Eccole, le nomination degli Oscar 2021. Attesissime, annunciate con doppio appuntamento in streaming, un'ufficializzazione del lento new deal cui si sta felicemente sottoponendo il cinema americano. Che ha avuto tempo di riflettere su ruoli e poteri, e fondamentalmente su se stesso, grazie ai ritardi e agli stop forzati del 2020. Così anche l'annuncio delle candidature si inserisce pienamente nel piano di ripresa e resilienza di Hollywood, nel tentativo di ripartire lentamente ma con costanza dalla più grande crisi postbellica a memoria umana. Primo colpo d'occhio: due registe per la prima volta insieme nella shortlist per il best director. A guidare i record delle candidature Mank con 10 nomination complessive, mentre tra le case di produzione e distribuzione è Netflix a fare man bassa con 35 nomination nelle varie categorie, undici in più dell'anno precedente.
Con qualche grumo di passato che si ripete: uno sguardo agli elenchi dei candidati agli Oscar 2021 ed è subito Golden Globe, considerati l'anticamera della cerimonia dell'Academy. Come sempre in effetti molti nomi tendono a ripetersi, e la storia ha registrato tante doppiette di premiati tra le due manifestazioni. Ma chi stringerà la statuetta placcata in oro tra le mani, lo sapremo solo tra quaranta giorni: la cerimonia di consegna degli Oscar 2021, giunti alla 93esima edizione, si terrà in presenza con collegamenti da diverse città e location incluso il tradizionale Dolby Theatre di Los Angeles, il prossimo 25 aprile (la notte in Italia, come da liturgia e fuso orario ultra crepuscolare).
