Lauren Conrad's Cover Shoot Style

At her cover shoot in a house overlooking Zuma Beach in Malibu, California, Lauren Conrad slipped out of her J.Crew striped sweater and Rag & Bone jeans and easily into elements of the SoCal uniform: cutout swimsuits, bra tops, and short shorts. Less familiar to the Laguna Beach native were new fringe bangs, courtesy of hair-stylist Chris McMillan, reminding her of another recent makeover — albeit an unintentional one. Conrad explained to the crew that on a visit to India during Holi, the annual Festival of Colors when spirited revelers throw colored water and powder at one another, her iconic blonde locks were dyed an "I wanna piss off my parents" pink that didn't wash out for days. The up-for-anything Conrad took it in stride, which explains why she had no hesitation in diving into the pool at the end of the shoot — metallic skirt, wedge heels, and all. —Brooke Shunatona
