Meet the World's First All-Transgender Modeling Agency

Transgender models like Andreja Pejic and Lea T are taking over the fashion world, so it's no surprise that modeling agencies are taking note. Today, The Advocate reports that an all-transgender modeling agency is now open for business in Los Angeles.

Apple Model Management, a Thai agency, made history last fall as the first modeling agency to open a division specifically for transgender models. Now, it's expanding what it started in Thailand by opening a Los Angeles branch specifically devoted to transgender men and women. The branch will be run by Cecilio Asuncion, who just released the documentary What's the T? about transgender women. 

"Our strong commitment to developing them as successful models is never about quantifying or qualifying their gender," Asuncion told The Advocate. "It's never a question of if they are women or men, it's about their passion and commitment to being the best possible models they can be."

Apple's L.A. branch already represents six models, and Asuncion is still looking for more. They represent transgender men and women, and aspiring models can apply through the company's website.
