Florida's Action News Jax reports that a Starbucks customer claims that a barista at a St. Augustine-area location labeled his grande white mocha with the words, "Diabetes here I come."
The anonymous customer said that an employee at his workplace picked up a coffee order for the office, and his drink had that charming note where his name should be. He's especially hurt because two of his sisters have Type 1 diabetes. "2 of my sisters are diabetic, so ... not funny," he wrote on the cup in response.
"That first word just automatically brought the picture of both sisters in my head, and I was taken aback," he told Action News. "Just the struggles they went through and all the doctor appointments they had."
Starbucks is currently investigating the incident, but the man says he doesn't even want an apology, he just wants to know it won't happen again. Honestly, I hope they do apologize! Coffee is meant to bring only joy, love, laughter, and swift bowel movements into your life. This other nonsense is just unnecessary!
