Ivanka Trump was reportedly yelled at while sitting with her family on a JetBlue flight Thursday morning. According to TMZ, Ivanka, her husband Jared Kushner, and their family were on a plane leaving New York City Thursday morning when a fellow passenger started talking to her. The man apparently said, "Your father is ruining this country," and also added, "Why is she on our flight? She should be flying private." (In photos, it appeared that Ivanka and her family were sitting in Even More Space seats, which are upgraded coach. JetBlue flights don't always have first-class sections.)
Ivanka apparently said nothing and tried to distract her kids. JetBlue kicked the passenger and his family off the flight, and he reportedly exclaimed, "You're kicking me off for expressing my opinion?"
Matthew Lasner, the husband of the man who spoke to Ivanka, had posted and deleted tweets that said that his husband was "chasing them down to harass them." Later on, he said the actual experience was tamer. "My husband expressed displeasure in a calm tone, JetBlue staff overheard, and they kicked us off the plane," he reportedly wrote.
Lasner did not immediately respond to a request for comment. JetBlue issued the following statement:
"The decision to remove a customer from a flight is not taken lightly. If the crew determines that a customer is causing conflict on the aircraft, the customer will be asked to deplane, especially if the crew feels the situation runs the risk of escalation during flight. In this instance, our team worked to re-accommodate the party on the next available flight."
