Kayti Burt is a freelance culture writer and editor with over a decade of experience. Whether interviewing Japanese filmmaker Makoto Shinkai about depicting the climate crisis in anime or chatting with Hollywood star Margot Robbie about bringing feminist fury to comic book character Harley Quinn, she is always wondering about how pop culture reflects and informs the realities we all live in. Since 2022, Kayti has focused on the rise of Korean-language media in the West, though other areas of expertise include transformative fan culture, science fiction, and Chinese drama The Untamed. She has appeared as an expert guest on Arirang TV and moderated panels at San Diego Comic-Con. Based in New England, Kayti comes from a poor/working-class background. She is a proud member of the Television Critics Association and the Freelance Solidarity Project. Her work has been published in Rolling Stone, The LA Times, Vulture, TIME, Polygon, Paste, Den of Geek, and more. In her free time, she likes going to BTS concerts, learning how to ice skate, and making friends and family watch her favorite TV shows.
