, intelligence, and—for lack of a better word—ballsy-ness somehow look much more admirable.

And she deserves the praise. Think about it: no one is more persistent in countering Charlotte's Victorian beliefs than Miranda. When Charlotte advises her not to buy an apartment because, "if you own and he still rents, then the power structure is all off," Miranda essentially says, "f*ck you" and purchases her very own one-bedroom on the Upper West Side. She mocks Charlotte's rules for single women who want to get married, and questions her decision to marry Trey so quickly. ("You just met! I've had pair of pantyhose longer.") Miranda firmly stands her ground on every issue and never allows another person—especially trophy-wife Charlotte—to tell her how to live her life.

While Charlotte isn't exactly the antichrist (she did provide us with the meme-worthy quote about girlfriends being your soul mates), she's simply something we've outgrown. She embodies a female persona of the past, and it's a frightening reminder of what was and what still could be.

And for the record, I'm a Miranda—with a better wardrobe.

Of all of the fabulous outfits that Carrie wore on Sex and the City, one of the most iconic ones must be the famed tulle tutu that gets splashed in the opening credits.

But according to an Entertainment Weekly exclusive, Carrie originally had a very different outfit on in the credits–a '50s style blue dress that is at once classic and racy, just like the show. And instead of getting splashed by the bus carrying an ad for her newspaper column, she trips when she sees it, then walks it off with her trademark confidence.

"There were two wardrobes. One was the tutu, and we did one pass where Sarah Jessica was wearing a blue dress and didn't get splashed; instead, she trips when she sees the ad," creator Darren Startold EW of filming the credits in March 1998 by the Plaza Hotel. "In my mind, it was a nod to The Dick Van Dyke show, but we didn't use it. It's in the archives."

Costume designer Patricia Field famously found the tutu in a $5 bin on a showroom floor and recreated four version of it.

"Sarah Jessica and I were fighting for it, and Darren said, 'Okay, but I want other outfits as possibilities,'" she said.

Ultimately, Star conceded, and it's a good thing he did because it was a perfect metaphor for the show and her character: wacky, elegant, fun, and totally original.

"It was such a brilliant choice because, in a way, Carrie's dancing through her life in New York," he said.

We never got to see her wear the outfit on the actual show, but the tutu made a special appearance when Carrie is cleaning out her closet in the first Sex and the City film.

"I'm not certain yet. You may be surprised to know that I don't typically keep up with all of it. But I think it's highly likely that you will see a lot of commentary in art and fashion and literature and architecture and dance and publishing. I think there's a long tradition of art and culture responding to political times. In the instance of fashion, you can see it more quickly.

But typically those movements surface in years' time; it doesn't usually get to answer right away, except in more rogue street art and things like that. But I'm excited about what these times will offer. I think it's really important for history, no matter where one stands. I think it's good for us to talk about it and witness it. Fashion and the fine arts and literature have a wonderful way of voicing those thoughts."

On Mikhail Baryshnikov's inspiring response to the Bush era:

"His background allowed him to look at government in a very specific way. He left a country because of how it made him feel as an artist and as a human being, so he is a very interesting person to have a conversation with about these times."

On executive producing and starring in 'Divorce':

"My company started developing the show about five years ago. It's been a really wonderful effort and a very exciting effort. I'm so proud of the show and the people I get to work with. We start shooting the second season next month.

Speaking with Woman Magazine (via Digital Spy), Cynthia Nixon, unlike her Sex and the City costar Sarah Jessica Parker, didn't bother playing coy about her interest in starring in a third sequel (threequel?). 

"I'd absolutely do another Sex and the City movie—if Michael Patrick King wanted to write it and Sarah Jessica Parker wanted to do it. I'm very proud of it," she said.

Update, 4/12: Hate to be the bearer of the letdown of the century, but we can now confirm that Parker's Instagram post wasn't a Sex and the City 3 teaser, but a behind-the-scenes snap from her ad campaign shoot for the SJP Collection launching at Bloomingdale's next month.

The shoot took place at the department store's iconic flagship location at 59th street and Third Avenue, where onlookers watched as SJP strutted her stuff (LBB in hand), posed on a taxi, and bravely struck a pose on the Bloomingdale's marquee.

The collection will launch mid-June in-stores and on bloomingdales.com.

Yesterday, SJP took to her Instagram to unveil a, shall we say, ambiguous image of herself, stiletto-clad and gracing the NYC pavement. The caption? "Well. I guess the cat's out of the (little brown) bag. As usual, we will keep you posted on every detail as we are able. I'm under strict gag order until then."

*GASP* Is this the confirmation of the Sex and the City 3 film we've been waiting for? Well, maybe. And maybe not. It seems some are speculating that said little brown bag isn't evidence of an indulgent shopping trip à la Carrie Bradshaw, but rather her way of announcing that her shoe line,SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker, will now be sold at Bloomies a.k.a. Bloomingdale's. Which, we guess, wouldn't be a bad consolation prize.

In any case, this is one sure way to stir up press via Sex and the City, Parker, and we can't blame you for it.
