Now that Daniel Craig is peacing out on the James Bond franchise, the time has come to crown a new 007. But while Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, and Tom Hardy have all been thrown into the casting pool, why not make James Bond a Jane Bond? (Answer: because the patriarchy, but that's a story for another time.)
There's a small but relevant movement happening on social media to revisit Bond's gender, with Gillian Anderson volunteering as tribute to take on the iconic role. But now Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has added her name to the lady-Bond mix.
"I have a lot of unrealized dreams," she recently told The Daily Star. "I would love to play Jane Bond. My ultimate leading man would be Leonardo DiCaprio. No doubt about it."
Leonardo DiCaprio would make the BEST damsel in distress (er, dude in distress?). Just imagine him frantically fleeing from the bad guys on a Citi Bike, his man-bun flowing in the wind.
Anyway, this unusual pairing isn't super likely to happen (again, because the patriarchy), though it should be noted that former Bond director Sam Mendes said the new casting choice "will not be what you expect." A girl can dream.
