Every Coat and Jacket I Packed for Paris Fashion Week
I love a statement jacket as much as the next person, but these are forever pieces.
Fall has well and truly arrived in New York. I'm personally excited for the change of season because I love a jacket moment. This season in particular, I'm drawn to rich tans paired with cooler tones. I love the mix.
As I packed for Paris Fashion Week, I thought it would be fun to share my edit of the outerwear pieces I'll be taking with me and wearing once I'm back in New York. Right now, I'm focused on pieces that fill a void in my wardrobe but aren't one-hit wonders. I love a statement jacket as much as the next person, but I'm really looking for pieces I can wear year after year.
First up: this dream Khaite leather jacket with the shearling collar detail. Khaite and Prada are my go-to brands for leather. The leather on this one is so soft, but I like that it still reads as a structured jacket. I'm excited to pair it with a velvet pant (I just bought a pair from Róhe) or a raw blue denim.
Next: I have never met a more beautiful trench coat than this one by The Row. The color and fabric feel so luxurious. My look for this trench is a pair of black trousers and the Liisa pump wedges, also by The Row.
I feel like the barn jacket is a hit-or-miss style for people. I personally love them, but I've been looking for a variation that's a bit more refined so I can dress it up. I love this one by The Row. For my everyday uniform, I'm wearing it with jeans or corduroy pants and a ballet flat.
I live in blazers, and my pick for the season is this herringbone wool blazer by Saint Laurent. There really is no brand that does a statement big-shouldered blazer better than Saint Laurent! I'm wearing it with a pencil skirt and pumps to dinner at Le Voltaire. I can already taste those fries!
What ties all of these together for me is that none of them feel precious. They're pieces I'll reach for in Paris, then again in my New York grind, and hopefully for many falls to come. Investing in outerwear is always worth it to me because it's the first thing people see and the last thing you take off. If you're adding one new piece this season, choose the one you can already picture wearing in five years. That's usually the one worth buying.
